Ruth and I just got home from a wonderful week with Anny and Wendell on the "Quiet Side" of Mt Desert Island. Anny's Place is just a couple of miles from either Bass Harbor, or Southwest Harbor. Their home is immaculate and comfortable. They made us right at home, with occasional wine or muffins. There was even a Jacuzzi tub and a heating pad when I threw my back out! Apart from opening their home to us, Anny and Wendell were great sources of local color and knowledge. We had no problem at all with the neighbors, pets, or noise of any kind. We will definitely choose Anny's Place when returning to MDI.

The house is very nice. There are good restaurants 5min away by car, and it is located on the quiet side of the island. Anny promptly showed me the best places to visit around, and all went good.

Loved Anny's hospitality. She also gave the best tips for seeing Mount Desert Island that we would never have found on our own. She offered us some breakfast pastries and juice on her own accord. Very friendly and cool pets.

Very welcome

Ann was a lovely hostess who even allowed us the opportunity right away to enjoy a steam shower in her BEAUTIFUL bathroom. She went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable. The room was nice, clean, and private. We had a nice stay!

Room was exactly as shown on the photo. Anny gave us a very warm welcome, helped us find a nice restaurant for dinner, prepared coffee in the morning and pointed us to great spots in Acadia to explore.

Anny Was amazing. Very warm home and provided helpful information. Made accommodations for us to be comfortable. Sweet pets.

Anny was a great hostess and very thorough in showing us her island. It was a very pleasant stay despite the less than ideal weather. We did not get to see as much as we'd like due to the rain but we are definitely planning out next trip back and hopefully "our" room is still available then.

We had a great time at Julie's Little House on Seawall! This was our first visit to Maine and the accommodations were just what we were looking for. The neighborhood was quiet yet the national park hikes we did were not far away. We enjoyed cooking fresh seafood for ourselves in the well equipped kitchen. The juice and coffee were appreciated on our first morning, as we got in quite late at night and stores were closed. The binder of information that Julie provided on area attractions was helpful, especially the detailed hiking guide! Our only regret is that our vacation went by too quickly! Thank you Julie for providing a perfect place to stay.

We met Julie on our final day as we were preparing to leave her delightful house. She was a great host in that she stayed right on top of our communications and had absolutely everything prepared for our arrival, including basic provisions (in the refrigerator) for the next morning's breakfast. The house is on the "quiet" side of Acadia National Park, but it was an easy drive to anywhere on the island...and there are maps/signage everywhere. The road on which Julie's house sits was a bit busy during the day, but quiet at night. This lack of headlights helped in viewing the beautiful star-filled sky! We would not hesitate to return. Thank you, Julie.

Not quiet. The cottage is cute, well appointed, super clean, and accurately portrayed in the pictures. It is situated right on Seawall, which is a busy street in the summer. I had asked the host if I should be concerned about noise and she said she hadn't had any complaints. It's true that even the most recent reviews don't mention the cars that go by steadily during the day. The nights were quiet, which was appreciated.

The fully appointed kitchen was a real treat as was the calming, spa-like atmosphere that Julie created. Julie's house was an excellent home base for exploring Acadia. We loved staying on the "quiet side of the island" far away from the crowds of Bar Harbor. Incredible hiking trails, two great lobster pounds, and multiple scenic shore walks are all a quick drive from her cottage. The kitchen was well appointed and we really appreciated the welcoming gift of fruit, juice, and coffee. In short, Julie's house is the perfect home base for exploring Acadia and the island.

Julie's little house is perfect for an outdoorsy stay in Acadia National Park. Cozy and nicely decorated with plenty of space for 3 or 4. Worry not, her listing is very accurate!

