Places to stay in Fiddletown

Places to stay in Fiddletown
Comfortable 350sf guest suite in a safe, quiet neighborhood in the Northern California Sierra Foothill community of Fiddletown. Fiddletown is in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley wine country and just minutes away from 30 + wineries and tasting rooms. The cottage is located 60 miles from Kirkwood resort and approximately 80 miles to South Lake Tahoe.
The room offers a microwave, electric tea pot, toaster, coffee pot and a small refrigerator with freezer. The bathroom offers a claw-foot tub, heated towel rack and a cabinet for storage. There is a queen size bed and a table for two. We also offer a fenced outside area for your pleasure to enjoy the outdoors with seating.
Fiddletown is a small town in the Sierra Foothills just 5 miles east of Plymouth, CA in Amador County. There is a post office, a community center, a church, candy store with coffee, tennis courts and horse shoe pits that are available to use during your stay. Unfortunately there are no stores in Fiddletown, so Plymouth is the closest town with services. In Plymouth there is a grocery store that closes at 8pm. Colina de Oro Mexican restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner Sunday -Thursday until 830pm and Friday and Saturday until 9pm. Enjoy local beer at the Amador Brewing Company Friday-Sunday with different food options daily. Marlene and Glenn's diner is open Wednesday-Sunday for breakfast and lunch. The Vintage Market and Deli on Main St. is open daily with a variety of food and drink options. There are wine tasting rooms in Plymouth, and many more a short drive into the Shenandoah valley. If you follow highway 49 south towards Jackson, you can travel through Amador City and Sutter Creek, both are small towns with a lot to offer for shopping, food and drinks.
  • A great place to stay while wine tasting at the local vineyards. It was very clean and quite. The bed was very comfortable. It was a nice space.

  • Lovely decor and space. Very good communication with hosts without being in any way obtrusive. Very quiet. We planned microwaveable meals and were able to have breakfast and dinners at "home". We loved it at the Cottage! Thanks!

  • Great fast communication. Space is cozy and lovely.

  • What a jewel this place was, the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was special, the bottle of wine that they left for us was absolutely amazing !!! This was place was sparkling clean, we would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone, if you have a question or need some help the hosts get back with you immediately. We will definitely try and come back and stay here again :-)

  • Always a great stay! Will definitely be back!

    Leah2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a sweet little cottage. It was a perfect central location to explore the local area. It was impeccably clean and I will most definitely return to do more wine tasting in the area.

    Paula2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jessica and Matt's peaceful cottage. It is located close to the Shenandoah Valley wineries and nearby town of Plymouth which offers good dining and shopping. Cottage was welcoming, Jess was quick to respond to any questions and check-in was a breeze. We particularly enjoyed the hummingbird greeting us every morning when visiting its feeder. We'll be back!

    Gary2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was a quaint little spot to stay after wine tasting in the region. It was clean and had everything we needed. It's pretty bare bones but the host was happy to provide things we needed like sugar and milk for coffee. The location is super close to the small town where you can grab dinner and a drink. Gorgeous open farm land behind the house where you can see cows roaming. The owner has 2 adorable and well behaved dogs who will greet you! I would recommend it for an overnight if you're in the area.

    Emily2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Super awesome amenities! Even a amazon fire stick and microwave! Lovely and spacious two rooms and a super nice bathroom too! Great stay and would defiantly recommend!

    Greg2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were thrilled to find a conveniently located, spacious, dog friendly spot to stay in Plymouth for a wine tasting weekend. It's just a two block walk to Main Street for drinks at the Plymouth Hotel or Amador Brewing, and dinner at Taste. The private apartment is roomy and outfitted with everything you need for a comfortable stay (cozy bed, cute kitchen set-up, very clean apartment). I would definitely recommend as a hidden gem in the Plymouth area.

This is an historic home in Fiddletown-casual and comfortable. There are 2 bedrooms. Please note that we charge per bed used. Each additional bed is $25.00 so please be accurate in your bed count. Home is equipped with all the essentials to make your stay in the wine country comfortable.
This home was once the town's brewery and is filled with rustic charm. The patio offers a place to casually entertain. There is a gas BBQ that we ask that you clean after use.
This is an old gold rush era town. Next store there is the Schallhorn building- an old Blacksmith shop and rumored to be a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop. On the other side is the Fiddletown Community Center with a giant fiddle on the roof. Down the block are other historic buildings from this era.
  • This is the second time we stayed at this house and it was great once again. Great location for a quiet getaway in the foothills. The full kitchen is nice, so we didn't need to go out to eat every meal. We hope to visit again!

  • Spacious and secluded retreat. This stay was peaceful and relaxing and JoAnne is very hospitable!

    Amanda2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We held our wedding at a venue in Fiddletown, renting this home for my Aunt to stay. She fell in love with it’s quiet rustic charm, and we benefited from JoAnne keeping us well informed of local conditions. It is a very peaceful space and JoAnne is an excellent host.

    Jamie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming stay! The history and novelty of JoAnne's place made for a fun experience. Fiddletown is quiet and definitely off the beaten path, so be prepared for solace. If you're there on a Saturday, be sure to check out the Chew Kee Store (museum) and the rest of the walking tour. The house itself offered a comfortable stay with everything you need for a relaxing time. The yard and deck were especially great during our summer visit. We hope to be back!

    Amy2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne's place was perfect for what we needed and very affordable. Thank you so much for letting us use your unique home in Fiddletown!

    Tyler2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a charming house. The deck and surrounding grounds were so peaceful. We couldn't have asked for a better place.

    Dawn2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and quiet but close enough to all the wineries. I hope some more shops occupy the area. Great stay!!!

