  • If you want to be immersed in rural Vermont and get the detachment from your hectic life then Colleen and Jon's spot is the place for you. With very personal touches and quick responses to any inquiry you have expect to feel spoiled Sutton. We were hoping to rent some snowshoes to trek around the property, and our hosts provided their own - you're dealing with some genuine people to say the least. Can't give this listing a better rating, and we certainly hope to return in the future!

  • Kelsey's yurt was the perfect spot for my brother and I to meet up for some quality time off the grid together with my pup. The location is perfect if you're planning to ride Kingdom Trails—a stone's throw away, yet tucked quietly in the woods. Close to so many other offerings in the NEK too. We picked up some charcoal to cook over the grill, and cozied up by a fire... ate blackberries on the walk up the hill for a view of the fall colors in the mountains... wish we didn't have to leave, and psyched to return!

    Maggie2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Kelsey’s yurt! The location is fantastic and it had everything we needed for glamping. Kelsey’s communication was timely and overall everything was fantastic start to finish! I would definitely stay here again!

    Jenai2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Very cozy and secluded, had an amazing time by fire before the storm hit!

    Shirley2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was great! Simple and private with good amenities for camping. Stars were amazing!

    Matt2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kelsey's little slice of heaven is the perfect glamping spot in the NEK. Secluded, peaceful, and just minutes away from Burke. We will definitely be staying here again for our next Kingdom trip!

    Ian2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect situation for those who like to camp and bike. All the best parts of camping - a fire, beautiful star-lit sky, fresh air and freedom - with added benefits of a bed, shower, and running water! We loved the yurt and location so much we wished we hadn’t booked a hotel for the following night, we would have MUCH rather stayed another night at the yurt! We were pleasantly surprised that the outdoor shower had HOT water and the location was super private. The yurt is ideally located if you have plans to bike at Kingdom Trails (which you should). We are already planning our trip back next year! Loved it.

    Miranda2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We didn’t end up staying but her communication was quick and detailed.

    Casey2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful spot! The yurt is super cute and the outdoor shower is heaven after a day biking. Very close to Kingdom Trails.

A private in-law apartment in this lovely country farm-house sitting high above Sheffield, VT. At the center of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, you are conveniently located just a short drive from all of the Kingdom's attractions and amenities. Quiet and private, the site offers a peaceful retreat from a busy lifestyle, yet close access to all of Vermont's recreational activities be they athletic, artistic, or passive.
We are fifteen minutes from Burke Mountain and East Burke Village, the Kingdom Trails, St. Johnsbury and Lyndon. Looking for water? • Me and my two brothers stayed for a weekend snowmobile trip and had a great time. The house is exactly .5 miles from the trail, just a short skip up the side of the road. This place is spotless and in a beautiful location. We had a pleasant surprise of some homemade zucchini bread that went great with our morning coffee. Next time I travel to the northeast kingdom I will definitely be staying at Terry’s place.

    Dwane2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • It was really nice to visit Terry. The place was warm and welcoming. The beds are cozy. Terry were really kind with us and help us a lot with the surroundings. We also have a couple of pastry on the house !!!!

  • I highly recommend the Hilltop Guesthouse for anyone traveling through Vermont! It was such a fun place to spend the night. The guesthouse was very easy to find, with well-labeled signs close to a well-marked and paved road. The hosts really thought of everything: plenty of plates and pans to cook with in the kitchen, lots of channels on the TV, coffee to get you started in the morning, an ice scraper for the car—you name it, the Hilltop Guesthouse had it. The Wifi was fast and the guesthouse stayed warm all night, despite being a very generous size. The bed and couch were comfortable too! The space is super private and feels secluded, with plenty of trees, birds, and wildlife. A great value and a lovely experience, if you're looking for a Vermont Airbnb this is the one!

    John2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lila and Aaron were outstanding hosts! Super communicative and helpful. The guest house is really cute and the twinkle lights lining the path from the parking to the house were helpful and adorable. The path was well shoveled out and easy to walk down.

    Kristy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Overall we had such a great stay here and would definitely return in the future.

    Jackie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little cabin. It does get tight with two people and sports gear (ice climbing), but a nice kitchen space, which is useful since there’s not much dining in the area. A great place for enjoying Lake Willoughby.

    Kel2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy space for two. Affordable and within easy distance to the area's fun outdoor amenities. For those sensitive to sound, do note that the furnace hums around 35 dBA periodically.

  • Great place and great host! Highly recommend!

    Dominic2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Janelle and Kyle’s place was a great choice for us. The location is really nice, remote up in the mountains. Super quiet and relaxing for us coming from Boston. Janelle and Kyle were great hosts; they were extremely friendly and inviting and offered us great local tips as well. We even had a few off-chance connections we noticed through talking. The place itself was cleaned and convenient. The bed was also really comfortable which was appreciated after a lot of biking. Absolutely would stay here again. Highly recommend!

