Places to stay in Newtown Saint Boswells
The Tower rooms are in a refurbished historic defensive tower (dating from 1574) providing a mini castle experience. Through a huge stone entrance, into an inner panelled entrance hall and through a private door up an ancient and narrow staircase to a tiny sitting area with shower room and kitchenette off. Finally up again with a spiral stone staircase leading to a romantic and secluded upper chamber. Medieval and bijoux - a micro experience of being a Laird or Lady of the House for the night.
We are based by the River Leader (also known as the Leader Water) in an exceptionally beautiful part of the Scottish Borders. The locale is littered with monuments, fine walks, stately homes, lovely shopping towns like Melrose and St. Boswells, hills to walk up and beautiful scenery. All this within an hours journey to Edinburgh by car or by train.

Recently renovated about 2 years ago we class our house as very cosy comfortable and relaxing. We like to think our guests would experience that feeling too. We also have a second room for anyone wanting to book for bigger parties ( listed separately on airbnb).
Cosy comfortable sunny double room , tea and coffee supplied and shared bathroom (if other room occupied). Ideally situated for sight seeing, walkers, cyclists and people looking to fish the tweed. You can enjoy our stunning scenery. Easy access to the Eildon hills, and 2 mile walk to the beautiful town of Melrose . There you can visit the historic Abbey and enjoy lots of lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants and join The Southern Upland Way walk leading through lots of border towns. You can also join the St Cuthbarts way walk at the back of the house enjoying a lovely stroll along the river tweed. There is a bus stop situated across from our house with services to various different villages and towns and directly to Edinburgh. A short drive away in Tweedbank you will find the train station that travels to Edinburgh Waverly which takes about an hour also stopping at other destinations on the way.
Very quiet and relaxed village with beautiful scenery all around. Shop and local pub within 5 minutes walking distance.

  • Had a lovely relaxing stay at John & Amanda's place this weekend. The place was cosy, clean and relaxing - what more could you want. The homely touches throughout were lovely, as was the breakfast set up. As a student on placement at BGH, this being a 7 minute drive away was perfect. Thanks very much.

  • Lovely hideaway. Great instructions. A bit quirky and different but loved it. Clean and well furnished. Very comfy beds

    Colin2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very peaceful stay close to the amenities of st boswells and close to some great walks . The accommodation is exactly as described in the website and great value for money. Marianne was very welcoming and helpful. She provided some oatmilk (after I said I didn't drink much ordinary milk) and granola for breakfast as well as ordinary milk and tea bags. She checked if I was warm enough too as the weather was a tad windy wet and cold. Very good hostess.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Stables Bothy very much, Marianne and Chris were welcoming and helpful, the place was comfortable and clean and had a cosy feel. Definitely recommend!

  • Great location, comfy beds powerful shower, and as much heat as you need

    Elaine2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely little spot to stay! The stables Bothy was perfect for what we needed. The beds were SO comfy. We could have stayed there for weeks but alas, we only had one night. Easy check in and had everything we needed!

    Scott2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • The offering is a bit unusual in that it like a small apartment in a converted two story barn, with the kitchen, living area, toilet and stall shower downstairs and bedroom upstairs. It would not work for guests with mobility issues given the steep stairs, or for those who had to have a toilet and shower on the same level as the bedroom. But it worked fine for us and we really enjoyed our stay. Marianne is a great host and sent a detailed map on how to find her place (the GPS does not work for her address). I would highly recommend for travelers touring the area who want to have a bit more independence with access to kitchen facilities. It was well supplied with a fancy hot plate, various cooking pans, dishes, etc. The Borders are beautiful so it was a great spot for touring the area and visiting the abbeys.

School Cottage is located in the picturesque village of Gattonside, a 10 minute walk from the centre of the historic town of Melrose. Ideally situated for sight seeing, walkers, cyclists and people looking to fish the Tweed. You can enjoy the stunning scenery with access to the Eildon hills. A short drive away is Tweedbank where you will find the train station that travels to Edinburgh Waverley. The journey takes about an hour also stopping at other destinations on the way.
The cosy Cottage has an entrance hall which leads into the living room, kitchen and dining area. The living room has a wood burning stove, comfy sofa and tartan chair. The kitchen is well equipped with a dining table. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double the other single along with a recently renovated bathroom.
Gattonside has two award winning restaurants and Melrose several cafes, hotels, restaurants and shops.
  • The school cottage is a lovely space to relax for a few days. Anne has put a lot of thought into the house and as a result we had everything we needed. The house is warm, the bed is comfortable and there are plenty of towels, blankets, etc. It's only a short walk into Melrose and there are outstanding walks virtually on the doorstep. We often visit the area and would definitely stay here again if it's available, although I expect it will book up quickly.

