  • Paddle with the Penguins
Meet Terry Corr or Jon Monsoon, Your qualified Marine Conservationists and Sea Kayak guides at our Shark Warrior Adventure Centre at Seaforth beach, receiving an interactive presentation. You will receive a safety briefing before jumping into our comfortable sea kayaks, and head out into the big blue. Rounding the corner, you will be faced by incredible African Penguins at Boulders Beach. Paddling is easy, at your own pace and we reach the remote Windmill beach, where we spend time in the sun swimming. On our return journey, we head out to Ark rock to visit playful cape fur seals. We paddle back to our centre to complete our experience. An awesome adventure that is responsible, the best way to meet the Penguins, learn more about sharks, and the wonderful creatures that inhabit the unique kelp forests. Other things to note Very Important! As an AirBnB experience and required by SA Government regulations, we require all our guests to follow our CoVid 19 Protocol which requires mask wearing, hand sanitizing, temperature check and social distancing. Please Bring your swim suit, towel, phone, hat, sun cream

  • The Art of Penguin Conservation
Waddle with me (and my sidekick Sushi) into the fascinating world of Africa's only penguin species! Over the course of a fun and informative chat /drawing class you’ll discover little-known facts and amazing insights into the unique lifestyle of our endangered penguins and the conservation challenges they face all brought to life through my photos, videos and our very own penguin drawing created during our time together. (Your completed artwork at the end will form part of a global penguin conservation project.) Most importantly: by participating in this experience, you will be directly contributing to the conservation of African penguins. This can be added to your home-school schedule as a biology, conservation, and art class, or it can be a fun way to connect as a family celebrating a special event or as a corporate team working remotely. Book a Private Experience for just your group or contact me for dates and times not shown. No matter your age, the story of our African penguins will enthrall you and definitely leave you with a new appreciation for penguins being more than just cute waddlers.

  • Bo-Kaap : Walk with a local
We start the tour at 71 Wale Street where we discuss the origins of the oldest suburb in South Africa. Our walk then takes us past the Auwal Mosque, which is the oldest mosque in South Africa, which was started by enslaved people in defiance of Dutch law, in 1794 . We stop along the way and grab a koesiester, before walking down the street with all the colourful houses. This is the most-photographed street in South Africa. We then work our way towards Cape Town’s famed spice shop, Atlas, where you will smell the heady aromas of spices used in everyday Cape Malay cooking. These are the same spices used by slaves as an expression of freedom in their masters’ kitchens.

  • In the hood
We will meet at the Hout Bay Harbour (Fish on the Rocks) , from there we will start the visit of the community. We will take a long walk around the community; meeting interesting local people as the Khoi or Rastas (knowing the herbs they used for ancient generations) , by there I will explain you the situation of our community; where seafood is flooded and poverty and unemployment is the biggest obstacle to overcome. Then we I will explain you some of the projects that Meraki Bay is developing around Hangberg. After knowing the community we will make a little hike up to the mountain looking for the amazing views that the Sentinel Mountain can offer us. Before finish we can try some local food in the community if the visitors want it. We can make this plan, but as this is a unique experience, if you want to stay more time meeting people from the community, chatting with them or enjoying the environment we can work it out! Other things to note Meeting point (fish on the rocks) At the final of Hout Bay Harbour! So close to Snoekies
