  • Leave those smart gadgets at home and relax in superb natural surroundings with the beautiful loch Awe gentle waves swilling on the beach a few yards away, sit in the beautiful authentic hot tub watching the beautiful clear night skies, very romantic location or family hub to go and explore!

  • We had a fabulous pre Christmas break at Lochside. The lodge was even better than I hoped. I had worried that we might be overdoing it with 6 plus a dog but it is deceptively spacious and very well equipped. I had no problem cooking a Christmas dinner here. The location is stunning and we spent many hours in the hot tub overlooking the loch even when it snowed on us! Well worth the 7 hours drive

  • Wonderful cabin right on the loch. The hot tub was fab and natural stone fire pit fantastic. The views from the upstairs bedroom were breath taking to wake up to every morning. Enjoyed every minute of our stay and cant wait to go back. Well worth the 9 hour journey from london! The locals were friendly, in the villiage shop/cafe and community bar. The food was great too. Not one single complaint! Could not have had a more peaceful fabulous holiday.

  • This is a very comfortable get away from it all log cabin. The setting is wonderful right on the side of wonderful Loch Awe with rolling hills backdrop. The hot tub is wonderful a true treat. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. the owner left thoughtful extras midge spray, tips on how to stop them attacking. shelve full of books and games. it was sparkling clean and we felt at home straight away. The road to it is long and narrow (not that it bothered us) but it is well worth it.

  • A fantastic stay in a beautiful setting in a cosy and we'll equipped lodge! The lodge is quite remote as the site is about half an hour along a single track road but there is a small village with post office and a bar about a ten minute walk away. The lodge was fantastic literally a stone's throw away from the loch and so peaceful and relaxing couldn't hear one bit of road or engine noise just perfect. The sky and WiFi worked great and I had full 4G signal whilst I was there too. The wildlife was great seen a multitude of things including seeing a white tailed eagle fishing in the distance and lots of small birds and ducks. The hot tub was amazing as was the wood burning stove! The sleep was comfortable and the sunrises were out of this world! Couldn't think of a better place to propose to my partner (now fiancée) and will definitely be return visitors!

  • Lovely location for a frosty starlit hot tub retreat. Beautiful loch, with morning mist lifting to slowly reveal the stunning views and a very engaging flock of ducks working the shoreline. When inside, we stayed toasty warm with the wood-stove. Very enjoyable weekend which we topped off with a coffee at the charming Dalavich Village Shop before heading home. Thanks Sonja and Steve!

We look forward to warmly welcoming you to The Byre, a lovely renovated and historic farm cottage nestled in the countryside near the west coast town of Oban. Immerse yourself in the experience of living like a local on this traditional highland farm, run by a Scottish family from one of the ancient highland clans. You have the entire use of the cosy cottage with its exposed roof timbers and original stone walls. Relax, unwind and soak up the beauty in this special, peaceful cottage.
A living space with a fully kitted out kitchen and dining table; a bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and sink; and two twin bedrooms are all yours to enjoy. Breakfast cereal, jam, marmalade, milk, tea, coffee and fresh farm eggs are provided for you to make your own breakfast. The cottage was once the old byre (barn) for the farm. Now fully renovated, underfloor heating and double glazing ensures you'll have a cosy stay any time of the year.
The cottage is only a short distance from the village of Taynuilt. The village has a pub, restaurant, post office, grocers, butcher, craft shop, hair dresser and tea room. There are lots of nice walks in the area, including directly from the cottage. You can go for a stroll along the edge of a sea loch, a wander through a forest or climb a mountain. There are several open gardens in the area worth a visit, as well as castles, the Cruachan hydro electric visitors centre and the Inverawe Smokery.
  • My daughter and I had had an incredible time af the byre. We helped take care of the animals, even saw baby lambs minutes after they were born. The house was cozy and the town was so beautiful.

    Kristin2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend a stay here enough! It was the last stop on a 2 week Scottish road trip and our favourite stop. Niall and Jim are fantastic people and we loved our opportunity to feed the sheep, goats, ducks and chickens. The Byre is cosy and warm - we only wish we could have stayed longer!

    Georgia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place for a countryside getaway! The Byre is everything you’d hope for and a little bit more. Set in a beautiful location, the cottage is spacious, spotlessly clean and full of welcoming touches such as books, biscuits and board games. Perfect for a holiday with our toddler who loved meeting the animals! We wouldn’t hesitate to return and hope to do so soon.

    Susan2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre is a cozy cottage full of all the mod cons needed to make your stay very comfortable. Spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, Niall has turned this once black house into a perfect holiday accomodation. The views of Ben Cruachan are tremendous as is the situation on the whole. Niall's father introduced us to the sheep, goats, hens and various ducks on the farm, which was a lovely experience. The Byre is a perfect spot if you enjoy 'The good life'. Highly recommended.

    Dave2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Niall's place. From the moment we arrived to feeding the sheep the next morning. We loved the stories about the house, the farm and the sheep. A beautiful place to stay, with beautiful people. We will be back!

