Holiday houses in Shirakawa, Kamo District

This house was so charming, and the area is absolutely gorgeous! It was a great experience of traditional countryside living with a few modern amenities thrown in (the high tech bathroom and toilets were appreciated!). A word to the wise though: what the listing says about cold weather is no joke! We stayed in mid-November and ended up catching the first couple below-freezing nights of the season, and while the host warned us the house would be chilly with only kerosene heating, we were unprepared for the discovery that the house’s power couldn’t handle keeping heaters on in more than two rooms at a time without blowing the breakers! Aside from the bathroom and one bedroom we kept heated, it was so cold we could see our breath indoors for the entire duration of our stay! The house is wonderful but I would recommend thinking of this as more akin to glamping than, say, a fully outfitted cottage. If the weather is nice, I can’t imagine a more charming place to be!

We had a precious experience with a bonfire, sauna, snow, and stars. I was able to relax in a quiet and private space. The room is spacious and can accommodate large groups, but the living room is the warmest, and I made it a living room for eating and sleeping. The host was polite and helpful in communicating in advance. Thank you for lending me a sukiyaki pot and preparing the sauna for the desired time!

This is a comfortable and airy apartment in a peaceful residential neighborhood of Nagoya. The space is clean and uncluttered, and so feels very relaxing. Transportation links for downtown areas are nearby, as well as shopping options and numerous local restaurants: including Japanese, Chinese, Indian Nepali, and Turkish food. Highly recommended. I hope I can return.

There are restaurants nearby, and it's a password, so you don't have to worry about losing the key, the house is tidy, there's a super delicious sandwich restaurant on the first floor, and parking was convenient and really nice!! Above all, it's the best to take the baby!!

It was a great experience, the room was very comfortable, and the compendium also had a lot of local restaurants, which was a comfortable place.

The subway station and the street were also very close, and the host shared the location well in advance, so I was able to come well without confusion. He gave us a lot of good information, responded quickly, and gave us a lot of good information. I was the most friendly host in the air bnb. The surroundings were also very quiet, and the accommodation was very tidy. If I come next time, I want to use it again.

We were four adults visiting the Matsumoto area, looking for a peaceful place close to nature — and this house was perfect. It's spacious, cozy, and full of charm, with large windows that offer stunning views of Lake Suwa and a big veranda where we could relax and enjoy the scenery. The house has a great heating system that kept the entire space wonderfully warm — it was such a treat to walk around in comfort while it was below zero outside. Communication with the host was easy and positive. Kim is a lovely person, and just chatting with him made us feel right at home. Finding the house at night was no issue at all, and parking is conveniently located right next to the house. We heard from the host about a nature trail just behind the house, but unfortunately, we didn’t have time to explore it. Hopefully next time! We highly recommend this peaceful retreat for anyone visiting the area.

This place has GOT to be one of the greatest hidden gems hidden in Japan. Amazing host, beautiful house with amazing scenery in one of the nicest towns I've ever experienced. It made us want to move there!
