Escape Los Angeles to this incredible getaway! Perched on a private bluff amidst thousands of acres of pristine nature and wildlife, the airstream boasts infinite ocean views, serenity and style. instagram: @malibudreamairstream
This is the personal Airstream of a nature-loving Malibu designer who built it as his personal getaway from his busy hectic schedule. Stripped down past its aluminum studs, it's been redesigned into a large studio with three large frameless glass panels that slide open to a huge cantilevered deck with unrivaled views of the Pacific ocean and thousands of acres of pristine and untouched nature. Lounge in our luxury extra thick wool rugs and cotton poufs, drive down to surf one of Malibu's best beaches, have dinner at neptune's net or go hike Sandstone Peak, Santa Monica's highest mountain just behind the property. Enjoy incredible sunsets and even more amazing starry nights without any light pollution and try to spot the satellites silently wizzing past the milky way beaming down to earth. And then at dawn, if you are lucky with the morning fog, wake up above the clouds like you are the only person in this planet. IMPORTANT NOTE - This listing is weather dependent. If there is a high chance of rain or rain scheduled during your stay we reserve the right to cancel the reservation due to slippery dirt road conditions and the fact that we have to store all the expensive furniture inside the airstream. Please do not use GPS to find the airstream. Use the directions we provide in the itinerary. Please do not book this space if you are afraid of sleeping somewhere remote in isolation or are afraid of nature or expect a 100% bug free environment. You are literally surrounded by thousands of untouched acres of wildlife. That means there might be a few mosquitoes or bugs or even a mouse or a rattle snake (we have yet to see one at the airstream). The beauty of the experience lies in sleeping with the doors open, under the milkyway while hearing the ocean below and the occasional seal barking in the distance or coyote howling for its pack.
Circle x ranch, county line beach, matador beach, zuma as well as many other hikes are all less than 10mn away.
  • Simply magical. Born in LA and grew up in Malibu and still have never experienced anything like this. The adventure to get there, the nap outside under the sun listening the great music system... Cooking, super comfy bed, blanket of stars, a little slice of heaven perfect for a special occasion. Refreshing to have no wife and no one else in sight. Loved it. Bring water and snacks Xo

  • My wife and I had planned our anniversary weekend to spend at the Airstream. Given all the rave reviews, we were both excited to experience it for ourselves. Aside from the instructions provided in the house rules, we didn't get much additional information on what the Airstream offered. We inquired with Rani about a coffee maker prior to the trip, and she said there was a french coffee press but we decide to bring our own as a backup. We couldn't find the coffee press in the Airstream. Unfortunately none of the electrical plugs worked, and we weren't even able to make boil water, heat food, or make coffee. Unfortunately, she didn't explain that there was a solar power generator outside the unit nor were there instructions how to use it. The lighter to light the kitchenette stove didn't work either. We also saw rat droppings in the kitchen drawers, and a very dirty appearing air vent directly over the bed. Part of the challenge was the inability to communicate with Rani while in the Airstream to assist with some of these issues, due to lack of cell signal. We actually never met with her throughout the stay. In addition to our challenges, there were no instructions in the Airstream to help us troubleshoot issues. Despite the fact we paid over $1200 for two nights at the Airstream, we checked out after the first night due to all of the challenges and not being able to enjoy our anniversary. The location offered great views of the ocean and serene privacy. While many others seemed to have enjoyed their stay, unfortunately we did not have the same experience.

  • Booked this airstream over the holidays, what an amazing place! The drive up is definitely not for the faint of heart, try to avoid making the trip at night. But if you've done it once, you'll realize it's actually pretty simple. When she says go all the way up, in caps lock, she means it. You should be hugging the shore line for most of the drive. There's a dirt road about 100 meters past the gate on your right, that's not the dirt road she's talking about. Once you're up there, you're on your own. And for good reason. If you haven't experienced silence, you're about to get a good fill of it. All I can say is - try the door! It's absolutely beautiful. It can get cold so bring blankets and a bit of whisky, you'll be fine! We cooked grilled cheese at night, and a full breakfast in the morning, bacon, eggs, avocado toast etc. still had power. Try to use the candles at night, it adds to the ambiance. We had a small dog, he slept the whole time and seemed unfazed. Spotted a deer but no coyotes, rattle snakes, tarantula or scorpions as mentioned in other reviews. Thank god. All in all, a great airbnb. Thanks again!

  • We had such a magical evening up at the airstream! Like no other place in the world! We felt like we were on top of the entire world!

  • There are no words to describe my experiance with this Airbnb find! It was simply amazing! The pictures are exactly what you get and the views are breathtaking. What I loved the most was the fact that there was almost nothing else around besides a couple of houses in the distance. If your looking for a very private and secluded getaway then this is for you. I have absolutely no complaints but keep in mind that you will have no phone service but they did have a radio and plenty of books to relax and enjoy the views. The dirt road going up was not bad at all and the cold shower was an interesting experiance... All in all Id love to book this listing again and so should you!

    Jasmin2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a night at this amazing location. Everything looks just like the pictures, and the view is just incredible. If you're looking for an experience (not just a place to spend the night), book this ASAP! Loved it! Rani was very helpful all the way through the process of booking. Thanks for a wonderful time!

The Joshua Tree House is a two bed two bath 1949 hacienda located 10 minutes from the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park in Joshua Tree, CA. This is a place for dreamers to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making local coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect record to put on as the sun sets, or by relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by over 100 Joshua Trees and a starry night sky.
Instagram: @thejoshuatreehouse #thejoshuatreehouse If you can't find the dates that you're looking for, please take a look at our other listing - The Joshua Tree Casita: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974 Welcome to the Joshua Tree House! This hacienda was built in 1949. With over 100 Joshua Trees on the property, the views from the house are magical. If you're up for it, sunrise on the front porch is incredible. We estimate that some of the larger Joshua Trees on the property are as old as our country! This house is very close to downtown Joshua Tree with many shops and restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the house. This also means that some sound from the highway can be heard. If you're looking for a completely silent desert experience, we would recommend our other property: The Joshua Tree Casita (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10614974) *Mattresses and Bedding by Casper* There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms in the house, and works well for a group of friends, two couples, or small families. We can also set up an extra memory foam mattress in the hammock room (has privacy with pocket sliding doors) to accommodate groups of six.
Joshua Tree is a small community made up of musicians, artists, and explorers. In the village you will find locally owned and run restaurants, art galleries, music venues, and vintage shops. There are many wonderful places to visit during your stay at the house including the Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy & Harriet's, the Integratron, Salvation Mountain, the Salton Sea, Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum, Crossroads, BKB Ceramics, and la Copine (a delicious new french restaurant in the desert).
  • The listing was even more impressive in person. The design was perfect, the bed was so comfy, and the little details made it feel like home, but better than home. ;) We had an incredibly relaxing time at the Joshua Tree House and will definitely be back as soon as we can.

  • The Joshua Tree House was simply perfect. Every detail was so thoughtful - from the Joshua Tree Coffee to the curated vinyl collection. Sunrise on the porch and sunset in the hot tub were truly magical. Everything was better than advertised and we didn't want to leave. Before arrival, Sara & Rich sent a beautiful PDF of the ins and outs of the house and the area. It was extremely useful in planning. They were also quick to respond to any questions I had and shared great local suggestions! The house was the perfect distance into town, Joshua Tree or for a day trip into Palm Springs. We loved the peace and quiet during the night. Our weather was perfect, so we didn't need to use the heater or a/c, but they were centrally located in all the right rooms. We're already starting to plan another visit back to explore more of Joshua Tree and relax at this beautiful house. We can't wait to see what the new property looks like!

    Mary2016-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication, great place walking distance to town, hot tub a huge bonus. Great stay.

  • Wonderful desert retreat and great basis for exploring the Joshua Tree National Park.

  • Sara and Rich is very responsive and well-communication before our trip to the house. The house itself is amazing and we enjoyed our stay a lot! Thank you for creating such a beautiful and creative space for travelers!

  • This was our second stay at the house, and we loved it. Between the big fireplace, a stocked kitchen to make meals, and the coziest beds, we will be booking our next trip soon!

  • Had a wonderful weekend filled with desert magic at The Joshua Tree House, check in/out was easy thanks to their beautiful illustrated guide to the house & JT. Enjoyed beautiful views from the porch and delicious locally roasted coffee. Great place to get away and do as much or as little as you'd like. Thanks Sarah & Rich!

  • We loved the Joshua Tree house! My wife and her sisters spent her 30th birthday there and had so much fun hanging out in the house and the hot tub that they didn't even want to leave! Would definitely stay there again! Great memories

With a geodesic dome loft & a large deck in the trees, you'll feel like you're in a tree house in the woods. We are in a quiet yet convenient location. Shaded by Oak and Madrone trees and next to a Redwood grove, you can enjoy the outdoors from the deck. In the summer, it is cool and in the winter you might get to hear the creek running below.
We have 10 acres next to land without fences so you will get to enjoy nature: just hang out on the deck, take a hike in the woods, watch the hummingbirds, pet the goats, go to the beach or gaze at the stars - as long as the moon isn't full. ; ) During the summer, if there isn't any nightly fog, we can see the Milky Way here. To check our availability, click on the "Request to Book" link. And yes, if it isn't available, it is already booked! If you want to stay here on a weekend during the summer, you will need to make your reservation request about 9 months in advance. We do, however, occasionally get a cancellation, so if you want a date that's already booked, you can let us know and we will notify you of a cancellation. (Please read all of this description before making a reservation request.) The cozy and clean semi-rustic cabin has a loft under a geodesic dome (the "mushroom cap"). In the loft is a Queen-sized super popular Casper Mattress which allows for very comfortable sleeping and just hanging out, We provide clean sheets and pillow cases. Plenty of blankets are also provided. The other "bed" is a couch that we can make up into a bed. If there are going to be 2 of you, but you want separate beds, please make the reservation for 3 or let me know ahead of time - there is a $10. charge for using it as a bed. In the loft, we have a 32" HD Flat Screen and a DVD player (no TV) for movies. (We have over 80 movies you can view as well.) On the main floor (a Pentagon) is the couch and a pull-out table. We provide a small refrigerator, a blender, Hot Air Popcorn Popper, French Coffee Press, a salad spinner and dishes. Yes, we have a wine opener. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals, games, etc.: 1 inside and 1 outside on the large deck that faces the redwoods. We also have a barbecue grill on the deck with an extra gas burner on the side. We provide Organic Coffee, teas, Oatmeal, popcorn, butter, honey, sugar, nutritional yeast (for the popcorn!) spices, oil and vinegar and various snacks. Our well water is treated by an ozonator, a UV light and a soft water filter. If you have a baby and you won't be needing the second bed, make your reservation for 2 and let us know if you will need a small pad for the loft. Again, if there are 2 of you but you want to use the second bed, please make your reservation for 3. The cute bathroom has a Travertine shower, custom tiled sink and a Natures Head self-contained composting toilet. Some guests have had a problem with our bathroom, so I want to make it clear that we have a curtain for the door to the bathroom and we require that you put your used toilet paper in the trash. (it won't smell) If you follow the instructions for how to use the toilet, it won't have any odor. If the thought of using a composting toilet grosses you out, then don't make a reservation here. ; ) We provide towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a hair blow-dryer, etc. (a word of caution: the bathroom has a low ceiling. If you are over 6' you may have to do a little ducking here and there.) As Saturdays are very much in demand, (and we like to be free on Saturdays), we require a minimum 2 day stay on the weekends. Keep in mind that Friday and Saturday nights are $145. each. Therefore, to stay here on a weekend will cost $290. plus the $35. cleaning fee, the $40 airbnb fee and the 11% Santa Cruz County Transient Tax of about $35. So for the weekend, it will be a total of about $444. To stay for 1 day mid-week costs a grand total of about $200. On 3 day holidays, we require a 3 day reservation. (This includes Presidents Day, Memorial Day, M.L.King day, and Labor Day.) But to stay here on a weekend, you will usually have to book the cabin 6 - 8 months in advance - unless you are lucky to find a cancellation! Check-in time is between 4 and 10pm. If you want to come sooner or later, this can sometimes be arranged. Check-out time is noon. As we have experienced some damage from guests, we are now requiring a $100. security deposit. Although it feels very isolated here, we are less than 10 minutes to Aptos Village where you will find stores, restaurants, a health food store, Safeway, etc. We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay: 10 minutes from the beach (Rio Del Mar and Seacliff State Beach) as well as the 10,000 acre Nisene Marks State Park for miles of hiking or dirt biking in the Redwoods and along Aptos creek. We are 20 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz, 25 min. to the Beach Boardwalk, 45 minutes to Monterey and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, 50 min. to Carmel and 1 1/2 hours to Big Sur going south and San Francisco to the North. Yup, we are located in one of the most beautiful areas of California. (these times are not during rush hour(s) ; ) If you love hummingbirds, bring your camera. Our garden is the year-round home to many Anna Hummingbirds. (We usually have about 250-500 year-round) During the summer, we are also called home by many Rufus and Allen Hummers as well. So you have got to see our "Hummingbird Airport" where we feed them about 120 oz. of syrup on a summer day! Please, no smoking in the cabin or on the property. We used to let smokers stay here, but they stink up the cabin and it is a fire hazard outside. Some cell phones don't work here, but since we have free wifi in the cabin, if your phone works with a wifi network, you are good to call. You can sometimes get Verizon service on the swinging seat by the driveway. To learn about things to do in the area, do an internet search for Santa Cruz, CA. Dogs are welcome to stay here but with a few requirements: since we have so many animals, we require that your dogs be kept on a leash when outside (the goats get very nervous with large loose dogs). Also, we don't allow dogs in the loft or on the couch downstairs so please bring a doggie bed. (your doggie can go on the couch if you bring a cover for it) If that is difficult, let us know and we will provide a doggie pillow. We have a gate that we can set up so your dog can be off the leash on the deck. If you are bringing a small child, we can put a folding futon (2/3rds of the futon or a foam pad next to the bed ) Just let us know ahead of time. Keep in mind, though, that a child should not be left in the loft by themselves as the bed is fairly high up against the rail. As we are about 3 miles to the nearest bus stop, it is pretty difficult to stay here without a car. You are invited, if you feel you would be harmonious here. Pet the goats, check out our chickens, cats, miniature dog and enjoy the very fresh air. I might even teach you how to milk a goat. If you come here when there is no moonlight and the sky is clear, you will see lots of stars. Tired of the heat in the summer? Since we are on the edge of the "fog belt", it can be both sunny and cool here. If you want a noisy place, you won't like it here: most of the sound here comes from the birds or crickets chirping, the tree frogs croaking and the breeze blowing through the trees. People do live on the land here though, so don't expect it to be totally devoid of human sounds and the occasional chain saw. : ) (We feed the goats oak branches)
Even though we live only a 8 minute drive to Aptos village and the beaches, it feels very remote and private here. It is usually very quiet at night - sometimes we can hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There is lots of land to hike on and explore here as well.
  • Kitty was an amazing host! She showed us where to hike, brought us fresh goat milk, and we had a really great time just chatting and hearing about the history of the mushroom dome. The dome itself was adorable and cozy. There was enough room for the three of us and everything worked great.

