Step into nature in your own secluded railway carriage in the Australian bush. Let the lagoon rewild your senses ( due to drought the lagoon is currently dry) and chill out in retro style. Off grid, hidden away and a gem of an experience, come take some time out. No hum of the city, just kangaroos hopping past, birds singing and frogs harmonising with each other.
Settle into 100 acres of native bush and sandhills encompassed by an old river meander and surround yourself with rare and endangered flora and fauna. No hunting of native wildlife is allowed on the property. This is a flora and fauna reserve and we want to keep it that way thanks.Bring your camera and get some groovy shots of the wildlife. Possums, wallabies, echidna, various snakes and lots of interesting insects share the property with us. Sometimes we meet. At Christmas the Christmas beetles come around, Easter brings the goat moths, spring the red spotted jezebel, year in and year out insects, spiders, reptiles and mammals come and go. This place really is nature’s home. The Murray river is only 800 metres from our front gate. Great for swimming,fishing and relaxing.
We are a farming community and only 20 min from the historic town of Echuca where the paddlesteamers ply the mighty Murray River. We grow citrus fruit and distill essential oils on our farm. The river is 10 min walk from your carriage and the lagoon surrounds the property. Our region is also known for its great wines and cuisine. Local produce is abundant and there is a farmers market on the 1st 3rd and 5th weekend of the month in Echuca.
  • We loved staying here! Tuesday was a great host even before we arrived. It really felt like she opened up her home and took us in like family. Lots of little touches and both Tuesday and Harry went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The local area is just beautiful, a taste of Australia you rarely get a glimpse of anymore. Would recommend staying here, you’ll be better for it.

  • Fabulous place to experience the nature and country lifestyle! The carriage is well furnished with everything required to stay comfortably. Tuesday and Harry are super friendly and attentive. The code red fire danger alert was announced in the region on one of the day during my stay. They were there to look after me and help me to evacuate to a safe place. Thank you very much! I felt so refresh and energised after the visit. Definitely worth a bit of travelling time to get to here!

  • My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the Bushland Retreat with our two kids (2.5yrs and 6months) and our golden retriever. Trish was an amazing host, easy to contact and very friendly! The apartment was beautiful and porta cot and high chair were provided. There was a cute little kids play area with toys and puzzles and even a ride on tractor outside. Sweet little touches like wine, cheese, chocolate and breaky were provided. Short stroll to the dam which had bbq and tyre swing or you could continue on down to the river. We loved being out of town hanging out with nature. Such a relaxing stay, had an absolute ball!!! Would absolutely go back. Thanks for having us!

  • We stayed for 2 nights for a family Christmas event in Echuca and were very happy with the space and location. We had 3 dogs and Trish accommodated us with open arms. The dogs loved the outdoor balcony and kept and eye on the wildlife in the morning from their elevated view point, they loved it. Kitchen is immaculate with extra touches left as a homely welcome.   • This is a roomy property in a great location close to the Murray River. It is about 14km from Echuca, so it suits folk who are more likely to self cater & enjoy the location and the wonderful spa. We went for a restful, lazy 3 night stay, and this delivered in spades. Highly recommended.

    Our garden cottage on Mary Ann Road is a one bedroom, self-contained cabin, perfectly suited for a couple or single traveller. The cottage sits among trees and flower beds, in the back garden of our semi-rural home on the edge of Echuca. Only an 8 minutes drive to the centre of town, everything Echuca has to offer is within comfortable reach. The cottage itself is modern with a full kitchen, separate bedroom, bathroom and living room. Plus air conditioning and a peaceful deck to relax on.
    The cottage is a stand-alone building in the large rear garden behind our house. Our property is one acre in size with well developed trees and garden spaces. The cottage has two entrances and parking space for up to two vehicles. The open-plan living room and kitchen is bright and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with a fridge and cooking facilities. There's a TV and bookshelf with a few games. The bedroom is separate from the living space and has a full wardrobe. The spacious bathroom has a shower, toilet and vanity and is accessed from the main living space.
    Our neighbourhood is a semi-rural area made up of farms and acre allotments. There are sometimes horses in the adjoining paddocks and we are frequently visited by a number of different species of bird, from large water birds using the dam, to tiny wrens and finches.
  • The Garden Cottage is well-named as the quiet setting and outlook is spot on. The bed is super comfortable, the shower has great pressure and the kitchen well-appointed. Free wifi is a bonus. Francie and Greg are very friendly hosts and we hope to be back later in the year.

