Nordic Mountain Cabin Takashima | Near Lake Biwa | Campfire | Sunset | Stunning mountain views

This is a private, entire property for rent in a secluded setting surrounded by nature. Time passes slowly, and every moment remains quietly in my heart. A rural landscape unfolds before your eyes, and beyond it stretches the beautiful view of Mt Hakusan. From the deck surrounded by flowers, you can watch the beautiful sunset as it descends over the mountains. Enjoy a BBQ while listening to the sounds of nature At night, gather around the campfire, roast marshmallows and enjoy a relaxing time under the starry sky. [House story] This house was born out of a childhood dream of living in a Nordic house. It all started with my longing for a cosy cabin like the ones in stories and for the tranquillity of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband Andy, took over a cabin that was due to be demolished just one month later. This house has been carefully renovated, piece by piece, by my husband and I, like a work of art. It has been reborn in harmony with the Nordic philosophy of valuing our connection to nature and the beautiful natural environment of this place. 4 km to Lake Biwa (Imazuhama) 1 km to a convenience store (Lawson) Large supermarket (Heiwado) 10 minutes by car 15 minutes by car to the Metasequoia-lined street

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.
