  • Our stay at Lovely Lakeside on Lake Echo was absolutely wonderful! Tiffany is a welcoming and most gracious host who saw to our every comfort. The waterfront location is peaceful and very private with a beautiful lounge area, BBQ and bonfire right on the water. The house is immaculate, tasteful, and comfortable. We highly recommend this spot...it was hard to leave the serene water and the gorgeous sunset views.

Surf, fishing village, outer islands to explore, crows teasing the Eagles, sand and pipers feasting on clams at low tide. Diverse community of surfer, fishermen, artists. Experience a north east storm. Bring your surf board, paddle board. Hike the east coast trail. Lots of rentals for all this stuff. Beside Lawrencetown, Conrad, Lands end Stonebeach or Martinique beach are the main surfing... 30 Min to Dartmouth or Halifax downtown - 40 Min to the Airport. You're central but still quiet.
Porters Lake with restaurants and shopping area, not far to martinique beach - the longest sand beach in Nova Scotia
  • Super friendly and easy to talk to. Right in between two surf breaks that you can rent from. 6mins to grocery stores. Tucked away in the woods. Clean and enjoyable. Also they have a Bernese Mountain Dog that is shy but nice and got along well with my male dog that is very social.

  • Thank you Matt & Ute for hosting us (me and my boyfriend Edson). We are glad that we are their first guests. Everything was clean and tidy. The room was in good condition. They decorated the it with cozy Christmas theme. Matt & Ute were respectable and friendly. They gave us apple pies which were so delicious (my boyfriend said that it was one of the most delicious pie that he had). They have a big doggy named Keith (not sure if I pronounce his name correct or not). Keith was so cute and big (he is heavier than me haha). I like the moment when Keith was standing in the living room looking people outside. We had a great relaxing time. All the best for Matt and Ute.

  • AJ was an amazing host. Great space for family of 5. We had an amazing time!

    Cristina2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • i have stayed at A.J.'s place 3 times and never tire of it. The house is cozy and very clean. The scenery is amazing as the house backs on to a small salt water inlet and one can see the tide coming and going. It is close to a small plaza with a grocery store, a liquor store and gas among a few other stores. Close to beautiful beaches and the city of Halifax is about a half hour away so the best of both worlds.

    Barb2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this property. The house is both an old and modern mix giving it lots of character and charm. Everything is extremely clean. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

    Marilyn2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • A.J. is a great host. Compared to friends that had Air bnb's in the same area, ours had more kitchen wares and utensils for grilling. There were puzzles we enjoyed putting together in down time. The trash, recycling was organized and easy for us to understand and put in the appropriate bins. Hands down an amazing experience. We were very comfortable and enjoyed out time. 10/10 would recommend and stay again.

  • This place was very amazing. Very nice and quiet location. Close to water. Located to an amazing pizzaria “toulany’s”. Hose was very polite and easy to communicate. Location is close to walking trail. 20 min drive to and amazing beach. The house was sparkling clean. Would recommend going back.

    RemiMarie2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at A.J.‘s cottage. The place was super clean when we arrived and it felt like home. Kitchen is perfectly equipped for cooking and we loved the TVs with Netflix and other features. Looking glasses for bird spotting was a nice extra and of course the location by the inlet was beautiful. It was very quiet and felt private. Halifax is not too far away either. Overall Nova Scotia is gorgeous and we were happy to spend our time in this AirBnB.

    Sally2019-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • I loved this cozy, well-appointed home. Everything was perfect. The only thing the pics can’t capture is the peaceful ambience. Am looking forward to going back!

  • Not only was this a beautiful spot - great for a relaxing retreat but Katharine really put lovely extra touches into the space, including fresh-made bread from the local bakery waiting for us! I will be back and I highly recommend!

    Sara2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • I can honestly say this spot is worth 5 stars in every category. It was immaculately clean, a perfect location and view, and had everything one could need. When my boyfriend and I opened one of the side table drawers in the bedroom to find a sleep mask and ear plugs we actually laughed because we couldn’t believe how much every detail was thought of. Perfect hospitality. Katherine will respond to any concern you have or leave you to your privacy if that’s what you prefer. I will absolutely be back here.

    Lauren2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our time at Kathy and John’s harbour house was amazing! The apartment is immaculate and full of warm touches that make you feel welcomed. The view of the harbour is spectacular, especially when you watch the sunset in the hot tub. I recommend this inviting space to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in the area.

    Braelin2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What’s not to love about this beautiful spot and wonderful hospitality of Katharine and John. Everything was above and beyond and we refer to this as our favourite getaway place.

    J2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy place is well decorated and very clean. The host has a unique flair and does everything to make people feel comfortable and at home, with special little "extras". Beautiful view of the water. Hot tub was a bonus!