Julie spared no detail in making us feel super welcome and at home in her Little House- this was the perfect romantic retreat for us! The Little House is immaculately clean, and the location is fantastic. We love to cook and grill, and Julie has provided a terrific grill and tools for it, and after visiting Beech Hill Farm for amazing organic produce and dairy, we would meet Ray the Fishman (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays he parks a truck loaded with coolers on 102 just East of Seawall...) and make some amazing food! Julie even provided a little cooler for us for a day out on the water. Communication with Julie was always easy and quick, and when she couldn't be there she had Tom taking care of the Little House and checking in on our needs (thanks, Tom!) Southwest Harbor and "the quiet side of the island" is where it's at for MDI- so many great little finds- trails right off the road at Acadia Mountain/Echo Lake are perfect light hikes, Thurston's Lobster Pound is one of the best spots on the whole island! We can't wait for our next trip to Southwest Harbor and Julie's Little House!

Very cute cottage with nice amenities including an easy to use grill and information about Acadia national park. Shower/bath was very nice.

Deborah's carriage house is beautiful and the perfect size for two people looking to spend some time in Acadia. The kitchen is well-stocked with cooking tools, and we had everything we needed to do all of our cooking. Deborah was prompt with responses, and kindly left plenty of guides and pamphlets on the area for guests' use. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Ryan and Keri are the most wonderful hosts and they brought us a wine to kick off our stay. The house is beautifully decorated and is located in great neighborhood close to several the best Pier lobster restaurants and places that deserve to visit. Everything is clean and neat. Our family had a great stay in Acadia and will definitely recommended to friends and come back some day. Thanks for this perfect experience!

It was such a gemstone for us to find this house. Ryan and Keri are living every one's dream life. The house was well equipped with everything. They are very considerate hosts and got everything we need prepared. The bathroom was such a surprise. Literally the best ever. They are really the artists of life! Definitely would recommend!

We had a really lovely stay at Ryan & Keri's home. We were in town for a long weekend to celebrate a friend's wedding and could not have had a more convenient place to stay. The house was cozy and easy to settle into - we loved sitting on the porch with coffee, relaxing on the swing out back and gathering in the living room listening to the extensive vinyl collection. The whole experience was very peaceful and restful. Keri was super helpful during our stay when we had questions.

Loved the location, the piano, records, fire pit and yard for bocce! Ryan was great - we didn't have any issues but he reached out a couple of times to check in.

Keri and Ryan made us feel very welcome. Keri greeted us when we arrived and presented us with a welcome "package". Our dog Ellie liked the house immediately and felt very comfortable (she is good barometer). Their house was very clean, nicely decorated and was perfectly located within walking distance to the town dock and Southwest Harbor. My husband's favorite hightlight of the house was the sound system and all of his favorite LP's (from the "old days", as our children say). We enjoyed restaurants and music in town, as well as exploring Acadia National Park (they kindly left a map for our use). They definitely went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

We had a great time at the Artist's Home. There were four adults, including one granny, and two kids (four and seven). Ryan met us when we arrived (though we were late), and we really had no issues during our stay. The house itself is very tastefully done. There is a turntable and LPs! (We annoyed the youngest adult by playing lots of "hippie" music, though there is plenty of musical variety to choose from). The house was clean; the water was hot; the dishwasher worked fine. It is near the sights of the Quietside. A quick trip takes to Wonderland (2 miles away) which is beautiful! We also biked into town. If you expect a place on the beach, this isn't it! It is on the "major" road which is only busy in the morning and late afternoon, and very quiet at night. There is also only one bath (upstairs) just so you know... We would recommend it highly.

Great hosts

The best part of our honeymoon was staying here at the Quietside Treetop Retreat. Upon arrival, Nola and Wayne greeted us with a welcoming smile and friendly tone of voice. Right away, I knew this was going to be a great stay. They took us up to where we were staying, showed us around the place, guided us through maps, points of interests, restaurant recommendations, and answered all the questions we had to make our time in Acadia National Park the best. To put the icing on the cake, they made our honeymoon even more special by leaving us a couple gifts to help celebrate which was super thoughtful and kind of them. Along with the gifts, they were hospitable in making us feel like we were staying at a five star bed and breakfast, having freshly folded towels, a toiletry basket in case we forgot something, and an extremely clean, beautifully decorated, and warming environment for us to stay in. Throughout our stay, Wayne and Nola were available to us to answer any questions to make our trip the best it can be. If you are traveling to Acadia NP, I most definitely recommend staying here. You will not regret it. Thank you to Nola and Wayne for such a special time. From one hospitality professional to another, you over wowed me in your hospitality.

