Places to stay in Coniston Water
My cosy cottage is close to Coniston Water and only a 10 minute stroll to Coniston Village centre with its selection of pubs, shops and restaurants. You’ll love the Hideaway because it is a cosy retreat for two in the heart of the Lake District where you can have great walks straight from your doorstep and then relax in front of your roaring log burning stove. (initial logs provided & Sky TV) The private garden enjoys stunning views and offers a perfect place for relaxing and al fresco dining.
  • Mark 's cottage is really nice and cosy. It 's small but with every comfort. It' s situated in a nice area and only a 10 min walk from the local pub. Please take care when stepping out of the front door as you will be on the main road and it can be dangerous. Mark is really good at communicating and you feel you can rely on him if there is a problem. We had a very pleasant stay.

  • Great stay in a nice small cottage suitable for a couple, just need to be careful leaving the property due to traffic driving fast past the front door, which opens onto the road.

  • Wonderfully clean, warm and welcoming space! Parking available directly outside, and we didn't use the car at all over our long weekend stay, as walks with our dog took us out and about to Ambleside and Windermere. Loved the new shower room, ample hot water, lovely kitchen space for cooking after long days of gorgeous walks, and close to two fab pubs, The Black Bull and The Ship. The bed is huge and comfy! Stuart and Sandy made us and Cera so welcome. We arrived in the dark, after a long drive, but no problem. Thank you, we feel so rested.

The Farmhouse is a characterful, white washed 17th century farmhouse set in a secluded 1.2 acres of woodland with private lake access (shared with two other cottages) leading to the beautiful waters of lake Coniston. Situated in an enviable spot, the cottage is an ideal place for couples, families or small groups, to come and unwind in the peaceful surroundings and explore the Lakes by foot, bike or boat. As from January 2020 there will be building work going on at house opposite weekdays only
The Farmhouse has been re-furbished to a high standard with a new kitchen, carpets, family bathroom with roll top bath, shower room and thermostatically controlled central heating. The period feel has been sympathetically maintained with exposed beams in all rooms, cast iron wood burning stove in an original fire place setting, antique furniture and even a 300 year old bread oven. The cottage has two generous bedrooms, one with a king size bed and wash basin, the other with twin beds. In addition, there are two bathrooms, a spacious lounge with wood burner, piano, flat screen TV and DVD player, kitchen/diner with iPod dock, Wifi and CD player /radio, porch and large ground floor cloakroom area. A private foot path leads from the front door directly to a large grassy area (perfect for children and pets to play) and a private beach where boats/canoes can be launched or barbecues and picnics enjoyed. The footpath and beach are shared with two other adjoining cottages only. Please note, there is no enclosed private garden as such but there is plenty of grassy space down by the lake for your children (or dogs) to let off steam. This is fenced either side leading down to the lake with a path leading up to the cottage on one side and lake on the other. Other numerous footpaths can be accessed easily from the cottage, following lakeside routes to the lovely village of Coniston or fanning out over the stunning scenery of Blawith Common. Coniston village with it's shops, pubs and other amenities is only 4 miles away and other lakeland villages, towns and tourist attractions are all within easy reach. A selection of children's / adults books, DVD's, games and maps are all available at the cottage for you to use. Use of barbecue. Cot and high chair available on request. Prices include electric, all bed linen, towels, BBQ charcoal and logs for stove (extra available to buy locally).
  • Lovely cottage well equipped with everything you could need for a stay at anytime of year . Would definitely visit again in slightly warmer weather and take advantage of great outdoor space as well .

  • A lovely stay was had in this old farmhouse. Weather wasn’t great during our stay but it didn’t dampen our enjoyment, however location must be great in summer as you have immediate access to the lake. Ideal location for visiting a beautiful part of the Lake District with good walks straight from the door.

  • We loved staying at Lucy's cottage! So homely and just what we needed. The cottage has a shared private Lake and woodland which our dog absolutely adored. The wood burner next to the TV was a treat for us Londoners and the kitchen was well equipped. The bed was super comfortable with spare towels and linen. Would absolutely stay again. Thanks again Lucy!!

  • Lovely, cosy cottage within easy walking distance of the lake. Clean and tidy with lots of tips for places to visit and ideas for things to do. Lots of dvds, books and games too. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. There's a lovely walk which starts just across the main road and has amazing views of Coniston Water. Lucy is an excellent host and was very to respond to queries we had. Would definitely return.

Unique double room with its own private entrance in the heart of the Lake District.
A private double room with a king sized bed and private bathroom, the Suite has it's own private entrance.
The bungalow is just s few minutes from the village centre. There are plenty of eating places such as pubs and cafes along with a co op, bakers and butcher shop. There are also many opportunities for walking and cycling in the area.
  • The room is private and had everything we need to rest after exploring this area of the Lake District. The location is great: there are a few places to eat (short walk distance) nearby and a short drive from beautiful places (like the Grizedale forest). Rachel and Ian were great hosts and very helpful getting us familiar with the area and the best places to go.

