Drink your morning coffee as you walk the farm's picturesque blueberry fields and shoreline. At night, enjoy sitting around a cozy campfire toasting marshmallows. As you enjoy the scent of fir trees, salt air, and the unspoiled beauty of Downeast Maine, Relax. Spend several days with us exploring the farm or as a home base to venture to other locations around Downeast Maine and Canada.
The Elva P. Cabin is one of two rustic cabins nestled in the woods looking out onto the farm. The cabin has two full-size beds, a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with shower, and a front porch for those quiet nights sipping wine or early mornings drinking coffee. The cabin also has it's own outdoor space with a campfire pit and picnic table. Pets are welcomed. If the Elva P. Cabin is booked, please check out our Mary Adeline Cabin at Welch Farm.
Roque Bluffs is a small coastal town along the Englishman's Bay with a population of 300 and located about mid way between Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor and St. Stephen, New Brunswick Canada. Lobster Fishing and Blueberry farming is still a major source of revenue here. Located near the farm is the Roque Bluffs State Park. The park truly remains undiscovered by the masses. Comb the Park's beach, swim in it's freshwater pond, or hike one of it's hiking trails. A grocery store and the walkable downtown Machias is a 10 minute drive away. Several restaurants are a must try in the area. Interested in a two nation vacation, bring your passport. We are 1/2 hour from Campobello Island, Canada (home of President Roosevelt's cottage) and 1 hour from New Brunswick, Canada
  • Great little cabin to stay in on a trip.

    Ruth2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • You must visit Lisa's place. The scenery alone would bring me to this gorgeous farm. To then add accommodations that are quaint, clean easy to access and cute?! This place would sound too good to be true if we didn't visit it for ourselves. If you're looking for remote quiet decompression, this is your spot.

    Ally2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful farm with wonderful hosts! It's close enough to town to have access to groceries, but still rural enough to have wonderful peace and quiet!

    Brandi2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a new, clean camp. I liked that it was close to Machias-restaurants, etc. I stayed one night for business and did a great bike ride around the coastal areas. It would be a good base of operations for beach, sight-seeing, and not far from the Canadian border.

    Donald2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great location to explore the area. I would suggest roaming Jasper beach looking for beautiful rocks.

    Brinkley2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place in a cool location. Would recommend!

    Joe2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Elva P. cabin! We picked fresh blueberries every morning for pancakes, and watched the sun set over Great Cove every evening. It was peaceful, quiet and easy to get to.

    Karen2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great second stay at Lisa's cabin with my friend and our dogs. The cabins are so cute with everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom (the shower is nice!). We had a beautiful walk up to the top of the hill to see the view and ate some blueberries along the way. August is a great time to come here!

The Kelley Lodge is close to Great Wass Nature Conservancy and hiking trails, Backfield Park with beach access, Sandy River Beach and the Bayview Takeout, recently voted Best lobster roll in Maine and Massachusetts by USA Today. You’ll love the Kelley Lodge because of the ocean front views where you can see all of Moosabec Reach and lobster boats. Guests will enjoy the friendly small town atmosphere. Great place for honeymooners, families, or solo adventurers.
This house belonged to my Great Aunt and Uncle and is 200 years old. It was floated over to its current location from near by Head Harbor Island. All or the rooms have been newly renovated, but still with the older rustic feel. There is a beautiful sun porch on the east side of the house overlooking Moosabec Reach and the other surrounding islands. The kitchen has a fully functioning gas stove, oven, coffee pot, and toaster which can accommodate to all your cooking needs. The house has a heat pump to warm you up on the cooler Maine nights, along with plenty of cozy blankets. The living room has a flat screen TV with over 100 DVD's and Blu-Ray movies to choose from. There is also a movie shop to rent movies just minutes from the house. There is Wi-Fi access at the house, but no cable or satellite. The master bedroom includes a full size bed, walk in closet and a dresser. The second bedroom has a full size bed, a closet, and dresser. The house is cozy, quiet, and perfect for couples, families, honeymooners, or even a solo adventurer.
The house is located on the quiet island of Beals, right in the heart of Downest Maine. The island offers the beautiful Great Wass hiking trails, kayaking, and a sandy beach located at the Backfield Park. For a great Maine experience guest need to visit the Bayview Takeout. With fresh local seafood, burgers, salads, ice cream, and so much more, this place ia a must!! The mainland of Jonesport also offers many things for guests. There is a grocery store, hardware store, and 2 convenience stores.
  • This is a great spot with amazing views and a very comfortable house. The enclosed back porch has a full view of the water and when the tide is in-- it is just beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and went walking on all the local island parks.

    Ellen2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint and clean cottage, real fishing village kind of vibe.

    Michael2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, fabulous view. Low-key and flexible hosts. Short walk to one of the best seafood take-outs in New England. Well provisioned in kitchen and bathroom. Recommend guests seek out local seafood docks for lobsters and mussels. Best communication is by email.

    Chrisine2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible views of the harbor, make sure to take time to explore the rest of the island and the mainland in this area for over-the-top Maine coast experience!

    Ronald2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • UNBELIEVABLE LOCATION. Frank was so quick to reply to every question we had and gave tons of great suggestions. There’s tourist/trinket selling downeast, and then there’s real downeast. This is 100% real downeast. All that being said, the place is modern, immaculate, and is equipped with smart TV’s. All in all, loved the place, the takeout stand was delicious, and I hope we can return sometime soon.

    Marc2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Quiet, clean, comfortable and welcoming! Plenty of space and the view is beautiful! Wonderful preserve right on the Island, and other hikes very accessible!

    Jessica2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The place was like in the photos. We were very good there. Relaxing. And in addition, there is a small canteen just around the corner with lobster rools and very good ice creams. Beautiful stay

    Adèle2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here. The cottage was cute and a great location. We did quick day trips to Cuttler Coast Reserve Lands, Roque Bluffs and the Great Wass Reserve. Also check out the reverse falls at Cobbs Cook Bay at high tide. We saw an adorable seal there! The dinner next door has good food and ice cream.

Situated in the heart of a small lobster fishing village, Bridge View is a stylish, 3 bedroom cottage with panoramic views of the ocean. The cottage is the perfect place to unwind and watch the lobster boats go by. It's also ideal for experiencing Downeast culture up close. Go for a stroll around the fishing village; buy fresh lobster from the docks; hike beautiful Great Wass nature preserve; or just use the house as a base to explore Bar Harbor, the bold coast, Eastport, Campobello and more.
    The entire home, yard, etc.
  • Julie and Rich's place is impeccably and wonderfully designed in the most stylish yet functional manner. Your time on this beautiful island will be an escape to another world, a slower pace, surrounded by lobster pots, good people and quintessential Maine - Julie and Rich will provide you with more insider tips than you can imagine and are always available for any and every question you may have. We can't recommend it highly enough. Don't hesitate to book - this is truly the break you are looking for.

    Kali2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Bridge View with the authentic Maine coast and fishing village surrounding us. The home was comfortable, well stocked, clean and professionally designed way beyond most rental properties. The home is centrally located to all the Downeast highlights, so in two or three day trips you can see all the coastal icons. Rich provided us with all kinds of information via multiple forms of communication, and was very friendly and eager to help us enjoy our time in Maine. Highly recommended home on Airbnb.

    Dean2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accommodations Down East - we were able to travel north and south to see several sights. Rich and Julie have awesome research binders available so that you can plan your adventures to see several of the hidden gems in the area. The house is beautiful!

