My house is situated 5 miles from Newark and 12 miles from Lincoln, about two miles from Newark Showground. The guest bedroom is an attic style room with an apex, ideal for 1 or two adults/children, however, there is restricted headroom. I do have another guest room with a double bed with draw and wardrobe space and a desk/dressing table (see my other listing). There is a separate lounge area with Sky TV and a shared kitchen with free tea, coffee, milk and sugar provided and a lovely garden.
Guests can access all the ground floor space (kitchen, dining area and two lounges). They have access to the shared bathroom on the first floor
The house is close to a wonderful restaurant in the village (The Black Swan) and only two miles from Newark Showground and the Aircraft Museum. The National Civil War Centre is 5 miles away.

  • Dean has a lovely home and was very welcoming for me and my friend when we stayed. It is a great space and an incredibly impressive record collection. I’d love to have stayed longer to chatted about music! The room was nice and beds very comfortable. I’m about 6ft2 and had to hunch slightly in the room but it’s definitely not an issue at all. I’d love to stay again if in the same area and definitely recommend the place.

  • We stayed here as we were attending a local festival. It’s a very cute little stay. Gavin was a great host, very welcoming, and told us all about the area we were staying. We loved the little touches such as the themed towels and bedding. It was super clean, spacious and had a beautiful outdoor area with a little picnic table! We will definitely be staying here again, it was lovely.

    Molly2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this detached space in lovely rural surroundings, with hens and bantums running free in a beautifully kept farm. There are great roads and villages all around if you like a country drive and pub. Gavin and Libby were great, unintrusive hosts.

    Malc2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and tidy in a nice and quiet location in the countryside. Would definitely recommend this place and stay again.

    Jan2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely quiet location. Gavin provided a good range of basic food and drink supplies for us to use. Communication was quick and clear.

  • You will not be disappointed in booking a stay at The Stable. It is really superb self-contained accommodation, with great facilities, and in a beautiful setting. Gavin, the host and his wife, are fantastic people - so friendly and obliging, and go far beyond the extra mile to make their guests feel comfortable and at home. The Stable at Littlegates Farm is very highly recommended by us, it is very clean and well appointed, and we would certainly return there.

    Anne2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • From Gavin's warm welcome and willingness to help in any way he could, to the comfortable and classy accommodation in an idyllic location, I cannot rate The Stables highly enough. Everything about The Stables is quality - the finish, the extremely comfortable bed and furniture, a large screen television and a silent fridge!. And, of course, it was spotlessly clean. Gavin also very kindly provided some thoughtful touches, with everything provided to make yourself a nice breakfast. All for a very reasonable price. The greatest commendation I can give is that I will definitely be back!

    Neil2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gavin and family are amazing people really happy to help and useful information about the local area. Amazing hosts, amazing property and location and I would not hesitate to stay again.

Witham Saint Hughs, England, United Kingdom

The self-catering studio space is private, just outside garden of main house, with its own drive for parking. It's close to the centre of the village and has excellent car and rail connections to other parts of the UK. It is ideal for one or two guests - couples, solo adventurers, business travellers. Simple help-yourself breakfast included, and some provisions, with small kitchenette. There's a garage space on ground floor below if needed for storage. Please note spiral staircase is narrow.
The space is like a tardis. It opens up at the top and is a warm, compact space, simply furnished. Although it is next to a village street on one side, it is generally quiet; you can hear owls in the evening sometimes.
The studio space is near the centre of the village with a greengrocers, a butchers, and two small supermarkets a minute or two away for those wishing to cook. Otherwise, there are two pubs (limited food), two cafes and two good restaurants, one with a wine bar and sometimes live music, as well as good fish and chips, Indian (sit down) and Chinese take-away amenities. The church dates from the medieval period and is well worth investigating. All around there are walks. A drive away, plenty more to visit.
  • Cosy and homely place to stay.

    Juliet2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay with thoughtful touches! So warm and cosy. Delighted with the fresh local produce waiting for us with a lovely bottle of red wine. Exceptional guidebook with local info. WiFi info was particularly helpful as it was a bit touch and go with storm Dennis! 100% would recommend and stay again!