Discover the rich gold mining history of Sutter Creek and taste the large variety of wines produced in Amador County. Just three blocks from Main Street, with restaurants, shopping, wine tasting, a seasonal creek and park, and entertainment. Park your car and explore the charming town of Sutter Creek by foot!
There is an adjacent sitting room to the guest bedroom that is private and has a small keurig type coffee service...plus a piano that you are welcome to play! Your room has a 42 inch TV with Netflix, Amazon Video and local channels. There is a sliding door that divides it from the rest of the house. See pics. I have recently added a dedicated window a/c and heating unit (July, 2019) in the room so that guests can control their own comfort level. And brand new mattresses in June! Once you arrive there is no need to get in your car until you leave! Great places to walk, whether it is for exercise, to dinner, coffee, shopping, wine tasting or entertainment. You will find a very active little theater on Main Street and lots of California gold mining history everywhere you look.
If dancing is your thing, you may want to drive the two miles to Amador City for Dancing in the Streets every Saturday night from June through August. On Saturday mornings we have a Farmers Market just three blocks away. For breakfast, you can't beat Buffalo Chips for a classic morning start or if you want something out of the ordinary, walk another block to Element for a little more adventurous and very delicious menu. Chocolatte is the place to be for wonderful pastries and divine coffee, plus homemade chocolates that will stop you in your tracks. For a casual dinner it's back to Buffalo Chips for the best burger and fries in the county or to the Hotel Sutter for ambiance, a fun lobby bar with the coldest tap beer to be found, the Cellar Bar where you'll find live music on the weekends, Trivia on Tuesdays and HDTV for the big game on Sunday. I am excited to share this town I have grown to love so much!
  • I just had a quick business overnight trip and Judi’s place is great. Clean, quiet, easy parking, easy walk to cute Main Street....this is my second time staying at Judi’s.

    Lori2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This lodging is pleasant and private and includes a sitting room. You won't need to drive your car if you want to explore Sutter Creek. The interior design and landscaping are inspirational. A well-mannered canine friend to greet you too.

    Carol2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Judos place is exactly what anyone is looking for... clean respectful down to earth hospitality and she has a dog... what else is there.

    Troy2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great communicator and the best hospitality

    Troy2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • There are some airbnbs that you stay at and think to yourself, "this is nice." And then there are ones you stay at and think "I wish this was my home." Judi's house was the latter. It's comfortable and unique and spacious, and Judi is such a great host. The main street of Sutter Creek is just a block away. A word of warning: everything closes really early on Sundays!

    Katie2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Judi was a very gracious host and the space was comfortable. Would stay there again.

    Scott2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay. The guest house was cozy and relaxing with a beautiful view on the deck from the bedroom. And the hot tub was so nice under the stars. She made us a delicious breakfast both mornings. She is such a sweet lady and her dogs are absolutely adorable. We would love to come stay with her again!

    Matthew2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time visiting volcano and staying here. Dianne is such a lovely host. She’s the only Airbnb host who actually makes breakfast. It’s always so good, too. Her guest house is clean and cute. We love to sit on the back deck in the afternoon and relax with the dogs. The hot tub after the sun goes down is spectacular! You can see every star out there. The kennels and amenities provided for the dogs are so nice and thoughtful. We’ll definitely be coming back here again and we would recommend it to everyone.

We have several amenities set up for your stay such as; a whole-house automatic generator, washer/dryer, dishwasher, full refrigerator, Keurig coffee machine, TV, office nook, etc. The home is stocked with many common essentials including; cookware, dining sets, shampoos, conditioners, soaps, towels, laundry detergent, etc.

The shop owners are often present and full of friendly conversation. If you get hungry try the famous Andrae's Bakery or a tasty homecooked meal at Small Town restaurant. I recommend exploring the wines at The End of Nowhere while you decide where to eat.
  • We very much enjoyed staying in Chris' place. The little house contained everything we needed and we enjoyed the proximity to Amador City and wind country. It was also very well maintained and had some lovely personal touches. For those who feel strongly about these things, there is no Wi-Fi but we never found a need for it.

    Martie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Chris’s home! It was incredibly clean and very quaint. Nice big shower, bed was comfy, and the deck outside was nice to sit on and enjoy the weather. The neighborhood was very quiet and the price was so affordable and totally worth it. Highly recommend this place

  • Such a charming place! So cozy, clean, comfy! We will be back for sure! THANK YOU

    Jill2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I were having a mini staycation for New Years and we got so lucky with this cottage! The place is so clean so you feel super comfortable making yourself at home. The deck is amazing at night for looking at the stars, and the we absolutely utilized the fire pit out front. The check in was super simple and although you’re in a small town you’re near a lot of local attractions. We went to the Rancheria for breakfast, Black Chasm Cavern to explore the cave, downtown Sutter Creek and everything was at most a 30 minute drive. I would stay here again for sure

    Mandy2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Chris' home is perfect for a couple getaway! We loved everything about it. The cleanliness and extra touches made it feel so cozy and welcoming! It's in the heart of wine country and offers the perfect distance to many fun things.

  • Second visit here and already talking about when we can go back. Such a lovely place and Harvey and Nancy are wonderful hosts. The property inside and outside is beautiful and relaxing. Was able to hike a little this time and really enjoyed seeing more of the property. One of the best Airbnb experiences we've had, if not the best.

    Jeanette2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Harv and Nancy's guest house is spectacular. It is warm, cozy and very stylishly appointed. But even better than the guest house are Harv and Nancy themselves. They are very friendly, helpful and offered some very nice activities for us at the property. They are five stars all around!

    Gary2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Harvey and Nancy's vineyard cottage was way beyond our expectations! The well appointed and lovely decor, the thoughtful food and beverages that were available to us, and Harvey and Nancy's genuine hospitality made us feel comfortable and pampered. We will definitely return to this retreat so we can continue to explore more of Amador and El Dorado's wine country!

