Places to stay in Hardwick
You will feel the stresses of life wash away as you sway in the trees and listen to the sounds of the beautiful stream just feet from the treehouse deck. You'll never want to leave! Enjoy a bit of solitude or some special alone time with a loved one. It's hard to beat Stone City Treehouse to make your time away special!
*** Information regarding current Covid-19 situation and our treehouse: Due to the Vermont Governor's call to close all in-person, non-essential business and stay at home, we will not be taking reservations until April 15th at this point. Hopefully we'll be up and back at it soon! Stay happy and healthy everyone! After your day of hiking, skiing, or touring local breweries and distilleries, come home to this beautiful, private tiny house in the trees! Or, just spend the day lazily relaxing by the fire and reading, while the sound of the stream soothes you. Walk through the woods, up the stairs, and enter into another dimension - one that you won't want to leave! Much thought was put into the design and local, natural, and recycled materials were a priority in its construction. Enjoy the curated interior design while you relax in the living room space and gaze out the large, recycled windows (from an old, local schoolhouse). Enjoy the deck that overlooks the year-round stream (that may be frozen over in the winter) and let the sound of the water wash through you. You may even see some critters if you're still enough! There is a sweet sitting area, hammock, and campfire space just below the treehouse right on the stream, with a dramatic view of the treehouse. You can cook simple meals on the propane campstove (with a griddle option) or use the small charcoal grill in the space under the treehouse. There is a mini-fridge with a separate freezer to keep your fresh produce from the farmers' market and your yummy local beer nice and cool. There's a very primitive (and limited) water system you can use for washing dishes. There is a basic composting toilet in the treehouse for your convenience, but you also have access to a full, modern bathroom at the house, with a brand new, beautiful shower. When it's time for bed, climb up the loft ladder to "the nest" and sink into the brand new, comfy bed. Open up the windows to hear the nighttime sounds of the forest. We prioritize our earth and take environmental considerations into every decision: we have solar; we compost and recycle; we use environmentally friendly cleaning products; we avoid disposable items as much as possible; and we used much local and recycled materials in the construction of the treehouse. The interior structure is 10'x16' with a loft and the deck is 16'x4'.
Hardwick village is three miles away, and it's a lovely, small village with everything you'd need. The treehouse is located in the woods, by a year-round stream. It is three miles from Hardwick Village, located on 20 acres of woods, primarily maple trees and has a lovely year-round stream that flows by the house. Nearby there is plenty to do! Restaurants include: - Village Restaurant - great food, lots of local stuff, try the Jasper Hill Cheese Eggs Benedict! - Positive Pie - great pizza and beer selection. My kids love the garlic knots! Say hi to Butch, the bartender - he's an old friend! - Buffalo Mountain Co-op Cafe - lots of great options for breakfast and lunch! Focusing on local foods, and the store downstairs has everything you need. Lots of great people to meet here, too :) - The Scale House - an amazing new restaurant in town, focusing on fresh seafood from Mass, but also lots of local goodness! - House of Pizza - great pizza at a great price! This is where I always get my takeout pizza, but they do have more than just pizza. - A great new coffee shop called Front Seat Coffee! There's also the local Chinese restaurant, Yummy Wok, and Connie's Kitchen, a local bakery. Other food and beverage- related options abound in the area! - Caledonia Spirits / Barr Hill - I'm a bit bias toward this crew - I've worked for them part-time for years. But, hands-down, the best gin in the world! They had been based in Hardwick but now have a new, amazing distillery in Montpelier. If you like gin, or if you don't like gin, check it out! There's also a lovely vodka made from honey, and a unique barrel-aged gin, called Tom Cat. They've also been working hard on a whiskey that I know will be a big hit! - Hill Farmstead Brewery - voted the best beer in the world for multiple years, this is a Mecca for beer-lovers! Only 20 minutes away, it is definitely worth the trip! - Pete's Greens Farmstand - open seasonally, this is the site of the farm of one of, if not the, biggest vegetable farm in Vermont! Found in Craftsbury, also worth the 20 or so minute drive. - Hardwick Farmers' Market - also a seasonal gem, it's located at Atkins Field at 100 Granite St. in Hardwick lots of great local goodies, from veggies and cheese to plants and crafts, and everything in between! Runs Fridays from 3-6pm, June through September. - Jasper Hill Cheese - they don't have a visitors area and you can't visit the site, but you drive by them on your way to Hill Farmstead and can see the beautiful, painted barn. Amazing, internationally acclaimed cheeses - you can find at Willey's Store in Greensboro or the Buffalo Mountain Co-op in Hardwick. - Willey's Store - Located in Greensboro, you will find literally anything you need here! They have local food and beverages, regular groceries, hardware, housewares, clothing and shoes. This is a sight in itself! - Maple Syrup - Cabot Cheese - Vermont Food Venture Center Outdoor Activities (See Guidebook for more) - Local hiking - Nichols Ledge, Barr Hill, Hardwick Trails... - Local swimming - Nichols Pond, Caspian Lake - Canoeing and Kayaking - Nichols Pond, Caspian Lake, Hardwick Lake - Downhill Skiing - Stowe, Smuggler's Notch, Jay Peak, Burke Mountain are the closest, all about an hour away. - Cross Country Skiing - Highland Lodge, Craftsbury Outdoor Center - Mountain Biking - Kingdom Trails in Burke are world-renowned. You can also rent bikes, including fat tire bikes for snow, at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Entertainment - Highland Center for the Arts - Bread and Puppet - Vermont Vaudeville - Craftsbury Chamber Players - Museum of Everyday Life

  • This little treehouse is so charming and cozy. It’s so nice and warm, and everything you could need is right in the treehouse. Also the porch and lights add such a nice touch. It was so very clean and no bugs even though it’s in the woods. The little creek is also so nice to hear when you wake up in the morning

    Kylie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was a great host! Her communication was perfect! All her instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. The tree house is such a cool space! She had the lights on and fireplace going when we arrived so it was cozy and warm when we arrived. We didn’t get to enjoy the porch too Much as it was rainy but we could hear the brook flowing from inside. We’d love to come back when it’s warmer and everything is green! We had an awesome little getaway.

    Sarah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Magical spot in the woods. Wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Ceilidh's place is gorgeous and bright, with stunning windows and an open feel, even in winter. We have visited twice now and would come back again. Fresh eggs and seasonal maple syrup from the backyard were also a nice touch.

    Nicholas2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ceilidh’s place is so great! The location is awesome, near Hardwick, Hill Farmstead Brewery, Greensboro, and Craftsbury. The house is beautifully decorated, uniquely built, comfortable, and has a full kitchen. I recommend this place highly.

We loved the proximity to Hardwick (Buffalo Mountain Coop), to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for x-c skiing, and to Parker Pie for dinner and local beer. We hope to be back!