    Ellie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A well appointed studio space with a few surprises. Clean, quite and relaxing with everything needed for pleasant stay. Great communication from Harriet and what a great location in a superb village in the Vale of Belvior.

    Stephen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Harriet was wonderful with us, took care of every detail and was extremely friendly. The flat is just like the photos, very well decorated and clean. In the small kitchen, you have what you need, in addition to a pantry that allows you to make your own breakfast. Nearby you can find a restaurant and a small market. The train station is 5 minutes walking, but I recommend that people go by car. If you go to hell, I recommend taking warm clothes, the flat has heating and a hot bedding. My husband and I recommend the place and would go back for a second visit.

    Danielle2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed in the main house at Harriet's before and this was my first time in the studio. Cosy, snug, peaceful - I slept so well and got lots of work done. Harriet had filled the fridge with basics and breakfast things and left such a kind welcome gift - a bar of vegan chocolate. Definitely game for a return visit.

    Sarah2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy and comfortable! Harriet is a great host, very friendly and welcoming! Definitely recommend!

Single room in a quaint detached house in a lovely Village near the A1. The house is newly decorated, but keeps some of its original charm and features. Collingham Village has 3 pubs (including a restaurant) a coop, local butchers, post office and newsagent. It is easy to get to by road or railway, being very close to the A46 and 5.5 miles from the A1. Please note the house is located on the village high street and the windows are old so you will experience noise from the traffic at night.
There is a living/dining room ,kitchen and bathroom that is shared between the 2 rooms
The village is traditional and has good amenities including 3 pubs with restaurants, 2 x takeaways, butchers, post office , library and post office
  • The place was amazing great pub across the road with great locals and food. The host was very polite and I was on a Tower Crane course and it was only 2 miles from the training centre one straight road 4 minutes away. From what the other people told me regarding where they was staying I certainly got lucky with this one I will be passing the company the link for future candidates. Thanks a lot Kate like being home from home.

  • House is very clean, cosy and good value for money. Had everything what I needed. Highly recommend

    Atif2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kates place is tidy and very clean. The room had a comfortable bed with plenty of bedding. The house was warm and well appointed. The only downside is it is next to a relatively busy road but this really didn't bother me. It was pretty quiet at night time and Kate provided ear plugs although personally I didn't require them. Kate left recommendations for an excellent local pub restaurant a 3 min walk from the house. All in all, a very good experience representing superb value. Recommended.

  • Very comfortable stay. Lovely area with lots of walks for my dog. Everything I needed was available and swift communication.

    Stacey2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Scotts twice within 2 weeks. The first for 3 nights, the second time for 2 nights. As mentioned on another review the bungalow is attached to a vets, but wasn't a problem as they weren't really open when we slept there. You can hear the odd consultation but very faintly. Collingham is a good village for amenities and the bungalow is central to the village and easily accessible. We parked just off Station Road and just along from the vets entrance, this is a little safer than parking on the road/path in front of the bungalow. Overall a very handy place to stay which is both clean, warm and with many home comforts.....the only disconcerting thing was the TV....which seemed to be able to turn itself on!!!!! which happened several times on both stays.....spooky.

  • Morag and Ian were so welcoming and kind: they provided us with local taxi advice to make getting to and from a wedding easy; their house is sparkling and we enjoyed breakfast they provided. Thanks again!

    Naomi2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 1 night for an event at PFI Karting. Ian and Morag were very friendly and helpful. A lovely comfortable bed. Pub within walking distance for evening meal.

  • Everything was exactly as described on the website. Very clean, well appointed and all of a good quality. I was a single traveller and felt very safe and welcome whilst I was there. Breakfast was cooked to order, fruit juice, tea/coffee and then either poached or scrambled eggs on toast. You could have fruit and yoghurt instead if you preferred. Small things like fresh milk and iced water were also provided and topped up for the second day. It was just the right amount of hospitality, you could have a chat or just do your own thing if you had a busy day. I would highly recommend their lovely home.