    Sharon2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Once upon a time in a land far away things were perfect. People had no worries and everyone was friendly and neighborly. Politics did not divide people. Folks were kind and made cheese together and even uncorked champagne in unique ways. Once upon a time at Linebarier Vineyards life was at it's best thanks to Nancy and Harvey! We will be back!

    Dave2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Far and away the best AirBNB experience we've ever had. The home was even nicer in person than in photos, stocked to the rim with everything you could ever need, beautiful and easy to access location and the nicest hosts you could ever have. Harvey and Nancy really made the whole weekend extra special! From champagne opening with a saber to Ricotta cheese making and more, it was certainly a trip we won't soon forget. Couldn't recommend more and we hope to return soon :)

    Tyler2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the best air b & b we have ever stayed in. Harvey and Nancy were amazing hosts. They had truly thought of everything to make our stay so relaxing. The place was very comfortable and stylishly decorated. The surrounding property was absolutely gorgeous. Be sure to check out their vineyard and flat creek. We will definitely be coming back.

    Victoria2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Where is the 20 star rating?? Because Harvey and Nancy deserve one! Their place is just amazing. They are above and beyond thoughtful and accommodating hosts. This was our number one stay for sure! Thank you both very much for a wonderful weekend.

    Jindrus2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is like staying at a private winery. It is quiet, clean, secluded, and friendly. If Harvey asks you to meet him for bubbly to watch the sunset, say YES! Our stay far exceeded any expectations that we had.

Havenwood is a replica Victorian structure, designed and built in 1987 as a Bed & Breakfast. We are conveniently located close to Premium Wineries, Indian Casinos, Mother Lode Antiquing, Quaint Shops, Golf Courses, Historic Museums, Gourmet Dining, Live Theatre, Skiing, Hiking, Water Sports or just relaxing on a drive thru the Quiet Back Roads of Amador County.
Situated on 5 acres of oaks and pines, Havenwood is nestled in amongst the trees, yet has a view of Mt. Zion to the east. The location was chosen for providing seclusion, privacy and a wonderful place for guests to relax. All rooms have private baths. Some rooms have whirlpool tubs, balcony and wood stoves. All rooms have A/C. A shared refrigerator is available for guest use. We offer a continental breakfast each morning. Guests are invited to relax in the parlor, sunroom, deck, or in one of the many sitting areas outside. Havenwood is a smoke free property. We do have animals.....4 chickens, 2 large labradoodles, 1 mini aussie and 2 cats.
Our neighborhood is on a private road, where neighbors wave at each other on the road and stop to visit when out for a walk. We have several neighborhood "get togethers" throughout the year which gives us all time to relax and get caught up with all our friends.
  • That was a real beauty, we loved this house. You need to spend days in the house to notice every small and beautiful touch inside each room. Tammy, her sisters, and her mom was very charming. Breakfast was excellent. We definitely will visit them soon again!

    Erdem2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely, warm and hospitable place! Our hosts were so kind, the place was spotless and very comfortable. The amenities were fabulous! I hope to come back.

  • No matter if you have business or pleasure in Amador county Tammys place is the most wonderful home away from home you will find. I have been going there regularly for the past few weeks and their home, it’s Victorian decor, genuine hospitality, and kindness have been the most pleasant of surprises and things I look forward to. They greet you with such personal interest; remembering your particular likes and preferences. It’s such a welcomed change in a world that has lost some of its warmth. I encourage you to book, visit the area; you won’t be disappointed.

    Bridgett2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • I could not possibly say enough good things about Tammy’s place. I comfort, character, and hospitality this family shows is unmatched. I stay there a couple days each week and they go out of their way to make me feel like family. I STRONGLY recommend Tammy’s place if you are in the area, if you want to get away from the busy-ness of life, to hike ,wine taste or just get away from home. You will NOT be disappointed 😊😊.

  • The Christmas decorations were amazing. Everywhere we looked there was something special to see. The breakfast (continental style), was delicious. We especially liked the fruit. The room was warm and cozy. Our hostesses were friendly and made us feel right at home. We loved the conservatory (sunroom). The plants are quite beautiful. We will be back. Sincerely, Mary & Herman

    Herman2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • As in my previous review, my expectations were exceeded by the family of hosts who understand hospitality and have anticipated the needs of their guests and provided generously! Its nice to have choices, and they abound here!

  • You will be delighted with your experience at this haven of rest! A personal welcome, making me feel right at home! I found it so quiet and peaceful! I recommend staying long enough to just experience silence! Most have never even known the restorative quality of it. But there is more! So much more! A game of Frisbee golf, anyone! Hospitality here is a family affair with every need anticipated and met so I had no need to ask for a thing! A literal smorgasbord of snacks and continental breakfast! I have never seen such a spread with fresh cut fruits, and baked goods to choose from! Comfortable beds and clean, clean everything! Treat yourself!

  • What can I say about Havenwood? How about GO THERE?!!!!! We had an outstanding experience staying at a great location with kind, thoughtful hosts! We were looking for somewhere different to stay during an event in the area and found exactly what we were looking for. If your travels take you to the Jackson, California area, I highly recommend Havenwood!