    Cindy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home that over looks the water! Katharine thought of everything from little dishes for jewellery on the bedside tables to a well stocked pantry and fridge. There are endless activities inside in case the weather is problematic but otherwise the property is on a beautiful space and the outdoors will keep you busy. This was a wonderful trip and we enjoyed every dish of chocolates and candies :)

    Olivia2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • When we first arrived we already knew we were in for a treat just based off of the magnificent view of the inlet. We were visiting the area to see family and were travelling with our 8-month old baby. Katharine had absolutely everything we could have needed when travelling with an infant. The crib was set up for us and she provided us with lots of baby products to use (baby bathtub, soaps, toys, books, baby seat, etc.) and even a sweet gift with a new baby bib! Above and beyond would be the best way to summarize our stay. The hot tub at night was an amazing treat for us tired parents. We were able to relax and look at the stars even though it was below zero. Honestly, we have absolutely nothing negative to say. We even had fresh brown bread and jam from local vendors provided by Katharine... and little chocolates nestled into every room so that we always had a treat nearby. Need I say more?

  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage during the week of Christmas. Our hosts were very accommodating, letting us get in early and stay late. They even had a little Christmas tree for the kids to decorate. We appreciated the fire, firewood and the use of the hot tub. The cottage is equipped with everything you need. The view is spectacular and we were close to walking/running trails. Beautiful spot. Thank you for everything!

  • The Doucette Lodge is a beautiful, scenic, well-appointed Air B&B with two bedrooms, large living room with large, wall-mounted TV and excellent WiFi, bath, and fully equipped kitchen/dining area. We arrived as planned Saturday, October 19 prepared to spend time touring Halifax. Because David was undergoing some physical distress, Host Nikki directed us to the ER at Dartmouth General Hospital a few minutes away. While he recovered from emergency surgery there (and recommends the hospital for its superb care), Nancy received terrific hospitality and support from Nikki. Upon dismissal, David returned and had the chance also to enjoy Nikki’s hospitality - which was beyond compare! We are so grateful for Nikki and Peter's help.   Anything one would need (and more) is supplied for bathroom and kitchen, and the beds are very comfortable. The website photos are as we found the place. It is as modern and charming as it looks, and the view of the lake is simply beautiful. We would return here for another trip in a heartbeat!

  • Paul's place is absolutely lovely, and with every amenity I could think of! Clean and very peaceful, with a hot tub by the water that was so wonderful and felt especially decadent in the winter temperatures. Paul went above and beyond, offering to pick up groceries for me in light of how late I would be arriving. So generous! I would be very happy to recommend Paul's to all my friends & family. The location and home are beautiful and serene. The wood stove was a lovely touch.

All the amenities of home & special touches of hair products in the bathroom for personal use. Enjoyed sitting in the evening out in his Gazebo. Private cottage on Porters Lake with 4 bedrooms, large deck, and big kitchen. Private dock, BBQ and fire pit down by the water. It’s about 15 minutes to Lawrencetown Beach, and about 35min to Halifax.
There are four bedrooms - one queen bed, one double and two smaller twin rooms. There is a washer and dryer in the basement.
The cottage is on a lane with just one other house. It is tree-lined and very private. A path takes you down to the dock to enjoy the lake. There is a paddle boat by the dock and several life vests. A 5 minute drive away is a huge grocery store, liquor store, several restaurants and a Tim Hortons. Beautiful Lawrencetown Beach is a 10 minute drive away and Halifax is about 35 minutes.
  • I highly recommend Kim's place, a lovely space with all the comforts of home. Spotless accommodations

    Helen2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kim and Chris's lake house is a great place to stay in Porters Lake. We swam off their dock, used the paddle boats they provided, and found it easy to stock up on supplies at the Porters Lake Shopping Centre, just a ten minute drive away. Thanks for your hospitality

    Nancy2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great quiet stay and especially enjoyed the pontoon and this view so Zen! The house is ideally located, spacious and lacks nothing. It's really the perfect place to experience Nova Scotia in a serene way. Thank you to our host for this wonderful moment.

  • Very nice place and location, well worth it

    Charles2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great location for traveling around Nova Scotia. The added bonus of having a lake on the property was awesome for my children .

    Angela2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We are a family with three teens, so it was great for each of them to have their own room. The home had great privacy from neighbors, no local traffic and nice access to the lake, with paddle boats included! Also, very nice living room with lots of TV channels to relax after long days or trekking nearby to Halifax, Dartmouth and Truro areas. The host was extremely quick to respond to questions and had helpful suggestions for local amenities. We really liked the location and home and will seriously consider coming here again.

    Holly2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is an awesome deal. The price is right. Kim and Chris are so easy to connect with and answer any questions very quickly. The house is spacious, the beds comfortable, and everything you might need to cook or clean is there. It is wonderful to walk down the path in the back to the private dock and sit, with a fire pit and bar-b-que if you feel so inclined. You can even take out a paddle-boat (peddle-boat). There is also a bar-b-que on the spacious deck at the house, so the choice is yours. Beautiful, serene, quiet, super clean and just a short drive from Halifax (about 35 minutes). I highly recommend this place. Would be especially great for a family with children (4 bedrooms). And, added bonus, there is a superstore and liquor store, just 5 minutes away.

