We have a large dog who is in our home. There is Wi-Fi in the room, but no television. And the room has a private bathroom a shower.

  • Cozy and welcoming

  • This is a great place to get an early start for your Yosemite adventure. Stephanie is very friendly and responsive, she shared lots of tips and current Yosemite information with us. The room is spacious, very clean and has everything you need. The two beds have heated blankets to keep you warm. Our stay here was a pleasant experience and I can highly recommend it.

    Adam2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in the room at Stephanie's on the way into Yosemite and it was perfect! The location is close to Yosemite - a bit over an hour if you're headed to the Valley floor - and Stephanie had tons of useful advice on where we should go and what we should prioritize as first-time visitors to the park. Even though it was cold outside, we had out own heater and heated blankets to make sure we stayed warm. The space was super clean and had everything you could need - fridge, microwave, coffee machine, private bathroom, extra towels, etc.

    Brandon2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Two queen beds, electric blanket, smooth check in. Very clean. There is no kitchen in the unit.

    Iman2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly comfy, convenient, charming space close to Yosemite and great for backpacking. Would definitely stay again if in the area!

    Claire2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Stephanie and Chris! Our trip to Yosemite was amazing, and staying at Bowen Base Camp made it even more spectacular! We will be staying here anytime we plan on visiting the Yosemite area in the future.

1920's charming cottage located in the center of downtown Sonora, right next to the historic St. Patrick’s church. Totally renovated with your vacation and relaxation in mind. Wonderful location and setting, guaranteed to please! There are two separate and private cottages located on this unique property. Although they are independent and without shared spaces, they would be ideal to book together with a larger party. Please inquire if interested.
  • We kinda don’t want to tell anyone about this place because we want to come back often and keep it to ourselves. It’s a bit of heaven in the beautiful town. A perfect weekend getaway place!

    Chris2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, really, clean and well kept. 10/10 would recommend!

    Job2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very spacious and nicely updated. The location is very walkable to town, maybe a few minutes. We walked to town everyday. It was a great vacation. The parking space was small, but there was street parking, and the street wasn't too busy. If you've never visited the area, visit the tourism place in Sonora; they gave us a lot of tips.

    Katie2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot if you want to be close to downtown! It is around a 5 minute walk. The cottage was very cozy and bright. Check in was a breeze and the host was very quick to respond. As stated in the listing, the parking spot is extremely tight and could barely fit my Honda Civic. Will definitely consider staying here again in the future!

    Yesenia2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location and so well kept! We will be back

    Melissa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place was cozy,l and comfortable, and located a block away from the heart of downtown Sonora. Great stay if you're looking to stay in this area.

    Andrew2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mike's place was adorable! I ended up being there for work and my boyfriend met up with me for a date night in the neat Downtown Sonora area. After having a beer or two and great calamari at the Sonora Brewing Company, we took a little stroll through the town and checked out the park and church. The church next to the property had an awesome eerie feel about it, which was amazing for this huge Dexter fan. Haha. I got to bbq a steak and asparagus on my final night and wished I didn't have to head back home. The place was very relaxing, had a beautiful yard, and some of the best scenery. I definitely would stay again! Thanks Mike!

    Laura2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • A good alternative to staying in yosemite if you are on a budget. Also meant we visited Stanislaus which was beautiful. The flat itself was perfect and had everything you needed to be able to cook a good dinner. Mike was easy to communicate with him and as the temp dropped quickly he even came over to switch the boiler on at short notice.

  • Wonderful place!!!

    Marek2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie was a great host. We love her cabin style and amenities. Everything was cozy, warm and careful set up for us. The whole environment is gorgeous, with nature and animals around. and a beautiful lake view in the back of the cabin.

    Lara2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie was so warm and welcoming! We loved staying at her cute & cozy cabin. Great location - close to Yosemite and loved the nice touches in the cabin (bottle of wine and snacks).

    Julie2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie is an excellent host. Beyond the quick responses, incredibly easy & convenient check-in and great value of accommodation, she really goes the extra mile as a host. The cabin has everything you would need, from a convenient kitchen, no stove but microwave, fridge, COFFEE, wine glasses and dishes, treats for your travel and a HAIR DRYER! The bathroom is off of the bedroom and as a traveler of 1, I just left the door (which is a thick curtain) hanging back in the hook space, so I woke up looking out at a pasture at Sunrise, which was very peaceful and I enjoyed. The bed is comfortable and I wanted to stay in it longer than I needed too, eventually telling myself that Yosemite is down the way & I didn’t come there just to lay in bed. The park is close and a beautiful winding, breathtaking in its own right, drive. Cherie has a basket of guidebooks and points of interest/information, in case you need it. Would 100% stay here again & did I mention the amount of stars visible @ night, really a joy to stay there!

    Elizabeth2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie's place was great! It was really cozy and relaxing. I even got to see a toad hop along the road in the morning. 😊

    Lee2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cherie’s cabin was BEAUTIFUL, and it was the perfect stay for our weekend trip.

  • Diane was such an amazing host! My roommate and I just stayed one night here on our way to Yosemite and the space was so clean and they had to cutest cat which was a nice surprise! Would definitely stay here again!

  • From the back yard first enter your private bathroom, then come out from another door of the bathroom, Across the corridor carpet enter your room. Nice yard and you can do yuga in a big living room. The frig is in the garage with many stuff which is their extra refrigerator too. The window face to the front door but lower just higher than the ground. Small room with a microwave. The air condition is from the ceiling. I stayed one night then left because I prefer no air-conditioning in the room. I like to sleep with the window open so I can get frash air entire night.

    Hong2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We truly felt at home. A very peaceful environment. We enjoyed the privacy in all spaces. Great scenery. Be sure to enjoy the hot tub!

    Lisa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Diane and Conrad were great hosts. The welcome was very warm and we felt that we could ask anything if we should need advise. The amenities were extremely thoughtful, we would love to come back in the summer months to try the pool. :-)

    Silvia2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Diane was very hospitable. The space is very nice and private. Couldn't have asked for more, especially at the value of this space.

    Peter2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The room is lovely but Diane as a host is even better. No matter what question or need we had, Diane was quick to respond and help us out with whatever we needed.

  • Jillian is a top notch host! She communicates in a timely manner and has a clean, peaceful space tucked in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Her book of suggestions was fantastic (try Sonora Thai food)! I would recommend her cute little cabin for anyone looking to have a relaxing stay with incredible views in the Sierra's!

    Sean2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super cute remodeled miner's cabin and was restored really well to include all modern amenities. The deck offers an amazing view of the surrounding hills and countryside and was a very relaxing spot to have a glass of local wine. I wish I had more time to explore the whole area so will have to schedule another trip here - and will be sure to rent this miner's cabin again when I do!

    Lisa2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was lovely! Sparkling clean, extras, nice amenities, plenty of privacy, an amazing view. Would definitely love to stay again next time I’m in the area.

