Sophisticated log cabin residence near Wilson
The space
Phillips Ridge sits atop a rocky ridge overlooking Jackson Hole. A long driveway, bordered by streams and forest, winds up to the house, a magnificent Western lodge made of wood, solid stone and ethereal glass. Philips Ridge is everything a luxury home should be: comfortable and spacious, welcoming, warm and utterly lovely, with glowing colors, rich fabrics and high quality furnishings.
Phillips Ridge is perfect for adventure or contemplation. The eastern side features a long stone terrace with an outdoor dining area, hot tub and fire pit. Interior perks include a cosmic, two-lane bowling alley, a gorgeous bar room and a casual pub with a billiards table. The house also has a exercise room, a home theatre that seats twelve in deep leather armchairs and an indoor hot tub modeled after the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone Park.
Palatial and sumptuous, Phillips Ridge begins with a two-story, light-filled entryway. Thick log walls and tree trunk supports contrast with fine antiques and soft fabrics. The living and dining areas are divided by a massive two-sided stone fireplace and illuminated by a 40-foot-high wall of windows. Here, you will find a Bo Bartlett piece, “Goddess,” spanning an entire wall. The kitchen is fit for a professional chef. A flat-screen television, hidden inside the stone countertop, rises and swivels at the touch of a button. A stone-topped island separates the kitchen from the dining room, where the long table, overhung by an antler chandelier, seats ten.
Each of the five bedrooms at Phillips Ridge is a master suite. Each has a stone fireplace. The deep wilderness beyond the bedroom windows provides a satisfying contrast to the luxury within. Thick log walls, tree-trunk beams and patterned bedspreads make the spacious bedrooms snug and cabin-like. Glass-walled, rainfall showers create the illusion of bathing alfresco. French doors in the bedrooms open to private terraces or branch-framed porches.
The terraces at Philips Ridge are equipped with a snow melting system, so you can step outside, any time of year. In early morning, the sun comes up over the shoulders of Sleeping Indian. Wildflowers surround the terrace, and then nature really takes over. Phillips Ridge’s 100 acres have been left largely untouched, so it is often frequented by wildlife. Phillips Ridge is also the perfect home base for skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, fishing, swimming or canoeing.