    Emmeline2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the best places we have had the pleasure of staying in. The location is ideal for exploring the area and both Niall and his father have some wonderful tips for things to do. Upon arrival, the house was perfectly clean and very cosy and comfortably set up. There were lots of lovely homely touches - which we very much appreciated. The hospitality was superb, we loved learning about the history of the building and being able to experience part of the farm, by feeding the animals, just topped off an already brilliant time. We would whole heartedly recommend Niall's place to anyone, and we are very keen to return.

    Joni2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage. With lots of little touches that we wasn’t expecting. With great hosts. Would recommend this cottage as it’s located near lots of destinations to visit and the scenery is beautiful. If you decide to stay here. You must go and visit the farm animals and help feed them. As it’s a lovely experience. Specially if you have children. Also the farms sheep dog is very friendly and likes to fetch the stick.

    Fi2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

  • The hot tub was a bit of a faff but was amazing when it heated up! Does require lots of logs so make sure to request about 3 bags per day to cover the fireplace inside and using the hot tub all day. Beautiful area, Loch Awe was visible from the cabin and the space was huge. Kitchen was outstanding and there was all the cleaning equipment provided. loads of gorgeous walks around too with tyre swings and bbq’s! The best lodge I’ve ever visited in Scotland and really hope to be back!

  • My family and I had a wonderful time at fern lodge. It was cosy and had everything we needed for the weekend. Sonja was great when we spoke and nothing was too much trouble. We ate at the local cafe/shop for lunch and the food was amazing. I’d also read in the reviews about the black rock takeaway too so we tried that for dinner and we were not disappointed. The Loch is stunning, even the drive up is beautiful. We would def visit again.

Newly refurbished, Kilchurn is a delightful log cabin with a real log fire and a relaxing private wood-fired hot tub (now included), situated on the western shore of Loch Awe with a truly marvellous view over the water.
Kilchurn is a delightful log cabin situated on the western shore of Loch Awe with a truly magnificent view. The cabin is fully self-catering, no host is present other than the nearby caretaker and you have the place to yourselves. Recently modernised in a fantastic loch-side location, the interior comprises an open-plan living room/kitchen area offering a magnificent view of the loch with a covered balcony, two bedrooms and a shower room/toilet, accommodating 4 guests. The cabin is situated in the Dalavich Chalet Park with wide-open spaces between cabins, guaranteeing peace and quiet even during busy periods. The park is within the Inverliever Forest which offers wonderful country walks in the immediate vicinity, as well as access to fishing, cycling, sailing and of course the rich wildlife. This unique cabin is perfect for a young family or for couples to enjoy a relaxing holiday in a unforgettable location. Dalavich is central to the many and varied attractions in Argyll, such as The Avich Falls, Invarary Castle, Oban and its famous distillery. It also offers a convenience store for amenities and basic groceries, and a social club/bar which serves alcohol and hot meals, but please bear in mind that it is relatively remote, and if you require a more extensive range of amenities, you must drive 45 minutes to Oban. A car is highly recommended to stay here, but there are regular buses which run from Glasgow to Oban, and Oban to Dalavich.
Dalavich (Scottish Gaelic: Dail Abhaich) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It lies on the western bank of Loch Awe and has a population of around 70. (It is located 30 miles from the main town and port of Oban, connected by the villages of Kilchreanan and Taynuilt) "Dalavich" is Gaelic in origin and means "meadows/valley of the River Avich". The village was established by the Forestry Commission in 1952 to facilitate timber operations in the surrounding Inverliever forest. This was labour-intensive and horses were used to extract timber from the forest - it is possible to get a glimpse of this history by visiting the "old stables" which contain material from this epoch. Nowadays, a number of villagers still earn their living directly from forestry. Inverliever forest was acquired by HM Officer of Woods in 1907 and was one of the original "State Forests". In September 1919, the Forestry Act came into force, setting up the Forestry Commission and giving it responsibility for woods in England, Scotland and Wales. The basis of forestry policy in the 1920s was the need to rebuild and maintain a strategic timber reserve. As the surrounding area could not supply adequate labour, the forestry village at Dalavich was established. In 1971, Inverinan forest was added to Inverliever. There are forest walks and cycle routes maintained by the Forestry Commission nearby, and houses or cabins are available for tourists. Popular forest walks include the Dalavich Oakwood Trail (where red squirrel, pine marten, woodpeckers and many other woodland inhabitants may be seen), and the Avich Falls; there are many more nature trails, e.g. to Otter Point. There is a church, a small shop and cafe with a part-time Post Office. There is also a social club as part of the community centre, the village also hosted a primary school but this was closed in 1997 due to an insufficient number of pupils. In 1997 there was only 1 pupil. There is boat hire and fishing permits can be bought locally. Some of the largest trout caught in Europe have come from Loch Awe.

  • George’s place is a gorgeous get away with a hot tub and sauna. We loved the space, it was clean, well kept and George was also a fantastic host, keeping us informed about the weather (as we had travelled from 6 hours away). He is very quick at responding to queries and this alone made us feel welcome. We would definitely return to his cabin to spend longer there as we only had 2 nights.