Cozy farm stay offering FULL(AMERICAN) ORGANIC BREAKFAST: Fresh seasonal fruit, homemade bread and jams, egg dish, coffee or tea. Room has queen bed in alcove and single bed. One of 2 upstairs guest rooms. Only natural, hypoallergenic cleaners used. Ten acre farm produces apples and other fruits, walnuts, vegetables, eggs, herbs. Ten minutes from Plymouth wineries, 1 hour from skiing. Outside seating areas and paths to enjoy the outdoors. Very quiet and comfortable year-round.
Just outside the gold rush village of Fiddletown, Casa de la Pradera offers stays on a small organic farm that produces vegetables, fruits, walnuts and eggs. Comfortable guest room upstairs with plenty of privacy. Nearby wineries, charming towns, good restaurants. This is a European-style farm stay, offering simple, very comfortable lodging with a full breakfast made with organic locally sourced eggs and produce and homemade bread. I use only nontoxic, natural cleaning products such as baking soda and lavender oil. Private room, shared bath, downstairs kitchen/living room, 10 acres of garden, meadow and woods. Daffodils and flowering quince now blooming. I enjoy getting to know my guests in particular over breakfast, and I am delighted to show my small farming operation to those who are interested, either informally or through workshops on growing crops, bread making, jam making, or cheese making. I am right over the ridge (less than 1/4 mile) from the tiny village of Fiddletown, where I grew up and which still has many historic buildings and a museum, the Chew Kee Store. There are a number of public events, among them the Fiddlers Jam the third Saturday in September. Look up other events on the Amador County web site. No Public transportation. Bicycle travel challenging, though bike groups do travel the rural roads. I do have a fairly large dog, Sally, who really likes people and is well behaved. If you have small children with you or you are dog-phobic, I will ensure minimal contact. She is never allowed in the upstairs where the guest rooms are. Most guests love her!
  • Alice has a very warm, cozy and charming home. The breakfast was outstanding which included great coffee, home made English muffins with 3 types of home made jam, local fruit, greet yogurt and a yummy frittata. All of this served up with good conversation and warm hospitality. What more could one ask for?

  • Great breakfast and super clean

    zhiqiang2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Alice’s farmhouse is warm, artistically styled, welcoming and super clean. She makes a beautiful seasonal breakfast, and for me, made accommodations to warm up my vegan dish I’d brought along. And she served us homemade stewed quince the day after Thanksgiving!! Yum!

  • Rustic, basic, peaceful

    Susan Leslie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 2 nights at Alice's bed and breakfast. Her farm and home are lovely, with comfortable cozy rooms, lots of books to flip through during your stay, and a wonderful fresh breakfast every morning. The location is pleasantly remote, but 15-20 minutes from several cute towns and great vineyards. We really enjoyed getting to know Alice, and thank her for the hospitality and very pleasant weekend.

    Kate2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's little farmhouse in the woods was wonderful. Clean, warm and dry. (Important to us as we were riding motorcycles in the rain.) And she made us the most wonderful breakfast in the morning. It was a few miles from Plymouth, off the beaten path, but to us this was a plus--a wonderful ride through an oak forest to get there, and as quiet as could be. We plan on staying there again, which is really the only review one needs, isn't it?

    Terence2019-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • Alice was great and her place was perfect for us! Great farmhouse feel and even better homemade breakfast! We also loved her dog... she has the prettiest eyes I've ever seen on a dog!

  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Alice’s place. The accommodations and hospitality were great! The homemade breakfast was outstanding. A nice stay in a quiet country setting.

  • We spent a night on the platform under the oak tree during the Big Crush there in Amador. Alice was there to greet us and show us around when we arrived. What a beautiful property! The breakfast in the morning was amazing. I was a little concerned to see how the shared bathroom would work out as there were two other guest there - but it all worked out fine. Highly recommend a stay with Alice!!!

    Rebecca2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot imagine a more delightful stay. The beauty and charm of Alice's property made me feel I was in a fairy tale; morning coffee in the garden, wholesome breakfast, flowers and greenery everywhere. It really was a treat. I'd come back if ever in the area.

    Mark2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was very nice staying at Alice her place. It peaceful and beautiful. Her dinner and breakfast are made with love and you can taste that! We had some lovely conversations as well. Would recommended if you look for a nice spot to stay over and have some quiet time and nature.

  • Great place to stay for a tent. Enough privacy and great atmosphere for that simple getaway. And the breakfast was awesome.

    Michael2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were biking past Alice's place and there are no other campgrounds in the area. Staying on the platform gives you access to a bathroom/shower and a delicious breakfast. Alice was accommodating when our plans changed due to biking tiredness. A beautiful spot.

    Kristin2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is great. It was so fun to stay on her platform instead of a crowded campground and her homemade breakfast was amazing! It's not every day you get fresh scones baked in front of you! Alice was very accommodating of our schedule and indulged us in our questions about Fiddletown history. Very cool experience!

  • Thank you for another wonderful relaxing evening after a day of wine tasting with you on the farm. We love the peacefulness and love waking up to fresh ground coffee and delicious breakfast. This is our 2nd time here and will be back I’m sure. Definitely a great place to get away from it all. Til next time ..

  • What a wonderful experience and stay at Alice’s farmhouse. We were greeted by Sally her friendly beautiful dog. It was completely stress free and enjoyed the fresh clean air. The bed was so comfy and loved the lavender sachets made from fresh lavender from her farm. Even the mushrooms were harvested from the property for the yummy frittata. French press coffee freshly ground in her very cool hand grinder. So much to see and do in the area. Fiddletown is a quaint historical town. We enjoyed some wonderful wine in Sutter Creek and Plymouth, made lots of new friends and will definitely be returning to the area and would absolutely stay again with Alice and Sally on her farm. Doesn’t get much better than this if your looking to get away and relax!

  • We had a wonderful time staying with Alice. Breakfast was amazing, and Sal, her dog, is such a doll. It was nice sleeping with the window door open, and being able to enjoy the fresh cool breeze. Then, waking up to birds chirping, and wind chimes. We look forward to visiting Alice again, one of these days.

    Tami2018-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is charming, peaceful, quiet and beautiful, with Clean air. Alice and her dog create an unpretentious refuge from urban life.

