The house is so clean and Rich and his girlfriend are as nice as could be, very welcoming to both myself and my dog. • We had such a great stay at Whitetail. The space was clean and welcoming, and the views just really lovely. We woke to beautiful sunrises each morning, hiked and explored Acadia during the day and relaxed by the fire each night of our stay. It was a perfect location for us — felt quiet and secluded but had easy access to everything we needed. Briana was friendly, prompt and provided great local suggestions for the area. Definitely recommend!

Our unique and rustic post & beam cabin sits up a staircase atop a ledge on seven forested acres. The small cabin makes great use of space and has some modern day conveniences. A private retreat (no neighbors in sight) yet close to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and Schoodic Peninsula.
The 700 square foot cabin has 1 bedroom with a full bed, a loft with a fold out futon couch, and a secret sleeping nook with a queen bed. In addition, there is another fold out couch in the living room. A well-equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) and full bathroom provide for an out-of-the-ordinary but comfortable stay in a rustic setting. A high efficiency electric heat pump serves as heater and air conditioner if needed. There is a screened in porch and treetop roof deck which are perfect peaceful spots to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail. A wood stove, outdoor fire pit and tiki bar are added touches to make your stay fun. This is a place for people who don't need or expect luxury, but enjoy quiet simplicity. Our cabin is low key and low-fi.
The cabin's close proximity to many Downeast attractions makes it the perfect base camp. The cabin is a 10 minute drive to Ellsworth (groceries, restaurants, shops), 30 minutes to both Bar Harbor/Mount Desert Island and Winter Harbor/Schoodic Peninsula. All these destinations offer hiking, beautiful beaches, fishing villages, restaurants and scenic views. Beaches close by include Marlboro Beach (2 minute drive), Lamoine State Park (5 minute drive), and Lamoine Beach (5 minute drive) where you explore, picnic, and enjoy the best views of Mount Desert Island. Blunt’s Pond is also just a 10 minute walk up the road - you can take a dip in the cool pond at the small public park. Bring your bicycles and/or kayaks, swim in fresh and salt water, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We have a book at the cabin with the low down on all our favorite local attractions, restaurants, and shopping.
  • Amazingly cozy cabin close to Acadia! We loved the stay, everything was clean and comfy and there were little touches we enjoyed, like the guitar and record player. Highly recommend:)

    Erica2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Perch was a great place to hang out and use as "base camp" for the Acadia National Park area. The cabin was comfy and clean. As long as you can climb 40 steps, this is a hidden jem. We hope to make it back again.

    William & Audra2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We chose the Perch for its cozyness and because it was close to the Acadia National Park. We didn’t get to go hiking because of the weather, but we don’t regret one sec of our stay. The Perch was beyond expectations and we can’t wait to go back... and stay longer. Tx Cath and Patrick!

    Genevieve2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancé and I just got back from a 4 day trip to Acadia. We stayed at The Perch, and we are both so grateful that we did. The Perch is beautiful. After hiking all day at Acadia, the Perch was the perfect oasis and relaxation destination. We enjoyed cooking meals together after a long day of hiking and putting puzzles together at the table. We loved getting away from technology and our hectic world. The outside property is gorgeous, complete with an outdoor bar and fire pit. Although, we were honestly too tired from the day to use these, we hope to in the future! We cannot wait to come back with friends and make more memories!

    Mitch2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • My family of 4 had an awesome time at the cabin for our first trip to Maine and Acadia NP!

    Joe2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great and unique place to fully experience the beautiful nature of Maine.

    Kimberly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a good time at the Perch. We came to the area to explore Acadia National Park. It was very peaceful to come back after a day of hiking. The cabin was exactly what we needed.

Beautiful cottage in the woods, quiet, close to beach and state park. Great for a couple, very private. Outdoor grill, large screened in porch and a bocce court make relaxing easy.
The cottage is 10 years old, built with love from wood cut and milled on our property. Guests love the large screened porch. The kitchen is well appointed, easy and fun to cook in. The loft bedroom is easy to sleep in, great window and a skylight.
  • The Up Back Cottage was definitely one of the best places I’ve stay in. Great peaceful location, close enough to Acadia but far enough to escape the crowds of Bar Harbor and the National Park. The cabin is rustic in the best sense of the word and the wood burning stove was a highlight. Eric and Diane were very friendly and helpful during my stay. They are great hosts and Diane even suggest a sea watch site nearby where I picked up a lifer (black guillemot). If I am ever in the area again I would definitely stay here. I highly recommend this amazing cottage.

    John2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage with everything you need for a cosy and comfortable stay. We loved the quiet location and straight out the door walks. Good base for seeing Acadia without the bustle of the park. Eric is the perfect host.

    Kim2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Up Back Cottage. A great place for hiking, walking the beach, reading and cooking lobster that you can buy locally. Eric and Diane are wonderful hosts.

    Susan2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint, quiet, comfy, rustic retreat, off the grid and about 30 minutes from beautiful Acadia National Park and charming Bar Harbor. Eric has everything set for our arrival, showed us how to use the wood burning stove and then left us alone to our hiking and biking adventures. A lovely spot to decompress off the grid.

    Jonathan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect place to spend our vacations! The cottage was very clean, private and quiet in the woods, very well equiped and comfortable. The wood fire place, Lamoine Beach and Acadia NP just at 30 min was a must! The host is very welcoming and available.

    Rosemarie2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Eric’s place was very cozy and quaint and made whole trip feel like you were at home. It was close enough to all the touristy areas away that you had your peace and quiet when needed.

    Savanna2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Eric’s cottage was clean, comfortable, and peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Up Back Cottage.

    Michelle2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect! The cottage is so comfortable and enjoyable to be in that it could be a great restorative vacation on its own. Acadia is an easy 30 minute drive away and you can walk or bike to Lamoine State Park or the town beach. There is a great little trail right outside the cottage that is perfect for dogs to run and burn some energy before an on-leash hike at Acadia. Lots of great food nearby and Eric was an awesome host. I can’t wait to go back!

Our Enchanting, hexagonal, waterfront Cottage will steal your heart, is pet friendly and includes use of a kayak. A Magical setting facing west across the bay, views of Acadia Island skyline a short kayak away. Fabulous sunsets from cove. A ''little'' gem!
On 1.9 acres with 475 ft. on the cove, the tides and bird life are forever changing for memorable kayaking. Kitchen and living room, opening onto the water front deck, on the first floor with 1 bedroom and full bath on the second floor.
Acadia National Parks Schootic Point is 10 minutes away and Bar Harbor is a beautiful 45 minute drive.
  • Absolutely beautiful place in a perfect location. I stayed there on a couple of rainy days and still left feeling enchanted by the overall experience.

    Kevin2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot for a romantic getaway or just some relaxing time away from it all. The kayak was so nice to ride in the mornings with the seals that would come into the bay behind the house. The fire pit was a cozy spot to roast marshmallows at night when it gets cool. I enjoyed my time so much here I ended up extending my stay an extra day.