Nola and Wayne greeted us as soon as we arrived. They did an incredible job creating a space of convenience and comfort for guests. They had toiletries in case we forgot any, saving us a trip into "town". We intentionally came in the off season to escape the day to day buzz of NYC. It was perfect having our coffee on the porch and being about 20-30 minutes from Bar Harbor, the Loop/major hiking trails was great. This truly is the quietside of MDI. They had a list of local businesses we can check out based on what we were looking for and we were glad they listed Joey's on there. Perfect local spot with a little NYC/NJ flare to grab a drink at. About a 5 minute drive. Nola and Wayne answered any questions we had and brought us over some lobster crackers from their home after picking up a fresh boiled lobster from Peekytoe Provisions. Coming out of season, a lot of businesses were closed - keep that in mind for any trips from November-Memorial Day Weekend time frame. We hope to return in the fall or springtime to get in some more hiking and tranquility. Side note: if you have Verizon, cell service is extremely limited.

This was a get away for my wife and I for a few days and we planned on exploring MDI by car, foot, etc. The location was central to MDI, close to Southwest Harbor, and very quiet so it worked great for us. Wayne and Nola were great hosts and we really enjoyed them. It started with great communication from the time of booking, a great greeting and explanation when we arrived, willingness to help as needed (or leave us alone), and then there to see us off on the last day. I went back and read the description in the Airbnb listing after staying there and it is extremely accurate. Thank you Wayne and Nola.

We had a lovely stay at the Quietside Treetop Retreat. Wayne and Nola really made every effort possible to make our stay agreeable and make us feel welcome. I would like to mention for instance the fresh muffins cooked for us, the travel-size toiletries available in the bathroom if needed, the exhaustive maps and brochures given to us about the area, some nicely made memos about house rules or just the way every switch in the house is labelled so that it is easier to use. Communication with Wayne and Nola was always very fast and efficient. Last and not least I want to mention that the place is VERY EXTREMELY CLEAN. Overall a very excellent and quiet (as described) stay. There are plenty of lovely trails, restaurants, shops, bakeries, just a few minutes from the house.

Quietside Treetop Retreat is the perfect name for this place! Wayne and Nola were great from the beginning - I was road tripping and not sure where I would be when so I booked the morning of and they were quick to respond and let me know they could accommodate me. From there I had consistent communication throughout the day to ensure they were there when I showed up. Although it was late, they both greeted me with a smile and showed me around the place. This place was perfect and absolutely what I needed. It felt like home and the bath was exactly what I needed after my kayak adventure earlier on in the day. The place was incredibly clean and the bed was so comfortable - I slept like a baby! The next morning I got to eat the fresh blueberry muffins Nola left for me(they are amazing - and kept me fed the remainder of the day on my travels down south). Wayne was available to help me map out some stops in Acadia before I left town and made sure I knew exactly where to hit and what I couldn't miss. Although it was a short stay for me, I couldn't have had a better experience. The thing that stood out the most to me was the hospitality of these hosts and the thoughtful approach they have in all the details throughout this apartment and the stay. This place was a blessing to me and I would stay again in a heartbeat!

We had such a great time on our trip to Acadia and the treetop retreat was absolutely perfect. Nola and Whayne were extremely accommodating and provided us some local tips and maps. They can be involved as little or as much as you prefer. The quality of the apartment and furniture is great, honestly the pictures don't do it justice. Kitchen and bathroom have everything you would need or may have forgotten. We would stay here again in the future and highly recommend it to others. And yes the muffins are that great!

Mount Desert Island was undoubtedly the highlight of our road trip holiday in New England. The sunrise and sunset from Cadillac Mountain is truly magical. We appreciated being on the quiet side too in Southwest Harbour. The suite we stayed in was very well equipped and clean. Communication with Marty was straightforward and relaxed, a very trusting host. Thank you.