    Barbara2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We only had the opportunity to spend one night at Alice's but it was charming; she is a delightful host with lots of knowledge about the area. It was close to all the wineries we wanted to visit and extremely peaceful and quiet. It felt like a European home stay.

    Susan2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Alice’s place is a rustic gem. We came to the area for a wine tasting weekend, and wanted a nice quiet “home base.” This was all that, plus a tasty and hearty breakfast. Alice was a thoughtful and accommodating host, and shared interesting information about the area. We would stay with Alice again when in the area!

You will be cozy, comfortable and in touch with nature at the Cowboy Cabin. And in a great location for a fantastic weekend of wine tasting, strolling historic towns, exploring Amador County or, simply enjoying country life.
Fiddletown is a historic Gold Rush era town, located within 4-10 miles from well known Shenandoah Valley wineries. We are 54miles from Kirkwood Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe area. Plymouth, Amador City and Sutter Creek are a short distance and offer historic charm as well as shopping and dining experiences.
  • Wendi and Carlos have a charming and rustic cabin that is peaceful and very comfortable. We'll be back again...

  • Very clean and cozy cabin. Loved the Alpacas roaming around in the morning!

    Denise2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The place is ideal to relax in the middle of nature and animals. The house is decorated by the works of the owners which makes the place unique and atypical.

    Camille2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay. We are pretty private so we didn’t meet Wendi or Carlos. I felt if we needed or wanted to meet them, they would be great, and I appreciated them keeping their distance when we didn’t initiate it. Alpacas. We exchanged messages through the app and they were responsive and very sweet. The cabin is modest and simple, the beds are comfy and warm, kitchen was basic and sufficient. Alpacas. The decorations were unique and cohesive, giving the cabin a rad cabin vibe. Everything was clean without feeling sterile. Shower had enough hot water for our quick showers, didn’t try to push beyond that. Amenities we appreciated: TV and DVD player. Only a couple of DVDs there so bring your own. No cable or anything else, which fits with the place Warm blankets everywhere! Alpacas Pressure cooker Coffee maker and kettle I was concerned about being too chilly (February visit) but we were able to quickly warm the place with the stove heater thing in the mornings (alpacas) and evenings and the blankets were warm enough to get through the nights. Alpacas. The lowest it got was 42F so I can’t speak to anything lower than that. Alpacas.

  • Great location. It was very quiet even though it was 4th of July. It’s a great place to get out of city and have some nature retreat. Too many kids everywhere, but it’s a campground so it didn’t bother me that. Very close to a lot of attractions (caves, small towns, farmer markets, casino, etc). Many lakes to visit around (my dog loved all of them), hiking trails and about 1 hour of Sacramento and 1 hour and 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe. If you plan you can visit both on your stay. I would recommend at least 3 days in the area!

This is the country -so you do see stars at night, cows and goats in fields and there are dogs that bark!!!!

    Melanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's place is wonderful! It is exactly as described and there is not much left to say that hasn't already been said. I will note that the neighbors to the left and right of the house are distant, and there is no neighbor to the rear of the house. There is no fence demarcating a yard in these directions. Instead, it feels more like open wilderness around the cabin, which is beautiful. Behind the house there is a hill which elevates to the forest line, so it is possible to go on a small hike up the hill and appreciate some amazing views of the surrounding area. Some of my other favorite things here: amazing sunsets, the stars appeared brighter than I had seen them in years due to the wonderfully remote-ish location, and the sound of frogs at night are magical.

  • This is a small hotel-like room next to the campground rental office. For heating and cooling, they have an old-fashioned wall heater with an analog level control and a free-standing newer model A/C unit. The night was cool enough we never turned on the A/C. The room has an adequate-sized mini fridge that kept our food items cold. They also have a small microwave. They provided a coffee-maker. The floor echoes a bit when you walk on it but we did not find it much of a problem. We were delayed on arriving and they provided us with a keycode over the phone to get in the door. The two beds had a "muffintop" extra cushion layer that was comfortable to sleep on. The room was VERY quiet. Only in the morning did we hear people walk outside the door. A small TV was on the wall, but we never turned it on. They were dog friendly (up to two) and we had no issues with the service dog we brought. The surrounding forest is very beautiful and we enjoyed a walk outside. They do not serve food, but directed us to an independently owned Pine Grove Road House that serves breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and tea. It was pleasant stay and a we would rent it again if passing through the area.

  • The studio was a beautifully decorated, quaint, homey place to stay for a nice little weekend in wine country! Shaun and Holly are wonderful hosts and this is definitely a place my husband and I will come back to stay for a weekend in Amador!

    Alexis2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Valentine's weekend was our second stay at Shaun and Holly's Hideaway, and it was even better than our first. Shaun and Holly continue to improve what was already a wonderful home-away-from-home for our Gold Country adventures! We love the comfy bed, the cozy sitting area with electric fireplace, the full kitchen, and the private deck. The baby goats, rural surroundings, and proximity to historic Sutter Creek are all icing on the cake. Shaun and Holly are friendly, conscientious, caring hosts and all-around good people. We highly recommend Shaun and Holly's place!

  • Shaun and Holly's place is clean and pristine, comfortable and beautiful, welcoming and homey. We especially loved the full-size fridge and the electric fireplace. Shaun and Holly are stellar hosts who went above and beyond to make sure that we felt at home. We enjoyed the views from the deck, the goats, and the nearby hiking. This is a private, rural setting just minutes from historic Sutter Creek. In a word - awesome!!!

    Ingrid2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were honored to be Holly’s first guest in her decorator style studio set on beautiful acreage in the hills of Sutter Creek. There were many extra amenities that we so appreciated and Holly met us and wished us safe travels as we left. There is a lovely porch with outdoor furniture. We could gaze on the pool and the wooded surroundings. We felt welcome and left as friends and intend to return. The bed was very comfortable and the painting/color choices in the studio felt very contemporary. We enjoyed visiting the goats on the property as well which was an added bonus.