Lovely, quiet, shorefront location, with beautiful gardens and only 20 minutes to Acadia National Parks two main locations - Mount Desert Island and Schoodic Point. Pets are welcome. Hike, bike, watch the eagles, seals and other wildlife. Boats leave Bar Harbor for whale watching and lighthouse tours. Enjoy the Maine lobsters and other seafood. Come and relax in a most gorgeous setting. We will do everything we can to make your experience here as pleasant as possible.
Located on the head of Frenchmans Bay overlooking Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Enjoy evenings on the rocky beach as the sun sets behind you and the red light of Egg Rock lighthouse shines in the bay. Enjoy a cookout on the lawn or feast on local favorite lobster! Wander through the gardens enjoying the smell of the flowers, and the sounds of the songbirds. Enjoy the shorefront, sunning, reading or taking a dip in the cool waters of the bay.
The neighborhood is a quiet residential area at the end of a peninsula. Traffic is at a minimum and many neighbors walk their dogs on the main road. You can escape the heat of the rest of the country as the temperatures are usually in the 70's - 80's during the day and it cools off to the 60's in the night. You can enjoy the night sky watching shooting stars and seeing the moon rise over the ocean.
  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Griff's apartment. It was very cozy and relaxing. The property is nice and quiet- right on the water. I think it's cuter in person than it looks in the pics! Griff met us upon arrival and gave us suggestions for restaurants and things to do. It was a perk to have access to a washer and dryer in the apartment- this allowed us to only bring a carry on even though we stayed almost a week. The property was a great getaway, but you should know that it is about a 30 minute drive (or more with traffic) to Bar Harbor/Acadia. Ellsworth is closer, but it's still about 20 minutes away. We did lose power and water on the last night due to the Nor'easter that moved through- nobody's fault, but it was just a reminder that we were out in the country! Overall, we had a wonderful stay and we'd love to come back again.

    Anna2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The view is lovely, and the space is so homey that we actually spent more time than usual staying indoors and relaxing.

    Felisha2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a beautiful, quiet, off the beaten path location, Griff's place is perfect. A wonderful escape after a day in the bustle of tourist at Acadia and a great base for visiting Schoodic and other points east. Convenient to the park and Ellsworth without being in the main tourist routes. Bre sure to meet Griff for fun conversation and great tips on what to do during your stay.

    Paul2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Griff's place is wonderful! It had everything we needed and more; it was clean, had a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and an amazing view of the ocean. All in all my husband, myself and our pup had an amazing time staying at Griff's and would definitely stay here again!

    Ruth2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Griff is a great host and very helpful in what are the best and most popular places to eat and visit in the area. His gardens are beautiful and the beach and its views were beautiful as well.

    Kevin2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place. Views of the bay are spectacular. Make sure you peek out the window at all hrs of the night, because the moon cast such a beautiful view on the water. Griff's suggestions where spot on . Make sure you walk the beach it is so relaxing. Loved the opportunity to be able to cook our own meals and sit and watch the wild life and lobster boats. A real hidden gem ,would not hesitate to go back. Thanks Griff

  • Beautiful Place. Views are amazing right on the water. Comfortable and clean. Griff is a great host. 35-40 minute drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Free shuttle services were nice and easy to use in and out of Acadia National Park. Ellsworth area is also a closer, nice town with dinning options.

  • We'd been looking forward to a cozy, wooded retreat and some gorgeous hikes in the Acadia region all year, and Val and Tobin's place exceeded expectations. It was just what we hoped for: a clean, modern, cozy and well-equipped space away from the bustle yet close enough to the park. We even welcomed the wet, rainy weather because it meant a day reading by the fire, exploring local antique shops and recommendations from the hosts, and getting some much-needed rest. We hiked a couple days at Acadia and at their urging, we cooked our own lobster (they had all the needed supplies there). When it rained, we went to the nearby beach and watched it gust across the water. We're already dreaming about coming back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

    Kallie2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Val and Tobin's place. The location is a little outside of Acadia, away from the crowds of Bar Harbor, but close enough to drive into the park everyday with no issue. Val and Tobin really put a lot of heart into the space and it comes through. The house was spotless and bed and furniture comfy as well. The fireplace was terrific after a long day of hiking and being outside around MDI. They also provided a really helpful guide to the area to help sift through all the food and hiking choices that we were faced with. The local beach just down the road was also a nice bonus as it was a scenic spot just a couple minutes away and did not necessitate a drive to MDI. We already hope to come stay again at the guest house next time we are visiting Acadia.

    Matthew2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Val & Tobin's property is very private and peaceful! The large floor to ceiling windows beside the wood fireplace make for amazing views day and night. The stars are so beautiful in the night sky, and the modern design is stunning! We would come back in a second!

    Dylan2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This space was perfect for our romantic weekend. The fireplace was wonderful, and all the necessary amenities were available.

    Ericka2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Val and Tobin’s place! The second we pulled up and opened our car doors the air smelled like fresh pine, the outdoor space is stunning. Val and Tobin had such wonderful little touches inside the cabin. We really enjoyed being able to brew tea, and they left us home made jam and some local beers to enjoy, it was so thoughtful! The bed was so comfortable and the space was so clean. Val and Tobin were great with communication. We hit a snag while starting our first fire in the home and we called them with questions and they immediately answered and were so helpful! Thank you guys for such a memorable weekend/wedding anniversary! We will be back! - Erin and Tom

  • Lovely place to stay! Really excellent location off the beaten path. We spent a week here, exploring Acadia and the beaches nearby. The guide that the hosts provided pointed us to excellent local food and helped us plan almost all our hikes and adventures. Thanks so much!

  • We absolutely loved staying in this guesthouse! Super comfy bed, kitchen space to cook breakfast or dinner, guestbook of recommendations for food/activities/off the beaten path areas. Highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Acadia area looking for a place to relax at a very affordable rate! Thanks again Val and Tobin!

  • Wonderfully quiet and relaxing place. Pictures are spot on. The place is a little off the beaten path but a really great area if you’re looking to get away from it all! But close enough to some really great exploring and tourist spots.

Enjoy our cozy, well equipped cabin nestled in the woods of Maine. Make s’mores around the campfire on the patio, cook Maine lobsters, (fresh from the Captain), in the well stocked kitchen or just relax in the swing on the covered porch. Private, yet close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor (30 minutes) as well as L.L. Bean Outlet (10 minutes) Schoodic Point and Down East Maine. This place is a must stay...
  • Oh my gosh... we loved the cozy cabin! The cabin was exactly as described and pictured!! So peaceful and quiet. We loved the fire pit!! The cabin was spotless!!! We would go back for sure!!

  • Melissa’s place was very cozy and it was located about 35 minutes from Acadia National Park. It was a secluded area so no noise or anyone to bother you. It was a nice two bedroom place with 1 bathroom. The TV was located upstairs and none in the bedrooms but that wasn’t an issue as we were so tired after hiking all day. Grocery store pretty close if you want to buy a few things. The location was easy to find. The WiFi was really good for such a secluded area. Overall a great place to stay! Thank you!

  • Great amenities (kitchen, TV, wash, dryer) and clean space. Nice cabin feel. About a 30 minute drive from bar harbor.