  • Francie and Greg are lovely, professional and accommodating hosts. The cabin is spacious (more so than most we have stayed in recently) so we did not feel cramped during our 3 night stay. It's on the edge of town and a perfect base to take in all the the area has to offer. Don't be put off by the fact that the cabin is in their back yard. It has complete privacy and your outlook is over their lovely garden. Well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and the bed is very comfortable too.     This space is unique as it doesn't require any access to the main house, we understand that our guest require privacy. You will be left to your own plan with your time in Echuca/Moama. If you would like any local knowledge, we are more than happy to help out. The guest house has a queen bed, couch, bedside table, kitchenette with tea and coffee services, microwave, kettle, toaster, sink and bar fridge. The luxurious bathroom is amazing and includes, shower, toilet and bathroom sink. This is a perfect location for a mid week business trip, wedding or weekend away stopover in Echuca/Moama. Located in central Moama near the Moama Bowling Club, Madison Spa Resort and a short drive (2km) to Morrison's Winery.
    We live in a beautiful neighbourhood. Our neighbours love looking after and taking pride in their garden just like us. The location is great in central Moama and close to local wedding venues such as Morrison's. You can be in the main street of Echuca in a short 5 minutes drive (3km) and it is just 700m from the local Woolworths supermarket, bakery and coffee shop. Parks and Playgrounds are just around the corner just passed the supermarket (1km) There are also great walking and river exercising trails are all within a 1-2km walk to access. We know a few hidden local tracks we're more than welcome to share. The local clubs are all within close proximity, with the Moama Bowling Club, Moama Sports Club, Moama RSL and Moama Golf Club all offering shuttle bus service.
  • Wow this place was amazing. I was after four walls a roof a bed and a shower. What I got was comfortable living area peaceful sleeping and a high standard of cleanliness. All finished with exceptional level of care to features. We were messaged with how to check in and upon our later arrival we greeted with a smile.     Gunbower Island is the largest inland island in Australia.     Located a short drive from central Echuca, 600 meters from a public boat ramp and walking tracks to the mighty Murray River. Family friendly, four-bedroom holiday home, fully equipped with all the luxuries to ensure you have a relaxing getaway. There is a stunning pool which contains an undercover entertaining area. There is also a fenced grass area for the kids to play safely with a trampoline and basketball ring. There is a separate formal courtyard with a large outdoor setting and BBQ.
    The huge Master bedroom is located upstairs with a beautiful deck looking out to the pool area. This room contains a king size bed, parents retreat with a fold out double bed, single trundle, TV and a full en-suite with bath. Downstairs hosts three generous sized bedrooms with some of the original period features of the home. Bedrooms 1 & 2 include a queen size bed, built in robes and views of the manicured gardens. Bedroom 3 contains two generous king single beds and a single trundle. This room also has views of the gardens. Those travelling with children will appreciate the toys available to entertain young kids of various ages. There is a fully functional modern kitchen located in the main hub of the house, with separate dining and living areas. The downstairs bathroom contains a spa bath which provides the perfect way to relax after enjoying all that Echuca has on offer. There is also a European laundry with a washing machine and two double clotheslines. The property boasts lots of natural light, high ceilings that provide a sense of space, ducted heating and evaporative cooling throughout. My husband especially enjoyed the coffee machine! The outdoor area is one of the highlights with the pool and lounge area. Pictures of the house and yard are very accurate. Amy was excellent to communicate with. We contacted her during our stay and she was quick with her reply. We appreciated the early check in and late departure. Would recommend and stay again.

  • The shearing Shea’s is a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful touches such as the large grading table as a kitchen island add so much character to this place. Wonderfully clean and well stocked with all the little extra things that make staying here a pleasure. It’s in a quiet location with the river at the end of the road. I only wish I had remembered to bring the fishing rods. Nights on the veranda with friends and a few wines was just perfect. Thanks for having us, we will be back.

Great amenities provided everything you could imagine! Stunning sunsets from the enclosed verandah and total peace and quiet! There is another person living on site close by in another building however this didn’t concern us at all and it didn’t impact upon our visit. Loved our short morning and evening walks down to the river to explore. We will certainly be returning soon possible during the winter months to make the most of the beautiful fires.