  • Great stay, even in the winter. I enjoyed a brisk walk on the near by beach and watched some winter surfers. The provincial park is also close and was a beautiful snowy walk, great for snowshoeing. The home theater and workout room were also enjoyed during the stormy evening. Quiet, warm, cozy and comfortable stay, perfect for my week to rest and rejuvenate. I was very happy the kitchen was well supplied with all the tools to cook my meals. Quality bed, pillows and towels were all nice touches as well. Many thoughtful touches and I can imagine it would be even more enjoyable in the summer. Thanks El!

Cozy Lakeside Bungalow. Enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Echo while being only a short drive to the city.
Whole house is yours to enjoy plus full access to beautiful Lake Echo.
There is a small convenience store (Echo Pizza and Variety) a 5 minute walk away, just across the bridge. And a larger convenience store (On Your Way) located just as you're leaving Lake Echo towards Halifax. You can get food delivery from Crazy Weasel (902-829-2222). Our favourite place for pizza is Toulany's (902-827-4900) in Porters Lake (the next town over). They do not deliver, but are only a 5 minute drive away. During the summer, you can get great fish and chips/burgers from Gazoos (902-827-3435) in Porters Lake.
  • The pictures do not do this house justice. Sparkling clean and still smells new. Had a beautiful view of the lake.

  • We recently stayed at this incredible cottage with our two children on our trip to Nova Scotia. This place came very highly recommended to us by friends who had also stayed here and it did not disappoint. The space was exceptionally clean and spacious. It had absolutely everything we needed. We would tour around during the day and come back to the cottage to enjoy the lake, kayak, stand up paddle boards and amazing view in the evenings. Comfortable beds made for an excellent night sleep as well. We just wished we lived closer so that we could enjoy this wonderful spot again! Douglas was easy to communicate with and would respond to questions quickly! We can’t say enough great things about this rental!

    Miaya2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Hands-down one of the best places we've ever stayed at. Would return in a heartbeat. Extremely clean, spacious, and well renovated/remodeled with everything aligned. Douglas trusted us enough to use our good judgment that no written notes were needed to tell visitors how to operate a TV or a machine. Everything simply worked. Massive beautiful calm lake in the backyard, with your own pier. Douglas kindly allowed us to use his kayak, paddleboat, lifejackets, and other related amenities that were surprisingly provided, including bug spray and sun lotion. His neighbors are also very friendly and welcoming. It was really easy to find the house from the road. The house is conveniently located about 25 mins away from downtown Halifax (with a CA $1 cash bridge toll each way), and great food establishments and stores within a 10-15 min driving distance. Even the roads between the airport and house were very smooth, clean, and well maintained, with gentle curves, rolling hills, and great views in the background. Even better when you drive during sunrise or sunset on a clear day. Douglas provided a laundry basket, an efficient washer/dryer with all the materials needed for doing laundry. There were some food items in the dry pantry, hot sauce in the fridge and essentially a fully functional kitchen. The open concept of the living room and kitchen worked well, and we were able to watch Netflix on the Roku by logging into our own account. Our group of four loved staying at Douglas' place and would happily return!

We couldn’t have been any happier with our stay!

Maggie's Way is a quiet cottage on a deep tidal channel with spectacular natural views yet close to numerous amenities. It has a large deck great for bird watching, sunbathing, and sunsets. The view- a navigable salt water channel and uninhabited islands. It is also minutes drive to sandy beaches and picturesque trials. Fully equipped kitchen and new tub and shower. Availability: if any date is bold that date and the next 2 are open even if not bolded.
The cottage is located on land passed down through 5 generations. The lane off the East Chezzetcook Rd. leads you to a large open field and the cottage is at the end of that, pearched to have spectacular views of the salt water Chezzetcook Inlet and uninhabited islands below that you may want to explore by your canoe/kayak from a private 'beach' front. It is safe for swimming but a bit mucky for most. If you prefer, Long Beach popular with swimmers, beach comers and surfers, is just a 6 mins drive down the road. Just over the breakwater of Long beach there is also a lovely freshwater lake for a swim after wave jumping. A truly unique experience . Here is the link to the tidal times for the saltwater inlet. https://www.airbnb.ca/hosting?published_listing_id=25110518 As listed, the cottage/camp has 2 bedrooms. One with a double bed and the bunk bed is a double/single. The cottage has satalite TV, a DVD player, great cell phone reception, a couple electric heaters and a fan. Lots of linens, table cloths and extra blankets. The larder is also moderately stocked: sugar, some spices, ketchup, oil and vinegar. Activates: cards, cribbage board, dart board, washer toss and puzzels.
Close to numerous beaches and plenty of shopping for all supplies. Or eat out or grab a pizza. No need to over plan.
  • A quiet and cozy place to relax.

