Places to stay in Berriedale
Blingery Cottage welcomes all including your dog. A traditional cottage which has been sympathetically renovated and is very comfortable. It is situated in a peaceful setting which boasts panoramic views of Caithness and the farm ... and its resident sheep and highland cattle. A wood burning stove creates the perfect atmosphere (logs provided) & you're welcomed with tea/coffee, milk & biscuits. A lovely and relaxing country retreat with an abundance of wide open space, peace and quiet.
Sitting in the midst of acres of open farmland, Blingery (rhymes with "gingery") is a peaceful and relaxing 'get away from it all' cottage. It is approx 300 metres from the main farm with access via a track passable by 2 wheel drive vehicles. The accommodation is on 1 level and consists of an open-plan kitchen, dining, living room, with a sofa bed and a wood burner (Logs are provided PLEASE don't burn coal). The bedroom has a zip/link super king-size bed which can be made up as 2 singles if preferred. There is a good size bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash-hand basin.
The nearest town of Wick has a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants. It also has an attractive harbour, commercial airport and a railway station. Ferries run from Scrabster, near Thurso and Gills Bay, west of John O' Groats to Orkney, which is well worth a visit. Caithness is a well established agricultural area, fringed to the north and east by dramatic coastal scenery. Away from the coast, the landscape is dominated by scattered settlements, open moorland and blanket bog known as the Flow Country. Caithness is held in very high regard by salmon and trout fishermen.
  • Our stay in the cottage was wonderful. Thanks for everything, the house was equipped wich much more than what we were expecting. We are looking forward to coming back.

My self catering flat stands in my family’s Sutherland croft, on a hill approximately 153 metres above sea level. The property is compact and cosy, with electric central heating, and it is my priority that visitors have everything they need for a comfortable stay. The lounge/kitchen area is fully equipped with hob, oven, microwave, toaster, steamer, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher, pots, crockery, cutlery, table and chairs, Sky TV, Wi-Fi being installed, comfortable sofa-bed and armchair. The bedroom has a kingsize bed, and ample wardrobe storage. For the shower and washbasin, I have provided Arran Aromatics lovely hand- and body-wash products to relax and soothe you. Because this is a highland home, I have kept a certain sense of tradition in the decor, with a variety of plaid fabrics, and some old photographs and objects which I hope you will enjoy looking at. You may browse a selection of books by a diversity of Scottish authors. The views are amazing. From the front windows, the Moray Firth in all its moods leads the eye south west to the distant Cairngorms, or the vast open horizon of the North Sea. On the other sides, the views are framed by some of the oldest hills in Europe. Once mighty Alps, the passage of time and ice ages have worn these to gentler slopes of fractured volcanic rock. Thinly coated in peat and heather, they are the very private habitat of such fauna as grouse, stoat, and hare, and the equally public domain of seasonally grazing sheep, cattle and growing numbers of red and roe deer. You might simply be a bird of passage, staying briefly here while travelling to or from the Northern isles of Orkney and Shetland, or experiencing the wonderful North Coast 500 route. On the other hand, you might want to make this your base for a while, as you explore the area known as the ‘Common Grazings’ - 1011 hectares of wild hillsides, which reach almost to my back door. With wildlife spotting, fishing for tasty little brown trout in a nearby burn, finding examples of iron age archaeology, or simply strolling through the glorious spaciousness, where you’ll rarely encounter another human being, you might not want to travel much further during your entire stay, than down to the village of Helmsdale for supplies, souvenirs or eating out. Being only about half a mile from the A9, it is also easy to base yourself here, and travel up the Strath of Kildonan to the North Coast, follow the East Coast to John O’ Groats, or take a day trip across to Ullapool and the West. Close to hand, Helmsdale village (3 minutes away by car, 20 on foot) has a heritage centre (Timespan) with a riverside cafe. On the main street visitors will further find two restaurants, a takeaway, two bars, a mini market, a gift shop and an old-fashioned ironmonger’s store. Helmsdale also offers golf, river and sea fishing opportunities. Visitors may travel here by car, bike, train, bus or, of course, on foot! I can arrange collection from the train station or bus stop. If you plan driving here in the winter months, I strongly recommend winter tyres. My driveway is rather rough, though everyone seems to manage, driving carefully. No matter when you plan to visit, remember this really IS the great outdoors, so bring weatherproof clothing and footwear, and midge/tick repellant in the summer. I am not a professional linguist, but I speak some French, Italian, German and Polish. I look forward to welcoming you to The Stroops!