You can explore Echuca Moama at your own pace on foot or why not utilise the 2 mountain bikes we have on the property, we have an abundance of bush walking tracks and riverside trail options all at your fingertips. Upstairs you will find the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. The large main bedroom consists of a king bed, a split system aircon/heater and TV which you can also watch DVD’s on. The second bedroom consists of a queen bed with electric blanket. We also have a porta cot available for use. The upstairs bathroom has a large walk in shower, bath and toilet. We provide basic amenities such as shampoo, conditioner and soap. Downstairs has a separate toilet/powder room. At the Junction Boutique Apartment we provide all linens and towels.
    We are a 300m stroll from the river, and the hustle and bustle of the Port of Echuca. The apartment is across the road from the scenic drive which has a public boat ramp and waking tracks. Or you can walk down and take a paddlesteamer cruise down the river or lunch on the M.V Maryann. With lots to see and do you will never be bored. There is also lots for the kids to do, the picture theatre is just down the road, we have twisted science 1.0km away, oz maze and mini golf and lots of parks to choose from.

The east facing front courtyard deck has lovely dappled shade, provided by the surrounding established trees.     We're located between two no through roads, so it's lovely and quiet. The parking is off street, and guest parking is at the rear of the block, with access via Henry Street. We are located near a high school, so from outside you’ll hear school kids, and inside you’ll hear the school bell during the week.

    This newly renovated home has only just been finished. The atmosphere of the house is calm and relaxed. All bedrooms have undergone the full treatment. I have also personally slept in all beds to make sure the Mattresses are comfortable- so even though there is no bed like your own- I hope that ours will please any guest.
    The garden is surrounded by lovely lush trees making it a tranquil and relaxing environment. Also the house being located close to the CBD give easy walking access to shopping, restaurants, playgrounds and of course , the historic Port of Echuca.

    This large 2 bedroom apartment, built in the 1870's is located in the heart of the old town, Port of Echuca. Historic tourist attractions, restaurants, bars, shops and river walking tracks all only meters from the front door. It has 1 King & 1 Queen bedroom (which can accommodate an extra single futon) and the open plan lounge and dining area can accommodate a King single/double. The kitchen is equipped for cooking and dining. The apartment also includes a bathroom, separate toilet and laundry.
    Echuca Moama is located 2.5 hours North of Melbourne. It is the oldest and was the largest inland port in Australia. Little Hopwood Street (the lane way providing access to the apartment) was a fledgling business empire created by Henry Hopwood, Echuca's founder, in the 1850's. Experience the historic Port of Echuca with easy access to all of the many tourist attractions around Echuca and Moama. Right below the home is some of Echuca's best restaurants, bakeries, tourist attractions and bars. The King Bedroom has a very comfortable King size bed with high quality bed coverings. The view from among the tree tops of the action on High Street is beautiful. The Second bedroom is a Queen Bedroom. The Queen room can also accomodate a dingle futon and looks over High Street and from here you will often see and hear the horse and cart pass on the street below. The lounge room, dinning and kitchen areas are all open plan. The lounge is large enough to combine both additional beds to make a King size futon (or 1 double and 1 single futon). All rooms are large enough to sleep additional guests but to do so, all bedding must be supplied by the occupant. All linen is provided for each of the beds and sofas within the apartment. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, refrigerator and freezer. Glassware, cooking utensils, crockery and pots are provided. The dining table will accommodate 8 people. There is a light filled bathroom with a shower over the bath and a separate toilet. A laundry with washing machine, detergent, clotheshorse and iron. Wifi, a selection of basic cereal, fresh milk, fresh bread, juices, herbal tea and tourist information are all made available for guests on arrival. Convenient access to the apartment is made possible by the use of the key safe located at the front door. Codes to access the key safe will be provided 1 day prior to your arrival. For guests with infants, we have 1 portable cot (including sheets) available and can provide a high chair if requested. There is a door at the top of the stairs to prevent little ones accessing the stairs on their own. The apartment in on the 2nd story of the building. Guests will need to be able to climb 1 flight of stairs to access the apartment.
    Whilst in the apartment you will hear the beautiful sound of the historic Paddle Steamers and you can walk a short 500m to the historic Port Precinct. On High Street you have access to many delicious restaurants and bars and the retail district is within 800m walk.

Unfortunately being an old home it was very noisy on Friday and Saturday night due to the local frivolity, which died down after midnight. Overall we very much enjoyed staying here.