The location is great, not far out of Dartmouth/Halifax and close to some beautiful beaches. You can swim on the property, better at high tide though! Low tide gets mucky but nice off the sand bar once you get there. Would definitely recommend this place to others!

  • A great space! The window overlooking the lake was incredible. It was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. The soaker tub was a great bonus. We stayed in the winter, and I suspect it's even more lovely in the summer time. Rebekah was quick to respond to questions. The indoor fireplace, however, was turned off while we were there.

  • Amazing stay! Such a great way to start off reading week. We wished we could stay again!

    Maddison2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Rebekah's place is great in every way. The house itself is very cozy and homey. The view of the lake from the living room is beatiful. We got everything we needed and more. The kitchen is nicely equipped, and the provided towels and everything are a great touch. Literally the only problem we had was me being slightly too tall for the shower head. We all had a great time staying here, we highly recommend staying here!

  • Great place 👌🏾

    Loic2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Rebekah’s place was very good. Location is within 30 mins from downtown Halifax and the view is stunning. We would love to visit back again in the summer.

    Mohamed2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rebekah's place is a rare gem. The home is big enough for multiple guests (we had six adults) yet cozy enough to enjoy quality time together. The kitchen is stocked with everything to make a Thanksgiving feast (as we did) and each of the bedrooms are equipped with many blankets and pillows. The mattresses are so comfortable, it's such a treat. There's lots of family board games and amenities for small children. The views and the backyard are the real highlight - we had bonfires, went out on the dock and enjoyed the lake access. Five stars to the hosts for answering all our questions right away. I'd highly recommend this spot.

    Rebecca2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous view! The beds were comfy as well. Its definitely a place that will make you feel relaxed and calm. Can not wait to go back.

    Larissa2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The house is large, fully equipped, the bedding is clean, the heating effect is good, and the house is in a good location. It is perfect if it can be better protected in hot water supply. Overall it is very good.

Private seaside country side home tucked away amongst the birds and trees with beautiful harbour views
*Pet Friendly* This house sits on 5 acres of old farmland with 400 feet of private Tidal ocean access. It is the perfect spot to launch a boat and explore out to fishermans reserve or down the Porters Lake Canal into Porters Lake. There are two decks off of the house. A large wrap around south facing deck off the main living area with views of a local fishing village and ocean inlet. A second deck is off the kitchen equipped with a bbq and seating area for all of your grilling needs! Additional flat grass areas available on property for tents/RV’s/tent trailers. There is a fire pit on site with free wood supplied. All we ask is to abide by the local fire restriction rules for the province. There is an indoor fireplace which is ONLY available during cold weather stays. *Extra experience* My good friend, Kim Macpherson, is a personal chef and owner of Food Intuition in Musquidoboit Harbour (check out her website). She is offering in house private dinners for our guests who wish to try some delicious local food and extra hospitality. She requires ADVANCED booking for this service so please contact host for further details. This experience comes highly recommended as her food is beyond delicious.
This accommodation is easily accessible to the trans canada trail. So if you enjoy biking/running/walking we would recommend jumping on the trail to explore the beautiful trail system that connects you to local beaches, cafes or the famous Hope for Wildlife sanctuary. If you prefer a more relaxed stay just kick back and enjoy the sun on the deck, walk down to the ocean, or take a short stroll to the property hilltop and take in the panoramic ocean views. The Harbour House is only a 20 minute drive from Downtown Dartmouth and a less than 5 minute drive to the well known Lawrencetown beach.
  • Was a lovely place to stay - was so great to have coffee and tea at the house as we forgot ours! Would def recommend a stay of at least 2 days to ensure time to unwind and enjoy💕