This cosy bunkhouse is attached to our stone-built croft house which looks out from the hill, over the beautiful expanse of sea in front. Ideal for those one-stop sleepovers. Great when touring the NC500 or as a night’s stop-off on the way to or from Orkney. Its location means that you not only benefit from the amazing views over the Moray Firth and Helmsdale Village & Harbour but also from the relaxing and tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding countryside.
Our cosy bunkhouse provides comfortable, homely accommodation with all you require for a short stay. We have designed it with your relaxation in mind. The Scottish-themed soft furnishings gives it a real 'Highland Retreat' feel whilst, on a practical level, we have also included everything you require to just arrive and relax: - The kitchenette, with seating area, has a microwave (with grill), kettle, toaster and fridge and has all the essentials you need from crockery and cutlery to salt and pepper. Lovely warm spacious home in the heart of the Helmsdale Village. Close to all local amenities - shops, restaurants, pubs and Cafe. Lovely sights within a stones throw - the harbour, the famous Helmsdale River, golf course and many walks for all fitness abilities. Comfortable well equipped accommodation for families, groups, couples or individuals. An ideal stopover on the North Coast 500 route for weary travellers to relax and unwind in a peaceful location.
Historic house built in the early 1900's and fully modernised. I've tried to keep it as true to original as possible. Please bear in mind there is only 1 bathroom as en-suites weren't the rage when this was built! However, the shower pressure is excellent. The kitchen is large and boasts an 8 burner range cooker and American fridge freezer. Please cook or bake to your hearts content. There is super fast fibre broadband WiFi throughout the property. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video on some of the TVs.
Helmsdale is a small friendly village set in a peaceful location with stunning views. There’s plenty to see and do - beach walks, gold panning, fishing, shooting, mountain and trail walks and a lot of wildlife around too. Helmsdale is a Sutherland coastal village steeped in history and with a strong maritime tradition. The village boasts a good level of local amenities for both visitors and residents. The area has an association with Viking history and attracts a great many tourists. The village is renowned for its gold panning at Kildonan and the Timespan visitor attraction depicts the regions diverse history.  The village has approximately 750 inhabitants and is one of the main centres of population in Sutherland. It also has an excellent links golf course and is in easy reach of the famous course at Royal Dornoch which lies to the south. The region is also renowned for its whisky production, with distilleries in Brora, Wick and Tain.  Slightly further afield the Falls of Shin and Dunrobin Castle provide an interesting day out. Touring and genealogy are other favourite pastimes, together with the prospect to visit nearby Scottish castles and other historic sites. These attractions combined with the varied natural scenic beauty of the surrounding area make it highly popular with a wide range of visitors and tourists. For the outdoor enthusiast the Highlands of Scotland are famous for spectacular scenery and rugged mountains, a reputation which is comfortably upheld by Helmsdale. The wonderful un-spoilt scenery of the famous coastline and surrounding hills combine to make this a most attractive area.  For walkers the beautiful Sutherland terrain offers varied degrees of challenge from the more leisurely hillwalking to more stretching mountaineering. A wide range of birdlife attracts the ornithologist and the area has a huge appeal to the naturalist. The local rivers appeal to large numbers of sports fishermen looking to net trout or salmon.

Hello Folks My name is Brenda and I'd be delighted to welcome you to my traditional B&B in the small fishing village of Lybster. I've been running it for many years - it's been a wonderful "job" whilst bringing up my two girls. They have flown the nest now, and convinced me to get with the times on the internet so ... here I am! The price is £32 for single guests, £55 for two guests, and includes a continental breakfast. A full Scottish is £5 per person. Enjoy your holidays! Brenda
The B&B is a Victorian stone-built house, traditionally decorated with 3 letting rooms. One is en-suite, the other two share a bathroom.
Lybster is a small fishing village on the east coast of Caithness - the North Coast 500 route. It's 11 miles south of Wick where there is an airport and a train station. We are in the heart of the village, close to all local amenities including the golf course, bowling green, local businesses and picturesque harbour.
  • I stayed with Brenda in my way to Orkney. We had a lovely conversation at breakfast and as a result I had a fascinating morning visiting the nearby Neolithic sites.

    Lulu2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a great host! She’s great for communicating with you prior to your stay and so thoughtful! She contacted me to let me know about places to eat in the area and was so concerned when my car broke down on route. Definetly would reccomend booking in, very representative of the hospitality and friendly nature of the locals on the Northeast Coast!

