A big plus for the attention paid to cleanliness, comfort materials (comfortable bedding, linens and neat available, well insulated and quiet ...) as well as small everyday items (dishes, commodities , bathroom accessories, games ...). To our surprise, we even found flutes for the evening's Eve and the traditional glass of champagne. It's simple: there is absolutely nothing missing. Everything was consistent with the description, the place is quiet, relaxing, and the side view room is really exceptional ... Bernadette is very welcoming and we were well arranged for a Modified dates for the stay. Five stars! What a wonderful find! Amazing, peaceful, gorgeous Castle in the countryside and close to artist villages, the volcanoes, and endless restaurants including 2 Michelin starred Top Chef restaurants. Laurence and her family are warm, open, and welcoming with great information about the area. They have owned this Castle / B&B for 15 years, and it shows. We loved it!

The communication with Laurence was smooth. We had a little difficulty to find there at night. The castle is very nice and the breakfast croissants and baguette were delicious! Very nice stay.

A stunning building with lots of original fittings and features. Lovely Laurence gave us a great welcome and looked after us very well. We could have spent more time exploring the area and sampling restaurants but sadly we were at the end of our holiday and on the way home driving to Scotland! The place is a total gem, and amazing value for money.

We were fortunate to find the lovely Chateau de la Vernède. It was situated perfectly near Issoire on the route we took from Paris to the Chateau Chavaniac-Lafayette (Americans think very highly of M. Lafayette). Laurence and her family have a beautiful home, decorated with treasures they have collected and numerous exquisite orchids. It was very hot when we arrived but our "mill room" had a fan, a huge window, and a nice breeze. We slept very well in lovely linens and a comfortable bed. There are other larger rooms, including a suite with twin beds - all beautifully decorated in antiques that perfectly complement the house. Breakfast was delicious and was served at the dining room window overlooking the large front garden. We enjoyed visiting with our hosts, exploring the Auvergne villages of Issoire (there are many restaurants nearby) and Usson (a picturesque hill top village) and we have nothing but praise for the warm welcome we received. Laurence and her family were amazing hosts. Always available, always thinking ahead of us in suggesting what to do and where to eat. Our stay felt like a real blissful moment. Tried some very small local restaurants, walked in the mountains, canoed in the valleys and enjoyed every morning our croissants, coffees and home made jams in the dining room overlooking the park. The castle's atmosphere transports you back in time. A trully amazing experience.

If you're looking for the most incredible French country home in a beautiful location then you have to book this gite! From the moment we arrived we knew that this was the perfect retreat from a long stay in Paris. The home is modern, luxurious, and allows for the optimal amount of privacy for two couples. There was even a fantastic surprise (power blinds!). The pictures do not do this location justice. It is gorgeous! We spent most of our day outside in the sun with a nice glass of wine on one of the three lovely patios. I can't emphasize enough how incredible this location is. We have had a great week in the gite (4 persons). The building is charming, the large garden has a beautiful view and the pool is excellent. For most of the week, the 2nd gite wasn't rented out so we had the garden and pool for ourselves. Communication with Chris went very well and the arrival went smoothly. We would definitely recommend this place if you want to discover the Auvergne.

The house is in a very pretty village, peaceful, and very nice neighbors. View of the beautiful garden. By cons price a little expensive compared to the comforts of home. (Deco rather rustic). It is unfortunate to have to share the space garden / barbecue / pool with the tenants of the second house (the house is split into 2). Allentours the scenery is beautiful! Against a little away from the volcano (1 hour drive). We spent a great vacation in this corner of greenery and calm :-).

Indeed, we are just two student foreign, without a car. We have not even a travel plan. Nevertheless, we spent a frankly superb stay at Laurence. Laurence helps us a lot. It transports us herself by her car for each visit to this region and we offer pretty villages to visit, inns and restaurants quite frankly whose prices are soft. For the room, it's exactly like what the pictures showed. So never miss this nice castle whose host, Laurence is even nicer, welcoming and professional. I'll return to this castle one day!

