'Absolutely exceptional, stylish, superbly located, quiet. Best Airbnb I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit' (guest review). Secluded, tranquil, fully self-contained, modern & comfortable, Escape is an award winning, creative, studio-style couples retreat nestled in native bush. Spa, cosy wood-fire, tree-surrounded deck, fully appointed kitchen, with a backdrop of the spectacular Grampians. 'The best of the best' (guest review). Please contact us regarding any stays of 7+ days.
Yes, we are secluded we have a double block nestled amid the trees giving it a very private feel. Please read our guest reviews - better to hear what they say than have us talk too much ourselves. But suffice to say, our reviews are a delight to us and out of respect for guests, we keep our prices competitive. About the house: it is modern and quite luxurious, with many more personal creative touches. There is cast iron wood fireplace, a well stocked woodshed, a deluxe luxury spa bath for two, a split system aircon / heater, a raised balcony amid the trees which is one of my personal favourite elements of the house, views of the trees out of every window, a coffee / expresso / latte / cappuccino machine so you can have a decent coffee 'at home' without having to go out and buy one, a fully appointed kitchen with 4 burner electric stove, microwave, kettle BBQ, toastie maker, toaster, kettle, fridge and freezer and a full array of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils, and a complimentary decent 'thanks for staying with us' bottle of wine on arrival. Native wild and bird life abounds - kangaroos, an occasional emu or wallaby, cockatoos, kookaburras, rosellas, all frequent the property and I have planted a number of trees amid the native gums (banksias, grevillias, blossoming gums) which, when they grow, will attract a host of the smaller native birds. The property is secluded and the house is set in the middle of one of the few remaining double bush blocks in the area. Escape enjoys its own driveway and parking area and very much does feel like an 'Escape'. Please contact us regarding any of the following * discounts for stays of 7 days or more. * one night stays. * staying with infants * staying with pets.
A Heavenly Escape enjoys the peace and privacy - as well as the wildlife - of a native bush-land block. Yet the house is only a 1.5km wander to the centre of beautiful and vibrant Halls Gap and its cafes and restaurants.
  • Tim’s place was great. I especially liked the beautiful artwork on the walls and real (not plastic!) plants throughout. The space was larger than I expected. Communication with the host was excellent. I was surprised at how much wildlife we saw at the Grampians, even just around the town at Halls Gap. It is really a beautiful part of Australia. Thanks Tim!

    Stephanie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic. Highly recommend. The house was private and very relaxing. Very clean. Nestled among the trees with an abundance of wildlife. Great for a romantic weekend. Easily in walking distance to the Main Street/shops.

  • We spent a wonderful long weekend in 'a heavenly escape'. This house is truly a hidden gem. It feels like living in the forest with awesome views out of large panorama windows and a beautiful wooden deck to share with wildlife. Everything was perfectly arranged with a very personal touch from the host. We didn't miss a thing. The house is situated close to Halls Gap and the many attractions of the Grampians. We can highly recommend Tim as a host and this beautiful escape.

    Andrea2020-03-02T00:00:00Z

  • What a beautiful little cottage! It had everything we needed, including a full kitchen which we enjoyed cooking in. Pauline met us on arrival and was very welcoming. I'd definitely recommend this place as a lovely quiet spot to stay.

  • Lovely quiet clean cabin

    Kath2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in cabin 2 was the perfect stop for the night on our way to Adelaide from Melbourne. The photos don’t do the cottages justice, I was impressed when we arrived with how lovely they were. The property is very big and Pauline allowed us to have our puppy stay in the cottage which meant she could have a good run around. We had great communication with Pauline as well. While it’s located on the highway it’s a long drive way in so we could not hear a thing!

Beautifully designed accommodation especially for couples. The Blue Wren Lodge has been a favourite for couples for years and we are the proud new owners. The Lodge has also it's very own BBQ hut. The Lodge is fully self contained with access to many condiments.
The Blue Wren Lodge is situated only 300 meters from the centre of Halls Gap. The Lodge is set back from the road for complete privacy and relaxation. Wildlife is on your door step. The Kingfisher Lodge is situated on the same property but far away enough for complete privacy!!
  • We absolutely loved our stay at the Blue Wren Cottage. It was a gorgeous cottage, well appointed and very clean. Loved the spa and the bed was so comfy! So much wildlife around and a very short walk to the shops and cafes. It was the perfect spot for us!