PLEASE NOTE: RESERVATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED FOR BOOKINGS BEFORE JUNE 15, PER THE GOVERNOR OF VERMONT. A true labor of love: 19th century remodeled farmhouse located halfway between the celebrated Kingdom Trails/ Burke Mountain and the unspoiled Willoughby Lake // Major renos 2016-2018 // Property borders a small river that provides a beautiful soundscape // large deck with views of grazing cows and Burke Mountain // Especially designed for family or friend group vacations.
We designed and built our place to combine the charming features of a 19th century historic Vermont farmhouse with a modern sensibility centered around a love of space, natural light and color! Skylights, the bright red bridge over the kitchen, and a shimmering gold tin ceiling in the parlor are some of the highlights. We designed the kitchen for people who love to cook together. All the modern appliances, a commercial quality range with hood, and a great stereo system will make this your favorite space in the house. A long wood farmhouse table seats up to 10, and a giant pair of sliding doors opens up to a huge deck with amazing views of the river, meadow, and Burke mountain.
Our farmhouse is located at the southern edge of the village of West Burke, an authentic and quiet Vermont small town. We love the fact that there are no resorts or condos in our town, nor precious urban imported baristas, only true locals. (don't worry, we are equipped with great coffee making devices). Our neighbors are from here. We love them, and if you see them, say hi! They might share a thing or two about the area.
  • Wonderfully restored house. Beautiful views of farmland and the river. The kitchen is great for cooking and fully stocked. Nearby East Burke is very charming. We stayed with two little kids in April and had such a relaxing time.

    Caitlin2020-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • The farmhouse was the perfect spot for a long weekend for three generations of family - our youngest were four months and two years old ranging up to my parents in their 70s. There were 10 of us altogether, and it was a perfect spot. Super easy access to East Burke and the mountain biking and ski trails, quiet at night. The farmhouse is amazingly outfitted, if you are a cook you will pretty much have everything you need in the kitchen. The beds were comfortable, everything was spotless, and the response rate from Stéphane was excellent. He was always quick to respond before, during, and even after our stay. There is no doubt in my mind we will stay there again, maybe even next summer when we are there for mountain biking!

    Loryn2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • The host was awesome and we arranged for someone to ask if we needed help! The response is timely, and the configuration of the homestay is very complete, it is worth going again!

  • 5 stars for this magnificent farmhouse decorated with great taste, and with all the necessary equipment. Our group of 10 people spent a superb weekend enjoying the house. The good addresses provided also allowed us to enjoy the region despite the bad weather. We hope to return!

    Marianne2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was AWESOME! Such a cool, beautifully re done house! So much room and easy access to burke mountain and the kingdom trails! Stephane and the crew really exceed our expectations with help and making sure that we had everything we needed! Couldn't reccomend more!

    Emily2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Burke Farmhouse is beautiful and comfortable home that was perfect for our bi-coastal family to meet at for a winter holiday. The house was spacious and comfortable for our party of seven adults and two children. The kitchen was great for cooking and hanging out and we really appreciated the suggestions on things to do/see in the area. The highlights for us were a winter hike on the Mt. Pisgah and a couple days of cross country skiing at the absolutely amazing Craftbury Nordic Ski Center. Our young boys and and teenage nieces enjoyed playing in the backyard snow in the evenings while the adults prepared dinner. Such a great holiday! We hope to return for a summer visit.

    Jennifer2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This house was perfect for exploring the region. Stephane was a perfect planner as his house notes/manual help us with everything about the house. The place was perfectly clean, beds were comfortable, it was easy to find, very local to what you need. The manual had plenty of suggestions for activities/food/entertainment....

Our dogs really enjoyed running out in the backyard and then coming inside to warm by the fire on the dog bed that was provided. For us it was the perfect spot to enjoy the changing leaves and a relaxing weekend. :)

The house is located at the south end of the lake, nestled between Mt. Pisgah and Mt. Hor with access to multiple trails for hiking. Our dock across the street allows easy entrance for kayaks, paddle boards, and swimming. Lake Willoughby is a crystal clear lake stocked with fish from the local hatchery. (Check lake boating laws for Willoughby Lake for use of certain water crafts.) The house is located about 10 miles from the Northeast Kingdom Trails. Plenty of parking on premises.
With over 10 acres of land, there is plenty of parking on the property, which makes it convenient for bike or boat trailers. There is a dock located across from the driveway, which provides easy access for kayaks and paddleboards. White Caps Campground is located next to this lake house that rents paddleboards and kayaks. The store prepares food and has some groceries. There is a mountain bike trail in Burke that is only about 10 miles away. Great dining is available within 10 miles of this property.
This location is close to Burke Mountain and the NEK bike trails. It’s just down the road from the access points to the hiking trails. There’s a dock for easy entrance to Lake Willoughby on the property.
  • This place is beautiful and clean, and it has an amazing view to the lake. The lake is very beautiful itself. Sarah and Steve are great hosts and very responsive. They offered us to use their kayaks, which was wonderful. We had a blast there, and everything was amazing about our stay. We hope to come back soon.