From the moment you cross the cedar footbridge over Alder Brook, you'll know you're somewhere special. Featured in Boston Magazine and CabinPorn, Alder Brook Cottage is an inspired, rustic dream cabin located in the woods of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Surrounded by a crystal clear stream and 1400 acres of rugged forest, it is the perfect getaway for glampers looking to experience the tiny house life. Minutes away from Caspian Lake, Hill Farmstead Brewery, and Craftsbury Outdoor Center.
**Read this: this is a rustic cottage—no electricity or running water, and you have to be okay with climbing a loft ladder AND using an outhouse. Buy firewood locally.** When I was young, I had a dream in which I lived in a tiny house in the woods. I still remember every detail of it. As I went through my teens and twenties, the dream never faded…and so, in 2015, my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try. We bought land in the woods of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, and guided by our hearts and many books, we built a tiny house. After you park off the (paved) road, you’ll cross a wooden footbridge over a stream and climb a rocky staircase into the forest. After a couple hundred feet, the house appears through the trees. Inside you’ll find a sunny, cozy space that is perfect for relaxing in the beauty of the woods. There is a kitchenette with a stove and pots and pans, a bathroom with a shower basin, a fold-out daybed, a wood stove, a pull-down table, bookshelves lined with some of my favorite books, and a loft with the most comfortable queen mattress in Vermont. Summer, fall, winter, spring — the cabin is like something out of a fairytale. **You’ll need to bring your own water (2 gallons per person per day is usually enough, and you can refill at a nearby spring on Route 14) **You'll need to buy your own bundles of firewood at nearby Aubuchon Hardware. Don't bring firewood from other places — it transports invasive pests that are currently devouring some of our beloved trees here in the Kingdom! **It is in the woods, but you can still hear cars on the road about 200 feet away. Behind the house is 1400 acres of untouched forest, cliffs, and streams. You’re 5 minutes from the town of Hardwick, with all modern conveniences available. You are nearby tons of pristine lakes and rivers, the best brewery in the world (no joke — Hill Farmstead Brewery has won best in the world many times), the best cheesemaker in the world (Jasper Hill Farm....also no joke), nordic skiing at Craftsbury Outdoor Center, mountain biking at Kingdom Trails, and ski resorts such as Stowe, Burke Mountain, Jay Peak, and many more. Check in: 3pm or later Check out: 10am When you leave: strip sheets, take your trash, clean your dishes, leave no food
Hardwick is a quintessential Vermont village, with a little library, a bookshop, restaurants, and various other businesses along a short main street. There is cross-country skiing and mountain biking in town. You'll love restaurants like The Village Restaurant, Connie's Kitchen, and Positive Pie. A really cool old suspension footbridge crosses the river downtown.
  • This little cabin in the woods is a slice of heaven! My wife and I came here for a birthday weekend retreat and fell in love with Kyle & Jenny’s tiny home. It is very thoughtfully laid out and fits into the landscape seamlessly. The little wood stove is very efficient and kept the cabin super toasty. Sipping on some Hill Farmstead by a crackling fire and no hum of electronics - pure zen full peace! Highly recommend this cabin for a getaway.

    Nathan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Love every minute in this beautiful cabin, as well as exploring the surrounding woods. Great place to disconnect and enjoy the little things nature has to offer!

    Sarah2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy cabin in a beautiful forest! Great space and a perfect weekend escape. We look forward to going back!

    Lucy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • I'll keep coming back to this place because it's so idyllic, it's the perfect way to unwind and relax, it's clean, the scenery is beautiful, and Hardwick is a lovely town.

    Roksi2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a getaway where you can truly get away and re-connect, this gem in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is the place! My girlfriend and I have been there twice now, both in the heart of Winter and it is a snow frosted Wonderland without doubt! And I’m sure every other Season is equally as charming in its own way. Kyle and Jenny’s labor of love, love of nature and simple living is apparent in every aspect of this lovely little cabin.

    Brandon2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was exactly as the post described. They checked in with us the night we got there. The place definitely gets nice and toasty with the stove! Thank you for a great stay.

    Frankie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is perfect for what we desired. Small, cozy, cute, isolated in nature and amazingly well located since I often travel to The Alchemist and Hill Farmstead breweries. There's firewood and ice within 10 minutes drive. The wood stove is small but effective, you just need to baby it a bit as it typically only fits one log at a time once it's going. All in all I would come back to this cabin again and would recommend for anyone looking to be more isolated or closer to Hill Farmstead Brewery.

    Christopher2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We love our stay in this gem hidden in the woods. It’s everything that you think it might be!

This two bedroom guest house offers a cozy interior and its own great views. Play on the property's 32 acres or explore the Northeast Kingdom and surrounding areas where you will find family friendly activities, hiking, biking, skiing, antiquing, and a thriving local food and drink scene. It is a great place for individuals, couples and families to relax and get away from it all! Need a separate private space for just two on the same property- check out the Studio at Dunne Dreamin.
This lovely log cabin is a great place to hang out any time of year. The first floor has a cozy living room with a fireplace a full bath, a kitchen, dining area and a bedroom. There is also a loft bedroom that has two twin beds and enough floor space to accommodate an air mattress or two if extra sleeping space is needed. The kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need to prepare your meals including a keurig coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and stove - pots, pans, dishes, mixing bowls and cutlery, . The covered porch is a wonderful place to watch the sunrise or to relax with a drink after a long day of hiking, biking or kayaking. A large picture window gives you the same view from inside during the cold winter days. There are plenty of outdoors spaces to explore during every season-including an apple orchard and 32 acres of woods -which makes this location especially great for guests with children and dogs. There is an outdoor fire pit as well as great hill options for sledding and snow shoeing in the winter- sleds and snowshoes are available for borrowing. The cottage is attached to the main house but has its own entrance and porch and is completely private. You will never know anyone is next door unless you need something -in which case I am right there to help.
The Cottage at Dunne Dreamin sits on a hill overlooking the Village of Hardwick with no neighbors in sight! It is about a mile walk to the center of town where you can get a great breakfast at either the local diner, the bakery or the food coop. Lunch and dinner options include two pizza restaurants, the Village Diner, and the Scale House - a wonderful new restaurant with a great vibe and terrific food. . Set out to Stowe (40 minutes), Morrisville (20 minutes), Montpelier (40 minutes) or St. Johnsbury (35 minutes) to find other great food and entertainment options.
  • Seriously the perfect place to unwind and get away. Now that we’ve seen this gorgeous place in the snow, time to come back for the other seasons! Our pup was in heaven exploring the grounds and Amy was incredibly hospitable!

    Dina2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what we were looking for. Good space for 3, could have added a 4th person with no problem. We opted to bring our meals. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook what we brought. The fireplace was awesome, living room was very comfortable. The property is nicely sited on a hill in an orchard with a beautiful view and close to downtown Hardwick. Amy left a homemade cookie and cider on the table for when we arrived and brought over some maple syrup on snow for a local sweet treat the following afternoon. We were very happy that she visited with us for a while. We all agreed that this is a perfect place to go back in any season and enjoy some time away. Thank you Amy!

    Susan2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin with lots of local treasures. Would def come and stay again.

    Kayla2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect and private get away. Cozy fireplace, thoughtfully stocked kitchen and comfy bed. Pet friendly, as my grand pup visited and loved it! Lovely hillside porch, with a view. Can't wait to visit in the spring sometime, when the apple orchard is in bloom! Thanks again Amy, for sharing your wonderful piece of Vermont serenity.

    Connie2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful weekend at Dunne Dreaming. Amy gave us a fresh baked cookie & apple cider upon arrival which was just what we needed after our drive up. She let us borrow snowshoes and poles for our adventure, and couldn’t have been more hospitable. The fireplace was the perfect touch after a long day in the cold, too. We hope to come back again and just love the Hardwick area. Amy was full of recommendations for food, adventures, etc., and was very good at communicating with us before and during our stay. My dog had a wonderful time, too! Amy had a dog bed ready and waiting for her, and there was plenty of fresh snow in the backyard to romp around for miles! We hope to be back in either the winter or summer months in the future!

    Brittany2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A charming and cozy spot with great access to wooded trails and nice views. You will have everything you need and you will be comfortable. Hardwick is a nice little town with great food and beer nearby. Enjoy!

  • My 2 teenagers and I had such a wonderful stay at Amy's cottage. Super cozy, comfortable and just what we needed for a winter ski weekend. Thank you!