Large lounge , very well kept flower garden makes this a nice place to stay. It away from the main road , so no noise to bother you. ** Please note - the caravan has a shower, but toilet is seperate (like at a caravan park, the toilet is in its own bulding and shared with others). The caravan is located at the back of Neds Other Beds, a small hostel. It’s only 500m from Halls Gap Main Street, 1.5km from the local pub (a very good walking track makes the pub easily accessible), and 200m from the Grampians NP turn off. The van is semi self contained, with a queen bed, recliner sofa, tv, private shower (no toilet).
The caravan is semi self-contained, with a queen size bed and recliner two-seat sofa, in front of a flat screen tv. The tv plays DVD’s and has chrome cast, it does not have very good channel reception. The small kitchen is well equipped with: -free Wi-Fi -bar fridge, -microwave, -toaster, -kettle, -microwave veggie steamer -microwave rice cooker -gas stove, -pots, pans, cutlery, plates, mugs, wine glasses - everything you might need! And best of all there is a small dishwasher to stack your dishes into. The caravan has a private shower within, but no toilet. Guests will have access to a shared bathroom which is about a 15m walk away. The property has a camp fire area and a bbq which are also a shared space with the hostel guests.
The Caravan is located a short drive from the Grampians National Park, and right next door there is a large oval where kangaroos come every day.
  • It was overall an exciting experience. Linda was very helpful when we had trouble with the door lock and other enquiries. Her dog was especially also very huge and friendly too.

  • Great short term accommodation! Everything is neat and comfortable. Everything is quite new in appearance. It was very comfortable to spend time there. The toilet is outside, the shower is inside. We liked waking up in the van, everyone should try this. There was a table on the street where we had a wonderful breakfast. There is a dishwasher and washing machine.

    Dmitry2020-02-25T00:00:00Z

The “wildlife neighbors” are many varied and amusing to observe. Having a wine and being serenaded by the cacophonous rapture of all the birds is an absolute pleasure.

  • The house is beautiful and very tastefully decorated. It is very well located for the walks and hikes in the Grampians. Thank you Fiona and Pete

    Warwick2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic house in quiet location, great birdlife around you. Excellent bed, kitchen and bathroom. Must be the best place in Halls Gap. Highly recommended. If you want WiFi it is available at the visitor info centre.

    John2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Fiona and Pete’s holiday home was an all around spectacular experience. Fiona is extremely easy to communicate with. The house is pristine and has absolutely everything you could possibly need, I couldn’t have asked for more! I especially loved spending hours listening to the CD collection provided (great taste in music and a good mixture of musical snacks for all), the attention to detail when it comes to interior design and decor is extremely impressive. I could go on and on and on but believe me, you just have to stay here to experience everything for yourself! This home will not disappoint and Fiona is a stellar host!

    Sophie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place to stay in Halls Gap. The property was perfect for our needs, spotlessly clean and ideally situated close to town and all amenities. Fiona was very helpful and checkin was seamless. Would highly recommend and stay again without question.

    Nick2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • First time to the Grampians and spent 2 nights at Pete and Fiona's lovely home. It was beautifully decorated and has everything you need (and more) for a comfortable stay. We also found many thoughtful touches such as the box of Favourites and bottle of bubbly gifted from our host. Fiona was very friendly and provided us with clear instructions on directions and gave great recommendations on local eateries and attractions. We tried the Indian restaurant (10-15 mins down the road) and really enjoyed it. The location of the home is close to all the amazing hikes and lookouts - we could even see it from the Pinnacle lookout! We will definitely stay at the Grampians Hillside Retreat when we visit next and would 10/10 recommend it to anyone planning to visit the area.

    Lucy2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely recommend this place if you’re staying in Halls Gap. The place is by far one of the best AirBnBs we have stayed in. Clean, stylish, thoughtful touches, roos in the garden, helpful information from hosts...we could go on.

