Places to stay in Cohasset

Places to stay in Cohasset
Cute little apartment, separate from main house, available for a quiet relaxing retreat. On hill overlooking Prairie Lake on our large wooded property. In the country, but only 5 mins from town.
2 Bedrooms with full bath and full kitchen. Small living room with big couch and recliner chair. Deck with nice patio furniture to eat meals at. This is actually an above garage apartment, but since its entrance is at ground level in ‘back’ and has view of woods and lake…it feels like a cute little guest house / cabin! Main bedroom has queen sized bed and large closet. Small 2nd bedroom has bunk beds with twin on top and larger full mattress below. (Could handle 3 children easily.)
Area: Approx. 3 hours north of Minneapolis. Excellent location on the edge of the wilderness! Only 5 Miles from Grand Rapids: Restaurants and shopping are just minutes away back into town. Chippewa National Forest begins 8 miles the other direction - where one can go hiking, exploring, canoeing, boating, etc. in beautiful seclusion!
  • A wonderful place to stay.

  • Great hosts, great location, great dog. Definitely cannot go wrong here. We had the chance to walk on the lake and hike in the national forest/DNR land nearby. We loved it

  • Cozy place to stay and right off of a lake!

  • A nice quiet place to stay. Looking forward to returning in the summer.

  • This is our 3rd time visiting! It is a wonderful space. We will 100% be back for a 4th!

    Emelia2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Linda met us as we drove up and made us feel at home. This is a cozy little apartmentwith one good sized bedroom and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds. The bathroom is pretty big. The kitchen is on the small side - don't count on more than two people cooking at the same time - but it had everything we needed for a family of 4. Everything was very clean! There was only room for a very small table in the kitchen, but we opened the card table in the bigger bedroom and ate there and played games. It all worked out. In good weather there is a nice deck to use as the dining area. The beds were fine. We enjoyed all the snowshoeing in the area, and the view of the lake, and we will definately consider coming back up in the summer! Only two negatives. As mentioned elsewhere, the water smells of sulpher right now, which becomes less after it is run for a while. I wasn't terribly bothered by it. Second, the internet connectivity was spotty inside the apartment due to a weak signal from the router. Cell service was good for AT&T.

The apt is just a block away from a local brewery, wine bar and shopping. Plus, a bonus every morning of wonderful aromas of fresh baked goods from the coffee shop below. Highly recommend this place.

**Early check-in & late-check out included January to April!** Explore the Northwoods from this prime location. Ideally located for year-round adventure & outfitted for kicking back after a long day outside. Tioga MTB trails and beaches just a 1/2 mile away. Paddle or boat to Lake Pokegema & Mississippi River from our lake access. Excellent hiking, snowshoeing, XC ski trails, breweries, live music, bike shops & coffee within 15 minutes. *For 2020 Bookings - See note below*
**COVID 19 POLICIES** We are still taking reservations. In addition to following best cleaning practices, we are blocking 4 days between all reservations for the health and safety of our guests, cleaning crew, and community. Reports indicated that the virus can survive on surfaces for three days. --- *Note for 2020 Bookings - This property will have additional cabins in the large field area starting in June of 2020* --- We love the simple design of this house. It has an 'Up North' feel with lots of natural wood and modern Scandinavian style decor. The layout is comfortable for groups of up to seven people. The master bedroom is located on the ground level and has a large closet and a quality queen bed. The upper level is a spacious sleeping area that's divided into a bedroom and a lounge/sleeping area by barn-style sliding doors. The bedroom has a queen bed and the lounge/sleeping area has a twin bunk and full-size sleeper sofa. The bedrooms have ample space for your group to bring in all of your gear if you're biking, kayaking, fishing, or here for a long-term stay. The screened-in porch and the fire pit out front amongst the trees are two of our favorite spots. Other outdoor amenities include a charcoal BBQ, an enclosed outdoor shower, and a big lawn for games. Inside you'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay- a fully stocked kitchen, extra linens, quality mattresses, plenty of towels, a 55" 4K Smart TV, and games. The basement has a washer and dryer and space to store your bikes and equipment. We have a dock for sunset watching and keeping your boat. Our lake access is quite shallow and good for kayakers and paddleboarders. We don't have a good swimming area, but Tioga Beach and Tioga Pit are just a half-mile away and they are two of the best spots to swim. You can drop your boat in at our access or the nearby Pokegema Lake access. We have lots of space for camping and RVs. If your group is interested, please inquire about our policies. Boats and Equipment We have two kayaks, a few sets of snowshoes and various sizes of classic style cross-country skis available for guests to use. We have dock space for your boat or you can rent our pontoon for $180/day (includes fuel.) Inquire about renting fat-tire bikes. Pontoon rental available for $180/day.
The location is our favorite part of this property. You're so close to the best outdoor recreation activities in the region and you're less than 10 minutes to downtown Grand Rapids and Cohasset for groceries, a night out, or catching some live music.
  • Such a nice and cozy place. Perfect for a girls weekend away and also perfect for a family outing. The top floor is a perfect set up for either! Great location and beautiful views.