Our rustic cabin is tucked away in the woods, yet conveniently close to life outside the forest. Here you will find many chances to love what Vermont has to offer. Conveniently 4 miles to Hardwick, we are right between Central VT and the North East Kingdom (NEK)!
Our cabin can accommodate a family of 4-6 easily. It is a great get away location for any family or couple wanting to spend some relaxing time in the country. It is located directly on a four seasons trail that can be used for hiking, walking, biking, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, horseback riding, etc. We also have many lakes and ponds nearby that you can drive to, to enjoy a day on the water with your kayaks, fishing boats, floating rafts, or just for a nice and refreshing dip in the fresh water (there is no public beach in Woodbury, but Caspian Lake in Greensboro is 20 minutes away). The kitchen is complete with pots and pans, dish wear, silverware, dish soap, paper towels, dish towels, hand soap, salt, pepper, and coffee pot. There are sometimes condiments and other food items that are left behind. I toss anything left behind that is not perfectly fine. The bathroom is completely furnished as well with bath and hand towels, wash clothes, hand soap and toilet paper. There are sometimes shampoos and/or conditioners under the sink. The beds are made with clean fresh sheets and comforters, and we ask that you to bring your own additional blankets or sleeping bags. Our gas fireplace offers cozy warmth after a beautiful day spent out and about enjoying our scenic state as a family, a couple, or a group of friends. We also have a Rinnai heater in our entryway to keep our cabin cozy during the chilly months. The floors in the fall and winter do tend to stay chilly, so pack your slippers. :) PLEASE do not run our heat disrespectfully. Please do not run out heater or fireplace when windows are open. Our cabin has been enjoyed by every one of our guests as a comfortable and relaxing get away. Feel free to ask questions or make a special request.
Our cabin is located directly on a 4 seasons trail and there is lots to see on an evening walk or jog. Check out the many nearby abandoned quarry holes! Ask for a map! We have had many couples and many families (and even a few groups of friends) come and stay at our cabin, and sharing our little piece of "Heaven on Earth" has been exactly as rewarding as we had hoped! We are not near any big cities or major attractions. We are very rural. Please do not rate us as less than 5 stars for our location if you booked to stay at our cabin because you are looking for the city life! This is country! Thank you! :)
  • This place is the absolute CUTEST. It’s so cozy, and I have to say the master bedroom bed is like very very comfy haha. This was exactly the right place to go for the type of cozy getaway feeling we were looking for, and Cassie and Eric are by far the most responsive and kind hosts I’ve ever dealt with. Would come back in a heart beat!

    Izzy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome awesome place. My fiancé and I have been looking and stayed at a few places that we wanted right on the vast trail. This by far was our best trip. The hosts Cassie and Eric were wonderful. The place was clean, cozy and plenty of room for our vehicle and trailer. The fresh eggs were a bonus. We hit the jackpot with this spot and plan on going back.

    Penny2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best service I have received in years period, not just on air bnb. Extremely kind, caring people. Beautiful cozy cabin in a breath taking setting. The first night I got lost and ended up stuck in the snow down the street I didn’t want to tell them and wake them up because it was already much later than I was supposed to arrived they saw our tail lights got out up bed and pulled us out. They follow up the next day to make sure we were warm enough and let us know if we need anything to let them know. This place is amazing and the hosts are even more amazing.

    Zachary2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location if you want to get away!

    Andrew2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin was absolutely adorable and had everything and more that we needed for our weekend away. It was super clean, Cassie responded immediately to all our communication. I will definitely hope to return in the future!

    Leslie2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Cassie and Eric were excellent hosts with a wonderful little cabin. A group of friends and I went up to Vermont for the weekend and stayed at the Hidden Arrow R&R and really enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking to get away in a cozy little cabin!

    Marcus2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice cabin. Can sleep a decent amount of people. Plenty of blankets, towels and kitchen items. We had a great time and would like to come back again

    Kush2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was amazing!!! The bed was so comfortable and it was very cozy! The ambiance was perfect, the fire was awesome! We had a great time. The kitchen was stocked nicely with pots and pans. We cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner! Our son loves the upstairs and slept well because it was a separate space. The property was lovely, we took a quick walk only because it was so cold! Lots of blankets, pillows and we had quick response time whenever there was any questions. I highly recommend and hopefully we will be back!

Beautifully restored apartment with hardwood floors, high ceilings, mid-century modern decor, and large bay windows with views to the Lamoille River.

Large bay windows offer lovely views of the Lamoille River. The apartment is only a few steps from several popular restaurants. A gym is located a block away. A food co-op and grocery store are within easy walking distance. The Hardwick Trails, six miles of woodland hiking, are less than half a mile away. World-reknowned brewery, Hill Farmstead Beer, is in nearby Greensboro. Caledonia Spirits distillery, with its tasting room including its top-shelf gin, is just down the road. Local swimmable lakes include Caspian Lake, Wolcott Pond and Green River Reservoir (also with non-motorized boat access). The rental is within easy driving distance of local ski resorts and near to Stowe, Greensboro, Smugglers Notch, and Montreal. It is also located near longer hiking trails, including the Appalachian and Long trails, mountain biking trails, canoeing and kayaking, cross-country skiing, and lots of good antiquing. Small food producers, such as the Cellars at Jasper Hill cheeses, Vermont Soy products, Pete's Greens, High Mowing Seeds, and the Vermont Food Venture Center cluster in and around the town.
  • Claudia has a great place in a charming Vermont town. It is as beautiful as the photos. There is a great pizza place downstairs with good food and a great atmosphere. There is a also an awesome coffee shop / bakery downstairs which is fabulous and a grocery co-op next door.

  • This little gem was perfect! Claudia is super kind and helpful. She gave us plenty of tips and brought snow shoes and games for my kids. The apartment itself was darling! The aesthetics of the interior, paired with the incredible views, really set this place apart. The kitchen was stocked with spices, oils, cookware and coffee. The town was darling! A bar and pizza place were right beneath us, and the Village cafe was right across the street. We really enjoyed strolling around the quaint little town, crossing the bridge and chatting with the friendly locals. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to return!

  • A lovely spot. We enjoyed being able to go downstairs for supper, or just down the street to the coop for groceries. Some noise from Positive Pie downstairs, but it never went late (and we went to bed by 10, at that). I loved being able to watch the town wake up in the mornings as well as the convenience of Craftsbury and highland lodge to go skiing in the afternoons.

  • Very nice apartment, close to restaurants and shopping. Perfect getaway.

    Patricia2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Really beautiful apartment in a great location to explore northern Vermont. Claudia also helped us with travel back from hill farmstead; which we appreciated. Thoroughly recommended

  • We had a very comfortable stay in Claudia's place. The location is fabulous too! Places to eat or shop are literally steps away.

  • Charming house. Tons of space, very convenient to town & restaurants. Location less than an hour from resorts we were visiting. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking. Would definitely stay again.

  • Elizabeth was a great host, very responsive. The home is located walking distance to town. It is equipped with great amenities, specially in the kitchen. Only suggestion I could give is maybe heaters in the bedrooms that didn’t have vents. It was super cold on Friday!

    Sandra2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, spacious, and clearly well thought out for hosting large groups. The biggest plus for me was the kitchen - it had numerous pots, pans, and utensils that made preparing big meals easy.

    Steven2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful house and perfect for a big group. We were all comfortable, loved the full kitchen, and enjoyed relaxing in the living room after skiing all day. It was also great to be able to walk right into town to go out for pizza. Thank you so much!

  • This is a great country home in a charming VT town. The home is clean and offers great space. Beds are comfortable and the home is very well stocked. The coffee and tea bar was an nice bonus. Elizabeth is a great host, easy to communicate with and everything was spot on. We truly enjoyed the home and the area.

  • A really nice spot with excellent hospitality! Thanks Melissa!

    Caroline2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful space! Melissa and Michael are so kind and welcoming it made our trip excellent!

    Taramay2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The stay was great! Melissa and her family were always available to help out and were very friendly. Great place to stay!

    Raudo2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa's home is absolutely beautiful and will exceed your "New England in the Fall" expectations. Melissa was very easy to communicate with - both before and during our stay. Our room was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. We did not get to experience many of the amenities due to our schedule - but the living areas and the hot tub looked great. If you're planning a short visit to the area and need a base of operations, this is it. Quick walk to the local coffee shop and restaurant. We'd definitely stay again!

    Kaitlin2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa’s place is great old house with lots of character. She was a great host and I would come back.

    Clint2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa’s house is amazing. Not only is it huge, but it’s very unspoiled, with gleaming wooden details. Melissa’s a generous host; guests are given wide access to much of the house, including a hot tub, a whirlpool tub, and a comfortable living room, as well as a lovely balcony—and I’m sure I’m leaving out the kitchen and more. Melissa responded very quickly to my inquiry, which was great, as it was about to turn dark and my sister and I hadn’t found a place to stay. The town is a short walk away, and it’s as charming a place as you could dream up. Melissa’s house was super quiet and a very welcome and peaceful refuge.