    Marisol2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have just enjoyed a wonderful two night stay in Rachel's lovely accommodation. It is well situated, just a two minute stroll from the centre of Coniston and is ideal for exploring the area. The room is very clean, warm and beautifully presented. We wouldn't hesitate in booking again! As a side note, we would recommend the Yewdale Inn for food (fabulous pizzas!)

    Stephen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay at Rachel’s place. The private space was beautiful set up for anything you could possibly want/need. Rachel was considerate and thoughtful with some of the warmest hospitality we’ve had. The location is perfect for any Lake District adventure as well as cosy nights in the local. No negatives to this experience.

  • Great hospitality in a beautiful place

    Mark2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious room with nice area for relaxing rather than having to sit on the bed. Good area between room and bathroom for coats, bags etc . thoughtful touches for example, tray for muddy boots to dry. Nicely decorated and very clean. Just a great place. Very central to walk into coniston but also quiet

    Lindsey2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel was lovely and the room was great. It was really cosy and the location was great for us - really easy access to the lakeside and the trails around Coniston. Coniston had plenty of choice for food and it all looked pretty good. We ended up eating at the Bluebird cafe on the lakeside. We didn't have time to visit the museums and things in the village, but there was a lot more than we expected to keep us busy. The room itself was spacious and Rachel left a kettle, tea and coffee. The shower was lovely after a cold day out. We were there to be outdoors, but if you need it then the wifi connection was excellent and the tv was good to collapse in front of at the end of the day. There's a good size room between the bedroom and bathroom that made an excellent 'dressing' room. Parking on the drive was easy, the views right out of the window were lovely, the area was very quiet, arriving and checking out were super straightforward and Rachel let us know she was there if needed. The stay was perfect.

Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains its charm, even in high summer. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep.
We have 2 lovely guest bedrooms, each with king-size beds, sharing a bathroom. (We often only have one guest group at a time but on busy summer weekends you may have to share the facilities.) I provide fresh towels, shower & bath products, wifi access & tea/coffee making facilities in your room. You can enjoy your buffet breakfast either in the kitchen by the Aga, or outside if the weather is nice. You are welcome to use the kitchen to prepare your packed lunch or a simple evening meal though of course you may prefer to visit one of the local pubs or restaurants; the nearest pub is the Red Lion ( a gentle 2 mile walk away if you're feeling energetic!)
If you want to leave the car behind, just step out of the door! Explore the small pebbled beaches and coves at the southern end of the lake by foot or on your bike. The lovely National Trust steam boat 'Gondola' plies the lake and you can have a leisurely cruise, or perhaps visit Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin for over 30 years. If you want to climb the fells, the Old Man of Coniston and other famous Lakeland peaks are just up the road.

We fell in love with this place the moment we arrived. The peace of the area gave us a chance to relax in the beautiful surroundings. Close by, the lake, hills and mountains gave us the chance to have some adventures. Our Lake District cottage is one of four properties that were once the mill in Water Yeat. It has an open kitchen dining room which makes a great space to relax. The living room has a wood burning stove, vaulted ceiling and large windows with views over the hamlet and countryside.
Our cottage has: An open kitchen diner with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. A living room with two sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wood-burning stove. 1 double bedroom with king-size bed 1 double bedroom with double day bed Bathroom with bath and separate shower Hallway Parking for two vehicles Garden and patio
We live in a small hamlet with lovely views and walks and cycle rides in all directions. Walk straight onto the nearby hills, down to the river or along to the lake Coniston Water. Nearby are the villages of Coniston and Hawkshead, the higher Lakeland mountains and Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. A little further are Ambleside, Windermere, Langdale and Grasmere. The area has many great cafes and pubs serving local produce. For the more adventurous there is great mountain walking, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing close by, independently or with local adventure companies.
  • Had a perfect week with our 2 beagles, garden perfect for them to run around in. Cottage has everything we needed and will definitely be coming back

  • This is a lovely room with a very nice bathroom - sparkling clean, enclosed shower, soft towels. Not much room for luggage but that is to be expected. Very nice hosts - asked about any food issues or preferences when we booked. There are gluten free options (including bread) at the pub downstairs. We really appreciated the great value on the packed lunch as we checked out.

