I stayed at Writer’s Retreat for 4 nights while visiting the university. For a solo traveler like myself, it was the ideal accommodation. Firstly, Jane-Marie was very friendly and accommodating. I had to modify details for my stay at a few last minute points, but she was not only responsive but more than helpful throughout the entire process as well. Secondly, the house is situated very close to the university, being within just a few minute drive. However, unlike other options I looked at, it is also quietly tucked away - offering both the privacy and peace from what can occasionally feel like an otherwise hectic college town. The fact that the house doubles as a meditation site helped with that feeling, and I also loved waking up every morning to the view of the garden right outside my window as well. I had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this location for other travelers looking for a peaceful trip.

I stayed at Jyl's place for 4 weeks. Both she and her other 2 guests were very kind to me and helpful whenever needed. I had both a heater and an AC in my room that I could use and adjust myself. I liked the way of organising common spaces in kitchen and toilet: every shelf, cupboard etc. is assingned to a partcular room guests. I really liked this place.

We came to Ithaca for a peaceful stay away from our busy farm. The neighborhood is quiet, there was a great place for our morning bike ride (pastoral and not too hilly), it was close enough to Ithaca for shopping and restaurants, and yet not so vertically challenged as lots of closer-in Ithaca neighborhoods. There is a dedicated parking space for visitors, so no worries about finding a place to park. I asked for some special accommodations - a roasting pan for a chicken (Thrupton gave us one still in a box) and a table to work jigsaw puzzles (Thrupton gave us a folding table that worked great). The bed was very comfortable, and we could sleep with the windows open, looking out on the woods. We took a lovely walk at the nearby Sapsucker Woods, Cornell's lab of ornithology. Just a perfect three-day mid-week break.

My husband and I had a great stay for our son's college family weekend. I was impressed with the fresh flowers on the table and waters, sodas, milk, yogurt etc. which were stocked in the reregister for us. I will stay again here next visit for my son.