  • Melissa and Michael were so warm and gracious...and engaging. Their gorgeous home reflects the pride they have in their space and I was so grateful to have been able to stay there. I had run a race the day I checked in and was excited about using the hot tub right on their charming front porch in their very safe neighborhood! Melissa had that ready for me and I was completely appreciative of them and their lovely, lovely space...even let me bond with their very cute dog, Pebbles. You won't be disappointed here...a stunning space with the perfect host and hostess...thank you again Melissa and Michael.!!

    Lennie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa was a great host! She replied quickly to my messages. My only regret is that I didn't have any time to enjoy her home. Great sitting rooms, big kitchen and a couple of dining areas. Lots of outdoor space. Big yard. Couple of great front porches. No one else was staying so I had a bathroom to myself, which was nice. Great location. You can walk downtown. near a really sweet library. Very safe street and area. Thanks Melissa for our chats.

42 steps to paradise! Rustic cabin built in 1935 with 60 feet of private lakefront is home base for a relaxing, nature-filled, unplugged, lakefront experience. The quirky two bedroom cabin is decorated with love & the basics. Whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, swimming, nature walks, crackling fires, brilliant stars, reading, visiting, a hot cup of tea, a cold glass of wine, creating a meal... whatever type of get-away you are looking for, it is here. 14 miles from Hill Farmstead Brewery!
Please note: You have to walk down a path that includes 42 steps from the parking area/portable toilet, to the cabin. (Your FitBit will be happy) The cabin is right on the lake. There is no running water but for a shower, you can just jump in the lake! :-) This venue offers three kayaks, fire ring (firewood available locally), charcoal grill, glider swing, lawn chairs and a picnic table. Great fishing right from the cabin or out of one of the kayaks provided; public access boat launch nearby on Rt 14. Miles of rural Vermont dirt roads for biking, walking, hiking, etc. In addition to the 2 bedrooms, the main door opens into one larger room with sofa, dining table, mini frig, microwave and electric tea kettle. The cabin was built in 1935, so you are going back in time... :-) This place is ideal for 2-3 adults who love to camp and rough it. It is not suitable for small children or people with mobility issues. No heating source provided or allowed in the cabin. No cell service, no TV, no internet. Landline provided for emergency calls. LGBTQ friendly. No running/drinking water or septic on site. Renter provides all drinking water during rental period. Portable toilet is a minute’s walk up the hill to the parking area. One might call this glorified "camping" because you've got the beauty of nature but the convenience of a roof over your head, electricity (frig, micro, a/c, tea kettle, lights, outlets), etc., but the ability to be right on the water and enjoy all the benefits of being in nature, relaxation, listening to the birds, having a campfire, etc. Renters must bring their own: bottled water, firewood, all linens including sheets (or sleeping bags), towels, etc. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out location, including all trash, recycling, bottles/can, etc. No pets.
The beauty of this place is to relax and commune with nature and enjoy the lake. Hardwick is 10 minutes away with the standard pizza place and a diner; Montpelier is 30 minutes away, Vermont's capital, with dynamic restaurants, movie theatres (traditional and independently owned), sites to see and shops.
  • If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is the location you want to stay at. If you’re looking for luxury look elsewhere. More of a glamping experience. Which is what makes this space so special Patricia was right on with all her information concerning your stay. Would definitely stay here in the future

    Susan2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin sits right on the lake! We spent many hours just sitting by the lake sipping tea with books in our hands and enjoying the shifting light on the water surface and trees on the other side of the lake. After dark, stars studded the sky like you do not see in cities. In short, it is a perfect place for relaxation. Our only regret is that we did not stay longer then two nights. The cabin is simple without running water, and the toilet is a short walk up to where you park the car. The cabin has electricity, with fridge and a hot water kettle. Drinking water can be collected at a local well just a short drive (1.5 miles) from the cabin. You need to bring your own bed covers and pillows, but there are also some blankets (one electric) provided in the cabin. Our first night was really cold, so I added a blanket to my own. There are kayaks and life vests to borrow for people who want to go out on the lake, which we did several times. There is both a fire pit and a grill with tools and some wood to use, or you just bring your own. Patricia gives you a very extensive list of suggested items to bring, which was very helpful. The cabin was actually bigger than we had expected, and can easily accommodate three persons, with a roomy living room as well. It is a great place, great value, and the check in/out process is smooth as can be! Highly recommended to people who are looking for a simpler life for a few days!

    Tobias2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Patricia's cabin. She was very responsive and gave us a lot of tips about what to do in the area. The cabin is rustic but has many amenities (firepit, kayaks, board games) to enjoy the place. We would definitely recommend this place!

    Lisa2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and great location, and by the way in case you have xfinity account, there is a WiFi signal.

  • This place is great. It was a nice size cabin right on the lake. It is truly one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. We enjoyed it so much. There were many nice things about the cabin. Extra blankets, bug spray, dishes, anything you might have forgotten. Patricia was so thoughtful. The kayaks were a great bonus. We did an amazing early morning kayak. The fire pit, bbq. Everything was ready and easy to use. It was a great stay!!

  • We had a wonderful time at the house, the location is perfect, we enjoyed kayaking, I highly recommend it

    Douaa2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely spot to spend a night at. Here are a few tips that might be helpful: - You will need slip-resistant shoes to run up and down the hill. I was glad I brought my hikers. - Bring extra towels to wipe the outdoor furniture with in case of rain. - I kind of wished I had brought a more comfortable chair for star gazing although there is no shortage of standard outdoor furniture. - You will see and hear neighbors, boaters, cars passing by - and yet it will still feel private and peaceful. - Surprisingly, we did not need bug spray at all. - The hummingbird feeders were a nice touch. I had never seen so many hummingbirds in one spot.

She has added many touches to make it feel homey- coffee, tea, milk and other kitchen supplies. There was a lot of info. available about the local area. Parking was easy and the location beautiful. Enjoy a Swedish style boathouse on the pristine shores of Caspian Lake! This rustic cabin sleeps 6 in a cozy sleeping loft and one bunk room. We offer a full kitchen with usual amenities. Many guests enjoy the traditional cedar sauna, followed by a cool lake plunge. A beautiful porch directly overlooks one of the sandiest beaches on the lake, which is perfect for watching your children play in the sand or wading slowly into the lake. The Greensboro village is a 5 minute walk away. Pets welcome!
  • We just loved this sweet, rustic spot on beautiful Caspian Lake! The Swedish touches were colorful, charming and welcoming! Jordan was great about letting us know important details about our stay and it was hassle free to be there. We loved the feeling of staying right on the water. The lake is peaceful and the neighbors were thoughtful and respected each another’s privacy.

  • We loved out stay at the Swedish Boathouse on Caspian Lake! The boathouse is rustic, clean, fun and relaxing, and it is smack dab on the water. The water was perfect for swimming and kayaking and canoeing. Jordan was a perfect host, answering our questions quickly. We most surely want to return- but for a longer amount of time!

    Elizabeth H.2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Boathouse is a wonderful retreat from the world, in one of America's most beautiful areas. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the loons, as well as swimming, kayaking and enjoying "downtown" Greensboro. A delightful stay! Thank you, Jordan.

    Mary Pat2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jordan was so helpful and responsive. Everything was in great shape for our arrival and we had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The lake access was amazing. The boathouse is such a comfortable and unique place to stay.

  • Another beautiful summer on Lake Caspian! Between checking out Hill Farmstead Brewery, hiking at Barr Hill Nature Preserve, having dinner and checking out a show at Parker Pie co, buying groceries and goods at Willys, we had an amazing time on the lake. We took out the kayaks every day, warmed up in the sauna, had our coffee on the deck overlooking the beautiful lake, and slept like babies in the comfortable bed and cozy loft. Already dreaming about our next stay!

