Ferngrove Cottage - Idyllic mountain retreat

AlexandraRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay at Alex and David’s cottage. The view from the garden was just beautiful and there were so many thoughtfully considered details to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast on the verandah, bird watching in the garden and sitting around the cosy fireplace in the evening. Kitchen was very well stocked with all the essentials plus some. A home away from home. Really lovely welcoming hosts who were on hand if needed and had great tips for the area.

coastal retreat

TrishRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Chris's place was roomy, comfortable and very well equipped, especially things for kids! We liked not having to bring anything but our clothes and food. There were even coffee beans in the coffee maker!!. Short walk to the nearest beach, and slightly longer one to cafes, shops and another beach made the location ideal. Chris made us feel welcome and was generous with extended check in and check out times. We can thoroughly recommend Jibbon Beach House.

Newly Renovated Studio

NinaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
A nice quiet room in an ideal Surry Hills location, great value. There was an option to drop our bags early before official check-in at 4pm/while the rooms were still being prepared, which was well appreciated. It's only a 5 minute walk up the road to the Main Street in Surry Hills, with lots of eateries, and a 15 minute walk downhill to Haymarket and Chinatown in downtown Sydney. Was also close to the train station so we could get to suburbs like Newtown very easily. I enjoyed walking to Redfern to see another suburb, as well as down the road to the Golden Age Cinema & Bar. There were also thoughtful amenities like coffee pods and hair conditioner, which really added to the value of the stay.

Quiet and pleasant accommodation about 1 hour by bus and train from downtown Sydney. The bus stop and a supermarket are in 3 minutes walking. Great kitchen equipment and a great coffee every morning. Super friendly and likeable host. Check in was excellent. The two small dogs are very sweet.

Located in the historic (and possibly most beautiful) part of Sydney’s CBD, Suzanna’s home is simply, Wonderful. Light, airy, spotless and perfectly appointed. Within an easy walk to fantastic restaurants and pubs in Millers Point and The Rocks. … and Incredible Views over Barangaroo, Nawi Cove to White Bay (sunset was spectacular). Topping it off is Suzanna is an Incredible Host - so responsive and welcoming. Suzanna’s home is my new ‘go-to’ for trips to Sydney. Thank you, Suzanna!

Beach View Curl Curl - House with Pool & Views

LisaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a wonderful stay! 10 days at this beautiful beachside home was so memorable and exactly what we needed to feel like we were away from it all. We are very familiar to the area, so staying somewhere in Curl Curl at a property that was tucked away as to be quiet but close enough to walk everywhere, with beautiful views and the sound of the ocean was more than we could have asked for! Emily is a great host, responsive, helpful and her home is exactly as described. We loved our stay and will be back! Highly recommend this property!

Your guide to Sydney

Welcome to Sydney

Australia’s oldest and biggest city, Sydney spreads out from the shores of a beautiful deep-water harbour. The city center is dominated by the world-famous Sydney Opera House, which sits across from the striking Sydney Harbour Bridge at the edge of the financial district. To the east, affluent neighborhoods stretch along the inner harbor to a coastline studded with pretty beaches, including iconic Bondi Beach. There’s plenty to discover wherever you go in the city, from the hip neighborhoods of Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, on the fringe of the city center, to the fashionable enclaves of Paddington and Woollahra further east and the lively Inner West. Venture out of the inner city to explore diverse neighborhoods across the Greater Sydney area, which stretches to the foothills of the Blue Mountains to the west, north to the Hawkesbury River, and south to the Royal National Park.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Sydney

In the summer months, locals and visitors on holiday alike flock to cafe courtyards, rooftop restaurants, and beer gardens. And of course they head to the beach in droves. The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade on the first Saturday in March marks the end of summer and a drop in humidity. Cooler temperatures make autumn ideal for booking one of the city’s apartments and exploring the stunning coastline, with humpback whales migrating north from May to August. Sydney is bathed in sunlight almost all year round, so winters are relatively mild, but it can be rainy, especially in June and July. Spring is a great time to visit, with warm days and crisp nights from September.

Top things to do in Sydney

Sydney Harbour cruise

Sydney’s blue-water harbour dominates the city, with lively neighborhoods, leafy parks, and marinas lining the waterfront. Take the 30-minute public ferry ride from Circular Quay, next to Sydney Opera House in the city center, to Manly for a great introduction to the harbour. Join a cruise, charter a skippered motor boat to explore hidden beaches, or flit in a water taxi between waterside restaurants and attractions.

Find a perfect beach

Just as spectacular as the harbour, Sydney’s northern and eastern coastlines are lined with sandy beaches and charming neighborhoods. In the east, Bondi is the most famous of Sydney’s city beaches, with a thriving wellness scene, while neighboring Bronte and Coogee have smaller stretches of sand and a more laid-back vibe. From the harbor’s North Head, a string of surf beaches and coastal hiking trails run north from Manly to Palm Beach.

Visit the Inner West neighborhoods

Discover Sydney’s eclectic side in the Inner West, a series of neighborhoods within a 20-minute drive of the city center that are popular with students, hipsters, and the LGBTQ+ community. Browse vintage and upcycled fashion before choosing from global cuisines in Newtown and neighboring Enmore; check out the craft breweries and Vietnamese and Greek restaurants of Marrickville; or browse the Saturday flea market in Glebe.