  • We loved the rustic charm of this little cabin and the surrounding beauty of nature. As soon as we pulled up, we got a warm greeting from Marilyn's dog, Flicka, who became a dear companion whenever we went for a walk. The scenery is spectacular and it was a great stopping place to visit Yosemite. Beware that the WiFi connection is a bit iffy and there is no TV, but it was nice to be off the grid a bit. The bed was comfortable, though a bit on the firm side and the kitchen was easy to cook in. The refrigerator is small, so don't bring a lot of perishables. We didn't take the time to burn any wood in the stove, but the heater works well to warm the whole place. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay and hope to come up again in the future.

    Marti2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We went here for our honeymoon & loved every moment of it! We felt so peaceful and detached from the hustle and bustle of life. We really fell in love with exploring this little Wild West town & making fires. Also fell in love with the dog Flika on the property, such a sweetie. 10/10 would stay here again.

    Anna2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house amongst the quiet woods. There is a pond next to the house and a cute dog that keeps visiting you. 10/10 would recommend staying here.

    Ruturaj2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • A week away from everyday hustle Marilyn's cottage was exactly what I needed: a comfortable, warm escape nestled in the foothills of the Sierras. Firewood for the stove is plentiful and the water pressure is amazing. The location is reasonable drive from local adventure/cultural attractions (I took a day trip into Yosemite) and isolated enough for those seeking solitude.

    Erich2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Marilyn's place is fantastic. There are instructions for everything in the house which made it all very easy; including the wood fire stove. Her border collie made us feel so welcome, and we'd gladly stay here again.

    Jeff2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot to stay if you're planning to adventure in Yosemite! The property is beautiful and the cottage is very cozy.

  • We had a great time visiting Marylin place. The fall colors were magnificent, the sky beautiful and everything was so quiet !!! It was located centrally enough that we could easily do day trips to visit Yosemite valley, Hetch Hetchy reservoir and also Stanislaus forest.

PLEASE READ important info BELOW re: zero-waste, vegetarian & farm living, NO bath or wifi in Casita (in main house) & extra people (1 max). no pets. enjoy garden veggies & other food (by donation please).
Welcome to The Refuge... Casita La Paz is a cozy space for those who are good with rural life (i.e. bugs and dust; see "Other things to note" below) and a short walk to the house for bathroom and kitchen facilities. it has... • a super plush double bed with 100% organic cotton linens • wine glasses, organic tea bags, cups and an electric kettle • a private entrance and outdoor "hang out" area and handy parking • natural light, double doors for watching the sun rise, A/C • great books to read PEACE & QUIET: the Casita has no TV or wifi... get a break from the rigors of city life as you unwind and enjoy the peaceful, quiet days and nights. we do, however, have lots of books to read and crickets & frogs to serenade you! COUNTRY LIVING: if you are expecting an insect-free, pristine space, you may want to consider another place. we live on a farm in a community setting (we share our home with housemates who help with the gardens and other Refuge projects) where we often have community events, so it's not always perfectly clean- but it is full of love and warmth! EXTRA ADULTS or CHILDREN: if you have more than 2 adults in your party or if you have children, the Casita may be able to sleep 3 cozily (either sharing the bed or squeezing in a small crib or sleeping pad on the floor if you have one). (again, please note: there is no bathroom in the Casita; all bathrooms are located in the main house.) ANIMAL GUESTS: we apologize, but we don't accept pets. thank you for understanding.
the Refuge is located in rolling pasture land dotted with huge oak trees and watched over by a magnificently big sky. during the day, you can hear neighboring horses and cows, as well as our chickens, wild turkeys, hawks and other animal friends. at night, you can sometimes hear coyotes, but mostly the sounds of the breezes blowing through the poplars and eucalyptus. traffic is minimal, so walks down the road are absolutely lovely, especially early in the morning and around dinner time. and, of course, if you hop in your car, you are just minutes from historic Jamestown (antique-ing heaven!) and Sonora (a lovely downtown to explore), an hour’s drive to Mercer’s Caverns and Big Trees State Park, and about a 90-minute drive from Yosemite Valley. p.s. we are always adding information about local and California-wide places and activities to our guidebook.
  • I had a great time with Oni and all the beautiful persons who live there. I've enjoyed staying in this wonderful and peaceful place. They invited me for a delicious diner. I would totally recommend.

  • John's cottage was ideal for our family: 2 adults and an infant. The space was roomy enough and we loved that it included a seating area (couch that is a sofa bed + coffee table). We felt pretty comfortable and the heating unit kept it cozy. The bedroom is snug but has window above the bed and in front so light can flood it when you want and when you don't want it, the blinds does an excellent job of blocking it out. The patio with outdoor seating area was also great. We used it to just lounge outside and take in the sounds and view of Sonora downtown. The full kitchen was an ideal amenity and the cupboards even contained a French press (unfortunately we didnt get a chance to use). Clean and comfortable place. The added bonus was that John was über accommodating and responsive. We would love to stay here again!

  • We really enjoyed our quick stay at John’s place. It was so cozy and felt like a little cabin getaway. Perfect location and was just a short walk to a delicious brewery and close to some tourist spots as well. Would definitely recommend!

  • This was an awesome place, like 5 min walk to downtown and spectacular view! The inside was perfect for a couples getaway with an awesome deck overlooking the town.

  • My husband and I love this cottage! It’s just a short walk into town and the cottage itself, with all the amenities, was just perfect for us. We can’t wait to stay here again!

Located in historic downtown Sonora and just blocks from main street this newly renovated cottage marries the charm of yesterday with modern ammenities.
Great care and attention to detail was paid to assure that our guests would walk into the cottage and feel that they were in for a treat. original woodwork, Douglas fir wood floors and a sunroom lend it character. Although this listing is new and has few reviews, we have been listing with Airbnb for the last two years with two listings "Historic downtown retreat" and "Downtown rustic elegance" please check these out also.
Theall St. is a cul d sac with very little traffic, surrounded by quaint historic architecture and a quiet family atmosphere.