    Kat2015-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! Kitty and Michael have a very peaceful place out there and the hummingbirds were awesome. Thank you for having us and thank you for telling us about the whale watching in Monterey! We saw some whales and hundreds of dolphins :)

    Katrin 2015-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Mushroom Dome is as awesome as it looks. It's secluded enough for privacy but close enough to Kitty's home to enjoy her amazing property, which features goats, hummingbirds, chickens, cats, dogs, hummingbirds, a garden, and much more. Kitty is full of energy, knowledge, and warmth, and getting to know her was a blast. Grilling on our final night was a memorable experience. Overall, I couldn't recommend the Dome any higher! You must see it for yourself.

    Varun2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our second time back to the mushroom dome, and it was just as wonderful as the first. Tranquility, peace, and beauty - What a perfect honeymoon!

  • My son (8 yrs. old) and I had an amazing time! I highly recommend this place to everyone! The place was clean, safe and quite. Kitty was a wonderful host, she welcomed us like family. I'm truly blessed to have had this wonderful experience with my son. His already planning to come back!

    Marianne2014-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night, but we thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom dome cabin. The morning was very peaceful and Kitty was a gracious host. I also enjoyed snapping photos of the many hummingbirds that visit Kitty and Michael's feeders. We bought food on the way in at a store recommended by Kitty and stopped for amazing coffee and tea at Norma Jean's Coffee on the way out of town.

    Colleen2014-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I had such a beautiful weekend at the mushroom dome cabinJ The cabin is adorable and equpped with everything you need for the perfect weekend getaway. We brought a bunch of food to cook and spent saterday at the nearby state park to hike to a waterfall. Kitty and Michael were wonderful hosts and would definitely go back.

Enjoy peace, quiet, and beautiful views in Cazadero. For each rental, $50 will be donated to Raphael House, a San Francisco organization whose goal is to help at-risk families achieve stable housing and financial independence.
This little a-frame cabin would make a productive retreat for an artist, writer, or musician, or a romantic getaway. Surrounded by redwoods on a private road in Cazadero, my cabin is an hour and forty-five minutes north of San Francisco: a roughly ten-minute drive to the beautiful Sonoma Coast, and just fifteen minutes to Guerneville and wine country in the other direction. Head west and you’ll hit the charming town of Duncans Mills; go east to Monte Rio, and catch a movie at the historic Rio Theater. The full bed sleeps one or two comfortably. No TV or microwave; yes record player, wood-burning stove, equipped kitchen, and lots of cookbooks. The backyard is sunny and sloping with a view. There’s a table and bench on the deck for al fresco dining. And there’s speedy wireless Internet, too.
  • We loved our stay! The cabin is charming and cozy. Very quiet and peaceful. Rachel made us feel very welcome and gave great suggestions for spots to hit in the surrounding area. We cooked a (very small) Thanksgiving meal here. Probably would have been tough if it hadn't been just the two of us, but we were able to make a few small dishes and it was perfect. It was a bit chilly when we woke up in the morning, but as soon as we got a fire going in the stove the cabin got very warm and cozy. Hope to be back some day!

    Brandon2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing. Rachel had everything you could want and the place is really close to some amazing food and beaches! What more can you ask for?!!

  • Amazing place. Thoughtfully designed and decorated. Great book and record collection. Highly recommended!

    Eric2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house was really, really great! I only wish we could have stayed longer. Rachel was extremely communicative throughout and sent a great informative email about the place and tips pre-stay. The house has a wonderful cookbook collection and enough cookware to make most meals. We stayed in mid-December and we definitely needed to keep the stove burning, but once we figured it out the place was nice and warm. This spot is exactly what it looks like -- wonderful A-frame in the woods with lots of light. A truly great space!!!!

    Molly2015-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel's place is truly a wonderful gem. An amazing refuge and a place of calm and quiet. Spend an awesome time there on the coast and would highly recommend this place! The home was beautiful and had so much character

  • Great host, great cabin, great area! We were here for our first anniversary and it was the perfect getaway!

  • What an amazing experience to stay in Rachel's cabin. We wanted to live there! We loved the location and the local beaches were heaps of fun to explore. We had fun at the local sports bar too. The cabin itself has everything you need. We'd be back in a heart beat.

This inspired dwelling nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside. Reverently framed by the iconic round doorway, the wondrous views will entrance your imagination and inspire an unforgettable journey. Every nook of this little habitation will warm your sole, every cranny will charm your expedition of repose. Up the pathway, tucked into the earth, an unbelievable adventure awaits!
The majority of your neighbors will be deer, rabbits, birds & grouse. It's 2 miles up the mountain and although there are houses it gets more remote the closer you get to the hobbit hole.
  • A fantastic unique place to stay. I can't say much that hasn't been said already. You have to see it to believe it.

  • This place was amazing! Everything was exactly as pictured. The drive is do-able without 4 wheel. The views are incredible and everything was so adorable and well kept. Thank you so, so much! Everyone we know is trying to go here now! Thank you Kristie! =]

    Samantha2016-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The hobbit inn is a perfect getaway for two and even better if you have a pup! Our corgi loved bounding around the hillside and snuggling up by the fire at night. The little hobbit hole looks as good (if not better) in real life and the amenities are charming and clean. The surrounding Chelan area has lots to do and its only a little over an hour from Leavenworth if you want to add more story book charm to your stay. The drive up is not paved, but a sedan would do fine in my opinion and the walk up with make you breathe hard for a minute or two, but well worth it! We will definitely be back! Very comfortable and charming (download the movie to your laptop ahead of time and watch LOTR to add fun!)

    Jenni2016-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastically adorable hobbit hole. Amazing view. So many fun details. Interior design was really good, and we could tell a lot of care and thought went into the home. We'll never forget this experience. A few tips... pack yourself light when you get there, the hike up the hill is very short, but a little steep in a few places, wear good grippy shoes. The drive in is about 2 miles on a dusty winding dirt road. Try to get there during daylight to get the lay of the land and the feel of the road. Look out for deer, we saw a few in the road. Your vehicle will get dirty, but there is a u-wash place in Chelan that will take care of that in a jiffy. We packed non-perishable foods/snacks in glass jars (nuts, jerky, popcorn, crackers), and put them under the craft table with the coffee supplies to make a mini snack-"larder" in keeping with the theme. It's also relaxing to put out a sleeping bag and blankets to stargaze at night in front of the hole.

    Erik2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Location was far enough away from town and contained so many beautiful details that we truly felt transported to the Shire. Driving instructions were clear. Would bring a few hiking sticks next time and travel with a backpack to make it easier to get up the footpath. The earth house was warm and inviting. Never needed to use the fireplace despite the outdoor temperature of 54F on our arrival. Had no problems with the special power/water circumstances. The bed was luxurious. Enjoyable inside and out. Thank you for your attention to detail here. It was a lovely stay.

    Greg And Lauren2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's sort of difficult to sum up our experience other than to say it was magical. The house was better than described or than we even could have imagined. It truly felt like we were in the Shire with only the birds, deer, and some bugs to keep us company. We had a lovely time sitting outside watching the sunset before retiring to the comfortable bed. In the morning we opened the door and watched the sunrise from the comfort of the bed before sadly packing up and having to leave. This is a place that will long stay fondly in our memories and that we would certainly love to come back to.

    Kira2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a little space of pure joy for me. Its exactly what you would expect and more. For all of the Tolkien (URL HIDDEN) provides you with an epic little hobbit house. For anyone else, its just adorable and peaceful. The view is spectacular and every detail is absolutely perfect. Thank you for making this little home.

The Off-grid itHouse brings together raw industrial aesthetics with the tactics of green design to forge a new home in the sunbaked wilds of the California high desert.
The Off-grid itHouse is an architecturally significant house, recently noted by Dwell as one of the 'Best Homes in America' and in the Los Angeles Times as one of the best houses of all time in Southern California. The Off-grid itHouse is one of 10 IT Houses built in California, which have received much acclaim such as the Western Home award sponsored by Sunset magazine. Also noted as one of the top 10 airbnb rentals worldwide. This is the prototype for the pre-engineered system known as the IT House. The house is 100% off-grid, powered by solar panels for energy and hot water, and is located in a pristine remote valley in the beautiful California high desert. The house observes key green principals of smaller footprint, minimal disturbance to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, use of renewable resources, and living simply and minimally. The setting of the house is remote and serene, a quiet refuge from everything, free from distractions. Amazing views and vistas in all directions. Perfect for design or green aficionados, writers or those needing a secluded quiet getaway.
Located in Pioneertown, CA, nearby several unique attractions, Joshua Tree National Park, Pappy and Harriets Pioneertown Palace, local museums and art venues such as the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Desert Art Museum, the Integratron, and other seasonal events.
  • The off grid house in Pioneertown was the highlight of our accomodations through California. It was just what we needed and dreamt off after ten days of city and trekking experiences before continuing to LA and NY. We enjoed the complet calmness, fantastic view and great comfort in this very carefully concieved and most beautiful modern house with independently and perfect working sustainable energy. A masterpiece of architecture, where we felt immediately at home, appreciating the natural ventilation through the gliding glassdoors, the game of light and shadow, the pure styling in the rooms, the comfort of a dishwasher on solar energy or the real linnen in bed, while looking at the milkyways... The system entering with codes worked perfectly. Due to traffic jam we arrived in the dark and had a hard time to find the lost place. A little color on the last indication sign ev. with a solar lamp would certainly help to find the way. To everybody who estimates modern and intelligent design and looks for a completely off grid time, will love this place. We will hopefully be back some day but certainly never forget this place with Lindas great spirit!

  • The house and the setting are fantastic. It was all better than we expected. A great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. We would plan to come back again !

  • We had an amazing time at the off-grid itHouse. I would recommend with no hesitation Linda's itHouse. It's a must do! The view of the desert is amazing and the house is absolutely perfect to appreciate it. Linda built a designed AND comfortable place. Furnitures, kitchen gear, the fire place, the hammock, everything was just perfect and very well chosen. We brought books, laid down and enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the place. Unexpectedly, it was quite cloudy, it even rained for a couple of hours so we went out of power. Linda's explanations were very well described to be able to bring the electricity back. So it was not an issue at all. Our stay was an unforgettable experience!

    Corinne2014-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible house. The pictures don't even do it justice. I would love to come back here and stay on the regular. It's the perfect place to unplug and enjoy silence. Linda's instructions and tips were spot on and i had no problems getting there and back. Loved every moment there.

    Mary2014-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived with a jumbled mind and all the weight of the world on my shoulders. I left feeling energized and clear headed. Hands down the most peaceful and relaxing experience of my life. A beautiful house that lends itself to the beautiful desert.

    Ryan2013-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing house. For anyone who loves design, wildlife, outdoors and/or green - this place has it all. Stayed for three nights. Due to the nature of the full glassed room - sleeping the first night felt 'exposed', but soon got used to it. You can spend hours (with a cold beer ;)) just staring out the windows during sunset. I was rewarded with a bobcat sighting from the living room on my last night. The house can be located via GPS. Since you are in the desert, expect to 'share' the house with some neighbors. My stay included beetles, lizard and ants. Although the drive into town is less then 15 mins - suggest getting provisions for the whole stay and just enjoy the house and its surroundings. [During my stay, there was a trailer parked on the hill that looked directly into the house - hence, was not as private as we wanted it to be]

    Robert2013-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place is awe-inspiring. The functional minimal design stands in beautiful contrast to the rocky and rugged landscape. Linda has created the perfect residence.

    Robert2014-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house was stunning, one of the greatest places we've stayed in. We loved the stillness, the unimpeded views, being able to hike right from the house, the cosy fire. Thank you, Linda, for making us feel so welcome and for your helpful emails and information. We can't wait to come back!

Charming and romantic,' Round' Cottage on the Santarella Estate in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Formerly, the cottage was sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson's summer studio on the Santarella Estate. The two-story cottage has a charming bedroom with 35 foot high conical ceiling with canopied bed upstairs with views through massive, multi-paned "mill windows" to the trees and sky and out to the lily pond. The downstairs sitting room looks out on the babbling brook and lovely gardens.
Now open year-round! Charming, One Bedroom Cottage, former sculpting studio on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham, MA. Known as the "Silo Studio" Cottage. There is a bedroom with canopied queen bed upstairs and a sitting room with window bench-seat, coffee table, table and chairs, kitchenette area with wet bar with Micro/Fridge coffeemaker, toaster and bathroom with shower are downstairs. Fall asleep to sounds of the babbling brook and views to pond and forest from the large screened openings upstairs, like living in a "tree-house". Accommodates two only, fully furnished, all linens, towels included. There is Satellite DTV and Wireless Internet on site. The cottage is situated on four acres including lovely gardens, beautiful lily pond, running brooks and 2 acre woods. Absolutely unique, one-of-a-kind experience! Please Note, the cottage has traditionally been a three season rental from approximately March- November, however, due to much interest and demand, we have recently added a larger capacity pellet stove and made winterizing efforts and plan on keeping it open for guests interested in a winter experience in the cottage! Please keep in mind that access to our grounds may be limited with the accumulation of snow in winter months. During predicted extreme weather events, we will gladly work with guests to change reservations as we are always concerned for their comfort! Our lovely grounds are open to our guests. There are garden paths, babbling brook with stone bridges, loveliest of lily ponds, stone bench seating area with 'chiminea' and firewood for guest's use. There are two acres of woods with a loop trail as well. The town has an exceptionally beautiful Swimming Pond about 2 miles away which our guests may use. There are BBQs and picnic tables and it is often deserted. While we do have a pet friendly policy, prior approval and acceptance of our rules and policies is required before a pet may stay with you in our accommodations. There is also a $25.00 additional pet cleaning charge. The cottage is located on the Santarella Estate surrounded by gardens and storybook architecture. Santarella is located in the Tyringham Valley, tucked away 3.5 miles from Mass. I-90, a lovely and magical place where one feels like they have stepped back in time. This is definitely a place to 'get away from it all', enjoy quiet, rural surroundings close to the Appalachian Trail and Tyringham Cobble for hiking and many lovely ponds for swimming or kayaking. Vehicle is necessary. Grocery and other shopping at 3.5 miles.
Tyringham Valley was one of the original settlements in Western Massachusetts. It is mostly agricultural conserved land giving it a very rural, bucolic and idyllic character. The lovely 'Hop Brook' runs through the middle of the valley which is sparsely populated with mostly historic homes, making one feel like they have stepped back in time. An original, beautifully preserved Shaker settlement sits on top of the hillside opposite Santarella, overlooking it. At the far end of the valley, the gracious columns of the burned Ashintully mansion overlook the entire valley and are all that remain of the gilded-age estate which has beautiful preserved formal gardens, great to visit and hike. The Appalachian Trail is 2.25 miles from the cottage.
  • The studio cottage was truly magical. It felt like staying in a little elf house! The pellet stove kept the whole place pretty toasty. While the upstairs bedroom did get a bit cool, the mattress warmer and down comforter were more than adequate for a warm nights' sleep. The area is particularly gorgeous in the fall. Denise and her husband were welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. The buildings are a bit closer together than I thought they'd be, but overall it was a lovely place for us to have our honeymoon!