  • Very nice cabin! We stayed for 3 nights. Spacious and quaint, way better than a hotel stay! Close to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and other points of interest in the area. The owner's were very nice and helpful. They thought of everything to make the stay very relaxing! Highly recommended and would definitely stay again in the future.

  • This place was perfect for our stay, it was stunning, quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen is great for cooking in and access to a coffee machine was lovely each morning. If you're thinking of visiting Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park this is a wonderful place to stay.

    Hannah2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was wonderful. Very clean, quiet, and well cared for. We didn't get to meet our hosts but Melissa was very informative about the area and provided pamphlets for places of interest. At Bar Harbor there are boat tours that take you sightseeing and teach you some history about the islands - definitely reccomend along with Sand Beach and Echo Lake, and if you're up for hiking (or driving) up Cadillac Mtn the scenic views are amazing. Everything was great, just what we hoped for :)

  • The house sits on a beautiful, extremely quiet and secluded bay which is great for paddling. The host provides two kayaks if you don't have your own. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and even a coffee grinder if you decide to cook. Beautiful sunsets. Deer walked through the yard most mornings. An exceptional place for a getaway.

  • The Red Roof Cottage was an exceptional place to stay during our visit to the Acadia National Park. Sue and Glenn, the owners, maintained a great communication before, during, and after our stayed. They are people easy to talk to and like. Excellent hosts. The cottage is spotlessly clean. It has everything that you may need for your daily activities. This cottage is close to supermarkets, restaurants, and attractions. Excellent location. The house is truly a home away from home.

    Robert2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sue & Glenn are truly SUPER HOSTS!! You will be hard pressed to find another place like it. The Red Roof Cottage has all the thoughtful touches that you need for your stay. In addition, Sue & Glenn are very attentive and provide you with great local suggestions to make your trip most enjoyable. We cannot say enough about them and their place. • Sue and Glen are very accommodating and thoughtful people. The house has been lovingly remodeled and tastefully decorated. It is clean and comfortable. We slept soundly all three nights and ate breakfast and dinner there each day (Shaw’s market is 5 minutes ).

  • Such a cute little cottage, tucked away in a quiet area, but plenty close to tons of things to do! We visited Acadia National Park most of the days, and the cottage was a cozy place to come back to every night. Thoughtfully decorated, and such great hosts!!!

A unique guest house in the woods of Maine. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park but removed from the hustle and bustle. We have a comprehensive guidebook of suggestions for our guests. For guests who previously visited Lamoine Modern Guest House under Val and Tobin's care, we are continuing their tradition of hosting and look forward to welcoming you! After visiting Lamoine Modern Guest House for three consecutive years, we are happy to host others.
This small modern house has everything you need for an awesome stay in Downeast Maine: the most comfortable queen sized bed, a full kitchen and access to the herb garden, a full bathroom, an outdoor shower (in season), and an indoor fireplace for cool evenings. There is also a lawn with lounge chairs and great for stargazing at night. There is a fold out couch that will accommodate a third person, but be aware that the house is open plan without separation between bedroom and living room. There is another rental on the property. From the house, you can walk (5 mins) to Lamoine Beach- a quiet, sandy/rocky ocean beach with amazing views of Mount Desert Island where you can hangout, swim or skip rocks. The house is located about 20 minutes drive from Ellsworth (groceries, restaurants, shops) and 40 minutes from Bar Harbor (restaurants, bars, music, shops, whale watching, Acadia National Park) and 40 minutes from Winter Harbor and Schoodic Peninsula (restaurants, art, music, hiking , swimming, biking and authentic, quiet fishing villages) While there is no public transportation available, we are glad to give you local advice about places to eat, hike, swim, and explore. After a day of activities, return to your quiet, starry skied retreat in the woods. Bring your bicycles, rent kayaks locally, swim in fresh and salt water. High speed wireless internet and radio available. No TV. Sheets and towels included. Fully stocked pantry, condiments in the fridge, quality cooking gear and an outside BBQ grill are all available for you.
The guesthouse is a short walk from our local beach and removed from the bustle of Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. Stay with us for a nice quiet place to begin and end your days exploring the local coast.

  • We would give 6 stars if we could! Luis has a wonderful space about 30 minutes from Acadia and 15 minutes from Ellsworth. For us, it was close enough to everything but also secluded enough so that it felt like a getaway. It was the perfect place to serve as a home base the days that we were there. The cottage was clean, had great amenities and updated appliances, and was a great place to enjoy the sunset and relax after hiking for the day. We hope to book again! Thanks, Luis!

  • Hoover's Cottage is as pictured and described; comfortable cottage with a beautiful view. While away from the fray, it is very convenient to Acadia NP/MDI and the whirlpool tub was great for sore muscles after long mountain hikes. Deer greeted us in the field around the cottage morning and evening. Luis was a great host; friendly and responsive. We would recommend Hoover's Cottage without reservation!

  • If you are looking for a quiet, secluded, feels-like-home, home base from which to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor, this is the place for you! A short and scenic 30-minute drive to Acadia, Hoover's Cottage Retreat is extremely clean, has very comfortable beds, a large kitchen with a top-of-the-line fridge, jacuzzi, and great WiFi. Luis' extra touches such as ice packs in the freezer, water filter pitcher in the fridge, trail maps, and extra propane for the grill made our stay even better. The front porch offers views of beautiful sunsets over the lake and a deer family of four, feeding at dusk. Luis is a very conscientious host, checking on us and always responding quickly and courteously. We would definitely stay here again!

Welcome to your home away from home in Bar Harbor while visiting Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. This cozy, affordable getaway retreat offers superior privacy in a quiet rural and forested setting. Spectacular sunset views and a central location only minutes to trails, carriage road bike paths, and downtown. Saturday to Saturday only rental includes covered bicycle storage and free use of a canoe and car topping gear.
Step inside and admire the rugged cedar and hemlock beams that reach high to the pine board ceiling in the living area. Large windows and a full-size patio door look out over ancient apple trees and a small meadow were white-tailed deer and snowshoe hares stop by. Whip o' wills and woodcock can be heard at dusk and frequently the call of coyotes reaches up from the nearby stream valley. At night the stars shine brighter than anywhere else on the East Coast. Our "Tribal Council" area sports an Adirondak Leanto, fire pit with wood, running water and a picnic table along our 400-foot nature trail. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchenette that includes a two-burner gas cooktop, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, full-size refridgerator/freezer, compact sink, dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots and pans. There is no oven but there is a gas grill with side burner (ideal for cooking up fresh local seafood in the cottage's clam, mussel and lobster pot) out on the porch/patio where there is a table and chairs for relaxing outdoors. Overhead there is a reading loft. The cottage is also stocked with field guides, maps, books and videos about the area's natural and human history. The cottage has free wireless broadband internet, a 14-inch LCD TV, with 200 cable channels and a DVD and VCR player. There are coloring books and videos for children. A Pack n' Play is available at no charge. There is good cellular telephone signal from the property. The Carriage House Cottage at Westard Farm comes fully furnished with everything you need for a relaxing, memorable stay. Our central location is perfect for launching your hiking, biking, wildlife watching or paddling trips. The cottage is located approximately 150 feet from the main private residence on land that was once a working dairy farm. There is an unattached garage in between. The clean, airy cabin includes a living room with gas log fireplace, a futon sofa/bed, chairs and a dining table and TV. The ground floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and bureau, hanging space for clothes, as well as a ceiling fan. Although there is no AC it often cools off quickly at night, especially on an island. There is also a ceiling fan in the living area and standing and portable fans as well. The bathroom has a vanity sink, toliet and shower with plenty of hot water and an electric heater. One set of linens and towels are provided for the week. For your outdoor adventures there's a daypack, umbrella, hiking sticks, portable cooler and headlamp. Note: due to local regulations we rent for full weeks only, Saturday to Saturday.
The Carriage House Cottage is in a rural area with widely-spaced single-family homes. It is just a mile from spectacular Eagle Lake and a main entrance to Acadia's motor-free carriage road network. Wildlife and birds abound. Woods abutting two sides of the property are designated forever wild by an easement held by Acadia National Park.
  • Comfortable cabin and cozy cabin with great location to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor.