  • Jenny’s place is an eclectic wonderland and full of surprises. A great place for a family to explore. Our dog loved it too - long walks and kangaroos everywhere. The cabin was clean, with a well equipped kitchen. Take your own food supplies and cook or BBQ.

  • My family and I booked this accommodation because it was on the way to our trip. We were fascinated by the place, each cottage with a theme, a small village rebuilt, among a thousand memories. Cute owners. You are in the middle of nowhere, this is Australia, which I imagined. Thanks and hope to return someday.

    Mariangela2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • The most amazing place in Australia!Highly recomended

    Michaela2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This property exceeded our expectations. I needed to stay in the area for work and thought this place looked quirky and funny and worth a try, but wasn’t really expecting the ammenities to be anything more than mediocre. I’m happy to say I was wrong. The cabin had so many cool antiques and oddities to look at, but most importantly was INCREDIBLY clean and very comfortable to stay in. We loved exploring the grounds in the evening and looking at the amazing collection of things that have been put on display. We even saw some kangaroos up close and personal, which my toddler loved. Check in and out was easy, and having a kitchen available made life a lot easier. It’s clear a lot of thought has been put into this property, not just the fun theming, but down to the placing of the windows - when walking around I noted nobody can look into another cabins bedroom, which is something that I’ve seen overlooked in many other places! Overall just a great experience and we will be back in the future!

  • Old Dadswell Town is a really good place to stay. The bungalows are great, clean, comfy and all have a village theme, which makes them quirky and funny. A place to take your camera. Good spot to get to the Grampians, the silos and the little desert too. Thank you Jenny, we'll be back!

WHY WE LOVE THIS PROPERTY SO (URL HIDDEN) personal fav things about this property other than the great spa bath & cosy gas log heater is laying in the big king bed in the morning with a cup of tea looking out into the treetops & watching the cockatoos fly up the valley & the sunrise over Mt William (URL HIDDEN) magic! Louise Ross' favourite past time is riding up Mt William at 6am & watching the sunrise over the horizon from the top of the mountain. Our girls love the space, wildlife & making bush cubbies! TESTAMONIAL - JAN Yes, we really enjoyed our wonderful quite stay at The Escarpment. Perfect position, plenty of wildlife and walking distance to Halls Gap village. The accommodation was great, it had everything we needed. (I also liked wooden floor!!!). We have already recommended The Escarpment to our friends. Thank you, Ekaterina "With UK visitors we stayed at THE ESCARPMENT for two nights. A mistake. It should have been two weeks! THE ESCARPMENT is in a handy position in Halls Gap and is beautifully furnished with everything you could desire on a holiday. We have stayed in Halls Gap a number of times over the years (usually with overseas friends or relations) and have had "satisfactory" accommodation. However, in future,THE ESCARPMENT will be the only accommodation we will consider. We will return! Dorothy and Brian Robertson January Many THANKS for our wonderful stay at The Escarpment! We had a fantastic weekend, it was just what we needed...! The house was perfect, well facilitated & clean, the beds were comfy, the spa was awesome and the surroundings were amazing, the peace and quiet was divine! Thank for making our stay one to remember. Thank You very much again for the stay and we look forward to next time we come back, certainly we have told our friends and they have said they will definately visit The Escarpment...! We will definately be back..!!! Kristen January "We stayed at The Escarpment during the weekend of the Hall's Gap Jazz Festival where our band was playing. It's a beautiful house with beautiful surroundings. It is so serene sitting on the deck out the back eating breakfast or lunch and watching kangaroos hop past. We'll definitely be back (in fact, this is our second year staying at The Escarpment!)." Cheers, Sam *Valid on base rate for stays to August 30th, 2020 excluding festivals, long weekends & school holidays. * Occasionally we allow pets stay but I like to ask some question first for the comfort of your pet and the neighbours. No matter how tidy your pet is we also find there is little extra cleaning required so we also charge a small pet stay fee of $50.

  • The house has amazing, comfortable beds, a great spa bath and a good sized kitchen. There was ample laundry powder as well as left over dry provisions in the kitchen from other guests, such as sugar, salt, pepper, oil, rice etc. The birdbath outside the kitchen window was a source of enjoyment for us, watching many different bird species taking their bath. It was very quiet and can highly recommend enjoying your morning coffee in bed with views of the mountains and treetops. Would definitely stay here again!

