There are plenty of activities in the surrounding area, such as lakeside walks, cycling and stand-up paddleboarding. There is also a supermarket within a 5-10 minute drive, so it is very convenient. It is about 10 minutes by car from the nearest JR Kosai Line, Adogawa Station. It is about 60 minutes by car to Kyoto City, and there is free parking (for 3 cars), making it a convenient base for sightseeing in Kansai. In winter, there are Makino Kogen Ski Resort, Hakodateyama Ski Resort, Kuboki Ski Resort and Ohana Resort, where everyone from families to advanced skiers can enjoy themselves. We also have a storage room where you can dry your ski wear. We offer a stay where adults and children can truly relax in a space that harmoniously combines nature, play and tranquillity.

It is about an hour by car from the city of Kyoto, and if you are coming by train, it is about 20 minutes by bus or 10 minutes by taxi from Adogawa Station on the JR Kosai Line. It is popular with overseas customers, families, and groups. We also rent out a BBQ set (equipment) for a fee, so please feel free to contact us. Free parking on premises. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.

Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it.