  • This is a simple, comfortable house -- with a million dollar view at spectacular Lake Willoughby! The house is warm, with comfy beds sufficient for the whole family, a living room with woodstove and board games galore, a basic functional kitchen with all the pots and pans etc. for cooking up a winter batch of soup and a grill outside for summer barbecues. A public beach with great swimming (gentle slope and sandy bottom, perfect for kids) is right across the street, which is also the trailhead for Willoughby's southern shore loop trail. The deli at White Caps campground next door serves breakfast and lunch. The house makes the perfect base for a Northeast Kingdom vacation, hiking up Mount Pisgah, rock climbing, fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. In addition to the state park at Willoughby, Brighton State Park at Island Pond is a short drive away, as is the NorthWoods Stewardship center (with it's great demonstration forest and an interpretive trail featuring the foundations and cellar holes of the former Gardner farm), and the Nulhegan Basin visitor's center at the Silvio Conte National Wildlife Refuge.

Especially loved the abundance of fluffy white towels and washcloths and the lovely bedding - we felt like we were staying in a truly elegant bed & breakfast! • The closet space was wonderful, the floors and bathrooms were beautiful! The home was decorated for Christmas (must be year round) and the beautiful decor was on every surface. We carefully moved several things to be able to set things down and function, especially in the bedrooms. We would happily stay here again and will recommend to friends. The location was perfect for exploring Vermont and the White Mountains!

  • Rene's apartment is an excellent choice for a small family or group to use for visiting the North East Kingdom. There is a great little kitchen with all the spices and utensils you could need. The mattresses were very comfortable and our kids even slept through the night which is unusual. The view from the kitchen window is classic VT-mountains and rolling hills, and there is a fire pit and even horses right next door to visit. There is a secure locking shed for bike storage as well. The location is a quick drive over the Darling Hill area for easy access to the Kingdom Trails. I highly recommend Rene's place.

Nestled in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont on a maple lined country road at the base of Burke Mountain and 2.5 miles from the town of East Burke you will relax and refresh in the calm and comfort of a private wing of a beautiful circa 1835 brick farm house. Enjoy the views of Burke Mountain, our picturesque farm pond, and walks through our maple sugar woods. We are minutes from Burke Mountain, around the corner from the Kingdom Trails, VAST trails and hiking trails.
The House was first house built in the Town of Burke in 1795. Originally a 300 acre farm, it was owed by the Walter Family and its descendants until 1992. The bricks form the main part of the house and were transported to Burke via ox cart in the early 1800's. You will be transported back in time staying in an authentic New England farm house. You will enter through your own private entrance. The Main floor is comprised of a large, spacious and comfortable living room with small dining table. There is a small fridge, cooktop, microwave, toaster and keurig for your dining convenience inside; and a barbecue outside for your use. The downstairs bath is the first bathroom built in the town of Burke and has a beautiful, authentic claw foot porcelain bath tub. The second floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with stall shower. All the stenciling is original and the pine flooring was logged off of this land. You will have access to a shed to store your bikes and a hose to wash it off. Go for a relaxing swim in a nearby pond or river. Come and relax in a piece of history, step back in time and rejuvenate.
Nestled in the farmland of the Northeast Kingdom and looking out upon Burke Mountain. The rolling hills and maple sugar woods of Burke make this setting unique and memorable. The farm has been both a Morgan horse farm and Jersey cow farm for the past 221 years. Most of the people who live in the area were born and raised here and have stayed to raise their families in this special and unique part of the world. You will be treated to rolling hills, scenic vistas, open panoramas, and charming sugar woods and a myriad of animals both domestic and wild.
  • Very private, friendly atmosphere. Really enjoyed the goodies. Would recommend visiting the area.

  • This is an outstanding place to stay: clean, comfortable, cozy. Heather provides great hospitality, including delicious “goodies”. It’s in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Hope to return again!

    Dulany2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • I've stayed at Heather's place several times since 2017 - it's the first place I try to book when I go to the Kingdom Trails. Quiet, relaxing, and comfortable are just a few of the many reasons to stay here. This place (and Heather's hospitality) never disappoints.

  • A true home away from home!

    Greg2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were there to snowmobile, easy access to trial head. You do have to ride the road to a field, less then a eighth of a mile. We had snow on the side of the road to ride. Heather and her place - perfect. We would stay there again.

Mere steps from the rushing Passumpsic River and with clear views of Burke Mountain Ski Resort, enjoy the quiet and cozy guest suite of this sun soaked Chalet home. Located a few miles north of the Village of East Burke off Vermont Route 114, this location offers quick and easy access to Burke Mountain, Kingdom Trials and the VAST trail system. Set on 13 quiet and private acres bordered by the river, it is great for enjoying a waterside campfire, hiking the woods or having a summer swim.
This suite consists of a combination living room, kitchenette, dinette. Also a bathroom and bedroom which sleeps 5 containing a queen bed and a bunk bed with a queen bottom bunk and twin top bunk. • I was one of the first guests to stay at this new place in Burke. I found it to be a really great value. It is just a few minutes north of Burke Mtn, East Burke, and Kingdom Trails. It has wonderful views of Burke Mtn. The space is, well, very spacious, occupying the entire basement area of the house, with a big living room, big bedroom, and big bathroom area. Groups with lots of ski, climbing, or other gear will really appreciate the space for sorting, drying, and organizing gear. The bedroom has a large bed (queen?) and a bunk bed. There is a Roku TV screen in there (no TV in the living room, but TV isn't why you go to the Northeast Kingdom). The kitchen area, which is essentially part of the large living room area, is a bit limited, so keep your meal prep simple. The hosts are quite friendly and communicative, while allowing you your privacy. All in all, this new offering in Burke is an excellent value and a fantastic value--I highly recommend booking it for your Northeast Kingdom adventures.