  • The perfect place to visit acadia national park!

    Stéphanie2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful week at Earl and Roxie's cottage. It was an ideally-located home base for getting to all parts of the island, including the Quietside, where the hiking was excellent. Earl and Roxie have included many thoughtful touches that make the cottage feel like a home-away-from-home, from a lobster pot, headlamp, and grocery bags, to extra towels. The place was so comfortable that we were hoping that a rainy day would give us an excuse to stay in, but alas, the MDI weather was picture-perfect all week! We'll be back!

    Su-Jen2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was more than we expected. Just perfect. Earl and Roxie are wonderful hosts and truly love sharing their place and knowledge of Acadia with others. You won't be disappointed-we can't wait to visit again. Seems like the week flew by.

    Rhonda2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend a stay at Earl’s place. It had everything we wanted, and some things we didn’t realize we needed. Very cozy living space, and very clean. Earl’s personal touch and advice for using the canoe were wonderful. Wish we could have stayed another week!

    Brian2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home, super clean, neat& cozy. Great hosts! Perfect for my wife and me! Very close to town and all park related trips!

    Michael2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Earls cabin. Earl and Roxie are very friendly, warm and helpful. Don’t hesitate to book Earls cabin because you won’t regret it. It is nearby great hiking spots and Bar Harbor. We enjoyed it so much!

    Emilie2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Earl and Roxie are great hosts! Their proximity to Acadia alone is reason enough to book... 10 minutes. Even though the carriage house is on their property it has been done in such a way that there is plenty of privacy. The place is clean, charming and rustic but not too rustic! It is truly an oasis in Bar Harbor and we have every intention of returning.

This cabin #Berrymaine is located approx. 10 mi./20 min. from Mt. Desert Island. Close enough to access Acadia Nat'l Park, Bar Harbor, and Schoodic, but secluded enough to enjoy a quiet respite from the day’s activities. Best for couples/sm families. Pets OK.
This is a camp. For many families in Maine, having a camp (cabin) is a family tradition. Camps are often passed down through generations. This camp is on the one hand rustic, but it is comfortable with modern conveniences such as indoor heat and high speed internet. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a new comfy queen bed, and the other with a new bunk bed. A full kitchen (mini-refrigerator), a full bathroom, and a small heater for cool evenings makes your stay comfortable. The bedrooms do not have doors, however we have curtains for privacy between the bedrooms and kitchen/living area. There is also a mud room/entryway that provides additional room for your gear. The camp is far enough away from neighbors that you can leave the windows open at night, hearing the wind high in the trees. You will have solitude, quiet and be surrounded by the aroma of white pine and fir needles on a sunny day.
The camp is located about 10 minutes drive from Ellsworth (get groceries and other supplies here), 30 minutes from Bar Harbor (restaurants, bars, music, shops, whale watching), and 30 minutes from Winter Harbor and Schoodic Peninsula.
  • Very cozy cabin in wooded surroundings that were ideally private and quiet. Stocked with every essential needed ... just bring yourself and food! Easy drive to Acadia National Park and MDI. Our stay could not have been better! Thank you!

    Saule2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a awesome place to get away especially during the fall colors, saw tons of deer on the property! Great overall stay, clean and quiet.

    Brian2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is perfectly named. Simple Solitude! In our 5 nights, we never saw another soul anywhere near our cabin (apart from our constant companions, a doe and her fawn, who we saw nearly twice a day, every day). Rebecca is an extremely thoughtful and sweet host. She made my husband and I feel like royalty with special touches of decorations and gifts as we celebrated our honeymoon. The place is immaculately clean and just spacious enough to still feel like a cozy cabin without being uncomfortable. Rebecca made it extremely pet friendly with a dog blanket for the couch, balls, treats and bowls ready and waiting. The large picture window lets in lots of room and beautiful views of nature. Overall our stay was one of the most wonderful weeks of my life (though the newly-wed bliss may have had something to do with that, too). Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts. We can't wait to be back.

    Brianna2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca is very responsive and keeps in touch with you until you are back home. The beds are comfortable and the quiet and solitude of this place is good for the soul. The location is great for visits to both Acadia and Bangor. Take your time and explore the area. The people are all wonderful.

    Donella2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was great to stay in Rebecca's cabin. It was super clean and they gave us great tips regarding Acadia and activities. The only thing to be aware of is that this is still about 45 min by car from Bar Harbor and most of the Acadia hiking trails.

    Immo2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Place was extremely clean. It was peaceful and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for. The road did not have much traffic which was great since my son wanted to ride his bike when we’re we’re hanging out at the cabin. It was a short distance to Acadia park and Bar Harbor for all the hiking and biking we wanted to do. The week was absolutely beautiful.

    Samantha2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca’s cabin was adorable and so peaceful. It’s perfect for a couple or close family as it’s cozy and intimate. It does get a bit chilly in September so bring layers! Thank you for a great trip Rebecca!

    Rachel2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca was such an awesome host. The cabin was totally cozy and relaxing. Barely heard a sound all week besides sounds from wildlife and nature. Come stay here if you need a mental break away from busy life. Super easy drive to ocean and Acadia national park. We will be back again.

  • Lynn’s home is beautiful and is in a great location with a short drive to bar harbor and Acadia national park! She was super sweet and helpful :)

  • My mother and I spent the last three days of a 10-day trip along coastal Maine at Lynn’s lovely Quilted Cottage. Conveniently located approximately 1/4 mile from Lemoine State Park and approximately 30-minutes’ drive from the Mount Desert Island NPS park loop road, this quiet home is the perfect retreat for those who seek to escape the hustle bustle, but would like easy access to some of Maine’s most gorgeous sites. The space — a quiet bedroom with a double bed, a private bathroom, the kitchen and most of the first floor — is comfortable and neat as a pin. Lynn gave us complete privacy but made herself available when we had questions. Her invitation to join her and her friends at a music jam session in her home was the highlight of our trip and an unforgettable experience.