Comfy cozy, clean and quiet inn. Great location in the town, walk to great restaurants and coffee shops as well as sawyers market & wine shop and a small pharmacy. So nice and quiet during the winter... easy drive to Acadia national park, bar harbor, winter harbor etc.

The listing was very accurately depicted, and was extremely comfortable. We were very pleased with our stay at the Dry Dock Inn. Marty left information for us upon our arrival, and the check out process was very smooth as well.

We loved our stay here! The Cadillac suite had everything we needed and more for our 4 night stay in Southwest Harbor. The kitchen was our favorite amenity because we were able to make breakfast and pack a lunch for our Acadia adventures each day (and saved a little money doing so!) There are a few great shops and restaurants in town, without all the noise and traffic of bar harbor. It took us about 25 to drive into bar harbor and park loop road, and there were so many great hiking trails to explore in this side of the park! As a side note: remember this is an inn above a popular restaurant in town, so there is a bit of noise downstairs until the restaurant closes for the night. All in all a great value and we would 100% stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

Clean and easy to fjnd, lacking on uniqueness or character though.

The Spruce cottage has responded very well to our expectations viewpoints. Clean, spacious and warm, it has allowed us to explore the region of Southwest Harbor bicycle and hiking in the mountains as well as the Acadia Park in the same way. We have met Andy the night before we left, but we were very well served remotely before. A likely next visit will certainly allow us to get to know. Jennie and Andy thank you. Jennie and Andy were fantastic and gracious hosts. The Spruce Cottage was everything we hoped for and more! The location is very quiet and private, not at all like the bustling over-run Bar Harbor area. The small town is nearby (5 minute drive), and there are lots of options for eating out (without the hassle of the Bar Harbor restaurant scene). The area sights are more low-key but just as spectacular. The cottage itself is so relaxing and perfect. All the creature-comforts of a getaway house in the countryside, with a quaint old-school feel but without any griminess. Super-clean, super-comfortable, and bucolic. Everything from the bed linens, the bathroom, the kitchen, floors, sofas (should I go on?) were impeccable and tidy. Plus, you step outside to a pond with a waterfall, a deck, the grill all at arms reach (even with a tiny model lighthouse). There's no air-conditioning, but you don't need it! Who knew? We were actually there on the hottest day of the year (a boiling 90 degrees) but the house stayed perfectly comfortable with no humidity. I think the surrounding trees and the sea breeze keep everything ultra-comfortable and the temperatures steady. When we come back to Acadia, this is the place we want to stay next time. Can't imagine a better place to be.

This was a fabulous cottage - a very relaxing retreat complete with a duck and her ducklings by the pond just nearby. Everything needed was thoughtfully on hand - including picnic ware. The hosts were EXTREMELY helpful! We left a bag in the cottage and they went to considerable trouble to help solve our problem and ship it to us in Boston. This was my only my second experience of airbnb and I am impressed! The special effort that Andy put in to returning our bag was exceptional. I strongly recommend this cottage and these hosts - a special place hosted by special people.

My family and I booked Jennie and Andy's property for a few days to explore Acadia National Park and we could not be more satisfied! The cottage is beautiful and the surroundings are as well. The private driveway is one of my favorite parts! The cottage is well supplied and very clean, including a very cute patio area with a picnic table.

Pure delight in the woods, just as described. Lovely, solidly built cottage, easy to find and warmly welcomed. Excellent communication from our hosts. Big sleeping rooms, bigger common room, perfect retreat from a day hiking, as well as shelter from the storm (we were there for the back part of a hurricane). We are so pleased to have found the Spruce Cottage on the "quiet side" of the Island to serve as our home base to treat our young daughters to what Mt. Desert has to offer.

Andy and Jennie were great hosts, quickly answering questions about the property but also giving us our privacy. We had a great time at the cottage, which is exactly as described. The cottage itself has so much charm, and is full of comfy furniture and blankets to spare. The kitchen is well-appointed; we had all the things we needed for cooking. There's a binder full of info on local businesses and things to do as well as some notes on the cottage itself. Also a nice touch: a Little Free Library just a few feet away! The area itself is picturesque and quiet, a refreshing respite from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor.

