A perfectly positioned location between Bendigo, Castlemaine and Maldon, your base to explore the attractions Central Victoria has to offer, including great local wineries & artisan goods. Our area is home to an abundance of nature, from kangaroos to echidnas to wombats.

Come and enjoy a weekend of winter splendour and summer heat. Beautiful, historic cottage in the heart of the gold fields. Come for a relaxing weekend by the fire, enjoying the surrounding nature and wildlife. Great little fully equipped kitchen, lovely large old rambling garden with enclosing post and wire fences. Pets are welcome but we need to know they are coming and please bring their beds. If you pet has anxiety issues, best for neighbours & visitors that they go with you on day trips.

Blue Devil Cottage. Kid & mountain bike friendly

Situated in the foothills of Mt Alexander, Blue Devil Cottage is the quaint original Victorian farmhouse of Hillside Acres farm. It is an ideal place for both the energetic and those wishing for a more relaxing holiday. We welcome kids and can get them & you involved in collecting eggs or feeding animals (depending on availability). For mountain bikers, you can ride through our back paddocks directly onto La Larr Ba Gauwa Mountain bike park or it’s just 2km along the road to the trailhead.

Families will love this rustic mudbrick cottage on a 10 acre property within a relaxed bush setting. Enjoy amazing sunsets, watch the kangaroos from the veranda, or take a walk through local bushlands. The outdoor fire area is the perfect place to unwind and view the amazing stars on a clear night. A few minutes drive from Talbot and 15 minutes drive from the famous Clunes Book Town. Being Central Victoria we have many small towns surrounding us within an hours drive.

Herrmann's Cottage Maldon - 1860s miner's cottage

Herrmann's Cottage is a classic Australian miner's cottage (circa 1860) set on over ½ acre of gardens. It is fully self-contained and completely private. The cottage has been carefully redecorated throughout—retaining all the character but with the modern comforts. History - Herrmann Blum acquired this ½ acre allotment in the Parish of Maldon by Crown Grant in 1859. He established "a three-roomed weatherboard house with iron roof, two stables and outhouses".