    Charlie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have been allowed to use the suite. This was nicely focused. TV, kettle, coffee / tea and a nice bed. Neat bathroom and clean towels. We also had a nice chat with Brenda and her daughter, very friendly people who certainly give good tips about what to do in the area! Highly recommended.

    Anne2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda's place was the perfect stop whilst I was walking the John o' Groats trail. From the warm, friendly welcome, lots of character to the house, to kind thoughtful touches such as drying walking boots overnight and offering a lift to the pub for dinner. This is an ideal place to stay for walkers and cyclists

    Caroline2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • For me, Brenda is definitely a super host. After a log day’s cycling her warm welcome, concern for my well being and refreshments made a very pleasant end to the day. I had an excellent night’s sleep in a quiet, spacious room and, for a small extra cost, a delicious, cooked breakfast. The house is fascinating as an example of a traditional town house and is surprisingly larger than expected. I thoroughly recommend staying at Brenda’s, she made me feel at home and treated me like a house guest.

    Robert2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is a very nice host. We spent one night in a cozy house with a soul. It felt like we were in a movie or in a book of Jane Austen. Everything was perfect. Comfortable bed was a nice end of the day full of experiences. Highly recommended!

    Marta2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful home and a really lovely host! Highly recommended.

    Máté2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • When you enter in Brendas house, you have a flashback of some 80 years at least. It's a living museum. Old furniture, beautiful china, big old house full with the history of a family. I prefer much more this than standardised and sterile hotel rooms. Brenda gave is a very warm welcome and helped us a lot to organise the rest of our trip.

    Ian2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed at Bradley’s place, a returning client should be enough for anyone to see its great value and a great place to stay. We will be returning again in time. Thank you Bradley.

    Ian2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Just wanted to say again, thank you for letting us enjoy your fantastic property. Was an exceptional stay - and we have stayed in a lot of properties around the world! Everything anyone would need for a shirt stay and the little touches were five star. The offer of fresh eggs from the family chickens, the tea and coffee, etc - nice! When we first read the property had been given a high rate for cleanliness, we thought it would be clean - the place was beyond spotless. We could only give you five stars for your location/furnishings/cleanliness - the view!! We would have gladly given you much more. We look forward to putting your property on our must stay again list, for when we are back in the County! Be proud of your efforts.

    Shaun2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Bradley is a very nice young man, who has made a fantastic luxury space which is self sufficient from the main house. Views of the sea from the living room is totally awesome. He called in to give us information for things to do in the area and brought fresh eggs from his chickens, which was a nice touch. We would love to stay there again.

  • Very nice apartment in an ideal position to stop on the road to the north At the bottom of a dirt road but quietly passable, very quiet, silent Clean and tidy As another guest has already noted, there is no controlled heating but with the electric fireplace I found myself perfectly well

    Norma2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so amazing! Spacious bedroom, nicely renovated bathroom, and beautiful ocean view from living room. Plus garden and patio all for yourself. You will love staying here. Bradley is super friendly and full of helpful local tips. Highly recommend.

Relaxing and comfortable crofters cottage on the Helmsdale strath, great view, wildlife and walks or just relax by the fire. Comfortable accommodation for families, couples or individuals.
The cottage is in an idilic setting on the Helmsdale strath, close to the village of Helmsdale and the renowned north coast 500 (NC500) tourist route.
It’s a fairly remote but close knit community in the far north and pretty much everyone is friendly. There’s plenty to see and do in the area, beach walks, gold panning, fishing, shooting, mountain and trail walks and a lot of wildlife around too
  • This is a beautiful getaway if you want to be in a stunning place away from everything. We went to write and needed a space with no distractions as well as a nice break for our dog. We only just adopted her after fostering for 5 months and the River Helmsdale was a brilliant place to let her off lead for the first time. She is normally reactive on the lead but we did meet one or two dogs that she was extremely friendly with. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to test this with her and it made our stay very relaxing to have a relaxed dog. Nearby we visited Brora beach a few times and took advantage of the Co-Op because the Spar in Helmsdale is very expensive and limited on options. The garden was nothing special, more of a hill in the back with short stone walls so do not come here relying on having a garden but there are brilliant places to walk. We stayed warm with the heaters but it does make the house stuffy and dry so I recommend taking some hot water bottles so you do not need to rely on the heating too much :)

    Leanne2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy crofters cottage with everything you will need. The kitchen is small but well appointed and has everything needed to cook meals etc. The bed in the master bedroom is super comfy! The TV does not access terrestrial TV but does have a DVD player and an excellent selection of DVDs. If you are taking a dog, there is no secure garden/area therefore you would need to keep them on a lead if they don't recall. Overall a very comfortable stay in a lovely area and we would stay again.