  • Great place! We loved staying here and would definitely stay here again. Recommend 100%!

    Andrew2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time skiing over at Mt Itasca. The place was great and had a very functional layout for a family.

    David2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place - manages to be both cozy and spacious at the same time. Had everything we needed - and then some - in the kitchen. Private location with a massive yard - had a great time playing all day in the snow. Has a basement entrance to contain all our snow gear. Seating for our family of six both at the kitchen table and in the living room (which is not always the case even with places that sleep six). Looks brand new and is impeccably clean. Wonderful radiant floor heat. Conveniently located close to Grand Rapids. Highly recommend this place. Very good value for the price. Emily is a great host.

    Ann2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay! The rooms available are great but the quiet location is awesome and close to a lot of trails, etc.

    Shawn2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place for any time of the year! The snow covered trees were magical. The space was super clean. We had everything we needed for celebrating the holiday with family. The location was perfect.

    Carol2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, loved every single thing!!

    Amanda2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Location! Location! Location! In an area where there are not very many rentals, Emily’s lake house is a breath of fresh air! We spent a week here and had everything we needed for cooking, lounging, and sleeping. The location was perfect with plenty of room from neighbors but super convenient to Grand Rapids or Cohasset if you need to go shopping. Highly recommend.

  • This was a flawless stay. We were within walking distance of everywhere we needed to be. The easy check in made it a quick process which was great bc I had a lot to do for my mom’s surprise party. We’ll be back.

    Lacey2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Far superior to staying in a hotel—amazing value, spacious, unique, welcoming, great coffee bar, and so much more. We have stayed here twice now and can’t wait to return.

  • My second stay was better than the first! This home continues to impress. Their second floor is under construction and should be a wonderful addition to the home. I love their location as we walked to the downtown mall, local shops, the post office and the super one foods.

  • Fantastic place to stay in Grand Rapids! Wonderful hosts! It was such a cozy spot. Thank you!

    Chrissy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at DocHouse Suite’s place numerous times. There is definitely a reason I continue to return to my “home away from home.” Every time I have the pleasure of staying at this AirBNB it’s always an amazing experience. The hosts go above and beyond to take care of their guests every time. I honestly - can’t wait to return. ❤️

    Tara2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great and cozy place to stay! The place was ready for us to go before check in time, we were greeted with some goodies left for us on the table, and the hosts even checked in on us after night 1 to make sure we had everything we needed! You are so close to everything in the old downtown (highly recommend the UnWined restaurant!) and the apartment will truly make you feel relaxed and comfortable. The kitchen is also really well stocked with utensils if you want to stay in for a night or two and cook something up. Great place! Great hosts!

    Saskia2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the well stocked coffee bar!! The entire space was great; well appointed, clean, homey and very welcoming. We plan to stay again next time we're in the area.

  • Great cabin and just as advertised. Even though we got hit with a mid-April blizzard we made the most of it. Loved building an outdoor fire in the fire pit. Very clean and comfortable accommodations. Tim was very responsive and even warned me about the impending storm. Thank you, Tim & Monica, and I would absolutely stay here again!

  • Due to very unhappy circumstances, our out-of-state family members had to come to Grand Rapids because our mother’s failing health. We were very fortunate to have found such charming and comfortable accommodations in such a short notice. The house is very clean, nicely decorated, and quite spacious. Plus, you can’t beat the nightly rate. We were close to the main street which led to loads of great places to eat, and the house had ample off street parking available for our rentals. Kami and Jeff are very easy to contact and always responded quickly. They are kind and considerate as well. Under happier circumstances, we will definitely come back to stay when we are in the area again. Highly recommended!!!