Bright, cozy & clean this sweet cottage (we call it the Bunky) is a perfect place to get-away and the perfect home base for you beach vacation. Quiet and clam, bright white interior gets lots of sun. We just renovated too: adding hardwood floors, a full sized fridge & a gas stove. We're looking forward to share our little piece of heaven with you, this peaceful paradise, with views of a pond & the ocean beyond, is a perfect place to recharge and reconnect. Find us on Instagram @SeaforthBunky
We renovated this small separate studio building (that we like to call The Bunky) into a one bedroom 'guest house' so our Mum's would have somewhere to stay when they came to visit. We've been upgrading every year to make it better suit their needs. You have a private entry & stairs from the parking area. And access to decent internet (unless it's really rainy): we added a booster in the Bunky for better connectivity. We made it light, bright & open with a small kitchenette. This year we added a full sized fridge & small gas stove to make it easier for my mum, and you, to cook like you're at home. We designed the Bunky so guests can be independent but separated the bedroom & kitchen so our visitors could have visitors but not in their bedroom :) The bedroom (about 135 sq.ft.) has a (perfectly-firm-but-not-too-firm) queen sized bed, closet & dresser, with extra pillows, blankets & a lovely quilt. It also had a great, long, south facing window that lets in lots of light but keeps the space private. The living room/kitchen (about 240sq.ft.) is open and has double glass doors that look out over the pond (oddly called 'Long Marsh', that we enjoy swimming in once it warms up) & the ocean beyond. The L-shaped couch is also a sofa bed (double). There are another couple seating options too & a small dining table with comfy, fabric chairs. The the kitchenette is equipped with a large toaster oven & a gas stove. There is a coffee maker (10 cups if you're hunkering down) and a French press/Bodum if that's the way you like it. There is full height apartment sized fridge. We also stock the kitchen with some pantry staples (like pancake mix & pasta) to make it easier for you to settle in. We also upgraded the BBQ this year for a real summer meal, which is on the wrap around deck. Out the double doors (or the private entry door) you'll find a wrap around deck that catches the sun all day. If you're awake early enough you can watch the amazing sunrises over the pond from the living room or deck. Looking off the deck you'll also get a discrete view of our 'Market Garden'. Here Jeff grows lots of veggies for us and for our Cafe down the road. We have organized it so you can see it if you want (feel free to chat with Jeff if you see him working) but it is sheltered from view somewhat. Depending what's in season we're happy to share some of our gardens bounty with you! Between the bedroom & the living area is the bathroom. A lovely space with a tiled shower & clean fixtures. There is an assortment of toiletries in the drawers for your convenience.
There are beaches & ocean access close by and the scenic Fisherman's Reserve is an easy 45 minute walk away. The Trans Canada Trail is close too and, if you are feeling energetic, it's a 1.5 hour walk to Lawrencetown Beach or a 1 hour walk to our cafe (rose & rooster) in Grand Desert. Rose & Rooster is a local hub & a great place to eat, drink coffee and enjoy some local color. Our hours vary through the year but you can check our website for menu & hours. There are limited eating out options but the grocery store in Porters Lake will have everything you need to cook at home. If you are looking for delicious fish & chips (or clams or scallops!) try Gazoos in Porters Lake (take a right at the T junction at the end of 207 and it'll be straight ahead). Hope for Wildlife, the now famous animal rescue & rehabilitation center, is a fun visit for grownups and kids, it's about 3km away near the Cove beach in Seaforth
  • We absolutely loved our stay. Such a cosy cottage in such a great location hosted by two super-hosts. Highly recommendable!

  • This place will feel like home and you will be planning your next trip back before you head hits the pillow the first night.

    Timothy2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Place was clean, bright, super cozy and warm. Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and the bed was comfy. We brought our two year old son with us and he loved the little touches of around the home and farm. They were able to accommodate us and had a little bed for my son to use as well. Sarah and Jeff's little farm was delightful. They even gave us a little tour and let our two year old son play with some of their toys. The views were great as well! Getting a hold of them was super easy. We would definitely stay here again if on the east coast. Miigweetch for the farm tour! Brit and Mike.

  • Amazing location. Epic sunrises. Close to excellent surf. Clean, comfortable and stylish accomodations. Great hosts.

  • A little Seaforth gem! Not far from the bustle of Halifax/Dartmouth is this sweet, quiet place. Just a short drive to the beautiful Lawrencetown Beach (a gorgeous rock beach with surfers and epic sunsets), as well as their adorable cafe Rose and Rooster (with plenty of vegan options, what a lovely surprise!). The view from the bunky was beautiful, with stunning sunrises and sun streaming into the kitchen. The bed was cozy, place clean, and there was even a little fire pit out front. Also great hosts with excellent communication. A very relaxing place to be. :)

    Sarah2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jeff and Sara’s place. If you are reading this review and trying to decide go ahead and book it. The cabin itself is completely new and elegantly planned, very comfortable and has a great kitchen with cook knives and equipment. Jeff even brought us veggies from his garden. Excellent location close enough to Halifax but far enough to be really quiet with great walking access to the lakes, bays and beaches that characterize this coastline. We’ve stayed in many AirBnBs around the world and this is among the very best.

    Molly2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Jeff were wonderful hosts. The bunky was adorable and has all the comforts of home. Thanks for your hospitality!!!

    Bojana2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place, close to everything, quiet and peaceful. Very clean and so comfortable. Sarah and Jeff are the best hosts. We experienced some effects of Dorian but glamping for a couple of days was ok, good we were on the shore of a small pond to bring water in to add to the experience of glamping. Great find.

