Beachfront holiday rental in Pavones

fantastic small house with tranquil and almost abandoned beach at the end of the Costa Rica, just friendly reminder, if you’re not renting the whole house owner is staying downstairs, which was not problem at all

We loved staying again! The location is perfect for us - both on the beautiful beach, and near the point. The house is set up just right to enjoy with friends with large gathering spaces, and still have some space of your own. We appreciate the care taken before arrival - the house is spotless, and has a homey feel with coffee and staples to get you started. Thank you for another terrific extended stay! We'll see you again!

The location is great, few doors down to a supermarket and few restaurants. The property is beachfront and private. It’s more worth than what I paid for. Ana is a really nice person and eager to help. I’ll be back!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this exceptional property. Everything was just as we anticipated the staff was kind and thoughtful. Luis one of grounds keepers was especially nice and even help my 7 and 6 yr old pick fresh mangos most days. Friendly Horses visited us each morning grazing on the property grounds. Will definitely be back to enjoy this property in the future.

From the drive to the house, to the views of the ocean, to the sound of nature…. Magical place. Felt seriously sad when we left. Kim is really responsive and helpful!

Amazing peaceful house surrounded by nature right in front of matapalo surf point. Very peaceful, lots of animals during the day and during the night. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom are very nice.

2nd stay for us this year was for 3 weeks and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Beautiful cabin in the middle of the jungle, monkeys and birds seen from the bed. With hikes around in a totally beautiful and conserved environment, we rode with Paulo, an excellent guide who gave us an unforgettable experience

Absolutely amazing this home is! For a surfer it’s heaven. Located near the point at Pavones it’s a short walk to an easy paddle out at the point and let the current take you the length of the wave. Also centrally located where you either walk across the river or bridge to the local town center or market and few restaurants that are in town. Loved the random dog showing up to say hi too! The property is like a jungle setting. Gorgeous! The home was big enough for my teenagers and young adult kids to roam around and feel at home. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean as well! The kitchen was perfect using gas rather than electric portable stoves too. There also was an outdoor bbq which we used almost everyday. When in the jungle surfing all day it was an absolute joy to cool off in the pool! Overall an amazing stay at this paradise of a home!!! If it’s available this sanctuary will be top of my list of places to stay in Pavones!!! Paraiso Pura vida!!!!!!!!!

Magical and thoughtfully designed spaces in a tranquil area away from the surf crowd but just a short drive away from more populous areas if you wish. Yoga deck is perfect and looks out to Golfo Dulce so you can listen to waves as you flow. 💯% recommend.

Paz is a special place and Roberto is a wonderful host. The floor to ceiling screens in the living room/dining room situate you right in the secondary forest. Heaven for nature loving bird nerds. If you’ve spent time on the Osa before, you know Howler monkeys wake you at 4:30am. We watched howler, spider, and squirrel monkeys from bed. The beach is a minute walk. A covered porch with hammocks and chairs to enjoy the beautiful Gulfo Dulce. And a small pool to cool off in (key) and watch Macaws, capuchin monkeys, hermit crabs & the waves. We bought groceries in Puerto Jimenez and cooked most of meals for the week. Kitchen has big fridge, sharp knives, and worked well for us. Marluna Lodge (5 min drive) for Taco Tuesday. Visited local surf breaks and surfed the right point break out front of Paz. Tide dependent. Roberto can help you figure it out. Roberto was very attentive, warm, and helpful. He’s created a beautiful space in a beautiful part of the world.

We absolutely loved our stay here. It was the perfect place to unwind and truly be together as a family. The animal life was incredible. We woke up to monkeys in the morning and playing throughout the day just outside the house. Both john and Oscar were super helpful and friendly. And if you have a chance to have Jackson’s cook- she was incredible. If you’re in for a rustic, full of nature, full family time then this is your place! Also don’t miss out on scheduling a horseback ride with Carlos at finca tropical! It surpassed our expectations and my husband used to guide horseback rides in Colorado. Enjoy the time together and this charming place in Cabo matopalo!

