“We loved this little beach cottage! We have been to Cape Charles before so we knew what we were expecting in terms of the town. The house was so well-stocked with linens, towels, odds and ends, etc. Loved the location but recommend renting a golf cart (we got our from Cape Charles Golf Carts) for trips to the beach. We stayed right after the COVID restrictions lifted. Bring masks as most restaurants and shops require them. Also bring food from home. The grocery store was pretty wiped out. Other than that- it was a great trip!”
The Minnow at Cape Charles is a one-bedroom, one-bath studio apartment with private entrance, deck and kitchenette. Located blocks from Cape Charles beach and the town's main street, this new space offers sleek coastal style and all the comforts of home.
“The Minnow is a beautiful, well-planned, and thoughtfully decorated space for anyone hoping to relax and enjoy Cape Charles. The large open shower and the lovely balcony were especially enjoyed. Kathy & Skip were delightful hosts who offered beach gear for us to use. We didn’t get a chance to use the bikes as most of our trip was rained out, but having them as an option was the deciding factor in booking The Minnow. We enjoyed our stay nonetheless.”
Nostalgic for their homeland, this new home with separate two-bedroom apartment for guests on the third level, is named YBALON, the legendary name of the Bicol Region of the Philippines before Spanish colonization. The first and second levels with an elevator, are occupied by two sisters, who built this as their retirement home. The third floor apartment has a separate staircase access, and is self-contained and private. It has a cathedral ceiling, complete kitchen, a spacious living/dining area, 1.5 Jack and Jill bath with laundry and dryer, and a large deck with panoramic view of the town. It is fully equipped with amenities for guests' comfort and enjoyment of the beach and the offerings of this vibrant historic town. Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake seduces with old fashioned charm, where residents are friendly and proud of their place. It is also sophisticated with fine restaurants, exclusive shops, art galleries, signature golf courses by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, and in season, joyful with festivals and community events. The beach is picturesque with its fine white sand, dunes and sea grass, a fishing pier where you can catch crabs and fish without a fee. At dusk, you can have your cocktails and watch the spectacular sunset unfold. Everything is 15 minutes walk away from the house; the beach, shops, restaurants, the park with tennis courts, and a gazebo where music is played in summertime. There is a golf cart purveyor across the street, if walking becomes undesirable. And Rayfield's drugstore next door has an old fashioned soda fountain, and country breakfast scrapple. For those who want to exert themselves, there's kayaking, hiking, bicycling, deep sea fishing, and sailing, paragliding, and of course swimming. The marshes is teeming with life and very photogenic when you catch it in the glow of sunrise or sunset. And with awe, you get a thrill driving over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel for the first time.
“Our family of two adults and two small kids felt at home, and had everything necessary for a relaxing stay in Cape Charles. The place itself is very tidy, and cute, with a balcony. We never used the elevator, the climb is not particularly high :) Cape Charles' beach is a small kid's paradise, quite shallow with warm water and no waves. We the parents managed to swim, too. Overall, very pleasant trip.”