Retreat and recover from the stress of the world. No TV or internet just a book and cozy fire. 10 minute walk to beautiful white sandy Martinique Beach and National Park. Famous for surfing and lessons can be taken daily.
Beautiful dock with use of a canoe
15 minutes to musquodoboit Harbour and 45minutes to Halifax
  • We were so lucky to find this little piece of paradise. The cottage is newly built and beautifully decorated. It slept our family of five very comfortably. Having no wifi allowed us to have quality family time together uninterrupted by the draw of technology. We came prepared with a few dvd’s but in the end only watched one or two, choosing rather to play a game of cards or sit down to a board game together in the evenings. The outdoor space is quite lovely, allowing us to enjoy the stunning sunsets from the front deck. Depending on the time of year, come prepared with bug spray though if you want to spend time outside. The close proximity to Martinique Beach was fantastic. For those days where the weather wasn’t ideal for the beach, Dartmouth and Halifax were a short 45 minute drive, allowing us to pop into the city for the day or evening. Vincent was a fantastic host, and got back to us very quickly with any questions we had. We feel so lucky to have been able to spend the week at this lovely cottage and would recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of their lives.

    Ken2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is perfect if you’re looking for a very comfortable, clean and beautiful place to stay while you enjoy what the area has to offer! With gorgeous sunsets over the ocean every night, a fireplace for the cold nights, and very efficient air conditioner, this space was the perfect place for my new husband and I to decompress after the craziness of our wedding! I’d highly recommend this place!!! Hopefully we’ll be able to stay here again!

    Kathryn2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy cottage with breathtaking views and close to a great beach for surfing. Without tv and wifi it allowed us to meet family or board games were at the rendezvous. Thank you for everything Vincent.

    Francis2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The views from Vincent’s place are extraordinary - the photos really don’t do it justice - and the location was perfect for a week of surfing (or at least trying to!) at Martinique beach for my family of 3. We didn’t miss the wifi and we never turned on the TV, but did make good use of the board game collection we found in the evenings. Towels and linens were more cottage than hotel, but clean and plentiful. The kitchen equipment provided was basic, but we had no trouble cooking dinner every night. You need to plan on either cooking or driving a ways for your meals - the nearest town has basic amenities including a Sobeys grocery store, but its pretty tiny. We enjoyed the micro-est of any microbrewery I’ve ever been to in The Harbour Brewing Company in town, but spent most of our week wearing a path between Vincent’s Place and the beach. Halifax Surf School is almost next door (highly recommend), and kept all of us - including my almost-8-year-old well equipped for the week.

  • I would whole heartedly recommend this great BnB. Super comfy bed, kitchen has everything you would need, while place is in top top clean shape, the view is spectacular and it is in a beautiful and peaceful area, yet not to far a drive to Dartmouth. The hosts are very friendly. I will be back!

    Wendy2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Glenn and Virginia were so lovely and accommodating during our stay. The place was very quiet, clean and modern. We really appreciated having fast Wifi. The lake behind the house is gorgeous. Glenn is on top of water safety with his lighted dock and marine kits for the canoes. My husband went out for an unexpectedly long fishing trip in the canoe and Glenn was kind enough to take time out of his day to go check on him to make sure he was ok. There is a park right next door with a little playground and a beach with a lifeguard. Place is close to Hope for Wildlife, Lawrencetown Beach, Clam Harbour and a cute Train Museum. Thanks for a great stay!

  • We had a wonderful time at Virginia and Glenn’s bnb. They are incredibly helpful and absolutely deserve their Superhost status! We had car trouble and they went out of their way to set us up with a great mechanic. The place was spotless and really roomy. Kitchen is very well stocked with every imaginable cooking pot/pan etc. Highly recommend this place!

  • Fantastic comfortable space in a lovely lakeside setting. Scott and Gillian were so helpful while we weathered Hurricane Dorian during the widespread power outage on the whole of Nova Scotia. We always felt safe and secure and knew they were seconds away if we needed anything. Porter’s Lake is close to Halifax and necessary shopping, but feels rural, quiet, and spacious. Highly recommended.

  • A truly stunning home and location. Beautifully decorated throughout and all amenities needed during your stay. Gillian replies quickly to messages and follows up to ensure a comfortable stay. A beautiful lake view! We commuted back and forth from Halifax during our stay ... well worth it! We will surely stay again when travelling this way again!

    Carolyn2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Gillian and Scott’s Airbnb is exactly as described! It truly is a little piece of heaven. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the paddle boards, kayak, beach, trampoline and play set. The apartment was very clean, stylish and tidy. It had every amenity you could. Gillian communicated very quickly and was always able to offer a suggestion. We would suggest this Airbnb to friends and family and would love to come back and visit!!

