　We renovated part of a house in Ichijodani to be exclusively for private lodging. 　It is conveniently located for walking around Ichinotani, with nearby Asaga Kasuga Shrine, which was the Asakura family's war victory prayer place, the Asakura family ruins of Shimosakado, the Asakura family ruins museum and JR Ichinotani station, the Asakura family ruins Karamon, and the restored street. There is a firefly spot nearby, and you can also find them on the premises. 　There is also good access to major tourist destinations in Fukui Prefecture, such as the Dinosaur Museum, Ski Jam Katsuyama, Eihei-ji Temple, Tojinbo, Shibamasa, and the Sand Dome. 　There are no restaurants, supermarkets, or drug stores nearby. The convenience store is also 2.5 km away. 　There is a moss garden on the premises and a lawn that is not well maintained, but if the timing is right, you can enjoy a private cherry blossom viewing and snow play on the premises. 　Because it is a rural area, there are insects and small animals around the facility and sometimes in the room. Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