    Elisa2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • School Cottage offers lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. For us, Melrose itself didn't offer a great deal as a town though it's a fab base for some great walks. We did enjoy eating out at Burts and Monte Cassino though.

    Susan2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely and homely cottage in a lovely location.

    Gavin2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s place was just wonderful. We liked it so much we even wanted to stay for longer, but unsurprisingly it was fully booked! The cottage is a real home from home, with everything you need for a relaxing break. It’s really cosy and stylish, Anne even made sure to put the heating on for us before we arrived (it was a very cold day!).

    Maria2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time during our stay. The cottage was in a great location and we particularly loved the log burning fire. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

    Robert2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a peaceful, quiet, home away from home while visiting Gattonside, this is the perfect cottage. Anne has thought of everything when setting it up: reliable internet, a Nest system to control the heat so that you’re comfy no matter where you are in the house, a spotless and organized kitchen and bathroom so you don’t feel like you’re searching for basics, and homey decor that just adds to the cottage’s natural charm. Tucked away from the main road, we never once had any issues with noise and I had some of the best sleep while there. Check-in / out was also simple because of Anne’s communication. I would absolutely recommend this space for anyone who’s tired of hotels and wants the simple pleasures of feeling at home.

    Nicole2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a great location. Will be looking to stay again!

    Lewis2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is our 2nd visit to the cottage. Another lovely stay, beautiful cosy cottage with everything you could need. Excellent communication throughout. This visit we went to some of the local towns and a trip to Edinburgh via park and ride, which was both cost effective and ease of travel into the capital. Trip to the Italian restaurant in Melrose was a tasty with lots of choice.

The bed was super comfy, check in was easy and had more kitchen equipment than I could possibly have used in my short stay. Perfect location for shops and restaurants in Melrose and all the many walks in the area. I came by public transport (train Edinburgh - Tweedbank and bus from Tweedbank to Melrose) and it was super easy so definitely accessible without a car. Loved it!

Located in the heart of Melrose, this quirky loft conversion is just a 2 minutes’ walk from the centre of the historic town of Melrose. You have your own private entrance, small internal area for coats, shoes etc then up to the bright studio where there is a large double bed, two lovely armchairs, a dining table with 2 two chairs, a fully equipped kitchenette as well as a bathroom with shower/wc and basin.
This studio is presented to a high standard and is an ideal base for sightseeing, walking, cycling and fishing (on the nearby River Tweed). While set in the heart of Melrose, it's secluded and private location gives you a peaceful setting in which to relax. Bikes, fishing tackle, walking gear etc can be stored in the garage. Bikes are available if you'd like to travel around and a travel cot is also available on request.
You are 2 minutes’ walk from the centre of the historic town of Melrose, the birthplace of rugby sevens. It is one of the prettiest towns in the Borders, positioned at the foot of the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills (the most distinctive single landmark in the Scottish Borders). The ruins of Melrose Abbey (dating from 1136) is a very popular tourist attraction. Melrose has a lovely selection of unique shops, restaurants and cafes just a 2 minutes stroll from the accommodation.
  • Outstanding! Very high quality accommodation and excellent, friendly host.

    Martin2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Despite wild, windy and cold weather outside, this was a lovely cosy place to come back to after a day outdoors. The studio was cleverly laid out and well appointed. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay and I felt very at home here. There were lots of nice additional and thoughtful touches too. The bed was incredibly comfortable and, despite rain and wind battering against the windows at night I still slept like a log! It’s only a few minutes from the centre of Melrose where there are some excellent restaurants and hotels for food and good local shops. Bus links to other parts of the Scottish Borders can be picked up at the end of the road. Kerry’s communication was top notch and she very kindly drove me to the train station on check-out so that I wouldn’t have to stand about in the snow waiting for the local bus. I would happily make this my base in the Borders in future.

    Caroline2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I was researching the area for some time to find a place that was good value and interesting to stay at for my girlfriend's weekend away with me. The Stables hit many sweet spots and can whole heartedly recommended it for those who want to stay in the area. Thanks to our hosts, especially for the recommendations for cafes and restaurant.

