Chalet holiday rentals in Cumbria

We had a great stay. On arrival the lodge smelt lovely and clean and couldn’t tell it had been thoroughly cleaned. There was a small park at the lodge and then another just a 2 minute walk for our kids. The lodge was in the middle of no where over looking a lovely lake with the most stunning sunsets as we sat on the decking. It’s a lovely spacious lodge ideal for groups of adults or families with children. We had a small issue of the hearing not working as we arrived, but Jess came straight from work and sorted the time on the boiler so it was promptly sorted. The bed to us was slightly hard, but that’s my only criticism, other than that it was perfect for what we wanted and would definitely go back.

Exactly what wee were looking for in a last minute weekend away. Peaceful setting but only a few minutes from Lancaster and the motorway. On arrival everything was ready for us to drive in, drop our bags off and put our feet up. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting access to the lake district without costing a fortune and being caught up in the traffic. Will use again, if available, for our next visit.

What a lovely place! There were 7 of us staying here in total and each of us said what a fabulous place it is, the pictures don’t do it justice! Rooms are spacious and clean, the kitchen/living area was open plan and sociable and the setting was beautiful. We spent one afternoon in and around the hot tub overlooking the garden and scenery with the sun on us all day and it was the perfect place to completely relax and unwind. We also got a taxi into Durham city centre which was only £12 in total so not far at all but you feel like you’re way out in the countryside. Kaye was also a great host and very responsive to any questions in the lead up to our stay. Overall, a 5 star experience. Thank You! x

One of the best Airbnb accommodations we've stayed in. The lodge was exactly as described (the third bedroom was smaller than we'd expected but I think that's more because we hadn't paid much attention to it), if not better than described (the shower was spacious). Everything was there as we needed it, we appreciated having working utensils in the kitchen (not always the case). The view from upstairs was amazing, much enjoyed from the sitting area upstairs. Julian was a responsive, kind host, as were Ainsley and Steve, our local point of contact (next door). We even had a delicious welcome pack. We had an amazing week exploring the area. Julian's idea of asking people to write down recommendations of places to visit in the visitor's book is an excellent one. Thank you for opening your home to us.

The property is a hexagonal wooden cabin, tucked away in a secluded spot convenient for birdwatchers (RSPB reserves and WWT Caerlaverock are nearby), dog-walking at the fantastic Sandy Hills beach and hiking along the coast. Nonetheless it is only half an hour's drive from Dumfries and/or Castle Douglas. The lodge has lovely views down to the Solway Firth across to the Cumbrian Hills and beautiful night skies. We stayed between Christmas and New Year, when we experienced wild and wet weather as well as deep frosts, but the cabin was always warm and cosy. The open plan kitchen/living area was greatly appreciated, as were the two bathrooms. This was a lived-in but very comfortable space. We all felt at home here, including the dog.

we had a lovely stay at the lodge. it was safe for my kids to play as the outside area is enclosed, and the fence gives privacy when in the hot tub. there was an issue outside the hosts control but they were extremely proactive in resolving it. they were very responsive when contacted and really pleasant to deal with.

Lovely cabin, lovely setting within a beautiful park, lovely little walk aroun the lake. Very dog friendly park which was lovey. Very nice hottub. Had everything you might need! Lots of things to do nearby if you have a car, and right next to the zoo.

Amazing lodge in a perfect location. Had the best stay for my friends 30th birthday celebrations. Close to Ambleside and Windermere so great for day trips/lake cruises/etc. Would recommend.

Absolutely lovely lodge! It was so quiet and remote but also close to the shops/takeaways; so fantastic location. The lodge was spotlessly clean and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. Will definitely be staying again in the future!!

Great location and place to stay

was very well situated on the lake with lots of nature. when arriving in the dark there was no lights or signage to direct you to the property. But very lovely property and park. Lake Windere is such a Stunning part of the world . Will be visiting again .

Really bright airy chalet, but surprisingly warm and cozy. Fab views over the fields to Criffel and just a stones throw from the shore. Nights filled with the call of Curlews and a sky full of stars. Well placed for walks along the beautiful Solway firth, over hills and through woodland.

We had a lovely couple of nights in this very spacious but cosy lodge. It is very close to the beach which is perfect for walking the dogs and 5 minute walk to the pub - perfect!

Lovely location, kind and friendly host, spacious yet cosy and pleasant cabin. Really enjoyed my stay - beautiful view, right on the beach, lovely long walks. Cabin was clean, warm, and comfortable, utilities worked well, great shower. Birds and bunnies to watch in the morning, a very peaceful space.