We were at Sara's home just one night in our way to the north, hope we could've stayed longer! They lodged us in a brand new apartment totally independent from the house and with a little private garden. The space is really nice, and they are too. The house is in the middle of the countryside so there's no sound but the burds and have wonderful views. They also gave us a charming welcome after our 6h drive from Barcelona. We had a great time in Usson, and also a delicious breakfast!!

We spent 10 days in the house of Christian with our two daughters. Everything was perfect : The first host and his wife, who were very friendly, very engaging, even considerate, and that was very helpful when needed, while being discreet and respecting our privacy. Home: we were the first to rent. It's even better than the description that Christian made on the site. Very large, very well done again (ask Christian to show you the pictures of the house before work), and better equipped than our own house. It's simple, nothing is missing, everything is planned as if you were living in the year, even for ten people (there's even a printer with quality beer and barbecue is what it is better). All necessities are also present on arrival, coffee in the first aid kit, through the oil, salt, sugar, tea ... actually more than just necessities . For children, there are a lot of games and toys in the corner of the children, but also a beautiful game of chess. The neighborhood is very quiet, and the village is very close to Issoire (10 minutes to go to the mall, which is very significant). For the rest, consistent with the description of the site, but often better. Good base for exploring the Auvergne, not all sites are within an hour Max). In short, perfect, perfect home. We had our best experience ever with airbnb at this wonderful place. Great food, beautiful surroundings and a great stay in the room "Nepal". Also, the hosts are so nice and welcoming and all their animals made our kids very happy. We are so happy and inspired after this stay and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. But we will come back for sure!

Beautiful place, very friendly atmosphere. Astrid and Walter are very communicable people as they speak multi languages. The common dinner table created a unique family-kind environment. Also we would like to mention beautiful cuisine with lovely home-made dishes which hosts cooked themselves. Our children seems fallen in love with Astrid and Walter and followed them everywhere. Especially they liked to feed baby animals. The hosts kindly helped us to plan our day out and advised the places around to visit. Superb location almost on top of volcano with phantastic views from outside. Good breakfast and tasty, sumptuous dinners with local organic ingredients. Zebra room is a nice, tiny room with roof window. The whole place is truely great for children! Astrid and Walter are very nice hosts with lots of attention to their guestst.

B & B in a very quiet, panoramic and off the beaten track, with a bid by all organic products and ethnic food. Too bad that the room was a little 'small but otherwise a good experience to be repeated if you want a weekend in contact with nature.

I can't say enough about this place. It was beyond amazing. I was expecting a weekend away and got a magical two day oasis. As soon as we arrived, Astrid had prepared a wonderful family style dinner with the other guest. It was delicious. She also prepared our other meals which are all organic, locally sourced and hand made. We also tried the Russian Sauna which was incredible! Astrid and her family hand built the sauna and it is spectacular! She prepared traditional Russian Zakuski and detox tea. One of the best experiences I've ever had. If you make it here you have to do the Sauna. It would be a sin not to!

We loved the atmosphere of this hostel. There are many farm animals: goats, peacock, chickens, sheep, donkey, goose, rooster ... And we even had a chance to see a baby goat born the night of our stay. The welcome was warm, always smiling and Astrid is very good advice for activities around. Thank you for booking ziplining, it was great, the views of the magnificent volcanoes. A very good address.