Our private peninsula has been a Northwoods destination since the 1950's when Mallard Point Resort opened. Although the resort days are over, the cabin tradition lives on here at The Point. This is one of two cabins that have been completely renovated into cozy guest houses and stocked with everything you need for a lakeside getaway. Enjoy staying right on the water with 330° views of quiet Prairie Lake. It feels away from it all, but you're minutes from town.
**COVID 19 POLICIES** We are still taking reservations. In addition to following best cleaning practices, we are blocking 4 days between all reservations for the health and safety of our guests, cleaning crew, and community. Reports indicated that the virus can survive on surfaces for three days. --- Cabin 1 is one of two guest houses for rent on our property. This cozy, lakeside cabin features high ceilings and natural light all day long. Large windows in the living area look out onto the lake. The water is so close, guests have said it feels like being on a houseboat. The loft has a quality king-sized bed and the ground floor bedroom has two double beds. It’s is a combination of modern and rustic, with warm, natural wood finishes, an open living and dining space, and a kitchen and bathroom stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Roku connected TV allows you to connect to your own streaming services (we do not have basic service, it is streaming only) and we have fast, reliable WiFi. Cabin 1 is slightly smaller than Cabin 2 and has dining for four. It's winterized and available year around so you can curl up by the fireplace and warm your toes after skiing or with a good book after a long week of work. Pontoon available for $220/day ($110/half day) Friday through Sunday, fuel included, self-captained. What we love about it We have the best of both worlds- we're on the lake, but close to town. It's just 10 minutes to downtown Grand Rapids. Being located on a peninsula also means that we have lakeshore on either side instead of neighbors! The Point was a resort in years passed and it still has a resort feel to it today, just smaller, slower-paced and more peaceful. Each cabin has its own firepit and charcoal grill in front, but otherwise all outdoor are shared. You can expect to see other guests or our family enjoying the beach, grilling out, or fishing on the dock. The surrounding area has exceptional XC ski trails within 15 minutes. We also groom our own circuit on the lake. You can access snowmobiling trails directly from our property via the lake. Prairie Lake is quiet and has little boat traffic, perfect for paddling and fishing. Visit the rocky gorge, reminiscent of the Boundary Waters, at the south end of the lake, take in sunrises and lake breezes on the dock, and enjoy watching beavers swim past and listening to the loons sing. The water is shallow and gradual along our little sand beach, perfect for small children to splash and build sand castles. Property Amenities: ⇸ Two kayaks ⇸ Two paddle boards ⇸ Canoe ⇸ Swim raft ⇸ Boat trailer parking ⇸ Dock space for boats ⇸ Fire pits and firewood ⇸ Lawn chairs ⇸ Life jackets, ⇸ Picnic tables ⇸ Lawn games We're also willing to take guests out windsurfing, waterskiing, and sailing. Ask us about rates and scheduling.
Although the expansive lake views give the feeling of seclusion, we're just five miles from shops and dining in downtown Grand Rapids to the south and less than 10 miles from the National Forest to the north. Entrance to the Taconite Trail and Mesabi Trail, one of the longest paved trails in the nation, is less than two miles away. Access to numerous, well-maintained cross-country ski trails within 15 minutes. Direct access to the nearest snowmobile trail via the lake. The bait shop, convenience store and public boat access are just a half mile away.
  • Clean cabin, AMAZING location, and the host, Emily, is absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be back!

  • Wonderful place. Has everything you need! Cozy too..

    Nic2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay at the cabin, so it goes without saying that we love it! I know a cabin is tempting for the summertime, but don’t miss out on renting in the winter! It was the coziest weekend here, snowshoeing across the lake and then reading by the ‘fire’ the rest of the day! Stay here, you’ll love it!

    Jade2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a delightful little cabin. It was clean, cozy, comfortable, and we'll appointed. The ability to log into our own services on the Roku TV was a great touch. The hosts were friendly and responsive. This is a great choice if you are looking for a getaway to the lake.

    Michael2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great cabin. Everything was just what I expected. Emily was a great hostess and extended kindness and thoughtfulness. I highly recommend this place .

    Elaine2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Emily goes above and beyond to make sure you feel welcomed! Cozy place right on a peninsula!

    Steven2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, this place was perfect!! I was pleasantly surprised by everything that exceeded my expectations. Very large space, well appointed, every conceivable convenience, super comfortable bed, fireplace, GREAT view, a television with all the streaming channels I subscribe to available, and 2nd bedroom with two bed that I will hope to use for my kids on a return trip! One of my best Airbnb experiences to date, thank you so much Emily!