A relaxing spot located in the woods of Lamoine and only 18 miles away from Acadia National park. Take a short walk to Marlboro beach where you can enjoy beautiful views of Mount Desert Island. A short drive down the road you can find Bloomfield park, Lamoine State Park and Lamoine beach. All lovely spots to check out during your stay with us.
Our newly constructed energy efficient barn has my husbands shop on the first floor and a modern 2 bedroom apartment above. We sustainably harvested the lumber from our property to construct it. We believe our barn will give you a relaxing place to stay while you enjoy Down East Maine.
  • Michelle was an exceptional host full of small but important attentions. She was also very responsive and available. The place is enchanting, both in the middle of quiet, peaceful and pleasant countryside and at the same time close to all amenities. The chalet is perfectly equipped and decorated in a sober, uncluttered and pleasant way. I recommend this accommodation and would gladly return If the opportunity arises. Thanks again Michelle. Our pleasure, from young french people charmed by Acadia. Michael

  • It’s a very nice place to stay for a family retreat. Everything in the barn are super clean and the barn is very well-equipped. The neighborhood is quite and safe. My family and I will definitely recommend it!

  • This place was amazing! We came to the area to hike and the hosts gave us amazing recommendations and were so quick to communicate! There are a few stairs to get to the door but the rest is amazing. Parking is easy. The instructions to enter were clear and easy. The information provided before our arrival gave us a great start. There is a washer dryer which came in handy for a couple hikers. The space is spacious which we loved. The wood trim and floor are just beautiful! Everything seemed brand new. I loved cooking on the gas stove too. There was nothing not to like. It was warm and cozy. We highly recommend!!

  • It's a very beautiful, inviting, bright, elevated, and extremely cozy space. Perfect for a short vacation or a spontaneous getaway. Michelle was particularly great at communicating due to google maps not properly recognizing the address but I contacted google to update the address so I hope this won't be a problem for future guests. Really enjoyed my stay here!

    Julie2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was an incredible host and her place made us feel at home. We had high expectations based on the great reviews we read, but her place completely blew us away. If you’re looking for a quaint, high-end, fully-loaded place in the woods, this is perfect. They offered amenities that both my husband and I enjoyed. The place was spotless and smelled so clean. The furniture is so comfortable and had everything we needed and more. The pictures don’t do it justice. By far the best place we stayed on our trip!

    Jennifer2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very clean & welcoming. Michelle offered a ton of information, which is always very appreciated.

  • We had a wonderful long weekend away here, and would be happy to stay here again and recommend to others! Sparking clean, especially the bathroom and kitchen where I’m particularly nitpicky. Nice little touches made our one year old daughter at ease: pack and play with sheets, the pack and play set up fits in the closet, so our little one slept 13+ hours a night, a high chair, the kids cups and kids books. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment for us to make blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We used this as our home base for our Bar Harbor trip and while it’s a touch further away than our prior stays, it’s still plenty close to go out to Acadia, come back, rest up and go back out for dinner.

    Tanya2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn was the perfect spot for a week vacation in Maine. Super clean with all the amenities needed to feel at home (kitchen, washer/dryer, toiletries). It is secluded/private and surrounded by beautiful trees but was only 30-40 minutes from everywhere on MDI that we wanted to go. There were so many personal touches like fresh flowers, kids books for our toddler, pancake mix and frozen blueberries for our first morning, and a list of local recommendations. Be sure to follow the directions provided by Michelle as our GPS was over a mile off from the house and it was hard to find our first night.

This is a tiny cabin, 10 ft by 12 ft with a loft. The loft will sleep two, and there is also a pullout for a third person on the ground floor. The cabin has solar lights. There is no bathroom in the cabin, but guests may use the bathroom in the main house, about a hundred yards away. We also have four very clean, well maintained out-houses. This cabin was built for my own personal use, and I can promise that it is very quiet and peaceful. Guests may also use our kitchen.

Three bedroom house tucked away in the woods and yet just a short walk to the rocky shores of downeast Maine. Enjoy the peaceful Maine seaside community of Hancock Point or drive a short distance to explore Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
The house is a quiet spot, tucked in the woods off of the main road that stretches the length of Hancock Point. Walk or drive to the pier for kayaking, swimming (it's cold!) or meandering past beautiful summer cottages.
Hancock Point sits just across Frenchman Bay from Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The views of Mount Desert Island from Hancock Point are gorgeous. There is a year-round community on Hancock Point that swells in the summertime as folks return to summer homes that have been in their families for generations. The small Hancock Point Library opens for the summer months, as do the village clay tennis courts (fees apply) and the Hancock Point Chapel. Crocker House Restaurant and Inn sits near the end of Hancock Point and operates nine months of the year; there are other restaurants within a ten minute drive of the house. There is a lovely piece about Hancock Point in The New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/12/travel/havens-in-summer-you-can-go-home-again.html Ellsworth is the nearest city (a city by Maine's standards; it feels more like a small town if you're coming from a place like Boston or Chicago) with two large supermarkets, a natural food store, live performance venue, an LL Bean outlet, and other commerce and culinary adventures. While a swim across the bay to Mount Desert Island is just two miles, it's a 25 mile drive to the entrance of MDI's Acadia National Park and a 28 mile drive to Bar Harbor. You can also explore the Schoodic Peninsula, a section of Acadia National Park that rests on the mainland near Winter Harbor, Maine. Schoodic is a 25 mile drive from Hancock. In essence, Hancock Point is the halfway point between Mount Desert Island's section of Acadia National Park and the Schoodic Peninsula's section of Acadia National Park.
  • This was our second time staying in Hancock. Our trip this time was just as wonderful as the first! Highly recommend.

    Briana2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • The home was immaculate and furnished with everything we needed for our week-long stay in September. The kitchen was well-stocked with the necessary pots and pans, coffeemaker, and utensils,as well as a cabinet filled with spices. There is a dishwasher and a full-sized fridge and lots of counter space to boot. The gas grill was a great option for us for grilling steaks for one of our family dinner nights. One of the most attractive aspects of the home, however, is its three separate bedrooms – a master suite with spacious master bath on first level for Mom and Dad and dedicated, independent bedrooms with shared bath on 2nd level for our two grown adult children. For the master bath/shower unit, one should be aware the height of the edge of the bath/shower unit maybe too high for folks with knee / hip ailments. There are welcoming skylights, lots of windows throughout the house, and a quiet country location that complemented our visit to Acadia National Park area. Although, we were instructed not to use the wood stove, we were comfortable with having the ability to put on heat for multiple zoned thermostats for when the early pre-dawn tempertures dipped below 40 degrees and turned it off after breakfast was done. Strangely enough, we knew ahead of time there was no cable, much less a TV to watch in the home, but honestly, it wasn’t really missed for the time we were there, as we left early most mornings after breakfast and returned late, often after 8pm, for dinner prep. Internet wifi access worked very well for our phones and laptop – and we were able to stream a Patriots and Red Sox game on 2 evenings. A couple of things to be aware of: 1) there is a combo VHS/DVD player in the master bedroom (not sure why this unit had not been upgraded to a Blu Ray player as we could not play the BDs we had brought with us); 2) the lighting in the home was muted throughout with many fixtures available – yet rooms were still dimly lit for reading or cooking / food prep areas; 3) the bed in the master suite is a Queen so, if you’re tall like we are, be prepared for less leg room; 4) you should take extra care when putting trash in the outdoor trash can to snap lock the lid so that the local racoon does not spew the trash can across the yard – or you can move the trash can to the deck area as critters are less likely to approach the deck door area. Overall, we highly recommend Hancock Point Hideaway Air BnB for any family with four members that each need their own space and it is a place with the ability to prepare family meals and sleep comfortably as you embark on your outdoor adventures of the surrounding areas of Schoodic, Hancock, MDI, Northeast and Southwest Harbor. Also, a nice added local feature was the home down the same road that offered a vegetable stand to supply us with local summer/salad vegetables.