Moments off the A9, on the famous North Coast 500 road, this stunning cottage has the most amazing views in Dunbeath. New to the holiday let market and tastefully decorated the two bedroom property is a fantastic base for enjoying time in the area as families, friends or if you simply need a night away! The living room with its fireplace is cosy in the winter months for enjoying a dram, yet in summer months the patio doors open onto the decking where you can make use of the BBq!
With a fully equipped kitchen , TV, Bluetooth speaker and gas BBQ- the owners really have tried to think of everything. You will recieve a personal welcome to this property and the owners really will take care of you! The bedrooms are both double beds- perfect for couples or for friends/ families who are happy to share! One well behaved pet allowed on discussion. This property is just off the main Scrabster to Inveress bus route, however we do always recommend travelling by car, as getting around in this area without a car isn't the easiest! The property also has a lockable space available outside the property. Perfect for anyone travelling with bikes, canoes, fishing rods etc. Guests love this property due to the breathtaking views and having a place to completely switch off. You won't be disappointed when staying here! What's to do in the area? The cottage is located in close proximity to the village of Dunbeath which is best known as the birthplace of the famous author Neil Gunn. In the village there is a small peaceful harbour and beach and the beautiful Dunbeath strath which his novel Highland River is based on . You will also find a post office, spar shop and the highly recommended Bay Owl restaurant. The cottage overlooks the Dunbeath Bay and over to Dunbeath Castle which it’s world famous gardens are open by appointment. There is also Lhaidhay croft museum, heritage centre and historic broch. As the cottage is part of a working farm, horses, cattle, sheep, dogs and pet lambs can be seen on the farm The cottage is close to the A9 and is only a 2 hour drive from Inverness airport and is only a half hour drive from Wick airport and the Orkney Island ferry terminals at Gills Bay and Scrabster. It is an excellent centre for walking, cycling, surfing, kayaking, hill walking, golfing, archaeology, bird watching and especially the magnificent puffin colony that can be seen from the farm’s cliff tops. Attractions 15 mins Whaligoe steps Camster cairns Yarrows archaeology trail 30 mins Castle of Mey John o Groats Pultney distillery Dunnet Head and sands 45 minutes Dunrobin Castle Glenmorangie Distillery Falls of Shin visitor centre
  • The house is beautiful and the location is stunning but what made it extra special was the warmth of the welcome. This is a fascinating part of the country with so much to discover and we’re very glad we unexpectedly pitched up here. Cella’s response to our late request was swift and welcoming and everything in the house was perfect. Elspeth and William helped us settle in and gave us excellent ideas for exploring the treasures of an under appreciated area.

    Linda2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We used this immaculate cottage as a stop on the NC500 route It is a very quaint well equipped converted barn which is beautifully done The owners are lovely Loads of parking and located on its own on a small good access road with open fields around it Great coastal views Loved it

    Peter2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is truly beautiful, lot's of love and care has gone into the accommodation. Elspeth and William's hospitality is exceptional, they truly want to make sure your stay is perfect. Elspeth had put some wonderful thoughtful touches all around the cottage and when we checked in was super helpful plus got the log burner going for us. The outside seating is amazing and has great views of the sea, unfortunately it was wet and cold when we arrived so we didn't have the luxury of sitting outside to gaze at the sea and the stars. The bathroom and shower is fabulous also the beds are comfy. I would highly recommend booking and for more than one night if there is availability. We were driving the NC500 and didn't have the time to stopover for that long, however we will definitely book again if in the area.

  • This place is a jewel. From the outside it seems typical but inside it warms your heart. It feels very cosy and welcoming. Everything you need is available, plentiful and in tip top condition. Each utensil lies in perfect order. Personal treats and pleasant surprises are all over. The styiling makes you feel at home (after the cleaning lady left and before the kids returned). Views are lovely. The owners are very pleasant and provided some useful local tips. We wished we have stayed for longer. Highly recommended.

