Kid-friendly holiday rentals in Southwest Harbor

We loved our stay at Danielle's place. The view is amazing! We were lucky to enjoy a beautiful sunrise on our last day! The location is perfect for excursions! Some of our favorite spots were: Seal Cove Picnic Area to watch a sunset. Everyone said to go to the lighthouse to watch the sunset, but it seemed too busy! Seawell Point for a beautiful sunrise and it's close! Beals Lobster Pier for lunch/dinner. Danielle, thank you so much for hosting such a great place!

Our family had the best, most relaxing vacation at Evergreen Hill! Everything was fresh, clean, and comfortable. Our dogs loved the fenced backyard but their parents loved that feature even more! We enjoyed being close to Southwest Harbor, Seawall, and Bass Harbor Head Light. Our hosts thought of everything for tourists with dogs, and our family was so appreciative. The neighborhood is private and quiet. We opened windows and listened to the birds every morning. We wholeheartedly recommend Evergreen Hill!!

We are a family of five with three teens. The space was perfect for us to all hang out together and play a board game at the dining table, as well as spread out and have plenty of down time in our own rooms. I thought it was a nice touch that the front door was open and the keys were in the kitchen. Great to have bathrooms in each of the rooms. When we were planning our trip, we weren't 100 percent sure if our pet care person was going to be available, and Sarah was very responsive and flexible with us asking if we could add our dogs at the last minute. We didn't need to bring them, but it was so helpful to know that we could. We bot a huge box of pastries from Clark Point Cafe, and we would have gone back and sat down for a full breakfast if they had been open on our second morning. I guess that gives us an excuse to come back! The back yard view is private and beautiful. So much to like about our stay. Hard to fit it all in here. Thanks to Sarah and her family for everything.

Steve's place is walkable to all southwest Harbor, and if you're like me and love Peter Trouts it's extremely close. thanks Steve.

This is the perfect basecamp for exploring MDI! Quiet, secluded but also located within an easy drive of SW or NE Harbor, Bar Harbor or all things Acadia. Scott was an excellent host and we felt right at home.

Loved staying at the Treehouse! Anne was incredibly helpful ahead of our stay, sharing a number of great local recommendations for restaurants, activities, and hiking options. Very responsive leading up to and during our stay, which was great. The area is beautiful and location was great for us to travel all around Mount Desert Island. Definitely recommend walking down to the beach to watch the sun rise, maybe even a cold plunge! Thanks, Anne!

This house is a few streets over from the shopping in this area and 2 minutes to parts of Acadia National Park, but about 20 minutes to the visitors center for the park. The house was great for a family. The rooms with single beds are actually bigger than I expected from the pictures. The house was very clean and had everything we needed, including things to cook with. This area is less crowded than Bar Harbor.

Clean and cute home in southwest harbor. This was a great location for the MDI marathon - an easy walk from the finish line. On a very busy “leaf peeper” and marathon weekend it was great to be on this side of MDI. Many of the local restaurants were either closed see the season or had run out of food - but the little gems we found were great. The house was very clean and comfortable and all the instructions and helpful hints provided by Maria were perfect and easy to follow. We lucked out with a big golden moon rise over the bay one evening.

Our stay at Pam’s place was absolutely fantastic! This is our second time staying at The Nest. The apartment was beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and had everything I needed, especially in the kitchen. We typically cook at least two meals a day and we had everything necessary. Pam was a wonderful host, very responsive and helpful throughout my stay. She stocked the fridge with eggs, butter, milk and half & half in addition to having cookies and muffins waiting for us on arrival. The location was perfect for exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia, but was far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. We especially appreciated the cozy living space, comfortable bed, and fireplace to toast our toes. We love the mini farm aspect of The Nest. Seeing the chickens, goats, mini horses, ducks, and dogs as we come and go is definitely something we looked forward too. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing & unique stay away the hubbub but close enough to every

Pam's place was wonderful spot for our trips back and forth to Acadia. Away from the crowds of Bar Harbor and only a short drive. The place is cute, quaint and well stocked. Very pleasant stay!

Beautiful place! Felt like home away from home. Very clean and has all the essentials you might need for a vacation. Nancy and her husband were very friendly. Highly recommend!

This is a great find! Very good value for Bar Harbor and super close to Acadia Park entrance and town of Bar Harbor. Plenty of room for us with all amenities you would need. Very, very clean and private. Friendly hosts and a really nice environment around the house with trees, flowers, and birds as well as the chickens and ducks which are fun to watch. Can't recommend this enough. We hope to be back.

Mandy’s place was a perfect home for our family of 4 - right down to the little essentials (such as a first aid kit and stain spray for clothing)! Her apartment was spotless and the kitchen had everything needed for our several day stay. The small town of Ellsworth was a quick walk and approx 45 min drive into Acadia. We also really enjoyed all the bird sightings near the river (including a peregrine falcon). We would definitely book again if visiting the area.

Beautiful spot and view from the hot tub and dock. Cute little living space and we loved the welcome/ informational guide provided as well as the home made cookies ready for us on arrival. Would stay again!

Renee's place was great for rest and recovery between hikes at Acadia. Had everything we needed to prepare our own food, and located close to shopping. We had a great time and would definitely stay again next time we explore Acadia!

Love this Condo. Superb location in Blue Hill Village, easily walkable to everything downtown. Modern and updated making it very comfortable. Well equipped with cleaning/cooking supplies so you can "live normally". The hosts are super responsive and helpful as well. Highly recommended.

We were very happy start to finish. The location was just so unique and incredible. Right on a working marina, but very quiet. Plenty to see and do nearby. Walk across the pier and buy live lobsters. Christie was extremely helpful and quick to respond when asked. Condo was very well done with plenty of touches to make it homey. A good value! If we come back to Maine, we’ll call her first.

The place in Brooklin was delightful. We arrived at the edge of the season so got to enjoy the surrounding area mostly to ourselves. Our hosts were kind and welcoming and not overly attentive. They got a kayak out of storage and took it to the dock for me which gave me a lovely morning on the nearby cove. They also gave us a later checkout which was really helpful to not have to jump up and get things cleaned and packed. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The location of the condo is perfect if you are looking to stay in Maine to explore Acadia. The condo itself is minimalist but completely adequate. The indoor swimming pool and amenities at the clubhouse are perfect for anyone with kids and/or rainy days! The views were beautiful off the deck. I would definitely stay again!

Pretty solid place, was on a discount but was clean, relatively near acadia, but only qualm was that it was a little hard to find. Not reallly host’s fault, we got confused. Overall solid place

We truly enjoyed our stay at Brian’s place. The location is unbeatable: 10 minutes to drive to Acadia, and 10 minutes to walk to the waterfront in downtown Bar Harbor. We traveled with our two children, ages 3 and 1.5, and had plenty of room. We did our best to keep quiet for our downstairs neighbors, but just know that sound does carry a bit, even from the downstairs unit. Having a full kitchen and washer and dryer was a huge plus! Cannot say enough good things about Brian’s place, and hope to be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn’t want to leave! Everything about the cabin was well thought out. We loved having a fire and looking at the stars from the dock! Mark and Laurie were fantastic, friendly hosts and made us feel right at home. We would love to come back someday!

We had a great stay! The condo was very clean and cozy! The host provided clear instructions for a smooth and comfortable stay. We didn’t want to be right in Bar Harbor, so this was the perfect distance between Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park/Schoodic Area. Would recommend!