  • What a wonderful home and beautiful destination! Sarah and David's house had everything we needed and their helpful suggestions (and speedy response to our questions) made our stay a true vacation. We loved BBQing, watching the meteor showers and spending the days hiking the mountains of Acadia.

    Leslie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and David's place is just great. Our favorite things were the screened in porch and the deck and the surrounding woods. I don't think pictures could really do justice to the setting. The house is set back from the road (and the road it's on is a beautiful drive), and while there are neighbors it feels like they are pretty far away and you are surrounded by woods. It also has a lovely yard. The house is quite comfortable - the kitchen stocked well with dishes and pans (we did a lot of cooking), and there is also a grill, on the deck. Sarah and David made clear they could easily be contacted, but we only had occasion to communicate at the beginning and end of our trip - everything else we needed was thoughtfully explained in the guest book. When we left, they were even kind enough to send us a Lego guy our toddler left behind. A few things that may have been noted elsewhere but I missed them, so I'll mention: If you bring a dog, you'll need to use the retractable gate to keep the dog from going upstairs (because there is light-colored carpeting up there). In our case this was completely fine, and actually worked nicely because we didn't really want the toddler upstairs either, but depending on your relationship with your dog and where you are planning to sleep, you might want to be aware. Also, the only bathroom on the downstairs floor is connected to the master bedroom and you have to walk through the bedroom to get to it. Again, not a problem for us, but something to know. There are some really nice walks in the area and very close by (two on the same road as the house), so you do not need to go far at all to get a glimpse of the main woods and the beautiful sea coast. If you have a small child like we do, the rail trail is awesome. Bring bug spray! And enjoy! We loved it.

    Tareth2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely spot to use as base as you explore a beautiful part of our country. Everything you might need has been thought of. Be sure to go to Tidal Falls while you are there to see the power of nature.

  • We stayed for 4 days and really enjoyed our stay. The house was perfect for us (4 adults and 3 kids). We loved the space and enjoyed diners on the terrace. Very nice tips for visits (Carter’s beach) and the amazing ice cream place (Moores’ moo) which was a hit for both adults and kids. Of course we enjoyed Acadia national park though it was a good 50min drive. We highly recommend this place! Thanks again for hosting us

    Adrien2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • David and Sarah are great hosts and everything about the house was great!

    Derick2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a wonderful home for family trips or couples’ trips. Hancock is beautiful (go to the cove) and it’s a great place to escape after a long day of hiking/seeing Acadia. It is about 40-50 minutes to most points of interest in MDI, so be prepared to drive a lot

This space goes by "the little house" (emphasis on little), although it is more of a lofted studio apartment. The warm wooden surfaces lend a feeling of rustic romance, while deep seated furnishings and fresh features create a summery lounge-like space. Below deck is an open-air garage looking directly on an expanse of sheep/cow-laden pastures, which is the Peggy Rockefeller Farm of the College of the Atlantic. Location is 10 min drive to Bar Harbor, and 5 min to Acadia National Park entrance.
The downstairs garage space is a perfect spot to drink coffee in the morning sun, enjoy the sun setting on the farm in the evening, play a couple games of ping pong. One can step right out onto a sizable lawn space which is a part of the 7-acre property. Plenty of room for frisbee, badminton, or just laying on the grass. Our garden is just a few paces away, another great place to chill and eat lunch at the picnic table. The apartment itself is complete with kitchen, washer/dryer, and a bathroom with claw-foot tub containing hand-held showering faucet.
Our neighborhood is really quite unique as far as Mount Desert Island goes: the rolling pastures offer serene, expansive views in the day, and a wide-open starry night sky. The ocean air rolls in from the cove at the end of Norway Drive, and one passes old farmhouses and the historic Stone Barn Farm- just at the bottom of the hill- on their way to town or the park. The property itself is large with space on all sides.
  • This place is amazing - you should rent it! Maya and Noah are perfect hosts and staying on their beautiful property is a real treat. No kidding, stop looking and just book this place!

  • Noah and Maya’s place is a cozy gem in a beautiful and quiet location. It’s a great place to come home to after a day of hiking, or to veg out and read in front of the fire on a rainy day. The hosts were super friendly and had great recommendations for where to eat and drink. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back again.

    Marie2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Maya and Noah’s little barn! Very beautiful and stylish place and located just a few minutes drive to Acadia National Park. Our dog loved it too and spotted several deer and birds! The bed was super comfortable up in the loft nook and the sheets smelled like fresh laundry! The fireplace made it extra cozy on a day where it rained all day! I highly recommend this charming spot!

    Gina2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The little house was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. The location was ideal, the house was stylish and comfortable. It was a perfect getaway for us. We loved spending time on the property and we were a quick drive to the park or restaurants. One of our favorite Airbnb experiences! We'll definitely return and recommend to our family/friends.

Come visit us at our peaceful home in Hancock, Maine. We are nestled between the perfect trifecta of Ellsworth, Schoodic Point and Bar Harbor/ Acadia National Park. You would be staying in a private room that is separate from the main house. It overlooks the private, 2 acre back yard that offers a spacious deck, fire pit and a Webber grill. The bed is a futon with a full 10 inch comfy mattress. The bathroom is for your use only but is in the main house. Come visit for a relaxing getaway!
The space is very bright and happy with lots of natural light. Cordless shades give plenty of privacy and darkness if desired. There is an electric fireplace that heats the space nicely if the nights get chilly and a fan to keep the space cool during the day. The TV has a ROKU for Netflix for all your streaming needs. There is a coffee maker to make it feel a little more like home. There is also a mid size fridge right outside the space with fresh water just for you. Step outside onto the deck with two zero gravity chairs and an electric Webber grill. We have a large fire pit outback with an apple tree and grapevines.
  • Anna and Zac's place was very clean and cozy. The futon mattress was really comfortable. Location was only 40mins from Bar Harbour, excellent value for money!

  • Perfect for what we were looking for while visiting Acadia.

    Michelle2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little back room in the woods. Anna is so friendly. Took us around 30-40 mins to drive into Bar Harbor each day.

    Teyla2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Anna and Zach was great. Check in was as easy as can be and the house is in a great location not too far from Acadia NP and Bar Harbour. The room is lovely and private. Would stay again.