The cottage was better than described! We had a wonderfully peaceful and comfortable stay for four nights in the heart of the Fall. The place is beyond clean. The kitchen was well supplied with all the equipment anyone would need. The bathroom had amenities we don't have at home! And the king bed in one of the bedrooms is one of our requirements, rarely offered through Airbnb. All instructions were clear and written out. (I can see our son and his wife and grandson coming up here for respite…I'll recommend!)

Tom greeted us and showed us around. It was a very nice space convenient to the coast, and we made the most of the days touring followed by a comfortable sleep. I recommend this spot to other travellers.

Anne made us feel very welcome! She had a notebook full of information ready for us and in addition she had a quart of Maine blueberries in the frig for us! She had all the extras you don't find in most rentals. There were plenty of shower towels, a few beach towels, sheets and pillowcases, plus there were tablecloths, placemats and every kitchen gadget you could ever ask for. The quality of everything was fantastic. The listing was extremely accurate and the neighborhood was great!

The stay at Anne's cottage was quiet, secluded and relaxing. The house was very clean and felt like home away from home. The back yard provided entertainment with deer running around through out the day. There are variety of activities within minutes on either direction.

The house looks very nice and clean. It had everything we need and all the equipments are new. We need to drive about half an hour to the entrance of Acadia, but it's alright. The view of the sea and the bass harbor light house nearby is as beautiful as bar harbor dock. And the response from Anne is very fast. I'm pretty satisfied with this staying experience.

It is a five star cottage. Would definitely recommend it! The house is fully equipped and is located in a very beautiful area. A very relaxing experience.

My stay at at Anne's Southwest Harbor was wonderful! This is the first time I've rented a home for vacation, I've always stayed in hotels, inns, etc. I loved it. The place was comfortable, clean and spacious. I really appreciated having laundry on site also. We did a lot of hiking & cycling around Acadia. Also, enjoy a walk or run to the waterfront, and walking the trails in the area by the ocean. Anne provides a plethora of information about the surrounding area, and also things to do. I rented a bike from Southwest Cycle. Great experience with them. A runner & cycling friend joined me for a couple of days and we cycled & hiked Acadia National Park. We 'lunched' outside at The Jordan House. I highly recommend this restaurant! It was wonderful to take in the beauty of Jordan Pond while enjoying our meal. My daughter & her husband then joined me for a few days to also hike the surrounding area mountains, and spent an evening in Bar Harbor. We also enjoyed a local restaurant Sips Cafe. Excellent. Every person that stayed was delighted with the house and area. Please do stay at this wonderful home away from home. Hike, cycle, shop, kayak or enjoy many other activities, then come home to relax on living room the couch, or outside on the adirondack chairs, with a cup of tea or glass of wine. Anne is a gracious host!

We cannot wait to return, and when we do, we hope to stay here. Acadia enchanted us, and Southwest Harbor was the perfect base. The stores and restaurants were very nice, the shop owners extremely kind. Anna's house is on a quiet street about 5 minutes removed from town. You can see the water across the road, from the kitchen where we ate breakfast. The home is spacious and very comfortable. The motif is nautical but understated. The kitchen is quite well appointed. The tv screen is immense and as the presidential debates were airing, we appreciated it. The weather was all over in October, and the house heated up and cooled well. We arrived quite late and Anna thoughtfully had purchased some breakfast items for us to have on hand so we wouldn't have to drive back into town the following morning. She had recommendations for the area and was quick to respond to any queries. Highly recommended.

It was absolutely spotless! Location was great for hiking around Ship Harbor and Wonderwall. Really pretty part of the island and Bar Harbor was only about 30 mins away. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was very well stocked.

I sent my parents here on an anniversary weekend trip. They absolutely loved it! They said the apartment was beautiful, spacious and comfortable and had everything they needed. They (and I) highly recommend Jeff and Bett's place :)

The Up-See-Daisy Suite is perfect for travelers wanting to be close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Four of us slept comfortably between the bedroom and futon, and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we needed to cook all of our meals at home. We woke up early one morning to catch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain and found beautiful hiking trails all throughout the park. We even walked down the street to a cove and saw otters in their wild habitat! I would definitely recommend Jeff and Bett's place, and I plan to return myself someday.