This private space is in the lower level of our home, in a woodsy setting up north. Full sized windows provide natural lighting and great viewing of the wildlife. Guest have 2-room bedroom suite with 2 double beds, 2 bathrooms with showers, and a small kitchen/living room. Additional sleeping accommodations may be available for small groups. There is a swimming beach within walking distance, and many good fishing lakes nearby.
This is a rustic but comfortable living area with a fully equipped kitchen. Hundreds of acres around us provide perfect wildlife habitat. The deer are naturally curious, and have been known to peek in the windows while you are peeking out. It is common to see pileated woodpeckers, gray fox, and hear the wolves eerie howling late at night. Of course, we have our share of songbirds, raccoons and skunks, too! In all seasons the tile floors allow you to sneak in for a cup of coffee without de-booting!
Very private setting with opportunity to enjoy nature, and yet only about 15 miles from the closest Target store (Grand Rapids). This is a rural residential neighborhood. There is a lake just down the road and the swimming beach is a short hike from the house. A great alternative to a motel if you are in the area for work or play!
  • Terry is a wonderful host. She greeted us, left fruit and snacks for us during our stay. The space was large, comfortable and clean. Definitely will stay again. The location to snowmobiling is perfect.

    Carla2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Terry was so thoughtful. She gave us a tour and pointed out extra linens. She provided cold cereal for the morning and a plate of cookies for a night time snack.

    Amanda2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice, quiet, relaxing place. Deer, woodpeckers, etc. are abundant. Great hospitality. Very nice 'homey' touches. A great value.

  • Very thoughtful hostess , accurate description of her place. It was warm and inviting and I enjoyed my stay.

    Elaine2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures don’t do it justice! This was a great place to stay, clean, nice extra touches, and Terry and Bob were very thoughtful. We stayed with our 8 month old twins and despite crummy weather most of the week we were able to relax and have a nice vacation. Terry was easy to communicate with and gave really great directions on how to get to their place! It was convenient to get to Grand Rapids for activities and stores. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone!

    Amy2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • A very nice out-of-the-way place with great amenities. If you want peace and quiet, definitely the place to go. It was half way between two of my favorite lakes and worked out very well.

    Dick2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend. We appreciated having 2 bathrooms, we enjoyed watching the deer up close, observing the humming birds, and sitting by the fire and star-gazing at night!

    Maria2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable in a beautiful setting. Deer played in front of our window, we saw lots of birds and took a nice walk to a nearby lake (in Minnesota there’s always a nearby lake😊)

This charming little red cabin is nestled by 100 year old pine trees and sits on a beautiful, level lot hosting its own private dock and beach. Newly renovated with care. Very comfortable, cozy and warm. Everything you need to enjoy life at the lake. Just bring your boat and the food. The cabin has an outdoor lavatory (ok, a newly refreshed outhouse) and brand new shower room. Consider it an adventure to live like they did 100 years ago on beautiful Pokegama Lake. Extended stays welcome.
If you are looking for a peaceful get away for two, this is your place! One of the most desirable parts of Pokegama Lake, Stony Point is 3 minutes to restaurants, a gas station and a convenience store. All tar roads and ten minutes from town. See the the home of Judy Garland or visit the Forest History Center. Old Central School has shops you won't want to miss. The Little Red Cabin's charm and history are alive in every room. You won't want to leave, trust me!
Stony Point is a small community of homes on a peninsula. It is a quite area with it's oldest cabin still standing from 1912. Home owners are friendly and welcome visitors who appreciate the lake as much as they do.

  • This little cabin is a true gem! Mary Jo has done such a great job making updates that feel clean and fresh, while staying true to the spirit of the original space. The lake is gorgeous and crystal clear, and the beach and fire area are perfect and sweet. Everything was clean and ready to go, and the host met us outside as we drove up to give us a tour. Mary Jo is a delight, and super responsive.