    Shelley2016-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely time in the area and a warm welcome from the helpful hosts! Gorgeous time and grounds.

    Aaron2014-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a one-of-a-kind Refuge from the day today grind. Immaculate and equally Charming. Private as the purveyors work very hard to give their guests the space they need. If not for anything else the history of this building is Rich with art and architecture. I really do not want to leave such an outstanding review in fear as I may never be able to book it again.

    Rachel 2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Denise's home is lovely. It's a great romantic getaway, and there's enough to eat and do nearby that you will not be bored! It's exactly as magical as they said. Denise was flexible with our arrival time and had a bottle of champagne waiting for us, and even gave us a tour of the rest of the property at the end. Would definitely come back! I'll add a note specifically about dog-friendliness - the listing is dog-friendly, but I might prefer to leave mine home next time. The dogs can't do their business on the lawn (which means keeping them off the lawn entirely for me) or be left alone in the property, and it's not a great spot for lots of barking either as the buildings are in close proximity. :)

    Karen2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best experience I've had using Airbnb. Denise and her husband are very attentive and the studio and grounds are nothing short of a real life fairytale. If you are looking to step inside of a Tolkien story or a witches cottage this is the place to visit. The grounds are draped in moss and beautiful trees and I was excited to enter the home only to hear a soothing brook rushing through the yard and classical music playing in the background. The studio is located about 15 minutes from restaurants and other attractions so you get the feeling of seclusion with a large selection of conveniences not far from the home. Can't wait to go back.

    Bill2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing and delightful experience. Quite frankly I was expecting the place not to live up to the descriptions online. It never occurred to me that it would exceed them. A lovely experience, can't wait to come back.

    Keri2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our host made us feel very welcome and gave us a fabulous itinerary that guided our wonderful weekend. We loved the beer she poured for us at our arrival and her restaurant suggestions were perfect. The room is extraordinary. I don't think we've ever slept in such a magical space.

    Allison2015-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot say enough about how wonderful the Silo was. The mist coming in through the wonderful wide open windows into the canopy bed was just next level amazing. Denise was incredibly kind and helpful and okay with our 8 week old puppy, who just loved walking the gorgeous grounds. If you're on the fence, stay here!

*This cabin was just featured in the New York Times!* (January 2017) A magical homesteader cabin embedded in 5 acres of unfenced Joshua Tree desert wilderness, 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. Experience peace, quiet, wildlife and STARS—on the grid but off the pavement.
If this cabin is booked on your dates, check out our other two cabins nearby ("Homestead Camp Cabin in Joshua Tree" and "Midcentury Prefab Homesteader Cabin") *** If you would like to use our cabin as a shooting location please get in touch to discuss our rates, otherwise we do not allow commercial or professional shooting of any kind (photo, video, film) during your stay. Thank you in advance! *** The restored cabin, which has been featured in the New York Times 'T' travel magazine, Wilder Quarterly, The Weekender and the book 'Jackrabbit Homestead,' was constructed in 1955 and still has its original green paint. Joshua Tree National Park is a 15 minute drive from the cabin. The Integratron and Giant Rock are also 15 minutes away. The cabin is less than two miles from artist Noah Purifoy's famous sculpture garden site. Two miles in the other direction is Dhamma Dena, teacher Ruth Denison's Vipassana Buddhist center. The always swinging Pappy & Harriet's BBQ and music roadhouse in beautiful Pioneertown is a 30-minute drive. The Lou Harrison House, which hosts occasional devotional, folk and avant garde music events in an intimate setting is less than 10 minutes away. We will be happy to give you directions to each of these unique places (and many others) that we frequent ourselves. The cabin sits on 5 acres, and feels remote, but it's just 12 minutes from downtown Joshua Tree. You will travel a few miles on a secure, hard dirt road to get here. Enjoy the spectacular panoramic sunset and sunrise—as well as a blanket of stars. In the wintertime, you can build a bonfire too. Sleep comfortably in a queen-sized bed. The renovated interior has a cookware-outfitted kitchen and dining area. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet and roofless shower a few yards from the cabin. Wireless internet is available if you require a connection to the digital world. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning. The cabin is located next to BLM land and a wildlife corridor, which means you will witness these wild animals in their native habitat. The cottontail rabbits, cactus wrens, lizards, desert tortoises, jackrabbits, coyotes, owls and roadrunners (and more!) that make the desert their home make a visit to this serene cabin all the more special. Guests may have freshly prepared organic juices made by local juice cleanse guru Angela de la Agua delivered to the cabin. A menu/pricelist is available upon request. Extra guests can sleep on the air mattress or camp on the site for an additional $30/person per night. This absolutely must be arranged with us ahead of time so that it can be reflected in the Airbnb reservation and bill. Please note that we have a TW0-NIGHT MINIMUM stay, and a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM FOR HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. This requirement allows us to keep our rates low, so that the greatest number of folks get a chance to experience being here in the unfenced desert, under the Milky Way. We donate 2.5% of our proceeds to the Mojave Desert Land Trust, an excellent local non-profit organization devoted to "protect[ing] the Mojave Desert ecosystem and its scenic and cultural resource values."
  • Jay and Stephanie were great hosts! Very accommodating, yet you'd barely know that they were there. We felt like we had our very own cabin on our very own amazing plot in Joshua Tree! The cabin is very comfortable, simple, and nicely decorated, and only 10 minutes from the park. The hammock is a must. We had a fantastic time for a birthday getaway and would love to go back for another stay.

  • What an amazing gem of a place. I've been coming to the area for years and this might be my favorite spot. Can't wait to return. Hosts were helpful, available, responsive, generous, etc. Be back soon!

  • The Homesteader cabin was exactly what we had expected! We really enjoyed the peacefulness the Homesteader and Joshua Tree has to offer. Anyone visiting the area should stay at this location. Jeremy

  • Our trip to Jay@Stephanie cabin was just perfect ! everything was as describe .. clean, all the stuff you need was there..We highly recommend this place and we definitely come back. So beautiful, thanks again

  • Prime spot for vegging out on a porch for hours looking at the landscape with no distractions. Lots of windows—there's always a panoramic desert view, even in the dark of night. Pretty impressive restoration project. It's hard to understand in the photos the awesome continuous smooth concrete slab the cabin sits on. If I'm ever back in the area I'd love to stay again. Jay was very nice and communicative and set us up when we got there.

    Robert2012-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived a bit early and Stephanie welcomed us right inside! She was finishing up cleaning the place and then showed us around. The outdoor shower and toilet were comfortable, if not a little chilly in the winter, but it was all great. The property was beautiful and clean and we'd definitely stay there again!

    Bruno2013-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks so much to Stephanie and Jay - this was a truly unique experience and the cabin is such a special place to stay in beautiful surroundings. The cabin is clean and the outdoor shower is great and easy to use. The cabin looks exactly as it does in the pictures - the directions to the cabin are super clear - on arriving we made the classic error of trying sat nav anyway and it got us completely lost - trust the instructions, switch off sat nab and it is easy to find!! Jay was really helpful showing us how everything works but it is such an easy place to stay at. Being in the desert is unique - it is so hot during the day and so cold at night so pack plenty of jumpers if you want to enjoy the star gazing - the sky here is incredible and we were transfixed watching the millions of stars that you just never see in London - here there is almost no light pollution so you get brilliant skies. We explored the Joshua Tree national park which is super easy from here - we didn't have much time but a few days and you could do all of the walks and trails. If you are thinking of visiting Joshua Tree and want a unique experience that is off the beaten track I can't recommend this enough. Elinor

    Elinor2013-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was the first time I have experienced a true desert and I was highly anticipating staying at the Homesteader since I booked with Jay and Stephanie. It was one of the coolest moments one could have! I loved every moment of it. It is a beautiful mid-century building with a lot of character - I can't explain in words, it's just soo cool! Having beers on the porch, exploring the grounds, the sunset, the stars (soo many and the Milky Way!), the wildlife...the incredibly awesome silence of the desert, the cool outdoor shower and surprisingly pleasant dry toilet lol! It was great! Totally stay here and I would do it again in a heartbeat! It's also very close to other cool and weird desert sights (Joshua Tree National park, Intergratron, etc.)

The cabin is located in a quiet family neighborhood so PLEASE respect our neighbors' peace and quiet and keep the noise down after 10PM. Also, no parties or groups exceeding 8 are allowed and may even result in immediate eviction and/or loss of deposit.
  • Everything was great! House was lovely. Ryan was very responsive and accommodating. Thank you!

    Annie2014-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, this house is amazing. It's a great scenic location surrounded by a plethora of pine trees. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet and the location is an ideal distance from the lake (approximately 10 min drive). R&D were amazing hosts. They were quick to respond to questions both before and during our stay. When we checked in, we were welcomed to a nice clean house with all the basic amenities provided (toiletries, towels, etc). For those who are planning a group trip, this house is perfect. We had a party of 4, however, the house has 2 queen beds and 2 bunk beds that can altogether sleep 8 people comfortably. There is a large dining table as depicted in the pictures, and also a large table in the rear deck along with a BBQ which is available for use if needed. Long story short, if you are a group, this place is amazing. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a nice relaxing hassle free retreat (especially if you are coming in a large group).

  • The cabin is beautifully decorated and makes you feel at home in the mountains! It is a short drive to Heavenly Ski Resort and to the casinos, etc. but also has the benefit of being quiet and secluded! Would definitely recommend staying here to visit Tahoe.

    Katie2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Visited Tahoe with My husband and two daughters (1 year old and 5 year old) and this was our experience as first timers using Airbnb. It's a beautiful cabin and it's stocked with everything you could need. Plates, cups, bowls, cutlery, pots, pans and much more. Unfortunately, it could use a bit of TLC. And when it came to bedtime I examined our sheets and found hair and other things on them, even the extra sheets in the laundry room that are supposed to be clean were in the same conditions. We had to wash the sheets ourselves well into the night. I informed Ryan and Darnie the next morning and they quickly apologized and said they would refund us the cleaning fee for the inconvenience, so that was appreciated. it does get stuffy and warm if windows are not open and there's not that many windows you can open towards the back of the house so some fans would have been great.

    Yazhmine2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Ryan was an excellent host. The chalet was exactly as described! Immaculately clean and comfortable. The TV in the spare bedroom would not connect but that was a minor glitch in an otherwise perfect weekend. Check in was easy and Ryan was gracious enough to fedex my keys to me when it was discovered I had left them behind. We will definitely stay at the Chalet again! Thanks Ryan!

  • Absolutely stunning chalet that was exactly as described and was a pleasure to stay in. We had three couples plus two small children and the chalet was plenty of space for all of us. The kitchen/greatroom was very spacious and was a perfect place for family gatherings. I highly recommend this place as an excellent alternative to staying at the hotel/casinos.

  • Unique experience at Chandler's tower! Chandler is very helpful and kindly!

  • We stayed at the tower for one night and absolutely loved it. The view was spectacular and the sunrise in the morning even better. Chandler was a great host with a wealth of knowledge on things to do and places to see nearby, highly suggest talking to him before making plans around.

  • Chandlers "Tower" is exactly as advertised...serene. The location is perfect for exploring Monterey / Carmel and then retreating into the hills. Chandler takes excellent care of his property and very responsive if you need anything - a great host. We'll definitely stay here again!

  • I can't say enough positive things about our experience at the tower. Tiger goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. As I told him, he keeps this place the way he would want it if he was staying there. Everything was clean, lovely and I have absolutely no complaints. The space is perfectly quaint and has all the little amenities anyone could need, including a small fridge, coffee pot and awesome bed! The bathroom is also great and the little walk to it is no big deal. Additionally his property is gorge, peaceful and great for star gazing! I also fell in love with his two wonderful dogs. We will definitely return!

Since we are on the hillside, there are no amenities or shops at a short walking distance, but there are several restaurants, stores and many local spots just a short drive from the house. Many of our guests enjoy hiking our beautiful neighborhood!
  • The house and location were perfect for a stay in LA - very clean and nice. It was also very quiet and the privacy was great. The hosts were pleasant and helpful with any questions I had and communicated well. I highly recommend it.

  • Hosts were very communicative throughout our visit. They provided refreshments, snacks, toiletries, and a recycling can (which we very much appreciated!). The notes and instructions about the property were excellent; this allowed us to be very self-sufficient and we were able to come and go when we pleased without feeling like we were disruptive. We were pleasantly surprised to see all of the night lighting and decor in the back patio on our first night. Driveway was much steeper than anticipated, but we worked around how to get up the hill without issue. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend their space to others.

  • Hi, we just finished our 3 weeks california trip and arrived some days ago back in Germany. We also spent 5 days @ DnA's Poolhouse and we really loved it. What you see @ the pictures is exactly what you get: a very nice Poolhouse with everything you need during a comfortable stay (even beach towels, hair conditioner, own parking place, etc.) In the evenings we spent time @our own garden and we could enjoy very nice relaxing hours with a breathtaking view. The communication with DnA was very easy. As soon as we asked some questions even before our arrival, we got the information very quickly. DnA really make you feel welcome - e.g. by personel meeting, a bottle of wine and by asking you if everything is fine... We really recommend DnA's place. Thank you for beeing great hosts. Best, Katrin & Andreas

    Andreas2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved DnA's poolhouse. The view was stunning. The house was so comfortable, every little detail taken into consideration. The owners were extremely easy to communicate with and responded immediately when we contacted them. We will stay here again when visiting LA.