    Sara2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Bridgeview made our trip to Maine exceptional and provided us with access to many unique experiences. It was a fantastic base to explore Downeast, Acadia, and the Bold Coast. The space is stylish and comfortable with exquisite views of the bay and fishing community. From Bridgeview, it's easy to walk the island. We found the locals to be welcoming and eager to provide us with the best views of the water and sunrises...and, of course, sell us fresh lobstah! We've stayed at many Airbnbs and I must say that Rich and Julie are the ultimate hosts. Their guidebooks are the most comprehensive local tips that I've seen. What a treat! If you crave local experiences and want to steer clear of the touristy areas, this is your kind of place! You still have easy access to Acadia, but you can enjoy the gorgeous views and then escape to more gorgeous views...and less crowds.

    Amy2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning space and impeccably decorated. Julie and Rich were fantastic in every way. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot for a weekend downeast. Highly recommend it to all!

    Courtney2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Rich’s place is so stylish and cozy. Can’t ask for a better experience in Maine! It was our first trip to Maine and we had a lovely experience! It’s so peaceful and beautiful - Julie and Rich really dedicate to make their guests’ experience as memorable as possible. They thought of everything - their tips are so helpful(you’ll need it). Definitely recommend!

    Ashley2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t hesitate to book this Airbnb! If you want a spot with incredible views, sea breezes, in a relaxing setting this is it. The house is very relaxing and inviting, and the porches are wonderful. Being from Maine we’ve traveled a lot of it, and it’s nice to find a relaxing spot on the water with no tourists. Hiking great wass is a must. We cooked most meals in and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our dog loved hanging out on the porches! We highly recommend a stay here.

    Amy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a relaxing, beautifully appointed get-away on an island off the coast of Maine. This is it! The hosts are immediately available. They have provided everything you need for a comfortable stay: quality kitchen items, comfortable bed linens and bath towels, 4 binders of information on the area and ideas of how to spend your days. It is clearly "Maine, The Way Life Should Be".

Charming Studio Suite (over garage), overlooking lovely Chandler Bay and Roque Island. Wake up to the rising sun and the sounds of Lobstermen hauling their pots. Nearby hiking trails, kayaking, and even a nine hole golf course for outdoor enjoyment. Two hours from the sights of Bar Harbor and Arcadia but only an hour to the the historic Roosevelt summer home on Campobello Island (passport required!). A perfect get away from the maddening crowds even in September!
  • Michael and Percy went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. They are the most wonderful couple. Their studio is very clean and has a great view.

    Veronica2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy guest suite is perfect for a weekend getaway to the Bold Coast of Maine. Percy and Michael provide the best hospitality and the photos of the property don't even do the incredible vistas justice. We enjoyed everything about our stay, no matter whether it was rainy or sunny. Their local recommendations were spot on. Highly recommend this airbnb to any other travelers who find themselves in Jonesport.

    Samantha2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful spot! Everything was perfect! Thank you!

    Toni2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Michael and Percy's guest space. The location was serene and quiet and very close to the wedding we were attending in Harrington. We could not have asked for a kinder host. Thanks again!

    Allison2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space was beautifully done, clean and comfortable. I would recommend this space for anyone wanting a private location to stay in Jonesport.

Newly and beautifully renovated ocean front cottage with spectacular views of Moosabec Reach from all rooms, in this truly one-of-a-kind home. In addition to the downstairs bedroom, there is a loft bedroom with views of nearby islands. Watch the lobster boats, along with the sailboats. This property is a mere fifteen feet from the shore so you can enjoy the changing tides, an array of shore birds -- eagles, ospreys, and blue herons. Surrounding sea roses infuse the air with their lovely scent.
Jonesport is a small fishing village on the down east coast of Maine. A small fleet of lobster boats and sailboats dot the harbor. Enjoy the fresh clams, and lobsters right off the boat. A bridge leads from Jonesport to neighboring Beals Island, where an array of nature trails await you. Bring your kayaks for water outings.
Jonesport is a beautiful fishing village with access to Beals and Great Wass Island across the bridge.
  • The cottage was a perfect place to get away from tourist. Right on the water the view spectacular. Very peaceful. Would recommend the cottage to friends and family.

    Lisa2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely breathtaking views in beautiful well appointed cottage. Amazingly peaceful and quiet. Its hard to imagine but the cottage is even nicer than the photos. It was super clean and cute with stunning views from all angles. The kitchen was large and well stocked with plenty of dishes and cups. There is a photo book with the before and after pictures which show how much work Thomas put into making the cottage as lovely as it is. We cant wait to come back.

    Rachel2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thomas’ Rosehip Cottage is among the best of the best. Sparkling clean, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, and very well equipped. Best of all was it’s location on a working harbor in spectacular surrounding sea coast of Downeast Maine. We did not meet Thomas but we so appreciated his attentive and prompt communication. Wonderful!

    Sarah2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • This property is delightful! Very clean and stylish property. I wish we lived closer , so we could return.

    Chelsea2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely home within a quaint and serene location. Awakening to the sounds of the ocean, with a gentle breeze that travels throughout the home was such a calming feature that we loved. We appreciated the privacy and truly enjoyed the character of the home. The unique details throughout the home were the perfect touch. A great deal of love went into creating this home. We were pleasantly surprised by all of the amenities that were offered and realized that we overpacked. Lol. And to our surprise, it was utterly immaculate. Thomas is a gracious and thoughtful host. He kept us informed up until our arrival and was available for questions and concerns. And with his thoughtful heart, he left instructions within the home in case an emergency should arise or, if we had a question about the "simple things" (i.e. How to turn on the tv ☺️). As for the town, we loved traveling along the shore and, meeting the towns people who were very pleasant and friendly. You will enjoy your stay indeed. Thank you, Nicole and Michael

    Nicole2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second year at Rose Hip cottage. As always, very clean and adorable. You cannot get a better view or closer to the ocean. Until next year!!

    Adrienne2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This little place is an off-the-grid crumb of heaven.

    Lydia2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Rosehip Cottage was the perfect rental in Jonesport. It was as close to the water as we could get and the perfect location for visiting our family. Loved sitting out on the deck watching the boats go by. One thing I really enjoyed was all the things that were provided for us. Things like toilet paper and paper towels of course, but also fire logs for the wood stove, coffee, shampoo and soap, laundry detergent, etc. I don’t think there was anything that we needed that we couldn’t find in the house. The lobster shed is adorable!! There were some chilly days so we spent some time in there to keep warm. Thomas gave detailed instructions and included some local information as well. Check in was simple, with a lock box key, which was great because we got in a little late. Comfortable beds, nicely decorated, and all the comforts of home. We know where we will be staying next time we visit Jonesport!

You will really feel like you've gotten away from it all in Roque Bluffs. This sweet little cottage has amazing light and views. Sunrises are spectacular and stargazing at night is awe-inspiring. Perfect for a quiet getaway where you can really unplug! The State Park is just 2 miles away. It's a special place in the world with much to explore, but as you will see from our reviews, you may never want to leave our cozy cottage.
A fully renovated one bedroom cottage with a full kitchen, dining area, and seating area. Solid construction that is cleanly decorated with great light.
The house is located on a very quiet road that is great for walking. Water access is 1/2 mile away on Cow Point. You can also go 2 miles to Roque Bluffs State Park for the public beach and trails.
  • Love my stay at the cottage. Perfect location and so peaceful. Would definitely stay there again

  • Amazing space. Great host.

