Here you can experience the Knausen cabin, which was built in 1940 and has retained most of its original character. Here the beds are built into the rooms, there is no Wi-Fi and dishes must be washed by hand. However, the location can bring peace of mind with beautiful lake views of Ålfjorden, a large property with a lot of natural land, access to the beach, fishing and a short distance to Ølen, Etne, Odda/Trolltunga, Haugesund and Karmøy.

Skjoldastraumen is an idyllic and quiet place with the possibility of several activities and excursions. The place is probably best known for its saltwater locks that opened in 1908. The saltwater locks are the only ones in Norway that are still in use. The sandy beach at Notaflåt is centrally located and provides bathing opportunities on a nice summer day. Straumen school is also nearby. Here the kids can play and play football. If you drive to Nedstrand, you will find the well-known Himakånå. "Straumen er Draumen"

There are also a number of hiking opportunities/ top tours in the nearby area. Sandeid is located about 50 km east of Haugesund and about 110 km north of Stavanger.

The cottage is located in quiet surroundings and you're going to love our place because it's located right by the fjord. You can easily go fishing and hiking or just relax and enjoying the view. Furthermore, the quiet surroundings make it magical when you take a bath in the jacuzzi while watching the sunset. We highly recommend a hike to Himakånå. It is also possible to take a day trip to the Pulpit Rock.

Ølen is a good starting point for day trips to nearby tourist attractions, like Folgefonna glacier, Trolltunga in Odda, Langfoss & Låtefoss waterfall, Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) or excellent skiing options! The house owners are very helpful in planning your trips.