  • A Pleasant , homely house ,set in a rural location , within 4 to 6 miles of Newark. All facilities were in place , tea making TV and a really comfortable double bed . The hosts were really friendly and helpful , breakfast was nice but with limited choice which was enough for me . I would stop here again if i was in the area but be aware if you are allergic to cats they do have two ,which presented no problem for me . There is a pub within walking distance if you wish an evening meal .If you want peace and quiet , this is the place to be

  • Particularly if you a lone traveller, as I was, this is a safe haven of peace and tranquility, with a lovely outlook onto the garden which is only a step away through the patio doors and yet is within easy reach of the town centre on foot or by car. My hosts were readily available if I needed anything but were wise enough to allow solitude to be mine and didn't intrude at any point. I found it to be a perfect space and commend it to you.

Our bedroom was a good size with a very comfortable bed, connected to a modern, en-suite bathroom with amazing rainwater shower and lovely, thick, soft white towels. Elaine was the perfect host, meeting us on our arrival, providing a nice, healthy breakfast and even dropping me back at the wedding venue to collect my car on the morning of our departure. Would we recommend this place? 100% yes. We would happily stay again.

Newark-on-Trent is a market town in Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. It stands on the River Trent, the A1 (on the route of the ancient Great North Road), and the East Coast Main Line railway. The origins of the town are possibly Roman as it lies on an important Roman road, the Fosse Way. The town grew around Newark Castle, now ruined, and a large marketplace, now lined with historic buildings, and was a centre for the wool and cloth trade. In the English Civil War, it was besieged by Parliamentary forces and had to be relieved by Prince Rupert in a battle known as the Relief of Newark.
  • Cosy, pleasant and warm room with nice breakfast. Bathroom across corridor with roll-top bath/shower. Colin was very accommodating of our arrival time and kept our bags during the day of departure. Located a short walk from Newark town centre. Good value for money.

  • This place is a little off the beaten track but a really lovely very and quiet retreat to get out of busy Lincoln after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast was lovely and the bed was comfy. Our 7 month old was well catered for too with a cot and a highchair and some utensils etc. The electricity went off a few times and they were quick as a flash in helping out and getting it back on again. Couldn't fault the directions they gave us too as we couldn't find it initially. There is no internet but that was good actually as me and my partner actually talked to one another. Also not really suitable for the extremely tall as the are big beams in the annexe. Haha.

If you want to be close to Lincoln & Newark but not right in town this is an ideal location, minutes from Newark Showground, the A1 and A46 and not many more to Newark Stations. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

  • James is a perfect host and his house is lovely. Was perfect for my needs cosy, warm and clean... sorry if I trailed some mud in from site but I was trying my best to avoid it by changing my shoes in the office....

  • James is the most wonderful , Delightful, caring host! It was like staying with a family member. His home is charming in a quiet neighborhood. It is about a 10 minute walk to the main part of Grantham and all the shops. I am from America and was unsure about how my accommodations would be. James’ place and James himself exceeded every expectation I had and put my mind to ease quickly! James is very thoughtful and gives you travel tips and recommendations on what to see locally and where to eat! When you come home from a weekend excursion he is there waiting to make sure you made it home safely. He is a delight to speak to, he asks about your stay and visit. He had fresh flowers in the house and it felt so very welcoming! We also travel to Scotland and to Greece. James’ place far exceeded anything we stayed at. If you stay here you will not be disappointed!

A charming grade II listed victorian property in the conservation area, and 5 minutes walking distance from the centre of Newark-on-Trent, a quintessential English historic market town with a traditional market square, Town Hall, castle and gardens, bandstand and home to the National Civil War Centre. Clean, bright, airy, stylish with a mixture of quality traditional and contemporary decor and furnishings. Free parking, Freeview, Wi-fi.
Private double room, newly decorated, and tastefully furnished overlooking the rear of this delightful period Grade II listed home. Your have shared use of the dining room (wall mounted TV), bathroom with over bath mixer shower, kitchen with all modern appliances (microwave, dishwasher, Nutribullet blender, Tassimo coffee machine). Towels provided - hairdryer, iron, ironing board also available by request. Please ask if there is anything else you need during your stay and I will try to accommodate this. * Please note the downstairs is also shared with Nala, our house cat, who is rather timid at first but soon warms to strangers. * Unauthorised guests are not allowed.
My home is situated at the end of a cul de sac so there is no through traffic, making this a very quiet location considering the proximity to the town centre. There is free parking outside the property. Newark is host to the famous bi-monthly International Antiques and Collectors Fair, and annual music, jazz, blues, and food and beer festivals. Throughout July and August, you can spend a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to a local brass band on the traditional bandstand in the castle grounds. On a fine day, why not take full advantage of the many fine bars or independent cafes situated around the town and order refreshments alfresco.
  • Tanya’s place was perfect for my stay in Newark. The room was so lovely. Tastefully decorated, comfy bed and the house is quietly tucked down a small street so I slept really well. The house and common areas were also really beautiful and I was made to feel welcome and relaxed by Tanya who is really friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, really central. I could park outside and walk everywhere I needed to get to. I’m a regular airbnber and I have to say this is the nicest private room accom I have ever stayed in. WiFi connection was strong so I was able to do some work while I was there no problem. Well worth the money. I really recommend Tanya’s place and will definitely be back when I’m next in the area.