    Sonya2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cabin that was cozy and clean. The location is amazing with natural beauty abound. It made for a perfect stay for a quiet weekend getaway in northern Maine.

    Daniel2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was fantastic for a small, quite, secluded retreat away from the noise and commotion of the city. Big windows and a sliding glass door offer distant views of the ocean, and I saw at least 5 deer grazing in the yard over the few days of my stay. In spite of the relative seclusion, the cabin is only 15 minutes drive from downtown Machias, where there is a good sized grocery store, drug store, fast food, at least 2 pizza places, a natural foods store, wine and cheese shop, banks, etc. Machias is also home to Helen's Restaurant, famous for their fresh local seafood and Pies! Quoddy Head State Park and Boot Head Preserve are under an hour from the cottage as well, they offer some of the most incredible oceanside cliff trails I have ever seen... I highly recommend both for relatively short but truly incredible hikes. Cobscook Bay State Park is also beautiful and Reversing Falls Park is definitely worth seeing for the tidal movement and the wildlife. Finally, there is no television but there is a strong connection to fast/reliable internet so I was able to stream shows and movies to my laptop/tablet without any trouble (the DSL modem/router is in the cabin). Definitely a great stay, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the area or just get some R&R!

    Arius2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay! Beautiful cottage, a view of the ocean through the trees, 5 minutes from the local state park and friendly neighbors. We’re already planning to stay again next year.

    Emily2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This cottage was absolutely perfect for a Maine vacation. Comfortable, cozy, clean, and with all the amenities you could want or need. The sunrises were beautiful and the air was fresh. At night you could stare at all the stars in the sky for hours. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our second anniversary.

    Melissa2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This place is something special. We’d planned to use it as a base to explore the area but it’s such a stunning modern and cute cottage that we just wanted to ‘stay home’. Our hosts made us feel so welcome with thoughtful and generous touches. The kitchen was delightfully equipped for rustling up a delicious pasta which we ate overlooking endless fields stretching to the sea. We were so cosy and comfortable that we had to tear ourselves away. Hope to return one day! Thanks Alice and Cara.

    Nikki2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ellie’s Cottage was a great place to spend some quiet time in Maine after a week of hiking. Our favorite part of the property was the huge, private back yard with the ability to stargaze under the most amazing night sky. The house had everything two people could ask for. I would recommend this little house to anyone :)

  • Buddy's Basin, Buddy, and his humans are all terrific, as are Buddy's buddies, Bella and Bernie the cat! Donna and David are excellent hosts and have created a comfortable, clean, and extraordinarily affordable space from which to be a tourist of this fascinating and beautiful part of Maine. I especially enjoyed my conversations with David about Maine (and national) politics, history, and gardening. I expect to revisit and if/when I do, this will be my home (near Columbia Falls, Maine) away from home (in Columbia Falls, Montana!)

  • From the moment we drove in Donna welcomed us and made sure if we needed anything to let her know. The apt. Above the garage was perfect. Fully furnished. All you need is your clothing and food. The full kitchen and grill were great to cook meals. We did get some Lobsters and clams down the rd. And had a feast. Nothing better then fresh maine seafood. The apt is so cute and very clean. David has landscaped the property beautifully. We saw David in the mornings walking the dogs and he always helped us to find places to go see.. we definitely recommend them.

The Sweet Pea cottage is on a private sandy beach with the most spectacular sunrises, best beach combing for sea glass and a great escape from the chaos of a busy life. There is adventure if wanted (hiking, boating, etc.), or simply cozy up with some great books, or even pull out a paint brush or two. Great bird watching also, bring your binoculars! The Sweet Pea affords simple pleasures with a close-to-nature experience. We would love to have you experience the summer in Downeast Maine with us.
  • Sweet Pea is the perfect cottage for two on the Maine coast. It’s on a beach that’s super for walking almost every day, and it’s warm and snug when the wind blows.

  • Serene place. Before we get there, we were a little bit concern about possible highway traffic. Simply, we were never aware of it.

Cozy bedroom with private bath and separate entry in an old farmhouse situated on a peaceful, tidal salt marsh. Private setting with trails through 15 acres of woods. Serene surroundings with stunning marsh views.
Room includes a microwave, coffee maker, cooler, and we will provide some form of coffee cake for breakfast.
Experience the quiet life that is Downeast Maine. We see all kinds of wildlife; deer, turkeys, porqupines, hummingbirds and eagles. Explore the unspoiled peninsulas around Harrington. The Schoodic Peninsula, Acadia National Park and Campobello Island are all just over an hour away.
  • Gail was an extremely kind and hospitable host. She was flexible with the arrival time and had no issues with me cutting my stay short by one day. Her place was very nice and stylish and served as a nice getaway for a few days. Gail dropped off cookies and breakfast treats every day which was really very kind of her. I would absolutely revisit!

  • As fine a spot as you will find in the area. Worthy of a visit, like a starred Michelin restaurant. Accommodations stylish, homey, down comforter and lovely woolens on your bed. Pumpkin bread to buoy your soul as the sun rises. The faint whisp of wood smoke from the kitchen some leagues away. A path leading to stunning views of a salt marsh and pine/birch forest rich with lichen and fungi. One could explore for many hours in nearly any season. Host could not be more accommodating, elucidating nor helpful. One of the finest BnB experiences of my 42 years of extensive world travel. Kudos. A++.

  • Gail is a very sweet and wonderful host. She accommodated all our special requests like arranging late checkin, a mini refrigerator and a cooking stovetop. We had a memorable experience cooking on her antique wooden stove. The view of river from her house is so beautiful. She also gave us some excellent suggestions for visiting places around. Every morning she provided us delicious and mouthwatering breakfast freshly baked using vegetables and fruits from her garden. She even offered us vegetables from her garden. The place was sparkling clean and pretty much has everything we needed. We wish to visit her again if we are planning to Acadia next time. We will definitely recommend her to everyone. :-)

Quaint cottage situated on bluff above Moosabec Reach. Perfect for a couple or solo adventurer. Watch the working lobster boats, read, paint or take an easy drive to National parks, blueberry fields or ice cream. Located in fishing village across from small library, down from marina & historic society. A perfectly relaxing getaway.
The cottage is over 100 years old and has that vintage atmosphere. Each year we work to make it even lovelier. It has stood up to many storms and even a couple hurricanes. The roof is new, as is the water heater.
Small town, fishing village. Things close up early.
  • We could not have asked for a better place to spend a few days away from the busy city. From the idyllic location, to the wonderful hosts, our trip was wonderful from start to finish. Jonesport is a small town with a big heart, and is perfect for a getaway. We were there during the blueberry festival, and had a wonderful time exploring the local area. The cabin itself was perfect for the two of us, quaint and clean, it was the perfect home base for exploring Beals Island, and walking around the town. We enjoyed sitting on the deck, and playing cribbage in front of the fire. We truly can’t wait until our next visit.

  • Jonesport is a lovely place to stay! Far away from the crowds... Rick and Donna are great and caring hosts. The cottages are cozy and have a lovely view of the harbor. Highly recommended.