Newly constructed, secluded bungalow sleeps 1-4. Features: Forest/Mtn/Lake Views, Artisan Queen Bed with new mattress, Couch/Queen Bed, Kitchenette (fully equipped & stocked), 50" LED DirecTv, Bluray, Movies, Fireplace, Games, Covered Patio, Gas BBQ & Fire Pit, Hammock, Darts, Ping Pong, EV charger, Table, Dresser, Closet, Central Heat/Air, Solar, Wash/Dryer. $31 per car HOA fee provides security, swimming pool, lake and marina access. Pet fee. No other guests/owner on property -- yours alone!
This space is YOURS and yours ALONE while you are my guests! No other guests, no hosts and no pets unless you bring one! While the bugalow is part of a larger house, no one will be there during your stay -- except the wandering deer and squirrels outside the patio! The view from inside the bungalow and from the patio is forest, mountains and the lake, with no other homes close by. In winter you will see the snow-covered Sierras in the distance. There is a 2 person hammock just below the bungalow which is ideally placed to watch our beautiful sunsets! The bungalow is about 375 sf. in size (25' x 15'). Besides the indoor living space, you have a private, shaded, and rainproof lighted patio (almost as large as bungalow) with large dining table, professional darts game, and propane BBQ with utensils. You also have use of the upstairs sunny deck and furniture, plus the front patio with table tennis and a firepit for stargazing at night! The bungalow itself has a private entrance, wood and stone floors and entrance, warm colors, 2 beds (one is a trundle sofa), living area with fireplace and TV, full bath, closet, dinette and kitchenette (refrigerator/freezer with condiments, microwave, 2 hot plates for cooking, sink & disposal, vented hood, coffee and tea makers, counters and cabinets, pots, pans, plates, glasses, utensils). For entertainment we have darts, table tennis, corn hole, many board and card games, satellite TV and a movie library. The bungalow is tastefully painted in warm yellow and burgundy colors (reminiscent of Italy) and decorated with a beautiful local mountain artwork and some of my personal collection of historic and contemporary rock-and-roll memorabilia. The nightstands are albums and album covers encased in resin constructed by a local artist. For your safety and comfort we employ Nest thermostat and smoke detectors throughtout the space. A fire extinguisher is located in the kitchen. The bungalow resides in the beautiful, gated resort community of Pine Mountain Lake, part of the quaint little historic Gold Rush town of Groveland -- the last (real) town and Gateway to Yosemite Valley, Hetch Hetchy (the other Yosemite), Tuolumne (Sequoia) Grove, Merced (Sequoia) Grove, Tioga Pass, Tuolumne Meadows, Tenaya Lake, Mono Lake, Berkeley Camp, San Jose Camp and Camp Mathers. We are a child friendly home that is designed with their safety and comfort in mind. The bungalow has a trundle bed for sleeping two kids or adults. There are many board games, coloring kits, a chalkboard, and kid-friendly movies for them to watch. Darts and Ping Pong table for older kids. Deck railings are up to code and the electrical system is new. We are parent-friendly and as parents ourselves, we are sensitive to how costly it can be to vacation. Therefore, infants (age 3 and under) stay for free. We are a pet friendly home ($15 additional per pet -- airbnb has a separate booking mechanism for adding this fee). We supply a mat, water and food bowls as well as poopy bags for your convenience. Please clean up as they go and regardless of where they go -- we walk all over this property! When we remodeled we wanted to make a safe space too. Many homes in the area are older and do not meet current deck safety standards (for instance: 42" high rails, no more than 4" spacing between rails), have old and failing electrical systems, old and dusty carpeting/blinds throughout, and older not very energy or water efficient fixtures and appliances. We set out to bring our home up to todays standards both in safety and environment. Safety: Our deck railings have all been redone to reflect the latest standards for safety and meet new minimum height standards and spacing between rails. In addition, deck posts and house connections have all been fully beefed up for additional strength. We sit off the road and there are safe places to play on our half acre parcel. We keep most cleaning supplies locked up or out of reach of small children. However, we do keep detergents under sinks but can move those if you request in advance. A physical landline exists for emergencies and LED lanterns are nearby in case of power failure. An emergency kit is located in the closet. We installed a whole-house surge protector to protect your and our devices! Automatic lighting at the side of the house and top of bottom of outdoor stairs. Clean and Green: When we embarked on our remodel we wanted to make this home as clean and green as we could. To that end we invested in: Solar roof - we recently installed an 8kw solar system on our roof. Electric Vehicle charging system: We currently have a Clipper Creek Universal 32 amp charger which will work with any electric or hybrid vehicle. We have a Tesla adapter if you don't. There is no charge for you to use this service! Clean and germ free: We installed wood and stone floors, and metal or plastic window blinds exclusively throughout the living areas to keep the home as sparkling clean, dust free and mildew free as possible. A state-of-the-art Lennox, whole-house, PureAir air filtration system eliminates airborne particles, germs and bacteria, chemical odors and vapors. We used low VOC paints throughout. Lighting: We use LED lighting exclusively -- indoors and outdoors! In addition we use zero-light-polluting exterior fixtures (Dark Skies). We love our incredibly clear, Milky Way skies for night viewing and do not want to detract from it in any way. BTW, did you know our whole village of Pine Mountain Lake has NO streetlights! Water Heater: We installed a state of the art GE Geospring hybrid water heater which is extremely efficient with its heat pump architecture yet allows us to adjust it for maximum output when we have a large number of guests. This is the only conventional water heater certified by PG&E and the US Dept. of Energy as energy efficient enough to warrant rebates and tax credits. Low water usage: All toilets are state of the art for minimum fuss, and extremely efficient water usage and qualified us for a recent rebate offered by the state. All other bath fixtures are low flow yet are very comfortable to use. We are on a sewer line so none of our waste impacts the land or the lake. We have minimal landscaping that requires minimal watering, using rocks and boulders and the natural surroundings to enhance the yards. We capture much of our storm water and currently have implemented some bio-swales to keep 90% of storm water from running off the hillside and recharge the groundwater instead. You may have heard of the bark beetle. It has caused a lot of damage throughout California. We took steps years ago to thin out our parcel both for fire and tree health. We have not lost a single tree to bark beetle (knock on wood) and we have pro-actively had them injected this fall with medicines that should help protect them for the next several years. Drought and poor forest and stormwater management are the biggest culprits leading to this state-wide damage. Heating and Air Conditioning: Our Lennox whole home HVAC system is so energy efficient it qualified for Federal energy efficiency tax rebates. We use a Nest learning thermostat to also save energy and have been impressed with how good a job it does! The Lake/Marina: We are situated conveniently in Pine Mountain Lake with a lake for swimming (cordoned off area and diving platform), rentals for kayaking, paddle boards, boating and fishing. The marina features a store, rental office, restaurant, grassy park for picnicking, BBQs, bocce ball and volleyball. Other facilities you may access (additional fees may apply): * Championship 18 hole golf course, driving range, pro shop, Country Club bar and restaurant (live music and dancing on weekends). * 6 lighted tennis courts * Swimming pool * Equestrian Center offering horse rentals, trail rides and lessons * Archery range * Shooting range * New Hiking and Mountain Biking trails currently being built. Other nearby attractions: Checkout the photos to see other nearby attractions but here's a summary: * Hiking / Walking trail: - 6 miles roundtrip of hiking along Big Creek * Rainbow Pools: Locals swimming hole with diving off large rocks * Rafting: Raft down the Tuolumne River! Up to Class 5! * Wine tasting: Several great wineries in Jamestown and Murphys 30-90 minutes away. Some newer wineries right in Groveland. * Lake Don Pedro: Bring your boat and waterski! * Giant Sequoias: Tuolumne Grove, Merced Grove and Calaveras Big Trees state park are nearby * Railtown 1897: historical train museum and rides, music. * Gold Panning: take a shot at finding the next Motherlode! * Rim Fire: See the devotion and regrowth from the Rim Fire * Hetch Hetchy: We are 30 mile from the "Other" Yosemite Valley * Biking: Great road and mountain biking all around us * Tuolumne Meadows: Another side of Yosemite most people never see * Carlon Falls: A beautiful hike and swimming hole nearby
"Downtown" Groveland is about 2 blocks long, so don't sneeze or you will miss it. Essential Places you need to know: Marval Market -- good store for most items you may need. Firefall Coffee -- they roast their own coffee and make great breakfast items Randy & Kevin's -- great delicatessan and GREAT PLACE to buy meats for BBQ! Iron Door Saloon -- great spot for food, drink and music Two Guys Pizza - don't bother with anything else! Pharmacy -- for prescriptions, etc. Vetinarian and Medical clinic available.
  • Amazing place with an amazing host. We’ll definitely come back here.