  • Stayed for one night with my boyfriend and I couldn’t fault the place! Hosts were super helpful when we struggled to find the place - due to our own fault as we didn’t arrive till late so was hard to read signs! Caroline came out and guided us to our parking spot and gave us a quick tour. The Nook itself is super quirky and unique, loved it and the hot tub was great! Highly recommend:)

My place is close to great views, restaurants and dining, the beach, and family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the outdoors space. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
A unique cabin in elevated position with stunning views of Loch Awe and the mountains, an all year round electric hot tub located on decking accessed from the living area.
Cabin is situated close to the shores of Loch Awe and the site is bordered by Inverliever Forrest. The local pub with restaurant is a few minutes walk away with seasonal opening hours Wed to Sun (high season) and Fri to Sat (low season).
  • Cabin is lovely and clean. Much warmer than you'd expect inside. Has everything you need. Was very happy to see a table there that we didn't notice on the pics. Great location if you want to get away from it all. Dogs loved it too.

  • A lovely lodge in a beautiful setting. A couple of little bits that needed a bit of maintenance in the bathroom, but John was very responsive and did their best to fix in the three nights we were there... given the remote location. All in all, such a wonderful rest break in our travels. Hot tub was spotless and there was everything we needed to feel at home. Thank you!

  • Peaceful and perfect, just don't do what I did and forget your towels!

    Phoebe2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful view of the Loch and felt really private and secluded despite being close to other cabins. We spent almost all of our time outdoors enjoying the hot tub and camp fire barbecue and loved being able to go for a swim in the water. Decided against paying for WiFi and we really enjoyed being off grid for a few days and making the most of the incredible nature walks which were so close to the cabin. Very comfortable beds and nice and clean and tidy. Would definitely go back!

    Ailsa2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location, lovely clean cabin with everything you need - it's really been very well thought out. David organised a late check-in to accommodate our arrival times, and everything was set up beautifully. Views were incredible, hot tub wonderful, beds comfy and plenty to do if you love nature, history and the outdoors.

    Cathy2019-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, quaint little cabin right on the waterfront. The location is really away from it all, although if you visit in the winter you're in for quite a drive after dark on the single track roads! The scenery around is stunning with lots of walks and nature parks nearby. The kitchen in the cabin itself is well equipped and the hot tub is great to come back to and relax in the evenings. Thanks for a great stay!

    Marise2019-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • A simply furnished, cosy, warm and quiet cabin on the shore...just what the doctor ordered! The outdoor wood-fired hot tub experience is worth the effort and the wait (5hrs to heat up on first use but just 2hrs every time after). Extra logs need to be picked up from the housekeeper’s bungalow just a few minutes drive/walk from the site. The location is Awesome (sic) and the cabin has all of the kit you need to stay warm, fed and watered (microwave, oven, fridge, TV, toaster, kettle, plenty of crockery and utensils). Shower and WC were spotlessly clean and modern. Pop to Oban to stock up on supplies BEFORE you get there and then forget the rest of the world, you really can imagine being the only people on the planet. THIS London Boy will be returning again and again, next time with more pals to share the experience. Thank you David and to Irene (housekeeper) and her family.

  • This is an amazing place...the hot tub is so relaxing.

    Emma2018-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful time in Sloy Cabin. Everything was as expected and the hot tub warmed up ready for our arrival. We paid extra for this as described. The cabin itself was easy to find, however we are country bumpkins and are used to remote roads. The cabin had all the essentials in the kitchen and we needed for nothing in that regard. We brought 3 bags of logs of our own to use in the hot tub. We also stocked up for food on route. There was an abundance of wildlife and birds around the cabin. As well as deers we saw on the opposite side of the loch when driving. It was a truly relaxing break and for those that enjoy immersing themselves in nature will enjoy it here. There is a Takeaway called Black Rock which makes frozen Currys and other food. Highly recommended.

    Som2018-05-18T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is lovely; well equipped and cosy! There are other cabins nearby but it didn’t feel too close and it still felt very private and secluded.

Fyne is a delightful log cabin with a real log fire and a relaxing private wood-fired hot tub (now included), situated on the western shore of Loch Awe with a truly marvellous view over the water.
Fyne is a delightful log cabin located on top of the western shore of Loch Awe with a panoramic view over the water and beyond. The cabin is fully self-catering, no host is present other than the nearby caretaker and you have the place to yourselves. Recently modernised in a fantastic loch-side location, the interior comprises an open-plan living room/kitchen area offering a magnificent view of the loch with a generous balcony, two bedrooms and a large bathroom, accommodating up to 5 guests. This unique cabin is perfect for a young family or for couples to enjoy a relaxing holiday in an unforgettable location.
  • Fantastic place in a lovely and peaceful location. Cozy living room with fire, all the cooking equipment you need, comfy bed, Modern bathroom and easy to use hottub. Not one bad thing to say, it was excellent and I'll be back.