For a short time a special discount will be offered for any three night stay during this winter. Now is the time to enjoy a winter in the Northeast Kingdom. 10-15% discount when booked. This spacious house is overlooking Lake Willoughby with breath taking views. The house is on a dead end road. My place is good for couples, business travelers, and families. While relaxing in the Great room enjoy the ever changing views including wildlife. So much to explore and do in the North East Kingdom.
The bathrooms have recently been remodeled and the kitchen is next. We are offering the house at a reduced rate until the kitchen is done. The three season enclosed porch does have a pull out couch for those who enjoy waking up to the sunrise. The Great room with the covered porch is most guests favorite where they spend time relaxing enjoying the breath-taking views.
Lake Willoughby, Westmore is a very special area with so much natural beauty. Hiking trails, beaches, local fairs, farmers markets, and special celebrations allow opportunities for you to enjoy the area. Burke Mountain is 30 minutes away and Jay Peak is an hour away.
  • This place is absolutely amazing! It’s so peaceful and the views are stellar. Donna was very easy to communicate with and very kind. We will definitely be back, beyond what we expected. Thanks Donna!

  • I stayed at Donna’s beautiful home. Even with it being winter time, it was absolutely amazing. The views were unbelievable. The home was impeccable. Very clean. It was just simply a perfect stay! I especially loved the shower and tub to relax in! Plus Donna was very responsive, immediately answered my messages and was wonderful to deal with. Highly recommend checking out her beautiful home and enjoy a great stay! I will be back for fall time😍

  • My boyfriend and I were looking for a quiet getaway after the holidays. Donna’s place was perfect! We enjoyed sitting by the fireplace and looking out at the insanely beautiful view. The updated master bathroom has a steam shower which was a pleasant surprise. Donna was a great host and provided info about the area. We had never heard of Lake Willoughby before and were totally surprised by their resemblance to Norwegian fjords (Stunning glacial lake between two mountains). We hiked Mount Pisgah, well worth it for the view!

    Jessie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Donna’s house is at a great location!! We enjoyed the sun set from living room couch, and played games by the fireplace!! And everyone loved the standing shower in the Master bathroom!! This is perfect spot to enjoy winter and summer activities!! The house was very clean!! Luckily sky was so clean and we were able to do star gazing from out side of the house!! This was something not planned so this was surprise for us!! Since this area is kind a remote if you are coming from city then the “Willoughby Lake Store” has almost everything if you forget any basic things to take it with you.

  • Our stay in Burke was perfect, thanks to Tanya and Stu! They communicated quickly and even gave us a heads up about the weather. Our favorite part was the hand written note, maple syrup, and board games. We also enjoyed getting to meet both of them, since this doesn't happen often with AirBnBs. Amazing work to the both of them, we can't wait to visit again!

  • We had booked this cabin for a weekend getaway, and that was exactly what we got.. Jake was very quick in responding and went out of way to help us. Gave us some good suggestions for restaurants around. Tim's brother in law was around, so helped us find the cabin. Would love to book it again sometime.

  • Great place!

    Jonathan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tim’s place was exactly what we expected. It’s location is a great place to get rolling in the morning right at the base of Skydive/Farm Junk / White School. The cabin is dry and cozy and there’s a nice grassy area to hang outside. Propane stove works well. This is a Great alternative to a camp ground. You’re vehicle will need some ground clearance especially loaded up with bikes and gear but we had no issues with large SUVs and a truck. Communication with Tim was real good too.

    Jay2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tim's place is exactly what I was looking for--a no frills cabin close to the trails. If you want to drive all the way to the cabin, you'll definitely need four wheel drive and good clearance, but it's not a bad walk otherwise. The location is right in the trails and feels like you're in the middle of the woods, even though you're super close to East Burke

    Julia2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is an excellent home-base when mountain biking or hiking in the NE Kingdom. It is as pictured and a fun place to stay for those who want to get away and don't mind roughing it a bit. The cabin was well stocked with toilet paper and other necessities but you'll need to carry in your own water. Your car is a 10 minute walk away and there, you can access a hose to fill water bottles. Overall, Tim's cabin is an amazing place to go unplug.

  • If you are debating on staying at Sallie's or somewhere closer to town, stay at Sallies! This was a healing experience for me. I recommend bundling up and sitting on the back porch + looking at the stars. I didn't get to meet Sallie for long but it is evident how sweet and caring she is. Her pets are hilarious, welcoming and everything I needed after missing my two cats from being on the road for a few days. Thank you Sallie for sharing your special home with us!

  • This is a very authentic and unique place. Sallie is very friendly and has very interesting conversations to share her experiences and life style with the guests. She and her animal family are lovely and welcomed us warmly. Nature all around and a very good place for animal lovers.

    Marta2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sallie’s place is very big and offered everything we needed. We enjoyed the location, the view, and the privacy.