  • The place was clean, had a nice fireplace stocked with wood, and it was a great location. Amber was very helpful with providing information ahead of time and they left us some tips on places to go while we were there. We would stay here again.

    Megan2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place has everything you need. It's a perfect size for a couple or two or a couple with a child. It was super close to town, the property was nice and quiet and pretty. The check in was super easy. The kitchen was great if you wanted to stay a week. the wifi worked great. The beds and couch were comfortable. The space heaters were completely sufficient to heat the entire place. We already made another reservation for 3 months out. We fell in love with Sutter Creek. The place was not fancy, it was more of "all the basic needs". For instance, they didn't give you fancy spa towels and the couch had covers on it because it was an old couch that had some stains.... but we think of it as more of a "cabin" not a luxurious hotel stay and we didn't mind at all. The pool looked inviting (it was closed at the time). Can't wait to go back in the summer and enjoy it, and hopefully, we can buy some flowers when we go back. Note: The cell coverage wasn't good so you want to load your maps and save the phone number before you get out there because we couldn't load the map at the last minute.

  • All I can say is this place is easily the best Airbnb I have stayed in and I have stayed in a LOT. Amber is an incredible host, the place is nothing short of stunning and the everything was incredible. I was actually finishing a very important project I needed great WiFi for so was worried when I read the description but it was literally the host being overkill amazing - the wifi was better than mine at home! It sums up the whole experience.... its under promise OVER deliver. Will be back. :-) This place has that good juju!!!!! :-)

"The Carriage House at Avio", offered by Stefano & Lisa Watson, is vineyard lodging at its best. This completely private, one-room guest cottage, with capacity for two people, is decorated in an upscale authentic western theme. You'll enjoy amenities such as a private full bath, king size bed, fireplace, TV, DVD & CD player, and use of the pool. There is also a separate private kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave and toaster for your use.
We've paid attention to every detail to ensure your stay with us will be a memorable one. Custom features abound; from the authentic cowhide headboard and chenille throw on the full-length overstuffed leather sofa, to the burlap walls decorated with authentic spurs/bridles, and an antique saddle from the 1800's. At the end of the day, you'll feel you're truly the master of the estate as you enjoy a complimentary bottle of champagne to toast the sunset's glow on the vineyard.
Sutter Creek is 2 miles away which is a charming Gold Rush era village with lots of shopping and dining.
  • This is a beautiful setting for this rustic carriage house and Stefano was an excellent host. He was quick to respond, easy to talk with, and toured us around his wine facilities. We were able to freely explore the property and felt very comfortable at the house. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to explore the Amador wine scene.

  • This is a great opportunity to stay at the beautully maintained Avio vineyard and winery in an exceptional setting and location in spacious private quarters next to the Owners home. The location is far enough away yet close enough to everything the area has to offer. The large room is outfitted in a tastefull cowboy and ranch theme and very comfortable. The grounds are well maintained in a beautiful setting and has great ambiance. Our hosts, Lisa & Stefano are excellent hosts and were quick to offer assistance with any of our needs. Dave, who manages the winery, was a lot of fun talking about his passion for making great wines. We plan retuning to this true gem.

Our town is quite and friendly, with award winning restaurants -- including Taste -- and is the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley wine country. Plymouth is home to the Amador County Fair and a myriad of special events - including Four Fires, the Big Crush, Trick-or-Treating at the 49er and a host of seasonal events for adults and children alike.
  • Plymouth is a great place with a small town feel and you can't do better than to book a stay at this house. A quick walk to downtown with wineries, restaurants and a cafe and easy access to more wonderful wineries in Amador County and the Shenandoah Valley. The house is really well done and is set up for entertaining with a porch/yard area and built in BBQ. We loved the decorating and how they set the whole place up. We used as part a bigger event (our daughters wedding) and Elizabeth and Steven were such wonderful hose. We had the rehearsal dinner in the yard and they were so accommodating and thoughtful in every step. We could not have asked for a better weekend/event!

    David2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Located very centrally for the towns around there and only a walk to get to the local brewery, the only diner, and the store! Fantastically set up and really sweet hosts. They had plenty of suggestions and were quite communicative.

    Sophie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very private, charming & comfortable home! Everything you need is provided. The patio area was an added bonus, complete with bbq & gas fireplace.

    Carla2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was absolutely amazing! We went to dinner and came back to the fire out back lit for us to enjoy ! All the rooms were very clean! Elizabeth and Steve are fantastic people that will put your needs above theirs any day!

    Taylor2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough superlatives to describe Elizabeth and Steve's place. Superb decor of 1860's home supplemented with modern amenities. Private outdoor covered patio with gas fireplace a huge plus even in January. Full kichen with everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. Great location in midpoint of Mother Lode allows easy access to all attractions. Walk one block to spectacular dining at Taste, don't miss Andrea's Bakery (Amador City) for breads pastries cheese, gourmet sandwiches etc. or for that matter the food truck at the top of the hill on 49 before you turn to Jackson. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Amador County.

    Paul And Janet2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriends and I had a great stay at Elizabeth and Steven’s place. It is so well decorated, clean and close to all the wineries as wells right near the Main Street that has some restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay again! Thank you!