Open plan living space with log burning stove and fully equipped kitchen/diner. 2 private bedrooms and a single day bed (adult sized) in living area. Spacious, modern shower room/toilet. Fully refurbished 2017. Verandah overlooking the picturesque burn and fire pit. Great outdoor space. Logs for the wood burning stove can be purchased from the caretaker for £8 per large bag. Please remember to bring firefighters matches and newspaper or kindling.
Secluded countryside setting of great natural beauty. Wildlife abounds (Osprey, Eagles, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, a variety of Deer and birds) . Peaceful, tiny village of Dalavich is 10 minute's walk away and provides cafe/shop/post office/laundrette + free WiFi at the local bar and restaurant. The Lodge is set in a forest park of similar lodges, all set in their own, large grounds to ensure privacy. Add Burnside, in a half-acre of private woodland, is one of the largest. The area offers walks, waterfalls, cycle routes and places to visit (such as the Kilmartin standing stones and Ben Cruachan Visitor Centre). The loch has many islands, 5 with ruined castles (one of which lies opposite the boat hire jetty - Innes Chonnel, ancient stronghold of the Campbells). Located approximately 40 minutes from the west coast of Scotland where the port of Oban, known as the Gateway to the Isles, is situated. 1.7 miles north of Oban is Ganavan Sands for those who fancy a day out at the seaside.
  • Add Burnside Lodge was just perfect. A great size, beautifully furnished in a fantastic location. Cosy and comfortable, it was a brilliant escape from the city, with peace and quiet and enough to do nearby to keep you entertained if you wanted to go out wandering. Dalavich was a lovely wee village, and I'd recommend a day trip to Kilmartin, which is a 30 min drive away. Kay also provided really helpful maps and descriptions of nearby walking trails, with step by step instructions. I made great use of those, and they were greatly appreciated! Wee bit of advice to bring a hairdryer if you need one during your stay - otherwise the lodge was fully equipped, and the local village shop has all the basics if like me you forget to bring teabags! Will definitely be back!

  • We had a lovely stay at the cabin. The fire was amazing, as was the hot tub (a must have, it's the BEST). So much space indoors & outdoors which is fab. Kitchen has everything and more than what you'd need to cook up a good meal (we made a mini Christmas dinner). Irene was very friendly & helpful, and David is very quick with communication. Would definitely stay again.

  • It was very nice staying here! Perfect environment to enjoy the peace and nature. Slightly less as a base to visit other places in Scotland. Then you should certainly take into account travel time of 30 minutes to drive out of the beautiful area. We enjoyed a week stay here.

  • The town of Dalavich was the best thing ever... great pub where we met all the locals, the grocery had supplies and a cafe with excellent food. Rent a boat and go out to the castle and the Kintail Birds of Prey was AMAZING!!! Also went down to Kilmartin and saw the standing stones, and Temple Wood. Great place to explore. Cabin was fine for our group of 6 with the hot tub, yah!! Would like to have had a few chairs to use in the garden but we survived!! Say hi to the gang in Dalavich... go to the music night at the pub!

    Jasper2019-06-24T00:00:00Z

The scenery and wildlife of the Loch Awe area is simply outstanding; arguably the best the UK has to offer. Loch Aweside Forest Cabins site is located near Dalavich on the NW shore of stunning Loch Awe, approximately 30 minutes from the west coast of Scotland. It covers an area of nearly 60 acres with a selection of privately owned cabins distributed throughout, on large, well spaced & private forest, woodland and loch side plots. This magical, mythical area is steeped in history and offers amazing scenery and tranquillity with an abundance of walks, cycle routes and places to visit and explore. The wildlife in the area is amongst the most abundant in the UK, with Osprey, Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, Pine Marten, Red Squirrel, Red, Roe and Sika Deer and much more present. The loch itself, with its many islands, 5 castle ruins, cranogs and bays, is one of the prettiest, least spoiled in Scotland and offers legendary fishing (free of charge to cabin owners) and outstanding outdoor adventure. On site / village facilities include boat hire, bike hire, small shop / café, community centre, bar / restaurant and coin operated laundry.
  • Amazingly beautiful location. Well equipped cabin. Highly recommended.

  • Me and my friends has a fantastic stay at Sonjas cabin! So clean and cosy. Beds were so comfy and it’s situated in the perfect peaceful spot. Honestly had the best couple of days here. Sonja answered any questions I had before and after my stay also. Will definitely be booking up again

  • Lovely hidden cabin! Perfect for a short stay getaway. Hot tub was great after a day of hiking.

  • We travelled as a group of 4 - 2 couples staying for a long weekend. The cabin was nicely secluded and felt private without being out of touch from neighbours. The weather was awful but the hot tub and cosy cabin made up for it. Sonja was at the other end of a phone when required and always helpful in her responses. Thanks to Jane also for being prompt with more log deliveries and also Sonja for allowing us an extra hour in bed before we left on the last day!

  • Lovely secluded lodge for anyone looking for peace and quiet away from it all. Quirky and perfect for our family holiday. We had two young children with us and they loved being in the middle of the forest and the hot tub was an added excitement. We hired a boat one day and had a lovely time exploring the islands in the Loch. There is loads to do in the area including the hydroelectric mountain and Kilchurn castle. Would definitely recommend Black Rock curry take away and the Kilchrenan Inn for food.