    Lee2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Sallie’s place. She owns a little piece of heaven and you will not be disappointed. The cottage is close to Crescent and Willoughby Lakes as well as Burke Mountain....take a swim and a bike ride the same day. I loved walking around the pond and relaxing on the porch with the cats and dogs. Sallie also provided STRONG coffee in the morning and organic apples for my trip back home. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend!

  • Sallie’s location is beautiful. It’s extremely peaceful and quiet. I recommend coming to experience Vermont if you get the chance.

  • Great location, right off the lake and vast trail system.

    Josh2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice clean house/cabin right on the shore of Island Pond, very good location for snowmobiling, trail is right across the street or you can access the trails if the pond is frozen. Plenty of room for a truck and trailer in the driveway.

    Joseph2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Travis is a great communicator, and even with a little hiccup during our stay he did whatever he could to make it right. The house was perfect for our “snocation.” The location was perfect and the house met all our needs and was a snowmobilers paradise. We’ve already rented the place twice and I’m sure we will be back.

    Nicole2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for our snowmobile trip, with quick access to trails. The house was great, and had everything we needed- and it had an awesome view of the lake. Definitely will be going back!

    Ma2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s place is perfect for a visit to ride Kingdom Trails! The unit is perfect for a couple, and we had plenty of space for all of our stuff. The covered bike storage out back was a bonus, and there was a hose to wash our bikes as needed. Communication and check in was super easy. No one was staying in the rest of the house while we were there, so it was very private. We would definitely stay again!

Birdhous in the heart of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Right off of Route 16 and less than a mile from interstate 91 for easy access to area attractions or rest along your route. This season, we're offering our guests room by room rentals, hoping to connect more with our guests and to bring better energy into our hous than has been offered when renting the whole place as a private space.
This home functions as a residential agricultural incubator in the warm months and is available as a cozy nest for travelers during the cold ones. Our hous is a budget, no-frills, basic amenities kind of place, but we'll be happy to rise to the occasion if you let us know what you need! The toilet is separate from the bath to allow for long uninterrupted periods in the tub.
  • Budget-Friendly. As advertised. Easy access. Need-to-know communication. Water is extremely sulfur-laden. I hope you don't have a phobia of Chickens

Our newly renovated cabin in Burke is the getaway we always dreamed of. Located on a private dirt road it is only 4 Miles to the Kingdom Trails and close to the Victory Hill and East Haven trails as well. It is a great place to relax after a day of incredible riding. Hiking and swimming at Lake Willoughby is only 35 min away too. Our cabin is great for groups, but is also suitable for a weekend escape.
The recent renovation was handled by two local VT craftsmen who took great pride in using natural and reclaimed wood to create a super cozy and unique cabin. The layout is unique as well. There are 4 levels plus a loft. The first floor has a trundle bed (a bed with another bed on wheels under it). The second floor is the kitchen and bath area. Coffee maker, dishes, silverware, glassware, pots, pans and things like bottle openers are provided. A small stack-able washer and dryer are also located here. The third floor has two twin beds. The fourth floor has a Queen bed and a beautiful view of Burke mountain. Off of the fourth floor bedroom is a loft with a window that has a queen sized futon mattress. Outside there is a small fire pit, charcoal grill and a bike stand/washing area. Please note: In the winter we recommend all-wheel/4 wheel drive and good tires. The cabin is on a hilly road that is privately maintained.
The cabin is located on a private and quiet dirt road. Occasionally our neighbor lets his goats roam free. Don't be surprised to see them helping mow the lawn. In the winter we recommend all-wheel/4 wheel drive and good tires. The cabin is on a hilly road that is privately maintained.
  • The place is unique. Beautiful views, very homely, and great location for a getaway in Vermont. Highly recommended.

    Nicolas2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house was amazing. The mountain views along with the sunsets views from the kitchen were beautiful. Modern. secluded, and cozy! More than enough room, and the beds were super comfortable!

  • Amazing, amazing, amazing. It doesn’t get much better than this, and if it does, it wouldn’t be an adventure.

    James2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cabin for a friends getaway weekend and the space worked perfectly for our needs. The cabin is situated on a quiet road in a beautiful location surrounded by forest. The unique layout of the cabin lent itself well for our group and despite its open layout provided plenty of privacy for everyone. The cabin is wonderfully decorated and bright with lots of windows looking out at the surrounding forest and Burke Mountain. It was also very well stocked with all the cooking utensils you could need as well as coffee and filters for the coffee maker. The beds were super comfy and there were plenty of extra blankets available as well. All in all the cabin provided us with a perfect home base for our weekend adventures and we would absolutely stay there again in the future.

    Ed2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This home is cozy and comfortable with great views of Burke. It's an ideal location for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, fat biking, or any other outdoor winter activity you so desire. Nathan and Amy were very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay again!

  • Gorgeous views and beautiful campsites. The hike in was great and you feel on top of the world once you get to the campsites

    Savannah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Phil was great at answering questions. He reserved camp 1 for us. AMAZING views, especially at sunset. It's a bit hidden, so easier to arrive in daylight.