  • The house is in a great location, some kilometers from Halls Gap commercial part, but right in the middle of nature. A typical Australian bird was having water in the backyard and was a nice experience in general. Everything was easy with self check in and we actually didn't need much during our 2 nights stay.

    Romulo2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. 20 minute walk to halls gap information centre. Can sometimes see wallabies visit the area nearby.

    Jo2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant house in a natural environment a little away from the village. Calm assured We see a lot of bird species there. Cockatoo and red parrots came to visit us on the balcony.

  • A very special place and close to everything you need.

    Karly2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 (incl. 1 child + 1 infant) loved the house. It is located near town centre (2km), yet relatively secluded / nestled in the nature. We saw kangaroos in the backyard (even a fox, seemingly). The house is very comfortable, well-organised and has everything you need to enjoy a good stay!

  • The property is lovely and cosy, great for nature lovers.

Stonevilla is located close to parks, restaurants, dining, art, culture, shopping and the beautiful Grampians Nation Park. The house has high ceilings in the living area along with floor to ceiling windows which provides great views of the Grampians and the local wildlife such as the kangaroos, emus, birds and koala bears. Situated at the foot of the Grampians, the house has a semi rural feel yet only just over 2 kilometres or a 20 minute walk via the walking track into Halls Gap.
The north facing windows in the kitchen, dining and living area's are floor to ceiling which give an amazing view of the bushlands and local wildlife.
While there are other houses around us, they are not jam packed like some other area's giving Stonevilla a semi rural feel and a bit more privacy.
  • We loved our stay at Stonevilla ! Very clean, great for our little family (we supplied our own portacot) but there was a highchair available, in a great location. We had lovely kangaroo and other wildlife visitors on the daily and fell in love with the big bath tub.

    Hannah2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at the Stonevilla. The house is very spacious, wirh plenty of space to sit, relax and watch the kangaroos jump past. Everything was very clean and the walk into Halls Gap lovely. We would have loved to stay longer!

  • Great location, and a really thoughtful place. Every detail of this homey stay ensured you got the best out of the beautiful surroundings - from the tall windows, surrounding deck, and even the option of an open bathroom to peep outside or watch the telly from the deliciously big bath. Has everything you need to make it a home away from home.