    Ben2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • I've spent a couple of nights a week here for the last few months and it's been nothing but outstanding. Has everything you need for a stay in the borders, and if there's anything you need, Kerry and Al are more than happy to try and help where they can. Will genuinely miss the place as I won't be working up in the borders as often now.

    Brian2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our little boy for whom Kerry provided a travel cot and his own baby towel too! The accommodation had everything we needed and was well equipped and spotless and also within easy walking of Melrose high street. It was comfortable and warm and the shower was lovely. Scones and jam were a nice touch waiting for us too. The sloping ceilings were ok for us but might be an issue if you're really tall. Kerry was really helpful both before and during our stay. Great host, great place - highly recommended!

    Dave2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay for work or while visiting the borders. Close to good rail links for Edinburgh too. Great hosts that are always more than happy to help in any way they can.

Delightful detached cottage situated in reputedly Scotland oldest continuously inhabited village. 1 mile from the bustling Abbey town of Melrose and a mere 4 miles to Tweed bank train station where you can hop aboard and be in the magnificent festival city of Edinburgh in less than an hour. Fabulous walks right from the door including the Borders landmark Eildon Hills.
The owners Neil & Ann have lovingly restored this property as it was the first house they had when they got together. They hope one day to retire back here as it holds such wonderful memories for them and they hope they can help you create some wonderful holiday memories too.
  • We stayed at Hawthorn Cottage for a short 3 day break over a very wet and windy February weekend. As the cottage is so well appointed and equipped we had a fantastic and very relaxing time. There is everything you could possibly need and more in terms of welcome gifts that will help you enjoy your holiday and feel right at home. Location is superb as you can walk into town or up the Eildon Hills with no need for the car. We also did a day trip into Edinburgh which is a very easy 1 hour drive away.

    Andy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, very clean, cosy and about a mile easy walk into Melrose. Thoughtful extra touches.

  • From the moment we booked our trip Linda went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The cottage itself is beautiful, clean and well equipped for a family stay (the welcome hamper was a very unexpected and thoughtful touch, not to mention the Christmas decorations which immediately put us in the festive spirit). This was our first trip to Scotland and the cottage provided a peaceful base to explore the nearby towns and cities including Edinburgh. We stayed over the Christmas period and had just the most wonderful time in the cottage. Thank you again for such a fantastic trip!

  • My wife, eldest son and I spent a week at Hawthorn Cottage while on our tour of Scotland. We were there to visit Melrose and explore the surrounding districts. Hawthorn Cottage turned out to be just perfect. It is only a short walk into Melrose, so no need to take the car and has fabulous exposure to a multitude of great walks around the local country side. The cottage is well equipped and extremely comfortable and a little bit quirky. It has a lovely sense of history about it. Linda is a great host and was very easy to communicate. We would not hesitate to use Hawthorne Cottage again should the need arise.

  • Hawthorn Cottage, and our host Linda, could not have been more perfect!!!! The cottage is charming and welcoming affording privacy and ease. Lovely kitchen and bathrooms, plenty of space to spread out and yet cozy and comfortable. Linda was the most perfect host with a welcome of fresh flowers and a gift basket and with amenities already in the fridge!!! She was extremely attentive and with great communications!!!! Cannot day enough about the accommodations, Linda and the cottage! Looking forward to our next stay!! 5 stars!!!!!

  • We had a wonderful week at Hawthorn Cottage. Everything was amazing. The cottage was beautiful and extremely comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and the shower hot and strong. The kitchen has everything you need and the basket of goodies was a lovely treat as were the fresh flowers. The living room was so cozy and such a pleasure to use in the evening and the upstairs area light and airy. The walk to Melrose along the path was delightful as was the walk along the Tweed. There were a number of tourist attractions a short drive away. We made some lovely memories. Thankyou!!

  • We had a fabulous week at Hawthon Cottage. The house is charming and impeccable (according to the photos). It is well located, 5 minutes from Melrose, pretty village with sites to visit and quality shops and an hour from Edimbourgh where we have been by train. Lovely touches upon our arrival, fresh flowers, fruits in quantity and bottle in particular!

    Mathieu2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawthorn Cottage. The cottage itself is charming, typically Scottish and well equipped. It is in an excellent position to take advantage of the wonderful walks nearby, some of which take you, in just 15 minutes, to Melrose. Thoughtful touches such as the “things you might have forgotten cupboard” proved useful. Communication with Linda was excellent - prompt, positive responses. Finally , Found left behind reading glasses which she is posting on.