    Ryan2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's property and camping sites are purely magical! The photos don't do the views any justice. They are absolutely stunning in person. Sitting by the edge of the site enjoying the calm breeze while looking out over the treetops lining the blue skies above the sunshine reflecting off the lake below with my young son was one of the most perfect moments of my life. All three sites have stunning views but we chose the third to have more privacy. There were other people camping on sites 1 and 2 and another down by one of the many structures built around the property but no one bothered anyone else and all were friendly when we passed each other. You can hear some noise from the lake below but overall, it is incredibly peaceful and we enjoyed a nice fire in the fire circle provided while gazing at the full sky of stars at night. Philip was friendly and quick to respond to our questions. He was available by phone to help us find the site when we arrived. Like others said, there is a bit of a hike to the sites. The trail to the first site takes about 3-5 minutes. To the third site took around 7-10 minutes. We don't have much experience hiking beyond large, flat trails and struggled to stay on the path when we first arrived (luckily Philip was readily available by phone and helped us get back on track!) and afterwards, while making trips to and from our car. My wife left small piles of pine cones along the trail to help us and others find the way. Hope it helps some of the other less experienced adventurers find their way to all three of the sites! We also left behind some extra firewood by the trail entrance. We can't wait to stay at this gem again! Thank you, Philip for sharing this beautiful place with others. We are so grateful.

  • Zen location, stellar views, the perfect Vermont haven to chill out with nature and enjoy this wonderful state! This is my 3rd time here, and definitely coming back!

    Jesse2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10! Philips sites are amazing. Site 1 has incredible views, but you may encounter some people if you chose that site as many people have been going to that area for years with their families to see the sunsets - which would still totally be worth it regardless, everyone in the area is so nice anyway! We chose site 3 only because it was the most secluded. All 3 sites are a really good size, we had a 9 person tent, a grill, and a table set up with still plenty of room. There were people at site 2, but we didn’t hear them, although we became friends and ended up hanging out! The walk was about 5 minutes into the woods, which sucks when you’re weak like me, but it was doable if you pack light! (I’d still do it again no questions asked) We knew to pack light from reading previous reviews, so instead of risking forgetting something we just packed everything we would’ve for a normal camping trip, and left half of what we brought in the truck until we needed it. I wish I could attach pictures, because nothing beats the views you get at these sites. I’ve already recommended the sites to 3 people who saw pictures of mine, and they can’t wait to check it out. There’s a lake at the bottom of the hill, but if you want to drive about 15 minutes, you need to check out Lake Willoughby while you’re there. So many beautiful places all around the area. We’ll definitely be back, thanks for sharing your property with us Philip!

    Kimberly2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great view and location. Quiet and we had a great time. Make sure to find wood for your fire before getting there as it is really expensive at the grocery store.

    David2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you like backpacking to a private beautiful camp spot this is for you! It is primitive but Philip built a convenient fire pit and small bench. There were two other campers next to us but we did not see or hear them.

  • Very cozy cabin on a pretty little lake in the NEK. Great local spots a short away!

  • Very cute, cozy cabin by the lake. We didn't get the most out of the location because of bad weather but would recommend it.

    Paul2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures DEFINITELY don’t do this place justice. It was absolutely stunning and the perfect time of year to see Shadow Lake. The fall-color reflection on the water was a beauty to behold. I stayed in the loft and my aunt downstairs. I stayed up a bit later to take some long-exposure pictures of the lake at night, which was a lot of fun. The next morning, we went to breakfast at the Busy Bee, which was a perfect start to our day in Vermont. I’d stay here again :)

    Kyle2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for a night in early October; it was a perfect spot for an evening in the NEK. We took a nap the moment we arrived, then drove up to Parker Pie for an amazing dinner. Then back to the cabin with a couple cans of beer, put Safe House into the DVD player, and cozied up on the couch. In the morning we made coffee and walked along the shore of the lake. We’ll be back for sure!!

    Jedediah2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and quaint little spot with water views and small private beach. Great option of kayaking which we would have utilized had the weather been warmer. Everything we needed for a lovely evening and morning. A true NEK gem :) great that it was dog friendly as well!

Rustic, timber framed cabin nestled in the hills 5 minutes from Kingdom Trails mountain bike network and Burke Mountain bike park! Our cabin sits in a meadow surrounded by wildflowers and adjacent to a small apple orchard. You'll have beautiful views of Burke Mountain with a short walk up the hill and 40 acres of undeveloped forest to explore. We have an outdoor fire pit, lawn games and a composting toilet close by. Come enjoy this magical place with your friends and family!
The cabin sits on the edge of a wooded forest and an open meadow. Parking is right next to the cabin. The cabin was hand built with traditional tools and using a mortise and tenon technique. The lumber (flooring, siding, shelving and bar tops) was milled right from the land. The cabin gets a lot of day time sun and offers spectacular star gazing on a clear night. There is an open space for outdoor fires, lawn games and enjoyed a cold beverage after a long bike ride, hike, or swim. 1/2 mile down the road is a secret, small swimming hole with a water fall.
You will be sharing the woods with our local neighbors - birds, squirrels, deer, and maybe a rare sighting of a bob cat or bear! Please be respectful and thoughtful about interacting with nature. This is a rural community but there are neighbors and farms adjacent to the property as well as a yurt down the hill that people also rent. Please be respectful of these people and be mindful of your noise after quiet hours.