The cottage is perfectly located, perched just above Coniston village at the foot of the mountain. It's a short stroll down the hill to the village, with its many amenities, and to the lake. Walks up the Old Man of Coniston begin from right outside the house.
The stable door opens into the cosy and welcoming lounge with comfortable seating and a TV. The window has views over the lake. There is a beautiful fireplace with exposed slate and a cast iron stove. You can buy wood at the garage in the village. The kitchen diner has a newly fitted kitchen with integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, induction hob and oven. There is a table and seating for 4 people. At the rear of the property is a small utility area with a washing machine and places for coats and muddy boots. There is also a downstairs WC. The lounge and the kitchen are divided by a stairway in the centre of the room. Note there are no handrails on the top few stairs. Bedroom 1: Double bedroom to the front with stunning views across Coniston Water. Kingsize bed with solid oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bedroom 2: Twin bedroom to the rear. There are 2 single beds with solid oak wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bathroom: Upstairs bathroom with toilet, basin and luxurious walk in shower. Note there is no bath in the property. Garden: There is no garden however there is a small bench outside the front of the cottage from which you get a beautiful view over the lake. There is a small paved area with a bistro garden table and chairs at the back of the property. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the nature of the cottage, care should be exercised and children should be supervised at all times especially around the staircase, the upstairs windows and the wood burning stove.
Coniston is a lovely village with some great pubs and restaurants. It also has some good shops including a fantastic bakery. The lake is a few minutes walk and has a boating centre where you can hire all sorts of boats and bikes. Grizedale forest is a short drive away and has many things to do with great off road bike trails, walks, and Go Ape. There are tons of great walks in the area. We’ve several walking guide books in the cottage that you are welcome to use to find a good route.
  • Lovely, stylish and very clean cottage. Cosy and welcoming. Good location and lovely views. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

  • Shona and Pete’s place was exactly what we needed for a lovely weekend hiking. Great location, very clean and everything was there was is to make it very comfortable. Perfect stay

    Thomas2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A really welcoming cottage, beautifully decorated, warm, quiet and relaxing. Loved the shower room, the comfy sofas by the wood burner - and the view across Coniston Water.

    Elizabeth2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Shona's cottage is well decorated, warm, and very homely. This is the second time I've stayed here and it's been perfect both times. Particularly love the fireplace and shower, both are really lovely to come back to after long walks. The location is great, it has good Wifi connection, and was a pleasure to stay in.

    Callum2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage, which is actually nicer and bigger than the photos suggest. It is brilliantly situated, warm and comfortable with amazing views of the valley. The kitchen is very well equipped, the sitting room has great views and a fire, and the bedrooms are so comfy. The shower room at the top of the house is just great. Every room is beautifully and tastefully decorated, with a lovely sense of calm. The cottage was very clean when we arrived. There is plenty of room for two couples, so we would highly recommend this cottage and would definitely return.

    Charlotte2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Shona’s place is a lovely, cosy little cottage with wonderful views and an excellent location for walks around Coniston. The interior is modern and the kitchen well-equipped. We are looking forward to staying again in future!

    James2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Shona’s place is a great house overlooking the village of Coniston. It is basically as you see in the pictures and has clearly been presented to a high standard. The living room is cozy and has a lovely log burner which is great on a winters day. The kitchen has all the appliances you will need and the bathroom has a lovely shower. There is a second toilet downstairs too! The location is up a small street overlooking the village and lake. It has amazing views but is still only a few minutes walk into the village itself. The communication with Shona was efficient and clear. We would definitely recommend this place and would definitely stay here again in the future.

Puddleduck House is an extremely stylish and spacious three bedroom house situated right in the centre of the stunning village of Coniston, in the Lake District National Park. Surrounded by gorgeous mountain scenery, the property has two large receptions (inc. feature log-burner), well-equipped kitchen, downstairs WC, three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, garden and a spacious garage offering parking for two cars. 1 min walk from the village and 8-10 mins from the Lake. Super-fast WiFi.
Puddleduck House is a fantastic house for holidaying in the Lake District. Being situated right in the heart of the village (with no nasty hills to climb to get to and from the pub!) it is close to everything - the lake, the mountains, the walks, the pubs, restaurants and takeaways! The house is very spacious and you have a large, comfortable lounge with wall-mounted TV, feature log-burner and comfy leather sofas. The dining room has a large table with seating for 6, plus a highchair should you need one. The kitchen is very well equipped - with microwave, cooker and hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine (there is a tumble dryer in the garage too), dishwasher and even a slow cooker - ideal for coming back to after a long day's walking and sightseeing! There are plenty of cupboards for storing food and the cupboards/draws are very well-equipped with everything you should need for cooking up a storm! On the ground floor there is also a toilet. On the first floor there are two bedrooms - one has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables and also has the convenience of an en-suite shower room and WC. The other, very spacious, bedroom can either be a family room with two twin beds or a super-comfy superking bed. There is a wardrobe, ornamental fireplace and chest of drawers. On the top floor (can be a master suite) there is the master bedroom which enjoys views across to the mountains and has a kingsize bed, double built-in wardrobes, dressing table and chest of drawers. All of the bedrooms have large mirrors and electrical sockets. The master bathroom, also on the top floor, has fantastic views of Coniston Old Man and the pretty houses dotted around the base of the fells. There is a very luxurious roll-top bath and a separate shower cubicle, WC, wash hand basin plus storage for bathroom effects. Outside the kitchen door is a small back yard with bistro set and gate to private path, across which is the garage. The garage is very spacious and long, with parking for two cars. The garage houses the tumble dryer. To the rear of the garage there is a pretty little garden with patio and grass - and a picnic bench from where you can gaze up at the mountains with a cup of tea or something stronger! A BBQ is provided - ideal for warmer months! We strive really hard to make sure your holiday in Puddleduck House is memorable and relaxing ... giving you the chance to totally unwind from the stresses and strains of daily life :)
Coniston is situated in the heart of the English Lake District National Park. Although we are of course biased, we feel Coniston offers the most to holidaymakers. It is surrounded by stunning mountains - with Coniston 'Old Man' being a real pull for hikers and climbers. But there are smaller mountains and fell slopes to climb too - even a hike to a mountain tarn, 'Levers Water' should you feel like an adventurous walk without so much height. Local walks lead to the ever-popular beauty spot, 'Tarn Hows' and a particular favourite walk of ours is from Coniston to Torver, along the shoreline of Coniston Water. Coniston can be quieter than Windermere and Ambleside which we love - you can have parts of the lake to yourself at times! Yet it's popular enough to warrant 5 pubs, two restaurants and three takeaways, as well as convenience stores, butchers, gift shops, cafes and a petrol station. A gentle stroll from the house down to the lake takes you to the wonderful Bluebird Cafe, which is a glass-fronted cafe situated right on the lake, with stunning views.
  • Ideal location to explore the area, the house was clean and tidy and very easy to use, the host was quick with responses with the questions i had to ask before we got there.