  • The best trip we've experienced. Fantastic Host in Bill who pulls out all the stops to ensure a warm welcome and accommodating experience. Highly recommended visiting, a real gem of a property within a beautiful location. Has the best road trip route through California to arrive and onwards to Yosemite. Cant reccommend Bill, Groveland or Casa Yosemite highly enough.

  • Thanks for Bill’s quick responses to our questions, we had a very nice stay.

  • Bill and his vacation rental are the sort of host and stays that make me love Airbnb. Bill knows his property inside and out, and takes a great deal of pride in his space and his knowledge of the area. We stayed in the smaller guest suite portion of his home in Groveland. It was immaculately clean and organized upon arrival, and he even gives you a couple post cards and a s’mores kit (yes really!). Other highlights include an easily accessible EV charging station. My Model 3 got about 29 miles of charge per hour, perfect for recharging overnight. There’s a very spacious deck area immediately outside the guest suite with seating for 6, a large grill and darts. Plus, amazing views. Bill communicates a lot of information via the Airbnb app, which I loved but might be overwhelming for others. Bill provided detailed itineraries for me and my family, which was very appreciated. This property provides a cozy and hygge feeling that was very welcome on our trip. I highly recommend Bill’s place!

  • Bill is without a doubt the best Airbnb host we have ever stayed with! He really made our experience so much fun and richer with his excellent ideas for things to do in Yosemite and surrounding areas. The house is great with an incredibly comfortable bed and bedding. The view from the deck was so lovely and the setting was quiet and relaxing. We will definitely look forward to staying with Bill again!

  • This was hands down my best vacation rental experience ever. Bill was so thoughtful in providing plenty of information about the area that it made our vacation a breeze to navigate. The cottage was perfect in all ways...spotless, comfortable and with all the amenities. Loved it and hope to go back soon.

BEDROOM PHOTOS COMING 3/6/20 This charming, eclectic, Shabby Chic cottage is just 26 miles from Yosemite National Park and walking distance to the darling, historic town of Groveland, CA. The cozy bedrooms and living space make it a perfect stay for a family of 4. Fully furnished and set up with the kitchen basics you'll need to prepare meals along with quite a few essential items to give you a great start. Just bring food!
The cottage itself is quite old and in need of attention, but I have lived in the cottage since buying the property in the summer of 2018 and beginning my hipcamp listing. I have a real love for beautiful and comfortable spaces and have created that with mostly repurposed items. The bed linens and towels are new and yummy, though! My rental listing proceeds are currently going toward paying for the land and will eventually go to remodel the 1950 built cottage. I would love to have guests return year after year to see the progress! The property is also listed on Hipcamp, so you will enjoy meeting others traveling to Yosemite. The decor is very comfy and a lovely collections of repurposed furnishings, dishes and art. All of the bedding is new and from the Shabby Chic line sold by various retailers. Heating is all electric and there are some quirks about which heater to turn off when it's time to make your coffee. (which is whole bean, French Roast, btw.) I provide coffee, tea, popcorn, cooking essentials like olive oil, flour, spices, herbs, butter, pancake mix, oatmeal, dried fruit and brown/raw sugar. Just bring your food! You will have plenty of storage containers for the fridge and ziplock bags to take your left overs with you. The washer and dryer work perfectly and you are welcome to wash any personal items needed during your stay. We will take care of all of the laundry after your stay, though.
Groveland, CA was established in 1849 during the Gold Rush and has historic appeal. My property is named Ferretti Farm in honor of my great, great grandparents, Giuseppe and Marie Ferretti who were pioneers who settled here. There is actually a historic landmark in the town of Moccasin (at the bottom of Priest Grade) that is a shrine that was built for Giuseppe by another early settler who was his neighbor. Guess he was a pretty sweet guy! There are so many wonderful things to do in Groveland! It's about a 3-5 minute walk to the back parking lot of The Groveland Hotel where they have live music and small bites during the summer months, as well as a beautiful Bourbon Bar and lovely beers and wines and quick bites in Provisions. The Hotel Charlotte also offers a wonderful dining experience in the summer with outstanding mixology from one of the most creative mixologists we've encountered. Mountain Sage Coffee/Cafe and Nursery is also a quick walk away for tasty coffee drinks and sweet or savory bites. We must not forget the Historic Iron Door Saloon! This is the oldest saloon this side of the Mississippi!!! There are Movies in the Park put on by the Groveland Community Services District during the summer months that you may get to catch and a bus stop for the Yosemite Area Rapid Transit Service so you can avoid adding to the congestion in the park.

This vacation rental is just 26 miles away from the entrance of Yosemite National Park. We are inside the gate of Pine Mountain Lake. Within 1 mile to either the main lake where you can rent kayaks, paddle boarding, paddle boats and other items or Dunn court marina. There is a snack shack at the main marina. We are right around the corner of the golf course. There is usually a live band or DJ at the golf club, where you can dine and participate in adult beverages. There is an equestrian center, community pool, pickle ball and tennis available.
  • Lovely home ! My family had such a wonderful stay . There was everything we needed there for us to use in the kitchen . I had forgotten some utensils and she had what I needed there to cook . Communication was awsome and she answered each question right away. I referred some friends to rent there because they loved my videos of the place.

  • When you walk into this Airbnb, a feeling of calmness comes over you. The decorations all over the house give the place a personal touch. The showers turn hot faster than my own place. The beds are very comfy and there are plenty of additional blankets to stay warm. We stayed at this spot because we wanted to be near Yosemite while keeping the lodging affordable.

  • Host was kind enough to meet us at the house as we had arrived after sunset. Even told us that the drive from the Bay is expected to be longer due to traffic jams. House is perfect for 2adults & 3kids. Big kid was happy on the sofa bed. Heating, hot water, kitchen, cable tv all top notch! Expect a lengthy 1-1.5hr drive into Yosemite Valley and sights. We enjoyed the accommodation very much!

  • Really clean, comfortable and thoughtfully prepared for guests. Cozy inside with comfortable beds, full separate dining room and living-kitchen combo. Great setting for cooking your own meals either inside or grilling outside on the lovely back deck surrounded by pines. There’s a well stocked grocery and meat market in town. Enjoy!

  • Highly recommend this gem! The cabin was perfect sized and very cozy, with lots of nice details. David was very responsive and the location was perfect for visiting Yosemite during the day. This was a wonderful experience!

    Andrea2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's cabin was even better than we expected. Attention to detail was obvious for the comfort and ease of guests. Exceptionally clean. Communication was outstanding and he kept us informed about wildfires and outages in state even days before our stay. I would not change a thing about the home it was so relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and grilling the best. Beds were comfortable too.

    Julia2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • David's accommodation is perfect: impeccable cleanliness, perfect location if you want to go to Yosemite park, idyllic ... Nothing to say. Thank you David!