Razzle's cabin is on the Kingdom Trails! Right out the front door is the Coronary Bypass trail that connects to the entire network! It's a quiet, private setting off from West Darling Hill road. Sunny deck with grill, sweet fire pit, and now, an outdoor shower and bike wash! Voila!
Cozy cabin, described by one guest as the kangaroo pouch of Kingdom Trails!! We love that compliment!
Razzle’s is located across from Coronary bypass on Kingdom Trails. 5 minutes from Burke Mountain and 10 minutes to lake Willoughby! Quiet peaceful neighborhood!
  • This house is just perfect. Clean, wonderful art, tons of natural light, and great location.

  • What a terrific place! A quiet spot to escape for some down time with the family and a short drive to East Burke, fat biking on the snow and skiing at Burke. We could not have asked for anything more. The house was clean, neat and welcoming. We hope to return the next time we can swing a trip this way.

  • Razzle’s cabin is the kangaroo's pouch of Darling Hill. We cross-country skied, fat-biked, and guzzled hot cocoa to our heart's content- trail conditions were top notch this last week of January 2020. From Razzle's you can skip across the road, ski the whole Coronary loop, and finish on a downhill. Or you can drive three minutes to a fat-biking trail-head. Or pop into town and eat a sandwich. The cabin itself is clean, warm, and inviting. Fantastic towel selection. Thank you Sandy! -A couple of snow deprived Mainers

    Christina2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a weekend getaway. The space is even cuter than the pictures, is in a perfect location (we skied onto the Kingdom Trails right from the door) and has lovely views out the windows and off the back deck. Loved the natural light coming in all the windows and glass doors. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked with pots, pans, and dishes to cook a lovely meal. We enjoyed the no-TV atmosphere and backgammon that was provided. The main floor bedroom was comfortable, bright, and clean -- ditto on the bathroom. The kids loft upstairs was super cute (although we didn't make use of it). Would definitely stay here again -- maybe for mountain biking on the KT this summer!

  • This accommodation is located in a place of unique beauty and tranquility. The accommodation is very well provided for a very good stay. We strongly recommend this location for those going to MTB, the short drive distance is well justified by the excellent value for money.

    Marie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, easy to find, very comfortable bed and living quarters. The communal spaces are well appointed, washer and dryer is excellent after a long day of riding. Can’t recommend this place enough!

  • Really nice place to stay. You have all things like home... washing machine, microwave, oven, plates, everything! The hosts were helping to know what to do around the place and where to eat. Nice welcome from the host. I recommend this 100%. It was very clean and it smells good inside.

  • Stayed in the twin room and made use of the great kitchen facilities. Everything was very comfortable. Even the wee fans were a surprising help on a super hot weekend. Janelle and Kyle gave us a warm welcome and responded quickly to any concerns. And of course the area is simply gorgeous. We will be back!

    JoAnne2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Janelle and Kyle were great hosts. I was in the area for work and having a clean, warm bed to sleep in made an otherwise tiring weekend bearable. Thank you!

Soak up the sunset drenched water views of this Northeast Kingdom lake house. Perched on Lake Parker, three verandas surround the house providing a choice of sunshine, dappled sun, and shade. Or, walk out on the dock and take in the big sky any time of day. Hear the call of the loon and perhaps glimpse the resident eagle. Sky and lake views pour into almost every room in the house. Comfy furniture, plenty of dishes, games and books are conducive to quality time with family and friends.
Great room, with propane fireplace, opens onto large deck with lots of space for lounging and dining. The kitchen is equipped with propane stove, fridge, dishwasher, plenty of dishes and a breakfast bar. There are two bedrooms upstairs, with a queen size bed, a private bath and balcony in the master bedroom, and a double bed in the other bedroom. Finished basement opens onto lakefront, with TV and table for games or computer, and futon sofa for additional sleeping. The other bathroom is on main floor. This multi-level house is NOT handicap accessible or easy for people who have trouble with stairs. There is a garage for storing bikes and easy access to two kayaks under the deck.
This is the friendliest neighborhood ever. The local pizza/beer pub and community gathering place Parker Pie is a mile down the road. Beach Hill Fitness, a gym with exercise equipment is two miles in the other direction. This area has world class gravel road biking. The Orleans County Fairgrounds is 4 miles, Bread and Puppet Theater is about six miles. The house is a 10 minute drive to both Barton and Glover Villages, with groceries, libraries and gas. Less than a half hour drive on the back roads to world renown Hill Farmstead Brewery, Highland Center for the Arts, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Sterling College, the Old Stone House Museum, the Bread & Puppet Museum, the Museum of Everyday Life and Willoughby Lake with miles of hiking trails. Visit the Farmers Market in Glover on Sundays, or any morning indulge in fresh baked goods from the Barton Bakery Company.
  • Such a great host! Amazing views and wonderful hospitality! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

  • This is a rare property with amazing hosts Denis and Peggy. Place is big and at beautiful lake. Hosts are really helpful and keeps the place neat and clean. We stayed here 2 nights and they were not enough for this amazing experience . Definitely would like to come back.

  • 5/5! Perfect spot for a getaway break. Beautiful location and property. The decks are fantastic to unwind and relax. Enjoyed the kayak's and paddle boards too. Would love to return!