    Sefi2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this cottage. It is very clean, is nice & cosy and has a great view on the sea. But even more importantly, the hospitality from the owners is amazing. We were given a personal tour of the cottage. We also got some homemade cookies, homemade marmalade, eggs from the farm for our breakfast... There was even a fire prepared. We just had to light it and we could sit back & relax. Our son was also welcomed & the owner showed us some toys for him to play with. We also got some tips for things to do around the area & on the phone bedoel our arrival we were asked if we needed booking for a restaurant. Definitely one of the warmest welcomes we ever had in an AirBnB! We highly recommend this cottage and would love to come back some day.

    Joost2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This property is an unexpected gem boasting magnificent coastline views from a newly renovated stone cottage. The family that owns the cottage live in a farmhouse nearby and provide five star Scottish hospitality and kindness. We could not have asked for more.

Welcome to our family home! We have horses, barn cats and a small dog. We offer warm Highland hospitality and a chance to meet the natives! Guests are welcome to use our spacious lounge with log burning stove in privacy, or join us for tea and chat in our kitchen. Whilst we are happy for guests to heat up and prepare pre-purchased food in our kitchen, we cannot provide cooking facilities.
Occumster is a small area which has a few scattered houses. It's the perfect location to unwind and escape from people and cars! The village of Lybster is two miles away and has a hotel and shop or the town of Wick is ten miles away and has a larger selection of eateries and shops.
  • Katrina's house is in a great location, just a bit off the track but the ideal place to unwind or explore the area. The room is lovely, the bed is comfy, the hospitality is friendly & warm. The breakfast is continental with heaps of choice. Katrina will go out of her way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

    Sue2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • In a rural setting, Katrina’s place offered a quiet and peaceful location. The bed room was spacious and the large on suite was spotless. Katrina was very welcoming and her tips on places to visit were much appreciated. She provided a nice continental breakfast and refreshments and a fridge in the room was great. Would definitely recommend Katrina’s

  • An absolutely ideal stopover for cyclists doing JOGLE/NC500. Quiet and comfy space to relax and recoup, with a hot shower, tea making facilities in the room (and a great stash of biscuits), and a comfy bed. Stuart and Katrina were really warm and welcoming, yet happy to leave you to relax during your stay. Spot on.

    Dave2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great staying at Katrina’s! The accommodation is very cosy and clean and Katrina is very friendly. Occumster is a quiet and more isolated place, the location was anyway quite strategic for us, since we were walking the John O’Groats Trail.

    Nina2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • A great place in a great location, spotlessly clean, quiet, with a large bathroom. Breakfast was more than sufficient, which was very important for my always-hungry teenage son. I definitely recommend and would stay again any time! And the doggie is just lovely! 🙂

It is central to travel right up to John O'Groats but near enough to get to Inverness or the Isle of Sky and everything in between. The area is peaceful and the neighbours are so friendly. It is a joy to stay there.

  • Elspeth's place is situated on a working farm just off the road in Dunbeath. Quiet and comfortable bedroom that had a tea kettle and snacks. Plus Elspeth recommended a great restaurant down the street, Bay Owl, and even offered to take us there and back if we wanted to have some drinks! Wonderful hospitality from her and her parent's who also live there. Her mom cooks a super good breakfast as well; and you get to look at the cows/ocean in the morning!

    David2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great welcome with super home baking and friendliness. Good breakfast and a surprise bonus of sandwiches for my lunch!

    Richard2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing family. We were made very welcome from the first moment. A lovely, warm family environment. Extremely clean and comfortable (like a home from home). The whole family went above and beyond what we had expected. This was our first experience using AirBnB and I was a little apprehensive. However, we were welcomed with open arms (and cakes) and I would definitely recommend a stay here. We so look forward to returning and staying in this beautiful part of Scotland with Elspeth and her family 😊

    Allison2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay with a great family. The room was peaceful , spotless and comfortable and home made jam and marmalade at breakfast. Great local knowledge which helped us find out about our connections to the area. We saw some stunning gardens that we would have missed if Elspeth hadn’t arranged for us to see them. Great local food at the Bay Owl in too.

This unique traditional fishermans cottage situated at the picturesque harbour in the seaside village of Helmsdale has been elegantly upgraded to create an idyllic Highland home placed on the A9 and tourist route NC500. Tarbat View is a well proportioned 2 double bedroom cottage with many original features and has high ceilings not usually seen in a cottage. Helmsdale is a picture postcard village on the north east coast of Sutherland on the A9 and along the NC500 route. The village has amenities such as grocery store, library, 9-hole golf course, Timespan museum and local history archive, pubs, restaurants and medical centre all within walking distance from the cottage. A friendly and active community, the area is renowned for its beautiful scenery, the quality of fishing and availability of fresh seafood and crabs from the local fishing boats makes Helmsdale a popular holiday location.
  • A lovely cottage, in a great location in a lovely village with lovely views out to sea. Very comfortable, clean and warm, with lots of nice thoughtful touches that you appreciate when you are away on holiday. A great base to travel out from on days trips to the North, West or South.