  • This place goes above and beyond what you see in the pictures! We could not have asked for a better stay. Alex and Dennis were terrific;) Incredibly hospitable and enjoyable to be around. The pool and everything were always kept up, the view was spectacular, and the vibe was amazing. Thank you Alex and Dennis!!! Luke Tuke & Mike Tike

Location Location Location~ Our home is close to the Mission, Lower Haight, and 2.5 blocks from the Castro theater. The underground is 3 blocks away, with a street car even closer. The room is small and cosy, but a great price for one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the US! Please fill out your profile if you are interested~and make sure to arrange a time to meet prior to your arrival, I lead a busy lifestyle, work full time, and wouldn't want to miss anyone! Check in is at 5 and we are 37 steps up from street level. Please go light on perfume and cologne - we are allergic. Restaurants are plentiful and beautiful Dolores Park is quite close. Your room has a twin day bed 75 inches long with a desk and a solid door. The room is 9.25 feet by 8 feet. Amenities include wireless and a gorgeous full kitchen. Please ask if you would like to have a friend for a short visit.
  • Brenda is a genuine host. Her home is immaculately clean and close to transport, cafe and other utilities. I felt safe walkibg through the neighbourhood. It was nice to chat to Brenda when coming back from exploring the city. Brenda has an abundance of information and brochures on the city. The room is cosy and not noisy at all. Thanks Brenda for being hospitable and allowing me to enjoy your wonderful city.

    Angela2015-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda and her place are great. Everything was as expected from the photos and description. It's a great location and I really apreciated how organized she was, supplying maps and recommendations for things to do, places to eat etc. I would definitely recommend a stay w/ Brenda.

    Susan2011-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • OK first, Brenda is a very friendly host. When I arrived in San Francisco, she answered all my questions about public transportation, what to see and much more. She also gave me some great tips. She told me to rent a bike and ride to the Golden Gate Bridge. That was probably the highlight of my 3 days in SF. Oh and one night, we shared some trips memories. That was cool. Brenda traveled all around the world! Finally, at the end of my sejour at her place, she drove me to the rental car company (I then drove down to LA). That was very nice of her. As for the house, it was very San Francisco-ish and very well located. Which is great because I felt like I really lived in the city for 2 or 3 days. It is a very beautiful and sunny house. It is only a couple of blocks away from the subway and bus (MUNI). The room is small but perfect for a single traveler. Again, a huge window so a lot of sun. And I slept like a baby. OK I was tired but it also means the bed was comfy. Wifi Internet access for those like me who just can't spend a day without logging in to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). I definitely recommend this place!!! A++

    Jean-Sebastien2012-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was a great and gracious host and I loved the room! It was perfect and comfortable, and I ended up using the desk a lot. Plus, her toaster has a "bagel" button – need I say more?

    Molly2012-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda was an amazing host. I instantly felt comfortable and knew that I could contact her for any assistance. The room was just as described and perfect for anyone traveling alone. I loved the area of the place, so close to everything. Delores park was just a short walk away. Transportation was very convenient as well. I will definitely stay here again when I return to San Francisco. Thank you Brenda for making my stay so wonderful!!

    Victoria2013-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was wonderful staying with Brenda- she was very accommodating, plus the room is super cozy and you couldn't ask for a better location. HIghly recommended!

    Diandra2013-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda and her place are great! She's a welcoming, generous, and warm host, and her condo (beautiful, clean, and very comfortable) is very conveniently located in the city. If you have any questions about the city or need tips/advice, she's very available to help out. Her two cats and dog are a treat to be around as well. It was a very comfortable place to stay in the city (I even extended my stay there slightly after arrival!), and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone else coming to San Francisco. Thanks, Brenda!

    Brian2011-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time staying with Brenda, her apartment is beautiful and clean and located right where you want to be in San Francisco - in between the Mission and Castro. Brenda contacted me ahead of my arrival to make sure I knew how to get there and had also compiled a nice list of places to eat and drink in the area, as well as useful information about transportation and sightseeing. I would definitely recommend anyone wanting to explore San Francisco to stay with Brenda!

  • Words can't express the beauty of staying in the Pond House . Fall foliage surrounded us, the barred owl called to us in the evening and the red fox greeted us in the morning. We whole heatedly recommend staying here.

    john2013-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay. The rustic pondhouse was perfect. We brought a picnic dinner and had it by the fireplace overlooking the pond. The bike riding in the area was spectacular although you have to ready for ups and downs. Ashfield is only 1/2 hour away from where we live, but we felt like we were miles away. Beautiful scenery, a place to unplug and relax. We attended the Double Edge Theatre and would recommend that as well. Gayle and Peter were easy to talk with, yet gave us our privacy. Wonderful stay and would go back again.

    Ann2014-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle and Peter and Charlie and Jack (dogs) were amazing host. Their Pond house was something out of fabled story. Very relaxing and a nice getaway from my girlfriend and I regular pace of living. Gayle was very accommodating in letting us know all what all was around in the area from great food to water activities. I would recommend this stay to anyone who wants a break from their lives, time to disconnect. Will definitely have a future stay here.

    Michael2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a great glamping adventure this is definitely the place for you! The pond house was gorgeous and Gayle, Peter and Charlie were all great hosts! The hiking trails and the lake house were perfect day activities and the star gazing at night was incredible! Elmers for breakfast is a must! I would recommend this place to all who are looking for a way to unplug, relax and spend some time in/with nature!

    Julie2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This truly is a magical place! The host description and other reviews are spot-on. Read through everything before committing and you won't be disappointed. Every detail was in place, and we left relaxed, rejuvenated and refreshed. A reminder that although transformative, the pondhouse is still au natural. There are bugs (I gently encouraged a caterpillar and grasshopper back outside the house) and animals (not just Charlie the host dog) and exposure to the elements. If you embrace such things, you will also have as glorious of a stay as we did. We are scouring our calendars this very minute to plan a trip in the fall; we can't wait to return! Thank you to Gayle and Charlie for their hospitality.

    Margaret2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The pond house was a very special experience: in the woods right in the middle of nowhere and heavenly calm - except for nocturnal concerts of frog voices. No phone, no Internet - and the kids loved it! If nothing else this was owed to Charly, Gayle's incredibly charming dog which even I as a non-dog-person fell for. By the way, I'm a non-camping-person either. But I thoroughly enjoyed my outdoor experience - particularly being warm in a cosy bed and waking up in the morning surrounded by light green and sunshine. As to the more logistic side of our stay: The bathroom was very nice and clean and we had everything we needed to be comfortable - even headlamps and bug repellent were provided. Finally, Gayle was a very welcoming and pleasant host. My kids have already decided to be back when the new house in the woods is finished.

    Sabine2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Pondhouse was my girlfriend and I's first experience using Airbnb, and it went above and beyond what we imagined! We were looking for someplace unique and memorable to spend our anniversary, and Gayle was quick to respond and was wonderfully accommodating. Just as the name suggests, the Pondhouse truly felt like a country escape. Coming up the driveway of the property, we were greeted by Charlie (the friendliest dog... ever!), and Gayle gave us a tour of the Pondhouse and the rest of the property. Luckily we packed some food to bring with us, because once we got there we didn't want to leave! The Pondhouse itself was even more stunning in person than it was in the pictures, and it felt nice and secluded so you really got the sense that you had your own space to enjoy in privacy. We got a fire going with the wood that was provided, where we grilled some food as the sun went down. The Pondhouse was stocked with all of the essentials that you would need for the night, and all of the furniture was super comfortable! We couldn't believe how relaxing the Pondhouse was, we felt like we were in another world. As sad as we were to have to leave, we were already planning when we would make it back! It was the perfect couple's getaway for a romantic retreat, but it could also be a great place to stay with others who share a passion for nature and camping, but would like to do it in a unique way! It feels like we haven't been able to stop talking about it since we came back, so we'll certainly have to make a trip back sometime in the near future! The Pondhouse is a place that we'll never forget, and it was the perfect place that made our anniversary even more of a day to remember. We highly recommend visiting the Pondhouse, its the kind of place that makes Airbnb such a great resource, to find hidden gems like this!

    John2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Gayle and Peter were incredibly kind (as was their dog Charlie), and we enjoyed the cool October air next to a great fire and then among all the warmth of the pondhouse. The photos don't do their handiwork justice — the reeds are as soft and bright as you can imagine, and it makes a beautiful space to take a bit of time for contemplation, reading, and good conversation. The walk up to the house for the bathroom as even a welcome one, a chance to look back and marvel (and get some delicious tea). Gayle had great recommendations for Ashfield and Shelburne Falls. We'd love to come back. Thank y'all so much!

Check out our 5 other boats available for rent as well! Pirates Life was featured on Tiny House Hunters, but far from tiny! Stays toasty warm in winter months and refreshingly cool in the summer. This floating abode was gutted & completely rebuilt using reclaimed materials, sweat, & love. You'll find her spacious, comfortable, & peaceful. The location of this boat is for people looking for tranquil, private, and quiet getaway. Enjoy coffee & cocktails on the large deck overlooking the harbor.
Featured on FYI Network's Tiny House Hunters! Very spacious houseboat with vaulted 12' ceiling in the main cabin (living room). Sleeps 3 comfortably. Lots of room to move around with a queen size bed in the Captain's Quarters (Bedroom) and a twin bed in the living room that's a day bed. The boat is located downtown in a PRIVATE slip at Seabreeze Marina. This accommodation is for people looking for peace and tranquility in a unique and beautiful houseboat. The setting of the marina is quiet and secluded. In your private slip, you'll have a stunning view of Charleston Harbor and the Ravenel Bridge. FAQ: Q: Bathroom, explain! A: The boat is equipped with a house sized water heater ensuring you get hot water throughout the boat. Know, however, that you are staying on a boat. Long hot showers can be difficult. But you'll always have enough hot water to enjoy a 10 - 15 minute shower. The boat has a full sized toilet and we ask that you ONLY always use marine grade toilet paper (included) to ensure it never clogs. Q: Heat? AC? A: Our boats are equipped with BOTH heat and AC. No matter the time of year you visit you can be assured that you will be staying in a nice comfortable environment! Q: What to expect that's different than a hotel? A: It's a boat, it is a unique FUN experience. There may be noises and smells that you'd expect from a boat. Pumps, motors, ocean water, etc. Q: Wave action? A: The marina has a sea wall which dilutes the waves. There is still a small amount of wave action and you'll feel a slight rock from time-to-time. If there's a bad storm or the wave action gets to a point that your stay is no longer enjoyable, we will work out alternative accommodations for you. Your comfort is our top priority. This offer is only if there is abnormal waves due to major storms. 99% of the time the marina is almost totally flat and calm. Q: Handicap accessible? A: No. You'll need to get on the boat which requires a 1-2' step and there are steps on the boat. The deck stairs are steep and you'll need to be sure footed. Q: Space? A: You'll find the layout of the boat extremely spacious and comfortable.
Extremely safe and private marina in downtown Charleston. The entrance to the marina is shared with the Port Authority which has a 24/7 guard. There is a train which blocks the road to the marina leading into the port authority but it only comes 1-2X per day. Sometimes it can block the roadway for up to 20 minutes but that is infrequent.
  • This was my first experience with airBnb and it definitely set the standards high for my next trip! There's no better way to get the full experience of this beautiful port city than staying on a boat. The houseboat itself is impeccably done, clean, and comfortable. The expansive bedroom windows give an unhindered view of the sunrise over the water, where we also saw dolphins jumping everyday. Justin went out of his way to make this a great stay for us! This is definitely a must if you're coming to charleston. The hotel amenities and free trolley to downtown are definitely a great bonus!

    Jessica2014-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a great spot and a wonderful long weekend. For us the weather was such that we couldn't spend time on the deck, but the space heaters made for cozy spaces below.

    Joseph2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This boat was awesome and was advertised accurately. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

    Benton2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Houseboat life is fun! I definitely recommend staying on one of Justin's boats for a fun getaway and a nice change from your normal airbnb experience. The location of the boat is great. A perfect view of the Arthur J Ravenel bridge, and super close to everything Charleston has to offer. We sat on the rooftop and watched the sunset on our first night, and we woke up to dolphins swimming by in the morning. The houseboat is as described in the listing and there were no surprises upon arrival. One thing to note is that there are 4 other houseboats on the same dock (all owned by Justin) so you will most likely have neighbors. Even so, we still felt that we had enough privacy. Check-in and check-out was a breeze and Justin was super easy to work with.

    Zach2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The whole package is a unique experience unlike any other AirBnB my girlfriend and I have ever stayed at. We've been to Charleston a few times and thought we'd continue our food tour again this time around. However, we found ourselves spending most of our vacation atop of the house boat, drinking wine and admiring the view. A hammock and the steady rock of the cooper river convinced us to forget about most everything else and truly relax while enjoying each other's company. Accompany that with Justin's hospitality, excellent communication, and professionalism and you've got the highest level of AirBnB comfort I've ever encountered.

    William2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late at night and the boat was all ready for us. It has a small fridge, hot plates (strong enough to cook on), microwave and all the cooking/dining utensils you could need as well as soaps and sponges to clean. The house was very clean and spacious. It's like living in a small apartment. Be prepared to walk about 1/4 mile to the boat from the parking lot, as they are doing construction so half the parking lot at the marina is unusable and thus very full. There's lots of parking, it is just further away. We were a little cold because it was 30-40ºF while we stayed, but the heaters ultimately did a great job of warming the boat up. This would be an amazing place to stay during the spring and summer, I can only imagine how fun it would be to watch fireworks or something off the patio on the back. You'll see dolphins every day, especially around tide change times.

    Christina2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful overnight stay aboard the A Pirate's Life For Me! The houseboats was just as described, but looked even better in person! The pool and hot tub amenities were a huge plus! Shauna was very responsive to our questions and needs. We will stay again!

Also, those who are very light sleepers should consider using earplugs if the possibilty of sounds of coyotes, owls, rooster or dogs keep them awake. While we strive to avoid working around the Yurt during early morning or late afternoon when guests like to relax, we will be tending the gardens, etc. during the day which many guests find fascinating. • The main reason I chose this yurt (even though it was pricey for the size and amenities) was because they offered a wonderful dinner and breakfast so I didn't have to deal with the crowded restaurants of Malibu on a Saturday night. I messaged bibi repeatedly to confirm the menu only to find out only a week in a half before my stay that she is out of town and cannot prepare the meals. I understand it's not her fault and I could've just cancelled the reservation and tried to find a different place. But It was already so close to the trip so I Decided to go for it and hoped the yurt was still everything I hoped for. The place was nice and quiet and the yurt was adorable but the pool area was really dirty (chairs were dirty and table cloth looked scratched up and I would not be able to eat a meal off of that) linens and towels smelled old and dusty. As I thought we did have trouble finding a place to eat dinner on a Saturday night.