    Vanessa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We did not see David because we arrived a little late but he gave us all the directions to find the place and return. The cabin is very well equipped, quiet and an hour drive from the entrance to Yosemite Park. David has thought of everything: cozy bed, sponge towels, well equipped kitchen, fresh water bottles, board game, movies .. The cabin is very close to Groveland where you have to go for a beer or eat a burger at " Iron room saloon ", the oldest saloon in California.

    Jennifer2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • David was an amazing host and cabin far exceeded our expectations. Great location, amenities, and comforts. Would highly recommend.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Karen's while visiting Yosemite - would stay again!

    Andrew2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great space! The living area and bedroom were very comfortable. Karen had coffee and water and snacks waiting for us on arrival. We didn't actually meet Karen but communication was no problem. Any time I had a question, she responded quickly. The information guides and recommendations were very helpful. I wouldn't definitely return and recommend this rental space.

    Kathy2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place is clean, private, and relaxing. The gated community her home is located in offers many outdoor activities. We saw many wildlife and had a nice time relaxing on the porch, and also the couches. The couches are very comfortable and clean. It pulls out into a queen bed, which our two other friends slept in (they slept great on it). The bathroom is very clean and updated, and has one of those heaters, so after the shower you don’t have to be so cold! Which I appreciated a lot, lol. Bring K cups for she has a keurig coffee pot, and spoons and forks if you plan on eating there instead of eating out. She had plastic forks in the packaging available but I’m not sure if that was left over from the previous renters — either way we used it. Although we didn’t have a full kitchen, the mini fridge with a freezer and the microwave was enough for my husband and I since we meal prepped for our trip. :) Karen’s place was the perfect place to be cozy in after a full day hiking around Yosemite! Hot showers, and a clean place to sleep in. Highly recommend. :)

    Majie2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lot of sweet touches. Fridge and microwave are very convenient. There is no kitchen but didn't mind at all. A great place overall

    Carine2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and clean accommodation, perfect for a multi-day trip to Yosemite National Park (about 1.5 hours drive). In addition to the private rooms (living room, bedroom, bathroom) there was a parking space in the driveway, a fridge and the possibility to prepare coffee. The arrival is recommended before sunset, as it is very dark in Groveland at night and the accommodation is easier to find in daylight.

    Christoph2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful room separated from the house. It is in a beautiful environment near a lake where wild deer and other animals walk around. It is clean and we recommend it to everyone to stay here when you visit Yosemite.

    Bob2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A country get a way. Perfect to see the rolling hills, and to be close to Yosemite, a straight shot to it.

    Kaitlin2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Karen’s place was the perfect location for us to travel in and out of Yosemite each day. It was very clean and private. The only downsides were the entrance fee and the kitchen facilities. A microwave and fridge are provided however we were only given two paper plates. This made it difficult to microwave our food.

Enjoy a comfortable, eco-friendly trailer camping experience just 30 min outside Yosemite. The Chick Inn trailer has all the basic amenities to provide an outdoorsy experience without sleeping on the ground. The "Loo with a View" lets you bathe in the treetops, while the trailer provides basic cooking and comfy sleeping options (new mattress!) for ultimate convenience. All in the mountain with miles of trails and rivers to explore nearby. Stay here and avoid the fees of Pine Mountain Lake.
The quaint vintage trailer provides a small double bed (new, actual mattress and memory foam topper), table, stove top, sink, and a "pee-only" toilet. The bathroom in the trailer is pretty small. If you have problems getting up from the toilet without support this probably isn't the best situation for you. There is a fan for hot days and heater and blankets for cold nights. During the winter months the trailer can be quite chilly; it's a large metal box. If you get cold easily bring extra warm clothes. Also if it's forecasted to be freezing at night we will not be able to host you since all water will have to be turned off. This is not an 'RV' but a small (16ft) vintage trailer. It provides all the basic amenities but not indoor space for stretching out. The "Loo with a View" is an outdoor shower and composting toilet (poo only) for all your cleaning needs. Patio and reclining chairs for your relaxation needs after a long day of hiking/exploring Yosemite. This eco-friendly trailer setup is powered by solar panels and recycles all shower and sink water through a greywater system (landscape irrigation). Non-toxic cleaning products are used for all cleaning and laundry purposes. We like to keep this space hypoallergenic and fragrance-free so please leave your perfume and fragrances in the car. And absolutely no pets for this reason as well.
Quiet neighborhood only 1 mile from town, but not ideal to walk to. Neighbors enjoy the serenity of the mountains so please be respectful.
  • Loved this spot so much. So many great little touches. Overall a very memorable experience.

    Andrew2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • I loved it there. Probably not for you if you want all mod cons but if you like simplicity in a great location this is hard to beat!

    Bobby2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • A “total California experience” for us as we visited Yosemite. The camper is small but super clean, and the bed is comfortable. The outdoor shower is amazing. About 25 miles to the gate at Yosemite, and 50 miles to the valley. Aimee is a wonderful host.

  • We had a great time at Chick Inn. It was our first experience in an RV. Everything was cozy about the interior. Loo & shower with a view was just perfect! Very innovative. Loved our stay.

    Ayanita2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The trailer is pretty magical - everything you might need is tucked into its own spot, and the shower and composting toilet are awesome! Really fun to explore Groveland, too.

    Elinor2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Aimee's place was fun, interesting and extremely clean. She and her family are incredibly kind, helpful and shared great places to explore nearby, their dog was very sweet too. There is a market and places to eat within a short drive. This is a convenient place to stay if taking day trips to Yosemite or the Hetch Hetchy. The outdoor shower is amazing with a beautiful view. Definitely recommend!

    Gareth2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it, everything went smoothly during our stay. The shower and bathroom with a view was definitely the highlight, super convenient how the lights at night to the bathroom lit up. I’d come back and recommend this place to anyone.

We relocated from the Phoenix, Arizona Valley a little over a year ago. We love this area! There's a little mini-mart nearby that sells Trader Joe goods and just next to that is Sierra Flow Fitness for those who wish to burn some calories while on vacay. The yoga classes are great! A few miles up before Pinecrest is another little gem town called Twain Harte. Lots of great places to dine at! All menus and area information are available in the cottage.
  • Speaking clean!! There is coffee, WiFi, pots and pans to make breakfast and dinner! Small and quaint. Sonora is a great little town to explore and hike! Quiet and fun time!

  • Fantastic cottage for a long weekend !

    Gabriel2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage at King’s Court is the most adorable, super comfortable and welcoming place we have ever stayed ❤️ Leilani is amazing, she stared a fire in the fire pit every night, which is so welcoming after a fun filled day out and about. The cottage is super clean and so adorable from top to bottom. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back to visit! 😊

    Kimberly2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is just as described. We really enjoyed the little extras - the smores and nightly fire were a great feature. The location next to park was nice to walk the dog and get out to explore. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Thank you.

    Tama2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so cute! I loved that they provided the s’mores and had the fire ready both nights of our stay without us having to ask. The place was sparkling clean too, which was great!

    Jacob2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in this cute little house. It is not far from Dodge Ridge where we spent our days playing in the snow. Would definitely book again!

