Surrounded by pastures, it's a short walk to the Mad River for swims and walks. The Mad River Brewery is less than a mile up the road. In a 15 minute drive you can find the hip town of Arcata, surrounded by redwoods and hiking as well as a majestic coastline. Please note that the access that the access to the sleeping loft may be challenging for elders. Sundays 10:30 am to 12:30 pm we host a family friendly ecstatic dance in the studio adjacent to the apartment. Expect music at that time.

The YumYum Bungalow Cottage- Arcata- soaking tub

The YumYum is an eclectic studio cottage nestled just blocks between town center and the redwood forest. The Community Redwood Forest, Cal Poly, and the Arcata Plaza are all a lovely 5-10 minute walk away. The cottage is separate from our house, and was lovingly created using mostly locally salvaged old growth redwood- meaning it might be as old as 2,000 years! It brings us immense joy to host- we love welcoming people from all over and helping them fall in love with the redwoods.

Chic & Comfortable in a Walkable Neighborhood

Located in what locals call Northtown, our Arcata home is a perfectly situated home base. You will find several eateries, cafes and a natural food grocery store all within a two block walk. You can access the two bridges over to the Cal Poly Humboldt campus a few blocks away and just beyond campus is the Arcata Community Forest with towering redwoods. Downtown Arcata is just a seven minute walk down the hill where you will find more restaurants and unique shops on the plaza.

A large, open modern studio apartment on the ground floor of a Victorian. There's a stream of activity on the street, walking and biking. It's a swell, safe neighborhood with professors, students, families. Outside the apartment door you may enjoy coffee or a cocktail at the garden table. The kitchen is complete and part of the living room, which works well for groups, with the counter island, futon sofa, lounge chair, and kitchen table with chairs.