  • Heather's cottage in Jonesport is an idyllic, authentic piece of Downeast Maine. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience staying here and exploring the Bold Coast of Maine. The place looks like the picture on the the box! It is a simple, clean and functional. The views are spectacular from sunrise, to sunset to the vast starry night skies. Jonesport is a sweet little working fishing town. The locals are friendly, as were the other vacationers we met staying next doer. Hiking the nature preserve at Great Wass Island was certainly a highlight, challenging and rewarding with an amazing walk around the coastline of the undisturbed island. Visiting in August, we were at the height of blueberry season and took advantage of the roadside farm stands to buy a quart on our way up. The drive up and back on Route One was a fun road trip passing through the iconic cities and towns along the Maine Coast featuring beautiful examples of historic Colonial, Federalist and Victorian architecture. A visit to Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory are worth the stop as Route One crosses the river into Bucksport. A short drive north is the town of Machias, home to Helen's, a great diner with excellent blueberry pancakes. It would be a good stop on your way out to Lubec, a border town with Canada, and the Eastern most point in the United States at West Quoddy Head. The lighthouse at the site is over 150 years old. We spent four nights in Jonesport and the rest of our week in Portland, but would have been happy to spend an entire week here. I highly reccomend Heather's cottage.

The Hammond Trust cottage offers visitors a true Downeast coastal experience. Enjoy the ocean views from the deck, and experience the quiet of this secluded getaway. There's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends.
The Hammond cottage was left in a trust by the original owners, George and Beatrice Hammond after their passing. The property is managed by their daughter. Linda Hammond Spaulding. The Hammond family have enjoyed the property for decades, and it was the hope of George and Bea that others would enjoy it for many years to come. Enjoy the ocean views from the deck, and experience the quiet of this secluded getaway. There's plenty of room to entertain your family and friends. The large deck has a picnic table, plenty of seating, and a grill to prepare some of your favorite summer foods. The master bedroom, located on the first floor, has a queen bed and sliding glass doors overlooking the cove. In addition to the two other bedrooms, there is a loft with bed, and additional bed in a room off the living room. The cottage comfortably sleeps 8. Bring your kayaks and explore what the coast offers. Comb the secluded beach to see what treasures the Atlantic left for you. And there is no lack of road and trails which allows you to explore on land with your mountain bike or by foot. Internet access. Dishwasher, washer, & dryer. Gas grill. Check in is at 4:00 pm. Check out is at 10:00 am.
The house is located on a private road and secluded but near the necessary amenities
  • This place was perfect, we had everything we needed, great views to wake up to, short drive to Acadia and lots of games, puzzles and cards to occupy down time. Would absolutely stay again.

    John2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s home is a picturesque cross between a cabin and lakeside cottage. There is plenty of space for activities indoor and out to help us disconnect from our electronics. We did lose power once or twice during some large passing storms but the house was well equipped with candles and puzzles keeping us perfectly content. The drive is beautiful to get there and the views are pretty spectacular. If you want to relax and disconnect (our cell service was pretty spotty to nonexistent), this is definitely the place to go with good hiking, sightseeing and yummy lobster rolls not too far off. Thanks Linda for a great stay and quick communications!

    Wallis2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful relaxed weekend enjoying the secluded beauty of this charming cottage looking out over the aptly named Pleasant Bay. We took an easy day trip to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse and to Campobello (brought passports of course) and had a fascinating tour FDR’s cottage and the area. A wonderful time was had by all!

  • This lovely home oceanside sets you up to refresh and fully take in a peaceful breath of fresh air!

  • This is a great place to stay and the description details are all accurate. We know the Maine Coast well and it is hard to find houses this nice and this well located. I brought a cross bike with me and was rewarded — many of the surrounding roads are dirt and gravel and run along the water or through really nice woods. All needed kitchenware and glasses are here. Video player, games and puzzles, nice artistic touches to the house and rooms. As disclosed by the owner there is no internet or cable and it is a mile and a half to a consistent signal. Supermarket relatively close.

    Terry2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We always enjoy staying here. The location is incredible! The home is roomy and very charming.

    Jason2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our 4th year at the Hammond Cottage. The location continues to be stunning. Amazing views, great private beach (shared with one other house) to gather sea glass and if you are brave swim. It is definitely off the main road but beautiful Guard Point is a great place to base yourself to explore Downeast Maine. The cottage is charming and Linda finds ways to improve it with nice little touches every year. We will be back!

Our rustic Maine Cabin is close enough to Bar Harbor & Acadia for shopping, brewery tours, restaurants, & night life, but far enough from the bustle to get the real Maine experience - relax on the dock with your favorite drink & listen to the loons calling across the lake! Tunk Lake boasts some of the best fishing for lake trout (togue) & other fish in the state! Hiking trails abound off the Blackwoods Scenic Byway & in Donnell Public Reserve Lands, including Black, Schoodic, & Tunk Mountains.
The cabin is one main room with a loft, with an updated bathroom attached. It has running hot water and electricity. The kitchen includes a gas stove, fridge, coffee maker, and pots, pans, plates, cups and utensils. We also have blankets and bedding, pillows, towels, shampoo/conditioner. There is one double bed in the loft, which is accessible via drop down ladder, and there are three trundle beds which are single size downstairs. We prefer to latch two of them together and use those as double bed with a memory foam pad on top (as seen in the pictures - bed with the purple comforter, mattress pad included). To enjoy the lake there are five kayaks you can use. Stay cozy and enjoy s'mores on the campfire outside ! Our cabin is perfect for a couple, but with over an acre there are also many good sites for tents. We keep a tent at the cabin for your use, but feel free to bring your own as well!
  • Kaiden was a great host, was accommodating with a flexible check in and answered any questions quickly during our stay. This cabin is a great spring-fall getaway— we stayed very cozy with the efficient wood burning stove. The space was as expected and accurately portrayed in the listing, and complemented the outdoor experience we were seeking with a great location on Trunk lake perfect for kayaking and exploring. I would recommend this stay to someone who enjoys a peaceful stay away from busy areas, isn’t too high maintenance, and is looking to enjoy nature at its best.

    Libby2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Kaiden and Sophia's cabin! Fishing in the early morning during sunrise was one of the highlights of our trip!

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the little cabin in the Woods! The dock on the lake and the outdoor fire pit were our two favorite features, but we also took full advantage of the kitchen and comfortable beds. Kaiden is a responsive and helpful host who goes the distance to be sure your stay is enjoyable. We were there 3 nights but would have enjoyed a week or more.

  • This place in Cherryfield is amazing. You are right on the water with an amazing view of the forest. It’s incredibly serene and the perfect place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway. Our hosts met us there and provided us everything we needed. They communicated with us throughout and walked us through everything we needed to know before we checked in. This place is awesome, highly recommend!

  • I highly recommend staying at Kaiden and Sophia's place. It is a beautiful getaway in a picturesque location. The hosts were great at ensuring that you have everything you need to make the most of your stay. From free access to kayaks on the lake and free firewood and supplies, the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay amazing, even if you are not an experienced outdoorsman/woman. The cabin is very comfortable, with a charming rustic feel. The lake is absolutely stunning, and looking at the sky on a clear night is awe inspiring. It is in a nice, quiet location. It is about an hour from Bar Harbor/Acadia, but an easy drive. Just be warned to plan out food for the day in advance. If not cooking at the cabin, there are not a lot of restaurants close to the cabin and a lot of places close very early! Don't let that dissuade you from staying here though. It is a great way to get away from it all. I look forward to staying here again!

    Alan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Kaiden and Sophia's cabin was amazing. They had a great location with beautiful views and we were able to enjoy the beauty of Tunk lake and all of Acadia and Bar Harbor just a short drive away. An all around great place, we hope to be back soon!