  • As our 20th wedding anniversary was coming up, our son, who'd already been to one of Sonja's lodges and raved about it had suggested it would be a really nice setting etc to celebrate the occasion. We chose the Orky lodge, and spent 4 nights there over the May holiday. The view from the large patio door/window is to die for, the forest view and the small garden area is simply beautiful, even when it poured rain for 2 days it didn't take anything away from the beauty of both lodge and the view. The Orky lodge is a good size, and has the mod cons of home. The main bedroom is a good size too and has plenty of storage for clothes. The bed itself has to be one of the best i've slept in whilst away from home due to the high quality memory foam, even the single bunk style beds have the high quality expensive mattresses so no expense has been spared regards getting a good nights sleep. Great quality duvets too. The TV has a great picture and sound too with usb and hdmi at the side also, so you can take your Amazon Firestick or similar with you if you want to watch Netflix etc. The kitchen area has everything you need, I brought with me my coffee machine as i dont like jar coffee along with my own coffee pods. There is a microwave, toaster, decent cooker, kettle, small fridge, which was ideal just for the both of us, not much freezer room so dont buy loads of frozen food. There is loads of pots/pans, cooking trays, etc, everything really you could need for preparing meals. There is loads of storage in the living area also and plenty of seating. The lodge itself is clean and tidy, the toilet/shower etc was immaculate too and the shower is also very good and fast to warm up. There is a small shop nearby, it has a little cafe in it, and prices are really good too but I'd suggest bringing some foodstuff with you as it doesn't really have alot in it, we went to Oban and shopped in the Tesco supermarket, bring your own salt, and things like that, and dont forget to bring toilet tissue - there was some Teabags and sugar there when we arrived and about half a roll of toilet tissue, there is also plenty of bin bags and cleaning products too supplied. There is a place to park your car/s just outside the lodge, the lodge from the outside as you park is just as nice as the livingroom view. Got some really nice photos of the lodge too because its so rustic and quaint We fell in love with the lodge immediately and will be returning again in the near future. We were a bit sad to be leaving to return to the city as it was so relaxing and refreshing. There is even a little nature trail not far from the lodge too if anyone wants to go for a walk, where you can reach the loch.

  • What a hidden gem! Sonja’s log cabin is a wonderful escape. The location is perfect - in the middle of the forest. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and exploring the local area. Highly recommended!

  • Loved our stay at the cabin! Had everything we needed and more!the hot tub pre heated before we arrived and very spacious, easy to find and would definitely come back, the only thing being a problem was the amount of pet hair in the cabin (doesn’t stay about pets on listing) this was a problem as my friend has allergy’s. Apart from this I cannot falt the cabin atall! Great stay all in all

    Toni2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend break at the cabin before the Christmas madness kicked off. The area is so peaceful and scenic with Oban being about an hours drive away if you want to explore further. The cabin was spacious and clean and the hot tub is fantastic to sit in and chill.

The cabin itself is in a great location and has all the basic amenities you need for your stay. It is spacious and cosy and far exceeded our expectations. • David's house is in an incredible place. A beautiful forest away from civilization, a perfect place to relax and create. Although we didn't know him personally, Irene gave us the keys, which is very nice. The place is spacious, comfortable, clean and very quiet. It is easy to feel in nature here. Just note that if you want fresh fruit or vegetables you need to go to Oban, an hour, so it is recommended to buy it before. We spent 4 great days. /////// David's house is in an amazing place. • Lovely cabin on a nice quiet site. Due to the weather we didn't explore very much around Loch Awe but will do in the future as it is a truly beautiful spot. The cabin was a great place to explore further afield, we visited Glen Nevis, Glencoe, Fort William and we loved getting the ferry from Oban to Mull. The cabin was well equipped. Loved the log burner which warmed the cabin up quickly. Hot tub was great but took quite a while to warm up. Nice hot powerful shower. Comfy bed. Looking forward to returning to explore this amazing part of Scotland.

Skye Lodge is a log cabin situated in the village of Dalavich on the shores of Loch Awe, Argyll. The cabin was completed in 2016 and is set in its own grounds as part of Dalavich Chalet Park. Finished to a high standard internally, the cabin is very well appointed with quality fittings and fixtures.
The open plan living space has a log burning stove and there is an efficient air-source heat exchanger keeping the cabin toasty all year round. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 on the ground floor and one upstairs with an ensuite shower room. Downstairs there is a further large shower room, a double bedroom and a room with 2 single beds. The cabin comfortably sleeps 6 and there is a sofa bed in the main living area which can sleep a further 2 people. The kitchen is well appointed with double electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine and American style fridge-freezer. There is freesat TV, unlimited broadband wi-fi, Bang and Olufsen sound system and Bose portable speaker although the area is very peaceful so we would ask that you respect our neighbours and keep volume low. There is a wood fired hot tub just off the decking area which you are very welcome to use.
It’s not really close to anything – that's the beauty of it! Pine martens, red squirrels and deer are to be found in the vicinity.
  • Just wow! Such a beautiful location with breathtaking scenery. We all had a great time. Highly recommend Dalavich for New Year - locals make you feel so welcome. Thank you for a very memorable break :-).

  • Alan's place is just beautiful, everything is up to high standard. We had a very nice time, and would definitely be back. We enjoyed evenings by fire place and restful nights in comfortable beds. We found everything we want left in the cabin, there was even a milk frothing device to make our lattes. When we had a question Alan responded instantly. Great place andgreat host.

The host could not have been more helpful and friendly, he was more than happy to help us work out a mishap with our booking! I would highly recommend staying in the Skye Lodge :)

  • Our second visit to the gorgeous village of Dalavich and this cabin was just the icing on top! Alan was always available for any queries or issues. And the finishes on the cabin were top notch. Everyone loved the place and have said they couldn't wait to go back.