Met by Jess who provided us with details of the area. Had a problem with tv but she was able to fix it. Cereals, milk and snacks provided. Living/dining areas were quite spacious but bedroom furniture was too big for the room. Overall enjoyed our stay in Echuca

    Cosy cabin in a peaceful rural location , close to the Murray river with a beautiful national park to take a stroll or bike ride. Short boat trip to Deep Creek Marina and Perricoota Station. Further up the Murray Valley Highway you will find the Torrumbarry Pub and the famous, beautiful Torrumbarry Weir.
    Our neighborhood is gorgeous, quiet and picturesque with lots of bird life and the occasional kangaroo.

    Pyramid Hill, VIC A small Victorian wheat belt town with a very unusual hill. Pyramid Hill is a small town south of the Murray River. It primary interest lies in the remarkable granite outcrops which are dotted throughout the area. Apart from the outcrop which gives the town its name there is also Bald Rock in Terrick Terrick State Park and Mount Hope, named by Major Thomas Mitchell as he explored the area. The primary place of interest is Pyramid Hill a remarkable triangle of granite which rises from the flat surrounding countryside and, as its name suggests, looks exactly like an Egyptian pyramid. Location Pyramid Hill is located 242 km north of Melbourne via Bendigo. ^ TOP Origin of Name Pyramid Hill is one of those 'bleeding obvious' names because the hill itself, which was first sighted by Major Thomas Mitchell in 1836, looks like a triangle of stone. Thus Mitchell named it because of its similarity, as he wrote, to 'the monuments of Egypt'. ^ TOP Things to See and Do Pyramid Hill Pyramid Hill (187 m above sea-level) is worth visiting because (a) it is a rare natural phenomena which really does look like an Egyptian pyramid - at least from a distance and (b) there is an easy walk up to an excellent vantage point where you can look over the very flat countryside and the nearby town of Pyramid Hill. This is wheat and sheep country which, in the spring, is particularly attractive because it can be covered in wildflowers. In fairness Major Mitchell arrived in the middle of winter and was lyrical in his appreciation of the view. In Three Expeditions into the interior of Eastern Australia he wrote: "Its apex consisted of a single block of granite, and the view was exceedingly beautiful over the surrounding plains, shining fresh and green in the light of a fine morning. The scene was so different from anything I had ever before witnessed either in New South Wales or elsewhere. A land so inviting and still without inhabitants!" Fauna on Pyramid Hill The signage at the bottom of the hill gives a good indication that the careful visitor could see the wedge-tail eagle, black wallaby, yellow-rumped honeyeater, eastern brown snake and zebra finch. Mount Hope Mt Hope was also climbed in 1836 by Thomas Mitchell. The name was given to the hill by Mitchell who, as he climbed, hoped that he would see the sea from its peak. There are picnic facilities and a Mitchell plaque at the base of the mountain and it is but a short walk to the top of the hill. At the top there are panoramic views which take in Kow Swamp and the surrounding farmland. ^ TOP Other Attractions in the Area Terrick Terrick National Park Terrick Terrick National Park lies 20 km south-east of Pyramid Hill. It protects over 200 species of native flora including including Victoria's finest stand of native white cypress pines. Fauna includes grey kangaroos, black wallabies and tree goannas and it is recognised the largest nesting site for brolgas in Victoria. Its birdlife also includes the Plains wanderer, Grey-crowned babbler, barking owl and spotted nightjar. The park has some impressive granite outcrops and rocky depressions which were used as water holes by the Aborigines. ^ TOP History Pyramid Hill is a town which was the victim of a decision by the state railways. It was first explored by Major Thomas Mitchell who, in 1836, climbed and named the hill after which the town is named. Mitchell sang the praises of the district and soon after his exploration squatters moved in and settled. A town, comprising two hotels, St Patrick's Church (1875), a school (dating from 1876), a showground (1888), a weir for regular water supply, a blacksmith and a general store was established on the south side of the hill (you can see old photographs of the town on the signage at the base of Pyramid Hill) near the original Pyramid Hill run but when the railway arrived in the area in 1885 the town was moved to its present site. ^ TOP Visitor Information The best source of local information is the Victoria Hotel, 20 Victoria St, tel: (03) 5455 7391. ^ TOP Useful Websites There is a useful local website - http://www.pyramidhill.net.au - with information about the history and some good photos of the area.

  • We loved our stay at Malibu Palms. We really enjoyed spending a lot of our time outside. The backyard is very spacious and there is plenty to keep young kids and adults occupied. The pool is beautiful on hot days, as it's not heated. Luckily for us it was a hot week and we got to enjoy it most days. The inside has amazing living spaces packed with games and activities for those cold days. Thank you for being a great host. We will be back.