    Jennifer2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Let me start by saying that I have lived in and explored three different continents, and this place is by far the most beautiful and magical place I have ever stayed in. The sunsets are surreal, Laying on the dock or private beach was so peaceful. we stayed for 4 days and were genuinely very sad to leave, to the point of tears! Thank you Mary Jo for allowing us to experience your little piece of heaven. Thank you for your hospitality! We hope to return soon. Max

    Makhtar2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I’d give this 6 stars if I could. The cabin and experience were fantastic. The cabin was clean, updated, yet still had the charm you’d hope for in a cabin on the lake. Everything from the yard, to the dock, & to the picnic tables were in great shape and very well maintained. The ‘outhouse’ and shower were clean & modern. The property has waterfront electricity to charge my boat overnight which was also very convenient. Mary Jo & Jim were friendly, helpful, and quick to respond to any questions. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Peaceful and beautiful. Great fishing lake, beach front for swimming, bonfire pits near lake front with chairs, stacked wood is handy, and did I say quiet. Dont forget they have BBQ's for use. But you're not far from Cohasset or Grand Rapids. Tim is always near to lend a hand if needed. Kitchen has everything but remember to bring your towels, dish cloths, and toiletries. Two bedrooms are nice and there is a fold out couch. TV, wifi and air or heater if needed.

    Ahmed2018-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this cabin for my sister and my daughter. I wish I could have stayed myself since they had a wonderful stay there. Tim was very easy to communicate with and made things very simple for me! My sister and daughter said the cabin was very clean, really cozy, and had everything they needed for their stay. They especially loved having the dock out front to relax on and enjoy the lake. If they would have had more time they would have done a few more things on the lake. They had a very nice time and said they'd love to stay again some time. Me too, hopefully!!! Thanks so much Tim!!

    Kelly2018-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The lake, the dock for a boat, the BBQ grill, the new updated cabin, the comfy beds, ample storage for your clothes, a full range kitchen, wi-fi, TV ... who could ask for more. Close to Grand Rapids, MN and easy to find. Relaxing and so quiet! The only thing we didn't do was have a bonfire but there is a place for it. You will not regret staying at these cabins. I was in cabin 4. All cabins are close to the lake. You will love it like we did. The hosts were awesome.

    Colleen2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really loved this cabin. Tim was an amazing host! Everything exceeded expecations - wonderfully furnished and clean cabin with AC, plenty of green space for fun, volleyball net, campfire, grill, boat dock, water toys, etc. Tim has pontoons and boats available to rent and he was very helpful in assisting us with docking - he was always around to lend a helping hand. The lake has a ton of great fish - northerns and walleye. There is even a fish room where we were able to prepare the fish that we caught. He also had kayaks and paddle boats available for use - this would be a great place for kids. The location is perfect too, not far from the city with restaurants and bait shops. If you're looking for a relaxing nature getaway, this is the place for you!

Our lake cabin is on a private lake with no public access (Please note, we do not have a boat landing for guests to bring their own boats due to our steep hill). We are near numerous snowmobile/ATV trails, many beautiful lakes, and the Chippewa National Forest. We have 250 feet of lakeshore and over 30 acres of hunting land across County Road 65. Our cabin is on over 4 acres, plenty of room to relax. We have a boathouse, dock, two kayaks, a small boat and motor, and a bonfire chiminea.
  • If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, fun, romantic, cozy place...look no further!!! This was the perfect cabin for it all, and you cannot ask for better hosts!! From the moment we pulled into the driveway, we could tell this was going to be the perfect weekend. Their large wooden swing sits atop a small hill overlooking the lake to the East! We took in the early morning, gorgeous sunrises, as we watched the swans swimming and early morning deer getting a drink, from the serene, still lake. You see all nature, as there are very few other cabins on this lake! We walked into a very well as-situated, welcoming, warm cabin. It felt as though we were walking into our very own place...it has everything you should need/want...just bring your food! (They even had a keurig with several blends of coffee/hot chocolate and some oatmeal mixes!). They have games, movies, great books to read, and a nice, small, wood burning fireplace...lots of seating...just very cozy, comfortable and complete. Cook in the full kitchen or do it all outdoors on their propane grill and eat at the picnic table! Afterwards, a nice fire in their chiminea. They also had 2 kayaks a canoe, and a small fishing boat...for me, this tipped the scales! And you will not regret heading out on the lake to watch the sunset!! Overall, this place was far more than worth it in so many ways, and at a very affordable rate! Karen and Lee were top notch hosts! They were very easy to communicate with, and obviously know what their guests want and need! Thank you two, for sharing your place! We hope to be back again soon!