    Simon2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great pleasure to be Alan's guests during our holidays. We were very pleased to be so warmly welcome in such a wonderful home. Everything was great !.... the different equipment’s provided, the environment, the small attention for our arrival… The kids enjoyed the “hot tub” in the garden, facing the lake. We had the opportunity to rent a small boat and to make some small “cruises” on the lake. The house facilities were also optimal and it was very easy to relax, facing the landscape and the mountains. Thank for all !

It's a wooden house in the woods overlooking a loch , what's not to like ? considering it's remoteness and the tiny size of Dalavich village, it is unique in that it has a shop , café , bar and post office nearby. Come here for a very relaxing stay with incredible views and who knows ridiculously cute red squirrel nutkin might even check you out through the window.
The place has a dishwasher. It can sleep 6 people , the dining table can sit 6 people , it has 4 standard chairs , two more chairs are available in the property. A three person sofa which is great to lay on fully stretched as you watch the tube or listen to music , anyway there are beanbags galore , a VERY good stereo and unbelievably cute red squirrels to feed nuts to, otherwise there's green grass, trees and a 4 mile stretch of mountain view across the water where you can only see 2 houses if you look very diligently . Be aware that firewood has to be sourced by yourself, make sure it is seasoned , you can get it from D.IY places . Water in many remote communities comes from mountain rivers , it is chlorine treated and it may have the merest tint of mountain minerals . I find it tastes quite beautiful . Oh, if there's a full moon out , seeing it shine across the loch is an experience in itself . Be aware that very short bookings of 1 day are subject to paying a proportion of my £55 changeover fee .
  • Amazing location, amazing house. Such a unique experience

  • Host was attentive before our stay so had all info we needed. After a fishing trip on the loch was a great location to stay. Had such a lovely cosy night with log fire despite a bit of a storm outside and was amazing to wake up to views over the loch. Hope to be back for another stay soon.

    Hugh2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing 2 days at the Bubble cabin, very cozy and warm place to stay with a fantastic views and wooden surrenders. In the house there are all the facilities needed including board games for night time. Midges supplies were even available and really needed. The restaurant/bar just beside it fed us with great food the night we arrived and one of the neighbours supplies the fire wood, so everything was perfect. To wake up in the cabin and walk to the loch in front of the back garden with a cup of tea was something marvellous. We would of love to stay there forever :)

Spacious apartment in a beautiful village by the side of Loch Awe. The large kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, gas cooker and oven, washing machine and tumble dryer, microwave, kettle, toaster and all plates, pans etc. One double bedroom, and a large living room that includes one double and one single sofa bed, a table, and a TV. Beautiful bathroom with hand carved wooden bath panels and shelves. Gorgeous views of the garden and the Loch beyond, and alpacas grazing in the field.
This beautiful apartment has views out to Loch Awe and is within easy walking distance of all amenities. The locals are friendly, so take the time to have a coffee and a chat in the cafe or a drink in the Social Club. Breakfast and lunch are on offer in the cafe, and an evening meal can be enjoyed at the Loch View restaurant (in season). Friday night at the club is music night, so why not bring an instrument and join in!
The village is small and friendly, with a village shop, post office, and licensed cafe. There is also a community run social club which includes a bar and restaurant, and a laundry. The surrounding oak woodland trails can be explored on foot or by bike. Small motor boats can also be hired for trips out on the Loch, including visiting an ancient ruined castle on an island that dates from the 11th century or earlier.
  • Great location and great accommodation. We didn’t need to ask for anything as it was all provided.

  • Amazing value for money!!! There’s nothing more you could want if you’re chasing a quiet place to either relax, self cater and unwind amongst nature or base yourself for a couple of Munro’s (within 45mi a drive) or great walks nearby. Chrissie & Mark are awesome hosts - thanks both!

    Michael2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, friendly hosts and spotlessly clean

  • Great place to get away from it all. Some beautiful walks right on the dootstep

    Geoff2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Chrissie has included almost everything you might need. The place is isolated but we loved that. There is a takeaway curry place (The Black Rock Curry) down the road so we picked-up our meal on our way back from a days touristing. I can suggest a visit to Crinan Canal - get there before the coffee shop closes at 4pm. Also, Kilmartin has some standing stone in the middle of a grazing paddock. We did the 3 islands tour from Oban. The highlight was the amazing Fingal's Cave. But the best thing you can do is speak with Chrissie and Mark. They will help you find some great spots to visit. The place is warm and comfortable with plenty of space to use it as a base to explore the area. We would come back, and recommend this place to friends, and that's about the best compliment anyone can give.

    Rob2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accommodation in the heart of the community with home from home facilities provided. Chrissie has thought of all those little things we forget. Lovely hostess. Great walks with waterfalls within the local area. Local amenities and social club, all within walking distance. Great locals who make you feel very welcome. Loch Awe and this location is certainly a hidden gem. We will definitely be back.