  • Kaiden and Sophia’s cabin is perfect! The view from the dock is breathtaking. It’s the perfect place to relax and unplug. It’s close to Acadia for amazing hiking. Kaiden gave us a ton of tips for places to go and things to check out. We can’t wait to come back!

  • It is a Zen place, simple to reconnect with nature. The lapping waves empty your mind, the stars transport you into the immense force of the universe. The calm and smooth lake like a mirror in the early morning invites you to meditation. The beds are like cozy little cocoons. For us it was a place of rest and healing.

Right on the water! Beautiful Ocean views from almost every window. 4 Bedroom completely modern house with banks of windows. Open floor plan downstairs, ADA handicap accessible. Located in the fishing village of Beals, many attractions close by. There is an additional 9% Maine tax that is in addition to the charges listed by AirBnB.
  • This house on Beal’s Island was a perfect hub for our family’s adventures exploring the Maine coastline. Phil gave so many helpful tips about the area—our excursions were normally about 45 minutes to an hour and a half away....but Great Wass is literally just down the road and that was a top highlight of our trip. We also visited Winter Harbor and the beautiful schoodic portion of Acadia. We loved Quoddy Head state park...the hikes in both Quoddy and Great Wass are amazing with breathtaking views around every corner. We also visited Reversing Falls in Pembroke and took a deep sea fishing trip with Eastport windjammers. We enjoyed lobster and fresh shellfish right by the water. Every morning we had breathtaking views of the sunrise right from our bed. Every room has water views. The house felt clean and was well equipped for cooking and for trips to the beach. There are several grocery stores close by and ice cream and seafood just a few docks down. The house is full of light and the large windows truly invite the outdoors inside. We had the best week and didn’t want to leave!

  • The house, the view and the owner Phil are 5 stars all day long. The view of the sunrises from the house are incredible. We had a fire outside every night in the fire pit. Steamers and lobster (outdoor cooker provided)by the fire. Great takeout food place within a short walk from the house. Everyone we ran into was friendly. The views of the bay in the back yard were very relaxing. Didn't even want to leave the house but there is quite a bit to do in the area. We can't wait to visit again next year!

This newly renovated 3 bed/2 bath home is nestled on the tidal headwaters of Mason's Bay. The Chandler House boasts "all brand-new everything." We took this lovely 1940's Craftsman Style home down to the studs, completely overhauling it, inside and out. Brand new kitchen with with granite counters and all new LG appliances. New GE washer and dryer. High speed wifi with a 55" smart TV. There is a large back deck with a hot shower. Beyond the apple trees is the waterfront with a firepit.
The house is situated on 4 private acres, it is located near the Jonesboro village on Old US Route 1. Only 10 minutes to Machias and 5 minutes to Roque Bluff, it's off the beaten path of the newer US Route 1, which serves the coastline.
  • I would definitely stay here again. The host was responsive and gave us great tips of what to see while we were staying in Maine. A little over an hour from Acadia but many great sites and hikes were close to our stay. Appliances are all new. Overall, a great place to stay.

  • Beautiful cottage looking out onto a sheltered bay on the Maine coast. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful in the offseason - a great place to get away and relax. It's about a 15 minute drive into the town center, where there are some small shops, restaurants, a supermarket, and a pharmacy. Would gladly return!

  • Well laid out clean cottage with bay views much better than profile pix. Large sunny kitchen. Living room looks out to island-dotted bay to watch tides, gulls, and clam diggers. Quiet bedrooms downstairs ( no fridge noise), and large modern laundry room ( better than home!). Lots of Maine-centric books, as well as birding books and binoculars. Awesome fast internet (50 Mbps) and cable tv. Live lobster shop just a few miles away. All you need to hang out Maine-style!

  • My husband and I absolutely loved this special little cottage on the water. We really want to go again next year, and hopefully stay longer next time. It's a clean, comfortable cabin with a gorgeous view, pretty flowers and grasses out every window, and sweet ocean breezes sweeping through the rooms. It is both a great home base for exploring the area, and equally great if you want to relax on the deck or down by the water with a good book or a glass of wine. Absolutely first rate.

    Lara2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Ricky's cottage by the sea is truly beautiful. Our family of five including a one year old had a blast staying at his place. He really has truly thought of everything. From spices in the cabinet, ice already made in the trays, binoculars to look out over the sea, books to read and games to play. Everyone felt at home and the kids were sad to leave. If you are looking for a comfortable laid back place to call home for the weekend. Don't hesitate.

    Kaitlin2018-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and super comfortable - the water view is amazing and there were deer walking through the property in the mornings and evenings. Kitchen, living room, bathroom and office space upstairs (main floor), and the 2 bedrooms and a laundry room downstairs. Both bedrooms look out onto the water. There is a great home style restaurant about 10 minutes away called Helen’s, the pie there is fantastic.

    Susan2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend staying at Ricky's place. The cottage contains all the necessary amenities. A great location for trips to Acadia, Bold Coast and Campobella. One of our favorite activities was star gazing from the back deck. We counted 20 plus shooting stars one evening! We also enjoyed the ATV rides down to the beach front during low tide. The kids found numerous crabs of all sizes. A great spot to experience downeast Maine.

    Jason2018-08-17T00:00:00Z

  • Magical Maine house! This couldn’t be more true. This house and our entire stay was completely magical. The house is beautifully set on a small cove in a quaint fishing village. The scenery in downeast Maine is spectacular and I loved Georgia’s recommendations for what to see and do there! We had an unforgettable time and loved the yellow house. My favorite feature was the huge porch where I did yoga every day, drank coffee, played cards with the kids, read, and just gazed at the water. Thank you for an amazing vacation!

    Claire2019-08-17T00:00:00Z

  • Very much enjoyed our stay here. Stayed with my hubby, parent and in-laws and there was plenty of space for all. Georgia has some great local tips for us, which made it that much better. Great spot, great house!

  • relaxing porch, very quiet at night. the downstairs shower is awesome and very spacious. overall great stay and we will be back.

  • The house was absolutely perfect for our stay, even better than we'd expected. We were very comfortable, and the deck is a wonderful space for relaxing. Georgia was incredibly hospitable, quick to respond, and sent us wonderful suggestions for hikes and food in the area. We couldn't have been happier and hope to come back again!

  • We loved having enough space for 2 adults and 3 grown kids. We were easy driving distance to attractions but were away from crowds. Great place to enjoy the Maine coast.

Beauty and peace upstairs in a separate building with your own entrance. Lots of windows and light, nice wood floors, comfortable furniture and beds. Lovely walks and shore hikes, a sunfish sailboat, rubber raft and two-person kayak available. Private meditation cabin available. Beautiful flower and vegetable gardens on the property. State and national parks and pristine swimming lakes nearby. 10 minute drive to shopping, etc. Outdoor grill available.
We're halfway down a two mile peninsula on tidal Flat Bay, set in from a quiet road with no traffic.
  • If you want to stay at a place that is quiet, out of the way, clean and perfectly situated between Acadia and Campobello (which is a Canadian island about 75 minutes away), you've found your place. Richard was the consummate host (even told us about Campobello, summer vacation spot for FDRs family). We had a perfect Labor Day weekend there going to Acadia one day and Campobello the next. And, did I tell you about the stars...if you haven't ever seen the Milky Way or a shooting star, here is your opportunity. (Turn off *all* the lights.) We had 3 nights of awesome viewing!

  • Such a beautiful place. And such a beautiful part of the world!

    Eric2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet. Our dog was able to run around without worries. Between kayaking, Acadia, going to the beach and looking at lighthouses we had a wonderful time and hope to go back.