Abbey Mill Perfectly located near the ancient ruins of Melrose Abbey (perhaps the name gives it away!) and the River Tweed, Abbey Mill is built in a quiet cul-de-sac with plenty of open space. Shops and restaurants are only a few minutes’ walk away, but if you prefer to go by bike, the safe lock-up garage provides the perfect storage. Lots of lovely walks including the three peaks of the Eildon Hills right from the door.

  • This really was a home from home with everything we needed to feel completely comfortable and relaxed. perfect location and excellent communication as well as wonderful little touches that really made our stay extra special.

  • We had an excellent stay in this property. For Melrose it is very conveniently located, the town is literally round the corner. Be aware that Melrose is quite small so if you're looking for local amenities like restaurants and takeaways then it is a bit limited. The property is extremely well furnished, it really felt like a home away from home for the week. In terms of the kitchen it went beyond expectations with everything you could need to cook a meal. Linda was quick to deal with an issue which cropped up over our stay (doors were very creaky and the patio door had jammed) so that was a real positive. The property is showing its age a little bit and the photos aren't 100% representative of the property in its current state, but they are still very accurate. The fridge did have a faulty sensor and noise travels easily in the property so it did bother my parents by beeping in the night a couple of times. Overall though we had a great stay and I would definitely consider using Linda's place again in the future!

  • Very nice house, with a very kind host. We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Paper House. The house was clean, well decorated, with comfortable beds. Very good experience.

  • Very spacious and clean, and a really beautiful garden. We stayed here with two babies and really enjoyed the space, the piano was an added bonus! A lovely goody basket was left out for us and everything we needed was provided. We climbed the nearby hill for a fantastic view and explored nearby Melrose which is a nice little town. Altogether a great stay.

  • We loved our stay at the Old Paper House - the house is very spacious and extremely well equipped. It is easy to walk into Melrose in 20 mins. The garden is beautifully kept and extensive with lots of wildlife to see. Linda, the host was exceptionally helpful and the welcome pack on arrival with locally sourced products was perfect. We will return!

  • The house had everything we needed, well equipped, warm, clean and comfortable. Games and the piano were great for those wet days. The driveway is a bit tight but fine with care. In the summer the garden & patio would be wonderful. We enjoyed our immensely and would book again.

The Blue Brick Bothy is situated in my garden and has its own private entrance. It has a large room which has a double bed, a sofa, coffee table and wood burning stove. There is a private loo and basin and a small kitchette with a sink where you can make hot drinks. There is also a large fridge/freezer and a microwave. The shower, which is private, is in the main house. Continental breakfast. No TV or Wifi. Totally private get away from it all location.
Guests can privately sit in the pretty garden. Cushions for garden chairs can be found in little blue shed.
St Boswells is a quiet pretty village. We are lucky to have a Post Office, a general store, McCalls, a couple of hairdressers, a hotel/bar/ restaurant (The Buccleuch Arms), A pizzeria/ Italian restaurant ( Hunters Stables), chip shop and the award winning Mainstreet Trading Bookshop/ coffee shop is across the road from me. This has WiFi access. There are some lovely walks immediately out of the door and we also have a pretty golf course which is set down by the River Tweed. There are tennis courts, play parks and a cricket pitch all walking distance.
  • Very cosy garden room with pretty views over a lovely cottage garden. Pooee is a super host and provides a perfect little secluded bolt hole. The bed is very comfy with good linen. A mini kitchen is stocked with all you need for cuppas and breakfasts. There is a loo and basin but you have to use a very lovely large bathroom in the main house for baths and showers. This is not a problem, especially if you have a dressing gown and slippers with you. The towels provided are thick and large. There is a wood burning stove which she has all ready for you just to put a match to, which we did each morning while the kettle boiled before a lazy cup of Earl Grey in bed. In all it was a great stay and we can heartily recommend Pooee’s garden bothy.

    Mike2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay. We had our toddler with us. Took our own travel cot, and it worked out fine. Loved the garden setting, and the bothy is very comfortable. Pooee is a great host and was very helpful. We have friends in the village and would stay again in future!

    Deborah2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perfectly placed for St Cuthbert’s Way. Charmingly furnished to a very high standard.

    Ruth2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Pooee was an excellent hostess, made us feel right at home and was always on hand and helpful - especially when my partner left her jacket behind and had to retrieve it! The bothy is a delight; beautifully decorated, comfortable and generally very pleasant. The breakfast was a lovely addition too with lots of different options to choose from. Couldn’t fault our stay there!