Skerry cabin is a newly extended and refurbished log cabin in the woods. It is beautifully yet simply decorated and has all the mod cons you will need. A log burning stove makes it toasty warm and a real delight to spend time in.
A two bedroom cabin that’s ideal for single travellers, couples or families of up to 5 people. There are 2 bedrooms, the first is a double with an en-suite toilet and wash basin. The second bedroom has a double bed with a single bunk over it accessed by a ladder. This is great for kids and adults alike. There is a satellite TV with a DVD player and chromecast so you can stay entertained if the weather isn’t kind. We also have a Bose portable bluetooth music player and the cabin has unlimited broadband via wi-fi. The cabin is nestled in the woods surrounded by some other cabins and frequented by the resident red squirrels. If you are vigilant you might spot pine martens or otters in the nearby burn.
  • Beautiful cosy and spotlessly clean cabin that we booked for a night away with friends. Peaceful location with wood burning stove and everything you need on site. Quirky accommodation perfect for when you need to get away from it all.

    Greg2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully refurbished cabin in a lovely forest setting. While quite remote, the village offers good basic facilities and the locals we spoke to where incredibly helpful and friendly. We particularly enjoyed that you can access a number of walks directly from the cabin. Alan was very friendly in his communication and super quick in replying to any questions. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.

    Susanne2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin, that is extremely cosy and well laid out. We went as a group of four adults and had plenty of space. Beautiful location on Loch Awe, and Alan provided excellent directions and local information, and was available for contact if we needed anything. Great location for exploring the area, we would recommended the Kilchrenan Inn, about 20 minutes up the road for fantastic food (the local Loch View Grill was not open when we stayed as it was out of season).

  • We had such a lovely stay. The cabin was lovely, the photos don’t do it justice. It has a great position near the waterfall which was such a calming sound to fall asleep to! The cabin is warm and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals. Stunning scenery. A little piece of heaven.

    Rosie2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • First of all WOW!!! What a place. Perfect for getting away from our busy life. I am 24 weeks pregnant and it was lovely to get away from home to relax. We went on walks which were very scenic the dog loved it!!! The log fire in the cabin on an evening was ideal and was easy to get more wood from the keyholder at £8 a bag which lasted to be fair. I am so happy with the trip i cannot wait to book it again for when the baby arrives. I just want to thank penny for her fast responses to my questions prior to the trip. It was perfect!!!!

Well equipped new kitchen with breakfast bar and integrated kitchen appliances, new bathroom with power shower over the bath , light and airy bedrooms especially the master bedroom which looks out over the loch, the large living room has a dual aspect with fabulous views of the loch and mountains. There is a raised decking area with bbq and outdoor furniture also overlooking the loch .
  • Fantastic hosts in a fantastic location. This is definitely a home from home. The little touches are superb... firewood, Scottish shortbread and the heating on for our arrival. If you want to get away from the buzz of the city and be at one with nature this is the place. It was wonderful to hear the birds and watch the sunrise and sunset in this stunning location. It was lovely to see the bats at dusk and the birds from the kitchen window. Sitting on the veranda with a coffee overlooking the loch was magical. Best few days away to give the dogs a break from the fireworks.

  • Fantastic place, very quiet location in a valley on a loch. When we were there it was lambing time at the farm. Lots of sweet shaun the sheep sheep! There were also calves who just quietly drank their milk with their mother in front of your car. Really great to experience! Huisje is beautifully situated overlooking the loch. The kitchen has everything you need. You will be in Oban within half an hour. In addition to all your trips, also plan a 'home' day - it's so beautiful there!

    Marcella2019-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • For those looking for peace, it is an ideal place. A beautiful about 3 km long lake, surrounded by mountains, sheep and cows. Oban is 20 minutes away with everything you need. We were lucky, the loud little Easter lambs were born.

    Thomas2019-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic holiday here, the location is amazing, beautiful and very peaceful. Our children aged 9 and 11 had lots of fun exploring and meeting the horses. There are some great walks from the farm, and it's close to Oban which has a lovely beach (Ganavan), lots of shops and cafes. It was hard to drag ourselves away from the farm though, I hope we can come back soon.

And the views from the dining room and the back garden has stunning views over the Loch and mountains. The sunrise in the morning is unbelievable over the mountains and Loch. The back garden is also very nice. Well maintained with plenty of places to sit out including metal gazebo with midgynets and outside decorative lighting. George was very helpful in trying to arrange a boat for us and quick and responding. The local curry place which you can't miss on the way in is a must. Was beautiful. The club house is perfect for a drink with a great games room for the kids which they loved and also has a park. You'll love this place and we will definitely be visiting George's place again

Maida's cottage is situated on the edge of the village of Ford, close to Loch Ederline. There is a private driveway to the cottage with a farm gate to keep the sheep on the hill. There is ample parking and a gated/fenced private garden. Although on the edge of the village, Maida's cottage feels remote with a rather stunning backdrop. There are many hills to walk. There is no TV or WiFi, this is a cosy getaway from hectic lives so sit back and enjoy the log fire with a good book.
Within Maida's cottage you will find an entrance porch, somewhere to place your walking boots and coats. Kitchen with fridge, oven and microwave. The sitting room has a log burner, logs will be provided for your stay. There is a double bed in the bedroom with a chest of drawers for your clothes. There is a shower, sink and loo with soap provided.
  • An amazing area to explore the landscapes and monuments of our ancestors and the cottage is ideally located for that. It's very clean with plenty of firewood, a comfy bed and a fabulous shower! Not to mention plenty of windows to view the weather on the surrounding hills and the stream rushing by outside. The digital detox was very relaxing; everything you need for a proper getaway feeling. Thank you 😊