    Max2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best breaks we have had! We have never been to Coniston and we have truly found a beautiful place to stay. Will definitely look at staying again. The home is beautiful, stylish, extremely clean and in a perfect location. The home has beautiful art work and has everything you need and more! If you want a quiet, relaxing time away I would definitely give this place a try..... oh and the bath is incredible

    Lily2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Large house, very well equipped and comfortable. Ideally suited for walking. Highly recommend The nearby Crown Hotel and Meadowdore Cafe for food

    Julie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the cottage. The cottage was spacious and had everything you could possibly need. There are pubs and places to eat minutes away and brilliant walks. I would highly recommend this cottage and would love to come back again!

    Cat2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing, a real home away from home, superbly decorated and all quality furniture. Everything you need for a truly comfortable stay. Great art work too !! And perfect location in the village - and you must eat at Steam !!

    Richard2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house is cosy, especially in the main bedroom. It is very clean and in a really good location (quiet and convenient). My family had a great time here. Chloe responded to our questions quickly! Highly recommend this place.

    Yichen2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for a weekend in the lakes - location can't be beaten and a cosy home to stay in and be based from for walks

    Emily2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning location, views were beautiful and a short walk to the lake. The roads into and out of Coniston are an experience :) It is a small village but a perfect base to explore further afield or if you enjoy walking you will be spoilt for choice. There is a local bus service to take you to other villages like Windermere and Hawkshead etc, if you are nervous of the country lanes or just don"t want to drive. The bus stop is at the end of the road £11.50 for an adult day saver or £27 for a week but options for families too. The Crown Inn was our favourite place to eat out in the village. There are a few shops for souvenirs. The house was lovely and a bonus that it accepts dogs. It truly is home from home and has quality things in there I wouldn't expect to see in an airbnb just in case people did not take care of them. There is everything you will need for your stay, even stairgates which were great to keep the dog downstairs. It is very well equipped and decorated lovely. We ordered a food delivery (Sainsbury's) for the day of our stay which I recommend if you are staying for a week but there is a small co-op. The beds were lovely and comfortable with quality bedding. The views out of the bedrooms and the bathroom are stunning. The neighbours were lovely and very helpful, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay there again.

  • Lovely host and location. Wonderful view from windows too! Apartment was clean and tidy. Overall the stay was pleasant and comfortable. Very warm and dog friendly. Just a bit of a downer was that we could hear kids screaming at 6-7 AM so that woke us up, walls might be pretty thin, otherwise no complains at all.

Beck Lodge is a very comfortable studio style apartment just five minutes walk to both the lake and Coniston village shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. A perfect base for couples or singles wanting to walk, cycle, enjoy water sports/ boat trips or simply relax in a beautiful part of the Lake District. Beck Lodge is the closest accommodation in Coniston to the lake.
Beck Lodge is a cosy open plan studio style accommodation on the ground level with no internal steps and a real maple floor throughout with open plan kitchen, dining and living area. It also has a fully tiled shower room with underfloor heating and a heated towel rail. There is a cloak and boot space in the entrance hall.
Very quiet village neighbourhood, Coniston remains a 'working village' and employment is not purely tourism with working quarries and other small busineses. There are five traditional pubs all serving food and many cafes & restaurants including 'Bluebird' by the lake just 5 mins walk away.
  • We stayed 2 nights at beck lodge and it was lovely. It is immaculate and more spacious than expected. There was plenty of kitchen bits so we made a home cooked meal on the first night. The location is perfect a very short walk to the old man of coniston, the lake with a nice cafe and a few nice pubs for dinner. I would highly recommend staying here!