  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house and pub were both fantastic! Everything was exactly how it was described. The pub had excellent food and was a great place to hangout when we needed. Cabs and taxis were available upon call to take us to neighboring towns so no need to rent a car if that is a concern.

    Maggie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z

  • This was our third stay here, we keep coming back as the cottage is very comfortable, well equipped and dog friendly. Hospitality great from basics Inc bread, milk etc in the kitchen to hot water bottles in the bedrooms. We cooked a meal and then ordered puddings from the pub which they kindly brought over.. I can recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the crumble!

  • We had a truly peaceful stay at Roddy’s gorgeous home!!! Though we arrived late, he greeted us and helped us park and invited us in. We could have enjoyed spending time in his beautiful living room but we opted to sleep because of our early morning schedule. He had water and fruit at our bedside. The rooms were immaculate and cosy. We slept well. The next morning he offered us tea or coffee but we were dashing out the door. I would most highly recommend Roddy’s place for a delightful and very safe place to spend the night!

  • What a gem! Beautifully clean and comfortable room with bathroom in a lovely home. We felt like we had a private wing and had plenty of peace and quiet, with views over hills. Roddy was a fantastic host with little touches of hospitality. It's the perfect stop off the A1 and broke up our long journey leaving us feeling refreshed and restored after a great night's sleep. There's a fab coffee shop in the next village too for breakfast in the morning. Thanks so much Roddy, one of the best Airbnb stays we have had.

A fully-insulated warm cosy pine cabin with its own brick-built small galley kitchen and washroom with shower and toilet. Whilst the Cabin is compact, guests have been surprised at the generous space within. Surrounded by garden and woodland leading to parkland or field paths, so ideal for dog walking. You have the freedom of self catering but let us know if you would like bread and milk left in your fridge.
The Cabin is 3.1m x 2.7m with windows on 3 sides looking out on to the garden and adjacent woodland. There is a gate directly from the garden into the wood and there are woodland paths winding through the trees for walking. The whole of one wall of the Cabin can be opened up on to the garden during the warmer weather. All windows are double glazed and both the Cabin and attached kitchen and washroom can be kept toastie warm. A 3ft single bed with another 3ft single bed under which pulls out on wheels very easily and becomes the same height as the other. Both have fully upholstered mattresses , very comfortable, and they can be pushed together or left as two beds. With both beds up, whether together or as two singles, space is limited but enough room to move around. A television and DVD player, a table and two chairs complete the cabin space which is heated by three radiators. There is ample hot water at all times. The tiny galley kitchen has kettle, toaster, hot plate, microwave, small oven/grill, fridge and washing machine, plus all crockery and cutlery. The washroom contains an enclosed shower cubicle with a glass door and washbasin with separate toilet, a chest of drawers for clothes with bottom drawer which holds blankets. Towels and bedlinen are provided.
We are in a rural location and there are walks along the River Trent a short drive away, and many giving wonderful views over the Vale of Belvoir. Newark-on-Trent is 6 miles away with 2 train stations giving easy access to Nottingham or Lincoln, supermarkets, a lovely ruined castle, museums, theatre, cinema and a huge selection of places to eat. The "Fosseway Flier" bus service between Nottingham and Newark calls into our village on its way to each of those towns!! It is a 4 minute walk to the bus stop.
  • Elisabeth and David’s place is exactly what we were looking for, and even better than expected. We were looking for an affordable and quiet place to spend 3 days with our dogs.
