Family-friendly holiday rentals in Old Town, San Diego

Lydia was a very responsive host and was really easy to communicate with. We were a little skeptical because we knew we would be staying on the property where she lived with her family and were worried about privacy but the cabin is very private and although we naturally bumped into Lydia and her husband a few times, they did not spend any time out their back yard (where the cabin is located) for the duration of our stay so we had the place and the yard pretty much to ourselves which was great. We didn't realize how far away we would be from shops and restaurants. It is about a 20 minute walk to the nearby town so we did spend a lot of money on ubers but that was our own fault for not doing our research beforehand. Overall Lydias place is very clean and had everything we needed for our stay, she even had some stuff in the fridge and cleaning products which was really convenient. Thank you Lydia for a lovely stay.

We enjoyed our stay with our 2 kiddos. Easily walkable to the beach and restaurants (Azucar is a MUST for coffee/pastries) and it was awesome having the wagon and beach chairs. Hot tub was great.

Amazing stay at La casita !! Scott was an amazing host , had a binder of stuff to do locally and super attentive ! Will definitely be staying at La casita soon again

The VIEWS!!! Absolutely breathtaking. We could’ve spent the entire trip just soaking in that ocean view—it was seriously next-level. From sunrise to sunset, it was pure magic. We absolutely loved Kate’s place and Kate herself! She was the best host we’ve ever had. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and had such a fun, quirky charm that made it feel like a hidden gem. The bed was insanely comfortable, the robes were perfectly cozy, and the coffee? Delicious. The art supplies and hot tub facing the ocean were truly to die for—I didn’t even want to leave to explore San Diego because I was so content right there. We slept with the back door open to hear the waves crash all night long and let the ocean breeze in. The neighborhood felt super safe and had such a great vibe. We already know we’ll be back to see Kate every year. No doubt about it.

Amazing stay and very well decorated unit with beautiful view. The place feels very cozy and homey and it has everything that you need. Will definitely stay there again

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a great central location and easy to Uber around to wherever we wanted to travel to each day in San Diego. The hot tub wasn’t super clean but the house was spotless. The WiFi was spotty which wasn’t ideal but thankfully we weren’t on a business trip. The host was very responsive and did help us out with sourcing an iron and ironing board which we needed for the wedding we were in town for. They were super accommodating which we were grateful for!

We loved our stay here, the location was perfect and there were so many extra beach items for us to use. It’s a cute, cozy and safe home in walking distance to so many great places. Andrea and Larry were great, we would love to come stay again sometime!

We enjoyed our stay @Mike's place- phenomenal customer service, place was clean, peaceful and comfortable. They provide everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay- the location was perfect- so many local eateries with vegan options near by. Overall it was a wonderful space - we highly recommend and would definitely stay here again when visiting SD. Thanks again Mike and your lovely wife for shipping our very important belongings- we appreciate you'll from the bottom of pur heart's- told you they were awesome!!

Located in a great neighborhood, within walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping. Also close to downtown and the airport. Plenty of on street parking. Owners were communicative and responsive.

I very much enjoyed my stay. The apartment was in a great area and I was able to walk to the two main events I came to town for. Lots of other good restaurants and shops nearby in walking distance as well. Camila was very helpful and responsive at all times. The apartment was very comfortable and clean and the neighborhood is very nice. Would love to stay here again!

David is exactly what the reviews said about his responsiveness. My family and I can say this was our best experience ever in San Diego. We felt at home and this experience made it easy for my wife and I to conclude that when traveling with our young kids, we would be better off reserving an airbnb with a great host like David. We had a wonderful stay at this cozy little cottage! The space was thoughtfully stocked with common personal care and household items—perfect for those little things you might forget while traveling. We also really appreciated the extra touches like snacks and coffee, which made us feel right at home. One of the best parts was how accommodating the hosts were to our fur babies—it’s always a relief to find a truly pet-friendly spot. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay!

Tiny but very comfortable beach spot! Feels very private and safe and I loved the little carriage house doors that open to the parking spot. No kitchen and limited storage so this is better for a short stay which was perfect for us. 15-20min walk to downtown OB, we did not need to drive at all! Thank you :)

Can’t beat the location! Evan’s place was a perfect home base to explore Little Italy and the rest of San Diego. Garage was an added bonus so we knew we could safely park the rental car. The apartment was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed.

We had a fabulous time at the Granny Flat! Everything was pristine and Kristen has thought of every amenity. She was kind and responsive. We loved the peaceful backyard with gorgeous views. The location is super convenient and a max of 25-30 mins to anywhere else in the SD area. Our pups had a great time, too! Would love to stay here again!

We are so grateful to have been able to stay at Gwynn's place, it is so peaceful and lovely. Like a secret garden getaway. We loved all the small touches, and beauty of the space. Gwynn made us feel very welcome and comfortable! The pool is amazing and the outdoor spaces are delightful. Can't wait to stay here again.

I was looking for a peaceful and comfortable place to relax and recharge and this fit perfectly. Anita and Brian are great hosts, friendly and helpful but still respected my privacy. The setting is also beautifully landscaped and the deck was great to have for relaxing and enjoying the water view. I can highly recommend.

A perfect place for our family during our short stay in San Diego. Clean, comfortable, conveniently located and excellent value. Teri also went above and beyond and we really appreciated her proactive help.

Anthony’s apartment was just what I needed for my adult son and me. 2 twin beds in the living room worked well as another bedroom without the cost of a 2 bedroom. The kitchen is small but had all we needed to make bfast in the mornings. Helpful to have a parking spot in back and washer dryer in unit. I really enjoyed the location next to an urban park, pretty neighborhood for walks, and short walk to restaurants and coffee shop. Anthony was super helpful when we arrived.

Quiet location, exactly as pictured and described. Parking could be a challenge if you have a large vehicle but being able to park in the garage made it easier. Great communication!

We loved staying at Wil’s place. The place was amazing, cozy and everything we wanted for our family. We loved the aesthetic, and the pool was so fun to play in. It was quiet but close to everything we wanted to do, so it was the perfect place to come back to after a long day out. The host and hostess were amazing, friendly and extremely helpful. We can’t wait to visit again.

We had a great stay at Tigg’s place. It was easy to get around, very walkable to get food or go to the beach. The studio had everything we needed. Would stay here again. Highly recommend!