Newly designed space Open living with a large kitchen leading onto a large decking area...... appealing outdoor living space with stunning views of Grampians. Within two minutes walk to Halls Gap Hotel!
The expansive and serene grounds feature many native plants and grass, making it common to see kangaroos and many other Australian birds and wildlife in your own backyard. Squirrel Use In principle Your stove has two air supplies: Primary air is controlled by the upper air controller of the door. The air eventually washes at high speed down the back face of the door glass. This super-heated air helps with the combustion of volatile gases produced by the fire. Secondary air is supplied to the top of the fire through two rows of holes in the steel baffle. This effectively burns off other residual gases, making for very clean emissions. This air supply is constant and cannot be varied. The lower air controller on the door is fixed, and only for decoration purposes. 2.2 Lighting and loading intervals When first lighting the stove, a large volume of air is needed. When the stove is cold, you should leave the door open an inch or two for the first few minutes and open the primary air supply completely. While the door is open, do not leave the stove unattended. To form a reasonable bed of ash on the floor of the stove, you should use 2-3 eco logs at the initial lighting. Always maintain a 1-1,5 inch (2-3 cm) layer of ash on the floor of the combustion chamber at all other times. Step-by-step procedure 1. The air supply must be fully open. Maximum 4 turns. 2. Light the fire. An ember bed will quickly be formed by lighting with firelighters and eco logs. 3. After lighting, partially close the door, leaving it open an inch or two to allow in plenty of combustion air. 4. When the chimney is warmed through after 5-10 minutes, the door should be closed. A suitable ember bed will be formed after a further 15-20 minutes. 5. When ready to reload, use a poker to spread the ember across the firebox floor, bringing plenty towards the front of the stove. 6. Lay three pieces of eco log (see dimensions above) onto the embers. Leave half an inch (1 cm) or more between each piece. Place the ends of your logs towards the opening, but not too close to the front. 7. Close the door. Leave the primary air supply fully open. 8. After a few minutes, and adjust the primary air supply to suit your heating requirements. 9. Anticipate each refueling, remembering to add a modest layer of eco log while there are still plenty of live embers, Repeat steps 5-8. 12Do not for any reason attempt to increase the firing of your heater by altering the air control adjustment range outlined in these directions. Warning: Fireplace stoves must never be left unattended with doors open. If the door is left partly open, gas and flame may be drawn out of the fireplace stove opening, creating risks from both fire and smoke. We recommend you to fit a smoke detector in the room where the stove is installed. DO NOT OVERFIRE THIS HEATER. Over firing may cause a house fire, or can result in permanent damage to the stove. If any part of the stove glows, you are overfiring. The maximum recommended weight of wood fuel per load is 2 kg/h/5.5Ibs (approx 3 split logs). Under normal firing, the average flue temperature in the stove pipe, measured 20 cm above the stove, is approx. 300° C (550°F). The maximum flue temperature in the stove pipe must not exceed 450° C (750°F). If the flue temperature exceeds 450°C (750°F), it is considered as over firing and may cause premature wear and tear of the stove. To help gauge the correct running temperature of your stove, we recommend you use the Morsø Flue Gas Thermometer (part # 62901200). The Flue Gas Thermometer magnetically attaches onto the stove pipe approx 20 cm (8") above the stove's top plate and measures the surface temperature of the stove pipe. Please see your authorized Morsø Dealer for availability. Draft conditions If smoke or fumes come out of your stove when lightning up and reloading, or if the fire simply will not respond, a poor draft is almost certainly to blame. (In a very few cases, there may be insufficient fresh air getting into the room - see installation advice above). Take advice from your stove supplier on how best to upgrade your flue system to improve draft. Rules of woodburning If you want less heat, put fewer logs on the stove and reduce the amount of air. It is still important to maintain a good layer of embers. Less heat - less wood - less air Greater heat - more wood - more air Soot deposits will settle on the glass if the stove is run too slowly or if your wood is not well seasoned. 13

Rosea Cottage is a private home nestled within the picturesque Grampians National Park just a short 3 minute walk from nearby shops, cafés, restaurants, and the information centre. *Please note due to the instability of wifi in Halls Gap there is no wifi at Rosea Cottage* “Overarched by a blue sky Overhung by a rugged mountain Surrounded by trees and melodic birdsong Accompanied by friendly kangaroos and cockatoos In the bliss of morning at Rosea Cottage” (Marian and Colin/Scotland/27Nov2019)
Rosea Cottage is a much loved, spacious, one bedroom home with a welcoming feel. The high cathedral ceiling, bespoke furniture and artwork created by Marcus add to its charm. The king size bed, cozy lounge with wood fire, well appointed kitchen, spa and great views from the deck ensure a pleasant stay for a solo or couple's getaway. We love our home and enjoy adding personal touches so it feels like a home away from home. In May 2019 Marcus made and installed the bathroom vanity from scratch to give the room a more rustic feel; and in January 2020 he renovated the kitchen to add light and colour to the space. You’ll also enjoy the visiting local wildlife, and the magnificent views of The Grampians mountain range from the front porch and rear deck which provide the special setting that only nature can offer.
Rosea Cottage is situated within a 2-3 minute walk to the township of Halls Gap and all it has to offer. On your stroll to town for an early morning coffee, you’ll catch the amazing fragrance of the freshly baking waffle cones at the ice creamery. During the day, there are scenic drives, waterfalls to find, great hikes and even a winery area. In the evening you can walk to town for a meal at one of several restaurants. In April 2019 a micro brewery opened just a short walk from the house and is a great addition to the area! Halls Gap also boasts a real country pub, a chemist, grocery store, gift shop and the Information Centre. There's even a swimming pool in town for those hot summer months.
  • Rosea Cottage is the perfect, stylish, top quality home-from-home bolthole situated in the heart of a nature reserve. The village of Halls Gap has all the amenities needed for a stay of 3 days or 2 weeks and all are within 5-10 minutes walk of the cottage. There is a great selection of good standard eating places and bars. Even if, like us city dwellers, you are not into hiking and walking, Halls Gap is a great ‘base camp’ for seeing so many beautiful and interesting historical sites within an hours drive. Mackenzie Falls is a must for everyone (with enough puff to climb back up the steps). Take a bottle of water with you. Another fantastic place was the J Ward Gaol at Ararat - a very interesting part of Australian history. We Brits come to Australia mostly to visit family and friends living in cities or coastal areas. There is rarely time to venture into the interior to see the other side of this fabulous beautiful country. Our wonderful hostess Lisa even arranges a personal visit in the evenings of a family of up to 10 kangaroos on the front lawn. Magic! James and Angie Reynolds from the UK. J James and Angie

