Our house, Whispering Waters, contains a private, contemporary two-room apartment suite, with its own private access via an exclusive south-facing deck, 21 mtrs above the tree-lined River Tees. Lying in bed, it's as if you’re in a treehouse with the treetops visible outside the window. Situated in Lower Teesdale (on the A67, between Barnard Castle and Darlington - around 7 miles/11km from each), Whispering Waters is a house without neighbours, immediately adjacent to, and above the River Tees.
“We really enjoyed our stay at Bill's place. The location was perfect for what we planned to do, from taking trips into Barnard Castle, up to High Force and exploring the local area. The place was easy to find, just a short distance from a friendly village, with even nicer fish and chips. We found the communication to be good in the lead up to our stay, so we knew exactly what to do on our arrival. The privacy was good, and there were lots of nice touches throughout the rooms. We would really recommend Bill's place!”
A charming, dog friendly holiday home full of character, an ideal base for exploring the surrounding areas. Set on the edge of a quiet rural village with immediate access to public footpaths, it boasts an abundance of places to visit and explore. And with a large multi fuel stove or a short stroll to the local pub, it's the perfect way to escape a busy life-style. Perfectly suited for families, couples, friends, walkers and cyclists alike, and all four legged furry friends are more than welcome!
“Lovely stay at Stone Cottage. Gemma was the perfect host and so thorough and quick with all of her responses to any queries we had. We took our young baby along and Gemma made sure the cottage was ready with a bouncer and Moses basket and left a pouch of baby food together with biscuits for us and treats for the dogs! The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you will need and the decor is really lovely. It’s the perfect place to go with dogs and Gemma has thought of everything for them. Our dogs had a great time by the fire on the comfy dog beds provided. It’s a lovely location if you want to spent time outdoors and we visiting Hamsterley forest and Raby Castle which were both lovely walks. Thank you Gemma we’ve had a lovely little break for our first getaway with the little one!!”
A charming terrraced cottage in the sleepy hamlet of Hurst, this former lead mining cottage benefits from tranquility and seclusion in a very rural setting within heather laden moorland. There are fabulous scenic walks and cycle rides straight from the doorstep, or unwind and simply enjoy beautiful views without getting off the sofa! Despite the unspoilt vistas to the front and rear of this cottage the towns Reeth, Richmond and Leyburn are all a short journey away. A true gem in Swaledale.
“Pheasant Cottage is a beautifully renovated home, high up on the moors in the Yorkshire Dales - the ideal place to switch off and relax. The views are stunning - a 20-minute walk out of the front door brings you to a great vantage point overlooking Reeth - and guests can enjoy spotting pheasants and rabbits in the field directly behind the house. The interior is great too - the kitchen has a modern fan oven and is very well-appointed, there's a roll-top bath, electric radiators that heat up really quickly and the open fire is perfect for winter days. I got a mobile signal (including internet, surprisingly) on Vodafone just outside the front door, and while we didn't miss TV there is FM radio reception if you have a radio to bring. Josie was very responsive and answered my (numerous) questions extremely quickly and helpfully before we arrived. And the tasteful Christmas decorations were a lovely touch!”
