Kick back and relax in this pet friendly, peaceful & stylish space. 2 bedroom home with queen beds, a double bed and leather couch - should you need an extra bed. The home has a massive outdoor dining area with fire pit & BBQ. Inside is a split system for heating/cooling and a coonara fireplace for cold, wintry weather. Firewood can usually be purchased from the Bonnie Doon service station. Views from every window, a 10 minute drive to the local pub (dogs welcome) and lake. Come and enjoy!

This home is currently listed for sale and under contract. We take bookings up till the end of August then we will shut this listing down. If you choose to book, please know that on 1 - 3 occasions someone will attend the house for a brief inspection. We ask you kindly to help keeping the house neat and tidy for those days. Situated 45 minutes from the ski slopes of Mt Buller and Mt Stirling guests can easily take day trips to the snow.

Wark Cottage (circa 1895) named after the original owner William Frederick Wark, has been meticulously restored to modern day standards while retaining its worker cottage roots. Original features throughout complete with pressed tin finishes, hardwood floors and working fireplace. Wark Cottage draws you back in time and creates a tranquil and relaxing place to locate yourself while visiting Chiltern and surrounds.

The Old Butcher's House Benalla - Cottage Charm

Step through the ornate stained glass door and soak up the period charm of a self-contained oasis built in 1887. The blend of original features and modern styling includes 12-foot cedar ceilings, Murray pine floors, lead light windows, and original fireplaces. (The fireplaces are not functional and are for decor purposes only. (Split air conditioners and Hydronic heating keep you at your desired temperature).

Awake to the sun rising over the beautiful Ovens Valley. Be amazed by the birdsong welcoming the new day. Relax with a drink on the deck as the sun sets, or a magical moon rises above the horizon. The views from this house are spectacular – from the horn of Mt Buffalo to Kneebone Gap, Murmungee Basin, and the Ovens Valley.