Next to pretty Torver beck and with lake frontage to the quiet western shore of Coniston Water, this is the perfect place for a 'get-away-from-it-all' break. Originally part of an old mill building the Cottage has modern facilities but retains lots of character. Surrounded by fantastic scenery on all sides you don't need to go far to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes. Relax in the garden, or stroll down to the lake. Walk up onto the Common for amazing views, or explore the lake and island by canoe.
This 300 year-old traditional stone watermill has been cleverly converted into three individual and attractive cottage-style apartments. In an idyllic riverside setting beside tumbling Torver Beck, each of the three apartments (Dipper, Wren and Robin) are full of character and retain many original features such as exposed stone walls and beams, whilst ensuring comfort and warmth after the day's activities. The grassy lane beside the beck leads to a large wooded field (sheep-free - a haven for dogs) and on to the secluded lake-shore, where you can sit in peace and enjoy the views, or jump into a canoe to explore the lake and the island. Perfect for couples, Wren cottage forms the eastern end of the original Mill building. There's an attractive open-plan living area, king-size bed, and en-suite bathroom with a powerful pumped shower over the bath.
Sunny Bank is situated on the quiet western shore of Coniston Water. Surrounded by fantastic scenery on all sides you don't need to go far to enjoy the beauty of the Lakes. Wonderful walks from the doorstep take you along the lake-shore or up onto Torver Common, with its pretty tarns and breathtaking lake and mountain views. Hire our canoe (or bring your own boat) and have fun exploring the lake including Swallows & Amazons 'Wild Cat' island. Torver, a mile away, has two pubs, both serving excellent food. Coniston, 4 miles north, is a small but busy typical Lakeland village, with several shops and a variety of pubs and places to eat. Ulverston (6 miles south) has a great supermarket (Booths), cobbled streets and many interesting shops.
  • We stayed at the Wren cottage on Sunny Bank and it was lovely. Daphne was a great host and provided all the details for a hassle free self check in. The property is very well maintained and has excellent views onto Coniston Water. We would recommend this location and Daphne as a host and would love to stay again.

    Nicholas2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful position within a couple hundred yards of the lake with private access. The river with rapids roaring is an outstanding feature we saw Dipper and Gooseander. The cottage was warm so important when you’ve been up on the fells with a hot shower another MUST. The cottage is very well equipped making cooking straight forward.

    Jon2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful 7 days at Wren Cottage - located in exceptionally beautiful grounds with its own lakeside access which we took full advantage of by swimming and kayaking each day. The cottage itself is very warm and welcoming, exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The sofas which recline were most welcome at the end of the day. The only thing that let the week down was the very wet weather. The sun decided to shine the day we left! It is the Lakes after all. Great local walks and more challenging hikes further afield. The stunning vistas even in wet weather are truly inspiring. This was a great week for us and our dog, Bree.

    Liz2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Homely little cottage in magnificent surroundings, perfect for two and a puppy for a long weekend. Canoe trip to Peel Island, aka Wild Cat Island was fun. Stunning lakeside access and long walks with no need to take the car. Thank you.

  • Fab place, great location Thank you Daphne

    Steve2018-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay - top location - direct access to Lake Coniston with availability of canoes for use. Good walks right on the doorstep if you have dogs. Short drive to Coniston for supplies but better to take your own provisions so you only need ‘essentials’ Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!!,

    Gordon2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A thoroughly comfortable and superbly equipped cottage in a fabulous location.

    Robin2018-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • We thought this was a lovely cosy cottage for two and a small dog. The access to the lakeside was a real plus especially if you have a small boat or canoe. The area around the cottage was well maintained and it was useful to be able to walk the dog down to the lakeside without a lead. The cottage has everything you need. The location is quiet despite being close to an A road and it only takes a few minutes to drive to Torver and Coniston for supplies and pubs.

Angela was very welcoming on our arrival and was understanding of our late arrival due to a traffic accident on the motorway. The apartment was great. Right in the middle of the village and only a short walk to some lovely pubs. We had come to stay as we competing in the Langdale half marathon and it was a great base for this event.