    Lyndsay2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Elizabeth and steven went above and beyond our expectations for our wedding. Her pictures dont do it justice. I was of course a nervous bride so worried cause the weather called for rain. They had plan B ready and saved the day for us. It was the most magical day ever. All the details of her vintage property were incredible. My wedding day was incredible because of them. Thank you so much for all your help. I cant wait to visit there again

    Candace2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home in a perfect location! Came to Plymouth for a friends trip and this home was perfect for all of our needs. Very clean and had everything we needed during our weekend trip. A stay at our one-of-a-kind barn house is an exceptional get-away experience. Located in the Sierra foothills wine country on our 42-acre ranch, it is close to wineries, restaurants, shops, and historical sites of the Gold Rush.
We call this the "barn house" because it occupies a corner of our barn/workshop. It is a wonderful space, smack dab in the middle of a beautiful rural setting, but with a very urban feel. There is everything here to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable: 1 bedroom with a cal king bed; a FULLY equipped kitchen; dvd player + various dvds; wireless internet; indoor wood burning stove for cosy evening fires (firewood provided); outdoor charcoal gill (charcoal provided); and outdoor dining space on your own private patio with a GORGEOUS view (trust me, that's not an exaggeration!). This space is located on our 75-acre ranch where you are welcome to experience ranch life as much or as little as you want. We have 20+ ewes and lambs, a family of goats, lots of chickens (we supply you with their eggs!), two dogs, 2 cats, and several ducks that live full time on the pond. The barn house is surrounded by our small vineyard of Primitivo grapes, plus there are groomed walking trails throughout the ranch. The setting is really stunning, with lots of heritage oaks and rolling hills. Guests can take in as much or as little ranch life as they like. They are welcome to explore the property at will. We are happy to make your stay an enjoyable and hassle-free one. We love meeting new people but are very good at giving guests all the privacy they need. We live on the other side of the property so we're always around to answer questions and show you the lay of the land. The barn house is perfectly located to experience everything Amador county has to offer. Wine tasting at the fine wineries of Shenandoah Valley or El Dorado County is just a short drive away. In addition to the wineries, this area has lots of historical sites and charming little towns to explore. Just to mention a few options, you can visit Indian Grinding Rock Historical Park, explore caves at Black Chasm Cavern, or browse the art galleries and antique shops in Sutter Creek and Amador City. Amador also has really excellent places to eat: try breakfast at nearby Element in Sutter Creek, lunch at Andrae's Bakery in Amador City (best bakery in northern CA!) and dinner at the highly acclaimed restaurant Taste in Plymouth. Guests will need a car. If you happen to be looking for a place to accommodate a larger family/friends group, we have a 2 bedroom cottage on the property that is available on Airbnb as well.
  • What a beautiful space! It's warm and comfortable, with a great view of a working farm. Sherry was very accommodating. I highly recommend her place.

    Ben2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this stay. We had a wonderful time relaxing in the clean and quite barn. Our dog had room to run and loved exploring the farm.

    Elizabeth2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fabulous place. Quiet, secluded but not far from wineries. Highly recommended

    Liz2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is our third or fourth stay at the Barn House. It’s an airy, peaceful space, a bit of a drive from town, but so worth it. We especially appreciate our hosts’ generous touches — fresh eggs, their own wine, fruit and more. We usually visit a few wineries, and this time we discovered two worth mentioning: Rombauer has opened a tasting room on Steiner Road, and Wilderotter, on Shenandoah School Road, offers a great tasting experience (good wine, too). And don’t miss Kehret off Mount Aukum Road for the best view.

    Cathleen2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third time staying at Sherry and Dan’s. We love this farm getaway so much! The space is well laid out and has anything you could need - even farm fresh eggs and a bottle of their very own wine. It’s a serene and quiet stay that always feels too short. The land itself is stunning, offering beautiful walks through the trees and a great ensemble of animals: sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, chickens, cats, and dogs. Sherry and Dan even let us bottle feed a lamb and help feed the pigs! We are so grateful they share their farm to visitors, and we are already looking forward to our next stay.

    Kim2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • One of my family’s favorite local places to stay.

    Leslie2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second visit and it was as good as the first. We came from Silicon Valley to relax and got just that. If not sitting/walking at the ranch (enjoying the antics of the lambs, pigs, chickens and goats), you can take a short ride to many old gold rush towns or related museums/parks. For those that read my 2018 review, I had too much fun and never got to that book. Sherry is a great host!

The larger bedroom has twin beds that make up into a king bed, a walk-in closet, and bathroom with tub and shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed and bathroom with shower. The kitchen & dining space are fully equipped. Wi-Fi communications is included as is central heating/AC, wood-burning stove, alarms and hardwood floors.
Our property is in a wooded rural area easily accessible by private vehicle. The Fiddletown winegrape appellation is known for old higher-level Zinfandel vineyards, one of which is our neighbor. Other adjacent neighbors are small horse ranches. Our pasture has cows of all sizes much of the year.
  • Private, stand-alone cottage perfect for 2 couples. Outdoor deck is a great place for coffee in the morning. Don't be surprised if you see chickens or turkey running around. We also saw deer. Host is very accommodating in every possible way. Location is about 15 minute drive east of Plymouth. Fully furnished with kitchen equipment for cooking, music, games, cable TV in living room, washer & dryer, coffee, soap, and even breakfast goodies. Wifi works well.

  • My buddy and I had a wonderful time here. Helen and her family are so thoughtful, and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is beautiful, spotless, modern and quiet, and just slightly over an hour away from Kirkwood. I definitely wanna come back again to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. A small detail during our stay really touched me. Shortly before our departure, a fallen tree nearby caused a unexpected power outage. Helen kept us informed the whole time. When we stepped in the cottage, the fireplace had already been lit for a while to keep the place warm. One of the nicest hosts I’ve had with AirBnb.

  • It’s all been said in previous reviews-we agree 100%. Helen and Austin are amazing hosts, and their guest cottage is truly the nicest Airbnb we’ve ever stayed in. We’d love to live here full time :-)

  • Impeccably clean, all the amenities you could want and a calm, pretty location. Great hosts too.