  • This was the perfect place to stay for a week of cross country skiing in the Northeast Kingdom. Amy is a very attentive and kind host who is very easy to communicate with. The location is amazing, quiet and beautiful. And the studio space is very pleasant and has everything you need. The kitchen is quite nice, the shower is great, and the bed comfortable. All in all a lovely place to stay. The skiing at Craftsbury Nordic and at Stowe and a Trapp Family Lodge was amazing with great snow and great grooming. This apartment is situated in the perfect place to access all these different areas with easy drives. And it was a wonderful place to come back to in the evening to relax. There’s even a wonderful food co-op just a mile or two from the house which has everything one would need in the way of groceries. I’ll definitely be back next winter to ski in the area, and would certainly think about using it as a base for some great day hikes in the Green Mountains.

    Steven2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amy's place was perfect for a girls' weekend ski race getaway! It's in a super location for quick access to both Hardwick and Craftsbury Outdoor Center, and Amy had provided all kinds of thoughtful touches to make our stay cozy and nice. Everything was clean and anything you could imagine needing was provided--couldn't have asked for a better stay, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable and sweet place to stay in the Northeast Kingdom. Thanks again, Amy!

Beautifully restored apartment in an historic building. The apartment is bright, airy, cozy, private, and quiet with easy access to all northern Vermont has to offer. All amenities provided, including a full kitchen, two private bedrooms, and a living/dining area.
Fully equipped and furnished two-bedroom apartment in the quaint village of Hardwick, Vermont. The rental apartment is in a newly renovated 1895 historic building and has a full kitchen and dining/living area along with two bedrooms. The living room windows offer a lovely view into the public park we recently designed and landscaped. Internet is a little spotty in the apartment, but reliable service is available in the restaurant on the first floor of the building. The apartment is close to several popular restaurants, a gym, an organic food co-op, and a grocery store. The Hardwick Trails, 6 miles of woodland hiking, are less than half a mile away. World-renowned brewery, Hill Farmstead Beer, is in nearby Greensboro and Caledonia Spirits distillery with its tasting room, including its top-shelf gin, is just down the road. Local swimming and canoeing/kayaking water bodies include Caspian Lake, Wolcott Pond and Green River Reservoir. The rental is within easy driving distance of ski resorts and close to Stowe, Greensboro, Smugglers Notch, and Montreal. It is also located near longer hiking trails, including the Appalachian and Long trails, mountain biking trails, canoeing and kayaking, cross-country skiing, and lots of good antiquing. The Village of Hardwick has become known as a sustainable food center, and was featured in the book, "The Town that Food Saved," by Ben Hewitt. Small food producers, such as the Cellars at Jasper Hill cheeses, Vermont Soy products, Pete's Greens, High Mowing Seeds, and the Vermont Food Venture Center cluster in and around the town.

  • Claudia’s place is a restful and beautifully decorated apartment in Hardwick. We loved the open kitchen and amenities, the comfortable beds, and the modern washer and dryer conveniently located inside the apartment. Check in was smooth and easy (self-check in using a lockbox), and Claudia reached out ahead of time to make sure that we were situated. The location was so perfect for a Vermont winter getaway - close to coffee shops, local bookstore, restaurants as well as only a 20-30 minute drive to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. We would wholeheartedly 100% stay at Claudia’s place again.

  • Claudia is a great host and her home is stylish, cozy, and comfortable. The location is fantastic with close access to winter activities - nordic skiing trails in town and at Craftsbury Outdoor Center to make just a few. There is a fabulous coffee shop next door with excellent baked-in-house goods and a tasty pizza restaurant below the apartment. This was the perfect place to stay for our family of 3 on a weekend getaway. We would happily stay here again!

    Tony2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for those wanting to be close to skiing. Very cozy place and Claudia went out of her way to make our stay smooth. Thanks

  • Always a great stay when hosted by Claudia! Super clean and great location.

    Taylor2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great space right in town. Was able to connect with the Bluetooth speaker and WiFi with no issues. Fully stocked kitchen was great for cooking meals. Easy off street parking. Very clean and bright space. Would stay again and recommend to others

    Thomas2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Claudia's place was a very stylish 2 bedroom unit in a renovated three-story-brick building. Parking was easy. The place was very clean and had everything you needed for your stay. The town is small and cute. The pizza place on the first floor of the building is excellent. Good food and craft beers. We skied at Stowe and the ride was about 45 minutes and scenic. We would definitely stay there again.

    Thomas2018-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful trip. Claudia was very responsive and her place was beautiful and as described. Right in the middle of town which was very handy.

UPDATE 8/5: SlTE CLOSED UNTIL BUILDING FINISHED. WILL OPEN CALENDAR BACK UP WHEN FINISHED. THE STRUCTURE- Unavailable for construction for new Airbnb. We are starting this transition in June. You'll love staying on our property because you'll have full access to the 7 acres. We live the next town over. Less then 10 minutes away. Complete privacy from any neighbor. Our property has the VAST trail directly attached. During the Summer/Spring/Fall seasons you can walk to the trail.
The area is in the country but a located close to small towns for needs. Cabot is 5 minutes away, Danville is 10 away and Hardwick is 15 minutes away. You can't see the neighbors. But if loud enough they may here you or vice versa. We had many family get togethers when my dad lived across the street with fire works for 4th of July with no complaints. I want guest to have fun but please no fights or yelling. Should the neighbors complain we may not be able to continue the camping fun.
  • I had an awesome time staying on Jessica’s property. It was in a beautiful location perfect for my mountain biking trip. She was incredibly helpful and accommodating while still giving me plenty of privacy. Can’t wait to come back!

    Jameson2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The property is wonderful, secluded and quiet, and they have provided wonderful accommodations for a camp spot. Our pup loves being able to run around and as our second stay here we had some friends join us with their dog as well. The night sky is clear and gorgeous, and we were close enough to town to take a half day trip in to explore. We highly recommend their property.

    Mikaila2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding stay! I was totally expecting just a plot of grass begat I could set up a tent on, but Jessica and her family blew me away! The were super helpful when suggesting good local breakfast places with real Vermont maple syrup too! 10/10 would come back if I’m in Vermont again!

    Noah2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing spot! The property is beautiful and secluded. We had a great time and for a camp site there were more amenities than we ever would have expected or needed. They communicated with us quickly and stopped by when we arrived to say hi and make sure we had everything we needed. We didn't leave the site but they had a book with some area places to eat and see. Definitely recommend staying here, we will be for sure.

The cabin and has a wonderful porch with rocking chairs. Enjoy beautiful sunsets from your rocking chair. There is a large, well equipped kitchen, open space floor plan, new shower unit and plenty of closet space in the bedroom. Easy access to VAST snowmobile trails, within an hour's drive to 3 ski areas (Stowe, Smuggler's Notch and Jay Peak), X-Country skiing right outside the door or in Craftsbury or Stowe. Elmore State Park is 3 miles away. The cabin is quiet, private and unconnected.
The cabin is the perfect get-a-way. Limited cell phone service, no internet.
The Elmore General Store, 3 miles away, has amazing Pizza. In the summer you can swim, paddle and hike to the fire tower on Elmore Mountain at the State Park. Hiking, biking and skiing can be done on the Lamoille Valley Rail trail. Several golf courses are located nearby.
  • We loved staying at the Piggy Palace! It's such a cozy little cabin with a beautiful view. The check-in and check-out instructions were super easy, and Peggy was so friendly. We'd love to stay here again and definitely recommend it!

  • Our stay at Meadow Woods Cabin was the perfect winter retreat. Quiet and cozy with all the amenities and charm placed in a beautiful part of Vermont. We were able to ski right out our back door and surrounding ski areas. The cabin was spacious and spotless with lovely sunsets from off the front porch. Our hosts were super friendly and always willing to help with suggestions of places to see or eat. I look forward to going back again.

    Kate2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful and cozy cabin! We stayed here on our ski vacation instead of staying closer to Stowe and we are glad we did. This cabin was cute and charming. Peggy and Steve went out of their way to help us get two-for-one ski ticket and helped us when our little car got stuck on ice. The area is so cute and much quieter than Stowe but still has cute restaurants and breweries nearby. Definitely recommend!

    Kristin2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at this cabin! Warm, cozy and with great views. Surrounded by snow covered woods, it was like a winter fairytale! Close to xcountry skiing trails. Peggy is a very friendly host. We would love to come back sometime!