It is an old histric house with modern comforts and beautiful gardens. Certainly one of the most attractive houses in the area and at the same time having easy walking access to village, countryside and lakes.
The rooms that you book and the lounges, Kitchen., Dinning room is at your disposal.
Wonderful pubs in area, near shops, restaurants. House opposite games area ; tennis courts , bowling green and cricket grounds. The house is at the foot of the 'Old Man' - a mountain to be climbed and in the hart of the famous Lake Distrist national park and Unesco World Heritage area.
  • As a party of 12 visiting the area for walking, we found this house perfect. It is very well located in the village of Coniston - near the pubs, cafes and shops. It's also perfect for walkers being right next to Old Man Coniston. The house is not 'luxury' but had everything we needed and it has many lovely old features, like the tiled entrance hall. Everything was very clean and tidy and our host was very accommodating. Overall we felt it was fantastic value!

  • The house was fantastic value for money and the hosts were extremely accommodating. We had a great trip!

  • Last minute climbing trip, Robert's place was easily the best value and stunning village location. Large property lots of rooms with shared kitchen and lounge. No mucking about with crap British breakfasts - go to the new bakery in Coniston. Will definitely be returning.

  • The three of us were looking for a cottage to celebrate our first Christmas together as a family. Netherfell was perfect for us. It's lovely and warm and comfortable. Close to shops and walks and would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to have a holiday. We were very pleased.

It was comfortable, very nicely presented, in a great location in centre of the village and very functional with super kitchen and dining space and separate lounge and 3 generous bedrooms with excellent storage space and even a very usable fenced courtyard - ideal for our visiting grandchildren.

Traditional cumbrian cottage built in 1850. Our high standards, along with the picturesque views from the cottage and the terrace garden make this a perfect place to relax & unwind. For those looking to explore, this is an ideal start for many walks, and just a few minutes from the nearest pub! Part-week bookings are available from now to the end of March 2020, with a minimum of 3 nights stay. Housekeeping takes place each Friday, so part-week bookings must fall between Friday - Friday.
Although this is a traditional 1850's Cottage, there is plenty of space for 4 guests and one well behaved pet. The stone floor throughout the ground level is ideal for guests bringing their pet on holiday. The kitchen / dining room is large enough for entertaining and has everything you need: a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and plenty of storage area. The lounge is a relaxing and cosy area with a log burning stove that is perfect for those wintery evenings. There is a large king size bedroom with a double wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and bedding box. The twin bedroom also has a double wardrobe and a bedside table. The family bathroom is upstairs with a bath/shower, but we also have a downstairs WC, a cloak room area to kick off your boots, as well as a large utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and plenty more workspace/storage area - you can store your bikes in here too. Bedding and hand/bath towels for 4 people are supplied, along with two tea-towels, a dishcloth, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and several washing machine pods. Outside the cottage you will have superb views across Coniston Water from our lovely terrace garden. When the weather allows, you can dine alfresco or enjoy a drink in one of the most picturesque settings in the Lake District. Fibre optic wifi is supplied free of charge (not form part of the booking contract) and the connection code is included in the welcome book in the cottage.
The Cottage is situated on a quiet leafy lane on the Banks of Coniston. The views over the Village and across the Lake to Brantwood & Grizedale are stunning, giving us a lovely setting for a morning cuppa on the Terrace, or for a late evening drink watching the sunset.
  • Miner's Cottage is a lovely retreat with great views over the lake and village of Coniston. We stayed with our two year old daughter and the house was fine for us as a small family. The cottage was much bigger inside than we expected and was really well equipped as well as being very clean.

    Chris2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The road/hill up to the cottage is very steep but good practice before you attempt the Coniston old man! The parking space can be a little awkward if your car is quite low as ours is -the entrance is a bit rough with a few big hot-holes. We only parked to load and unload then left our car on the rd at the bottom as we were there to walk anyway.

    Nick2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful long weekend in Coniston. Cottage is an ideal base for walks in the hills and around the lakes and close to local pubs and shops. Great stay!

    Si2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cosy cottage. It was rather warm, clean and quiet in the house. In the kitchen there is everything you might need to make breakfast or lunch, only dishwashing machine was broken. But there were plenty of board games in the living room so it was a great fun to play them when there was dishwashing at stake😀 Also, the location of the cottage was perfect, it is situated at the hill so you can enjoy a marvellous view over the town and lake. Tourist spots and shops are within easy walking distance and there are several hiking routes not far from the town to get rid of weight you gained after eating delicious food in the pubs and restaurants nearby. So inspite of cold winter weather, our stay was unforgettable.

    Vasily2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mandy's cottage is a really lovely place to stay, on the hill above Coniston with great views of the lake. Neat, clean and tidy. We'd recommend it to anyone.

    Christopher2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Mandy’s miners cottage is a quaint cottage which is well appointed with everything you need. The views are spectacular and the local village is a stones throw away with lovely pubs and shops etc. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

The cottage boasts a wealth of features such multi-level garden terraces, a cast-iron fireplace and traditional oak ceiling beams and will suit those looking for something different to the more common stripped-pine look. • Outstanding location! The house is very cute and full of character! The host had excellent communication and great local tips! My husband and I will deffo be returning!