    Theresa2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gillian's home was awesome. Very spacious and sparkling clean. quick responses when we had questions and very knowledgeable about the area of anything you needed to do. Waterfront property was awesome. Amenities like paddle boards, kayaks, tubes and a mobile raft was just awesome. Coffee and tea sugar cooking supplies and condiments were all supplied. No shortage of towels and face clothes either. We totally enjoyed our stay there with our two grandchildren and our daughter. Thank you Gillian and Scott

  • We spent an amazing week on the Lake with our daughter and I am not sure how we could have asked for a better vacation. We were never bored and our daughter played on the backyard playground and trampoline every second she could!! We had more than enough space and all the amenities we needed. Waking up and having coffee on the dock, watching the sun come up never gets old. Gillian responds very quickly to any questions and was an amazing host. We will definitely be back next year :)

    Lynn2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was the Perfect Blend of a cottage vacation and a family visit to our parents in Dartmouth. The apartment was pristine and very comfortable. We had a blast on the beach with our pup. We enjoyed swimming kayaking and paddleboarding. Gillian Scott and Sarah are all very friendly.

    Sue2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • From the minute we made the reservation, Gillian was very helpful, responding fast and answering all our questions. The apartment is impeccable, nicely decorated and has all you need to feel at home. We spent hours at the lake which has a sandy beach, paddle boards, kayaks, life vests and a very nice dock. You have an amazing view of the lake and the sunsets and sunrises are breathtaking which you can enjoy from both bedrooms and living room or sitting at the lake where they have a fire pit. You are close to many beaches, trails, grocery stores and only 30 min to Halifax. Thank you Gillian, Scott and Myla for sharing your piece of paradise with us we had a great time at your place and feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to meet you. Hopefully we can go back soon to NS and stay at your place.

Note that we use Professional cleaners and products so that when you stay with us you can rest assured the best possible stay ! This new, year-round vacation property, perched on a crescent of ocean frontage, evokes compact, yet spacious European design. The LazyTide on-site amenities include private boat launch, kayak, bicycles and BBQ. Restaurants are within easy walking distance, while white sand beaches, surfing and other charming destinations are just minutes away by car.
Encompassing the north-west cove of Petpeswick Inlet resides the LazyTide coastal property. In early 1900s LazyTide was home to a thriving clam factory. Later, in the fifties, LazyTide was transformed into the infamous LazyTide Dance Hall, as the social hub of the entire Eastern Shore. Following those rollicking times, LazyTide has remained largely fallow - until present! [Thanksgiving 2019] Welcome to LazyTide, an all-season getaway destination, two bedroom ocean front home, where rollicking times are still to be had though no dance hall bar or boot- leggers on-site! A 20-minute jaunt from Dartmouth, along Highway 107 brings you directly into the scenic village of Musquodoboit Harbour. LazyTide is a short stroll to/from the village, where more delights await: restaurants, fresh seafood dine-in/take-out, train museum, art galleries, gift shops, mouth-watering bakery/cafe with WiFi, pharmacy, bank, library, fully-equipped gym, new Tim Horton's gas/food center, as well as our very own craft brewery. Just a 10-minute drive down the coast from LazyTide is Nova Scotia's longest expanse of white-sand beach. Our Martinique Beach is also a world class surfing destination, even throughout the winter months! The scenery along the winding coastline and through rolling farmlands of the Musquodoboit River Valley are always breath-taking whether toured by car or by bike. Numerous hiking, biking and ATV trails, provincial parks and heritage sites are within the immediate surrounds as well as a nearby equestrian center offering 'English' riding opportunities. The LazyTide vacation property includes several on-site amenities: private drive-in launch for guests to bring along their boat or sea-do. A kayak and bicycle with helmet & life-jackets are there for guests to enjoy [at their own risk]. A BBQ and a large fire pit await steaks & marshmallows. The ocean-side observation deck provides panoramic harbour viewing and 'sighing into the sunsets'. A tiny crescent beach is a few meters down the cove where the harbour waters are exceptionally warm from early summer into autumn - great for swimming/snorkelling, though not in the winter! Drop a fishing line off the Petpeswick government wharf while admiring the 'real catch-of-the-day' brought in on the local fishing boats. Arrange with local seafarers for boat trips to explore the sea-coast or to fish off the shoals. It should be noted that LazyTide is not a summer cottage. It is a brand-new, all season, fully equipped residence, with air conditioning and high speed internet. The entire residence envelopes an abundance of bright natural light. Roiling sea storms only enhance the viewing pleasure. Imagine your 'get-away' Christmas or a wintertime escape tucked within the warm ambiance, full-home conveniences and affordability that LazyTide offers. Additionally, the LazyTide property will very shortly be offering guests the opportunity to bring along friends with a RV. Full electrical hook-up on two lots with scenic views can be reserved by our guests at an extra charge. Moreover, because landscaping on this new vacation property is a work-in-progress, LazyTide is presently available at a reduced offering of $150/night. Any advanced bookings at this current rate will be honoured within the calendar year.
  • Clean, stylish, and private with exquisite views. This place was wonderful. Sitting at the waterfront sipping morning coffee and watching the birds go by is completely tranquil. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need. The bed was really comfortable. Great place

  • Very very clean and very cozy, with a welcoming atmosphere and lovely family. Christina and Michael were both wonderful hosts who were quick to help. The neighborhood was the perfect location for me, it was quiet and scenic, but still only about a 30 minute drive to Halifax. You can’t beat the value for the price. I would definitely recommend staying here!

