Bed and breakfast holiday rentals in Essex County

Thomas is a great host. He lives in the house, however he is very quiet. You almost wouldn't know he lived there if he did tell you. This was the second time I stayed here. The first time was a few years back. Thomas had improved the stairs since then. I was pleased to see that he had, as I had mentioned this to him the last time. That was my only complaint then, and now I have no complaints. The house was built around 1905, the interior was redone as some point and electricity has been added (so no worries there ;) ). My room was on the second floor. The stairs like all of the house were wood. The stairs creak when you climb them. It's not a complaint, but it wouldn't hard/expensive to make that stop. He has fresh flowers in every room which is a nice touch. I didn't realize it when I booked the place, but it came with breakfast; Select cereals, organic milk, oats, toasts and bananas. We had a great time here. The pantry and refrigerator were stocked so well we had everything we needed. The bus and train were close and easy to use. Thank you!

Sharon was extremely friendly! She went out of her way to find breakfast pastries for my food allergies! Super sweet! Wonderful space, private room and bathroom. We felt very at home and loved the neighborhood. Lovely drive to nearby areas like Newburyport and Salem. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cozy home away from home.

I really enjoyed Rajib's place. Just to get it out of the way, the shower in the bathroom is the nicest once I've ever used - skylights with houseplants around - honestly forgot where I was for a few minutes, because it really feels like you're at a resort. Rajib's house is a cosy Victorian on the corner of two cross-streets, has lots of trees and greenery around, is in a nice-quiet neighborhood, and is accessible to the city via the T (shoutout Green Line Extension). It felt like home. There was just the right amount of communication (some hosts inundate you with information), so it was refreshing for everything to be short and to the point. Pippy, the resident house dog, was also very sweet - and sometimes followed me around when I was the only one home at the time.

A+. This place is why I come to Airbnb: unique, immersive, and full of character. I stayed in the Witches Dorm, and it felt like part of the adventure, not just a place to sleep. The decor was rich and authentic, and the common room was so cozy I spent hours writing and reading there. The 2 twin beds were comfy (even for a 6'1" guest.) Hope, the host, is fascinating and has some amazing stories, but also totally respects your space. She keeps the common area well-stocked with snacks, coffee, and drinks, which made mornings and late nights easy. Uber was always available and affordable (~$6–10), making it easy to get around if you don’t feel like walking the scenic 25–30 mins to downtown. The walk downtown can be super varied tho—walking along the coastline one day, thru a park the next, and a myriad of ways down tiny New England streets w cute houses all about the same travel time. My first time in Salem. Felt safe at all hours. Would absolutely stay at this property again. A+

Marshall and Courtney have curated a hip, comfortable, and immaculate space that is a joy to spend time in. Addison Choate is nestled in an adorable walkable beach town that is an easy trip from Boston. We had a fantastic time, and will be sure to be back!

I would definitely come back another time. My experience was excellent! The food was delicious and the host was very friendly. Beautiful and charming environment with all of the antiques in the old house. Loved it.

It was a perfect weekend getaway for the three of us. The room was comfortable and we were able to play a board game in the common room before turning in. The hosts made good recommendations for stores and restaurants to explore which was appreciated. We’ll be back!

Christophers place was perfect for our stay! Comfortable and cozy. They were responsive and helpful. There were drinks and snacks out and a delicious breakfast! It was such a cool place!!

The house was owned built by a prominent Gloucester family in 1810 facing the Atlantic Ocean.... Our room had windows facing the Prominade on the surf side and had that wonderful ocean breeze. It's a charming old house with updates over the 200 years... Steam heat... additional bathrooms... asphalt driveway with parking in back....comfortable king bed.

We stayed in this beautiful Inn for only one night, but wish we could have stayed longer. It was so comfortable. And the atmosphere and ambience of being in an old home was delightful. Additionally, there was a wonderful breakfast in the next morning!

Hope was an amazing host!! We traveled on a bit of a whim and hadn’t done much research on what we would do once we got to town, but she was a wonderful resource and told us about all the must sees! And her home is lovely and whimsical and everything we were looking for in a trip to a quirky city like Salem!

Just amazing to get to stay in a 350 yr old museum quality space. We were blown away by this historic house. If you are interested in historical properties and museums, nothing will beat this. It is the real deal. And the bed was very comfortable, the heat was quiet and fast and the water was hot. The kitchen off to the side contained modern appliances and was fun to cook in. Just soaking in the history while eating by the center chimney cooking hearth was beyond wonderful. Well worth the price. Location is quiet with great bird watching by the salt marsh. Close to beaches and museums as well. We will never forget our stay here!