  • Perfectly located - the house is about 5 minutes to the centre of town and is a lovely quiet strip. Isolated but only in a good way. Plenty of local wildlife for those that are up at the right hours. The house itself was big and roomy, and a wonderful location to return to after any day spent out enjoy the Halls Gap area. After a long hike out the Pinnacles it was wonderful to be able to return home and unwind in the spa. The location and house made the entire getaway a wonderful experience, and the check in process made everything so easy.

Passive solar holiday house, very comfy beds, great deck with views over farm to mountain range, 10 min walk to town centre, part of Quamby Farm, all linen, fully self contained, just bring food! The King bed can be made into two King singles if requested prior to arrival.
Gate house to Quamby farm. Ant's Halls Gap House is the only place in Halls Gap where you can access Quamby Farm, a third generation farm on the valley floor. Price is per couple per night. While the house easily and comfortably hosts 2 couples, the (steep) upstairs open plan loft can take up to another 4 guests on the 2 double futons there.
The amazing sandstone ranges rising up (straight up) on either side of our family farm. The really amazing wildlife like birds, kangaroos, deer...all are very much a part of living and staying here. Very family friendly town, heaps of walking tracks through the ranges to explore, from windswept peaks to cool, damp gullies, the Grampians are an island of biodiversity and a geological wonderland.
  • Ant and Melissa's place is a little haven of peace, such a great location, great hosts and resident friendly puppies! Their care and love of the land is plain to see and the farm produce was an added bonus, we'll be cooking with the herbs for sometime to come and definitely staying again! Thanks for everything, Helen, Nat and Jen

    Helen2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable and in a great location. We didn’t want to leave the balcony which has great views, comfy chairs and gets lovely sun. I’m going to book this place again for my next quiet weekend away.

  • Quaint, lodge-like setting within walking distance of cafes and restaurants in Halls Gap. Beautiful view of the mountains from a seat on the back deck. Basket of fresh fruits, veggies and herbs from the Quamby farm was a bonus, and made for a nice addition to a dinner-in.

    Kevin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ant and Melissa are amazing host. They welcomed us in their farm and pampered us with amazing fruits, veggies and eggs from their garden. The house is spacious and comfortable, everything you need is here. We really had a great time there. Highly recommend it. Thanks a lot for the weekend.

  • Fantastic place to stay, we really enjoyed the farm, birds singing in the morning and the variety of wildlife you can see from the super comfy leader seats on the balcony. We even got a little fruit and veggie basket from Ant and Melissa grown in their garden, this was for sure one of the highlights of our trip.