    Jason2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin exceeded my expectations. We loved the extra touches Karen & Lee did for us. It was our first time using airbnb and will definitely be using it again. We loved taking the boat and kayaks out whenever. The lake was like a sheet of glass all weekend. We ended up loving the view so much in the room where you walk in with the tv, that we ended up sleeping there on the pullout couch. No service there unless you go out to the road but we liked that! A good get away from everything. I did especially wanted to point out that we loved how clean and organized it was. We really appreciate it. P.s. loved the keurig! Thanks again!

  • Quiet, secluded cabin right on a beautiful lake. A very beautiful place to spend a weekend and enjoy the summer out on the water in one of the SUPs, canoes or paddle boats down by the dock. Rebecca is an excellent host and went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of.

  • Quaint and cozy place and just right for 4. Beautiful lake and great hospitality.

    Jamey2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic get away place. The cabin was perfectly cozy for two, right next to the lake, in a quiet setting with lots of opportunity for exploration. Rebecca and Rob were very sweet and generous - they even let us borrow their bikes one day to explore farther than our feet were taking us! We didn't end up using the canoe, for which they supplied life jackets, since we brought SUPS, but that would have been another great adventure. The cabin was simple, which suited us perfectly.

    Brandie2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin located in the woods of Chippewa National Forest and on the lake, perfect get away for a holiday. This place and people have special place in our hearts forever. Rebecca is a wonderful host, at no point my wife and I felt like we were guests. The whole family welcomed us as their own and treated us like one of their own. We are definitely going back again to spend more time. I recommend this place one hundred percent.

Our private peninsula has been a Northwoods destination since the 1950's when Mallard Point Resort opened. Although the resort days are over, the cabin tradition lives on here at The Point. These two cabins have been completely renovated into cozy little guest houses and stocked with everything you need for a lakeside getaway. Enjoy staying right on the water with 330° views of quiet Prairie Lake. It feels away from it all, but you're minutes from town. *Price is for both cabins, not for each.*
**COVID 19 POLICIES** We are still taking reservations. In addition to following best cleaning practices, we are blocking 4 days between all reservations for the health and safety of our guests, cleaning crew, and community. Reports indicated that the virus can survive on surfaces for three days. --- Our two cozy, lakeside cabins sit side-by-side along the lakeshore. They feature natural light all day long, with high ceilings and large windows that look out onto the water. The water is so close that guests have said it feels like being on a houseboat. Each cabin has a loft with a quality king-sized bed and two double beds in the lower level bedroom. Together the cabins sleep up to 10 people. Cabin 1 sleeps 4 and has a dining table for 4. Cabin 2 has a slightly larger living and kitchen area with a dining table that accommodates 6, beds for 4, and space for a queen air mattress. It’s is a combination of modern and rustic, with warm, natural wood finishes, an open living and dining space, and a kitchen and bathroom stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is no TV, but games and puzzles are provided and you can connect your own devices to our super-fast WiFi. They are winterized and available all winter so you can curl up by the fireplace and warm your toes after skiing or with a good book after a long week of work.
  • My family and I booked Emily's twin cabins for a late Christmas celebration. Our stay was incredibly comfortable. Check in was a breeze and Emily was available for anything we needed during our stay. The cabins are stocked with pretty much everything you could need. We cooked a large family meal and were impressed by how many pots, pans and accessories the kitchen had. The beds were incredibly comfortable- we all slept very well! I would love to come back in the summer and take advantage of the beautiful lake views and water activities!

  • We rented out both the cabins for 4 days. It was really hard to leave on our last day. Emily and her family had everything ready for us when we arrived. They were so nice! I can’t express enough how beautiful the property is. You are surrounded by the lake. And the kids really enjoyed the beach area. We would definitely love to come back.

    Diane2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time. It is a fantastic location and was perfect for our family. There were plenty of activities for all ages. Emily is a wonderful host and I recommend staying there 100%.

  • We had a great family weekend here. Beach was perfect for kiddos and it was nice having 2 cabins to spread out in. They also had perfect weather for us! We loved it!!! Thank you everything Emily and family!