A real escape - this place is great for a real escape - it has no mobile phone signal, and there is no internet and therefore you are forced to have a real break from work! Just come back from a week there - lovely countryside, lots to do, amazing scenery and fresh mountain air. Murielle is really helpful - she came and found us after we couldn't find the gite in the dark ( the signs are placed back off the road and aren't picked out by car headlights - for reference the as you leave Sauxillanges you go approx 6.9 km on the Condat road and as the road bears round to the left there is a small turning that almost doubles back on the main road and looks like the driveway of the house next to the road - it's not - it's is actually the road you need - lieu dit chantagrele - follow this as it winds through the forest for about 1km you then come to a crossroad - go straight over and follow the road for about 500m and you find the hamlet where the cottage is) Murielle gave us a tour of the cottage before she left. The cottage was clean and warm. Underfloor hearing for the ground floor meant the cottage was cosy, it's got a comfy sofa, a tv / DVD player, a record player, a cd and tape deck and a good selection of games. The kitchen was well equipped. Although Murielle is not on site, she is easily available - there is a landline to phone her. We only had to do this once when the heating failed ( it just needed the pilot light relighting / resetting and Murielle gave us clear instructions - problem solved in 15 mins) In conclusion - fantastic cosy escape in the middle of nowhere with no way for the office to contact you, no emails and no (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) etc! A proper relaxing holiday. Cottage was simple, but it had all the essentials. Murielle was a helpful host. Recommend +++

A peaceful stop of one night in beautiful surroundings with a warm welcome by Laurence’s father. The room was as comfortable as it was lovely, and we especially liked strolling around the grounds which boast a huge sequoia tree in front, for which this room is named. Charming service accompanied the excellent continental breakfast next morning. We were pleased that we discovered this special place.

The house is located in a hamlet, we apreciated the calm and beautiful scenery. It is a house renovation that has charm. It is well equipped, the garden is welcome for children, meals outside.The contact Vincent at the end of the stay was very warm. There are many games on site and documentation is aprciable. Newly renovated house. Very well equipped with a perfect finish. The rooms are nice and spacious, baby equipment are also numerous. The bedding is of excellent quality. Only "small" finding is the low light in the room but electric lighting is many. A small barbecue available would have been nice.

We had a wonderful time ni elaine's gite: the gîte is very nice and convenient, and the kids really enjoyed the pool! Elaine and Richard are very welcoming and helpful for any question. Auvergne is a wonderful place to discover for vacations, and we warmly recommend this gîte for such holidays.

Personally it has allowed us to review :) In terms of location, the cottage is quite isolated in the open park area Livradois Drill. Ideal for a quiet stay, provided they agree to be cut off from the outside world: the area is very poorly covered by mobile networks (white area) and Wi-Fi available for guests is sometimes temperamental!

Elaine and Richard's hire exceeded our expectations - especially its location. Peaceful, beautiful and a wealth of walking routes literally on your doorstep. Communicating with Elaine about our stay was so easy, and she and Richard make the ideal hosts ... welcoming, helpful and happy to any answer questions about the area. The gite itself was simply delightful - clean, well-equipped, and decorated and furnished in such a way as to compliment the age of the building while also making it feel homely and very comfortable. While my husband made a few trips to Sauxillanges or Issoire for provisions, I only got in the car and left area around the gite on our last full day, in order to take the dog to a vet in Issoire for his UK re-entry treatment (an appointment which Elaine so kindly made for me). You really do unwind and relax in your surroundings. If you're looking for 'party central' don't come here, but if you want a stunning setting, fantastic local produce, some down time to read, and fantastic location for walking with or without a dog ... well this is the place for you!!! We had a wonderful stay with Elaine. We were 3 couples with children <2 years and we were delighted with the welcome. Accommodation is cozy and warm, there is essentially feel at home. The super quiet family environment with many walks and hikes to do, perfect for extracting a bit of hustle and bustle. The kids loved the animals nearby and everyone has been able to rest. We had a great time with Elaine and Richard, delightful hosts who are always there to inform us and help us while being discreet. The village and the house are beautiful, the landscape in grand surroundings! There is a small pool ideal for children (depth ~ 1m). Also a good place to learn to do without the Internet (white area not always well covered by the network "contact" in 2G and WiFi owners is limited flow). An address to recommend without reservation.