This place was fantastic! What a treat being in the backyard of Acadia. Big and clean apartment with an extremely comfortable bed. Hosts were very prompt to reply and gave clear instructions. Highly recommend, we would definitely stay again if visiting Acadia.

Jeff and Bett were wonderful hosts! Bett was absolutely charming and extremely gracious. The apartment was exactly as depicted. It was clean, comfortable, and felt like home! We appreciated the well-stocked kitchen (although we did not use it because we were there for a short period of time) and the toiletries and other thoughtful touches. The map and pamphlets were also a nice touch and provided a good orientation to the area. The futon was very comfortable for a futon and I appreciated that it even had a mattress pad on it! I look forward to staying there again one day, on a longer trip, where I can utilize all of the insider information Bett provided. Thank you so much!

Really enjoy our visit to Mount Desert Island and Acadia park: so much things to do!! Carol was a perfect host. She gave us many tips on what to do (it was raining on one morning and we did'nt prepare for that) Everything was very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Perfect to start a day of hiking! Carol even made muffins for us with her own rhubarb! Thanks Carol!

Carol is definitely the most energetic and nice and thoughtful lady I ever met. I expected one room while Carol provided a separate bedroom,a separate living room,and a separate bathroom which are all clean and spacious. And she also provided us delicious breakfast at her lovely kitchen. She also respects our privacy. We can't drive so Carol not only pick up us at the airport and also drive us back to Bangor bus terminal which really helps us a lot. She is also a very good tour guide and knows everything about the island. She drives us to the most famous spot on the island even the top of Cadillac mountain where shows us the most beautiful full view of the island. She also take time to teach us Golf and take us to see the lovely park and taste delicious lobster. We really had a nice stay with Carol and I will definitely recommend her as your first choice.

We had a great stay with Carol, who is a very good host. The attention to detail was immaculate, and we really appreciated all the little things she'd done to ensure we were comfortable. We had our own little private space (bathroom, bedroom and living room), with everything very clean. The bed was one of the best we have ever slept in! Carol made us amazing breakfasts worthy of any traditional BnB, complete with homemade muffins! The location is also a great base from which to visit Acadia, away from the tourist traps of Bar Harbor, but with all the island highlights easily accessible. Southwest Habour is a charming little town with some really good restaurants - Carol can advise!

We had a very enjoyable stay at Carol Nelson's home. She contacted us in advance of our trip to welcome us and provide directions, including how to avoid some road construction near her home. When we arrived, she showed us to our accommodations, hosted us with wine and hors d'oeuvres, helped orient us to Mount Desert Island, and gave us good recommendations for restaurants and things to see and do. Our bedroom was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was right across the hall. Carol also provided us with Wi-Fi access for our laptop, which was very helpful. We had a delicious breakfast of bagels, muffins, and fruit the next morning, and Carol even gave us some fruit to take on our trip. We stayed with Carol only the one night, but we enjoyed our stay and would recommend her home to others.

We loved our stay with Carol. The bed was great and the room was quite roomy. Carol was a big help with finding the hidden local places to explore as she shared her favorite spots with us. Great value. The only disappointment we experienced at all was that the sunroom and the deck were unavailable for use. However we often had the living room all to ourselves at the end of a full day of exploring and that was much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

There is nothing negative to report about our stay. Carol was most welcoming and charming, and an interesting conversationalist too. The space was roomy, and was sparkling clean and comfortable. It was like staying in a long time friend's home with all the welcoming elements. The bed was fabulous, and the bathroom and shower excellent. The house is in a wonderful SW Harbor location, and we highly recommend Carol and her lovely home for your stay in the area. We shall return.

Carol's place was perfect for exploring Acadia and MDI. We had a ton of private space and the bed was heavenly! Carol helped us pick out our activities and was full of wonderful suggestions.
