“Absolutely loved our stay in the Shepherd’s Hut. A cosy and comfortable space which was thoughtfully equipped and finished to a lovely standard. The shower and stove were hot and kept us warm despite snowy December weather. Merlin was close to hand and was kind and helpful when we needed some extra kindling and even left us a Christmas wreath on the door. We most enjoyed our wintery hill walk at Coulter Fell and the local fish and chip shop. Will be recommending to friends and family and planning our return trip in spring!”
Gorgeous cosy flat in a quiet peaceful neighbourhood. Only moved in 9 months ago so everything is modern and freshly decorated. You will have the whole flat and all the amenities to yourself. There are also double and single blow up beds available if required. I will be staying close by during your stay to help with any enquiries; if I'm not available one of my family will be. Close to M74. 5 min drive to Biggar, 15 to Lanark and New Lanark, 40 to Peebles, 1 hour to both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
“We had a wonderful one night stay here for a friends wedding at nearby Cornhill Castle. Jacqueline and her daughter welcomed us to the property and showed us how everything worked. Little touches like milk and eggs made a huge difference to how welcome we felt. It was so clear how much pride she takes in her property as it was immaculately clean and so well presented, with very stylish and well thought-out decor. Can't recommend highly enough!”
A historic, beautifully restored stone cottage on a narrow road just a couple of minutes walk from Biggar High Street. Tranquil, spacious and utterly charming with beamed ceilings, woodburner, super-comfy bed and a great view of the hills. COVID 19 - to ensure safety and follow enhanced cleaning protocols, there is a minimum stay of 7 nights during 2020. There will always be a 'buffer' period of at least 24 hours between guests.
“What a delightful, stylish and super comfortable home Hilary has made for her guests! We absolutely loved staying in Ferniehaugh Cottage and wish we could have stayed longer than three days. Really comfortable bed and excellent shower. The cottage was immaculately kept and a half-minute walk to the beginning of Biggar's quaint main business street with its very pleasant choices of shops, a really close-by supermarket, two museums, various places for coffee and pastries, a few really good restaurants, and a beautiful 15th century church. Hilary has thought of everything to make her guests' stay as comfortable as possible. If you'd like, she will make recommendations for what to see and do while you're in Biggar. There are also many guide books and pamphlets available. If you need to do a laundry, there's a washing machine in the kitchen and Hilary will show you how to dry your clothes using a most ingenious device. Also, even if you are not tea drinkers, you must just boil some water in her electric tea kettle and see what happens. You won't believe your eyes! We were thrilled that we chose to stay at Ferniehaugh Cottage and very grateful to Hilary for making our stay absolutely perfect.”
