“Just returned from our stay at Zacharias' house. It was a lovely place with a great view with wonderful sunsets. The village was easy to find, but we did drive past the turning into the village and had to turn around. The little roads around the village are very steep and narrow, and I'm glad I wasn't driving a bigger car than our hired Citygo. I would suggest leaving the car just off the main road near the large rubbish bins, then find the house on foot. It's not very far. 100m perhaps. We decided to leave our car there for the rest of our stay. We were met by Zacharias' mam, who was very welcoming and made us a drink and some of her home-made delicacies, which were delicious. Zacharias' family live downstairs and we have upstairs, but you use their kitchen if you do your own cooking. There is a fridge and kettle in one of the bedrooms though. The village is very quiet but everyone was really friendly. It's very close to the archaeological sides of Phaistos, Agia Triada and Gortyn. Also not far from Matala beach. We didn't go to any of the more southern beaches as they are only reachable by rough tracks. Nearby there is the lovely Donkey sanctuary at Agia Marina.”
Sleeping room on the ground floor of our house and private balcony with a nice view for three people in the rural village Vagionia, in the middle of the Messara plain in south Crete. Kitchen: joint use. The bathroom is located outside of the sleeping room, two steps away, over the small terrace of the chamber. Breakfast with eggs from our own poultry, fruits and vegetables from our garden.
“It was a wonderful time I spend at Catias and Dimitris lovely home. I felt very lucky because I came there for a daylong hiking tour and without staying at their home I couldn t have done that hiking tour. I was not expecting to find such a lovely place to stay so spontaniously. Dimitri picked me up by car just when it was about to get dark and I spend a wonderful evening exchanging stories and enjoying the great dinner he prepared (he prepared vegetarian food for me with vegetables and various ingrediences (all local and organic, mostly from their own garden). the next day I could get to know the garden and the village and neighbours a little before leaving.. I am very much looking forward to return there next year! :0 (and to get to know Catia as well)”

“Now after our vacation I can only say that the description of the location, location and accommodation on the internet portal are pretty understated. Optimal accommodation between village ruins and lovingly restored stone houses. Ideal for individual travelers with a car (!) Who are looking for peace and want to escape mass tourism. Who during the day the hustle and bustle and the "attractions" described in the travel guides such as museum in Heraklion, Knossos, Matala, Como, Pitsidia, Phaistos .... wanting to indulge is just as well served with the location of the district as those who are looking for peace during the day: hikes through olive groves, the surrounding mountains or to the fantastic south coast with its lonely beaches and villages. Muriel is a top consultant. Speaking of Muriel. She is a loving, empathetic, multilingual host. It was just quaint, top, authentic and can only be recommended. Muriel, thank you, thank you for the nice days to you and your family. Natascha, Hans and Mark”