  • I loved Bibi's place! The drive up and down the canyon/mountains is gorgeous, and the farm is really cool. Bibi's instructions for check in were super clear and she's great with communication. Recommended.

  • Bibi's yurt is really pretty (nice woven wall hangings), and it was spotless, ventilated, & well appointed with all the conveniences you could want (refrig, Keurig coffe maker, Adirondack chairs and night lighting outside). My friend drove up from OC and I drove down from Santa Barbara for a quick visit, and the yurt + Bibi's hospitality made for the perfect mini-retreat. Thanks for the fresh lemonade, and access the (URL HIDDEN) was sooo nice just to hang out and enjoy the loveliness, and thank you, too, Bibi, for all of your helpful suggestions and good communication.

  • This was absolutly everything and more! We stayed in the yurt, it was rustic and elegant, peaceful and serene. there were so many things that contributed to this wonderful getaway! We traveled from Arizona, but let me tell you LA you have a gem in your own backyard! I HIGHLY recommend having dinner there, the service, environment and fresh food beats restaurant!!! And this was One of the highlights of ourn entire trip: a homemade dinner prepared by Bibi and drinks by Bruce. Paul and I requested a meal for two when we first booked the Yurt. Well, we alson had relatives staying in LA t who we only see once a year, we were torn, go into LA hang out with family, or the two of us enjoy our meal here as planned, but it was remedied fast! Bibi and Bruce warmly extended their home to them.t This was fantastic as we were able to enjoy our family without leaving our sancturary! Let me tell you it was no average meal! It started out with cocktail hour by the pool where Bruce whipped up some mean garden fresh mojitos! We caught up and chated with homemade guacamole a cheese plate and those delicious mojitos! Then as the sun was setting, all 5 of us moved up to the deck with the most amazing view and Bibi served us the most delicious meal everyone devoured! Locally caught seafood, farm fresh greens, lavender strawberry shortcake and lots of organic wine, that they have on sight at a very resonable pricemight I add! It made the family gathering so special, they are still talking about it as are we. Some other highlights that contributed to such a lovely experience: Lavender lemonade wainting for us upon arrival, Bruce hanging out with us at dinner chatting it up with us, with his relaxed wit kept us smiling, Bibi's wisdom and spunk and open heart, a fabulous human being, the fellow who works on their property, I was picking some fruit and he came out with a ladder and made sure to pick me the juciest gems from the tree, and his disposition was so kind, Bibi's lemon marmalade, (amazing with cheese), the inviting demeanor they both possess, makes you feel comfy cared for and quite special, THEIR gratitude for us, OUR gratitude for them! they do this all with ease and before you know it, you've got two new friends :) The location is intimate yet very close to anything in Malibu you need to get to, but why leave? Its so fabulous there! I highly recommend this for just a faboulus meal with friends and family or an extended getaway. Your vacation will become a celebration of all things wonderful! thank you again Bibi and Bruce, you guys rock! Love Deana and Paul, Flagstaff Arizona

  • The Yurt was just the best, it is a magical place. It was a highlight of our trip -- Our fifteen year old son (not always the easiest to please) was very impressed with me for "discovering" this special place. Bibi was a great host. We wished that we could stay longer -- Malibu is a great part of Los Angeles to explore. We hope to return soon.

  • Staying at the Malibu Yurt was a dream. My husband and I decided to get away for our anniversary and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. The yurt was comfortable and relaxing, the property beautiful, and the hosts very gracious and helpful. My favorite part was the hiking trail immediately accessable off of the property. A lovely, lovely place. There were a few night time critters that entered (baby scorpion anyone?!) but that was part of the appeal and charm for us. Don't hesitate to book here. It's absolutely worth it.

    Holly2014-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect way to spend our 25th anniversary! We had a short but wonderful stay with Bibi. The yurt was well appointed with super - comfy bedding, the pool is a wonderful mineral oasis, and we enjoyed one of Bibi's farm - to - table dinners on the deck, looking out over the Malibu hills to the ocean. Extraordinary! Bibi left us to enjoy our time together, but we had a nice time to chat as well. We loved getting to know her and her special home. We also really appreciate the care she takes for the land and water. A+!

    Martha2014-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bibi was super responsive, super amicable to my ideas for my stay with my new fiance. :D I'd recommend anyone stay with Bibi for any occassion!

Romantic hideaway! This property has the lush beauty and privacy of Hana, without the drive! Only 15-20 minutes to the airport, 10 minutes to beaches, 2 minutes to restaurants and shops...on a private gated property with organic nursery. BEAUTIFUL!
This place is a gem! SO CUTE! A recently remodeled 1930's cottage....that Jimi Hendrix stayed in when he was on Maui in 1970 to film Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful, quiet...REAL Maui! Recently remodeled, very cute! It is lined with cedar on the inside so it smells delightful when you walk in.... The Gingerbread House is a studio cottage with a kitchenette (toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, counter-top burners, full sized fridge) and spacious bathroom with a large custom-built, tiled shower.. It has high cathedral ceilings with a huge window that looks out on beautiful lush greenery. It is on a gated property. There is wireless Internet in the cottage, but in the event it isn't working, there is wireless available to you in other locations on the property. We have gotten the internet FIXED since the reviews were written so it is WORKING IN THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE AGAIN! (as of 1/16/17) It has a queen sized bed, as well as a day bed (can be used as a twin), and an outdoor patio under the spectacular tree canopy. The property is on 4.5 acres of lush beauty with a seasonal stream, an organic veggie start farm, fruit trees galore (help yourself when in season....) papaya, banana, lilikoi (passion fruit), coffee, plantains, oranges, mac nuts, avocado, lychee, mango, guava, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, coconuts, noni....and you also have access to an additional 4 acres on the adjacent property—which is home of The Sacred Garden—beautiful!. WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 13.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the airbnb fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE as a resolution request through Airbnb for the additional fee. (They do not add extra fees to the resolution requests.) The tax is $18 -26 a night depending on the time of year (price per night). PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry! We have a 3 night minimum however we will book for 1-2 nights if the nights are available between other bookings so feel free to check with us. We have a 5 night minimum during Holiday periods like Christmas. We are in an awesome location just 20 minutes from the airport and Costco, and only 2 miles to Makawao town restaurants and shops, 7 minutes to Paia, 5 minutes to Haiku town. 50 Minutes to Haleakala National Park entrance. We also have a house on the property that is a vacation rental as well so if you need more space for a larger gathering let me know! I offer retreat services—relationship coaching, personal and spiritual growth, guided labyrinth walks and work with Maui's best practitioners so if you want more than a vacation, let me know! We can help you with everything from Massage, to intuitive readings! I also perform weddings so if you are thinking of getting married while you are on Maui....I can also help you with that! This rental is on the property adjacent to The Sacred Garden which has two walking labyrinths, water lily ponds, meditation gardens, and more ...and is free and open to the public daily. We have caterers available in needed. The elevation is about 1000 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and can assist you booking Scuba Diving with the best dive operation on Maui. You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. We have a HUGE friendly dog on the property... he is great...but be forewarned he is BIG! (180 pounds)...not a barker, super sweet. We also have 4 cats on the property but no animals are inside the cottage. There are wild chickens and roosters and cows on the property across the stream. Please keep in mind that this is a jungle environment and it is nearly impossible to keep all insects out of any accommodation in Hawaii unless we poison the place. If you are phobic of insects, the jungle will not be your best bet. Gecko lizards are also common inside the houses here.
This area is a magical well kept secret on Maui. We are located at the dividing line between the wet side and the dry side, which means we get enough rain to stay green, and enough sun to stay sane! We get rainbows almost daily and are the perfect temperature (60's at night, 70's-80's in the day).
  • Eve was great and the cabin adorable. We kept to ourselves for the most part, as we were in a romantic getaway. Any guide we did have questions or need anything Eve was there to help out. Thanks Eve!

    Kate2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing retreat in the jungle. It is a great stepping off point to Haleakala, paia, road to Hana. Eve was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Maui. Make sure to take the time to experience the gardens and labyrinths.

    Kerri2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • From the first moment, we felt very comfortable in the gingerbread house. We had an amazing time there and Eve was very nice and friendly to us. Everything in the house was very clean. Especially we enjoyed the lovely garden and the surrounding in general.

    Tamara2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the absolute best serene place we've been! The location was wonderful, secluded but still convenient to all of the wonderful sights of the island. Eve was a wonderful host and her Sacred Garden was absolutely beautiful and inspiring! She had great insight to the activities around Maui without being intrusive. We loved all the little touches in the house and enjoyed our stay immensely! We'll definitely be back!

    Tracey2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • What a great, charming little cabin in the jungle! Very cozy and clean, perfect for my wife, son and I. It is a 5 minute drive to Makawao which is a fun little town with restaurants and cafes and a 10 minute drive to funky Paia and it's awesome beaches. This was also a good location for driving to the summit of Haleakala to catch sunrise. Highly recommended!

    Christopher2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Eve was away so unfortunately we didn't meet her, however Steve her husband welcomed us and told us all about the house and the gardens. It was all that we expected a charming cosy house well equipped and very comfortable. As the house is totally made from Cedar wood the smell inside was fantastic always fresh and calming. The house is close to Paia and the lovely beaches - 10-15 minute drive, all of which are on the Hana highway so easy access to the airport at Kahului and 'The road to Hana I would definitely recommend staying here if you want quiet country style accommodation with easy access to everything else.

    Rojer2015-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful Location, great host, everything very tidy and just perfect!

    Vesna2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The gingerbread house is more than we expected. The surroundings are very peaceful. It is a welcome change from staying on the beach. Yet the beaches are fairly close, as are many upcountry sites. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with this house.

  • This place is beautiful and perfect! I was attending a conference and this location made it perfectly accessible while still giving me a vacation feel. This is a perfect spot for exploring Denver and for enjoying a peaceful getaway with everything you need!!

    Katie2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Carriage House was absolutely perfect! The entire place was beautiful, spotless, and homey. Mick and Patrick truly thought of every amenity that you could need throughout the entire house and was far more accommodating than staying in any 5 star hotel. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and everything else we needed to make a few things on our own. The location was perfect, close to downtown, but close access to interstates: 30 minutes from Red Rocks, 30 minutes from Boulder, 10 minutes to downtown. There are so many wonderful place to eat close by in the neighborhood: Dunbar, The Walnut Room, Rosenberg's, and Crema. And great places to explore closer to downtown Denver: Bones and Marco's Coal Fired Pizza. We loved our stay and will totally stay here again the next time we are in Denver!

    Kellie2015-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. Exactly as described. Mick was very nice and accomodating. Highly recommended, we would definitely stay here again.

    jackson2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is the stuff vacation dreams are made of and the reason why AirBnB beats hotels (hands down in praise of this place). Mick was incredibly nice and welcoming upon arrival. He even went so far as to ensure there were fresh, white robes for us hanging in the bathroom and that I was able to find the well-thought out binder that showcases things to do in the area and maps for getting to those places (dog parks, dispensaries, restaurants, groceries). The place is even more amazing than the pictures. You have your own separate area behind their historic house. There is an electronic keypad for entry and exit. There is also a small outdoor gate that allows you to enclose the back porch area which was perfect for keeping our puppy outside but also out of trouble in their nice manicured yard. The carriage house is straight out of HGTV. It was full of character and the attention to detail was incredible. The house is walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, and food. There are parks all around the neighborhood. If you have a chance to stay here, I'd jump on it.

    Doug2015-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you're considering booking here, look no further and just DO IT! So worth it. This place was absolutely wonderful and perfect - even better than it looks in pictures! We loved using the hot tub and luxurious bath robes, the bed was super comfy, and everything about the carriage house was warm and cozy. Mick was so super welcoming and honestly a delight - perfect, generous host! Best Airbnb I've been at in a while. Thanks for the great stay, Mick!

    Jade and Kellie2016-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I saw this beautiful and unique spot and decided to do our engagement pictures here for a cute "at- home" session. We also got to use the park a block away. It was better than we even imagined! The pictures don't do a justice for how adorable and romantic the house is! The owners are fabulous too! Super sweet and put refreshments and snacks in the house for us. Highly recommend for a photoshoot or a romantic night out!

    Shanel2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the carriage house and Mick is a great host. It's a beautiful space with lots of natural light and the decor is perfect. It's so homey and welcoming. They have really thought of all the details including drinks and snacks! The location is on a quiet street tucked away behind the main house. Added bonuses are a hot tub accessible to guests, CrossFit classes next to the carriage house led by Mick and a great little patio with a grill for warmer weather. I had a rental car and street parking was not an issue. It's centrally located and close to everything. The only downside- my visit was only one night. My goal is to go back for a longer visit. Thank you Mick and Patrick!

    Alex2016-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly comfortable stay at Mick's Carriage house. Super private, clean and comfortable. We were busy in Denver, but it was such a treat to come back to the Carriage House in the evening. Took advantage of the hot tub on a couple of evenings ... was perfect.

This a rural desert location. The Tile House is a magical place. A vortex in the desert of love and space. This is the place to retreat and unwind, find yourself, breathe and explore. Not available or appropriate for parties or large gatherings. A spot to meditate, cook, and watch the sky, the clouds and stars at night. A healing, colorful environment for rejuvenating your spirit and soul.
A two bedroom house with outdoor hot tub and gorgeous views, and gated courtyard with firepit. Queen-sized beds, picture windows, cotton linens, and towels. Fabulous and reliable WiFi. iPod dock with speakers. Full Kitchen, refrigerator, coffee maker, mixing bowls, wood-burning stove, swamp cooler. Laundry facility on site. Fireplace and pellet stove. Dog-door for your pet to access a fenced and secure yard. Great for large get togethers or a romantic getaway. Sleeps 4 comfortably but also has a sofa sleeper for a kid. Cradled inside and outside by a mosaic made of Mexican tile, smalti, handmade Perry Hoffman ceramics, tile and fused glass, found desert tiles, found objects, stained glass and ceramic bric-brac, THERE you find yourself situated in complete silence, watching the desert light crawl across the fast and intricate landscape which is ALL around you. 7 miles from the town of 29 Palms and the east entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. 360 degree views amid the peace and quiet, beauty and wonder, where indoor and outdoor osmosis expands your exposure to the desert. Touches of luxury, whimsy, and function make the visitor feel safe but also adventurous. Perry has been working on his roadside attraction / museum / gallery / magic spot / mosaic house since it began in 2000. 11 years later, 800 sqft were added, and approximately 2500 sqft of mosaic applied and grouted. Glass fused baubles, hand made ceramics and a magical desert. This desert homestead turned beacon of love vision is waiting to reach the stars. The Tile House sits in the middle of the vast and open desert. You need not walk two feet to be a part of the wilderness, now it is up to you to look around both macro and micro and see what you can see here. Jack rabbits, cottontails, ravens, scorpions, desert iguana, snakes, Gambel's quail, lesser night hawks, owls, coyotes, roadrunners, sphinx moths, and kangaroo rats, flash floods, dust devils, lightning storms, sunsets, summer rains, empty roads, wildflowers, and cacti are some of the things you might happen to see. Walk gently in nature. At night, absorb the clear starry skids, and August and November meteor showers. Remember, there are rusty bits and broken tiles in the sand. This is a work in progress. Be careful and don't walk about barefoot. You have been warned. Not recommended for children, unless prior arrangements and agreements are made. You are ironically completely alone in the middle of nowhere and the center of the universe.
  • I cannot express how much I love staying at the magical peaceful Tile House. Perry has created such a expressive creative desert oasis. This is my second time staying at the Tile House and I'm sure I'll be back again.

    victoria2014-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perry's magical home once again provided me and my family a healing experience. Thank you Perry for your attentive communication and creating such a welcoming house.

