Located on a main road with tram, full of amenitites, shops & transport. A short walk to the variety of Sydney Rd, Brunswick. Newly renovated, with WiFi, comfy beds, quality linen & pieces (so not suited for children) fully equipped kitchen, excellent water pressure. All you need for a stylish stay.

The space
I designed this apartment in line with my own unique interior style. A combination of southern European influences, Industrial and Mid-Century Modern pieces. In a mostly monochrome colour scheme with a blue accent and hints of red and pink.

The first bedroom is a celebration of my favourite colour scheme. Black, white and grey. Highly textural with linen and wool bedding. Terrazzo side tables as a sculputral point of interest and a minimal orb table lamp. The abstract art is a focal point above the French Provinical inspired iron bed.

The second bedroom has similar elements applied differently. This time the colour scheme is inspired by the abstract art with a navy base and pops of pinks. Which directed the choice in bed side table. Industrial style comes through the table lamp with a similar French Provincial inspired iron bed. With all the same textural elements.

Wow factor is found in the bathroom which is adorned with a French toile style wallpaper in an ancient Greek myth motif. A highly personal choice given my cultural heritage. This and the pendant light distinguishes the bathroom.

In the bathroom you'll find quality towels, hand wash, and body wash.

The laundry carries the colours and Industrial styling in a functional space for your convenience. There is also a laundromat 5 minute walk from the apartment.

The kitchen is inspired by Spain and Italy. The tiles on the facade are blue distressed. I chose a white cement look countertop to carry through the Industrial styling. What I love about Industrial styling and southern European influences is a distressed look.

A fully equipped kitchen, including Spanish olive oil, dried bay leaves.

For the sliding door I retrofitted horizontal bars to create the loft style windows we see in NYC warehouses. This is an important element to create a cohesive indoor/outdoor experience, given the view is mostly industrial.

Softening the masculine Industrial styling is linen sheer curtains, look closely and you'll notice they're hung from rods that resemble pipes. A French cafe style outdoor setting with a similar pattern to the hooks in the bathroom.

In the living room you will find a range of authentic vintage pieces. The black French vintage basin, the Mid-Century Modern magazine rack, the red Wendy Jones enamel pendant.

Notice the pattern on the solid oak dining table replicating the square tiles on the counter facade. With classic French bistro dining chairs in rattan for a textural element.

Carrying through the high textural components found in the bedrooms, the living area has leather, linen, rattan, jute, cotton.

The pink colour on the back of the front door is inspired by my sabbatical in Barcelona where I was blown away by a front door with pink ornamentation and the crucifix is hand made by a dear friend.

The European/Industrial/Mid-Century Modern elements of my apartment are the perfect setting for your stay in Melbourne. Australia's most European city, famed for its love of both Industrial and Mid-Century Modern architecture and interior design.

Neighbourhood highlights

Brunswick life is perfect for cafe and bar-hopping, with an ever-burgeoning scene of creative types at play in this traditional-meets-contemporary 'hood.

Eating and drinking
Pull up a wood crate or designer chair and join the locals. Choose from both stalwart and newcomer venues among the population of bars, restaurants and cafes on Lygon Street, Sydney Road and Nicholson Street.

Serious caffeine hits and brunches draw crowds of locals to Code Black Coffee, A Minor Place and Wide Open Road. Later in the day, hustle for a dinner table at Lygon Street favourites Bar Idda, Etta, Waxflower and Rumi. Beyond Lygon Street, Tom Phat, Los Hermanos and I Carusi Pizza are worth the wander.

Late night delights
Sundowners turn into nightcaps at Bouvier, The Alderman, The Cornish Arms and The Brunswick Green. Try a local brew at Temple Brewing Co, or Thunder Road Brewery. Live acts and DJs will see you and your best moves meet at The Brunswick Ballroom, Howler and the Retreat Hotel, while The Jazzlab plays host to a toe-tappin' line-up.

Shopping and arts
Like every good inner city suburb there's an indie sensibility about the arts scene in Brunswick.

See into Brunswick's creative heart at gallery Tinning Street Presents and at Brunswick Mechanics Institute, a multi-arts space with a program of theatre, film, music and workshops.

The lines between commerce and art blur at bookstore Brunswick Bound and arts-hub Mr Kitly, where you'll find ceramics, art books, homewares and planters to style your home and bookshelves.