Come escape from the daily grind at our idyllic lakeside glamping cabin. A charming oasis in the heart of the Green Mountains, this cabin offers comfort and convenience in an off-the-grid setting. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway, writer's retreat, meditation escape, or just a chance to unwind , take a swim or go for a paddle.
Our comfortable cabin sits on a terraced hillside overlooking beautiful Greenwood Lake and the Woodbury Mountains. It has a ceiling fan and heater to keep you comfy along with a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker. However, there is no WiFi and cell service is sketchy which makes it a great spot for digital detox. We can provide you with a TV with DVD player if you wish. The spotless outhouse sports a state of the art incinerating toilet, a heater, a wash up sink with a drain, and a reading light. On the manicured grounds you'll find the upper patio with treetop views and a firepit. Next to the cabin is a picnic patio area with tables, chairs, and a park grill. Walk down the shaded path to our dock and kayak launch to take a swim or just relax, enjoy the view and look for loons. Bring your own paddle craft or rent a kayak for a small fee. Sorry, no motor craft permitted. While it does have many comforts and conveniences, be aware that this is still a glamping venue and there is no running water. We do supply water for drinking, washing, and even provide a solar shower.
In addition to enjoying peaceful Greenwood Lake, you are just a short drive from local attractions, such as Highland Center for The Arts, Jasper Hill Cheese Cellars, the charming capital city of Montpelier, Ben & Jerry's, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Stowe, Jay Peak, and Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local rail trails to name a few. The town of Hardwick, 4 miles away, boasts popular restaurants featuring locally grown fare.
  • Love the cabin! Great spot right above the lake. Nice to have a fire and enjoy the serene setting. Thanks Gary

    Arthur2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Space is pretty small great for a couple or two friends to stay the lake is a two second walk down the hill which is amazing and the fire pit is up a couple stairs. The charcoal grill and patio table is perfect for relaxing, cracking some brews, and just taking in the amazing scenery.

  • You will not regret this stay at Gary’s cabin. It was the perfect stay in the perfect location. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

  • Very tidy and lovely little house equipped with everything you need. A good bed and nice toilet located outside. It is an incinerating toilet and it works great. No running water but lots of jugs of water to drink, make dishes etc. Lucinda and Gary are great hosts, very nice and want to share about the area. The cabin is located by a wonderful lake. We had a great stay!

Rochester House is near restaurants, trails, family-friendly activities, and lake beaches. It's convenient to many destinations, including, Hill Farmstead, Caspian Lake (beach) and Craftsbury. A short walk to the Farmer's Market, grocery stores, and most village restaurants. Downtown is .7 miles, 15 min walk. This may be too far in winter. There is a city plowed sidewalk all the way during snow season if needed. House of Pizza is only 2 blocks. We are in the village, please respect neighbors
The house is currently a mixture of old and new. There are four bedrooms and two full baths on the second floor with two stairwells (one on each end). It’s a large house, about 3K sq ft. There was a fifth bedroom on the first floor that we use as a media room. It can still house humans if necessary. One bath upstairs features a clawfoot tub for bathing (not showers).
Hardwick has plenty of Vermont Village charm with amenities to make like easy. There is a grocery and drug store across the street. Three restaurants are walking distance with a full bar and service at Positive Pie (along with a great beer list including Hill Farmstead)
  • The house was gorgeous, and so fun for our group! Great location near Stowe, etc and easy drive to other ski resorts.

Beautiful log home modern and cozy. Very secluded, yet close to many local attractions. Three beds and one fold out couch. Two and 1/2 baths. VAST trail on property. Local ski areas. Hill Farmstead Brewery very close! Many local lakes, ponds and hiking trails. Vermont has five seasons. If you are there in the spring, you may encounter "Mud Season". The house is located on a dirt road. Four-wheel drive is best in mud season! *Please note there is an additional $50 cleaning fee for pets
Two full bedrooms. Basement room has a fold out couch. Top floor has a bed in the loft area. Pellet stove in the basement room. Fireplace on main floor.
House is in the middle of the woods. Neighbors are scarce. Closest neighbor is 1/8 mile away.
  • This house is away from it all for relaxation and privacy. It is exactly what we were looking for and alot to do in the surrounding towns

  • We had a phenomenal experience staying at Brett’s cabin! It’s a beautiful space and perfect location to celebrate our elopement!

    Carrie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Brett and Jessica’s place was spectacular! We took a quick weekend trip to get out of the city with another couple and our dog and this house was the perfect fit. We arrived during a snowstorm and although it was tricky getting in, we were so relieved that the driveway was perfectly plowed upon our arrival. The house was clean, modern and had a warm classic cabin feel. The kitchen was stocked with more than enough equipment to use and perfectly accommodated our group spending time cooking and eating together. Our dog loved the trails surrounding the property and we loved how much there was to explore. This house is truly a place where you feel at home right away and we can’t wait to go back!

  • An excellent house and host

    Craig2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully maintained cabin in the Mountains. Breathtaking view and first class amenities. Granite counters throughout as well as a fully stocked kitchen and woodpile . We enjoyed a fire every night upon return from a number of local Breweries and restaurants. I would highly recommend this home and plan on staying here again .Brett was a gracious host as we stayed 2 extra days from our original booking and the transaction was simple. 5 Stars

    John2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect. Better than the pictures. Amazing space in a beautiful mountain setting. Every thoughtful detail in the house made our birthday weekend with friends amazing. Clean, comfortable and cozy. Quick helpful communication with Brett answered all our questions before we arrived. We will absolutely return. Great Airbnb experience!

    Tanya2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down, our most favorite AirBnB. This cabin is 100% perfect if your goal is peace, and scenic yet still in modern times. We took notes of things we want to do in our “forever home” while staying here. The pictures of this home, honestly do not do it justice. It is absolutely spotless, and completely beautiful! The home is well equipped with all amenities from satellite tv, WiFi, to smart light switches and plugs. There are two bedrooms, with very comfortable queen beds, a double in the loft, and couches galore. The two living spaces are on two different floors. One with a pellet stove and one with a wood fireplaces. The bathrooms are large!!!!! The craftsmanship of the home is incredible, the wrap around porch has stunning sunset views. When we stayed there was a lot of snow on the ground and we enjoyed sledding and snowshoeing, and our dogs loved having the space to roam and play. It’s about 50 min to Stowe, skiing was the purpose of our trip. However, we wanted to have space and peaceful lodging. We didn’t want to take a bus to Stowe Resort or walk to restaurants. The drive to Stowe does not feel like 50 min, it goes by quite quickly and it’s an easy drive even with snow. Brett’s communication is prompt and on point. There were even Holiday touches for our stay!!!! Thank you for helping us to give our kids a Christmas feel while away from home. This touch, really was the icing on the cake for them, and us! Thank you so very much for having a fabulous cabin in VT!! We would absolutely go back to this cabin.

    Crystal2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is the place to getaway and relax! The scenery surrounding the home is absolutely gorgeous and the hime gives a comfortable vibe while also allowing you to see all of the great views of the surrounding area from inside the beautiful cabin. The fireplace room was great for our two 1 year olds to play while we relaxed by the fire. The town of Hardwick was about 5 minutes away and had fantastic food and drinks even though the area is not a metro area. Hill Farmstead Brewery was a short drive as well and was the focus for our trip to begin with but this home is what made the trip worth it. It is cozy and has everything you would ever need for a weekend away with your family.

This plantation style home sits high on a knoll overlooking acres of hay fields and grazing cows. Stay in a new, fully renovated suite featuring a king sized bed, an attached 3 bed bunk room, pine floors, kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, sink, Keurig), a private balcony, and sweeping views of the fields. This suite comfortably holds 5 people. We can add a third bedroom (shown in photos as BR#2) , the adjacent queen bedroom suite (with private bath), for groups of 6 or more paying adults.
  • We had a lovely stay at the Porter Brook Farm guest suite. Everything is newly renovated, with wide plank pine floors and sparkling clean new bathrooms. The king room has a balcony with sliding glass doors, and amazing views of the rolling hills beyond the fields and long driveway lined with maples. There's a table (can be extended with leaves) that we used for our morning breakfast and for playing games at night, as well as a small desk. Our kids loved the bunk room with its built-in beds, secret storage areas, and reading lights. The owner, Sven, is super responsive and accommodating, and a pleasure to chat with when we met in person.