  • My friend and I (and our 2 dogs) had a great stay at Richard's place in Harrington. He was a super responsive host and despite us having to arrive after 11pm he made check-in easy! The land is beautiful and there are a number of gardens that were just so fun to look at and enjoy the lovely flowers. The kitchen is well-equipped with supplies for cooking and there are a ton of great recommendations of things to do in a binder in the apartment. We spent a couple days at Acadia National Park (~1 hour drive) but Richard had a lot of great recommendations for closer hikes that were equally beautiful. All in all I would highly recommend staying here.

    Margaret2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Susan were so sweet and more than accommodating. We had everything we needed and even had a chance to have fresh veggies from their lovely garden. Our stay was absolutely perfect. The area is quiet and peaceful, about 10 minutes from groceries and necessities, and 45 minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia. I recommend Wescogee blueberry farm (they have a website) for fresh or frozen wild blueberries, and Philary's clam shack (on Facebook). A lot of good local places don't come up on Google, so Richard's list of recommendations was very helpful!

    Jennifer2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is even better than expected! A beautiful living space with lots of windows and natural light, a beautiful yard and just a walk away from the ocean. It’s easy to get to major Maine Landmarks such as West Quoddy Light, Bar Harbor and Blue Hill. It’s also a peaceful retreat if you want to just enjoy a book on the deck. I highly recommend this space to anyone looking for a peaceful Maine getaway.

    Mac2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • A serene retreat on a beautiful property. Richard and Susan are great hosts. They're very thoughtful and helpful. Check in was great. Richard was onsite and came out to greet us. He showed us around and was very detailed about everything. The property is gorgeous. There's a vegetable garden, views of the water, a double kayak, and an ocean walk all onsite. The apartment is above the barn. It is very clean, spacious and cozy. There's plenty of natural light and the ocean breeze in the morning is delightful. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

    Christine2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was easy, Richard was on site at our arrival. He spent time orientating us to the barn and its amenities. He offered suggestions on where to eat, and a tide chart to make kayaking possible. The barn is located on Richards property and it is in a beautiful quiet location. All the amenities that were expected were provided. We spent our couple of days in Acadia National Park and Richards property was a good location for this. This property was exactly as described and was a fabulous find.

Come and enjoy this cute cottage in Down East Maine. You are right in the thick of all that coastal Maine has to offer, yet tucked away in a little sea side village. The cottage is across the street from the ocean-there are no ocean views but it is a 1 minute walk away. You can check out the original one room school house, hike in Ingersol Point Preserve, and walk to the local wharf. We are pet friendly! There are no extra fees for pets-just make sure to clean up after them.
The cottage is gorgeous-the original space is one large room with kitchen, dining area and a seating area-with a loft accessible by ladder. There is also an additional bedroom and sitting room with television as well as a small bathroom and a small laundry room. There is no dryer-we have a clothesline outback. The cottage has all the amenities you will need for cooking, cocktails, and hosting several people. We have the basics like butter, olive oil, spices, cereal-and also coffee grinder and coffee maker. There is a liquor store and grocery store about 15 minutes away. We have an indoor stove that you can use for heat if you are familiar with the workings of this type of stove. There is also oil heat for colder nights. There is a little fire pit outside that you can roast marshmallows in-just make sure to never leave unattended and put out w garden hose when finished-the winds are surprisingly strong. Even though you are coming in warmer months-it usually gets cold at night-so make sure to bring some warm clothes too.
The village was established in the late 1700's and was a bustling sea port. It is pretty low key now-the cottage is located on the main street surrounded by other houses and cottages. There are year round residents and summer residents as well as vacationers. People are super friendly and everyone will wave at you when they drive by.
  • This was one of the best AIRBNB's I have stayed at. Susan was so thoughtful with the toys and games for the kids to play. My children loved the loft area it was there own little private getaway. I am also happy about the limited electronics, only one TV that was very small compared to the TV we have at home so the children didn't want to use it as much as they do at home, instead they played games with each other and ran around the yard. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking to get away from the everyday stressors of life and just wants to be with nature and to get away from the modern world that we live in today. All in all if you are looking to slow things down a bit, this is the place for you, we made many great memories visiting the local state park, and hiking the many trails in the area, also very close to Acadia National park, that we went there twice! Oh and Susan is the best host ever, from check in, to checkout, she was very quick to respond to any and all questions asked! I can't thank you enough for your hospitality!

  • Great place. The kitchen is well supplied and the neighborhood is beautiful.

    Jessica2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was so lovely and was exactly as advertised. It was very peaceful and quiet but convenient to shopping areas and attractions of the area. We would definitely stay again.

    Cindy2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. We liked the space and the neighborhood. The house was just right for us. We were there 4 weeks and had a realy good time. The decor is definately a big plus. We played badminton in the back yard and met the super nice neighbors. We drove over to Jonesport, Eastport, Lubec, and Campobello. If you want to experience the real Maine, this is a great location. There is usually something going on. We were there over the 4th - so it was happening between that and Canada Day (Jul 1st). If you are down in some hot state like we are (Florida) you can escape the heat here and kick back. The wifi kept us occupied when we had down time and were not otherwise having lobstah and blueberry pie for dessert - or just going anywhere from Bar Harbor to Campobello (this house is right in the middle of them basically). Get ready to have some fun, explore Downeast, and get some big time R&R. Thanks Susan!!

    Jared2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about the house is as advertised. It is off the beaten path-beautiful, quaint cottage by the sea. Brandy was easy to get ahold of and prompt with replies. Great chance to see small town local Maine!

    Emily2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and relaxing! Fit us and our three kids easily and great kid spaces to play.

  • We had an amazing stay in Addison. We really appreciated Susan's quick responses while booking/asking questions prior to our arrival. The cottage is adorable and has everything you need. If you're looking for a quite getaway on the coast a bit off the beaten path, but close enough to take day trips, this is the place for you. We'd highly recommend staying here and would love to come back again soon!

    Kayla2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • South Addison is a quiet little fishing village, and close to other excursions, so the week goes fast while you come and go from this homey little cottage, thanks for the stay!

Bay Meadow Cottages, in the village of Salisbury Cove, offer a tranquil setting along the coast of Maine. Early 20th century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. Picnic tables and fire pits grace the lawn to provide a setting to enjoy your morning coffee or roast marshmallows while you reflect on your day's adventures. We are an easy 5 minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park and just 10 minutes to Bar Harbor.
Take your kayaks or borrow our paddle boards and launch with ease right from our beautiful beach out front or book our sailing experience on Airbnb! Sail the waters of beautiful Frenchman Bay! Enjoy a view of Acadia National Park from the water & breathe in the salt air. Expect that we’ll be about 2 hours from the time we depart the docks until our return. www.airbnb.com/experiences/1505720
  • We had the best experience, which began with thoughtful emails in advance with everything we needed to know regarding check-in and area highlights, including the best lobster dinner spot. Spotlessly clean inside (great mattress!) and well-tended outside. There were a fire pit for summer evenings, and Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Tiny local postoffice disguised as a wee house, just across the road. The shower is tiny, but the water pressure is great. All the kitchen amenities you'd need to be comfortable. I would look forward to spending several relaxing days here, although regrettably, we only had the one night this trip. Close to town and the entrance to Acadia. Very peaceful at night as it's a short way off the main road. We had The Lighthouse cottage--unobstructed view, lovely porch and bbq, and all the cottages are situated with plenty of space between each. It has my whole-hearted recommendation for a quaint, charming visit!

