Smoking-friendly holiday rentals in Castelo de Vide

Ideal stay to escape the city clutter. The conditions of the surroundings give opportunity to recharge.

Spent three weeks in this charming house. Absolutely unique place. Situated in a hidden valley with beautiful surroundings. Lovely walks directly from the house, nothing other than natural sounds make relaxing in the garden a real pleasure and the lack of light pollution makes for stunning star gazing. Daniel is an excellent host for whom nothing is too much trouble. We loved staying here and would recommend it unreservedly.

A unique stay at the Celtic Lodge - brilliantly designed and well laid out, with lots of usable outside space and fascinating surroundings - we enjoyed exploring those. Castelo de Vide is an easy drive where we found great places to eat and drink. If you’re looking for a characterful, rustic mini retreat in natural surroundings, I highly recommend the Celtic Lodge!

The house is spacious with three bedrooms upstairs accessible by an external staircase and internal spiral staircase. The kitchen has a great assortment of cooking items making it simple to put together a good meal. The wood burning fire place was set for our first night, Thank you Raquel and team, and helpful for the duration of our stay. We enjoyed hosting some friends for dinner and had a lovely meal on the dining room table. We learned on this trip that being near farmland is peaceful with its own assortment of sounds- roosters, barking dogs, sheep bells... The floors are tile and can get a bit cold at night- definitely would suggest bringing some slippers if possible. The location is near enough to Castelo de Vide and accessible with a car. Raquel was great with communication and available via chat throughout our stay. Directions to get there and getting in were easy to follow.

Luis was a fantastic host - responsive and always of service. The lodgings were fantastic - clean, comfortable, had everything that was needed and more, and in a part of the village I found SO interesting (the medieval part). It was close to the village centre and all that was needed for a pleasant stay. I HIGHLY recommend Luis and his lodgings, and the village of Castelo de Vide for what could be described as nothing less than a STELLAR travel experience! Jaye

Great place to stay with a group of friends. The underfloor heating makes the house very comfortable in winter and the kitchen is well equipped and has a large hob which makes cooking a breeze.

We stayed in the “wall”. It is a small but spectacular house, inside one of the most quiet and secluded areas of the castle. It has a walled courtyard, which for us was an added value since we also took our bige. In fact, ALs that accept animals are always to be congratulated because they suffer from the scarcity. The house is in an area where it is difficult to go by car (although it is possible but the streets are too narrow) and Mr Luís was very helpful to take us (to us, to our bags and to our dog) to the house at check in, which was a great help. Even so, walking access is fast. We recommend it.

A wonderful house in an idyllic place, beautifully decorated, with all the amenities and where silence is only interrupted by the sounds of nature. The photographs do not do justice to this site, exceeding our high expectations. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and made us feel like home. This was a fantastic and highly recommended experience.

We spent a week at Peter and Rosemary's lovely BnB and we could have stayed longer! The home itself is beautiful with a fully appointed kitchen, comfortable beds and a cozy atmosphere. We lucked out on warm weather, so we spent most of our time on the porch, with gorgeous views of the surrounding area, and in the pool. What a great way to relax after a day of touring local towns and riding horses through the countryside. We also found the local hiking trail that provided a fun way to see the history and beauty of the countryside. It was walkable to the trail from the BnB. Peter and Rosemary are amazing hosts. They welcomed us so warmly and made us feel at home. We enjoyed their friendship and their hospitality. We would absolutely come back to their place when visiting Portugal again.