    Rebecca2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • My experience was amazing. The place is extremely cozy and cute. The owners have goats, chickens, and ducks that are just adorable. My friends and I did a weekend of skiing and it was nice coming back home to a warm place and shower. On top of all of this, the hosts of the house also own a seafood restaurant called "Scales" which is about 1-2 miles away from the house in the center of Hardwick. The food and experience there was also amazing. In addition, the hosts were extremely nice and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Overall we had the best time.

  • Very comfortable king size bed, an amazingly beautiful view of the spacious property, and a great kids bedroom with 3 built in bunk beds. My kids and I didn’t want to leave. It’s a gorgeous area with friendly hosts who point you in the right direction for where to go.

  • What a wonderful experience we had recently at Porter Brook Farm. Our host Sven and his family made us feel right at home. The room was very welcoming and the scenery was magnificent. Sven even recommended a wonderful restaurant in town that offered great food and also catered to families. We can't wait to come back in summer to rediscover the beauty of this house and to see our wonderful hosts again.

    Kathleen2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is very interesting house, beautiful drive-in with rows of maple trees greeting you. Inside is clean and functional. No common area but Sven was nice to offer us the use of his dining and living area. Sven is also very responsive and willing to help in any way. It’s close to both Hardwick and Morrisville both which have great restaurants, trails for hiking, and lots of other great activities. • Had an amazing few days at Mike’s place! The views from the front porch are spectacular, and the cabin is so cozy. It has everything you could need - including comfy hotel robes! Loved having coffee in the morning on the front porch. This place has fantastic views and was the perfect New England getaway that was both rustic and fairly close to “town” stuff. Just a short trip to major mountains, we’d definitely come back for some ski time. Would absolutely stay again! Thanks again, Mike!

My comfortable one bedroom apt (king bed and sofa bed) tucked away inside this restored historic barn is a perfect spot for a cozy rural get away. Moments away from world class food and drinks, this beautiful rural surrounding is a wonderland for many activities.
The historic Greensboro Barn at Turning Stone Farm was built in 1880. I have been in love with this barn my whole life. Over twenty five years ago I decided to make it into my home, where I raised my family and have my studio and gallery. Located in the heart of Greensboro, the barn is just a half-mile from Caspian Lake and the village and a few miles to Hill Farmstead Brewery. There is wifi, though because of this rural area it's not always reliable for streaming. The space has it's own entrance with finished wood floors, deep set windows and unique live-edge, raw wood trim throughout. There is one large bedroom, (king bed) and a kitchenette, dining, and living space (with a full/futon couch) and a full bathroom. The space is well insulated and heated with a beautiful, gas (wood style) stove. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, electric hot plate, toaster oven, coffee maker, electric tea kettle and crock pot. Willey's Store, a well known old fashion general store, sells groceries, Jasper Cellars cheese, Hill Farmstead beer, gasoline and marks the center of Greensboro Village and is less than a mile away. Hardwick, the center of the locavore movement is just 6 miles away with restaurants that serve farm to table fare. Near by is the Craftsbury Outdoor Center with summer rowing and biking, in winter x-c skiing, skating and good food (rentals available). The barn is an inspiring agricultural cathedral, which has been lovingly restored over a 25 year period, and is surrounded with gardens and fruit trees. There are wonderful places nearby to walk, run, ski, hike or bike; and just down my road you can play golf on a beautiful 9 hole golf course or tennis on one of the 7 red clay courts. The pristine Caspian Lake, is the heart of the area and features great swimming, boating and (ice) fishing. It's not every day that one gets to stay in a barn and experience a beautiful piece of paradise.
My neighborhood is an outdoor paradise. It is safe, quiet and beautiful any time of year, day or night.
  • So much ambiance and charm! The perfect Vermont get-away. We loved it!

    Jennifer2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer was a great host and she has a wonderful space in Greensboro.

    Philip2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s place is great! An amazing barn restoration with an apartment inside is a very unique experience. The apartment is very comfortable and Jeniffer’s artistic touch is evident throughout the barn. The apartment is loaded with local reading material and some of Jeniffer’s stylish coffee mugs that she made almost 20 years ago. The location is nice with Hill Farmstead brewery close by for world class craft beer. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center and Highland Lodge are nearby for over 100k of stellar cross country skiing. We stayed in January and were very comfortable. The barn must be an amazing summer experience. Very quiet and restful.

    Don2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Jennifer’s beautiful barn. The property is breathtaking and an easy drive to Hill Farmstead. We hope to come back during a different season to experience all the Northeast Kingdom has to offer.

    James2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Simply the most lovely and beautiful accommodations anyone could imagine - so much more than what you would expect from renting an extra room in someone’s home. A private, tasteful suite that I wanted to rent for weeks, instead of the two nights we had booked. You will be overwhelmed!

    Paul2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer's place is a great place to stay for your Greensboro/Hardwick vacation. It is centrally located to Hardwick and Hill Farmstead Brewery. We also spent some time on the Barr Hill nature trail. The barn apartment is a unique experience with beautiful surroundings. WiFi and cell signal is sparse, so just be prepared to unplug and enjoy!

    Erik2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • The space is gorgeous. We had full access to the amazing barn and a view out the back to stunning autumn foliage. The room was cozy and a perfect to return after a day of museum hopping or rail trail biking. We will be back. If you've never seen the Bread and Puppet museum, it is a must, along with the museum of everyday things. Oh, and there's Hill Farmstead and Lost Nation Brewing, right on the rail trail after a nice long ride.

  • Quick response, sparkling clean bedroom and bathroom, a short drive to Stowe Mountain Resort and what a great price! Heather greeted us warmly and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a last minute decision to stay over one more night and there was not a single room in Stowe on President’s Day weekend. Heather saved the day (or night) and we enjoyed another day of skiing, well rested.

  • Excellent place to get away. Privacy in a beautiful little town and a public beach minutes away. Dirt road out in the country with a grass driveway up to the camping spot. Beautiful view of the stars and yet tall trees to block the sun most of the day. I cannot say enough about this location and the owners who are friendly , fast communication and don't require your life history or your first born as a deposit. I'm glad I stumbled upon this property. For those that don't mind not having running water , a toilet or electricity this is a great place to enjoy nature without watching others walk around your "camp". Planning to take a trip down again at the end of the month or early October for one last outing if they'll have us. hopefully it won't rain like it did on our last day today.

  • We went on a bike trip through Vermont, camping every night. Turns out there is not much camping in Karen's area, so this spot is in a great location! We weren't able to actually stay there because we didn't bike enough miles to get there in time, but Karen was VERY responsive and accommodating before and after. I'm sure it would have been great!

  • Karla’s home is wonderful and Robert is very kind and helpful. The sun rises and sunsets behind the mountain line were out of this world; fantastic views from all directions and being surrounded by nature. The kitchen had everything needed for cozy autumn dinners and great books for reading. An absolutely amazing getaway :)

    Julia2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, quiet and cozy. Many personal touches, with anything you could possibly need to relax. I absolutely loved the cabin. Highly recommended!

    Lacy2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Karla have such an amazing little spot here in my favorite state, Vermont. There really are no words for how much we enjoyed our stay. We stayed with our Shiba-Inu Kiko and she absolutely loved every minute of it. The fields out front for her to run doughnuts around and the awesome “dog run” aka a 50ish X 15ish fenced in area alongside the house. And the jacuzzi! I was looking forward to soaking in that for so long because I do not have a bathtub where I rent and it fulfilled my needs 110%!! Looking up at the stars while relaxing in there with my fiancé was probably my favorite part! We are so excited to come back next year! And Robert was the best host I could even imagine and so friendly! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

    Julianne2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place to stay and it has great views from the hot tub of the mountains in the distance. Karla and Robert were incredibly responsive and available for any questions or recommendations for the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family!

  • This is a beautiful space with lots of little extras! The pictures don’t do it justice. The place is spotless, plus the surrounding land is absolutely lovely. I hope to come back for a longer stay.