    Dominic2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Pooee’s place is as beautiful and relaxing as it looks in the pictures. Pooee was also the perfect host. I was staying to run a long distance race that didn’t finish until the early hours of the morning, Pooee still got up to check if I needed in the house for a shower when I got back. I would be absolutely delighted to stay here again.

Stone-built, semi-detached cottage with an abundance of charm and character , coal fire and central heating .The cottage is quite deceptive and the main rooms are spacious. It has a lovely cottage garden overlooking the Malt burn, which is bounded by the woods on the base of the Eildons. Ground floor, bathroom; sitting room (with digital/free view tv and fireplace); small bedroom; dining kitchen; and upstairs, the main bedroom and one further small bedroom.
Situated just yards from one of the listed pedestrian routes to the Eildon Hills, Number 27 is superbly positioned as a “base camp” for casual or keen walkers as well as those who are content to take the short stroll into town and avail themselves of the various wining and dining establishments or other places of interest. Time spent in the sitting room can be quiet and contemplative, with a glass or cup of something, a book and the glow of an open fire or guests can tune in to the digital tv for television or digital radio. The bedrooms are quiet and comfortable. The dining kitchen is good-sized and equipped with the main appliances (halogen hob; fan oven; fridge/freezer; microwave; dishwasher etc) and utensils and crockery. Outdoors, there is a small patio /terrace just outside the back door or guests can enjoy the landscaped and terraced garden overlooking the Malt Burn and the woods at the rear. The primary sounds being the Malt Burn in spate and the calls of woodland birds. The cellar room, with lighting and power, is accessed from the garden and offers storage suitable for bikes , golf clubs , walking boots etc The washing machine is located here and a clothes drying line (on retractable reel) is positioned outside, at the cellar door.
Melrose is a magnet for those seeking cultured relaxation or outdoor pursuits. At the foot of the iconic Eildon Hills, Melrose is home to the world-famous Greenyards rugby ground and ancient Melrose Abbey. The annual book festival has become a popular fixture, attracting the great and the good every year. Melrose is now served (via the station at nearby Tweedbank) by the Waverley line to Edinburgh. The town is well served by a variety of privately run shops, hotels, pubs and restaurants. There are also library; museum; tennis courts; parks; gardens; and a co-op supermarket. For those needing retail park outlets ; swimming pool; cinema etc, Galashiels is located only about 3.7 miles away by road. (Alternatively the short rail trip could be taken from Tweedbank to Galashiels). The cottage is literally a few steps from the signposted St Cuthbert’s Way footpath leading to the Eildon Hills. From the front door, Melrose Abbey can be seen in the near distance and it, together with all of the amenities and attractions of Melrose, are within easy reach.
  • Great location near to the town in Melrose. Lovely, clean, cosy cottage.

  • Beautiful cottage with lots of lovely detail and touches. Perfect for our reunion weekend with 4 adults. Location is gorgeous, facilities great. We would visit again in a heartbeat!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage which is more spacious than you might think. The fantastic, freshly baked scones - complete with butter and jam, tea / coffee and milk, were just one of the lovely homely and welcoming touches provided by Isla & Elliot. Storm Dennis decided to interfere with the newly serviced boiler but Elliot was down in jig time to get back up and running. A lovely base in this beautiful Borders town. Thanks. Hope to return before too long.

    Shona2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here during storm Ciara. The house was very cosy & a starter fire pack is provided for the first night’s fire. The interiors & soft furnishing are of a very high standard. The cottage is everything the photos show. The stairs are narrow & are negotiated with care, but you get used to them. Five stars.

    Susan2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is really lovely & cosy, well equipped. We enjoyed the comfy sofas and the fireplace, and had everything we needed for a fantastic weekend. Two of the bedrooms are on the small side but still comfortable.

    Jemimah2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely cottage. So well looked after. Great decor and lovely little touches like scones and milk and also a little box of bits and bobs if you have forgotten something like a toothbrush! Great having the fire too.

    Claudia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was so perfect for our stay. The hosts were so easy to contact and had thought of everything you may need plus extras! Great location and lots of information provided. Will be recommending to everyone!

    Alison2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Number 27 for three nights and had a wonderful stay. It is a cosy cottage that has all you need to explore the local area (which is amazing). As hosts we couldn't have asked for more, great communication and willing to help whenever you need it. We will happily stay there again knowing that we will have a great place to relax in. Everything you need is in walking distance of the town center and you will not be disappointed. I would recommend Number 27 without hesitation. I'll also be adding it to my Air B'nB favourites.

