After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cabin that was due to be demolished just one month later. As the property is fully private, you can enjoy a private stay without worrying about your surroundings. It can accommodate couples, married couples or up to three friends. To ensure you have a comfortable stay, we use Simmons mattresses for the beds and Airweave for the sofa bed. It also has high-speed internet, making it ideal for workation. Parking for three cars is available. There are also shops in the area that serve Omi beef, and you can enjoy teppanyaki grilled with Omi beef.

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