The town, although small, is vibrant and seemingly upcoming, with a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Situated on the grounds of a former summer camp, this freshly renovated studio style cabin has a full modern kitchen, full bathroom and living space with a tv and a gas fireplace. Scout sleeps up to four, with one double bed and two twins in a fun sleeping loft. The kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to prepare a meal (excluding food!) Scout has a small front porch and is a one minute walk to the lake. Wapanacki is pet-friendly! Please see info about our pet fee in the notes below.
Once the camp director's office, Scout has been reimagined as a cozy modern cabin with retro touches and a combination of new and upcycled materials. The kitchen is spacious and has a gas stove, live wood counter with stools to hang out or eat and is equipped with pots, pans, plates, glasses, mugs, and all the basic cooking utensils. The full bathroom has a stall shower with great water pressure; fresh towels are provided. We provide clean linens and blankets for the one double bed and two twins. A couch and comfy chair are situated by the gas fireplace with tv above. Scout is fully insulated and stays cool in the summer and cozy in the winter. (We've been there when it was -20F!!) Nestled in the hills of the Northeast Kingdom, Camp Wapanacki was founded as a summer camp in 1938. Established as a camp for blind children, and later run by the Girl Scouts, Camp Wapanacki is being reborn as a four-season retreat.
Wapanacki feels remote but is just 10 minutes from all the conveniences in Hardwick including a grocery store, liquor store, pharmacy, local food co-op, woodfire pizza/American fare restaurant, great diner, and gas station. Camp is a great base for experiencing all Vermont has to offer. Stowe, Jay's Peak, and Smugglers Notch are all about an hour away. Hill Farmstead and Lost Nation Breweries are about a 30-minute drive. Barr Hill / Caledonia Spirits distillery is right in Hardwick. There are also multiple hiking, biking, and ATV trails minutes away.

  • Can’t say enough about our experience at Camp Wapanacki! The cabin was comfortable, clean and well-appointed. The grounds were gorgeous and peaceful. We made some wonderful new friends, then had a day all to ourselves! If you are looking for a quiet, unique, comfortable lake getaway, I would recommend this property. Hosts were very nice and easy to communicate with. Will be back again for sure!

  • We have had a very enjoyable stay in a scout cabin. Our kids loved the loft beds and going up and down the ladder. Very clean and well equipped cabin with great decor. The common shared boat house across the road was a great place to hangout on a rainy day as well.

  • What a great cabin! We had a fabulous few days. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. Even during a super cold few days (-15 degrees F.) we were super warm with the fireplace. Cat was super friendly via texts/emails. We found the cabin without any problems. Definitely will be back!

Morrisville also has several places to pick up Heady Topper from the Alchemist Brewery in Waterbury. The local Hardwick restaurant Positive Pie has many of the local beers on tap.
  • Very homey; has the feel of a family home from the 60's with the comforts of the 21st century. Beds are quite comfortable - even for the 6-footer sleeping in the twin-bed room.

  • Cozy place to stay, with thoughtful holiday touches and a well-equipped kitchen. I brought my mother over from her assisted living home, and we made gingerbread cookies for her great-grandchildren's Christmas stockings. Nice to find little things you didn't think you'd need - pliers, marker, even a hole punch - just like visiting your grandmother! Showers work better than you might expect in an older house - hot and strong!

    Janet2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gail's place is warm charming and easy! Found a nice place to walk on the old railroad bed. Also several trips to Willey's Store a few miles up the road just because!!!!

    Ashley2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • BEST HOST! We stayed at Jack's beautiful home surrounded by great mountains views. Very cool retro vibes in the home which was exactly what we were looking for; the get away from city life. Aside from all the hikes and actives we did, one of the highlights of our stay was at Jack's, and seeing so many stars at night. I even saw a shooting star! Jack was very welcoming and gave great suggestions. He was very knowledgeable of VT and a great conversationalist. Highly recommend staying here!

    Stephanie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, very retro in a cool way. Great location near Hardwick and Greensboro in front of a huge beautiful quiet field and the Green Mountains. Great place to unplug for a while.

  • Jack’s place is perfect for a VT getaway. We had a short stay and wished we had planned to stay longer. Jack was great to chat with and gave great recommendations. It’s private yet only a quick 5min drive to the closest restaurants and shops. We had two couples in the place and it was plenty of room for us. We would definitely book Jack’s place again!

On a quiet back road, my unique, magical home offers a perfect home base for exploring the nearby lakes, mountains, ski areas, back roads, art, and local brewery and entertainment. The open kitchen living room surrounded on three sides with large windows is spacious and light. A cedar tree leads you upstairs to two large bedrooms. After a day of exploring, relax in the evenings with a cup of tea or a glass of wine on the front porch, by the cozy wood stove or at the outdoor fire pit.
It is an intimate yet spacious home built with local and green products. You will love the peaceful sense of serenity and healing energy here. A few notes - The driveway is short, but steep; parking is right next to the house. Stone steps with a railing lead the way to a covered entrance. Both bedrooms are upstairs, with the bathroom on the first floor and walk out basement levels.
This convenient location is only 3 miles from Greensboro, Caspian Lake, Willey's Store , and Highland XC ski center, 2 miles from the Highland Arts Center with a sweet cafe, 5 miles to the world famous Hill Farmstead Brewery, 5 miles from Hardwick and multiple restaurants, 15 miles from Craftsbury Sport Center and the famous Bread and Puppet Museum, and 30 miles from Stowe or East Burke ski and single track bike trails.

  • Betsy’s place is the epitome of relaxation and tranquility. From the natural dramatic details in the architecture of the home to the claw foot tub everything helped create an absolute retreat. The gardens are beautiful and the house is stunning. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to any family or friends. Very near Hill Farmstead as well which we thoroughly enjoyed!

  • You know, selfishly I kind of want to keep this place quiet so that I can get it anytime I want - because I'll definitely be back - however, that would be unfair of me. This has been one of my favorite Airbnbs ever, and the others that stayed agree. Now, you have to accept that this is a 'rustic' experience: the Internet is a bit slow, there's not much TV to speak of, the shower takes a bit to warm up and you kind of have to be quick, and the cabin is not 'near' anything in relative terms - but if you're coming to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont for any of these things, then you're kind of doing it wrong. This is the perfect place to disappear off the grid for a weekend and reset your mind. The cabin was larger than I expected and every inch of it had handmade touches of wood that enhanced the experience. The garden was amazing and an excellent place to have a campfire and look at the milky way, and fresh blueberries and raspberries on the grounds were a nice plus. The porch was a great place to look out over the hills and have morning breakfast. The roads around the cabin were great for walking, running & exploring. You are not physically near anything; the cabin is an island in a sea of fields and trees - and that's just what I needed; I can't wait to return.

  • We enjoyed our stay at Betsy's so much. The house is incredible, so beautifully and thoughtfully decorated and clean, with gorgeous views of the garden and countryside. We loved picking raspberries and blueberries, and spending time out on the porch and seeing wildlife. My husband easily did his work remotely while we were there, and my daughter liked exploring the house and garden. We loved it!

  • My friends and I had an amazing stay. Betsy met us at the house and gave us great suggestions for things to in the area. Honestly the pictures really don’t do this place justice. The house and surrounding is absolutely beautiful. I could sip Hill Farmstead beer forever on that balcony. Hope to stay here again. Thanks Betsy.

  • Betsy's place truly was magical as she stated. It was peaceful, comfortable and perfect for a gathering of 4 or more people. We would definitely return to this special spot!

  • We just got back from our stay at Betsy's and we wish we didn't have to leave! The photos don't do the place justice... every detail of the house was thoughtfully designed and built in such an organic way. We immediately felt relaxed after our long journey from Boston. The garden is lovely, and lots of things still yet to bloom. The property is incredibly private and quiet, just what we needed.

It's a hand built place in an antique barn. Wood floors and beams give it warmth and the different levels are fun. It's a place which works with the existing natural environment to diminish the barrier between inside and outside. People come and don't want to leave. Quiet, civilized and clean.