  • What a beautiful & secluded spot!! Helen could not be more welcoming and the coffee and breakfast items were so appreciated! Be sure to bring any food for other meals with you as it is quite a drive to groceries and restaurants. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!!

    Holly2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! Stayed with some friends and the host was amazing and very kind. Can't wait to return!

  • We couldn't have been more pleased with Helen's accommodations. We needed the two bedrooms and the layout provided an added touch of privacy. We chose the location to visit Amador County wineries and it worked out great. Helen and her husband were both very welcoming and genuine.

  • Photos definitely do not do this lovely space justice. It’s a peaceful escape from everything, complete with an apple orchard! We stayed w our 3 kids and loved the games and CDs available. There are so many thoughtful touches - extra bedding, breakfast items, games, candles, firewood. It is very possibly the best AirBnB we have ever stayed in. And the mattresses were wonderfully firm too! We will certainly be back.

This is a quiet neighborhood but it is pleasant to walk around and enjoy the fresh air.
  • Wow! I was looking for something small, comfortable and cozy and I found just that! You will be absolutely blown away by the hot tub (warm and relaxing) and the outdoor shower (plenty of room, hot OR cold) when you first walk into the back. Then you step inside and there's a living room on the right, and to the left is the bathroom, bedroom and eating area. It was the perfect spot for a quick wine tasting weekend. After relaxing in the hot tub (in the rain, so romantic!) we spent the next day in Sutter Creek and on the way back ran into car problems. I told Laureen about my predicament and she let us check out late and offered to help in anyway possible. Laureen is the best host and I am so thankful I was able to find this cute little spot, thanks again for all the help Laureen!!

  • Friendly host, very clean, beautiful quiet neighborhood. Outdoor shower was pretty cool right next to hot tub, you can look at the woods while you enjoy a hot or cold shower. Conveniently located for those who want to be away from it all but within 20 minutes of wine, hiking, and water.

    Angela2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lauren's place is serene and near beautiful fun towns and things to do. She is a very thoughtful host, and the new outdoor shower! Love it at Laureen's place!!

  • Amazing host and amazing place! Perfect place to stay if going to Kirkwood! I absolutely would stay here again!

    Mihir2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • A great weekend in Amador County thanks to Laureen! The heater in our room apparently broke before we arrived but Laureen purchased a replacement right away. We were toasty and warm both in the room and in the hot tub. We enjoyed the outdoor shower as well.

  • Beautiful property. Biggest jetted bathtub I've ever seen. Good selection of food and drinks for breakfast.

  • Lovely setting and truly excellent hosts. Very convenient for many foothill highlights, such as Black Chasm, Grinding Rock State Park, and historic foothill towns. We were well-supplied with treats and information.

  • This Haven is like my second home. I come here a few days a week for work and the “Ladies” as I lovingly call them never cease to make me feel special. They go out of their to way to make my stays personally comfortable. Always immaculate, warmly decorated and ready for me to relax when I walk through the door. There is even a basket with extra toiletries for things you may have forgotten at home! If you’re in the area or are just looking for a place to get away; unplug or explore; I encourage you to stay a day or two. I am never disappointed.

  • It was amp beautiful week at my home away from home. Tammy, her sister and Mom lovingly known as “The Ladies” never cease to make the difference in my day and stay. Immaculately, warm and full of decorative joy of the season “The Haven” is highly remains recommended if you are in the area or just need a quiet getaway. You won’t be disappointed!

  • Straight out of hallmark Christmas movie is where My wife and I stayed a few days ago. Tammy and her family have done a exquisite job of wrapping warm, stylish yet ornate home into the peaceful woodsy nook far enough yet close enough to almost anything you may want to do. Generous hospitality at its finest was what they displayed when they heard I had a gluten sensitivity and I woke to warm gluten free pumpkin/coconut muffins!! I will be returning very soon and encourage anyone in the area not to pass up an opportunity to unplug at their hidden gem.

    Bridgett2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Tammy was super quick and helpful with communication before we arrived--she really looked around for specific things for us to do. The house and our room was all decked out for Halloween and the Christmas display was being unpacked, so I imagine the house will be quite something to see once the switch has happened. We enjoyed the bountiful continental breakfast outside on the back porch since it was such a beautiful morning. It was so peaceful. All we could hear was birds and the occasional acorn dropping. It was a great stay. Thanks Tammy and Tracy.

    Tom2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Tammy's place when we visited a local event, The Preston Haunt. The house was spooktacularly decorated for Halloween. The Cameo room was comfy and had nice amenities like a large jetted tub, private balcony, and wood burning free standing fire place. This place is a gem set in gold country. My husband and I plan to return someday and enjoy more amenities of the house.

  • Marlena was awesome. We were pretty late when we checked in and she was awake to receive us. She was very accommodating to our requests and we had a pleasant stay. All of my friends liked the house and we will definitely stay again if we are in and around the area. We recommend this place to everyone.

  • Me and my friends booked this house for a ski trip. It is very convenient, only 1 hour from Kirkwood Ski Resort. The house is very cute and cozy. The fire place really make this house warm and comfortable. All the beds bathrooms are clean. The owner are very nice and super quick response! I'm highly reccommend this place for a group stay especially for ski trip.

    Chaowat2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • I am a local and rented this place as a back up should the power go out during the storm. We had toddlers visiting and wanted to be sure we could keep them warm. Marlena responded quickly to questions while I was booking and made sure I knew she was available any time, should we needed to avail ourselves of the rental. So, we never actually stayed in the house, but it was definitely worth the price for peace of mind.

    Kristen2019-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • These people are just awesome! So helpful and accommodating. It was like a beautiful winter wonderland up there in Pine Grove. They helped us put chains on before we had to leave. So if your looking for snow and awesome hospitality, look no further.
