Holiday rentals with a pool in Malia

We enjoyed a fantastic four days in Aris’ place, the views of the plateau and mountains are just beautiful! We felt right at home, and it was lovely to have Aris and his wife physically there at check in, a rarity these days! The images really don’t do this place justice, it is up some winding roads but we were prepared for that having visited the plateau in 2012. We can’t recommend staying here more, we really wish we’d have booked a longer stay! Aris had a fantastic hire car recommendation too, which was also great, and we had some amazing recommendations from them too. Thank you very much Aris!

We can highly recommend this accommodation. It's tucked away in a very secluded spot, which makes it wonderfully peaceful. At the same time, you can reach restaurants and a mini market in just a few minutes. A car is essential! The garden is stunning. The biodiversity is incredible. There's always something new to discover. The house is quite small and simply furnished, but that was absolutely fine. Everything was clean, and that's what matters most. The long driveway leading to the house can be a bit intimidating—it just slopes down without any railing or guard. But that’s just part of the Cretan charm. Giannis was always very friendly and helpful—thank you for everything! We also got to know the neighboring family and even visited them. Such kind people. And the animals! Aphroditi the horse, a peacock, chickens, and turkeys—our daughter loved them. Overall a great experience. We were very happy and would definitely recommend it. Who knows—maybe we’ll be back in a few years!

Kindest and sweetest hosts. Went out of their way to make us feel at home and were always readily available for questions. Location is perfect and close to all the best spots. Private rooftop pool is lovely. Huge thanks for letting us check out late as there was no booking till the following day. It made all the difference in the world to our long trip home!

Staying at Sunterra feels like being an honored guest at a Seaside Cretan Villa. My accommodation was lovely and private. Sofia left honey, treats and the best olive oil from her family estate. She checked on me often without being intrusive. I slept to the sounds of the Cretan Sea and the pool is world class. This is one of the best places to stay in the area. The best, most luxe Airbnb experience! 🥹 From the epic views and immaculate landscaping (with butterflies everywhere!) to the private pool + tennis court to the incredible suite with comfortable bed, spacious / modern living + kitchen spaces and endless amenities. This place has it all and is in absolute paradise. We were at peace the whole time. We loved the outdoor shower, free laundry, local village bakeries / cafes & restaurants, total privacy, local provided olive oil (made by the host!), and friendly hosts. We stayed as a family of six, four adults and two children (8 and 5). The set up was really comfortable and worked perfectly for us. The outdoor pool area is great and our two kids loved it - especially as there were lots of inflatables left to play with. We arrived at 3am. Xristos offered to meet us, but when we suggested with young children we'd prefer just to get in and get to bed, then meet up after it was no problem at all. We had instructions to call when we arrived, and the gate was opened for us. We were blown away by how well supplied the house was. Xristos was in touch in the week before to check if we needed anything in particular and couldn't have been more helpful in making sure we had everything we needed to start our holiday. Then we had a delivery of local fruit and wild artichokes as they were in season. Amazing. There was a dust storm before we arrived. Xristos promptly sorted this too. A great and relaxed place to stay, with an unbelievably good host. Thanks!

This very clean and ultra-modern holiday home exceeded all our expectations! Such a warm personal welcome from the owners. A well-stocked fridge on arrival, as well as fruit, coffee and refreshments. Beautiful large private swimming pool. Fantastic luxurious enjoyment in all comfort with comfortable loungers and bathrobes/slippers. It was perfect for us, definitely recommend it and will undoubtedly come back soon!

Mark and Maria were great hosts, very welcoming and accommodating. Papadakis villa is an excellent place to stay, plenty to see within walking distance, a nice bar/pool area and a lovely room!

We loved this home. The huge terrace and view are so amazing. We spent lots of time on the nice patio furniture outside enjoying it. We also loved the pool. You can walk to a few spots in the area for dinner and we really enjoyed the patio bar at the hotel next door. Fun spot. Across the street was Pegasus Dive and boat rental. It was so nice to walk there and rent a small boat to see the town from the water. The town is really nice and the perfect size place to explore. We spent a week here and another week in Chania area. Thanks for sharing your home. I would highly recommend it

Smaller than the space appears to be in the photos but clean and well appointed. Danielle, our host, was helpful, a great communicator, and accessible. Great to be able to communicate easily when out of country. The pool is small, good for refreshing only. Be prepared for 3 flights of steep stairs to gain entry.

This was the second year running that we stayed at this apartment(4 weeks this time), and it was just as good as last year. We booked 10 months in advance and was in contact with Michalis 3 or 4 times during the year. Just before we arrived we requested that some provisions were available as we had a very late flight and Michalis provided water, milk, fruit and even some raki with honey! (nice welcome). As usual the apartment was well stocked with kitchen utensils, bed linen and towels; plus a new digital washing machine (quick wash 15 mins! ) The pool is a big bonus if you don't fancy the 20-25 min walk down to Hersonissos. Lots of bars and restaurants in the nearby villages of Piskopiano and Koutoufoulari. Car hire is also available. Already thinking of returning next year.

The room was nice and big, view from the balcony was really beautiful, pool was great and the location was the best. You can find everything you need in Istro - shops, tavernas, beautiful beaches. We loved it and we can certainly recommend!

Great family-run place in Crete. The food at the taverna is AMAZING, and there’s always a daily special which was the highlight of the menu. Huge apartment, ocean views, easy access to drive to several beaches in the area.

We had a lovely 2 week stay at the villa. The view and facilities were outstanding. The hosts were super friendly and very helpful. I would recommend the villa to all families and groups. We were supplied with everything we needed including cots and child safety gates. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing and checking whether we needed anything.

A stunning location, you could never get bored of the view it’s intoxicating! The house is spacious and clean with everything you need inside as well as being in walking distance to some lovely little restaurants and wine tasting. Would highly recommend!!

We felt very comfortable in Manolis' apartment. :o) It is tastefully decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped. On foot you can reach the small town center, where there are many restaurants. Apart from that, Manolis also has nice tips in the area. We felt completely comfortable and can only recommend the beautiful accommodation. Thank you very much, dear Manolis.

Charming place! Aristeidis and his wife Marina are very polite, attentive and hospitality people! During all our rest they were ready to answer any our questions and give advice and help! The villa is very beautiful and comfortable! It is well equipped with different devices! From the second there is charming view all around! The private swimming pool was very clean and gave us possibility to enjoy private rest! The size of the pool is enough even for the big company! Sakalani is very cosy village with beautiful delicious taverns! There are many different olive and grape farms near the village! The villa is situated only 10 minutes from Heraclion! Definitely I and my family are very thankful to Aristeidis for our wonderful rest and time that we spent on his Vila! I strongly recommend this place for the vacations on Crete!

We had an amazing stay here, 6 adults and 2 babies. The villa is beautiful and we really appreciated the separate baby pool and children's toys, as well as being provided with a travel cot and high chairs for both babies. Eleni was a great host, she was very responsive and organised a cleaner to come half way through the stay which was great. The location is good as it isn't in the main town. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants and bars in Piskopiano and Koutouloufari, the first 5 minutes of the walk is uphill. We hope to return next year!
