Cancel or withdraw a trip request

Need to add another guest or change the dates of your reservation before it’s confirmed? Here are a few things to know.

Understand when you can cancel

First, check the status of your request to determine the next steps. 

If your trip request is still pending, you can cancel it without being charged for the reservation or service fees; otherwise, the request will automatically expire after 24 hours if the host doesn’t accept it.

However, if the host has already accepted your request, your reservation is then subject to their specific cancellation policy.

How to cancel or withdraw a request

The simplest way is to find the message thread with your host and select Withdraw request

Cancel a reservation request on desktop

  1. Click Trips and select the reservation you want to change
  2. For a reservation that says Pending, click Withdraw request
  3. Click Cancel request