    Elisabeth2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's place is a convenient and charming option if you plan on visiting Acadia and want to avoid lodging in touristy Bar Harbor. The room is a cozy and private space with a heater to keep you warm on brisk nights (check out the stars!). We drove out to Acadia on three days and managed to hike about eight trails. We even managed to find another trail near the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse on a day of heavy rainfall. Great dining options in nearby Bar Harbor, Ellsworth, and even a lovely place in Hancock called Ironbound. Enjoy your stay!

    Kristin2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Anna and Zach were amazing hosts! They made us feel very comfortable in their home! They are so kind and welcoming!

    Kate2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a charming room at a family home. The hosts were very kind and sweet. Everything was spotlessly clean and Anna and Zach went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy. We used the kitchen to make supper twice and it was perfectly comfortable to share with them. We had our own bathroom in the house. It wasn't any problem to walk across the deck to get to the bathroom

    Maureen2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anna's place is in a good location, quiet and surrounded with trees. It is an easy access to Schoodic Point, which is well worth the trip (part of Acadia NP on the oypther side of the bay and 40 minutes to get to theAcadia Park on Mount Desert Island. The room was comfortable, spacious, and although the bathroom was in the main house the door is at kitty corner to the door to your room. Anna was very accommodating. • The stay here was amazing. From checking in to morning breakfast paired with good coffee and conversation to the checkout, we felt like one of the family. Karen and Greg are courteous, fun and an inspiring pair with how they take care of the house and made improvements to make me and my boyfriend’s stay comfortable. They had daily info posted for us to gauge the best days for hiking Acadia National Park or walking Bar Harbor. You can really tell they love what they do. I highly recommend this place for great hospitality, a short drive to the park, great food nearby and two cats who make the place feel like home.

  • Karen and Greg were great! The room was super clean and the house was really great. We really enjoyed the tips and advice for what to do in Bar Harbor and what hikes to do in Acadia National Park. Since it was cruise season, we especially liked their tips on hikes to avoid given how crowded it can be. The breakfast with bananas, toast, hard-boiled egg, tea and coffee were just what we needed to start our day. We would definitely stay here again if we were to go back to Acadia.

  • Excellent BnB. The hosts were fantastic. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. The breakfasts were quite good. I’d be willing to come here again.

  • Great trip, Agung told us good stories and had knowledgeable background of the places. He was punctual and professional.

  • We can't say enough nice things about our stay at Chocolate Chip B&B. Sue and Eric were very responsive from the very beginning, which was especially helpful when we realized that we would be checking in later than usual. Eric was there to get us checked in later that night and showed us around the house. Our bedroom and bathroom were great. Everything was clean and neat, and there were chocolate chip cookies and candies in the room :) The area around the B&B is quiet but not too remote (great for a relaxing getaway). Breakfast both mornings was amazing, and both Sue and Eric made sure that we were comfortable and well fed. Eric took the time to give us an overview of the area, complete with maps, before we headed out for the first day. We didn't have time for all of the things he pointed out, but there were great tips. Bar Harbor was an easy drive, and the beach down the road from the B&B was nice to walk around. There are also restaurant options in the surrounding towns, so we opted to eat in Ellsworth for dinner once we returned from Bar Harbor. We were pretty tired when we returned that evening, so we didn't get to take advantage of the cozy lounge area, board games, or books (SO many books) that were available to us. There were just so many great touches to the B&B that just made everything so comfortable. We highly recommend Chocolate Chip B&B!

  • So, so delightful! Can’t recommend them enough. Sue’s food is incredible, as is all of their hospitality. Eric gave us amazing tips and let us borrow maps and guidebooks that really helped us have the best experience.

  • We had a wonderful stay and really appreciated all the special touches, the awesome breakfasts and the excellent tips on what to see in Acadia. Enjoyed it so much that my wife wants to live there!

    Jeff2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so unique in all of the crafts and books that decorate this special home. Susan is an incredible Baker and you will be sure to enjoy the chocolate chip cookies and whatever special breakfast she serves.

  • If you’re considering staying here, your instincts are spot-on! I’ve stayed at several AirBnBs and this one truly takes the cake (or cookie, as it were). The space is welcoming and cozy, but without sacrificing privacy. We passed the other couple staying during our time and said hello, but otherwise felt like we had the place to ourselves - and enjoyed breakfast in our own little window nook. Speaking of breakfast... oh my, so delicious! As my travel buddy pointed out, actual B&Bs with home cooked meals are more the exception than the rule... and after returning from a sunrise hike, Sue & Eric greeted us with a 2-course breakfast, featuring Belgian waffles with strawberries and fresh whipped cream. NOM NOM. They also have a well-stocked tea and coffee station available 24/7 as well as snacks laid out, which we took full advantage of while lounging in the comfy living room in between our outdoor adventures. As other reviewers have mentioned, Sue and Eric are just the loveliest people - and getting to briefly chat with their adorable granddaughter made me feel very much at home. Honestly, there are no drawbacks, only unending reasons to stay here if you’re heading to Acadia or just in the area. Even the 25-35 minute drive into the park itself is a recommendation - we had a quaint retreat awaiting us after hiking our butts off... You will be hard-pressed to find anything approaching the Chocolate Chip B&B’s atmosphere or the hospitality of its lovely owners. I certainly hope to make a return pilgrimage to Acadia and this B&B!

    Lindsay2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Eric are perfect hosts. Sue is an amazing cook/baker and was very accommodating of my husband's dairy allergy. Eric gave us tips for things to do around town and in the park. Our room was super cozy and spotless. We highly recommend staying here.

  • Anne is a wonderful host. She is dedicated to ensuring you feel at home while visiting. We sat by the fire all night with a hot cup of tea. The space is cozy and welcoming, perfect after a long day of hiking and exploring!

    Hannah2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for the quaintest cutest little farm house to relax in, Anne's home is the spot. I can't say enough about how lovely our stay here was! Shes the cutest and the house is so cozy and inviting. We went in the fall and it was gorgeous. During the summer I know she has a beautiful lush garden and for winter I'd love the idea of heading back home to relax with the fire burning. Stay here. Stay as long as you possibly can!

    Michelle2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Anne's place is great! Anne was a wonderful host and we would definitely stay again.

  • Anne is great host! Do not hesitate, just book it! The room is big, the bathroom is clean and all yours, and you are going to feel at home :) The breakfast is also great! Enjoy your stay!

  • Our stay in Anne's farmhouse was one of the best Airbnb experiences we've ever had. Anne is an amazing host, so welcoming, kind, and generous. Her farmhouse is cozy and warm, beautifully furnished, clean, and filled with books and music. We awoke every morning to delicious breakfasts and a sweet note from Anne to start us on our day. In the evenings we loved reading by the toasty fire in the woodstove and marveling at how at home we felt. We were sad to leave and look forward to being able to return. I highly recommend Anne’s farmhouse to anyone visiting the Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park area. Anne is very special and so is her home.

    Victoria2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was welcoming and warm upon our arrival. We enjoyed our time immensely; the woodstove was stocked with wood and created a cozy atmosphere. The old farmhouse setting was perfect!

    Sarah2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This space is a real gem! Beautiful old farmhouse with amazing decor and touches. Very near to Acadia, but it's such a great place I'd almost want to stick around the garden and fruit trees to enjoy it. We loved it and little things like offering a pack n play were a welcome touch that really made us feel at home.

