This Earthen house is made of sand, straw and clay. Nestled in a valley it is a peaceful and unique getaway. The cabin has four comfortable single beds and electricity, a wood stove for winter. Outside a fire pit and grill. A hand washing sink inside; and port-o-let toilet outside. You may be able to drive in (weather/road condition depending). We are about 4 miles from Montauk State Park (the head of the Current River), 11 miles to Flat Nasty Off-road Park, and 9 miles to canoe rental. The Current River can be accessed in several locations, with the closest being Montauk.

Peaceful and secluded retreat to unplug and unwind. This off‑the‑grid experience has no electricity or flushing toilets, we do provide the essentials: running hot water, an outhouse, all the firewood you will need and propane lighting. Stay includes access to a handcrafted, wood‑fired hot. Four-wheel-drive, or high-profile two-wheel drive vehicles are needed to get to the cabin. We must greet guests at arrival to show you how to use the propane lights.

Come spend a night underground! This unique home is a rural, restful spot with friendly hosts. We are located 8 minutes from Menomonie and 20 minutes from Eau Claire on US highway 12 & 29 parallel to Interstate 94, providing easy access to the freeway. We have one private room available with one private bathroom. The bedroom includes a queen bed and a full size mattress in the loft (ladder access). The remaining spaces are shared with the host.
