It is nestled within the stunning Northern Pennines (AONB) UNESCO Global Geopark and sits next to the historic Nenthead Mines site, which was once a major centre for lead and silver mining. Mill Cottage Bunkhouse is on the C2C cycle route, it is also next to Isaac’s Tea Trail and only a drive away from the Lake District, making it an ideal base for cyclists and walkers.

Great base for exploring the area. With pubs and coop 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk. Recently renovated to a high standard but still feels characterful and cosy. Underfloor heating, induction hob and super insulated. 2 well behaved dogs only are allowed for a small fee. Sorry no other pets allowed.

Surrounded by miles of footpaths, bridleways and moorland, there are walking, cycling and riding options in every direction. Nearby rural pubs offer delicious local ales and fantastic food; or try some home raised, rare breed pork over the firepit grill, then a drink on the raised deck in the evening sun.

There are plenty of footpaths and cycle trails meandering through the beautiful Durham Dales and North Pennines. Within easy reach of the Lake District and Northumberland (Hadrians Wall). Built in the 1800’s the Victorian red brick and wood beams are a feature of the upstairs, open plan living area, which is fully equipped with everything you need for a chilled out self-catering break. On the ground floor, the bedroom can be configured as generous king size bed or a twin at your request. There is a Private parking bay for one car.

The Lake House

The detached Lake House is set in 11 acres. Ravensworth is an enchanting village with many of the houses dating from the 17th century. The village is defined by its green, and ancient ruined castle, only a few miles from the pretty towns of Richmond and Barnard Castle . A village pub and two wonderful farm shop cafes within walking distance. The Lake House has uninterrupted views of the lake and surrounding woodland. The Lake House can also be booked together with Willow Cottage.

Swinburne Castle

Swinburne Castle is perfectly situated within its own beautiful parkland and gardens. Traditionally decorated, parts of the house have tremendous history dating back to the 12th century. The east wing is extremely comfortable and private, and don't be perturbed by the stone steps leading down to the vaulted cellar. In the mornings you can look forward to a delicious breakfast in the formal dining room. There is ample parking and a tennis court you are welcome to use.
