Holiday rentals with a kayak in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands

It was an amazing week! The cottage was very comfortable and captured the old school charm of a lake stay. The cottage was well appointed and everything we needed was there. We will be back!

Christopher’s place is absolutely beautiful. Overlooking Mindemoya Lake, it’s nestled among tall trees and a serene landscape. The entire family are great hosts—very warm and helpful. Aside from the regular hosting essentials, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Greg was especially kind in teaching us how to start a fire for the fire pit, even providing some of their own firewood and fire-starting equipment. They also shared some excellent local recommendations and Sandra gifted our group a lovely children’s book written by Christopher’s wife, which was a thoughtful touch for the kids. One of the unexpected highlights was how incredible the place was at night—perfect for stargazing and astral photography. With minimal light pollution and a clear view of the sky, captured some unforgettable night shots and spent hours just watching the stars. I highly recommend their place as the first one to check if you’re planning a trip to Manitoulin Island.

Serenity on the lake was absolutely beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone. Hillary was very quick to respond and the home and property was clean and stunning! You have all you will need there. We made some beautiful memories with our family and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to rent this place for the weekend!

This air bnb was so amazing I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s super clean which is such a plus when staying in an air bnb. They also thought of all the little details. There was sunscreen in the bathrooms, bug spray in the living room, extra chairs, wood and kindling by the fire pit. Don’t even get me started on the location. Absolutely gorgeous. The views are amazing and the water is so nice. If you’re able to, get the loft. It’s beautiful and has another bathroom and full kitchen. If you’re thinking if you should stay here, you should. It’s worth the drive up north questions asked. Thank you for having us!

I highly recommend this cozy getaway! It was above and beyond our expectations. Plenty of games and amenities to keep you busy but also a lot of places to relax and read a book. If the sky is clear at night, the stars are beautiful. Host is very responsive, polite, and she made sure we had everything we needed.

Very enjoyable stay. Cottage has chic, rustic charm with modern amenities and decor. Gorgeous sunsets on the water. Private, large property. Enjoyed a kayak paddle on clear, refreshing Lake Manitou.

Jade was a great host. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything I needed. She even had some canned, boxed and other sealed items. The bed, pillows and bedding were very comfortable. All the supplies needed in a well-lit bathroom, including Ibuprofen! The grounds were lovely with lake reflecting the beautiful fall colors. I had a doe, and her fawn come up to the front yard every morning, which was cool. I would suggest making sure all of the front porch lights work. I arrived late and the extra lighting would have been helpful. Having blue refactors to indicate where the driveway was would have been helpful as well, because of all of the leaves and no overhead lighting. I would stay at her place again and would recommend it to friends or family!! :-)

Ashley was a wonderful host who was very responsive and transparent about instructions and what to expect! Her place was very clean and welcoming. We had a great time and will certainly be going back! No issues whatsoever.

Steph and Al are wonderful hosts. They are always quick to respond and have tons of information for those new to the island. Their cottage is stunning and incredible. It’s peaceful and exactly as described and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to stay there. We hope to return next year!

The house is a bit old, but overall very cozy and comfortable. We especially loved the outdoor fire pit—such a nice surprise to find that the host had already prepared firewood for us, which made our stay even more enjoyable! The location is fantastic, especially if you're planning a trip to Flowerpot Island—it's very close. It's also right next to Singing Sands Beach, which is super convenient. The host was very friendly and responsive, always happy to answer any questions we had. We really appreciated the hospitality!

We had a lovelytwo night stay at Carolyn's place. It was so peaceful and set in the most beautiful surroundings looking over the lake. Carolyn and Daryl were so welcoming and friendly and left us some delicious cakes that were very welcome after a long drive to get to Kilarney. They were incredibly helpful too when we had an issue with our car. Carolyn gave us some good recommendations for walks and we'd definitely recommend the 5 mile walk to The Crack. Really enjoyed our stay.

I had a wonderful stay at Pete’s place. Everything was very clean and well taken care of. There were thoughtful details all around the house like fresh cut flowers and a note with contact info. There were even dog bowls and items that made it feel more like home. This was a great spot to stay and I highly recommend it

The cottage is beautiful - the pictures don't really do it justice. The view of the lake from the windows is breathtaking! It is well furnished, clean and has everything you need for a great stay. Angie and Dale are very responsive and helpful for anything you need. Definitely a great place to stay in a beautiful area!

We all enjoyed our stay, had a wonderful time. Kitchen was well equipped. The only thing I can recommend is lighting the stairway so you can see your way down the stairs at night without having to use a flashlight. So maybe some LED's under the stairs.

We just got home from a wonderful week stay at Courtney’s place on MacGregor Bay. We can’t say enough great things about this place. Having a whole island to ourselves with a trail to hike, paddle boards to use, and all the amenities of home was exactly what we needed! The off grid living with a warm outdoor shower was a highlight…and the constant breeze off the bay will be missed! Our family of four all slept very comfortably. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised to find a blender and a salad spinner! 😉 We feel very lucky to have found this gem and hope to return again soon. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Beautiful place to stay and an idyllic location! Would definitely stay again. The only thing odd was that they ask for guest to bring their own pillow cases, sheets, towels, and blankets which is obviously difficult if you’re travelling. However when we messaged they supplied these for us.

This was the best air bnb we have ever stayed at. The privacy and views are absolutely elite. Our toddler and dog had an even better time than us somehow and we are already plotting our return back. This is a must stay! Thank you and please keep this place up forever lol

We had never been to this area of Ontario before and always wanted to. Finding this location on the Bay met our requirements for cozy, rugged beautiful surroundings and some fishing. This location is a must visit if you are wanting a peaceful time away. Word of caution, if you are trying to get here on your own an electronic navigation device with charts is a must. I used my phone and the navionics app and we also had a good device on the boat so it was a breeze for us getting in and finding the island even with some misty rain on the way in. Sitting on the west side of the island looking down into west bay at the sunset with a drink was a highlight. Also catching a 20 pound pike was another highlight. Really appreciate this place meeting expectations. Plan on returning next fall for a similar adventure.

Absolutely Unforgettable Stay! Jessica and Brandon were truly exceptional hosts so kind, responsive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and completely taken care of. The property itself was beyond our expectations ,peaceful, private, and perfectly nestled by a serene lake. We loved having access to kayaks and a small boat for relaxing lake rides it made the experience even more magical. Felt right at home at the Embers Cabin - easy to get to, clear & friendly communication & beautiful setting. Close to many nature areas in an hour's radius, about equal distance to Alpena & Roger's City. Quiet & peaceful, heard the loons in the morning & evening a few days, so nice! Great place to re-charge & have as home base for the day's sight seeing & adventures. Hope to return in the future!