  • Rich's home is wonderful! Peaceful, relaxing, beautiful. We had a fabulous time and wish we could have stayed longer. Rich was very friendly and good at communicating, even while he was on a trip. We loved the larger room, with comfortable bed and couch. Thank you Rich for sharing your home with us!

    Michelle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you stay with Rich you'll be glad you did! It's a beautiful private home in the woods on the water, I can't imagine a better place to land for a few days. I saw a family of deer every morning grazing in the yard, and enjoyed gorgeous sunrises with my cup of coffee out on the deck. Rich is a super friendly guy and has great tips for what to do in the area. Acadia is an easy 40min drive to get to. I stayed in the queen room, its very spacious and had everything I needed. If I go back to that area I would definitely stay at Rich's house again!

  • We had a very easy check in process. The home was very clean and nice. Rich told us to make ourselves at home and if we needed anything just let him know. The sunset in the backyard was incredible and the deer and rabbits were cool to see.

  • Rich was am absolute delight ! So helpful and had great local tips (including where to get some great food). The space was so clean. I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. And the property is BEAUTIFUL! Worth every penny. Pictures dont do it justice. I even got to watch a sunset on the deck overlooking the water. Absolutely magical and the place was only 30 minutes from Arcadia! Highly recommend. Cant wait to come back.

This is a quiet neighborhood back in the woods. Please respect our neighbors and drive slowly on the road, there are dogs and/or children at every house. The silence will resonate and on still mornings you'll be able to hear the lobster boats headed out to work.
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Val and Tobin’s place again. It is better than described - a true retreat with thoughtful touches, modern design, and a stunning place to stay. Our family has returned multiple times and this is the perfect spot to stay while exploring MDI and visiting the Lamoine beach. Thank you for hosting!

  • Truly one of the best Airbnb’s we have stayed in. Stunning space with all the amenities of home while being wonderfully secluded in the woods but only a 2 minute drive to the beach! Easy drive to bar harbor and Acadia National Park, all the necessary accoutrements to cook lobster at the house, truly just a wonderful place and the hosts were so thoughtful!

  • This is an amazing house located in a remote area surrounded by trees, but still within 30-45 minutes of Bar Harbor and Acadia. The house itself is very modern and Val and Tobin have provided all of the amenities you could possibly be looking for. We would reccomend this spot to any friends visiting the area and you certainly would not be disappointed.

    Samantha2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Just book this place. Seriously, you won't regret it. The house is beautiful, clean, and although minimalistic in style, there was not one thing we wanted that they didn't think of. The outdoor tub is a dream, especially after sore muscles from hiking. The screened in porch with grill made for the best dinners after a day of exploring. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with the essentials. Could not recommend this place enough!

Our new apartment is 100 feet from the North Atlantic's Frenchman Bay shore and 20 minutes from Acadia National Park. Two full bedrooms and a sleeping alcove (please note that this is listed as "third bedroom" because Airbnb does not have an option for a sleeping alcove), one full bathroom, a full cook's kitchen and semi-private shore access make this one of the best deals on the Maine coast.
We pride ourselves on offering a better choice for families and small group travelers, and we are thrilled to host folks from every corner of the world, and of all ethnicities . (Check out weekly prices!) Instead of a large home or a tiny seasonal cabin, we have all the comforts of home in a 1000 square foot apartment on 247 feet of shore front. Thirty feet of windows look toward the water of Frenchman Bay and the mountains of Acadia. The apartment is the ground level of a three level home, and we, the owners, live above. The breeze picks up off the ocean around 10 AM and so it's almost never too hot. Bugs get blown away and the shorebirds feast at low tide. Many guests enjoy just hanging out all day! Please note: If you want to "max out" the number of guests (5) there is only one bathroom!
Sometimes we hear that people wish they were closer to Bar Harbor and Acadia, but after a day on the island they come to appreciate the distance and quiet Lamoine offers. Nearby Ellsworth has all the stores you need and SeaCat's Rest is conveniently halfway between the two parts of Acadia, the island and Scoodic further east.

  • Barbs home is beautiful, cozy and so 'hom-y'. Photos do not do this home justice- we were blown away when we walked in the front door (so easy to get in, thanks barb!). Its very spacious and has an incredible deck on the back. The main bedroom opens to the deck letting in the natural light. Personally, I love that this community recycles 80% of the trash thrown away, composting and Barb has a mini garden outside. Definitely one of the best places I have stayed with this app.

  • Susan and Eric’s place is gorgeous, comfortable, and clean. There is a wide selection of books and board games. Susan and Eric were fun to talk to, and the breakfast we had (Belgian waffles with strawberries and home made whipped cream) was incredible. Would definitely stay again!

  • We honestly enjoyed our stay at Sue and Eric's place. The room was totally cosy and clean. One can truly see that the whole BnB was furnished with a lot of effort and love for details. Oh and breakfast is incredible! Sue and Eric were the perfect hosts. Very warm-hearted and welcoming. Thanks to them it felt like coming home every evening. We definitely recommend staying there!

  • What a wonderful time! We spent 5 nights at the Chocolate Chip B&B, while we explored all over down east Maine by day, and couldn’t have been happier with our experience! Everything from the moment we walked in was inviting and warm! The common area was cozy and warm, with plenty of books, tables & chairs for cards/games, and always available coffee. Our room was well appointed and comfortable with a meticulously clean bathroom. Sue’s homemade breakfast each morning was plentiful and delicious, and Eric’s tips on local sight seeing were spot-on! You can’t go wrong staying with them, and we hope to be there again soon!!

  • Susan and Eric run an amazing bed and breakfast. Located just 30 minutes from the national park, and 2 minutes from a local beach, the Chocolate Chip BnB is a great place to stay. Both Susan and Eric were very friendly and knowledgeable about all the fun and exciting things to do in and around the island. Eric even showed us on a map all of the best hidden hiking trails, and gave advice as to where to go kayaking. Susan's breakfasts were absolutely delicious and prepared us for several long days of hiking and climbing. The airbnb is outside of the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor making it the perfect place to wind down, read a book, and enjoy some homemade chocolate chip cookies after a long day of outdoor activity.

  • Susan and Eric were absolutely fantastic hosts. There were so many special touches and thoughtful details throughout the property and it was beyond cozy. Susan prepared us a delicious breakfast in the morning and was even accommodating of allergies and special request. Lovely people and a lovely place!

  • If you google bed and breakfast, this place should absolutely be the first result. It was very homey and you get such a welcoming feeling when you walk in not only from the decor, but from Susan and Eric's hospitality. They were very helpful with what to do in the area right off the bat, providing maps and brochures galore. The breakfast every morning was delicious, and she accommodates to dietary restrictions if needed. Our room was cleaned daily, with fresh sheets and homemade cookies (even separate gluten free ones for my girlfriend). I don't know how else to describe the stay here other than feeling like you are in a hallmark movie. Seriously, if I could give them 6 stars, I would. The experience staying here was above and beyond any place I've ever stayed. Susan told us this was her dream to own and operate this BnB, and it definitely shows.