    Rebecca2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabins were the perfect location for a reunion with nine of my college friends. Emily and her family were great hosts. Here are a few things that stood out from our stay: -Warm greeting when we arrived- Emily let us know to call or text with any problem and reassured us that it was okay to make noise at night (we were a little worried about the size of our group and the fact that the cabins were located right next to their home, but Emily put us at ease and truly respected our privacy) -The floating raft had some bird droppings on it so they kayaked out to first thing in the morning to clean it off so it was ready to go for our day in the sun! -When we got locked out of one of the cabins Emily texted back right away and facilitated getting us in asap -The cabins were super clean and cute. Well stocked kitchens and grilling space (we stayed there 3 nights and cooked all of our meals). Good sound system. -The king sized bed in the second cabin was SO comfortable. Good sleeping spaces. -Enjoyed the games and outdoor equipment like the kayaks. Beautiful grounds. Nice to be right on the lake. Highly recommend.

  • Where do I begin? Being from the Minneapolis area, we began looking for wedding venues over a year ago. We looked as far as Wisconsin and Iowa. We knew right away that this was our place based on how friendly and helpful Emily’s first response was. She suggested many local resources to help in our wedding planning before we even asked. We stayed in direct communication for an entire year and Emily was always quick to respond to any questions. I can’t emphasize enough how obvious it was that she cared about helping make our wedding day special. And special it was...perfect is a better descriptive word. It was absolutely a magical weekend. We ended up getting married on their point surrounded by the beautiful lake. No detail was too big nor too small for Emily and family to help with. They truly made their home feel like ours. If you’re looking for a wedding venue or just some time to get away and relax, look no further. This is your spot. We most definitely plan to go back and visit often to reminisce about our special time there. We will also stay in touch with Emily in case there are questions that we could help with in your event planning. Thank you Emily from the bottom of our hearts in helping to make our wedding one of the most amazing and memorable moments of our lives! -Eric-

Our family home is warm, comfortable and welcoming. We have a seven-year old daughter, a sweet-hearted border collie, and an affectionate cat. We love to cook and eat tasty food and adventure in our beautiful Northern Minnesota surrounds!
We live right in town, just North of downtown. The shops are walkable, groceries at Super One Foods or a natural foods store are bike-able.
We live just blocks from downtown Grand Rapids. Brewed Awakenings is our favorite local coffee shop. The Central School has fun shops and an Aveda beauty salon. On Wednesday nights and first Friday evenings, there is excellent live jazz at the VFW, which is a safe evening walk with friends or alone. (Welcome to small town living!) The Reif Center is also just blocks away, and has many terrific music and theatrical acts, local, and national. Third Thursdays at The Reif are some of our hippest evenings out around here.
  • From beginning to end, this was an effortless stay. If we are back in the area we will certainly stay again!

    Carla2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great stay! Hosts were so respectful of my space and time. When I wanted to just come in and go to my room they respected that, and when I was more talkative, they were so engaging. And I couldn't believe how quiet they were in the morning getting ready to go to school and work, even with a young person in the house. And their dog Tuilip is extra special if you're a dog-lover, and will leave you alone if you're not. Great place to stay!

Our breakfasts are amazing, made with eggs from our hens and produce from our garden. I bake my own bread from scratch, as well as muffins, cornbread and other delights. Or you can try the fresh eggs and a sampling of fresh fruit. We have toys for traveling children and our dogs, Louie and Rosemary, love attention. Swim in the aqua-colored waters, take in beautiful sunsets or relax next to a bonfire on this level, west-facing property on Sugar Lake (Siseebakwet Lake), a hidden gem of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The tongue-in-groove cabin offers a main space that functions as a kitchen, dining room and sleeping quarters that can accommodate 2 people comfortably and 4 people cozily. Kayaks are included in the rental. Pontoon rental is an additional cost, please inquire for details.
The level lot is great for yard games and accommodating additional guests. The bonfire pit is set less than 5 feet from the shoreline which provides for full enjoyment of star gazing in the warmth of the fire. The Sugar Lake area is exquisite in all that it offers: lake recreation, fishing, a sunken island, sand bars, Bike/ATV/hunting/ski/snowmobile trails and an 18-hole golf course with a restaurant which overlooks the lake. Whether you are coming for relaxation or recreation, you can find it all here!
Nestled into the Southeast bank of the lake, this lake-level lot is great for fun in the sun, yard games and a feeling of openness and serenity.
  • Great, cute place on the lake with a quiet atmosphere. Great setting for yard games, fires, swimming with kids, finding shells, and general lake life. The cabin is small, as expected, but we only used it to sleep and store our gear - but very clean and welcoming. Cooked on the grill outside. Enjoyed the super clean lake. Easy to get to from the Cities.