  • We are a family of two adults and two children (6 and 4) and we all had a smashing time staying here. Be prepared for the remoteness of the location by doing a big shop on the way, and for the elements, and you'll find there is plenty to do, lots of nature to see and stunning local walks. We hired a boat and pootled out onto the Loch to an abandoned, overgrown cemetery and a dilapidated castle on nearby islands and this was just magical. The Loch Avich Falls are also not far away and these are spectacular. The cabin itself is spacious enough and cosy, with a really well-equipped galley kitchen and wifi. There's no washing machine but there is one nearby in the community centre. It is a really beautiful part of the world and staying here is a great way to experience it. This was a trouble-free and happy stay.

  • Very homely cabin in a gorgeous part of Scotland. Lots of lovely walks and really gorgeous scenery. Cabin comfortably lives six people, and many details/utensils provided(plenty blankets, cushions, nice bedding and comfortable pillows - all kitchen utilities expected and more!) We were all very impressed and kept cosy with the log fire on. Cabin located near the site entrance and a 3 minute walk to the site pub which was warm, and full of friendly residents. I would tell people to be aware that the hot tub takes a lot of effort (and logs £) to heat - it was very cold in November when we visited and water took 6-7 hours to heat! Other than that we would absolutely recommend this cabin, great value for your money!

  • Log cabin has everythin you would require and is exceptionally decorated. It is very quirky and every detail thought about from Bluetooth speaker to WiFi. Very comfortable and cosy especially when the log fire is on. Amazing value.

  • We had a wonderful family holiday at this beautiful cabin close to the shores of Loch Awe. It’s a very secluded spot, perfect for a get-away from everyday life amongst the trees and nature, and it didn’t disappoint. The cabin has all the amenities you need, very cosy at night with the log-burner and brilliant in fair weather on the veranda and in the hot-tub. We had a great stay and would love to come back!

  • My wife and l had a wonderful stay. The cabin is clean and spacious and the setting fantastic. The cabin sits in communal grounds with other wooden cabins to create a little self contained community by the Loch. Some are privately owned residences so you feel part of the community and not part of some kind of holiday complex. There's are really well stocked shop/cafe that serves the community. Lots of vegan options in cafe too.The only thing the shop lacked was fresh fruit and veg so make sure you bring all that you need. All in all a beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting and the folk we met were welcoming and friendly . We highly recommend it.

  • Really nice location in this small and quiet place of Dalavich. The house is nice, convenient and with a great view. Ariana who was our local contact is adorable. Dalavich place is unique with its small shop, and social club. I will recommend it to friends or family without hesitation.

  • The cottage is situated in a beautiful location, clean, well-kept, and perfect for 6 people. The kitchen is very well equipped, the rooms are cozy and electric radiators as well as a fridge-heating climate control ensure that no cold nights are cold. We had a great time here all week.

  • A lovely, modern, well-appointed cabin in a brilliant rural location. A perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the many beautiful walks, outdoor activities and stunning scenery that Argyll and Bute has to offer. Would love to visit again.

  • Fabulous cabin in a fabulous spot. Photos do not do justice - loch view with deck and plenty parking space, 2 bathrooms, air con and log fire (winter / summer temperatures catered for). Full kitchen facilities, plenty crockery etc. Bit of a wind no drive to get here but oh so worth it. The local walks are breathtaking. Do take insect repellant - as the temperatures drop a little out comes a ‘midge soup’ which, if like me you get eaten alive, can be very distracting. Local shop sells a fab homemade concoction to spray on which did work! Ospreys were spotted, House Martens were in residence, Field Fares running amock - living with nature for a few days really helps you ‘switch off’. Will definitely be back.

  • We had an amazing and relaxing stay at the cabin! The remote location and the beautiful windows make star gazing from the comfort of the couch next to the fire an ideal place to be! The cabin was simply amazing and Irene was more than accommodating during check-in and when we needed a bit more fire wood. Thank you for sharing your cabin and we hope to return again some day!

  • A fantastic lodge in a very good location. Fantastic wood burner for those cold nights and plenty of heaters etc as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was made all the better by being allowed to bring our dog. The communication from David was excellent as well couldn’t fault our stay at all. Would definitely book again.

  • Amazing cabin, had a great time!

    Matthias2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to hideaway and get some work done. Not quite as secluded as some of the other cabins on the estate, but very pleasant nonetheless. The wood-burning stove an essential and delightful feature (sacks of logs available from the hosts for a small additional cost). Excellent communication with the host throughout the stay including check-in. Nice forest and loch-side walks. Beautiful landscape. Whilst there is a very handy village shop nearby and a handful of small grocery stores en-route, I'd advise pre-buying groceries before leaving a significant conurbation such as Edinburgh or Glasgow, depending on where you're coming from. Good Vodafone signal at the cabin (though 3g data was - presumably - disabled by a recent storm when I stayed). Would certainly recommend.

  • The cabin was gorgeous and so cosy and warm, making it perfect for bonding since it rained during our stay. The loch is breathtaking which meant we spent hours taking pictures in the cold, but it's well worth it. A great stay, looking forward to booking again :)