    Conner2015-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is even better in person! My boyfriend and I and our dog rented Perry's place for one night on Thanksgiving and it was a wonderful way to spend our holiday. I was afraid that we would be bored in the middle of nowhere with no TV, but there was so much to see in the home. We cooked in the cute kitchen that was full of the basics (pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, bowls, spices, wine opener, you name it!). We roasted marshmallows using the fire pit and enjoyed the hot tub. The fenced in area was so nice for our dog--not to mention the bonus of the doggy door from one of the bedrooms. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to see the stars or the sunset, but we would definitely come back for this next time we're going to Joshua Tree. Perry was so communicative and kind prior to our arrival. His pellet stove wasn't working, so his housekeeper brought us heaters. He even offered to pay for our wood if we wanted to heat the fireplace in the middle room for warmth because it was a cold night. We are so happy we spent Thanksgiving here. Thank you, Perry for sharing your charming, eclectic and perfectly curated home with us!

    Tiffany2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most magical weekend of my life staying at the Tile House. I cannot wait to visit again. Perry was the absolute best host, and I can't express how much it meant to stay in his warm and loving home.

    Emily2015-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perry's Tile House is hands down the most magical place I have ever been to, something that dreams are made of. Not only was the house/property entirely perfect for a joshua tree get away, but Perry additionally took great care of us providing a clean space, instructional notes around the house on how to use all of the appliances, and everything else we could need. Truly a very special experience to be had; I feel very lucky to have been welcomed into this home and I highly recommend this beautiful space.

    kaitlin2015-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time at the Tile House, and it was even better than the first! There's even more art and new things to see. With the glorious sunrises, magical setting and desert landscape, it's a photographer's dream house. The beds are cozy, the shower great and the kitchen is nice to cook in. Perry is awesome and it's so fun step out of the rat race and into his wonderland every once in a while to completely decompress.

    Lynda2014-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The tile house was so inspiring and magical to stay in. Covered in color inside and out its a real art piece. Perfect get away in the beautiful desert, we enjoyed some gorgeous sunsets from the hot tub. The patio is great soak up some sun or enjoy a fire under the milky way. Inside was so comfortable, great kitchen, living room with tranquil waterfall and a nice electric fire kept the whole house warm. My boyfriend and I loved our stay especially the dogs who got to run around and play in the sun. This place would be great to hosts some friends or a great romantic getaway. We can't wait to go back!

    McKenzie2015-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time staying at the Tile House! It was in the middle of nowhere, and we loved it. It is by far the most unique space I have ever stayed in, and the decor is crazy and out of this world. We loved the fire pit patio hangout, and the fenced in yard was perfect for our pooch who spent a lot of time exploring the huge yard. The house was much bigger than the photos look, and the kitchen was excellently equipped with all the pot/pans/utensils we needed. What a gem!

  • Whitt and Martha's yurt was a perfect place to relax, unwind and get away from the city. It was warm, cozy, and had everything we needed. We will be back!

  • What can I say that won't sound like hyperbole? Whitt was an amazing host. The Yurt is just as amazing as the pictures make it out to be, the location was terrific for a vacation, and the view was astounding! I will be coming back to this place for vacation in the future, it's the best B&B I have ever stayed at.

  • Very nice yurt. Whitt and his wife are extremely friendly, and their breakfast is wonderful.

    Stephen2011-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend. The other reviews have said it all really but just to echo - the yurt is beautiful, breakfasts were delicious and Whitt, Martha and Mia were all great hosts. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend and can't wait to come back with some friends.

    Kate2011-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Yurt was amazing! We loved every bit about our stay there. Whitt, Mia and Brendan were so nice to give us a tour of the farm to meet all of their happy animals. The breakfasts were delicious and were brought right to our door! We've only been gone a day and I miss the Yurt already. We'll definitely be back. Couldn't have asked for a better trip and experience.

    Chad2012-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could live in this Yurt. I didn't know what a yurt was- but I bet this is the best one ever. The design inside is gorgeous. Whitt is an amazing host. We unfortunatley had a late evening arrival time- but Whitt had the hot tub going for us, the fireplace on, and a tray of snacks. Best space to arrive in after a very long day of driving. We were also greeted with a delicious gourmet farm breakfast in the morning- and were able to meet his wonderful animals- including 2 gorgeous dogs.. I am definetly going to make time to stay longer at this yurt. I am grateful I found it! I highly recommend it to a romantic couple- Or a group of close freinds! It'd be so fun to hang out and cook, and play the collection of instruments he keeps upstairs (trumpet, guitar, etc) awesome!

  • The welcoming and warm Ledford family, Whitt, Martha, Mia, Henry, and others along with a trio of loving dogs are the heart and soul of an amazing organic and sustainable farm. The idea to begin a B&B with this incredible yurt was a stroke of genius. This was, by far, one of the most restorative and rejuvenating weekends that we have enjoyed away in a very long time. The yurt is a seemingly magical place that exudes a sense of peace and serenity. It is an inspired concept, delightfully decorated with careful attention to every detail. Sitting and listening to the sounds of nature and the farm animals below while sipping a glass of wine on the deck after a swim in the salt-water pool and sitting in the hot tub was an experience not soon forgotten. Daily life can be a sprint from one task to another, while the yurt is a savoring of one moment to another. The breakfasts were inventive, farm-fresh and delicious. After breakfast, Mia treated us to a farm tour that was both informative and fun, we met alpacas, goats, chickens, baby turkeys, sheep, and a very talkative pig. We took nearby hikes in Shenandoah National Park. We had the 3-course dinner prepared and delivered to the yurt on one evening and it was delicious from start to finish, the finish being a decadent flourless chocolate cake with the best homemade ice cream…ever! They graciously accommodated my gluten-free diet and that can be a challenge for a chef, but they did it with a smile and every dish was excellent. While we knew the farm was buzzing with activity and the family was hard at work, they made it all seem so effortless and natural that it was easy to forget they were working while we were playing. On our way out, we purchased some soaps and goat cheeses made on the farm. The cheese is wonderful, as we learned early on from the welcome platter that Whitt delivered to us upon our arrival. We were so immediately taken with this happy place that on our first hour there, we booked a return visit for the end of the summer. This is a hidden gem and we can’t wait to get back to see the family, the farm, and enjoy the yurt that this remarkable family shares with those of us lucky enough to have found it. We are already looking forward to August!

  • One of the most interesting places attended on airbnb: not only just a trip in Maine but a whole experience about music & mystic & human perception. This is a place that makes you fill better, so I was really touched by the experience on my way back and I recommand you to try it just if you are not the type of tourist that is just looking for another consumistic experience. There are not many places like this around, it gave to our trip in Maine the touch of something very special we won't forget. Thanks Alan!

    alba2014-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The listing was very accurate. The cottage is beautiful; it lies in a great location (super close to the coast & Acadia National Park). Alan made us feel right at home with plenty of amenities provided. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Phil2014-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had another great stay at Alan's cottage. Its musical feng shui along with the fragrance of fresh pine inspired a creative and productive weekend. It's always a pleasure to be able to unwind for a bit while retaining access to modern comforts (including stable Wi-Fi, cable TV, and modern appliances). An added bonus: Step outside the back door on a clear night, and one can view the Milky Way across the sky!

    Maria2015-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place! Alan was a gracious, helpful host and the location was idyllic. The cottage was well stocked, including the kitchen, which had everything I needed to cook meals. A perfect place to visit if you are looking for some R&R in a scenic location. I will be sure to return!

    Maria2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Experiences like staying with Alan are the reason we would choose Airbnb over a hotel anytime. Alan is a great host. He showed us around on his very big property and got us acquainted with a local artist. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. The location is great if you are looking for a quiet getaway from the city. Communication with Alan was easy. We'd definitely recommend staying there and hope we can come back some day.

    David & Anke2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's cottage is an excellent opportunity to get away for the hustle and bustle, and spend quiet contemplation in a minimalist environment. The grounds have a wonderful history, and Alan is generous with his time and knowledge to share and tour together. The space is clean and private, and within a close proximity to a host of outdoor pursuits.

    Christopher2014-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Alan's cabin for five days and used it as base to explore Acadia and the surrounding coast, islands and towns. The relatively close proximity to both the national park, deer isle and the blue hill area made it perfect. The place itself is also beautiful. While we were there, Alan had planned both a jazz concert and an opera performance in the neighboring concert barn (hall). He also gave us an interesting tour of the Buddhist 'zendo' next door! He was very helpful and pleasant to be around. He is building an extra cabin which unfortunately caused some construction noise one morning. In the long run however, this extra cabin will just make it possible for more people to experience this unique place in Maine!

The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more. This cozy retreat is nestled in an elm grove along the banks of Smith Creek on 10 beautiful acres shared with the owners. Thanks for understanding! Single night bookings: We have a two night minimum, but when there is a single night gap in the schedule we are happy to accept a single night booking for an additional $25. Just shoot us a message with your date and we'll go from there.
  • Jennifer and Greg made us feel so welcome and were very accommodating. This was me and my boyfriend’s first experience booking through Airbnb and they set the bar high for our next trip by providing a great environment for us to relax in and take in our surroundings. The description was spot on and we had such a great time exploring. Would definitely recommend to all my friends! We accidentally locked ourselves out of the trailer the first night and Greg was gracious enough to unlock it for us Plus, we got a little lost on the way in and got quick directions too!! All the little details they added were great. From country/bluegrass cds to local coffee, I felt like they went out of their way to make it special. Absolutely beautiful place and can’t wait to visit again.

  • Awesome place, awesome location, awesome hosts. They even give you coffee and eggs to get your morning started.

  • We had a wonderful time staying at the Dixie Daisy! It was private like we wanted, we did not run into anyone while we were there. If we are back in the area, we will certainly consider returning! The town of Wimberley is very nice as well!

  • Last week my fiancé and had a wonderful experience staying in the Dixie Daisy! I loved our stay so much I even tried to convince my fiancé that we should invest in a vintage airstream trailer of our own! Jennifer and Gregory were extremely accommodating, and their property is very beautiful. We loved walking along the creek and just sitting up in the tree-house enjoying the beautiful scenery. We were also very impressed with the care put into the construction of the tree house and sever other little things we noticed during our stay (the way the tree-house ladder was build caught my fiancé's eye). The trailer itself was beautifully done and was even air conditioned! Jennifer and Gregory seemed to have thought to include every thing we could have possibly needed, right down to the charcoal for the grill! A lot of care was taken to ensure the accommodations were very friendly to the environment, which is something we always look out for when we're away. We had a wonderful time staying in the Dixie Daisy and would recommend it to anyone looking for some quality time to relax :)

    Heather2013-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a wonderful stay. We unfortunately only had one day at the airstream but we both agreed it was our favorite part of the trip around texas. Cute town, lots of restaurants and shops, and the hosts and place were wonderful. Would love to book with them again.

    Maddie2015-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • My pup and I spent 4 nights of pristine privacy in the magical, well-appointed realm of the Dixie Daisy, and I cannot wait to book my next visit. Jennifer and Gregory have built a sweet getaway kingdom here, and all of their love and respect for their surroundings shows in each detail on the property. Every single element of this cozy, retro space was well thought out and perfectly maintained - from the interior decor and amenities to the proximity of the woodpile and the reliable lighting of twinkling deck lights. The outdoor shower was amazing, with instant hot water (thankfully, in February!), and even this space was completely clean and well-constructed. Surrounding the Dixie, there are beautiful trails and secluded spots for hammock naps or afternoon treehouse retreats. I never once felt "isolated," but very much left in peace. This was a writing vacation, the first I'd taken in 5 yrs, and I didn't want it to end. Absolutely perfect.

    Trish2013-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Totally adored my stay at this very clean and cozy airstream. The trailer is so cute, comfy and everything was just as described. I definitely want to come back here and spend more time relaxing and exploring the area.

    Holly2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • We just returned from a weekend at the Dixie Daisy and could not have had a better stay!! We arrived after dark on a Friday night and found the deck lights on, the door unlocked, a pile of firewood near the chiminea, and the hot tub clean and heated. The kitchen was stocked with a French press, coffee, corkscrew, and filtered water in the fridge... plus all the other essentials. Hiking around the creek was a fun adventure and we had a great time visiting downtown Wimberley only a few minutes away. The Dixie Daisy has all the perks of camping (fires, hiking, fresh air) and all the perks of staying home (a roof, a real bed, shower and kitchen). It was a perfect blend of "escaping it all" and still being close to shops and restaurants. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. P.S. Use the outdoor shower! You'll be glad you did!