    Shawn2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed the experience. It was a very nice place and the lake was beautiful.

    Destiny2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Sugar Sanctuary was an awesome getaway nestled next to one of the clearest lakes in MN. My 7 and 10 year olds had a blast on the private shoreline and dock. Water was only about knee deep 10 yards from shore, which was a +. Most necessities such as plates, utensils, coffee, shampoo, towels, hand soap, and toilet paper were included. There was even free WiFi, and ample supply of firewood. We rented the pontoon and Brad was even nice enough to give a tutorial. Overall, the description was accurate, Sugar Sanctuary exceeded our expectations, and Brad was an excellent host!

    Shu2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a weekend trip. Sugar lake is beautiful and the cabin has everything we needed to relax and cook after a day on the water. We really enjoyed having the grill and kayaks on site and overall was a very fun time.

    Joe2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing stay at Sugar Lake Sanctuary. My fiancé gifted me the solo trip up north to recharge & reset between job transitions, and it was exactly what I needed. Siseebakwet Lake is quiet, peaceful & stunningly clear. The shore is sandy & rocky, the bottom of the lake around the dock is also sandy & without weeds, just some sporadic rocks and clams. The water was about knee high at the end of the dock & stayed shallow quite a way out; I walked out until it was waist high and swam and floated there. There are neighbors on both sides of the property that live there, so there was a small amount of neighbor noise but none of it was bothersome. The property is a 5-10 minute drive from Hwy 169, so there’s very little vehicle noise aside from boats & passing cars, and it’s just 15-20 minutes away from Grand Rapids in case you need to run to the store. The bed was on the medium-firm side & the pillows were comfy and supportive. The kitchenette is stocked with a small dorm fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hot plate, toaster, plates, glasses, mugs & cutlery. There was sunscreen, bug-spray, body wash & shampoo available in case it was needed, and towels provided for the shower. There is a patio bar, table & high chairs next to the cabin, and regular outdoor chairs by the campfire. No chaise lounge, so if you want to lounge, bring your own. There’s plenty of room for tents on the property if you’re bringing more than just yourself and a partner/small children. All in all, I was very happy with my visit and would recommend to anyone!

  • We had a great stay at the cabin. The location in the fall is fantastic and access to the fire pits and lake made for little reason to leave the property during our visit. The owner of the property is responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay again. Our only nitpick would be to suggest that they update some of their bedding and linens to really knock it out of the park.

The house also has a full size deck in the back yard with a table and chairs come summer.
We are excited to have you stay in our family home. This non-smoking house has two bathrooms, one that is newly remodeled, both of which have nice full-sized showers in them. The basement bathroom also has a jacuzzi tub. In the garage there is an eliptical if you are interested in doing a work out, and the house has wifi and cable television.
The neighborhood is a nice, quiet and safe location that has a lot of friendly neighbors. We are a few blocks away from the fairgrounds, Ice Lake, and the start of the Mesabi bike trail. We also are in walking distance of the Grand Rapids middle school, and just over a mile from the high school. It is a great location if you are attending events at any of these locations, and yet we are only a 5 minute drive to most restaurants, bars and coffee shops in town.

  • Betsy was very quick to respond and gave us a few specific accommodations due to our travel schedule. The home was large and everything she said it would be. Our family of 9 had plenty of room and then kids especially enjoyed the oversized jacuzzi tub!!! We were able to function as we needed while being away from home for the holidays. We will stay again. Excellent value.

  • I’m so glad I found this house! Betsy was wonderful to work with and the place was fantastic! Four girlfriends got away for a few days and this home worked out perfect. We each had our own spotlessly clean bedroom, beautiful bathrooms, a huge kitchen to cook in, and a very comfortable living room to enjoy movies. We were even able to park our car in the garage so we didn’t have to clean off the snow in the morning. Thank you Betsy. If we come to Grand Rapids again we will contact you first!

  • Great rustic cabin. Location to the water is awesome. Dock and boat house area is nice clean concrete. Water is the perfect depth for swimming.

  • We stayed in Cabin # 1 for a quick girls weekend. It was a "rustic" and seasoned older cabin but clean and simple. We had everything we needed. It was nice to have our own grill and a few extra lawn chairs provided. Great location and a perfect quiet get away on a beautiful lake. Leisha was great to work with and promptly communicated everything we needed to know. It's great to see an older classic Minnesota resort still in operation! Great value in my opinion!
