Holiday rentals with lake access in Gentilly, New Orleans

We had the best experience at this home! It’s a stunning location. Every window looks out at something beautiful since the house is overlooking water on both the front and back of the house. The host provides everything needed for fishing and a crab cage. We caught 3 crabs and 5 fish and spent very little time or effort trying. Plus there’s a bate shop very close by. The home is a pretty quick drive to the city of New Orleans and a couple other really nice towns. We would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a safe, peaceful, beautiful place to stay while visiting the area.

This place is truly a hidden gem. It’s packed with so much history and truly is secluded from neighbors. We enjoyed catching a few brim next to the cypress stumps and a few catfish and nuisance gar. The house is gorgeous with all the Spanish moss and huge trees on the property. Inside is like taking a step back into time. We had a fun game of finding switches and lights that would work and not work but it only added to the charm and the obvious add ons that must have occurred through the years. Enjoyed reading through the guest book and reading people’s stories from the house back in the 60’s. We were unfamiliar to the area and Stephen recommended Roux & Brew. It was some of the best food we have ever eaten and a great atmosphere with music. Bloodriver Cypress down the road was another great stop! Grass was cut, house was clean, bed was super cozy, linens were fresh, house smelled amazing, dishes were available & had a super easy check in and check out. Highly recommended this stay.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! The location was perfect for us being in between the busy city of New Orleans for fun stuff to do and the less busy city of Slidell for going to get groceries and etc. great place for fishing of the pier we caught several fish. The house accommodated our group of 7 very comfortable and everything was very nice and comfortable!

One of our favorite places we have stayed! It was decorated/set up like a place the hosts actually vacation too. Little things like pans and knifes in the kitchen that are actually usable made it comfortable and easy to vacation. With the supplied crab pots we even caught some blue crab for a meal one night! Nice and clean, comfy beds, and a peaceful dock/screened in patio!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bayou Life. The outdoor space was picturesque, relaxing and spacious. Inside the kitchen was well equipped, the bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Any time we had a question, Morgan replied quickly. He gave several great local recommendations. We would definitely stay here again

David and Cassondra were very gracious and set the house up for a good time. My sons fished every morning and every evening. We caught crabs in the traps daily. Plenty of tackle and bait shops nearby. It was a 25 minute drive into downtown New Orleans. So the best of both worlds. The house was stocked with spices and condiments. Really enjoyed our stay and recommend it with 5 stars ⭐️

This is the 2nd time we’ve rented this house and the only complaint I have is how hard it is to leave. Walking back into our own home after the most peaceful, perfect 3-day weekend felt like a letdown—because Sarah’s place is just that special. The house is beautifully maintained, surrounded by wildlife and nature, yet close enough to everything that you can get groceries delivered if needed. It’s the perfect balance of escape and convenience. We’re already looking forward to our next stay!

Great location in Slidell less than 30 minutes to French Quarter. Very peaceful with a gorgeous view. Condo looks brand new. When we had difficulty with the lock, Cherish came to help very quickly. I would highly recommend.

I spent a week with my kids, and family, a total of 5 people and we felt comfortable. the host was very nice and gave us the basics so we did not have to work about finding supplies when we arrived late at night. the area is not close to much but we loved it because it was a calm and quite area. I would definitely visit again.

The apartment was very easy to find. There was ample parking. The host is very responsive to any questions I had.

We had a very pleasant stay on the bayou. The accommodations were very spacious and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay! The location is fantastic — there’s so much to do within just a 10-minute walk. The host was incredibly responsive and kind, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. We truly enjoyed our time there!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful Airbnb that truly exceeded my expectations. The property is located on the bayou with a beautiful walking trail, which was an absolute delight during my recovery from surgery. The cleanliness of the space was remarkable, making it a safe and comfortable environment for my needs. I was especially grateful for the recliner in the sun room, which allowed me to relax without discomfort. The hand-held showerhead was also a fantastic addition, making my post-surgery routine much easier. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to recover. I highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone looking for a peaceful and convenient stay. Thank you to the hosts for providing such a perfect environment for healing!

Excellent location. Not far from the city but still peaceful, with the waterway canal right out front. A major swamp tour with hotel pickup was a block down but honestly it didn't seem to impact the serenity of the location. House was clean and had everything we needed for the stay.

We loved our stay at Mike and Carol’s from the moment we arrived—Our kids shouted everything that was cool about the house. From the peaceful porch swing and sitting area, to the ARCADE console in the kids’ room, to the MASSAGE CHAIR in the primary room, we hardly wanted to leave. We booked the home for its proximity to the beach front and Old Mandeville (where my uncle lives), and it did not disappoint on location. This was the perfect place to stay as a family, and we hope it is available every year we visit. Mike and Carol were great hosts and made it truly feel like home away from home.

Our stay at the Bayou Boeuf house was Amazing! The house was immaculate and extremely organized. Carolyn is an exceptional host! Her attention to detail throughout the house is incredible. She even thought ahead to bring in a baby bed for my grandson, which was greatly appreciated. The backyard is beautiful, and we enjoyed peaceful mornings on the back patio drinking our coffee. We had a delicious dinner at Trudy’s one night and walked to Zam’s for a swamp tour one afternoon all of which were recommended on her page. My family loved this beautiful house and felt right at home. This home definitely exceeded our expectations!

We had a great stay at Jayson's home. The house is very well stocked with everything you need. The layout of the house is very functional, and the deck was a great place to relax and socialize. It was so close to our planned activities. We were there for riding bikes on St. Tammany Trace and a jazz concert at the Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall. Jayson's house is very close to the trail and is a 5–10-minute bike ride to Dew Drop.

Blume cottage is in excellent location. Old historic Mandeville is great. Accommodations were awesome. Wonderful weekend

3rd Memorial Day in a row. Really enjoy this getaway.