The Grampians National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many walk tracks and waterfalls to visit whilst based here at the cottages. Self-contained, 2 x queen bedroom villa, linen & towels. High grade disinfectant used on every surface and hot wash for bedding. Explore the wonderful Grampians or relax on your veranda or in front of the wood fire or split system air-conditioner. The comforts of home, close to walking and cycling tracks to Halls Gap (2km), the Brambuk loop walk and Boronia Lookout. You are likely to see Kangaroos, emus, echidnas and deer wandering through the property. There is also an abundance of bird-life.
The villa will be all yours. The two queen beds are made for you with sheets and doonas. Ideal villa for two couples. We are happy if there are 4 people plus a baby (there is a portacot there) or a child - please contact us directly once you book to request a roll-out bed (best suited for a child) with linen/bedding provided - this can be placed in one of the bedrooms or in the lounge room. However, you will need to put the linen/blankets/doona on this bed yourselves (we will leave in the bedroom cupboard for you).
It is wonderful place to live right in the middle of the Grampians with bushwalks across the road and great cycling/walking paths to cafes/restaurants/shops in Halls Gap. It is a quiet end of town. There are 4 villas on the property but you will still feel like you are out in nature, as wildlife wanders through the property and you are right in the Grampians National Park. Brambuk cultural centre across the road is well worth a visit and they have a lovely little cafe too. Take care of the Kangaroos on road (thousands of them everywhere and some emus and deer too). Good idea to book for evening meals to be sure. These are some of our favourites: Great food at Kookaburra Hotel in Halls Gap and a good bar for a drink too. Halls Gap Hotel on road to Stawell Rd. Barney's Bistro/pub in Pomonal is worth the drive Wed-Sun evenings & Sat/Sun lunch (in an old shearing shed). And while you are in Pomonal, there is a new winery worth visiting called Pomonal Estate, on the Pomonal-Stawell Rd. There are many other wineries in the area too, including Fallen Giants on the Halls Gap-Ararat Rd, Seppelts and Bests in Great Western. Grampians Wine Tours can take you there https://www.grampianswinetours.com.au/ Brambuk Aboriginal Culture Centre's cafe across the road make a good cuppa and have some interesting and tasty lunch and snack foods. The Adventure Golf Cafe on the left towards Lake Bellfield is good if a person called Art is cooking (lunches, snacks and Fri/Sat evening meals and beer/wine too. Harvest and Livefast in Halls Gap are both great for breakfast and lunch. Punjab Indian between HG and your villa. The motel just up from us called 'The Views', towards Lake Bellfield, same side of road as us, haven't been there for a while, was slightly more expensive but good food and a pet kangaroo. Actually kangaroo was my favourite dish there too. (Sorry if you are a vegetarian lol). I would grocery shop in a bigger town prior to arrival, however there is a small supermarket in Halls Gap that is useful if you need some items. The tourist info centre will have maps and can advise you. The Pinnacle walk is great if you are reasonably fit and have a few hours spare and it is from the Wonderland Carpark or if you want a longer walk it starts from the Venus Baths walk at the back of the caravan park near the shops in Halls Gap (the Venus Baths walk via the botanical gardens is a lovely little walk). Boroka and Reeds lookouts are special too (drive) and do MacKenzie Falls while you are there too. There is also a lovely circuit walk over the road from the villa down a path and across a little bridge at the back of the Brambuk maintenance sheds (walk slightly right from the villas). Lots of Kangaroos, Emus and Deer out there and you can walk across to the trees on the little track and follow it left and then when another left option with a sign to Brambuk occurs, you take it left to go over another footbridge and then travel left to get back to Brambuk. Or don't take the left over the bridge and keep walking to Halls Gap. A great walk to the Harvest or Livefast for breakfast. I love that walk in the morning or late afternoon when the animals are grazing and the colours from the sun are amazing. And maybe there will be an echidna along the creek at night.
  • Highly recommend staying here! Great location and advice on local walks and restaurants. Saw so much wildlife and made friends with the cockatoos. Really enjoyed our stay!

    Amanda2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely retreat, close to nature and with a great atmosphere of the beautiful mountains. Many visits from kangaroos on the doorstep! Clean, comfortable and perfect for our family of four.

  • Sue's place was perfect for our long weekend in the Grampians. Right jn the heart of Halls Gap,with beautiful walking tracks to reach some really nice cafes, we couldn't hope for anything better. Plus the wildlife right there outside our balcony every morning and the quiet and silence. Our kids loved it too, plenty of space. Thanks Sue!

    Paola And Arie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The property is very well equipped and very comfortably furnished and is ideally placed for exploring the Grampians. We enjoyed being able to reach the Pinnacle Lookout and Boronia Point without using the car although the former was a challenging walk. Particularly enjoyable was being able to watch the animals from the veranda and we even enjoyed the close attention of the cockatoos.