History The first written reference to the people of this area, at the end of the first century AD comes from the Roman historian Tacitus, who described the people as tall, red headed men who fought bravely with long swords and round shields. St Ninian came here about 390 AD and preached at Navidale. Where the old church yard now stands there was a chapel which was burned down during the Reformation in 1556. Helmsdale came under the Parish of Kildonan which gets its name from the pictich word Kil or Cill or Cell, this meaning the cell of St Donan, patron saint of the Strath, from 580 AD. Christianity, however, came under attack in the 9th century when the Vikings began their raids into the North of Scotland. Tharfin the Great conquered Scotland down to the Moray Firth, and certain cairns and standing stones are said to mark the sites of many ferocious and bloody battles. It was at Helmsdale (from the Norse Hjalmundal Dale of the Helmet) that a great battle took place between two Nors chiefs Swein and Olvir Rosta. Swein won a great victory and Olvir's men retreated to some houses which were burned with all their inmates. Olvir escaped by crossing the Helmsdale river and was not heard again. Swein and his men committed many ravages in Sutherland before returning to their ships. As the Vikings mixed with the native population, the clan system evolved and the way of life changed little from century to century. There were periods of blood and strife mainly caused by lust for land and cattle. The chieftain had power of pit and gallows over all men and yet was regarded by his clansmen as protector and father figure. Helmsdale Castle The Couper Park is the site where the Helmsdale Castle once stood. Although, alas it became a rapidly crumbling ruin and was completely demolished in the early 1970s to make way for the new A9 road bridge over the Helmsdale River.
  • Lovely house and rooms. So nice to arrive to an open fire all cosy and warm. Tasteful decoration and very clean throughout. Easy to find central location yet nice and quiet. Plenty of parking. Helmsdale is a beautiful and historic village with plenty to see and do. Shame we never got to meet Ronnie or Rosie in person - hopefully next time! Thoroughly recommend.

The room itself was very cozy — I haven’t had that good of a sleep in a while! Kitchen was fully equipped (coffee and French press, too). Very happy with the stay. Thank you!

  • A room inside a little house with a little dated decor but the kindness and hospitality of the landlady make everything pass in the background. Only the kitchen we found a little "greasy" but nevertheless we arranged for the better and better. I recommend it for a one-night stopover because there is nothing really in the country

Situated 4 miles southwest of Wick, Blingery (pronounced 'gingery') House was originally built as a shooting lodge. The house, of a traditional stone and slate construction, has far-reaching views of Blingery Farmland surrounded by sheep and Highland cattle. It has a large, private rear garden and ample parking. Traditional in style, Blingery House boasts some lovely original features and open fires and is ideal for guests seeking a peaceful, get-away-from-it-all location. A super weekend break.
The accommodation is set over 2 floors. The ground floor consists of a well equipped dining-kitchen, 2 comfortable reception rooms and a sunny garden room. Also on this floor, there is a large twin bedroom with a sofa and feature fireplace and a newly fitted wet-room with shower, WC, wash-hand basin and underfloor heating. On the first floor there are 2 characterful double bedrooms. These are served by a further bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash-hand basin.
  • Amazing stay in a fantastic house! All the rooms were lovely and there was so much space

    Stephanie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • An impressive and imposing residence surrounded by farmland. We loved the grand manor feel of it and the gardens are lovely, well designed and cared for. It is quite an experience staying here. A step back into Pride And Prejudice. It was lot of fun. Great for big groups and families. Too big for just one couple but a large family or two or three, perfect!

    Judy2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 adults and 5 children have just spent a week at Blingery. The house is extremely clean and has all the needed for a nice week away, a home from home. The location couldn't be better, in the middle of nowhere, away from the city. Only us and fields full animals. Perfect for exploring the Scottish coastline. Would definitely recommend the place.

    Glenn2019-08-31T00:00:00Z

The rate we got it at was a total bargain and I didn’t meet her but the farm manager was apparently very helpful. Lovely garden too. Thank you!