  • Beat our expectations in every way. Some Airbnb hosts scrimp on amenities such as bedding, towels, soap, location etc. Not this one!! They thought of everything!! Super cute, cozy and clean. Jayne was nearby but we never felt intruded on in any way. Enough privacy and space with the knowledge that she was just a phone call a way if we needed anything. Highly recommend this place!!!

    Kat2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy, cute, and clean getaway place. About an hour drive to Yosemite and plenty of things to do near by. Jayne was so amazing and always made sure we had everything we needed. Will stay here again for my next visit to Yosemite.

    Travana2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jayne’s place has everything you need: fully functioning kitchen, wonderful bathroom, big bed and an outdoor jacuzzi! We will definitely be back again. The cabin is in ~2h driving distance from Yosemite. There is also a bunch of local hikes to try and the local town Sonora can provide you with good coffee!

    Niclas2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Our trip to Yosemite was so much better because of this welcoming space! We thought it looked cute and homey in the photos - it’s even more so in person! We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to unwind and rest after hiking and to really enjoy being on vacation. Highly recommended!

    Anne Marie2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • I did a little solo three day spiritual retreat at this AirBnB and had the greatest time. The little studio is very private, and thoughtfully and stylishly furnished with everything a guest would need. Jayne provided baskets of snacks, teas, and even champagne! It was immaculately clean both physically and energetically (which is rare for a space that so many people stay in.) The bed was really comfortable and had great pillows. I slept like a baby. The kitchen has a full size stove, microwave, and mini-fridge, as well as is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, and even pantry basics, like cooking oil, flour, sugar, spices, etc. It was easy to cook in, and to intuitively find whatever I needed. The kitchen and bathroom have gorgeous views of a forested hillside. I actually set up a little meditation spot at the kitchen window because it was so beautiful. I ate all my dinners outside at a little cafe table watching the magnificent sunsets. There is a pond below with croaking frogs, so many birds on the property, and even bats flying in the evening! The whole property was just teeming with life! Not to mention the sweetest outdoor cat Northern, who definitely filled the cat shaped hole in my heart from missing my own furry little men. I enjoyed exploring the property and discovered magnificent moss covered trees and boulders in a ravine below. It truly felt like a fairy land. There was also a hot tub with a beautiful view, though I didn't use it on my trip. In person this AirBnB was far more beautiful and comfortable than I expected, and I had already been charmed by the photos. Definitely don't hesitate to book a stay here!

Our mountain home is so comfortable, you may not want to leave. We are centrally located to many historical destinations, such as, Columbia State Park, Calaveras Big Trees, Angels Camp, Dodge Ridge, Jamestown 1897 Railtown Historic Park, Pine Crest Lake, Iron Stone Winery (a must see), and the famous Yosemite National Park. These are all to name a few.
Our warm wood floors against the creamy white walls make our place pop with mountain appeal. Every effort has been made to make you feel right at home.
We have great neighbors. Sometimes they stop by for tea on Fridays. If you're inclined, come join us too.
  • Patty was very accommodating and hospitable. They have a lovely place, close to Sonora, and it was very clean and homey. Kitchen privileges were great. I highly recommend it.

  • Amazing Host with an amazing stay. Had a great weekend at this place. Highly recommend!

    Ahmed2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • It is truly the best Airbnb experience that mori and I had ever experienced. The host is super friendly, and it's our pleasure as well to celebrate her birthday, too. It is an amazing house located in a forest surrounding, you'll definitely enjoy yourself and the great atmosphere of nature. Worth staying again if I come back here.

    YuHong2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are very kind and considerate. They keep the place very clean and there are many games and areas to enjoy especially during warm weather or down time (which we couldn’t since it was winter and we were out most of the time). Conveniently located for trips to Murphy’s or up to Dodge Ridge or Columbia. We enjoyed our stay.

    Pratibha2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was literally the best AirBnB experience we've ever had! The hosts were super nice, the place was clean and beautiful, the breakfast was excellent (the host even baked us fresh muffins!) and the whole experience was quite enriching! We'd love to stay here again!

    Ashish2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay in Sonora at Patty and her husband's place. It's in a very picturesque area outside of Sonora. it's about 15 minutes from everywhere you might want to visit in the surrounding area. We had a wonderful time visiting in the morning before we left while enjoying a special blend of their coffee and a light breakfast. We highly recommend staying with them if you have the chance as they are very personable and helpful in guiding you to the many attractions in the area. We are already looking forward to another visit in the near future. The bathroom is right across from the room and you are the only one using it so that is an added bonus. We highly recommend staying with the family. Thank you again for your hospitality!!

This is a 3 bedroom home located in a gated community with a private lake and golf course nearby. This home can be a wonderful place to unplug and enjoy family friendly activites. There are 3 bedroooms that are chemingly decorated for a cabin-like feel. It is not rustic, hoever, there is small kichen fully equipped with full oven and micriwave. In the evening, the family can sit on the largge deck perfect fir star gazing or telling ghist storues. For a more active time, there is a pool tabke that can bd converted to a ping pong table in the garage.
This home is close to many amenities but it feels secluded. The long driveway allows for more than one car to park safely off the street. Pine mountain Lake is 5 minutes away by car. The golf corse is also nearby. It is a beautiful 18 hole course complete with deer and other wildlife to observe as you play. You could walk to both lake and golf course, but it is at least 20 minutes with some walking up hill. Our teenagers walk it with ease! Others might prefer to drive. There is a hiking trail down the street with easy access and it can be an easy walk or more challenging climb depending on how far you decide to go. There is so much to see in the surrounding areas that you will want to rent a car or drive your own. Pine Mountain has a private airport and stables with horses for rent.

  • This is the most beautiful space we have ever stayed in. So many nice touches, the view was gorgeous and Nancy even brought me a blanket when she heard I wasn't feeling well. We didn't want to leave!

    Sara2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to visit Yosemite from, lovely roads on the way there. It was good to have full kitchen facilities and everything we could have needed was there. Nice and quiet area, perfect place to relax.

    Tom2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy and Casey have thoughtfully created a lovely place high in the trees. They welcomed us on arrival, showed us round, explained a few things, told us to call if we needed anything and then left us to enjoy our stay. Everything has been designed to make you feel home from home with comfort and cleanliness a priority. The bed, linens and choice of pillows are super-comfortable, the towels are the fluffiest, the kitchen equipment has everything you need to cook full meals, the tv has a voice-control option and extra channels and the tree-top views are amazing especially at sunset. It was close to Jamestown ........ like stepping back in time! The Yosemite N.P. entrance was an hour and twenty minutes away ......... through lovely countryside ........ and a good supermarket about 10 minutes away. Nancy gives clear instructions how to get up to their hill-top home ........ follow carefully, preferably in the daylight first time! Thank you, Nancy and Casey for sharing part of your home with us.

A 1920's charming cottage located right in the center of downtown Sonora, just steps to Main Street. Totally renovated with your vacation and relaxation in mind. Wonderful location and setting, you'll love it. There are two separate and private cottages located on this unique property. Although they are independent and without shared spaces, they would be ideal to book together with a larger party. Please inquire if interested.
Next-door to the historic church and right in the center of Downtown.
  • Such a great space ! Close to everything in town.