  • The cottage is very well located in a wonderful panoramic position. We were positively surprised in terms of amenities, cleanliness, etc. we were in Scotland for 7 weeks and this accommodation exceeded everything. whether it was the WIFI connection, the kitchen equipment, the cleanliness in general ... no matter. simply 5 stars without any deductions. For a holiday in the boarders a wonderful address. The communication with the hosts was straightforward and any questions were answered immediately. If there were 6 stars we would rate this property as 6 stars. Thank you!

  • Douglas’ home is a wonderful stable cottage surrounded by the beautiful border landscape. It’s a short drive from Melrose, Jedburgh or Galashiels and was a great place to rest after cycling and walking. Douglas was a very receptive host and was able to help out with a number of questions I had on arrival. I saw him a few times during the week but he didn’t disturb our privacy at all. A great place to rest while you explore the borders and beyond.

Our flat is a 2 minute walk to Melrose town centre, where there are many restaurants and good local shops. The lounge has a sofa bed, which can be utilised and the main bedroom has a king size bed.
We are very central to all local amenities and a great space to enjoy the local rugby or book festival.
  • Karen is an amazing host and if I could give her more than the 5 stars on the review, I would. The flat was clean, tidy and had everything I needed to stay there. She even gave me advice on a shortcut to walk to the hospital where I had my placement and showed me where the abbey was. The flat is lovely and quiet and the bed was so comfy.

  • A super stay and very convenient for Edinburgh Fringe! Direct train from Tweedbank with free parking 2 miles away. Super comfortable apartment below Karen’s home. She met us and showed us around, really appreciated milk, bread, tea etc thank you! Bed very comfortable, lovely bedding and towels, spacious rooms, good TV, tiny but functional shower room, kitchen ideal, lots of space, own parking space and own entrance. We couldn’t have chosen anywhere more ideal for our 3 day break, we walked into Melrose to eat one evening and bought pies recommended to us from butcher in town! Thank you for making us so welcome, Karen!

  • John and Amanda have thought of every little detail. The Attick windows are great. You can lay in the bed at night and watch the stars, or you can slide the skylight blinds to darken the room. The skylight windows can be opened for ventilation. I stayed in the winter. The room was well heated. The electric shower was perfect, there were plenty of bathroom towels. Everything was spotless. Breakfast was terrific. Both John and Amanda have put in a lot of effort to make me feel comfortable and welcome. Thank you both for a lovely stay

  • John and Amanda were superb hosts and really went out their way to ensure it was a pleasant stay. I appreciate the flexibility afforded with check-in and the room is absolutely immaculate. We slept like logs, and got up to enjoy a simple but highly effective breakfast spread with Alison lays out. Many thanks for the wonderful stay and the best of luck with the Burger Van. If you approach it anything like you approach AirB&B then I'm sure it'll be a raging success!

  • I have stayed at several Air B and B's throughout the UK. This is definetly one of the best I stayed.

  • Lovely stay. Was sparking clean, John gave us some great local information. With a very thoughtful breakfast. It was a wonderful stay.

  • John and Amanda's facilities was like being in your own apartment. They gave privacy. The quality of the room bathroom facilities and breakfast style and cleanliness are of the same standard of a hotel. The room and facilities are far superior to a bed and breakfast. What more can I say other than thank you for a pleasant stay.

  • John and Amanda are delightful hosts who are very welcoming and who made our stay a real pleasure. The room and ensuite facilities are very clean and comfortable and we would not hesitate in recommending them.

  • We had a great nights sleep and enjoyed the comfy bed. Really valued the tea and coffee making facilities in our room, it might seem a small thing but it’s a lovely touch for the weary traveler. Lovely sparkling clean bathroom packed with amenities if you forget something. Easy and safe parking outside too.

  • I stayed in Maggie's place for 2 nights for a wedding. The room was spacious and very clean with access to a sitting room and bathroom. Maggie was very responsive and flexible with my arrival and departure. She also provided a good breakfast. The area looked beautiful and I wish I could have stayed longer.

  • Thank you Maggie. I had a great nights stay, unfortunately too quick. Maggie received me later in the evening than expected but was very welcoming. She had breakfast left out for me at 5am as I was going to a cycle event. Very friendly and welcoming, would recommend to others.