    Lauren2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, lovely cottage. Highly recommended! Martin communicated well & we had a brilliant trip =]

    George2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Coniston for our Christmas break and Martin's property was the ideal place to stay for not only visiting the village and nearby Coniston Water but also the Lake District as a whole. Thanks to his instructions we found the property with no problems via the village's twisting roads. The view was lovely and overlooks the water as well as being encircled by the peaks. The cottage was very clean and well equipped but you are warned what to bring so there should be no surprises there. Our party loved the open fire too. Nearby is the Bull Inn which is the home of the Coniston Brewery which also served some decent pub grub. Real ale enthusiasts may also enjoy the Sun Hotel which served eight local beers. The food was less to be desired though. Down by the Water itself is the Bluebird Cafe which served excellent breakfast including Vegan. I would recommend Tarn Hows for a walk and just off it is the steep path to the lovely Tom Gill Waterall. Further afield we visited Ulverston with it's links to Laurel and Hardy, Windermere (try the bizarre Crafty Baa pub!) and Ambleside. Martin's communication was excellent at all times and the guide he supplied was very useful. An enjoyable Christmas in the lakes and I am missing that fire already!!!

    Tom2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and well equipped little cottage - a perfect base for exploring Coniston and the wider Lake District!!

    Andrew2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint and stylish cottage in a great walking distance location for coniston shops, cafes and pubs with striking views.

    Amy2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage with spectacular views of Coniston Lake. Nice traditional décor with open fire. Access is a little tricky when you first get there with the tight roads, but you get used to it and the views make up for it! The only slightly minor point is there are limited necessities such as toilet paper and kitchen foil, etc so make sure you bring some with you. The best local restaurant to eat at locally is called 'Steam'. Fantastic meal, great ambience and friendly staff. Also tried the Bull Inn which was ok but pricey for what you got, and the Sun Hotel which we tried twice but were turned away on both occasions because they weren't serving food! But all in all it was a great little cottage for a quiet getaway and within walking distance from the main local attractions. :)

    Christopher2019-10-11T00:00:00Z

Mountain Cottage dates back to the 19th century, and each owner has added something new this is evident in the quirky cottage you find today, some of our favourite features are: - Luxurious master bedroom with en suite and freestanding bath - Ideal for families, sleeping 5+ across three rooms; two doubles and a single room - Unique outdoor spaces from the balcony to The Rest and Pavilion to Belvedere, you'll have options for every moment - Cosy spaces with shuttered dining and living rooms.
The Bedrooms The Master: On the upper floor features a king sized bed; it is perfect for couples with a relaxed and open feel. This room tastefully decorated with recycled and quirky furniture and if you fancy a lazy morning in the place to be with en-suite and TV you can really get comfy! It’s original features such as the iron range and sash windows, combined with the large table and bench make it a great place to get everyone together for a family meal or board game session. It has everything you need; microwave, oven, four electric hobs, fridge with ice box and of course a dishwasher! The Outside Spaces The Belvedere: Coming from the Italian ‘bel’ beautiful and ‘vedere’ vision is exactly that. Situated high in the garden it commands a very admirable view of the lake which you can enjoy sipping wine on it’s balcony. This unique room was originally used as a reading room, and we have tried to keep this alive with a small desk, two comfy chairs and selection of books and art. The Pavilion: This suntrap just separated from the cottage is a great addition, with a table football, chalk wall, music system and games it is a great place for those wet days or an evenings entertainment away from the TV. The Rest: We know the Lakes isn’t always the driest place and The Rest (otherwise known as the bus shelter) is the perfect antidote to this; completely covered and with a heat lamp, you can enjoy drink outdoors overlooking the view in any weather! The Garden: Eating outside is one of those things which when done well is a joy, at Mountain Cottage the barbeque area offer a protected view of the lake whilst still featuring a large table and barbeque, perfect for summer evenings. The Toilet: conveniently just off the second and third bedrooms, it is does what it sets out to do! The En-suite: Whether you have been out for a long day hiking and want to soak in the bath or scrub up in the shower for dinner out, do so in style and comfort. New for this year: - Digital guidebook, with a interactive map of suggestions, easy to navigate information, clickable links to useful pages such as local events programs, available on and offline and integrated with language translation. - More games , I like to take a break from TV and my phone when away so we now have Monopoly, Cluedo, Uno, cards and my favourite Articulate. - Nutribullet, so you can start your day off activities off the best way possible with a fresh smoothie.
Located in on the outer edge of the famous South Lakes village of Coniston; Mountain Cottage offers both the convenience and facilities of the village whist maintaining rural charm; to the east the cottage faces green fields and onto lake Consiton whilst to the west stands the impressive Old Man of Coniston. We love the location as: - There are five pubs within 5 minutes walk - It's a 10 minutes walk to the shore of Coniston Water - The village has an abundance of cafes', shops and restaurants - It is 2.5 Miles to the summit of the Old Man - From the cottage you can trek the famous Cumbrian Way.
  • Beautiful little cottage. Warm, clean and tastefully decorated. Excellent location for Coniston Town Centre, Lake and Walks. At the base of the Old Man of Coniston so everything you need on your doorstep. Excellent communication from Will and Giles (the owners) who also sent us top tips for the cottage, town and walks before we arrived.

