Koji and Eri’s machiya is quite a special place! They expertly and tastefully restored an abandoned piece of history into a refined and peaceful place to stay in Kyoto. Eri personally welcomed us and showed us the house and they went out of their way to make sure our time in Kyoto was easy and enjoyable! The ofuro alone is worth it!

We stayed at Shi's place as a group of 7 and absolutely loved it! It was a beautiful space and we loved the Japanese style architecture - it truly enhanced our Kyoto experience. A highlight of the space was the common living room area as well as the small bar. It made for a great space to have a night in with friends.

We really enjoyed sharing each others stories, she also made us feel right at home. The place was clean, cozy, and comfortable. Ohara allowed me to stay in his beautiful home and was a wonderful host. Very friendly and the home was very close to the station and multiple stores.

I had a fantastic experience staying at this property. The host provided fast and clear communication, especially with the check-in instructions, which made everything smooth and stress-free. The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. It’s conveniently located near public transportation and convenience stores, which made getting around and grabbing essentials super easy. I truly appreciated the thoughtful touches and overall hospitality.

Place is very spacious, very clean and good air conditioner. Very comfortable bedding. Shower is plenty big. If you are 6ft or over you’ll need to occasionally duck but tat all over Japan. It’s definitely not a problem. Way better than staying in a hotel as I could sneak downstairs as I am always up before my family and could get work done before activities. Cabs and Ubers go right by, 7-11 is baseball throw away and an excellent I Indian restaurant on the corner. If you have a kid who wants McDonald’s it’s right there too. You’ll have to take a cab or Uber unless you want to walk 20 minutes to things but as I said they are readily available and only cost $10. Highly recommend super spacious and I felt a much better option for us than a small hotel room. Also it had a good washer for clothes.

A very comfortable and quiet area, conveniently close to Kyoto Station. If you don’t have too much luggage, it’s just a 15-minute walk—or one stop by train. Great value for money, very cozy. Highly recommended!

The host and the house are amazing!The host's wife is very nice, very attentive and patient in communication and guidance before and after check-in, and very caring for us!On the day of check-in, he also came to the station to pick us up to the residence, and introduced us to the surrounding environment and configuration all the way.Although the residence may be a bit far from popular attractions, the house is great!I believe that the moment you enter the house, you will feel that it is extremely worthwhile!Two days is not enough to experience the goodness of this home and the style of Osaka. I hope to have the opportunity to return to this home in the future!

Nice house in a quiet neighborhood. Location gives fantastic access to the city through the Green Line (Karasuma). Easy to access from Kyoto Station shinkansen. Less than ten minute walk to the Aeon Mall. All facilities in working order. The washing machine is very useful in extending the usefulness of your carried clothing.

I can’t say enough great things about Uzu’s place. It was so clean and comfortable. When we checked in she was very thorough about the house and also about the surrounding areas and places to go. She had a great hand drawn map of the area that we actually used a lot! The traditional beds we chose to sleep in were very comfortable. Everything in the house is labeled which makes it very easy to find things. Uzu went out of her way to show us local restaurants and spots to try. She is a very friendly host that cares about making her guests stays very enjoyable! One thing we found was that it was a bit out of the way of central Kyoto. However, if you want to experience a quiet traditional neighborhood this is the spot! It’s about a 10 min walk to the closest train station or bus stop. The host was very nice and helpful. The location is a little far from the main Kyoto Station (~35min bus ride). However the area is a residential area so it is very peaceful and nice way to experience living in Japan for a few days.

This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

The place was so beautiful and very close to many restaurants and convenience stores. We were able to stay in or go out with ease. Our host was very friendly and easy to communicate with. Would recommend to anyone, and we all hope to come back in the future!

This is my third stay. The bedding and towels are clean and comfortable, and I am always very satisfied. It's become a place that's hard to book, but I'd love to stay again if I get the chance.

All of the best! Definitely recommend to group or family stay. The public place is awesome. It’s close to snow park and Arima Onsen, AND THEY SERVE TRANSPORTATION! We met bad weather this winter and the cable and bus was stopped, no taxi response,barely can’t get down the mountain. Thanks for the staff. We are planning another stay this summer now~

The stay was perfect. The communication was spot on, clear instructions. The host had some nice recommendations for the area which we tried two. Those were great. The house was perfect too. Loved the nice 3 story design and cleanliness. The washroom was also quite nice. Godd water Temperature, and excellent pressure. Can recommend.

This flat is perfect if you are travelling to Osaka for a solo trip. It has everything you need for your holiday, including a washing machine which is vital. The flat is only a 1 minute walk from the closest subway which is the easiest way to get around Osaka. I would recommend this property and I will stay here again if I return to Osaka. If you want to be right in the mixer of Osaka. This Airbnb is great! All the shops and transport are walking distance. Even the night life is a 5min walk. Would highly recommend.

We loved our stay!!! It was soooo spacious. Spotless clean and had everything you needed. Groceries were close by. It was so nice to have separate bedrooms. Definitely top choice. I would stay here again for sure.

This place was definitely a steal for the price. Lots to do in the area. It’s in a local neighborhood so it’s not too busy or noisy but it’s within a good distance from all the things you’d want to do in Kyoto. The host was responsive and helpful and gave a great list of places to visit in the area. Can’t go wrong with this place! Definitely a steal for the price!
