Sawmill Treehouse

LuciaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a lovely time at the Sawmill Treehouse - the perfect winter getaway for a long weekend. The house is beautifully designed and very luxurious. Just the right amount of staples (seasonings, oil, milk and plenty of tea) in the pantry/fridge that made cooking each night effortless, and also lots of thoughtful touches (a bottle of wine, some chocolates, etc) that made our stay feel special. The location is a bit out of the way but not super private - the surrounding residential properties are quite close. Worth noting that the house has heating but the living space was a little cool in the winter weather, and that there’s no curtain to the big living room window (if privacy is a concern). Lovely stay, would highly recommend!

The Lookout by Mt Bellevue - Amazing Views

Samasha TRating, 5 stars2 months ago
I had a fantastic stay at this Airbnb! The place was clean, cozy, and exactly as described in the listing. The breathtaking views were definitely the highlight—waking up to that scenery every morning was unforgettable. The location was peaceful and relaxing, yet still close to everything I needed. The host was friendly and responsive, making the whole experience smooth and easy. The only minor issue was the water pressure, which was really slow, but it didn’t take away from the overall great stay. I’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a scenic and comfortable getaway.

My friends and I had an amazing stay! The house was incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything we needed. The host was kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. The home was even more stunning in person than in the photos. We’d absolutely love to stay here again!

Riverview Retreat

DaniRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Beautiful, super clean and spacious shack in a peaceful and private location. Beds were sooo comfy, well equipped kitchen and the fireplace was cosy. We enjoyed the walking tracks down to the river with the dogs and sitting on the deck with a wine in the evenings looking over the river.

Your guide to Porepunkah

All About Porepunkah

Just five kilometres northwest of Bright on Great Alpine Road, Porepunkah is a laid-back village with easy access to the High Country, offering an array of year-round activities and outdoor experiences under big skies. Porepunkah is nestled at the base of Mount Buffalo, which dominates the southern skyline and delights adventure seekers with forested trails leading to epic lookouts and crystal clear waterfalls. The entry point to the rolling Buckland Valley, the village is a favourite among families, offering a river pool in the summer months, where visitors can float leisurely in a tyre, cool off with a swim, or launch a canoe.

Several vineyards and wineries in the area provide stunning views of Mount Buffalo and the surrounding valley, while the slow, gentle waters of the Ovens and Buckland rivers are popular with swimmers, fishers, and kayakers. Porepunkah is the nearest town to Mount Buffalo National Park, home to a wealth of outdoor activities, including year-round hiking and biking trails. Carpets of wildflowers bloom during the warmer months, and tobogganing and skiing are popular here during the winter. Keen cyclists enjoy pedalling to Bright or Myrtleford on the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and sampling fresh farm gate produce along the way.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Porepunkah

Porepunkah is a year-round destination, but if you’re looking for more room to explore and all-around pleasant weather, April to May and October to December are great times to visit. Summer sees the hottest temperatures. And with the most daylight hours in December, visitors have even more time to enjoy the fantastic views over the Alps from the Gorge in Mount Buffalo National Park. The beautiful colors of autumn are on full display during the Bright Autumn Festival with its market, live music, and a parade starting in the last week of April. Winter months bring colder temperatures and skiers looking to enjoy the slopes and snow-blanketed trails of the surrounding Australian Alps. The month of August tends to be the wettest time of year, so be prepared if you’re planning a day’s hiking or biking.

Murray to Mountains Rail Trail
