Birken Cottage - Holidays in the Herbsthausen sawmill

Our three one-room apartments — Ahorn, Linde, and Birke — combine the historic charm of Herbsthausen with contemporary design. Each apartment is completely unique and has been modernized by us. They offer space for two to three people each. The apartments are part of “Herbsthausen”, an cultural project in the town of Gartow. We are renovating a historic sawmill and transforming it into a future-oriented place for art, industrial heritage, living, working, international exchange, and relaxation.

Time out in the forest with an oven and sauna!

In the middle of the forest, on a clearing, 3 km from the beautiful town of Gartow, lies our special retreat. If you are looking for peace and quiet in nature and value simplicity and goodness, this is the place. The old half-timbered building, a former stable, was renovated with high quality and sustainably with natural materials. Clay plaster on the walls and the wood-burning stove guarantee an excellent indoor climate, and the walk to the wood-fired sauna promises absolute relaxation!

Duplex apartment in the countryside

Our cosy holiday apartment in the small village of Bülitz in the Altmark offers space for 2–4 people over approximately 70 m². The maisonette extends over two floors and impresses with its quiet location and wide view of the countryside. Old walls, exposed wooden beams, brick and clay plaster create a special atmosphere in the rooms and combine rustic charm with modern comforts such as underfloor heating and fibre-optic internet. A place to take a deep breath and feel good.

Natur Nest Nemitz – Living in a converted stable

Our new, charming and lovingly furnished apartment is located in a former stable building of the old farm, just 700 m from the Nemitz Heath. The 60 sqm are divided into a kitchen, hallway, bathroom, a bedroom/living room and a beautiful wooden terrace - ideal for couples or solo travelers, suitable for a maximum of 3 people. Wallbox and bicycle shed are provided. On request, 1–2 horses can be accommodated (€20/night) – ideal for unforgettable star rides in great nature.

Holiday apartment in old half-timbered house behind the dyke

The Storchendorf Wahrenberg is right on the Elbe and offers an ideal location to enjoy nature and activities. Wahrenberg does not have through traffic. In the garden you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. Cycling and canoeing are possible directly on site or nearby, as well as swimming on the Elbe or on lakes. The spa in Bad Wilsnack and the beautiful Waldbad Seehausen are ideal for excursions. Simple bicycles cost €5 per day.

Kulturhaus Wahrenberg

Unfortunately, our farm is not suitable for excessive parties. Our house was built around 1850. The residential house and barn of the listed 3-sided farmstead are built with oak timber framing. There are 10 wedding linden trees around the house. In November, when the linden trees are pruned back, the house can be seen in all its glory. From May, it then slowly disappears behind shady foliage and stays wonderfully cool throughout the summer...

The 200-square-meter, newly renovated and listed "Fohlenstall" is idyllically located in the middle of the Wendland, near the Elbe Valley Floodplain Biosphere Reserve. In a 10,000 square meter garden with old trees, the light-filled house offers plenty of space for family, groups of friends or a workation. The generous layout, lovingly selected antiques and modern design create a special atmosphere - a place to arrive, be together and relax.

Living in an old school

There is no central heating. There is a convection oven, which is similar to a tiled stove, but quickly provides cozy warmth. The place is heated on arrival, and the heat usually lasts until the next morning. Cheering is easy! Relax, also enjoy silence in a stylish guest apartment, feel comfortable no matter the weather. Quiet in the countryside, there is no distraction, no shops, no cafe, nothing. Welcome to the Middle of Nüscht.

Relax on the small pony farm

Enjoy a great time on our private farm with our horses/ponies. Depending on the number of guests, you will have two or three bedrooms, a large living room with a dining table, a small but well-equipped kitchen, and a bathroom with a bathtub. From the terrace you have a beautiful view over the horse pasture and enjoy the sunset. I'm happy to give you tips on things to do in our beautiful Wendland. I look forward to meeting you!