    Tom2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Peggy’s place was a dream! The area is beautiful and the lake is lovely. Having the canoes and big wind surfing board was super fun and the dock was a great space to enjoy the day and have a nice sunset snack. The house is fully loaded and there’s everything you need there, the kitchen is better stocked than most peoples homes! Loved the area, the pizza place was delicious, hill farmstead brewery was great, and the Puppet show was weird and not sure I would recommend but the museum there was amazing. Would definitely return to the house.

    Louise2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Backyard incredible!

    Caroline2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing. The kitchen was well stocked and we made use of the kayaks and paddle board. There was a fire pit and even a small garden with fresh veggies! Peggy was prompt with responses and we would love to stay again.

  • Just book this place! It was fabulous!!! If you want to just relax by a gorgeous lake in a beautiful home, take in the scenery, and just recharge, this is the best place to do it! It is clean and comfy, open yet still has a cozy feel. Everybody around is super nice and some fun things to do as well. I give this place 10 out of 5 stars!!!

    Alison2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This lake-side house has a wonderful deck and dock: the deck is enormous and well-furnished with chairs, tables, and a propane grill. The sunsets are beautiful. The dock, too, is a lovely place to sit and read and from which to take a swim in the truly magnificent. crystalline waters of Parker Lake. There are several kayaks, as well. Given the number of houses surrounding the lake, it is remarkably quiet and peaceful; the haunting and sometimes comical cry of the resident loons was the only sound we heard some evenings and every night. The location of Peggy's and Dennis's home can't be beaten: on the lake and just a wee bit down the road from the fabulous Paper Pie! The house itself is comfortable and well-equipped: the kitchen contains a good stove with a griddle; a large fridge and freezer with bountiful ice; nice stoneware plates, and plenty of cabinets & workspace. The living room has a big window overlooking the lake and a large gas stove for chilly Vermont evenings. The deck off the master bedroom also overlooks the lake. And if you want to stay in touch, both internet and smartphone reception are strong. Dennis and Peggy are considerate hosts: they answered emails quickly and were friendly and welcoming (Peggy greeted us with a sweet bouquet of wildflowers). The guest book contains many good suggestions in regard to food, beer, maple syrup, hikes, etc.and some nice history of the region. Neighbors, too, are friendly. All in all, we enjoyed another terrific stay in the NEK--one of our favorite places in the USA and our time at Sunset Perch only added to our pleasure.

My home is an eclectic cottage filled with interesting art, in a light airy space, a short walk to Lake Willoughby, with a great porch and yard to hang out in.
  • A very charming home! Great location and a wonderful host!

    Kristy2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Marysue's place is a unique and rewarding experience. The lake and hiking trails are nearby and the house is lovely, interesting, comfortable and practical. It's a very special place.

    Christine2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Marysue was a great host! The cottage was wonderful with everything we needed in a great location! Sunsets were magnificent just 1.5miles up the road at Sentinel Rock. Thanks!

    Becca2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful girls’ weekend retreat at Marysu’s cottage. We enjoyed ice cream from the local store, walks along the water and the beach as well as a hike on Mount Pisgah. But, even more so, we enjoyed drinking coffee on the porch, curling up in chairs with the many books throughout the house, and exploring all the little knick knacks that make this home so unique. The price and value cannot be beat!

    Emma2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This has it all! A welcoming host, excellent home with everything you could need and terrific location. Marysue was a pleasure to meet and rent from, the house is warm and very comfortable and it’s a very short walk to Lake Willoughby.

    Mathew2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy cottage a block away from Lake Willoughby, an easy walk to the "center" of Westmore. Just up the hill is the amazing Sentinel Rock State Park. Worth the 5 minute drive for the history and the view. The cottage is filled with art, old home vibes, nooks and crannies, and comfortable places to relax. This is not a fancy place, but a place well loved and full of life. We felt completely at home. Generously simple breakfast things were provided. Lots of towels. Plenty of dishes/glasses, etc.. No AC, but lots of good fresh air ventilation, and the sound of a burbling brook right up against the house. There are a few decent places to get lunch and dinner within 5 minutes. Drive a little longer for more options.

  • True country living!!

    Ryan2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very cozy and wonderful to stay in. We walked down to the lake in the evenings for sunset walks and drove up to find a beautiful view on the top of the road at a small state park up there. Location was amazing and the space is well loved by Marysue.

  • Staying at the apartment was excellent, it was clean and was one of the best-equipped Airbnbs I've stayed at. Great location for skiing and other outdoor activities, and very spacious for a few people. Highly recommended.

    Andrew2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely phenomenal - we were sad to leave! We were just a couple, but a family of four or two couples would be very comfortable here. Super easy, beautiful space, many thoughtful touches throughout. It's also in a lovely town; plenty of great food, coffee, bagels, and dinner spots! We'll be back as soon as we get the chance.

    John (Aidan)2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Amy's place on Martin Luther King weekend. The space was cozy and comfortable, with a touch of luxury (king size bed and rainfall shower head). The location was convenient for us and easy to get to and from. In particular, the house sits on pretty flat ground, so there were no snowy hills to negotiate. The covered bridge in the pictures is very close by and quite pretty. Thanks, Amy and Brett!