    Danielle2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay in Sonora! We checked in right at 3 pm after spending the day at Yosemite and we couldn't believe how busy the downtown area was. Traffic was horrendous (we thought March was the off-season!) and parking was tough, but once we got that taken care of, the BnB was a dream. The town is adorable and John's place is a little slice of heaven. Every room was spotless and the decor is excellent. Cozy and luxurious at the same time. The place very spacious - both indoor and outdoors. Our only regret was not staying longer!

    Kimberly2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great location within walking distance to the downtown

    Kathy2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • John's cottage is the perfect spot for exploring downtown Sonora or for just making a home base for day trips in the Gold Country. We spent the 4-day President's Day weekend in the cottage while visiting our daughter and family that live just a few blocks away. The place far exceeded our expectations. It's been tastefully renovated with modern conveniences but also retains it's original charm. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the utensils needed. Check-in and out was a breeze and the place was immaculate when we arrived. We'll definitely return for another stay, highly recommended!!

  • Super cute little home! Awesome decor, super cozy, and it was located really close to the downtown area..good distance to get walking in, but not strenuous. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom, and very clean. Recommend!

    Carolyn2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in town to attend a Retirement party, and the place could not have been more perfect for us! It was obvious they remodeled recently and it had a vintage yet modern farmhouse charm. It was cozy and comfortable and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants nearby. We would highly recommend.

READ BELOW FOR SHARED AREA DETAILS! We have a bright & cozy home, tucked into the heart of downtown Sonora (on the corner of Bradford + Pine St). We are a young family who are working to cultivate community by urban homesteading, sharing our space & spreading kindness! Walk a block to downtown & enjoy coffee, food, and shopping. Drive 1.5 hours to the center of Yosemite Nat Park. This is the perfect place to stay for the frugal, community-centered group!
THE ROOMS: Your rooms are at the front of the house, right next to the front door, so checking in is a breeze! You will have two, adjoining bedrooms, each with a cozy king sized bed. There is generous space in each room for hanging clothing, as well as a desk and writing area in one, and a sitting area. THE HOUSE: A guest once told us, “there is joy here, between these walls.” Built in 1890, our house was one of the first on the street. We love the way the wood floors whisper, the afternoon light that turns the home to honey, jasmine & lavender in the summertime, a the constant stretching growth of the garden & the sweet city property. Our family consists of myself, my husband KC, our daughter Aspen (5) and son Griffin (3). There is also a second AirBnB room that we rent out, so there may be other welcome folks hanging around. We all share the home and the space, and feel so happy to have one another in a time where most live feeling lonely! KIDS LIVE HERE! With kiddos, comes occasional crying, flying food, and crayon marks on the hardwood. We do our very best to keep a tidy home, and a calm home, but a bit of flexibility and kind understanding from guests is appreciated! It takes a village, after all. ANIMALS LIVE HERE! We have two friendly indoor kitties, as well as several strays who linger around the neighborhood. We also have five happy chickens, and a wild golden retriever pup. WE ARE IN TOWN! The garbage truck comes roaring by early Friday morning, and there is always the possibility of a loud vehicle now and then. SHARED SPACES: We share the entire home - our family & guests alike! Shared spaces include: Upstairs kitchenette, full bathroom, and living room, and downstairs full kitchen, full bathroom, and living room, as well as the yard. We have almost anything you could need - so guests are welcome to use items from the fridge, bathroom items as needed, cooking gear, etc. SIGNS OF LIFE & PRIVACY: Naturally, being a shared home with children, there will be a bit of audible overlap between the upstairs & down, and occasionally from room to room. But we have come to love and take comfort in these signs of life - our children softly singing, the ting and scrape of dishes in the evening, the smell of ground coffee beans steeping in the early morning. We are careful and considerate and hope that guests will be, too, since shared walls are sacred. HUMAN / FUR BABIES: We welcome children & families with wide arms! There are toys & children's games both upstairs, and in the downstairs art room. Our family is either at home, or not far away (our toy shop is just a few blocks away), so there will be abundant time for play, if desired! Pets are also welcome, as long as they don't mind cats. Some things we have in the works: + A large spring/summer garden that will be accessible for guests to harvest as they please. + A FlowHive with a colony of happy honeybees (and honey to share!) + Remodeling, redesigning, cleaning, painting, shifting, inch by inch! We are just getting settled into this new phase of our home & are grateful for the patience and understanding of our guests!
Our favorite things about our home is the location! We are nestled just down the block from our toy shop, a quick walk away from the best coffee, a bakery, the noodle shop & many other retail stores and restaurants. A Save Mart supermarket is also located well within walking distance, as well as the farmer's market in the summer months. In under a 5 minute drive, you can visit Woods Creek Rotary Park, as well as the Dragoon Gulch Hiking Trail. Downtown is such a sweet place to be! Sonora is about an hour long drive from Yosemite National Park. We are also very close to Pinecrest lake & Dodge Ridge Ski Park (30 minutes drive, winter weather permitting).
  • Awesome space, awesome host. Would absolutely stay again.

  • Kristen’s place was all so easy! Great communication, everything was thought of, great local tips, stylish, clean and very comfortable. We were heading to Yosemite from SF and Sonora is a lovely place to stop. Kristen’s is very close to the main part of town, but still quiet. We were recommended a fabulous place for breakfast (Bakery81) which Kristen and KC seemed to have tailor made for us! The local high street has a lovely historic feel to it, great places to mooch around (lovely toy shop!) and we got to see Legends which was a bonus! We would absolutely be back and stay some more as there’s obviously more to discover in the area! A real gem!

    Beatrice2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen’s place was the best air bnb I’ve rented thus far. I stayed 6 weeks and it felt like home. The hospitality was a 10/10 and would recommend to everyone.

  • Kristen's house is sublime! Perfectly located to downtown Sonora, everything is walkable. If you love the Victorians of San Francisco then the interior will thrill you with vaulted ceilings, moldings, hardwood floors and vintage touches. Quiet neighborhood, comfy bed, sweet pets and a kind host. Can't wait to return!