  • My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the little cottage. This is the perfect location for 2 people looking to head to Acadia National Park. The local coffee was a nice touch. Would stay here again.

  • Great location and super clean cottage in the Bar Harbor area. We were just a 5 min drive from Acadia National Park. Owners are on sight daily if you need anything. Steve is very personable and Kirsten offered lots of tips on local food establishments before our trip which helped us plan. The cottages are small but certainly adequate and very quiet when we were there in early September. Free WIFI was nice to have although it was spotty in the evenings, but let’s be honest...get off your electronics and get outside and explore this beautiful harbor town! We would definitely stay here again and HIGHLY recommend this place!

    Jennifer2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved staying at the Bay Meadow cottages. Our cottage was so cute and cozy. I loved how easy and close it was to get to Acadia and downtown bar harbor. During our stay it was cold and rainy so we didn’t get to use the paddle boards that Steve and Kirsten have, but our room came with local coffee that kept us warm and cozy while we stayed in. We also could have went into the office/barn where they had a fire going and an area for guests to hangout. We only got to meet Kirsten and she was absolutely lovely, she provided us with so much information on things to do and a couple maps to help us figure out where it all was. Bar harbor was amazing and we fell in love with it there. When we return we will surely be staying at the cottages again!

    Heather2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite Airbnb spots! You couldn't ask for a better location - close to Acadia entrance, beautiful view, and short drive to Bar Harbor when you want some great food/shopping. Upscale cabin because the extras - coffee, unlimited towels, wine glasses/opener, access to ice, and exceptionally clean space. Steve & Kirsten were super friendly and helpful. This is a place to come back to over and over.

    Julie2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Kirsten were wonderful hosts and really nice people! Steve gave us really good suggestions on where to eat and what to see. The cabin was so clean and comfy and they thought of everything we might need. The towels were super soft and plentiful and the complimentary coffee was a really nice added touch! We will definitely be staying again if we can get back that way!

☪Mardi Gras is here and Summer weekends are booking up. Visit Acadia Park & Bar Harbor by day then leave the tourists behind and stay with us. Our 1.4 acre shore front family retreat is the former home of a talented 🖌 painter. Like Ruth, we fell in love with this quiet coastal sanctuary. It's the perfect place to reconnect with nature while staying on grid. ☪ At night you will experience deafening silence under the natural light of the stars. WiFi and satellite TV keep you connected 🔌.
I don't normally recap our reviews here because you know where to find them, right? But here's what Rachel wrote ✍ on November 4, 2018... “This place has a fantastic view! It has a wood burning stove which it fantastic! The house was extremely clean and comfortable! We would stay there again!.” If you are looking to explore Acadia National Park by day and sleep away from the tourist crowd, this is your place. We are located approximately 26 miles from the Schoodic entrance of Acadia & 46 miles from the Bar Harbor entrance. Bar Harbor gets the most tourist traffic. Schoodic Peninsula is also spectacular but less visited. Our retreat is in a quiet location on Flat Bay. Tides come in & out twice a day changing the water level by 170". Our girls love to swim in the bay at high tide and then explore the exposed bay floor at low tide. It is a remarkable phenomenon to witness if you've not seen it before. Bring your kayak or paddle board to explore the bay. If you need a dock, there is a public one in Milbridge but not in our backyard. You will often have the entire bay to yourself. Bring water shoes if the coastal shoreline is an issue for bare feet - our kids wear them, I can go either way. The walls and floors in our home are relatively quiet and two of the three bedrooms have doors that open to the Bay. Early risers can get up and out pretty easily without waking kids/guests sleeping in the other rooms. We are dog friendly. Housebroken/well behaved dogs are welcome. Nearby (in miles) ✔ Groceries/restaurants 6 ✔Robertson's Sea Tours 4 ✔ Gordon's Wharf 2 ✔ Milbridge Farmer's Market (Saturday AM, in season only) 6 ✔ McClellen Park 9 ✔ Chipman's Wharf 6 ✔ Down East Sunrise Trail 10 ✔ Ellsworth (chain stores) 37 ✔ Bar Harbor 49 ✔ Acadia Park Schoodic 26 ✔ Petit Manan Wildlife Preserve 13
Our neighbors are artists, university professors and lifelong Milbridge residents. The draw for us the unique combination of solitude and amenities. Our kids love to swim in Flat Bay. We often have the entire bay to ourselves. The coastal landscape is stunning but the best thing about our community is that the people are very friendly and will go out of their way to help if you ask. Coming from a larger suburban area, this can be a bit of a culture shock.
  • Never having been to the “Bold Coast”, “Down East” or Acadia NP, we decided to make a late season road trip. The description of Stephens place sounded like what we were looking for - a comfortable place for us and our dog to get a feel for the tides and the woods. Our expectations were exceeded. The cabin was very comfortable and more spacious than we needed. Because of the rural location we were able to take long walks on both the beach (low tide) and the road. We had picked up groceries to make some basic meals and found that we didn’t even get in-the car 2 of the days. We did drive over and explore Acadia one day. It was November, with early (4:15) sunsets and cool temperatures, but the bedding, wood stove (thanks for the wood provide) and propane heater in the sunroom kept us cozy warm. I would definitely return.

  • Perfect little hideaway in a classic Maine town with the comfort of home. The leaves were rustling in the evening breeze and gorgeous view in the morning of the bay. It is a bit put of town from Ellesworth and Bar Harbour, but it was relaxing. Wifi is hit and miss but was able to get Verizon 4G access at the house. Will definitely look forward to staying here again.

  • This house is in a quiet and private location with only a few houses on the street. The view is unique overlooking the bay. It is a bit of a drive from Acadia if that is where you want to go but it gives you a real feel of rural Maine. We loved this place.

    Margaret2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay!! Three sixty-somethings on their first trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The cabin is exactly as described, it’s a cabin for a family to enjoy while experiencing the wonders of Maine. There are TVs, but we had a great 3-night Scrabble tournament, tied up at 2 each, and got more fresh air than we deserved. Not one of us check d our work emails!! I call that perfection. The night sky was beautiful, the sound of the water coming in, and even a slight breeze.

This rustic and simple one-room cottage was built around 1975 and was used as a fishing camp. We've taken it out of the deep woods and relocated it where it now overlooks the river of our 2 acre land. It's outfitted with electricity, ample kitchen and counter space with electric stove and sink. There’s a hot water heater! A sweet little shower for your pleasure as well. There’s no flushing toilet in the cottage there is an outhouse about 50 ft. or so from the cabin.
The driveway is .5 miles long and is a maintained but sometimes pretty rugged dirt road. Four-wheel drive is not necessary in the summer time. The river is great for fishing and relaxing. Please take note that we allow fly fishing only with barbless hooks. I do just want to mention that the cabin is deep in the woods up a mountain, and hosts all the wilds have to offer. You may have glimpses of moose and mouse, frogs and flies; by the nature of living here we play host to them all. In the interest of full disclosure, I want you to know so that you are aware that critters are here in our area and sometimes in our living spaces. Just about everyone has embraced them so far but some who have not ventured in the woods before have become surprised to see a mouse which made them uncomfortable to be around. Please be the judge on this for your own creature comfort!
This piece of Earth is a beautiful place for people to relax and play. Taking the hiking trail to the ledge overlook is awesome too and that is why I'd like to share this space with you. Come for a weekend, or come for a while. Escape civilization to this incredible and peaceful getaway! Reconnect with nature and disconnect from technology on your own private picturesque forest surrounded by pristine and untouched nature. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS LISTING if you are afraid of nature or its creatures. Understand you are surrounded by thousands of completely untouched nature. You are very likely to hear (or see) coyotes, owls, seals, roadrunners and bunnies. There is a bobcat in the area but these are usually very skittish. There are mice in the Maine Mountains. About once a month, a guest will complain that they saw a mouse. Said mouse might come into the cottage if food is left outside the fridge. We do not offer refunds if a mouse comes into the cottage but we do have 4 traps around the cottage so the odds are heavily stacked against the mice.
  • Absolutely loved this little cabin. It offered an amazing weekend getaway! Thanks so much!