The beach is the best in Nova Scotia.
  • This place is absolutely stunning! I knew it was nice from the photos but absolutely exceeded my expectations when I got there in person. All the windows and natural sunlight are absolutely amazing and the walk to the beach was so worth it! 10/10 recommend people to stay here. It was absolutely fantastic :)

  • Just book it! Dee offers amazing hospitality and her home has nonstop views of the Chezzetcook inlet. We loved that our area was on one level, it was spotlessly clean, and super quiet. Dee lives downstairs but we didn't even hear her. She was quick to shovel the fresh snow from the deck and even cleared our car of snow in the morning!! Highly recommended

  • We were looking for a place on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia to call home over the Christmas holidays, and lucked upon “Deux Soleils”. Being familiar with the area (family nearby), we knew that it was ideally situated near the shore road and 10 mins from the highway, making it easy to get to and from Halifax and the airport as well as local supermarkets, NSLC, etc. Upon arrival, Dee and her dog met us with typical Maritime friendliness, giving us a thorough review of her well-equipped kitchen and the rest of her house. Perched on a hill overlooking the water, it’s got great views and would help anyone decompress. Unfortunately, late-December is not conducive to sitting out on the deck, we still enjoyed the views from the warmth of the living room. There are great beaches both east (Martinique) and west (Lawrencetown) which stretch for miles in either direction. Even in wintertime, they’re great to walk, giving one an appreciation for the expanse of the north Atlantic. Dear Soleils is a home to which we will definitely return in any season!

    Martin2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Dee's place is tranquil and off the beaten path for a great Nova Scotia experience! (Yet close enough to Porter's Lake to grocery stores and a quick 20 minutes to Dartmouth and a bit longer to downtown Halifax.) Great location and beautiful view every morning as the sun rises above the Atlantic!

    Debi2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Dee’s place had everything we needed when visiting Nova Scotia. She was very accommodating and the home was spacious and very clean. Highly recommend this place.

  • Great views! Lovely host!

    Debbie2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dee was amazing! She is very helpful, giving us tips, guide, local things to do, places to go...you will not find anyone else with the same level of detailed information she will provide to you and for free!! House is very cozy, full space for a family (we were 3 adults and 2 kids) nice backyard and terrace with a nice view every morning and late at night...in our case the location was the right one for the things that we want to do, nice place! Thanks again Dee!

  • A wonderful and clean apartment with everything you could wish for to make for a comfortable stay. The beds were really comfortable and there are lovely sea views and a beautiful garden. Our lovely spot right by the Ocean is a quick 25-minute drive from the city and offers stunning views from the comfy living room right by the fireplace. The house was recently acquired and we spent the fall renovating and making it a lovely spot. Some of the rooms in the house still require some upgrading and will not be available ready to be used. There are 3 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and a bathroom available.
The house is situated right on the water and offers 11 acres to roam and explore. There is water access immediately across from the home and a small boat with a shallow draft can be launched. The rooms are equipped with unique and cozy decor and furniture that invites you to relax and enjoy a lovely stay.
Inbetween Lawrencetown and Musquadaboit Harbour, this spot is the perfect spot for a getaway from the city, while still being close to all the stores, coffee shops, and tourist attractions. Surfing is close by, as well as many great hiking trails and horse barns.

The house is an open concept with beautiful natural lighting and an EXCELLENT view. The location is a 5 minute drive from the beautiful Lawrencetown beach. There are many walking trails in the area with one of them actually cutting through the driveway of the location. 10 minute drive from the Porter's Lake Plaza (Tim Hortons, Subway, groceries, liquor, gas, Porter's Lake Pub).

  • Magnificent view, great location on the eastern shore near Halifax. Beautiful surfing and swimming beaches nearby. Expect to drive quite a bit if you want to see the major attractions of the province, but the home you return to is perfect and cozy, great to rest after the days out and about. Host is professional and welcoming. Very nice touches and surprises for the kids and grown-ups. Communication is efficient and easy. Would definitely recommend.

  • The Beach House was way over our expectations. It is the best Airbnb our family has ever been to. The host made us feel right at home from the moment we step into the door. Their generosity, the confort of their home, all the little gestures really touched our hearts. The view is beyond magical, almost a 180 degrees view on the sea. We could stay in bed, and watch the waves before deciding to go surfing or not. We even found a surfing spot meters from the house. It is also very well equipped. We like to cook at home when on vacation and always found everything we needed. We will come back for sure. Thanks Gina for being such a nice host. Pascal, Marine, Mila ans Axelle