In the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills, in the heart of California’s “Gold Country” lies Sonora , named after the miners from Sonora Mexico who settled the City in 1848. Known as the “Queen of the Southern Mines”, this pristine City still holds on to its historic charm with many of its existing buildings dating back to the 1800’s. In fact, a walk along most streets in the City allows one to reminisce with days gone by; a brick or stone building, a slate wall, an iron shutter or fence, or a historic home nestled in an old fashioned garden. Along with Historic buildings the City is home to three museums. These museums give visitors an insight into the way of life in California's mining towns. The California State Park's of Columbia and Railtown 1897 are just a short drive from Sonora, are also a must see to get the full "Mother lode" experience. The "Big Trees" State Park is also just a short drive away. An opportunity to see the huge California Redwoods in person. Many of our visitors come on their way to or from Yosemite National Park. From Sonora it takes 1 hour to get to the entrance to the park and another 1/2 hour to the valley floor. We have directions the way the "locals" go available in the cottage. The Historic Downtown is also home to the Tuolumne County Arts and several art studios featuring the brilliant work of local artists. Being known as the regional center for arts and entertainment visitors can enjoy live theater (a short drive to two Sierra Rep theaters) and year-round events and festivals. A short drive away you will find the wonderful Black Oak Casino with free live music nightly and a summer concert series. You can also attend concerts at Ironstone Winery in Murphys, about a 30 minute drive away. Every season brings a natural beauty to Sonora. Visitors can also partake in the numerous winter and summer outdoor activities located just outside the City and in the nearby Stanislaus National Forest. These include skiing, hiking, boating, swimming and horseback riding. Pinecrest Lake is a short drive and a beautiful place to hike or just relax, swim, boat in the summer time. Sonora is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay Area or the Central Valley. State Highways 108 and 49 pass through the City.
  • We had a fantastic time during our stay! Laurie and Bob pay attention to the little details and offer great recommendations for your trip! We ended up staying on a rainy/snowy weekend so we spent more time inside than we initially planned but even our 16 month old was entertained (thanks for the thoughtful toy bin!). The place was clean, nicely refurbish and felt cozy yet spacious.

  • We really enjoyed our time here because the hosts really made us feel at home with all the little personal touches and all the little instructions printed out to make our stay super smooth. The space was spotless and had everything we needed for our short stay in the area. We are already planning on coming back next time we sightsee in the area.

  • What a gem! We booked this place on a whim for the same day & Len and Katie were so quick with their responses/acceptance. This home had anything you could have possibly needed & the location is excellent. Sometimes it is hard to find really great dog-friendly places but this is by far the best one we’ve booked. The home is so cozy and the wrap around deck is great for morning coffee & taking in the view. Check out process was very easy compared to a lot of places we have stayed which is an added bonus when your trip is coming to and end. We can’t wait for our next stay here!!

This tiny house (120 sq. ft) is brand new and built just for you, our Airbnb guests. Though small, it packs all the essentials for a comfortable stay including bathroom, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, heater and air conditioning. When the queen murphy bed is not in use, it converts into a couch leaving space for the table and chairs. It is conveniently located 71 miles from Yosemite Visitor's Center and a great stopping point between the Bay area and Yosemite National Park.
You will use the driveway behind our house that has two parking spaces, one for you and one for Airbnb guests at a separate listing. Please park in the indicated parking space.
We live in a small neighborhood not far from Highway 108 between Jamestown and Sonora. Both are old gold mining towns with quaint Main Streets filled with antique shops and restaurants. One of our favorite cafe's for breakfast, Wood's Creek, is just a mile away. There are a few roosters in the neighborhood to wish you good morning but we have earplugs available if you're a light sleeper and want to sleep in.
  • In a small space you have everything you need to stop before Yosemite. The shower is big enough, the bed very comfortable. We came to Jamestown in a colder season. People with a very light sleep could possibly wake up from the ventilation / heating. For us, the little house had a lot of charm. Therefore gladly again.

  • This is my second time staying here. Great, small getaway.

    Zack2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great little tiny house! The location was nice, I was able to get to everywhere I needed to within about 30 minutes. The bed is also very comfortable, and fit two people perfectly. Only suggestion would be to pull in VERY SLOW up the driveway, I scraped my undercarriage while barely pulling in. Other than that though (which is pretty much out of the hosts control) everything was awesome (:

    Sarah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for an affordable stay. I would recommend it to others and return for another stay.

    Zack2020-01-12T00:00:00Z

Easy access to 120, which takes folks into the park. A good option for people not wanting to stay in the park but still wanting access.

Erika was a very lovely host with helpful tips and some of the best scrambled eggs for breakfast, freshly made with ingredients of her own ranch. We'd definitely stay here again.

Welcome to Gables on Gold! Our Victorian Era ranch house was built in 1886 and includes an expansive front yard surrounded by over 50 rose bushes. Upon arriving, you'll cross marble pavers onto the wrap around porch. The suite includes a kitchen/sitting area and private bedroom and bath. We are conveniently located two blocks from downtown Sonora, with its many shops and restaurants.
You'll enter through a private entrance with a number pad lock (and lockbox with a physical key, just in case). Feel free to enjoy the grounds. There is a gazebo for outside dining and a sitting area with a fire pit. Smoking is allowed in these areas only. There is also a table and chairs on the porch offering a perfect place for you to enjoy your meals or morning coffee. The front door opens into an entry way where you'll find a private bedroom, with adjoining bathroom, through the door on the right and the kitchen/sitting area to the left. The bedroom houses a comfy queen size bed and flat screen TV. Locally made soap and hand lotion are available for your use in the bathroom where you can wash away your worries in the clawfoot tub. In the kitchen, you'll find a K-cup coffee maker, hot water kettle, toaster oven, microwave and full size refrigerator. The kitchen is fully stocked and we provide a variety of snacks and breakfast items including: popcorn and hot cereal. There is a foldout table, with chairs, to the right of the refrigerator to use for dining. We are conscious of the environment and do our best to keep waste at a minimum. One way we do this is by providing reusable K-cups and several different coffees from a local roasting company. A rollout twin bed is available upon request; it can be set up in the kitchen/sitting area. This room has a locking door, for privacy. A bit of History: Gables On Gold holds a piece of Sonora's history from the marble paving stones, taken from the same quarry as the historic paving stones in Sonora's Courthouse Park, to the house itself, which was built by John Rother in eighteen eighty-six. The McKibbins bought the house in the late nineteen thirties and owned it for forty-four years. Charles 'Mac' McKibbin was best known for his gold collection, which was a big attraction in Tuolumne County. Mr. McKibbin also entertained many of the actors, from the thirties through the fifties, who were filming in the surrounding area, among those being: Gary Cooper, Warner Baxter, Wallace Beery and John Ireland. Although we're only a couple blocks from downtown, the house is on a quarter acre lot boasting an expansive front lawn, gazebo and separate sitting area. In addition, towards the back of the property, sits the Carriage House, which was built in the nineteen fifties.

  • One of the Best Air Bnb’s I have lived in. Great location for visiting Yosemite . Super cosy, super comfortable ! Couldn’t have asked for more. There are very thoughtful little touches around the suite to make your stay so pleasant and welcoming. The suite is so pretty with nice furniture and a mini kitchen. The house is sparkling clean. The bathroom is beautiful. The beds are super comfortable. Nice deck with outdoor seating. There were nice homemade chocolates for us :)

  • This was our second time at this lovely Airbnb in Sonora. It's a great location in a quaint little mining town - lots of cute shops on the main drag and a nearby ski resort, both of which we visited and enjoyed. Rowe and Andrew have everything thought out - they even left a bunch of delicious homemade treats for us. The kitchenette has everything you could need for a short stay including different types of coffees and teas. No stove though but we knew that going in. It got a little cold inside but we were able to use the space heater. We'll be back!

  • Great location and accommodations in downtown Sonora. We really enjoyed the location for walking Sonora, the covered porch and patio area for sitting, the great coffee, and the gourmet chocolate treats. We hope to return.