    Molly2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place! If you are looking for natural beauty and serenity in the Maine woods, you could not find better accommodations. The cabin occupies a beautiful setting on the ridgeline overlooking the river below. It is well-appointed with a small fridge, basic camp cooking supplies, and a small but powerful water heater. With its indoor plumbing and reliable electricity, one could easily spend several days (or longer) here. The bed was very comfortable and the loft-style sleeping setup makes great use of the space. Unless you are absolutely terrified of nature (and in which case, what are you doing in this part of Maine anyway??) this is a must-book Airbnb!

  • I. Loved. This. Place. The description and pics left me scratching my head, but I rolled the dice. It is the sweetest little cabin. If bugs or mice etc bother you, then maybe you’re in the wrong part of the country. I saw a couple insects, nothing to worry about. The cabin is great and the river is literally right there. I could see fish splashing from the living room window. Do not hesitate to book if you’re looking for a little cabin and an authentic Maine experience, I’ll be back!

Per governor's orders, only accepting: May - Essential workers June - Maine residents July - Anybody who has completed 14 day quarantine in Maine, or for the duration of a 14-day quarantine. December - May short term retreats. June-September Friday to Friday rentals. Perched just 60 feet from the ocean, and surrounded by large cedar and pine trees, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful Maine retreat. The view is spectacular, and wildlife abounds. Watch the lobster boats work their traps just in front of the house during the warmer months. From the house, watch ducks float by, eagles soar overhead, the occasional seal pop up to say hello, and the neighborhood deer tromp across the lawn. Two bedrooms (one queen bed in the master, and one small bedroom with double bed), a loft area for games and relaxation, a loveseat with fireplace, kitchen and dining area. Large patio with seating. Rents for $1350 on a monthly basis during the winter months (contact for full details). Rental includes electricity up to $200/month (main heat source is a heat pump), internet and plowing.
Located in a private cul-de-sac, the neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. If you're looking for touristy town experience, this is not your place! If you want a genuine Down East experience with access to great hiking, kayaking, and quiet, this IS your place. This is a relatively secluded location, which means that there will be times when it seems you have the entire bay to yourself. It also means that going to dinner will be at least a 15 minute drive to the nearest town, or be prepared to BBQ on my grill! You can see and hear neighbors through the trees when they are there, and so guests are asked to be respectful of neighbors on either side.
  • if you're looking for an amazing place to relax by the ocean, this is it! the water goes from blue to green to aqua and the seabirds complete the whole picture.

  • Kim's chalet is incredible! The location and view is unparalleled. It was the perfect, cozy winter retreat.

    Meghan2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely LOVED our time at this slice of heaven on earth. The setting, spectacular and off the beaten track, was just exactly what we were hoping it would be. It allowed us to unplug, relax and reflect. The tips and itinerary ideas provided by Kim were much appreciated. We went to Chipman’s for lobster twice and thoroughly enjoyed our drive through the blueberry barrens (the directions Kim provided were spot on, luckily because none of the dirt roads are marked). We took day trips to hike in Acadia twice and went to Schoodic Point twice as well! My husband is an artist and we would start the day with coffee out on the rocks; he would paint the guillemots, boats and buoys and I would read until we were ready to venture out and explore. The Nor’easter that blew into New England provided a good reason to just stay in and enjoy a fire while watching the wind blow outside. The accommodations were comfortable and exactly as described. Kim responded quickly and was very open to questions even though she was out of the country at the time. A wonderful, memorable vacation! It was hard to leave.

    Joan2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Kim, Is a wonderful host! Quick to communicate, and provides some great local suggestions for eating, shopping, and more. Her home was spotless, and had everything we needed. Location is about 1.5 hr from Mount Desert Island Acadia National Park, and just 20 Min from Schoodic Point, Schoodic Peninsula, and Winter Harbor. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck watching the beautiful sunrises come up over the bay, absolutely beautiful with the fall colors. This home is right on the bay with some absolutely stunning views. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats come by and check their pots. We would absolutely stay here again.

  • It cannot be stressed enough how fantastic Kim’s location is! The water is right there! The view is incredible, the house is well appointed and wonderfully cozy. I loved how secluded it felt but it was just a hop skip to adventures. Kim left wonderful suggestions and itineraries if you didn’t know where to start. I would suggest this location in a heartbeat!

  • Kim's place was absolutely fantastic! We had such a wonderful and relaxing week at her chalet. The location is gorgeous and the space is super cozy and clean. She also provided great recommendations for what to do and eat in the area. A highly recommended place to stay in Down East Maine!

My place is close to the water. You’ll love my place because of its peacefulness and beauty. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
  • The cottage was cozy, quiet and had a great view! There was lots of local information provided for hikes and walks. We paddled right from our location and also bicycled. The roads were nice and quiet. We will be back in the future! Thanks for all the great information! It came in handy!

This is a tiny cabin, 10 ft by 12 ft with a loft. The loft will sleep two, and there is also a pullout for a third person on the ground floor. The cabin has solar lights. There is no bathroom in the cabin, but guests may use the bathroom in the main house, about a hundred yards away. We also have four very clean, well maintained out-houses. This cabin was built for my own personal use, and I can promise that it is very quiet and peaceful. Guests may also use our kitchen.

Small private cozy cabin on the shore of Bog Lake in Downeast Maine. All the comforts of home unplugged from the hustle and bustle of day to day. Elevated panoramic views of the lake for the perfect sunsets, large deck with patio furniture, fire pit for gatherings, grill and kitchen.
Queen sized bed in the master bedroom, and twin bunks in the adjoining bunk room.
Quiet neighborhood with kids, dogs and people around.
  • Beautiful and cozy little spot, very comfortable and great for getting away from the race of life for a short time.

    Dimitrios2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • It's great place that is right on the water. Looking out from the deck you could almost think you're on a boat. Bog lake, despite the name, is no bog. You have a beautiful view down the lake. While there are neighbors, you hardly notice due to the arrangement of the property and the deck, where you'll be spending most of your time, feeling very private. Very peaceful and quiet.

    Kevin2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome time at the cottage! It was well equipped with everything you needed for your stay and was very clean. It was very peaceful and sitting down by the lake at sunset was beautiful. It’s the perfect place to get away and relax! Would highly recommend and we would love to stay again!

  • Cathy’s place was great. Super quiet and off the beaten path away from tourist spots. Amazing views.

    Gabby2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing, just as pictured. We stayed only one night for a wedding, but because of the location, I wish we could have stayed all week! What great views! Cathy was a very responsive host, and the cabin was sparkling clean. I will repeat what some have said, the bathroom is very small, larger people may not be able to use the toilet, and changing in the bathroom may be difficult. I'll hopefully be able to come back! Thanks Cathy!