Our house is close to the centre of Coniston village, 2 mins walk from the shops, pubs and restaurants and a short stroll down to the lake. The house has quality furniture and fittings, we've taken time over everything, the wood burning stove, comfy beds and the modern well equipped kitchen. There's beautiful Dave Bretnall landscapes throughout and some unique leaded glass You can leave the car and walk everywhere if you wish. Our house is good for couples, families and one well behaved dog.
We created a house that is home from home, we wanted everyone to feel that the house provided high quality, comfortable accommodation that you can enjoy. Linen and towels are provided. We have really comfy sofas in the cosy lounge and there is plenty of seating for six people in the dining room. Theres garden furniture for everyone so you can dine alfresco when you want to. High speed infinity Internet and a smart TV allows you to relax indoors, we have a great selection of DVDs, books, maps and games. The kitchen is very well equipped with all necessary pots, pans, cookware , crockery and quality cutlery when you feel like dining in. There is even a full set of picnic plates, dishes, cups and cutlery for those BBQs. The stairs up to the first floor are very steep so care should be taken.
The house is located in a quiet residential road in the centre of the village. Shops, pubs, cafes are all a 2 minute walk away.

  • Brad’s place was very clean, cosy, and well maintained. The kitchen had everything we needed to self cater, and the house was a 3 minute walk from several shops to get supplies. The house was lovely and quiet with beautiful views to the mountains. The stairs are quite steep, but were no problem for us. We would happily recommend this place for families and would love to return again!

  • This is a charming cottage - exceptionally well equipped and in a great location very close to the centre of the delightful town of Coniston with its wide range of eateries (Steam Bistro is highly recommended) and shops. Brad is an excellent host who gave us really helpful information and advice before our visit regarding the local amenities, and the cottage was spotlessly clean. We shall happily return to this cottage in this wonderful part of the Lake District.

The apartments is fully equipped with everything you’d need and very spacious for a couple staying the weekend. Angela is a lovely, accommodating host and we’d be more than happy to stay here again in the future!

  • Our stay with Angela was fab! We couldn’t have asked for a better spot to enjoy our stay in Lake District and rest up after our hike up Scafell Pike. Angela was kind and welcoming and had some great local tips! The space was perfect, clean, comfortable and walking distance to many amenities. Thanks Angela!

Relax by the river, or stroll down to the lake.
Formed from the original wheelhouse, you enter at first floor level into a beamed entrance hall off which lie the 2 bedrooms and bathroom (with powerful pumped shower over bath). Quaint winding stairs lead down to a cosy living area where a low window-seat looks straight out onto pretty waterfalls.
  • A lovely cottage, overlooking Torver Beck. It was very warm which was pleasant to return to during a December week. So convenient for good local walks, including along Coniston Water into Coniston.

  • Great location, very nice cottage, good for families with kids.

  • Location, location location! The sound of the river rushing past the windows was idyllic and to be only 2 mins walk from the lakeside... what more could you ask for! You must walk up to Kelly Hall Tarn (in the visitors book!) the views are simply breathtaking and if you continue on past the tarn you will continue to be rewarded! The cottage itself is fab, so much character but with modern features to make your stay really comfortable.... our daughter loved to sit at the window seat watching the river race by. If you're into your cooking its a really lovely well stocked kitchen, everything feels very new. We would recommend this place for people who want breathtaking scenery on their doorstep.

  • We loved our stay here. The place was clean, cosy and comfortable and well equipped. Perfect for a peaceful, relaxing break. The location is beautiful. We enjoyed walking our dog, with beautiful views straight outside the door and the very short stroll to the lakeside was lovely where she could run off the lead too. We had a choice of pubs a short drive away (Torver and Coniston) with good food and dog friendly. Recommended.

  • Excellent location and super clean. I highly recommend Dipper Cottage.

    Fran2018-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Dipper and will definitely return. The location is amazing and the cottage has everything you need. It’s very clean and all the kitchen items you could need are there and brand new. Definitely recommend a stay!

  • Great location, especially the private lake side beach, perfect for a morning dip, breakfast in the sun or a sundowner in the evening. The 2 pubs in Torver were both great, approximately a 20-30 minute walk mainly on tracks and quiet roads, apart from the first 400m out of the cottage. The cottage facilities are good, laundry shared but 2 machines and 2 dryers so never had to wait. Dipper cottage has a lovely new kitchen and was lovely and warm even though we had a rather cold week weather wise. We hope to come back soon!