The treehouse is tucked away in the rainforest, less than five minutes from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It has two levels, two lanais, even a hot tub up in the trees. The bed has just undergone a rejuvenation and is back to being super comfortable. You can spend hours in the upper canopy, amidst the honeycreepers flitting through lehua flowers, and soak under the stars winking through the leaves or in the volcano mist. #weaccept
This is a custom designed treehouse, built by the same crew you see in Treehouse Masters on TV. The Jurassic attitude of the rainforest is preserved on the grounds. We also have a wedding venue nearby you may view in the photos. Our volcanoes are in a spectacular phase just now. Views of the summit eruption are a five minute drive away. To see the rivers of lava, you drive into the park and down the mountain. Mahinui Na Lani hangs in ohia trees growing over a lava tube in the rainforest that extends into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was conceived as a companion to our rainforest pavilion, a Bali style structure a couple of blocks away, intended as an intimate wedding venue. Both may be reserved, and there are a couple of photos of the pavilion included in this series. The treehouse is accessed via a path that is about 100 meandering feet in the forest, lava boulders set into the side of the lava tube, and ladders. The ascent is somewhat steep once you reach the lava rocks. For your safety and comfort, we provide day packs to transfer whatever clothing is needed for your stay from your luggage into the abode. There is a special recessed corner dedicated to your stuff, with hooks for clothes, and a couple of night stands with drawers that can hold less bulky items. It's Hawaii, and the climate is mild, the atmosphere everywhere very casual. We also provide bathrobes. The treehouse itself is built on two levels, connected via a ship's ladder. The main level includes the living room, with two chairs and an ottoman, flat screen for viewing films & playing CDs, built in indoor window table & stools, small kitchen, outdoor shower, and composting toilet & vanity. The indoor fireplace is a Jotul propane stove vented to the outside. Outdoors on the lanai there is a cedar hot tub, and a teak table and chairs for al fresco dining in the trees. The upper level is also upper canopy, with birds actually flying around beneath you sometimes. There is a queen sized bed with a memory foam mattress, the tiny "closet corner" and another lanai. The windows other than the french doors onto the lanai are stained glass, made by a local artist. The house was built primarily of recycled materials. The fir floors and redwood and cedar siding were once a church. This particular area is adjacent to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Kilauea has been active for decades. There are hiking trails in and around the park through rainforest, desert, volcanic devastation, even a path with footprints preserved from an eruption over a hundred years ago. There are petroglyphs. Less than a mile from the treehouse there is Volcano Village, with restaurants and art galleries, a couple of places to buy gas. The entrance park itself is about two miles away. The neighborhood is rainforest, with many unbuilt upon lots. The reason there is no view of the treehouse through the forest is because the rainforest is very dense. There is the floor, very jungly with ginger, native ferns, and trees. Mid canopy are the tree ferns, some twenty feet tall, and over a hundred years old. The upper canopy is a mixture of ohia trees with red lehua flowers, Hawaiian holly, and others. We are asked from time to time if more than two people can stay in the treehouse. We can especially understand that families would like to bring their children to share this experience. The treehouse is a two person space. Everything is designed to be a honeymoon experience. While it is possible for more than two people to sit together and chat, only two can sleep over. There is no rollaway bed, nor is there room for one or for any other furniture beyond what is there already. Hall of Fame: The treehouse has been featured in Extreme Cribs, on episode 13. The Ellen Show: Kim Douglas's Tropical Vacation Ke Ola Magazine Volcano Tree House story in July - August 2011 edition Trip Advisor: One of the Ten Most Romantic Places to Stay (global selections) PureWow feature Treehouses of the World, Travel Channel European segment, by Treehouse Masters series Buzzfeed blogs and news articles published globally You will have access to the entire property, including the small structure below the treehouse near where you park your car. You may safely lock your luggage inside that room and use the day packs inside during your stay. If you use a CPAP machine, please contact us prior to making a reservation. There is only one treehouse on the property. We live nearby and come by regularly to maintain the treehouse. It is likely we will meet you on arrival. Otherwise, we are available by cell phone, text, email. When we are away, someone else who lives locally will be available to greet you and take care of your needs. The treehouse requires daily attention because it is off grid. This is generally done between 11 am and 4 pm, and most guests are away for that portion of the day. We do ask that if you are staying all day at the treehouse, that you communicate with us to let us know when one of us can come up and take care of the place. The neighborhood is mostly old growth rainforest with a few houses here and there. When you drive up, you will notice there are neighbors across the street and next door. You will forget about them once you walk through the moongate and enter the world of the treehouse. Sometimes of a late afternoon and evening you may hear a local hula halau practicing. We hope you find the sounds of laughter and Hawaiian language and music adds to the ambience. A rental car is a necessity. While there is public transportation, it is long slow trip up the mountain. The park is a couple of miles down the road, and so large you will want to drive and not attempt to walk. Volcano Village is about a mile up the road. You might like to stroll up and back. If walking into the village for dinner, a flashlight for your return is an absolute must. We provide - please take it with you! If you are planning a first trip to our island, we suggest that you stay 2 or 3 nights at the treehouse. Please contact us for for discussion before you reserve if you wish. The island is truly big, and most people would rather spend the night on the west side of the island rather than return to Volcano after a day of play over there. Although we show rates for long term stays, we would like to discuss plans with you before completion of a stay of 5 days or longer. When you decide you want to stay at the treehouse, you are coming to a place unlike any other. There are other treehouses, but each is unique. This treehouse is off grid. This means it requires hands on service, every day. For most people, this is a seamless thing that happens while they are off adventuring. Every once in awhile, people come and do not want to leave, at all. We understand, but we do want to let you know that we must enter the treehouse on a daily basis to service the composting toilet. The hot tub also requires attention. The treehouse is in the forest. It is inside the trees, and this means easy critter access. To keep them outside, we carry your rubbish away and make sure your food is stored adequately. It is not a good idea to leave unwashed dishes, pots and pans, for these same reasons. Spiders are residents of the forest. They are food for the birds. If you love the birds, please tolerate their food supply. We empty the house of spiders daily but we do not poison. The spiders come back at will. They are small, and stay in the corners. They leave evidence of their visit in the form of webs. We do our best to be inhospitable to them, but they persist. When there is weather, like hard rains and winds, from your perch in the trees you will experience the sound and feel in ways you may have not before. The house is tight - the weather does not enter if the doors and windows are closed. But the sounds can be formidable. You will feel close to nature. Because of the size of the treehouse and the fact that it is off grid, it is not possible to offer a regular kitchen. There is no oven, but there is a microwave. There is a hotplate. There is no dishwasher. To create full on gourmet meals in the little kitchen is a challenge that no amount of special cookware can address. The storage space is inadequate for more than a couple of days worth of food supplies. We are in the process of revamping this cooking experience to something a little more treehouse-like, a better fit with the off grid experience. So by the time you arrive, it will be different than it is today. And finally, regarding the hot tub. The price point for the treehouse rental is as it is in part because of the hot tub requirements.
The neighborhood is part undeveloped rainforest and part lots with houses. There are no tract homes - every house is individually designed and built. There are no street lights so at night it is very dark. The forest tends to obscure moonlight. There is a hula halau that practices nearby some afternoons, and you can hear their Hawaiian music and chants late in the day.
  • We absolutely fell in love with this place from the moment we saw it in pictures. When we got to the tree house in real life it was even more breathtaking! My wife and I didn't want to go anywhere, all we wanted to do was stay there the whole time! Gail was very nice and welcoming. She gives you a tour of the place the day you get there and there was even fresh local fruit waiting for us! We're already planning on coming back to the big island just so we can stay here again!

  • We stayed four nights at the treehouse, sandwiched between stays at two different resorts. It was a wonderful break from more "touristy" areas of Hawaii. We loved the feeling of living among the trees, listening to the birds in the early morning, and enjoying the hot tub in the afternoons. We used the treehouse as a base to explore Volcanoes National Park, and took several wonderful hikes in the park. The house had pretty much everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy our stay there. I would recommend a stay of 2-3 nights for most travelers, particularly those that enjoy a more active, adventurous vacation. Gail is quick and professional, and Rose & Noe who helped care for the treehouse during our stay were also very friendly and attentive.

  • We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon. The tree house was our favorite accommodation from the trip (which included other airbnb's and two resort hotels.) The description is completely accurate and you'd be hard pressed to find a cooler or more unique place to stay.

  • Great location, helpful and lovely host, just perfect. Had a wonderful honeymoon there!!!

    Sven2014-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome. Our hosts met us promptly (we might have even been a little late), and showed us around. The treehouse is exceptional, the hot tub is excellent, and they gave us a few good dinner recommendations nearby.

    Ruth2015-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hard to find words to describe our experience at the tree house. Gail made us feel incredibly welcomed from the moment we arrived - providing us with fresh banana bread and everything we needed for breakfast the next morning. The proximity to the green/black sand beaches is hard to beat and that's not to mention the less than 5 minute drive to the volcano national park. If you are staying in the area this airbnb is a must! Thanks Gail for allowing us to enjoy your slice of paradise!

    Patrick2015-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at the treehouse! It was very quiet and secluded, and a great place to relax. We loved the hot tub and the delicious treats left for us the first day. The service was wonderful, and we had a great time. Do consider that the sound of rain falling on a metal roof can be VERY loud, so bringing earplugs to sleep in might be prudent if you are a light sleeper (because it rains a LOT!)! Otherwise, our stay was perfect!

    David2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The treehouse was absolutely wonderful; the pictures do not give it justice. It was very clean and provided everything we needed! There was a good amount of cookware and pots/pans, so you could definitely cook up some tasty dishes! The ornate details of the treehouse were beautiful - we had a ton of fun sitting out on the lanais and admiring the scenery.

It has been tastefully remodeled to make a very comfortable living space. It consists of one very large room with a sleeping area sectioned off by curtains. It also has an attractive bathroom and a closet. There are areas for sleeping, dining, cooking, working and relaxing. The kitchenette has a fridge, two burners, a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker and filtered water on tap, as well as all the kitchenware and tableware you may need. The bed has a very comfortable queen size mattress. It's all quite romantic, but you can also sleep an additional two people on the comfortable fold down sofa. You'll have the use of wireless high speed cable internet and widescreen dish TV and dvd player. The apartment is completely separate from our living space so you'll have it all to yourself. It has a grand and gracious yet completely cozy feel. We like to host visitors and we'll be happy to give you information and tips on request. You'll love our neighborhood where you'll find some of the city's sunniest weather, best affordable restaurants, great views and easy parking. Street parking is safe and generally available either right outside or within a block. The house is on a quiet residential street two blocks from Bernal Hill Park, which has spectacular views of the city and The Bay. Our electricity comes from solar panels on the roof! Everything you need is a short walk away on Cortland Street including quality, interesting and affordable restaurants, cafes, bars, groceries, shops, services, a bakery, a bookstore, a library, even an art gallery! There's also a farmer's market nearby on Saturdays, and two lovely parks. We love our neighborhood which is so friendly and livable! Transportation to Downtown (about 3.5 miles to Civic Center) or any of the San Francisco attractions is easy with frequent buses. Two minutes from the front door you can catch a MUNI bus to the nearby BART (underground) station. Or take a walk over Bernal Hill to BART and the Mission District and see some amazing views of the city and the Bay. Freeway access is nearby and easy.
Bernal Heights is a very popular neighborhood. It's interesting, safe, convenient, beautiful, quiet. The best place to live in SF!
  • This apartment was located in a neighborhood with a very safe feeling and absolutely lovely old houses packed side by side up and down the hills. The neighborhood is very charming. The apartment looked just like the pictures and was comfortable for 3 persons; though the studio couch was certainly not a standard bed, it allowed for a restful sleep. The bed was great. The host met us soon after arrived and again when we checked out and phoned between once checking to make sure everything was OK, and it was. We rented a vehicle the last 2 days and easily found a parking spot just over a block away.

    Emilie2014-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was a nice, spacious and clean apartment. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and easy to find a parking spot. Buses are nearby to different area. We enjoyed our stay.

  • Mike and Nic's studio was the perfect place to stay during mine and my husband's trip to San Francisco! The location is great, as it is close to downtown and many other popular places to visit, in addition to being a short walk from many good restaurants. Being in a residential neighborhood, it really gives you the feel of what it's like to actually live in San Francisco. We also liked that the street parking around the place was free and there was plenty of it. The studio is very spacious and has all of the amenities you could need. We had a terrific stay and are looking forward to hopefully staying at Mike and Nic's place again in the future!

    Kara2012-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Nic's studio is just as it appears, a lovely space to spend time while taking in the sights of San Francisco. It's very cosy and clean and close to shops and cafes. It's easy to get the bus into town from the end of the street and there's everything you need just down the road. We were very comfortable and I loved the space!

    Paula2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a treasure this place and neighborhood is! The studio is very eclectic with beautiful artwork, plants, and books and very comfortable conditions. We enjoyed Mike and Nic's hospitality even though we were not able to meet them in person. It is evident that they give it a lot of TLC and it was immaculate. We enjoyed walks on Bernal Hills with panoramic views of the city and a quaint Courtland main street with eateries and shops. We will definitely come back.

    John2015-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures of the studio are accurate, and the description is dead on. The immediate neighborhood is nice and there is good food nearby - within a 10 minute walk. The bed was very comfy, and there was peace and quiet every night.

    Michael2015-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was the PERFECT apartment for our San Francisco travels. It was located within minutes of all the action and short drive to any destination. It was secluded enough to give you plenty of space and the apartment was huge. Mike and Nic were excellent hosts and provided everything we needed up front. I would stay here again!

    Ashley2014-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Place was amazing, very cute little apartment - easy to find parking around the place, 10min walk from mcdonalds! Internet was a bit slow but apart from that it was lovely :)

One bedroom sanctuary with a beautiful garden view and cozy fireplace. Comes with it's own entrance just steps from bus lines, train and all that Haight Street has to offer. Complete privacy with a separate bedroom, bathroom, and breakfast bar.
If you want to be within walking distance to Golden Gate Park, Haight St, Buena Vista Park, and Cole Valley, this is the spot. Full size bed in the bedroom with 400 thread count sheets and a pull-out twin in the living room. Just installed fireplace and large screen tv makes hanging out fun in the comfortable living room. Bathroom has a shower within the tub and white fluffy towels.
You will hear from many that this is the best neighborhood in SF. I chose this area for the many Victorian homes, the ease of mass transit, the walkability, and the abundance of parks, restaurants, and nightlife nearby. As a recent transplant to this area I can tell you that the stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs are great here. I forget I have a car most of the time! Street parking is easy except for Wednesday 8-10 due to street cleaning.
  • The apartment was awesome and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Sara was wonderful and extremely accommodating.

    Russell2014-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Hello! I stayed here for 6 days and really enjoyed it. The apartment was clean, cosy and beautifully furnished. Comfy bedroom and the lounge was a perfect place to have a cosy evening in, with a large TV to watch and beautiful fire to keep you warm on a cold night. The location of the apartment was in an excellent location in Haight, which as loads if fine restaurants and shops nearby. I can recommend to Cha Cha Cha for a fabulous meal. Sara is a lovely hostess, who is friendly and helpful in every way. Felt so welcome to her Apartment when we got there and she let us use the washing machine and tumble dryer when we needed too. Her hospitality was outstanding and would deffo diffidently recommend this place to stay when visiting San Francisco.

    Vanessa2014-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is really nice. We feel truely welcomed when we checked in. Her house is fantastic and sweet. Sara prepared juice and milk for us. the yard in front the house is amazing. The only thing bot so perfect here is parking space is not easy to find and the spaces are crowded and tiny.

    zhuo2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed Sara's garden retreat! It was charming, comfortable and clean. It was lovely to have access to the beautiful garden as well. I look forward to staying here again!