This was our family’s 5th trip to Pavones . We like to try different places and locations . Giselle’s home was beautiful , spacious and very comfortable. We had a smaller group and it didn’t feel overwhelming as it’s a big place . Outdoor spaces were amazing , and a quick walk to essentially a private beach . (Only saw 1 person over 8 days ) a short walk to La Pina restaurant for a pizza or dinner and only 3-5 minutes from various spots near Pavones point. I will say this was perhaps the most well equipped kitchen and linens we have experienced yet . Oliver the caretaker was quite helpful and his English is fair . Overall a very positive experience. Perfect place right on Backwash bay. Great place to be for surfing and exploring. Kitchen had all the necessities to cook anything you wanted to. Downstairs shower was bright, open and felt just like showering in the jungle. Nice hot water on the lower level as well. Property was very clean and maintained which is important while staying in the jungle. Thanks Sandy!

We loved our stay here. It’s beautiful and quiet. Just a heads up when people say you need a 4x4, YOU DO! The roads are rough! And don’t go at night! We had a hard time finding it, But once you get there it’s glorious! Never worried about animals coming in. What an experience! Would come back again but next time we’ll bring some games.

Came here with my family of four and another family of three. It was a great place to stay and everyone was very comfortable. We saw spider monkeys right out front, rented boogie boards and enjoyed the delicious breakfasts. We would definitely stay here again on a trip down to Pavones.

Conveniently located in a neighborhood between the two most popular surf breaks in the area. Supermarket and great restaurant nearby. Casa Lua is a studio-type layout and was perfect for my needs as a solo traveler. Air condition works well and wifi connection is strong. Everything went well, pura vida

How wonderful it was again. Really such a beautiful paradise on earth. The birds, the animals the flowers, the sea. Nearby is great for horseback riding, or hiking, dreaming, picking up a yoga class. You feel welcome right away and the food is great. What's also very nice is to do a jungle tour, really surprising. I often go horseback riding on my own, but also without experience you can make a wonderful jungle trip with a guide. And on the fishing trip I did, I caught a hefty tuna and saw dozens of rays of jumping out of the water and seeing big groups of dolphins. Really very cool. Rancho Burica is absolutely recommended as far as I am concerned.

We had a very nice stay with Joanna with our two children. House, garden and the proximity to the beach are fantastic. Highly recommended especially for families! However, the location shown in the advertisement does not correspond to reality, which is why we had great problems finding the property.

We had a great stay. Alex was there to welcome us upon our late check in. Throughout our 6 night stay, the host was available, responsive, and attentive to any issues or questions we had. The location was walkable to the beach, multiple restaurants, and surf shop. The host runs a pizza shop downstairs which we strongly recommend.

Great. Definitely of the best spots in Playa Zancudo And it allowed us to be with the dogs, which was what we were looking for

Probably the most beautiful home in Zancudo. The pool was amazing. The bedrooms have AC. Very private and the views are awesome. The owners were very pleasant. I would definitely come back!

Incredible location in an incredible town at the end of the road. Amazing host! 10/10! The beach and jungle grip your heart. Access to the river, surfing, and animals (we didn’t see monkeys but lots of birds) was all we needed. It’s helpful understand there is a shop and restaurant but they only carry basic packaged goods and cartons of milk and rarely a whole chicken. The restaurant had one meal (casada) which may or may not appeal (chicken/fish, rice, sides). There is very little else here unless you rent a car and drive to Pavones. But once you acclimate, you’ll find this place is extremely rich in an expat community happy to help (even taking your debit card to another city two hours away to help you draw cash) and locals are friendly + willing to provide services (babysitting, pedicures, horse farm owners, and surf instructors). Your casita will be a central spot for all this adventure to flex your entrepreneurial spirit. The host graciously made sure we had an amazing setup here!