  • It was my first time in SFO and the 2nd time of my husband and his brother after 15 years, and Sara's place gave us the best experience of SFO! We loved her place the moment we saw it from outside and walked in our cozy apartment at the back. We felt right at home. Her place is very pretty, cozy and clean. I love the style of her place and we like the neighborhood. It's conveniently located right in the center of where we wanna go and I'm in love with the houses on the street. There are lots of places to eat that are just walking distance. The bus stop is right there as well. Sara was such a gracious host that she even allowed us to leave our bags in her own home since our flight was still at night and we checked out during lunch. Her dog Boo was so lovable too! We definitely enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again each time we visit SFO. Thanks again Sara!

    Ellen2014-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was waiting for us when we arrived from the airport and everything went really smoothly. Sara's apartment is very well located in the colorful neighbourhood of Haight-Ashbury. There are many nice restaurants and small cafés to have different bites every single day of the week. The apartment itself is quiet and tastefully decorated. All the amenities correspond to what was described in the announcement. Some chocolate and local wine were waiting for us upon arrival. Thank you Sara for those treats :).

    Paula2014-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent place and wonderful host. I will want to stay here again.

  • We can't say enough good things about our stay at David and Ling's beautiful home. So relaxing and a nice escape out of the normal day to day. House was well stocked with all the essentials, and hosts were lovely.

    Kylie2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, great location! Everything was perfect. Nice host! Thanks Ling and David for open their house!

    2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible view day and night! If you've ever wanted a rustic cabin on top of a canyon to gaze at the pacific... this is the place to go!!

    ELYSE2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible week at Ling and David's spot. The pictures are gorgeous, but in person it's that much more beautiful! House was exactly as described and served as a great landing place for our week long family vacation. Thanks Ling and David!

    Zawadi2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views from everywhere in the house. I loved picking fresh tangerines from the beautifully landscaped garden and enjoying them with a cup of tea as I looked out over the ocean. Definitely a peaceful retreat for those who need to unwind! Thank you!

    Alexander2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • David was very communicative and welcoming, both on email and in person, and very accommodating of our wishes. The setting of their home is just as dramatic and unique as it looks in the photos, unlike any hotel experience you could have. We literally said "wow" as we drove in. We stayed in both units over the course of our stay, so we got to know the building well. I believe they just purchased it in the last six months, and have renovations planned. It's been pretty untouched since when it was built in the 70s, I think, so it has a bit of a funky beat-up vibe in places. (I wasn't totally expecting that given the scenery and the modern furniture in the photos. Gardens are overgrown, in an elegant way, certain features of the space are inconvenient in an almost self-designed manner, etc. The bathrooms felt modernized, though.) All this to say that the place feels like it hasn't been invested in or updated in a while but David and Ling strike me as fastidious new owners who will only make it better. We had never stayed in Malibu before and didn't realize quite how remote this would feel -- something for first time visitors to LA to consider. The roads are quite narrow and windy so we didn't feel super comfortable strolling our infant around and it would have been hard to make it work without a rental car though previous renters seem to have used Uber. Bear in mind that your cell service may be spotty; in the downstairs unit there was no landline, but there is wifi in both units that works pretty well.

    Juliet2015-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay... Elegant property with an amazing view. The house is kept very clean. Ling and David are amazing hosts as well, always here to help if you got any questions. This place is really recommended and don't hesitate the house look even better in real than in the pictures

    Julien2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic charm, a priceless view, at a reasonable rate. Owners are delightful and accommodating. They recently purchased this property that had been neglected. They are bringing it back to its original glory. They canyon drive can be a bit challenging, but the pleasant solitude is worth the effort. They have a path that wanders up and down rough steps. KEEP A FLASHLIGHT WITH YOU TO HELP NAVIGATE THE PATHWAY WHEN IT GETS DARK. Would - and will - go back again.

The space is littered with family heirlooms and pieces of antique art that tell the story of our fair city. In the morning, the sun spills through the east facing wall, lighting up the cathedral ceilings and garland cladded chandelier. In the corner of the cottage is a reading nook where you can forget about your worries and dive into any of the novels housed in the library shelves. Wave your hand in front of the electric fireplace to ignite flames that create an authentic ambience or build a real fire in the fire pit outside. Take a long bath in the stock-tank-converted tub or grab the remote for the smart TV and sign into your Netflix/Hulu/HBO Go accounts. You can also cast something from your own computer with our Chromecast. If your adventurous spirit leads you beyond the walls of the The Cleveland Cottage, hop in a Lyft/Uber and take the 5 minute ride to the famous 5 points in East Nashville or downtown to the Honky Tonks. If you get tired, no worries, we've got a personal Keurig, in our full/fully stocked kitchen, to keep you going for days.
We live in the Historic Cleveland Park neighborhood of East Nashville adjacent to the original thoroughfare, Dickerson Rd. It is a transitional neighborhood and part of the gentrification process undergoing most surrounding, downtown neighborhoods here in Nashville. From big ol' craftsman houses to tiny, baby, paint-peeling bungalows- we have never found a more ethnically-diverse, artistic, tight-knit group of neighbors and are positive you will not only fall in love with Nashville, but also with our world-within-a-world... Cleveland friggin' Park.
  • Beta & Emily’s place was a perfect home in Nashville!

    Mike2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place! Comfortably fit me and two of my colleagues. Is in a good location. Beta & Emily are extremely responsive, and hospitable. Be sure to read the note about taxes in the house rules section. Highly recommended.

    Charlie2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • This adorable house was exactly what an airbnb should be: comfortable, welcoming, convenient, and stylish. Beta & Emily were great hosts and communication was quick and helpful. The instructions were detailed (and witty!) and I personally really appreciated that so many things were labeled in the home for ease and zero frustration. My friend and I did not bother with renting a car and found this location to be very convenient for uber services to East Nashville, downtown, Germantown, Nissan Stadium, and even the 12 South area (although we went on a Sunday evening, so no traffic). I would highly recommend this cottage with lots of personality, gracious hosts, and a very convenient area!

    Ronett2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the coziness and comfort of the cottage! It was a great retreat and home base for our Nashville adventures. We would definitely consider a return visit in the future.

    Lindsay2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • There's not one bad thing to say about this experience. Beta & Emily have perfected what every AirBnB should be like. The design of the cottage was exquisite and we got a lot of good recommendations on places to see and things to do! Thank you so much to Beta and Emily who made our short stay in Nashville memorable enough to do it all over again... But stay longer!

A cozy & clean renovated cottage in South Inglewood with private entrance. One bedroom, one bathroom cottage w/ a nice patio and backyard. Plenty of street parking. We'd love to help make your Nashville trip perfect!
Our cottage, which was renovated last year, is spacious with plenty of privacy. Included is a big patio and large backyard where you'll find our 4 chickens free ranging. Inside the cottage you'll find a full size bed, couch, dining table with chairs, shower/bathtub, and washer & dryer. Soap, shampoo, detergent, hair dryer, and bottled water are all provided.
Located in South Inglewood, we are very close to all the great East Nashville spots and only 4 miles to downtown. Our street is an upcoming residential area that is improving everyday. We are walking distance from a great YMCA and our neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Las Maracas. There's no shortage of good food, bars, shops and nightlife just minutes away. Most importantly, in the four years we've lived here, we've always felt safe.
  • Staying at Julian's cottage was perfect for my boyfriend and I! Not only do I want to borrow his decorating ideas, but everything was clean, comfortable and close to every location we wanted to go. On Friday night we took an uber (only about $8 each way) downtown to do some drinking and honky tonk dancing. The rest of our time there we used our rental car to explore the many incredible restaurants, bars, shops, and hikes (one was at Cummins Falls State Park- definitely worth the drive!). Everything (besides the hike) was about 15 minutes away or less by car. We didn't meet Julian until our last day, but we always felt he was there if we needed him. With the complimentary coffee, record player, air conditioner and chickens roaming around the backyard, it really felt like we could call this place home. So much better than wasting our money in a downtown hotel. You should definitely stay here (unless we're in town too). One thing to note: There wasn't a hair-dryer or iron in the room. I also didn't look very well, nor did I ask him for one since I was lazy and decided to go with an overall-wrinkled look. If you need either of these things, I'd recommend asking him or bringing them yourself!

    Danielle2015-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great recommendations! We had a nice experience. Would definitely visit again.

    Ashley2016-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cute place, very easy check in/out, very helpful hosts, had a great stay.

    Krista2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Julian's cottage while visiting Nashville and he was a wonderful and helpful host! This was our first time visiting Nashville, and he provided us with great restaurant, bar, coffee shop, and record store recommendations that we thoroughly enjoyed checking out. Having the separate cottage and private entrance made it easy to come and go as we pleased; an added bonus was that we were able to take newly purchased vinyl for a spin on the record player in the cottage. We really loved Nashville and staying with Julian and would hope to do so again when we come back in the future.

    Cherie2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Julian's place is great! It's adorable, well decorated and with all of the amenities you need while staying in Nashville. I appreciated the coffee and snacks and would have used the refrigerator, washer and dryer if staying longer. I wish I would have had time to explore more of East Nashville because I saw some cool places on my Uber rides, but ended up enjoying lounging in bed, reading and listening to records so much I didn't have the time. Uber rides to downtown were about $6-12. Julian was very helpful and easy to communicate with.

    Heather2015-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Julian's cottage in east nashville! It was cozy and relaxing, and in a great location. We were able to walk to some east nashville spots, and take a short cab to downtown and other spots. Julian made us comfortable and provided great recommendations for places to eat and drink. We would definitely stay here again!

    Sally2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the guest cottage and Julian was an excellent host. We actually never met him in person, but he checked on us every morning. We had privacy which was great, but he was attentive and quick to respond if we had any questions. Overall, Julian was super helpful and made us feel very welcome. The cottage was super clean and as pictured, with great decor and attention to detail. Everything felt very new and I loved the bathroom/shower. The bed was a bit squeaky and softer than what we were used to, but not the end of the world. To be completely honest, the train woke us up every night, sometimes several times so we didn't sleep well at all. Neither of us are particularly light sleepers either. One other small suggestion - it would be nice to have somewhere to hang a couple of things. Maybe a garment rack in the room or even just a couple of hooks on the wall so guests could hang clothes would be nice.

    Laura2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Super hip and comfy cottage in a desirable location. What more could you ask for? Loved the bathroom so much, I took notes for my own remodel. Hope to stay here again. P.S. The train didn't bother us a bit. The cottage is actually one of the quietist places I have stayed in Nashville.

5 Points is Denver's historic African American downtown. Once upon a time, Welton Street was home to some of the greatest jazz clubs in the country. The famous Rossonian is in the process of being restored to it's former glory and many music venues have sprung up around the neighborhood. Though the gentrification of 5 Points is well underway, it's residents are hoping to preserve it's diversity and sense of community. This part of Denver is growing and changing rapidly! There are tons of galleries, street art, breweries, restaurants and bars nearby. We are close to Downtown but still quiet and neighborhood-y. please checkout our guide book to see our recommendations. *This is an Urban environment. If you are uncomfortable being around folks of different cultures, classes or colors, please find a different neighborhood to stay in.
  • This house is just as cute as the pictures, fresh flowers and all! There were 4 of us who stayed comfortably in this adorable home, used the kitchen to cook breakfast each morning (grocery stores nearby), and came back to hang out listening to the amazing vinyl collection each night. The bathroom is small, but still functional and serves its job. Would recommend this place to anyone with 2-4 people looking for a cozy place!

  • Our stay was great! The place was charming and even better than what we expected. Very artsy and comfortable. Felt like home! Eliza was very helpful and quick at responding when we had questions. The neighbourhood was also very nice and quiet. Close to a lot of great restaurants and shops. No complaints here! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Eliza!

This is a safe space. I've created a wonderful space that I love to call home. It's full of good energy, happiness & musical instruments! All is Love. It's in Southeast Denver near I-25 and Evans. It's 15 mins from downtown & 20 mins from the airport. Come play with me!
*** PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE INQUIRING. ** *** THIS IS A SAFE SPACE *** *** Must be LGBTQ friendly because I am, too! *** *** I have an adorable cat named Butternut Squashington. If you're allergic, steer clear. I'm sorry you won't be able to meet him. :) *** *** 420 Friendly *** I will be out of town from Nov 14th - Dec 14th. You'll see a slight price adjustment because you'll have the space completely to yourself! If you want to have the entire space to yourself you can check this link to see if the space is available: http://abnb.me/EVmg/Y09W6mNaHF. This listing usually books out more than a month in advance. Check in is at one, but is definitely flexible depending on your needs and the guests prior to you. You can at least drop your bags off if your travel plans have you arriving early in the day. I'm a very open-minded queer woman that wants you to have a great time in Denver. I can help you find what you want to do and where you should go to do it. Maybe we can even go together! My condo is easy to find with lots of parking. Please park on the street. You can use my garage if you'd like although my neighborhood is very safe. I'm close to the airport and if you need a ride and I'm available, we can do that for a small fee to cover gas. The bus system is relatively easy to use from my place but gets very limited late at night. If you come when I'm not home I'll guide you to the hideaway key. You have to climb one flight of stairs to get to my condo. Make yourself at home! Eat food, drink drinks, play instruments or take a nap with the kitty. You and a second guest will sleep on a comfy foam mattress in the guest room (it's private). If there are three or four guests, we can blow up the double tall queen mattress. I travel a lot for work, so you may need to change your own sheets. I am a sound healer and offer discounted treatments if you stay with me. My work is to bring the body from a place of imbalance to a place of balance using the vibrations of ancient instruments. It's like a full cellular body massage! I don't have cable - I have internet, plenty of DVDs and a little projector for a fun entertainment center extraordinaire. If you bring a laptop you can connect it via HDMI to the projector, and I have the adaptor for Mac. There's a grocery and liquor store within walking distance if you have any needs that I don't have stocked. Feel free to do laundry with my personal machines and supplies. You need to turn on the light inside the closet where the laundry is to turn the washer on. When leaving please be careful because my cat is quite the escape artist.
Very close to I-25, yet quiet and clean. I have very nice neighbors.
  • Lauren's place is very chill. She is a great host and gave us some good suggestions. Her cat is adorable!

  • It was great staying at Lauren's place. We got a great referral discount for nearby dispensaries through her and Butternut Squashington is the best. It is also in a convenient location with many walkable food spots and shops. I wish we had the chance to meet her!

  • Lauren was very helpful and easily contacted! Got to and in the house with no problem, wish we could've chatted more but overall made my Denver trip a 10 out of 10!

  • Lauren was an absolutely fantastic host! Even though she was feeling under the weather when we arrived, she had everything ready for us the moment we got there. The apartment is absolutely gorgeous and Butternut Squashington is such a sweetheart!
